It was my first day at work.I had just graduated from college and this was my first job,so I was a bit nervous.I checked my watch in the lift to make sure that I was on time and I took a few deep breaths.I stepped out of the lift and headed into the office.I went and met the hr manager and she showed me the ropes and introduced me to the team in which I would be working.Since I was new,I felt the need to be recognized and hence I put in a lot of effort.
At the end of the month, the whole team met the MD of our office.
I remember that day really well even now.I was talking to Nisha and Sudhir about the football game the previous night just before we entered her cabin.We were called in and we followed our team leader Naresh into the cabin.The MD (Priya) totally caught my attention.I took in a deep breath to compose myself and I began to check her out even as she began to question our team leader.She wore a beige colored skirt and a sky blue shirt.Her eyes were outlined with khol and she had put pink lipstick.Her hair was long and straightened so that it fell till the small of her back.
“And how are you doing here so far Rehaan?”,she asked.I broke out of my reverie and said,”I am doing all right,thank you very much”.Then she proceeded to ask me questions regarding my involvement in the project and I answered them to the best of my knowledge.My team leader also put in a few words saying that I was working hard and adjusting quite well.At the end of the review meeting, she wished us and told us that she would meet us again at the next meeting.
As my team members began to file out,I lingered there for a bit more.She noticed me standing there and smiled at me and said,”Anything I can do for you Rehaan?”.”Well,no actually I was looking at your watch.It’s really nice you know,quite old in fact,a collector’s item if I’m not wrong”,I said.She beamed at me and said,”It’s beautiful don’t you think, it belonged to my mother…It reminds me of her.”,she said.”Oh!, okay,I asked you that because I was wondering why such a beautiful woman would wear such an old watch, even though it is beautifully in is own way”.
She giggled and said,”Thank you fo the complement Rehaan, but I must warn you buttering me won’t get you anywhere” just as I exited her cabin.
I immediately began collecting information regarding the MD from all available sources. I talked to my team leader, a few other people and I began to get to know her slowly.Apparently, she was the only child of a rich family.Her father had died fighting in the army when she was a child and her mother had passed away around 5 years back leaving her to tend to the family business.
Eventhough she had recently finished her MBA,she rose to the occasion and had handled the company well and had even tripled the company revenue.She sparsely socialized with anyone and sollu concentrated on her work.As I got to know more about her I began to like her more and more.I decided that I would have to work a bit hard to make her like me.
I began to meet her more and more often on the pretense of clarifying doubts regarding the project,but I would actually be there to interact with her.Slowly she began to enjoy my company.I usually brought her a coffee or something else to drink in order to prolong our conversations.We soon became good friends and we used to text quite late into the night.We used to talk about our interests,our hobbies but we rarely talked about our personal lives.
On numerous occasions, I had tried to ask her about her personal life,but she always stayed away from the topic,till on one she told me,”Rehaan I need you to stop asking me about my personal life, I’m not interested in sharing the details with you.”I felt abashed,so I abruptly ended the conversation and walked out of her office.I decided to keep my distance from her as I didn’t want to rub her the wrong way.
So when we began to meet in the office from then onwards,there use to be quite a lot of latent tension between us.I used to answer her questions to the point and leave immediately during the team reviews.
When we met in the cafeteria I used to greet her and move away and sit with my friends.This continued for around 3 months,until one day she dropped by my cubicle and said,”Rehaan,I would like to meet you in my office now.”I nodded and began to follow her to her office.I must say,she had one heck of an ass and her hair left a silky black trail behind her.We entered her office and she shut the door, and unusually she sat on her table.I leaned against the door of her cabin and said,”How may I help you?”.
She said,”Alright wise guy,what’s the matter with you? Why are you acting weird around me? Why won’t you even talk to ?””I am talking to you right now madam. She stopped sobbing and looked away.
She took a deep breath to compose herself and then said,”I’m sorry too.I shouldn’t have said that.I was just having a bad day that’s all.You must understand that I will talk about my life when I’m comfortable enough.””Ok,it’s all right”,I said.I took a tissue and held her face as I cleaned up her makeup which was spoilt because she was crying.Throughout this time she was looking at me with her beautiful sky blue eyes.I badly wanted to kiss her right there,but I held back thinking that now wasn’t the time.
From then on things went back to normal and we became, even more, closer.She used to come over to my flat during the weekends and we used to watch a movie together,have lunch and talk about random stuff,go shopping and basically chill out.
It was around 10 months since I had joined the company when this incident took place.I had been greater responsibilities so I often stayed back till around 6:30 before I left.I was the last one out of the office that day,and I got into my car as I prepared to go home.It was raining heavily that day.So the traffic was sluggish.
As I was inching my way across the main road my attention was caught by a Volkswagen beetle which was parked along the side of the street.A frantic woman was having a look at the engine.Her var was the reason for the jam.I decided to help her out and I stopped my car behind hers and got out.
I was surprised to see that it was Priya.When she saw me,she immediately closed the hood of her car and asked me to take her to the hospital.I felt that the situation was urgent,and I started my car and I was surprised when I saw her coming towards my car with a little girl in her arms.Priya got into the front seat and said,”Let’s go now”.The little girl looked at me and said,”Mommy who is he?”.
I was shocked when I heard this and I looked at Priya who said,”He’s a friend dear”.I was shocked and I was lost in thought for a few minutes.I came back to earth and I began to listen to the kid talk as I navigated my way to the hospital.”Mamma, it’s paining really badly”,cried the girl.”Asha it’s all right we are almost there, you will be fine soon”,said asha.We soon got to the hospital and we got her admitted.
Asha had fallen down the stairs and sprained her ankle and cut her head. Since it was late, there were no doctors available and so we were advised to stay the night till the doctors reviewed her innoru in the morning. Asha was given first aid treatment(like a splint and a few stitches) and admitted.She was put in a private room. I took it upon myself to pay the bills to let mother and daughter have some time to themselves before I entered the room.
Asha saw me and smiled and said,”Hello”.I smiled and introduced myself and I began to talk to her.I came to know that she was 5 years old.This means that Priya must be less than 35 years old I thought to myself.I made her laugh with my antics and she told me some nursery rhymes.Overall we began to get along quite well.
In between, I glanced at Priya and found her looking at me with those beautiful eyes.She was looking at me the same way she looked at me the day we had the talk.As soon as she realized that I was looking at her,she looked away, embarrassed.Soon Asha felt tired and fell asleep.
I felt that I shouldn’t leave Priya alone in such a situation, so I called my landlord and told him that I wouldn’t be coming home for the night. I sat on the other bed in the room and took out my phone and began to browse through the net. I felt a bit angry that she would hide such a big part of her life from me., and so I hadn’t talked to her ever since she got into the car.
“Hi”,she said timidly, as she sat next to me on the bed and folded her legs.”Hello”,I replied without looking away from my phone.”I guess I owe you an apology for not telling you about Asha.”I didn’t reply.
She then placed her hand on my face and turned my head towards her and said in a voice choked with emotions,”I didn’t think you would want to talk to a single mother,I felt that if I told you about her, you would feel that I had too much of baggage and you would distance yourself from me.”, she said. I looked at her cute face as she talked.Her eyes were filled with tears.
Her hair which was wet due to the rain was draped over her right shoulder. Even now she looked beautiful.I was actually really horny when she touched my face with her cold soft hand.I took a deep breath and then I sighed.
I adjusted myself so as to make my erecting visible to her and then I held her hand and said,”You having a child has not scared me away.I just wish you had told me sooner. From now on promise to tell me the truth”,I said. She smiled and said,”I promise”.

We began to talk and by around 12:30 we both drifted off into sleep…
