You sit in your chamber, recalling all of your struggles and triumphs. The deaths of your rivals, the scheming that placed you next-in-line to be Grand Warlock. Surely, you had to make some sacrifices and betray more people than you can count on both hands, but soon you would wield absolute power within the cult of Grevakhnu. A devious smirk crawls across your face, for you know the demon mother worries not how her children rise to power. Kill or be killed. A cut-throat doctrine, but you followed her creeds with precise cunning, all for this moment.
"It is time," you hear the rasping voice of Mirzav, the blind oracle, muffled outside the heavy oak door to your quarters. You offer a brief acknowledgment, and the old codger carries on down the hall, each step jingling with the ornamental, brass bells of his station. Finally, you think to yourself and take one last look over the small chamber. Tonight you'd find yourself sleeping in the silk satin sheets of the Grand Warlock chambers. Your chambers.
The walk to the ceremonial hall was brief, and your hear the supportive thump of feet stomping in rhythm as you enter. Your eyes narrow, scanning the sea of faces, each wreathed in a dark purple hood. A pedestal rises from the center of the chamber, and Filistria, the current Grand Warlock, stands beside the blood-stained altar. You stride up the stairs to meet her, the sea of faces chanting Abyssal scriptures to either side. At last you reach the top and stand before her. The imperious woman sweeps her arm out across the gathered masses, and they obediantly fall silent.
"We join here tonight to honor our favored son," Filistria says, placing a slender, ring-laden hand upon your chest, "Among all of our gathered family, none have proven themselves equally devoted; none as worthy." You bow your head respectfully, but her expression adopts one of bemusement. "And so it is my great honor to place upon him the title of Herald of Grevakhnu!" she booms, and the crowd roars in fervent applause. What? This wasn't what you expected... Then who-- "And though he shall go forth to spread our cause, another shall carry the torch of Grand Warlock," Filistria adds, steepling her fingers. You instinctively step to her side and face the crowd as one of the hooded figures begins to approach.
"Shugga, daughter of Grevakhnu, you have been chosen to bear the mantle of our dark lady," Filistria continues, but you already feel your heart sink. Of course. A woman. You mask your disappointment, and straighten up to welcome the hooded woman to the altar. As she crests the last step, she lowers the violet hood to reveal a scarred, green face. The half-orc priestess indeed showed great promise, as the swell beneath the front of her robes suggested. Filistria bowed her head and placed one hand upon Shugga's cloth-constrained middle before tearing it away in a flourish.
The vein-laden swell of a full-term pregnancy lay bare for all. You knew Shugga had been performing unusual research, and it seems to have paid off. Filistria splays her fingers over the twisted, unnatural pregnancy, and the unclean spawn stirs beneath the taught flesh. Deep down, you knew this might happen. Grevakhnu always favored female cultists over male due to their innate ability to carry offspring, so a male Grand Warlock among the cult was almost unheard of. You dwell on your failures for the remainder of the predictable ceremony before Filistria eventually dismisses the gathered cultists.
You know complaining will only result in punishment, so you accept your new role and return to your chambers. It seems you were still correct about one thing: you wouldn't be spending another night in the cramped quarters. A new mission lay before you, and you had some planning to do. After the ceremony, Filistria calls you back to her quarters to discuss your method of initiating a new cult.
On her table sit three artifacts. You may choose one of them to begin your quest, and it will determine how you found your demonic cult. As you gain more power, your artifacts will unlock new abilities:
Grimoire of Bound Souls
This black, leatherbound tome is penned in demon-blood ink and contains a handful of useful cantrips and low-level spells. As you gather lore, you may learn newer and more powerful spells to add to your spellbook. To start, you may attack your foes with a simple Eldritch Blast cantrip, you can briefly enthrall a target with Charm Person, and you can summon a lesser demon to fight for you and/or breed with potential mates.
Cauldron of Corruption
A stained, rune-etched cauldron hewn from a single piece of Abyssal onyx, it can be used to brew all manner of potions, poisons, and elixirs. To start, you will be able to create potions of lust, sleeping poison, and an elixir of Goblinoid Gravidity. The last one transforms the reproductive organs of any female who consumes the elixir, causing them to birth nothing but goblins with a gestation period of a week.
Chaos Beast
This tentacle monster begins as a cat-sized familiar, but the more it feeds on orgasmic, sexual energy from its mates, the larger and more powerful it becomes, ever evolving and developing new tentacles and techniques. Females bred by this creature birth a small swarm of insectoid drones under your command. These drones are infertile, but they may help in capturing more breeders.
