They say that death is the ultimate end to everything, but
what really happens during death? How can something that is
so unknown be the true end? I know I'm one of those who
thinks too much about his problems, people around me, and
life; but there is a certain truth that I do know death
brings. That truth is closure and togetherness.
I don't remember much about my parents, but what I do
remember is what my grandfather and grandmother told me
after they had passed. They said that it was the day before
my birthday party. Sure just what a kid needs to find out
the day of his birthday. Thankfully I must have shut off
all the pain of that day and hidden it deep inside me
because I don't remember anything about what happened that
year. After that moment my grandparents adapted me as there
own and raised me from then on.
Sure we weren't always this close, but death has a way of
bringing everyone closer. In these times of need all
emotions are brought to the surface. Regret seems to be the
biggest one of them all and along with it comes grief. Once
these two partners of pain set in everything is lost. All
hope seems to fade down the drain as self pity and self
sorrow raise.
When it comes to options there are hardly any left for the
sanity of a person to bring them back from these cases.
This is a time when we need our friends the most, yet our
friends never seem to understand the true reality that we
have been through. Sure they might try to comfort us a
little, but deep down we know that they are just luring us
on. That is when we dive down even deeper into the
depression of our suffering.
Lost in this endless world of people with no one to turn
to. No one to care about us or truly understand our
suffering we have two choices. Find ourselves a new sense
of reality or end it all. Sure if I wanted to I could just
end it here right now and have you walking away not
learning a thing, but what would be the point in ending
with only an opening. No I cannot take that path. I must
choice to live so you understand what I have been through.
So you understand the suffering that I have gone through
and over come. My life would be meaningless otherwise.
Living might not have been the easiest of path, but on it
life is always able to change. The journey is an endless
one, but one that has many paths to take. When I first
decided to search for who I was I questioned the reality of
mankind. It is said that we were created in the image of
our maker, but if our Creator is really up there watching
us how can he let us create war? How can he let us suffer
so much? Is this all that life is to him a sick joke? Sure
once you think about it the belief that there is no God
surfaces up, but I still believe even at that point deep
down there has to be something up there. For every bad
thing we do have good in the world. Love, passion, desire,
hope, freedom. Everything here seems to counter act each
other. This alone must prove that something out there had
enough knowledge ahead of time to know that we would need
both in our lives.
If everything is balanced then why do I still suffer from
the lost? What parts of me have really been hurt? It just
doesn't seem right to have a life be taken. Especially the
way that all happen. However the worst blow to reality was
to come when my grandfather pasted away. I haven't been
able to block it out. The events of it play in the back of
my head like a movie that won't be turned off. All the
drama and trauma. Not knowing if we would receive good news
or bad news. That night however did have some good effects.
We all were a family brought together. In those moments we
were there. Bound by that single event that took all of our
lives into a twist. Sure I was suffering, but looking back
my grandmother had to be suffering even more. He might have
been my grandfather, but in those moments and that life he
was her husband. She would never be the same after that
night.
My grandmother was one of those that never put herself
before others. She always believed in the goodness of
everyone. Always stubborn to go to the hospital. Always
there for her family. She is and has always been the corner
stone that holds the family together. Along side her my
grandfather backing her up. Sure they fault, but what
couple doesn't fight at 70 year's of marriage.
This just put me in an even deeper depression. I knew I
should help her, but I couldn't. I had nothing to offer
her. I had nothing to show her. Plus how could I help her
when I couldn't help myself.
A year has passed since the events of my grandfather's
death have happened. A few changes came about. One of those
was a computer. With this computer came the Internet. Such
wonder was this new PC. The first thing I had to add to it
was the Internet. Countless hours of enjoyment came from
that one little connection. It brought me to a whole new
world. A whole new level of thinking. This world help fill
the void. Hours upon hours spent searching information.
This information produced by people of the same problems.
People whose lives have been so altered that we must rely
on a machine for help and guide us.
Some of the information I had come about was on a fetish
known as age regression. This brought up a whole new world
for me. I would set her and giggle at the little stories
that other people have wrote. I would feel sadness at the
lost of a character, but deep down in my heart I wished it
could happen to me. This whole other world that has been
lost to us as we have grown up.
It still amazes me how simple childhood can be. How
everything is provided for you. How life can be so
different from that which is around us now. Childhood is
that of innocents and being loved. From that moment on
everything around me changed, but I could never truly
expression the true innocents of childhood. I was still a
grown man. I was living on my own and paying bills. I was
having to worry about what food I would cook and where that
food would come from. All of this affected my day to day
life, but I didn't want this. I wanted to be a child like
in the stories. I wanted to be free of all worries. I
wanted all the responsibilities to just simply go away.
This was when I made the decision. This was when I
connected my grandmother. Boy was she shocked when I
called. I still remember the phone...
"Hello?" my grandmother asked.
"Granny, It's me John." I spoke.
"Oh, hello there. How are things for you?" She questioned.
"Before you jump in I have to speak to you of matters that
are of the utmost important and might change the aspects of
our lives. I know on the night and day that we lost Jake,
the name of my grandfather, that you have been suffering. I
know that things have not been right since that day. I have
gone through many changes that still leave me very
depressed to. I think I might have a way of helping us both
out with this."
I spoke trying to sound as brave and confident as I could
when asking someone such a deep and dangerous question.
Tearful and grieve stricken she tried to answer everything
and understand everything I was placing before her. She
liked the possible of having a child back in the house.
There were some things that I was going to have to agree to
that I didn't like, but hey what life doesn't have it's ups
and downs.
However the biggest shock came on the day of the move. I
had prepared all the stuff before hand for my room. We
planned everything just like you would a real baby. We
looked for stuff and ideas at a Baby store. First thing we
looked at was crib design. It seemed like we were never
going to agree on one. After about the 5th store we came
upon we found one that was just right. It had the perfect
backboard, the bars was carved in such an odd pattern that
we just fell in love with it. Of course we couldn't just
buy the thing. We had to ask the storeowners permission if
we could take a couple of photos of it. At first he looked
like we had asked a stupid question.
Then I helped explain, "My wife is at home sick in bed and
having a hard time walking around from the pregnancy. She
whined about not being able to come, but I had to explain
to her that due to her health she must think of the baby.
However the problem is we cannot postpone it any longer.
The baby is due next week and we must buy the crib before
it arrives otherwise we will be in trouble,"
I also told him that, "You know how women are they must see
everything before a discussion can be made so please will
you let us take a picture?"
He then allowed us to go ahead take the pictures. That
turned out to be only the first step of our problems. From
the pictures we would have to figure out how to design the
crib. My grandmother and I worked and drew sketches. We
were just about to give up after the 4th try, but finally
we got it right. The next step was to send the blue prints
off to a carpenter. We had to debate about going to a
localized carpenter, but if they put two and two together
it could be dangerous for my grandmother and I. With that
knowledge we found one that was about 100 miles away. Now
all we had to do was wait for the crib to be finished.
So much time and so little to do. The crib seemed to take
forever and my grandmother wasn't being fair when it came
to picking out the rest of the items. Every time I would
whine about not being able to go with her to pick the items
out she would simply say, "Now you wanted the feeling of
being a real child," I nodded yes each time, "Then how can
I let you help me when real baby's aren't able to walk to
the store?" All I could do was give a dumbfounded look at
time and let it be.
6 weeks later the crib finally was ready for pick up. I
couldn't wait to see it and help put it together. It took
us about 20 minutes to get every little piece out of the
box and then we had to refresh ourselves with the structure
of the crib by looking at the blue prints. This took us
about 5 minutes to refigure out. After that it was only a
matter of time before we had it up in ready. I wanted to
try it out that night, but Granny still wouldn't let me
have me fun. I was starting to throw a temper tantrum when
my grandmother gave me a swift swat to the bottom.
"Now you know that you have to wait till we get everything
finished. I still have to get the nursery painted, hang up
the currents, make room in the closet for the clothes, and
a whole lot of other stuff. You still have a month left on
your apartment so while I'm preparing the rest of the stuff
we will use that time to get the rest ready. It won't be a
surprise otherwise my little one."
I sighed and knew I was defeated she was right of course.
Plus there was no fighting her once she made up her mind.
For 30 days and 30 nights I slept, ate, read any story I
possibility could off the Internet, and searched any site
that I came across with the structure or wording of age
regression. It was all I could do to pass the time. Finally
that big night came. I cleared out my apartment and sold
what I didn't need. My grandmother met me at the front
door.
She walked up to me with a smile," Everything has been
completed. However when you enter the room don't be shocked
if it is different from what you expected it to be."
"Oh how different is it?" I asked nervously and excited to
see what my new room would look like.
"That is all part of the fun of our little surprise."
Now if I had been excited before those little words made me
even more excited. All I could think of now was the room
and each step towards the room was mixed with emotions of
joy, fear, weakness, dizziness, and being extremely
excited.
The big moment had arrived. I was finally at the room and
we were opening the door. The first thing that I saw was
the moonlight coming in across the window straight in line
of the path of the door. As we walked in more my
grandmother switched the light on. The first thing I saw
was pink currents with a purple border above the currents.
My jaw dropped completely.
Then she moved me on in to the middle of the room. She
pointed me to the right and along the wall I saw the crib.
Inside the crib were rolls among rolls of pink and purple
pillows with fluffy lace on the outside sewed in. Each
pillow had the name Little Sara written all over them. With
a picture of a teddy bear in a ballet costume. Along side
the back of the crib was rolls of dolls in little pajamas,
a few of them were in baby doll nighties. Above it was a
mobile with kittens and bunnies hanging down.
At this moment I was just in shocked as my grandmother had
to physically turn me around to the left for I had lost all
muscle movement. The left wall was painted completely. At
the tops were clouds; in the middle was grass extending to
meet the clouds. Heading towards the closet door was a
little girl painted in a floor patch picking daisy and
placing them into a basket. She had a red hood and cloak on
her.
That was when my grandmother opened a closet door and I saw
the dresses. The closet was packed full of them to say the
worst. Party dress, play dresses, dresses with lots of
lace, some with bows, some without, and some even with
bonnets attached to the hangers. All the dresses were in
adult size too. Below the dresses was a blue matt flooded
up. On the matt were rows and rows of cloth diapers stacked
one after the other. All I could do was stand there and
star. It was just too much for my mind. Here I was
expecting boy stuff and grandmother had designed the room
for a girl. What was I to do?
"Why a girls room? I'm a boy grandmother?" I finally built
up the courage to ask her.
"Yes you were a boy, but I figured this way we could have
more fun and lots of adventures. Plus once we let that hair
grow out and dye it strawberry blonde I don't think boy
clothes will look the way they used to on you."
It's funny life seems to have those little twist. All I
could do now is play the card I was given and hope for the
best.
