The man looked at her with a sad face, then he sighed.
"I know, its all very frightening and there is no good way to tell you this. You had a car accident. You nearly died, but we were able to save you."
She interrupted him anxiously.
"A car accident? When? How? I don´t remember...."
"It was expected, that your memory would be gone at the beginning. It will come back later, we hope."
"You hope?"
"It was a horrible accident. You are lucky to be alive. But your memory isn´t the only thing you lost."
He paused, trying to find the right word, clearing his throat, scratching his head and looking very miserable.
"Please, just tell me!" she begged.
"You are limbless, we had to remove your arms and legs, or you would have died."
Deep inside her, she already knew it, but hearing it now made it real. She didn´t know what to feel, what to say, she just laid there staring at the doctor with an open mouth, trying to understand.
"Listen, Miss, I know it is a lot, but it isn't as bad as it sounds. Everything healed very well, and even the seams look very good. You shouldn't have much pain, and you are completely healthy. No internal damages, no other illness, you still can have children for example."
She did not really listen. Her head was spinning. Her hard was pounding like crazy. What the fuck was going on. She knew her name and parts of her past, but she didn't remember anything from the last year. She should be around 19 Years old, and she had finished high school planning on going to college, but she did not know if that had happened.
"What year do we have", she suddenly asked.
"2017"
"And how long have I been here?"
"Half a year. We had to put you into a coma first and then you never woke up. A few days ago you started to react again, and we expected you to come back at any time. Everybody in the clinic is very happy about that."
Tears filled her eyes and a mixture of fear, pain, and anger build up inside her.
"But that´s not fair. I am young. I had so many plans."
The Doctor nodded and padded her hair with affection.
"I know it´s hard, and you have a lot of questions, but I need you to calm down and relax now. A coma is nothing you can take lightly. You have to wake up properly. Then you need food. I will tell the nurses to come in."
He pushed a button near the bed, and a few moments later a beautiful nurse with black hair in a white uniform appeared.
"Hello," she said with a calm and friendly voice. "I am Tiffany. I am one of the nurses who took care of you for the last month, sweety."
Sarah saw her beautiful and gentle smile and started to cry. She could not control it. With two quick steps, Tiffany was next to Sarah, touching her face softly and taking the limbless body in her arms. "Oh sweety, I know, it is horrible," she whispered softly in her ear. Then Sarah suddenly said: "I want to see it. Please!"
Tiffany looked at the doctor, and he nodded. There wasn't a good mirror in the hospital, so they decided to take a picture with a smartphone. Tiffany uncovered and undressed Sarah who was wearing a hospital nightdress. She made her hair so she would look pretty and then she took a photo of the naked Trunkgirl and showed it to Sarah.
