"So, Mr. Doe," she said after a moment, setting your file down on the large desk before her. "You have applied to take the position of our new head of the science department, is that right? The headmistress was absolutely stunning. For so prestigious a school you hadn't expected it to be run by someone quite so young. You'd be amazed if she were much older than thirty. And that body! Long tan legs, curves in all the right places, long curly hair and blue eyes that you could get lost in. You cleared your throat a little to try get your mind back on track.
"Er, yes ma'am. I recently received my masters degree in-" you began to say but were quietly cut off by a hand wave.
"Yes, Mr. Doe, I know all about your academic credentials. I've also read all of your athletic achievements, your travel history, and a number of humorous antics you seem to have gotten into during your own school years." There was a sly little smile on her soft pink lips as she mentioned this. "What i'd like to know is why would you like to teach here?"
"Oh... well... The school has such a famous reputation. And the ability to teach the way I feel i best, and not follow some standardized course laid out by some politician... well, it's any teachers dream!"
"Hmm, yes. And being surrounded by young impressionable women had nothing to do with it?" You weren't certain but you could almost swear she was smirking at you.
"N-no!" you said going a little pink in the cheeks. "I assure you, my conduct would be entirely professional, Dr. Strope!"
"Oh i'm sure it will!" she said with a mood lifting laugh. "No, only my little joke. And please, just Jessica will do. No, Mr. Doe I am certain you will behave exactly as I, and the rest of the students and faculty, expect you to behave. Oh i'm sure there will be the occasional murmur from some old fashioned thinkers about having a young man as our newest teacher, but I wouldn't pay it any mind at all."
"So... I would be correct to assume that i'm really the only man here?" you asked. Somehow it didn't actually dawn on you that a girls only school likely had women only teachers.
"That's right. I'm sure there will be many to follow in your footsteps in coming years, but for now you will be our first and only male member of faculty. This is quite an honor for a gentleman as young as you are. Just turned twenty-five, is that right?"
"Erm, yes Dr. Str- Jessica." you nodded. You had quietly hoped that the issue of your youth wouldn't be brought up, but it seemed that there wasn't much problem.
"Unfortunately..." Jessica began, her tone sinking into one a little less jovial. "As you may have heard, many of our older teachers have recently retired. Older thinkers that weren't happy with the direction I was taking the school. It has left us a little... short handed. Stretched thin, to be honest. While i'm happy to welcome you to our staff, i'm afraid i'll have to ask you cover a few additional positions."
"Additional positions...?" you asked.
"Yes. We'll need you to oversee a handful of other classes. Nothing too difficult, just provide some guidance. You'll be working with our senior class, and this late in the semester they only have a few final projects to complete. Now it says in your resume you speak French?"
"Well, I only took two courses in-"
"That will be fine. Our Senior French class is rather small. Two or three girls I think. You should be fine there. And I see our art class is in need."
"I can't even draw." you started to plead
"Not a problem. They'll be working on their final pieces. You will just need to be present. An let's see, there's a few more here..."
"Dr. Strope, with all respect, I came here as a science teacher. I wanted to teach Biology or..."
"Oh i'm very sure you'll teach plenty about biology." she said, her small devious smirk appearing again for only a second. "Now then, here's a sheet of a few more courses I would like you to act as substitute on." Already she was guiding you out of her office as she slid the list into your hand. "Just remember, clever and intelligent as our students are, they are STILL young girls and will need discipline and guidance. I expect good things from you, Mr Doe. And remember... it's Jessica."
With a tiny wink she closed her office door behind you, leaving you in a largely empty hall to head to the first course to teach.
