Auntie Mame's Niece, Part 4: Back to Macy's
It was hard to believe it had only been three or four hours since Mom
had dropped me off to visit with Auntie Mame for the summer. At the
time, I'd been a real boy, wearing blue jeans and a comfortable tee
shirt. Now, we were walking out of Lisa's Beauty Salon hand in hand, and
everything had changed, from the ribbon in my hair to my embroidered
short dress to my Mary Jane shoes. I still wore the unmistakably girly
scent of J'Ador, the perfume Auntie Mame had layered on me - perfumed
bubble bath, perfumed body lotion, perfumed body powder, and perfume
itself sprayed on my neck and wrists, with a big spray floating down on
my clothes for good measure. Auntie Mame had called that "layering" and
said it makes the smell last. Well, I had to admit, she knew what she
was talking about.
"Auntie May, I'm a little uncomfortable. Can we go home now?" I pleaded.
"Why, is something hurting?"
"No ma'am. It's just that everybody keeps talking about me being a girl,
and my dress is so short my peepee sticks out sometimes and everybody
talks about that too!"
"Ah. You're a little embarrassed, yes?"
"Yes."
"Not quite comfy being one of the girls?"
"No ma'am."
"So Patricia, how do you get used to something new?"
"You do it?"
"Exactly! You're thinking if you could go home, pull on some blue jeans
and act like a boy, you'd be able to start fresh with your new look in
the morning, right?"
"I guess so. Why couldn't I?"
"Because, sweetie, you don't learn to be a girl by being a boy. I don't
want you all confused. Well, all girls your age are a little confused,
and that little penis problem isn't making it any easier, is it?"
"Well, I do wish people would quit talking about it."
For the first time ever, Auntie Mame laughed out loud. "Oh, sweetie, the
great thing about you is that you're so cute and funny, everybody's just
comfortable with you right off the bat. That's a gift. Consider it a
compliment! And your little dickie is cute as can be!"
"Thanks, I guess. But if I'm supposed to be a girl, it shouldn't be
showing, should it? I wish it would stop."
Auntie Mame had stopped at a red light and turned to me with a large
smile. She reached over, reached over and squeezed me through the dress.
"He's not acting up now. Oops, there he is! Well. Here's what I think. I
think it's a very good sign that you're wanting to keep it out of sight
because it makes it harder for people to think of you as a girl. AND,
it's a good sign that it's sticking out so much, because it's healthy
and it means you're really enjoying all this girly attention. Aren't
you?"
"Enjoying dressing like a girl?"
"Among other things. You can tell me you're not, but your little friend
there tells me you're liking it very much. Oh, tuck him in. We're back
at the Mall!"
We walked back into Macy's, with me leaning forward a little to try to
drape the dress more over my dickie.
"Goodness gracious, don't walk like an old man!" She laughed. "Or a
young one either, young lady. Oh, good, there's Mandy. Hi, Mandy!"
"Hello girls. Did you get my message at Lisa's? Look at these skirts we
just got in!"
Mandy took me by the hand and walked over to a rack that had just been
rolled out. "Oh look, you got your nails done. And that purse looks
really cute. Did Brandi do you nails, too?"
"No ma'am, but she was sitting right next to Ellie while she did them,
and we talked a lot."
Mandy laughed and pretended to be whispering to Auntie Mame, but talking
in a loud voice. "One thing Brandy can do is talk, that's for sure."
Turning back to me, she added, "You know, when you left the store
earlier, you didn't look very feminine from the neck up, but you surely
do now. Your hair's cute as can be, and I think that ribbon's just
perfect, don't you?"
"It's fine," I said.
"Well, the reason I was so excited is that - well, you know that little
stickout problem we were having? We just got this new line of little
flared skirts. They're tiny - you'll have to sit like a little lady,
that's for sure. But they're full just at the hemline, which happens to
be right about where your little thing is sticking out. See how it's
doing?"
It was true. All this attention had my dickie standing straight out,
stiff as it could possibly be, bunching up the fold of my dress.
Mandy reached out with her manicured finger and twiddled it back and
forth. "See, Mame? The dress you have on now is longer, so it hangs down
straighter through this area. These little flared minis will be full
right there, and if he's sticking out, it won't show as much." She held
her hand against my dickie to show the spot.
Auntie Mame reached over and smoothed her hand over me several times,
pushing it down, but it sprang back stronger each time. She laughed. "It
really is cute, isn't it?"
Mandy laughed in turn. "Oh, it really is. So look up there and pick out
a couple you'd like to try. There are some plaids and colors, but the
plaids will probably cover better."
Suddenly, I wanted to cry, and Mandy noticed.
"Oh, sweetie, what's wrong. Did we embarrass you again?"
"Maybe a little, and I miss my mother."
Mandy looked over at Auntie Mame. "They're traveling all summer," my
aunt said, answering the unspoken question. "It's just us girls for
now."
Mandy suddenly hugged me. "Oh, sweetie. I'm sorry. Are you a little
lonely? How about letting me be your special friend. What do you think?"
I looked up at Auntie Mame, who smiled and nodded.
"Sure, that would be nice. I guess I just feel funny that everybody
keeps notice my, you know, problem."
"Oh sweetie, you don't have a problem. Think of this. Our clothes have
to fit our bodies just right so they look pretty, so we have to pay
attention to every little thing. Look," she said, pressing her breasts
together so that a deep cleavage occurred in her scoop-necked blouse. "I
used to just have little bitty boobies, and I had to buy clothes just
for them. But I saved up and got some implants, so now they're a lot
bigger. Now when I shop for clothes, it affects my bra size, type bra,
type of top or dress and everything else about me. Now, I wouldn't be
able to shop very well if I tried to ignore them, would I?"
"I guess not," I said.
Auntie Mame had been listening. "You know, I had implants too. When I
first walk into a store, the first thing I have to do is tell the
salesgirl my bra size. But it's not just that. Buying clothes is really
about talking about our bodies. How long our legs are. The foot and arch
of our feet. The length and thickness of our neck. Our waste. You just
have an extra little part there, but on the other hand, you don't have
any breasts - yet," she said.
"So it's okay?"
"Of course it's okay, sweetie," said Mandy. "It's so much more than
okay! Now, let's get to work. What do you think of this skirt, with this
little blouse?"
"Well, I don't know what she thinks, but I'd say it's the cutest thing
ever. Get in there and try that on, Patricia."
After a few minutes, I gave up on the zipper and asked for help. "I'll
get it," said Brandi. "Mame's over there looking at some more. She
pulled up sharply on the skirt and pulled up the zipper. She took me by
the hand and walked me over to the rack of other skirts. The realization
that the bottom of the tiny skirt was almost exactly the level of my
dickie left me feeling uneasy.
"That's just too cute for words," Auntie Mame effused. "And look, it's
so short and flares out so that you can't see it at all. Let's see,
honey, is it up or down."
She pulled up the front of the skirt and felt my dickie, which was most
assuredly up.
"Wow! You like this, don't you?" She let the skirt fall back down. "But
look, it doesn't show at all. Walk over and turn around, honey."
She pointed to a chair in the waiting area. The flared skirt seemed to
ride up, making me feel more exposed than ever. Mandy squealed.
"Sweetheart, we're going to have to give you some walking lessons," she
said. "Sit down a second."
I plopped into the chair, and my knees fell to the sides as they always
did.
"Sitting lessons too, I'd say," said Auntie Mame. "Honey, you'll need to
take shorter steps and always keep your knees together. You don't want
to just show everybody everything, do you?"
No, I didn't, but it didn't seem possible not to.
"Try it again," said Auntie Mame.
I stood, walked a few steps, and sat back down. "Knees together, cross
your ankles and pull them up under you to the other side," said Mame.
"Much better, but it's going to be very difficult to break old habits,"
Mandy looked pulled my skirt up to see how I was situated and looked
thoughtful.
"Mame, you know sometimes it helps to have a training aid. I wonder -
hear me out - if maybe going without panties for a while would help her
be aware of how she's walking and sitting? If she does it right,
everything will be fine. But I think she'll be less likely to get
careless."
I couldn't believe what they were hearing. I was to have an uncovered
dickie beneath a skirt that barely covered it by less than an inch?
"Let's see," said Mame. "Stand up, sweetheart." She reached under the
skirt and pulled my panties down around my ankles, pulling them over my
shoes. "Now walk around a little."
I felt totally naked, as if the whole world could see.
"Much better," said Mandy."Now let's see you sit down."
Holding my knees tight against each other, I sat slowly but lost my
balance, and dropped into the chair, my knees flailing apart.
Both ladies laughed aloud.
"Oops. When I said let's see, I didn't mean to see that much! As you can
see, it's harder than it looks," she laughed.
I crossed my ankles and Auntie Mame reached over to adjust the skirt,
lifting it briefly. She laughed again. "Maybe we'd best pass on that for
the time being," she said. "But it wouldn't hurt to leave her panties
off at home where nobody will see when she ... forgets."
"No, it wouldn't hurt at all," said Mandy.
Soon, we had several new skirts and blouses, and Mandy checked us out.
"You're just too cute for words," she said. "See you soon!"
