(Jen_Adams) I just thought about what it would be like to be stuck in Rhonda's place and it just stuck, of course that was before there was a Rhonda. I just sorted out the details as I wrote. (Jen_Adams) I would have to wish that someone else would make a selfish TG wish for me so I wouldn't have any control over it. (MonaR) Any thoughts of a "Complete Altered Fates"? (Jen_Adams) Do you mean ending it? (MonaR) I mean publishing it! (Jen_Adams) It is published on the web on my site as near complete as I can find. I do still have to add a couple of Eric's stories. The only thing with that complete list is it doesn't include stories that don't follow the rules of the Medallion, but as far as selling it to a publisher or doing it myself, who would want to buy it when it could be read for free! (jan) You're well known for altered fates, but do you regret that? For example, do you have other stories that you like better and wish others would read more? (Jen_Adams) No actually, I'll take any recognition I can get! I am proud of Altered Fates as well as my other stories. (jan) Cool! (cNf) Do you have any comments to make about Fictionmania swamping smaller sites? (Jen_Adams) Well, I have to ask Mindy. Other than the ones associated with Fictionmania, you mean there are other sites? I haven't found them! I did ask that my stories be added to Fictionmania because I felt that they were not being noticed as well on my site alone! (cNf) LOL! Do many people come to your site from here? (Jen_Adams) I imagine quite a few from who I have talked to, but there a lot more who don't. I don't think they know my site is out there. Oh wait a sex! I mean sec! I wanted to add that I have noticed the my link is pretty far back on the links list on Fictionmania, since it was one of the first links added. So I think that most people don't even get back that far! (Anthony) Did you ever feel that your Altered Fates universe would be this popular? In other words, did you ever anticipate its popularity? (Jen_Adams) No I never in a million years thought is would be this big. (Chrissy) What published authors do you like to read to inspire you? (Jen_Adams) Timothy Zhan, he writes in the kind of style I would like to take my writing in. He wrote three Star Wars books, episode 4,5,and 6. (Chrissy) Oh cool. :) (Ellie) I'm working on a very strange Altered Fates story that does follow your rules. What sort of thing would you NOT like to see happen in such a story? (Jen_Adams) Only that the rules of the Medallion were being broken. It is important that at least the Medallion remains unchanged from writer to writer. I made as minimal rules as possible so future stories are possible. (Ellie) So using the Medallion to commit crimes would be okay, so long as the criminal was punished? (Jen_Adams) Actually that is not a rule of the Medallion, being punished, just like in my story "Miss-ing", there were a couple of injustices, but the Medallion left them slide. (Anthony) So one could use the Medallion for their own purpose and not get caught? (Jen_Adams) That is a possibility, but by nature the Medallion might inflict its own justice on him. The rules of the Medallion are to offer options to the writer, as in the pregnancy rule. (wanda42) Are the 12 hour limit, clothing worn, new clothing, pregnancy and person to person the only rules? (Jen_Adams) Animal transformations are also possible. (wanda42) OH! (Jen_Adams) Yes, pretty much those are it. The biggest violation I usually see is how it used. It is actually supposed to be worn by one person and the person wearing it is the one affected, but I have left it go as long as the Medallion is being touched by the person being transformed. I also want to mention that the reason for the contact during transformation is to allow for partial transformations, so one could end up with only breasts or just a female from the waist down sort of thing. I think that this could lead to interesting tales as well! (*Bash) Jenny has a complete set of rules posted on her site along with some very nice pictures that some others have contributed. (Jen_Adams) I haven't posted your pictures yet Bashful. (*Bash) I wasn't talking about mine! (Jen_Adams) LOL, I just thought since we were on the subject, I would give you an update! (*Bash) You've only written 9 Altered Fates stories, while others have written more. You have more than 54 Altered Fates stories on your site. Will you write more? (Jen_Adams) From time to time, when I am in the mood, though I wouldn't tie myself to that task. (hayden) Hi Jen! I love your stories. If you could have any author in the world write a Altered Fates story, who would you choose? (Jen_Adams) The Professor, hands down! I will take this time to say that I thought Bill Hart did an excellent job with his crossover tale. I told him that I was afraid it would make it look like Altered Fates was a spin off of SRU, but he made it clear that they were separate. I guess it would only seem right that someone of the Wizards vast knowledge of magical items would have had an experience with the Medallion! (Jen_Adams) I don't believe there is, though I suppose it could be possible, but I don't know... (TJMax) Do you attend Science Fiction conventions? (Jen_Adams) No I don't, I am a loose fan of Star Trek and Star Wars universes. (Ellie) Will there ever be a story where the Medallion shows up in the Star Trek universe? (Jen_Adams) Not from me. I do not like doing crossover stories or borrowing characters for my writing. (Ellie) Even though people have been doing Trek fan fiction for thirty years? (Jen_Adams) It is just not my thing, not to say that it wouldn't be appropriate if someone else wanted to do it. (*Bash) Would the Medallion work on a dead body? (Jen_Adams) Only to transform the living. (*Bash) I know its gruesome. (Jen_Adams) I have been asked that Bashful and I would have to say that it would not do anything to the dead person, but it would give a living person their image, although, the fatal wound might also be transferred. (*Bash) I was thinking of changing a dead body to look like someone else? (Jen_Adams) Not with the Medallion. Bashful, I could see the benefits in that, let me think it over... There really isn't a rule against it, but I don't know if it would go that far. (*Bash) That's why I asked you, it's your universe. It would make things interesting. (Jen_Adams) The only real thing I try to oversee is that the Medallion isn't compromised. Let me kick it around for a day or two. And if so, can you give us a hint? (Jen_Adams) I am currently working slowly on a story called Wife101, it is about a young man about to graduate college. His name is Mark, he talks his friend Kurt into being turned into a woman to play his wife, so that Mark can get a good job that he is up for that requires him to be married. I have also been thinking of picking up another story I have on disc called, "For the Love of Alice". It is about a man who agrees to become a woman to be a surrogate for his sister. (TJMax) What did the ancient tribe who created the Medallion use it for? Punishment or reward? (Jen_Adams) I don't know, I wasn't there. (Anthony) What sort of scenarios do you like to write in Altered Fates stories? (Jen_Adams) I like victim of circumstances plots, like in "Juvenile Delinquent" when Dennis became Debbie. It is nobody's fault really, it just sort of happens, now the protagonist just has to deal with it! (Chrissy) Have you ever considered writing a story about how the Medallion was created? (Jen_Adams) No never! Pretty clear cut, huh? (Chrissy) Why not? (Jen_Adams) I like it to be mysterious and the origin to be unknown. Where it came from no one knows and where its going???? (*Bash) Bill did a good part on that by giving it a centuries old history in his crossover tale. (wanda42) Is the first Medallion story on Fictionmania, or your site? (Jen_Adams) Yes, it is now. It is "The Things We Do For Love", I wrote it longhand before I got my 'puter. "Spare The Rod" is the official one, but it was written a while after. (Morpheus) What Altered Fates story scenario would you like to see another author write or request another author to write? (Jen_Adams) Morpheus, I try not to ask writers to write anything specific, I prefer them to be creative on their own. I think you may have written more Altered Fates stories than I have! (*Bash) Oh? (Jen_Adams) The mental component is just a hint and it has only shown through multiple authorship, I don't know what would make it stronger. (Ellie) What else would you like to talk about. This seems to be a class in Medallion 101? (Jen_Adams) It is okay with me. I just want to answer your questions the best I can. I must admit this is giving me a sense of awe over the popularity of Altered Fates, I never realized... I would like to see a few more Altered Fates stories pop up, I would also like to not have to search for them! (*Bash) What makes Jenny Adams really get excited? (Hot and Bothered that is!) (Jen_Adams) Hmmm, that is a good question... Mainly I just know it when I see it, or think of it. Something that excited me once, may not do so again, then again, it might. (*Bash) Well, that was definitive. :) (Jen_Adams) There are many things that do, but one of the big ones is what I call Sophisticated Humiliation, the protagonist does something he finds humiliating, but not from fear of punishment, but more from to keep from being discovered. For example a man might have to perform oral to keep from being discovered as being dressed like a woman or having to act like someone he looks like. (*Bash) I notice that you do not write CD stories though? (Jen_Adams) You are right, I just have a hard time getting into them. Sometimes I find one I like, but for me to write them, I have tried and I have a couple half finished on my hard drive as we speak, but they will probably will never be finished. (*Bash) Altered Fates is a very good place for new authors to start because it is well known and very popular, plus the magic allows almost anything to happen. (Anthony) It's also not hard a subject to write about! (Jen_Adams) I tried to make it very easy as mode of transformation. I have seen that many writers have been able to use Altered Fates for experience and it makes me happy. (Jen_Adams) I just imagined what it might be like to become a heavy, attractive black woman. I had noticed a lot of stereotyping in cultural change stories and I wanted to show a black person in a different light. (LauraG) In "Spare the Rod", I really liked that you took Katie back to age two. The perfect age as it allows the character to talk and yet she's still technically a baby. (Jen_Adams) Yes I know, let's just say that it wasn't coincidence. I wouldn't like to become younger than two and restrict my mobility severely. (LauraG) That really makes the story work. (Jen_Adams) That is the same age as the girl in "You'll Learn", that is where I look at it from the other character's point of view. I think about what I might do if I were Marsha, or his daughter. It is one of my original posts and it is also at Nifty with "Oops!" and "Pen- Pals". (Jen_Adams) I was told that "You'll Learn" was predictable and a horrid example of TG writing, but I won't say who told me! (Jen_Adams) I get a laugh when people ask what I know about writing a TG story, as though I don't write. I have a few times. I usually like telling the story as though I were relating actual events that I witnessed. "My Strange Halloween" was a good example: I have been asked if it is a true story. One girl said that she would pray for me, since changing sex like that must have been awful for me. I realized that the search engines were picking up the words Ouija Board and taking unsuspecting people to that story on my site. I had to put a disclaimer on the bottom that it was only for the entertainment of adults and that it was a work of fiction! I want to make my readers believe that what I am telling them is true, or at least make em wonder. I have read stories that made me wonder if I was reading fiction or accounting of actual events. There is a magical element about a true story that I can't describe, you can feel the charge when you read it. (mrtiger) Goodness! Is there a law about putting disclaimers in stories? (Jen_Adams) I don't know, I put it at the end so I didn't spoil the effect, but I didn't want a bunch of loose cannons running around the net either. (Karen) Right Jen. How was that experience? (Jen_Adams) My first writings were published by Reluctant Press, all I did was send it to them, I didn't think that they would accept them. (mrtiger) Wow! (Jen_Adams) The first story I ever wrote was "Be Careful What You Wish For", which became "Change of Life" on Reluctant Press. I wrote it out long hand, my wife typed it onto disc for me. There have been other stories by that name, but they are not mine. My second story was "Christi" and it is also in "Change of Life" with my third story "Homecomming Queen". If anything TG stories make fun of men who would hurt women or treat them in inappropriate ways. (Jen_Adams) To boil it all away, for me, I think TG is kind of wondering what is on the other side of the fence, not saying that the grass is greener just different.
