Hello everyone, my name is Nishant. This is my first attempt in writing a story. This is a real story that happened 4 years ago while I was working in a Delhi MNC during the night shift.
The company was kind enough to provide us with a shared cab service during night shifts. All the employees going in the same direction were put on the same cab. Usually, we had the same people every day – 3 guys and 4 girls, living almost a km apart from each other.

“Yes, had so many tasks to complete today that my eyes hurt”, said my colleague.
“Well, you can rest for a while if you want. It is still an hour for us to reach our destination. I really don’t mind if you feel comfortable”. And I tapped on my shoulder while I said that to show her that I was fine with her resting head on me.
She gave an innocent smile and that moment was the ice breakers for us.

Well, back to our ride.
So, she again put her head on my right shoulder and tried to fall asleep. But destiny had some other plans for us. We again hit a road bump and she woke up again.

“I feel you, Angela. Wish I could do something about it”, I offered to help.
While all this was happening, the others in the car had already dozed off to sleep or had their eyes shut with headphones ON.
“Well, if you want, I can hold your head with my one hand just so to reduce the impact of the bump”, I said like a champ.
“Ummm, I don’t know if that’s a good idea”, she was reluctant but desperate to sleep too as her head ached.
And at that moment, I let go of all lusty feelings and genuinely offered help. She reluctantly agreed and I put my right arm around her in a position to hold her head while she rested on my shoulder.

Before one could know it, she dozed off to sleep. And I held her head with my hand all through the next one hour of the journey. Just as we were about to reach her drop off point, I gently decided to wake her up. Her hairs were all over the face.
I gently moved them away from her face. What I saw next had me captured for the rest of my life. I saw her wonderful face, shining with the moonlight coming from the window of the car. Her eyes sleeping peacefully and her lips had an innocent smile on them, making me believe that she was definitely visualizing a beautiful dream.
I hated myself for waking her up but finally decided to go for it.
“Angela?”, I called her out softly with a little tap to her shoulder. She opened her small beautiful eyes and asked what time it was. I said it’s time for her drop. She felt so relaxed and thanked me for all the comfort.
I wanted to tell her that I don’t want this journey to end but I kept my mouth shut as obviously, I love my life!
Well, finally her stop came. She turned around, hugged me before getting off, and once again thanked me for the ride.
Everyone else in the cab was looking at us with a shock in their eyes as to what just happened!! And I went to sit back in my seat, like a warrior who had half won his battle already.
That was the day, after which it became a usual phenomenon of sitting together in the cab and we became so comfortable that she didn’t even have to ask. I put my hand around her automatically to comfort her. She also didn’t mind and we spent a lot of nights together like this.
One day, I was sitting at home, waiting for the cab call, when suddenly my phone rang. It was the cab coordinator telling me that the cab had broken down today so I would have to come on my own and that I will be reimbursed later. I was sad as I would lose the ride with Angela. Just when I was lost in these thoughts, my phone rang again.
“Hey, Hi Nishant!”, said a soft sweet voice on the other side. So mesmerizing that I didn’t have to second guess who it was.
“Angela?!”
“Oh my, you recognized it is me. I didn’t expect that.”
“Why won’t I, it’s not something one could forget”, I was trying hard to keep the flirting as innocent as possible.
“Ahan!! Well, everything apart, I am just calling to talk to you about her cab situation today. I think you must have got a call that we have no cab coming.”
“Yes, I just spoke to the coordinator.”
“Right, so I was actually gonna take my own car to work today. I was wondering if you need a ride, then you can hop along.”
I couldn’t believe what my ears just heard. Never have I ever felt so lucky in my life.
“I would be honoured, if it’s not too much trouble for you”, I said those words so sheepishly, that anyone would melt.
