Mark finds himself at the mall again on another slow and quiet Tuesday
night. Twenty-five and he's hanging out at the mall and that's mainly
because has nothing better to do. If he drank, had friends, or a life
for that matter, he'd have something to do. He sighs as he steps onto

going to end up seeing another movie. Another Tuesday night and another

that. He sighs, removing a five dollar from his wallet; he inserts the
bill into the change machine and watches the girl dance. The change
clangs down into the metal depression and he states softly as he
removes his quarters, "I need help."
Dropping into Initial Version 3, Mark inserts four quarters and begins
racing. Halfway through the first race, he glances again at the dancing
girl and bumps into a wall. A silently he lectures himself about
choosing the chair on the right so he could still see the girl and he
tries to remain focused.
He wins the first race and is about to begin another, when the 17 year
old girl drops into the chair next to him. "Mind if I join?"
Mark looks at her face to see the slight sheen of sweat, "Go ahead."
Quickly, she inserts four quarters and picks a race track. A track with
snow appears on the screen and she smirks, "Now we see how good you
really are."
Calmly he smiles, "Eh, I'm alright."
Fiercely the two battle, turning the wheel sharply back and forth,
keeping the gas down and pressing the brake. Neck and neck they stay
with each other the whole race, but in the end, Mark loses and she
wins. She smiles as she drops her hands from the wheel, "You're better
than alright. You nearly beat me."
"That doesn't mean I'm better than alright."
"Yeah it does. I play nearly everyone that comes in here, it's my job."
Her eyes widen as she realizes she said last and Mark asks, "Your job?"
Her face reddens slightly as she glances around, "Yeah. I...it's not a
job exactly. I just hangout here and play games. They give me the
quarters and I create a little competition."
"That explains why you're good."
She smirks, "Thanks." She looks in the eye with her pleading green
eyes, "Please don't tell anyone."
"Only if you tell me your name and I get a rematch after I use the
bathroom."
She slides out of the chair, "Linsey."
"Mark."
Linsey smiles nervously, "Come find me when you get back. I'll be in
here."
Returning from the bathroom, Mark finds Linsey in a fierce dance match
and the two Initial Version 3 chairs are full. He shrugs walking past
the two and removing two quarters from his pocket.
He makes his way to the back wall where one of his favorite fighting
games resides and he slides the quarters into Marvel Vs. Capcom 2,
hitting the start button. Nothing happens and he hits the start button
again. The screen goes blank, he curses, and tries to get his coins
out, but fails to free his two quarters. "Damn it."
Linsey asks, "What's wrong, Mark?"
"I put two quarters in, pressed start, and the damn thing went off."
"Strange." She crouches and reaches in between the machines, flips the
power strip off and then back on again. The screens on the machines
flicker to life again and Linsey rises to her feet, "That should fix
it."
The screen comes to life again and displays a man with various options.
"This isn't Marvel Vs. Capcom 2."
Linsey studies the screen, "Hey, cool you can design your own fighter."
"Hmm." Mark changes the man to a woman and smiles, "That's better."
Linsey leans against the side of the console, "So you like fighting as

"Yeah, I get a kick out of seeing women fight." He changes the hair
color to black and makes it longer than the shoulders. He feels his

An hour passes and several continues later, Mark beats the game. He
