She stared at us saying, "David, I was worried sick all morning because I called the house and you guys didn't answer... then I called Kevin's phone and he didn't answer... What were you two up to?..." Kevin stuttered and I decided to speak for the both of us saying, "Well. You caught us... We were up all night watching tv since it was a marathon of our new favorite show, right Kevin?" He nodded his head in agreement as Julie gave us both a conflicting look and she said, "Umm... Well okay. I guess I over reacted... Again, thank you so much for looking after my boy. I really do appreciate it David."
I watched as Kevin followed his mom to their house next door and he turned his head back to look at me as I waived my hand to bid him goodbye for now. I shut my front door once they had walked away and then I focused on fixing some breakfast to start my day.
