Oh, the webs we weave when we attempt to deceive. Mary, with good
intentions, weaves a web that quickly spins out of control. Mary's web
captures her and her son, Carol, in a trap that keeps getting deeper
and deeper with no end in sight. All the while, the spider's gleaming
red eyes observe and enjoy just how deep and intricate the web is
woven.
OH THE WEBS WE WEAVE
Mary Mathews grabbed the mail as she passed the mail box and was
shuffling through it as she hurried into her apartment.
"Ouch!" she exclaimed as her toe hit the baseball bat on the kitchen
floor sending it spinning across the floor. "Darn it kids! I've told
you a hundred times not to leave your stuff scattered all over the
house.
"Sorry Mom," the two boys shouted at about the same time.
She stopped by the kitchen table and raised her left foot to rub at the
snubbed toe in the open toed sandal. Then she saw the notice of
attempted delivery of certified mail.
"Oh shit!" she said loud enough for her kids to hear. "Sorry boys. I
shouldn't have said that."
"What's the matter Mom?" Edward said as he and his younger brother
Carol came into the room.
"I got a certified letter to pick up at the post office tomorrow and
these letters usually spell nothing but trouble. I can't imagine why
some law firm would be sending me such a letter. I just pray it doesn't
have anything to do with a law suit. I hate getting these notices; they
are nothing but an ill wind. Well never mind. I'll worry about it but
can't get to it until the morning. Now you kids get started with dinner
while I go change. Edward, you start the pasta, Carol you set the table
and get the salad ready. I'll be back shortly."
Mary went into her bedroom and began taking off her clothing. Today had
been a slow one at the department store where she worked days. It
didn't pay much primarily commission and she hardly sold anything
today. At least it provided her with hospitalization insurance for her
and the two boys. She had a little over an hour to get to her second
job at the cafe. She put the mail notice on her dresser where she
wouldn't forget it and rushed to her shower.
"Hi guys," she said cheerfully as she came back into the kitchen.
Edward was stirring the pot of boiling pasta, Carol had the salad just
about finished and the table all set. She grabbed the tomato sauce from
the refrigerator and placed it in the microwave. "Look Eddie darling,"
she continued, "summer break starts in a couple of weeks and I really
need you to get a job. You are old enough and I really would appreciate
the help. Most of it will go towards your college costs when you start
next year but it will help us with expenses."
"What about me?" Carol shouted. "I can get a job too."
"Oh Carol you are such a dear but I need you here to keep the apartment
clean and help do the chores. When you turn nineteen, we'll see about
getting you a real job but for now I need you here."
"Mom, I think I already have one for the summer and on weekends too.
Mr. Green at the Ace Hardware store said he would like to have me all
summer to put together lawnmowers, bikes and such and help with the
repairs. Mostly it would be repairing the mowers but he'd pay me $7.00
an hour plus any overtime. He wants me to start this weekend if that is
okay with you?" Edward said.
"That is great Eddie and seven dollars an hour is good pay. I don't
make that at the store. Just remember it can't interfere with your
homework while school is still in session."
Mary was very proud of her two sons. They were good kids despite
growing up in a single family environment with no other relatives to
help out. Edward worked hard at his grades and did little odd jobs to
help with expenses. Carol, for his part, did more than she would have
expected from a young teen. He cleaned the house and did the laundry
and whatever other household chores that he could without complaint.
The next morning Mary got up a little earlier than normal in order to
get to the post office before she had to be at work. She was tired and
the few hours of sleep that she got were precious to her. She was a
single mother since her husband Ben had been killed in an accident.
Ben had been her heart throb throughout high school and they were
married just after graduation. Edward soon followed and Ben with the
added responsibilities of fatherhood and the prospects of a dead end
job began drinking. He couldn't handle all that pressure at such a
young age and the imminent birth of a second child increased his
drinking. One night, after several beers too many, he drove his car
into a large oak head on. Mary was left with Edward, one on the way and
no money to pay the bills. Bill's employer, Carol Manning, carried her
on the company's insurance plan until the child was born. In gratitude,
Mary named the boy Carol. Life was hard but Mary was determined to
bring her children up as best she could.
Despite all her hard work the family finances just kept getting worse
and worse. She was depressed that Edward would not be able to attend
college unless he got a full scholarship. Their finances would not
allow it and while he was an excellent student he would only be getting
a scholarship to the local community college. The schools he wanted to
attend had all refused to grant him the necessary scholarship as he did
not meet their diversification program criteria. Grants and loans were
available but fell woefully short of the needed away from home costs.
She kept up a brave front for Edward's sake but knew that his desires
would go unfulfilled.
She relied on herself as there was no one else. Bill's parents had a
very bitter divorce long before high school and they had no contact
with his father. Bill's relationship with his mother was not much
better and they constantly argued. As soon as Bill graduated, his
mother sold their house and left for parts unknown telling Bill she had
no further use for him. As a result, Mary did not know how to contact
them much less of where they were. Her family was almost as tragic. Her
father was killed in Viet Nam and her mother died of cancer just after
Carol was born. So she was truly alone.
Mary signed for the letter and stuffed it into her purse and headed to
the department store where she worked from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Monday through Saturday. Fortunately, the store was busy today and she
made some good commissions. At 5:00 she hurried home to change into her
waitress uniform. The uniform was simple, consisting of starched white
long sleeved blouse, black full skirt with two white net petticoats to
float it out, black support hose and black flats with a rubber gum
sole. Dressed, she then helped the kids get dinner ready.
She worked the dinner from 7:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. Tuesday through
Saturday and did the church lunch crowd on Sundays. Now that she was
older, she was beginning to feel the stress and strain of her work
schedule. Mary was looking forward to the day her kids could get part
time jobs to help out. She would love to quit her waitress job as it
was the hardest on her body.
She did not remember the letter until she sat down to eat dinner with
the kids. She opened it and silently read it.
"What's it say Mom?" Edward asked.
"Yeah, Mom what's it say?" chimed in Carol.
"Oh my," she said as she finished reading it for the second time. "It's
from your Great Aunt Beatrice's lawyers. I didn't even know Bill had a
great aunt. Say's here that she is looking to get reacquainted with her
relatives and especially any female children. How strange? She must be
worth a whole lot of money if she can afford lawyers to track down her
relatives like this. Oh well I guess I'll write her anyway and tell her
what happened to Bill."
"Mom why don't you tell her Carol is a girl? He's got a girl's name
anyway hahaha."
"Mom!" Carol protested.
"Eddie Carol can be a boy's or a girl's name and I've told you why I
named your brother Carol. Carol Manning was a true gentleman and I
don't know what I would have done without his help. Now behave
yourself."
Mary held the letter in her hand looking down at it but yet not seeing
it. "Emmmm," she thought, "maybe Eddie has something there. I don't
really have to say that Carol is a boy. Maybe she's on death's doorstep
and that will be the end of it. So what if she may think Carol is a
girl, I just won't tell her he's a boy."
Mary began writing her letter.
Dear Great Aunt Beatrice:
I am sorry to have to tell you that your grandnephew Bill has passed.
We were married far too short of a time and I loved him dearly. Bill
and I have had two beautiful children Edward and Carol. I have not
remarried and have committed all my energies into raising our two
beautiful children.
Edward is the eldest and takes after his father while Carol takes after
me. It has been difficult raising two teenagers as you might expect.
Both have excellent school records and give me much pleasure. Edward
has gotten a summer job to help with the expenses and lovely Carol does
most of the household chores. I don't know what I would do without
them.
Your letter came as a great surprise as I did not know Bill had a great
aunt. I have no family of my own and getting to know you would be a
thrill if you would care to pursue the matter. I have no idea where
Bill's parents are and would love to have further contact with you.
Sincerely,
Mary Conroy
"Short and simple," Mary said to herself. "I did not lie and told her
just enough. Maybe she will contact us again or drop the matter. In any
event we've lived our lives alone and we can keep on doing that without
Beatrice's in our lives."
She placed the letter into the out going mail slot and went back to
work. Things got busy at the store and she forgot all about the letter
and Great Aunt Beatrice.
Ooo
About two weeks later Mary's cell phone rang. "Hello," she answered.
"Mary is that you dear? This is your Great Aunt Beatrice calling. Do
you have a minute?"
"Of course I do Great Aunt Beatrice," Mary replied. "It is so nice to
hear from you. What can I do for you?"
Mary listened is stunned disbelief as Beatrice spoke. When she finally
hung up her head was buzzing like a bee hive. It struck her as odd that
Great Aunt Beatrice had her cell number but there was too much else the
think about. First she would have to take a couple of days off work and
then she had to do something about Carol.
"Oh My God what have I done?" she said as she placed one hand upside
her right cheek. "She wants to see her Grand Niece Carol! I....I...I've
got to think of something."
"What's the matter Mary?" the sales clerk standing nearby asked.
"Oh Nancy.....it's nothing...My..my Great Aunt Beatrice is coming to
visit this weekend in her private jet and wants to meet my family.
I....I am, well, stunned to say the least. Just a couple of weeks ago,
I didn't even know I had a Great Aunt and now she is coming to visit in
her private jet. Can you believe it...her private jet? I need to see
Joan about getting this Friday and Saturday off. Excuse me."
For the rest of the week Mary was a wreck. She now knew for certain
that Great Aunt Beatrice had a whole lot of money and that she wanted
to meet her only female relation Carol. Maybe if she could get Carol to
agree to pretend to be a girl just for this weekend everything would be
alright. Great Aunt Beatrice would be happy and leave them to go about
their daily business without any further complications.
If Carol could pull it off, then, just maybe, Carol would be set for
life as the only heir to Great Aunt Beatrice's fortune. Her only
problem would be convincing Carol to go along with her on this crazy
idea. Her maternal instincts warred with her financial need and could
she do this to her youngest son? She pondered that thought for some
time but the rewards would be so great that she decided to ask Carol to
pretend for just awhile.
"Carol I need to talk to you before I go to the cafe," she said as she
came home that night.
"Yeah sure Mom," he replied and followed her into her bedroom.
"Carol what I have to ask of you is very very important and I want you
to give it serious thought while I am at work tonight. You don't have
to give me an answer until tomorrow morning but I want you to really
think about it," she told him as he entered the room.
"Okay but what are you talking about?" he replied curiously.
"Remember when we were talking about your Great Aunt Beatrice? Well she
called me today and she wants....she wants to meet her Great Grand
Niece so that she can decide whether or not to leave all her wealth to
her on her passing. Uh... that niece is you Carol. She thinks that you
are a girl and wants to meet you this weekend. Now before you say
anything, consider how much better off this family will be if you get
her inheritance. I won't have to work two jobs and you and your brother
can go to any college that you desire. All you have to do is pretend to
be a girl for the weekend."
"Mom are you nuts! How can I possibly pass as a girl? Look at me. I'm a
guy. One look and she will certainly know what I am."
"I'm not so certain about that Carol darling," Mary said. "You are thin
and slight in frame, you haven't really grown much, your hair is a
little long for a boy and with the right clothing I think you would
make a very pleasing young lady."
"Look Mom if you think I am going to wear a dress, I don't think I am
going to do it. Besides Edward will rag the hell out of me for even
thinking about doing this," Carol came back at her.
"Carol sweetie you won't have to wear a dress. Just put on some girl
jeans and maybe a top, not too feminine and maybe just a bit of make
up. Nothing else feminine just enough to let her think that you are a
tom boyish young lady that's all... I swear. I promise that Eddie will
not tease you in any way or make fun of you. Please let's just try it
and afterwards if you don't want to do it.... Well... I will
understand."
Carol acquiesced to his mother's will seeing how important it was to
her. "Well... if you promise that I won't have to wear a dress and that
Edward will not tease me I'll think about it. If I think I look like a
dork then I won't do it, okay?"
"Oh baby," Mary said as she took him into her arms and gave him a big
hug. "Think about how important this is to our family darling. If
Beatrice thinks you're her niece it could mean a great monetary reward
for all of us. It will get us out of this cheap apartment and you and
Eddie into a great college. Honey there is no way on this earth that I
could afford to send both of you to college or come close to what
Beatrice's money could do to advance your life. Baby I don't want you
to have to live your life like I have had to do. Working two jobs with
no future in sight just continued drudgery and little hope for a better
life style. "
"Please think about it darling. If you decide to do this you really
will have to put an effort into it. You can't just put on a pair of
girl's jeans and expect to be taken for a girl. I will teach you what
you will need to know. We will have to start first thing tomorrow when
you get home from school. It won't be that difficult. Agreeing to my
plan will mean that you will have to really try hard to be the best
daughter I ever had. Now think about this over night and let me know in
the morning. Understand?"
That night Carol did not sleep well. What his mother was asking him to
do was so weird. He never pictured in his mind what he would look like
as a girl but his imagination ran wild that night. He had visions of
wearing fancy ball gowns and tons of make up and having to act very
fairy like. He pictured himself in a dress with a bunch of guys
standing around pointing fingers at him and calling him a fag, queer
and fairy. His imagination was quickly turning into a nightmare when
his alarm went off. As he groggily got out of bed he wasn't so sure
that he could do this.
At breakfast Edward asked him if he was going to do it. "Carol, look
man, are you going to be Great Aunt Beatrice's precious little niece?
No don't look at me like that. I'm serious bro. You got to do it for
the sake of the family. Look if you can pull this off I can go to
Harvard and if I'm lucky enough to get the grades into their law school
program. Like man that is a guaranteed successful life for me. I could
never do it on what Mom has stashed away for our education. Look at you
bro you could go to that school down in Florida that you have been
talking so much about. Think of the possibilities man. That's all I'm
asking. I promise I won't do anything to mess you up in this bro."
"Yeah but what if some of our friends find out about all this. I'll be
a laughing stock and probably beaten into a pulp for good measure.
Besides how can I pull something like this off? I'm no girl! If good
old Great Aunt Beatrice has all that money she can't be a moron. She
would see right through me. I might get away with it for awhile but if
she sees me for any length of time she'll figure it out, won't she?"
Carol responded.
"Look bro just do what you have to do and listen to Mom," Edward
continued. "She won't get her little baby into something he can't get
out of. Now would she? Look I know it will be hard but think of the
prize man, yeah, just think of the prize. She's got her own private jet
of all things and it could be all ours. She's probably an old bag on
her last legs and her eyesight is most likely gone as well. You won't
have any problems passing as her niece. Man I promise to help all I can
and if any of the guys find out, well, I'll beat them snot faced. So
don't you worry about nuthin' and try to be the best sister you can
be."
"Shit Edward you make it sound like it will be so damn easy. I tell you
right here and now that Great Aunt Beatrice won't be that easily
fooled. Sumptin' in my gut tells me that I aint gonna like this one
damn bit. If you think it is so easy why don't cha do it yourself?"
"Cause my name aint Carol mutton head," Edward finished by rubbing his
knuckles on Carol's head giving him a nucky.
"Hey what's this all about?" their mother asked as she entered the
kitchen.
"Nuthin' Mom. Just explaining to Carol here some things about what we
talked about last night. Wanted to let him know that I won't tease
him....too much that is," Edward said as he left the room.
"Eddie," she exclaimed in exasperation at his parting back. "Carol
honey have you decided what you are going to do. If you say yes then I
will have to get some things for you while I am at the store."
"Okay Mom I will give it a try," he replied with a sigh.
"Honey you can't just give it a try," she said while shaking her finger
at him for emphasis. "You will have to do your absolute best this
weekend to be my daughter. It will require some effort on your part and
you will probably have to swallow your pride a bit to succeed. While
your aunt is here you will sleep in my bedroom with me and not with
your brother. We'll get the cot out this evening and try to make it as
comfortable as possible. I don't want to take any chances this weekend.
So beginning tonight after you get home from school you will spend the
next ninety six hours as my daughter. Any questions? No well have a
good day at school. Thank heavens this is the last week of school so
maybe I can do something with your hair before Beatrice gets here."
"Man what did I let myself in for?" Carol said to himself as he walked
to school. He had today and a half day Friday and school would be out
for the summer. He should have been happier than a bear stuck in a
honey pot but was worried about his Great Aunt Beatrice and what he
would have to do. His gut was telling him that she would be no push
over but his heart was telling him to help out his family. If he had to
be a girl to do it then he might as well bite the bullet and do the
best he could. He didn't like it but just maybe he could get it done
and over with in one weekend.
Ooo
That night Mary presented him with a pair of girl's jeans, a pink man's
styled cotton dress shirt, pair of navy and white oxfords, pink
training bra and pink cotton panties.
"Mom what's with the bra and panties? I can't wear those," Carol
pleaded.
"Sweetie first of all, girls your age are probably bigger in the chest
than this training bra size that I got for you and second, boxers will
rumple and clump inside these tight jeans. To pass you just will have
to wear what I've gotten you or you can wear a dress. Now get undressed
and let me see how this looks on you. Oh here is a pair of knee highs
or you can go without socks. I'll be right outside the door if you need
any help. Just call if you do and do not take all night dear."
Carol shook out the jeans to see that there was an embroidered floral
pattern in bright greens, pinks, reds and yellows twining up the legs
to mid-calf and had a similar floral design over the back pockets. The
jeans had a front zipper even if it was much shorter in length than his
boy jeans. He took the panties and pulled them up his legs with some
reluctance. "At least they are cotton," he thought but they felt funny
sitting low on his hips and snug in the crotch.
The training bra took him some effort to get on but he managed to get
the single hook and eye to meet at his back. The straps were loose on
his shoulders but he didn't know how to fix that problem. He'd tell his
Mom when she came back in. The shirt buttoned funny but felt no
different than his regular dress shirts.
The jeans were a different matter. They clung to his legs and butt like
they were a second skin and the crotch pulled very uncomfortably at his
manhood. He had to strain to get the button closed and pulling up the
zipper was almost impossible. The jeans were so tight that he couldn't
pull the zipper all the way up. When he bent over to get his shoes he
felt the rear seam of the jeans dig into his ass cheeks and the crotch
painfully tugging at his groin. He decided against using the knee highs
and slipped his bare feet into the shoes. Dressed, he called his mother
into the room just knowing that this was all for nothing.
When Mary saw him she had to stifle a laugh. "Oh honey this just won't
do," she said. "Here let me go and get you something else to wear that
will help those jeans fit better."
She wasn't gone very long and returned with two things in her hands. In
one hand was some white garment and in the other she held a pair of
pliers.
"What are those for?" he asked looking puzzled.
"Carol this is a panty girdle," She said as she held up the white
garment. "It will help remove that uncomfortable looking lump in your
pants and the pliers are to help you zip up. Come on, now drop those
jeans and pull up the girdle. It will probably feel better if you tuck
your boy parts back underneath yourself."
With reluctance Carol dropped the jeans and pulled them off his feet.
Taking the shiny white fabric in his hands he examined the strange
garment. It was a white matte finished fabric that stretched as he
pulled at it but there was a bright shiny lacy white satin diamond on
the front of the girdle which didn't seem to stretch as much as the
rest of the fabric. Turning his back to his Mother he removed the
panties and slowly pulled the restricting garment up his legs after
adjusting his equipment into a more comfortable package pulled it
tightly up to his waist.
When he looked at himself in his mother's full length mirror his groin
was as smooth as a girl's. He blushed as he gathered the jeans and
pulled them up his legs and strained to button them again. His mother
motioned him over to the bed where she told him to lay down and to take
the pliers and use them to pull up the zipper. Surprisingly the zipper
with the added grip of the pliers quickly zipped into place.
"It's a secret known to most women," his mother laughingly said as he
sat up on the bed. "Now dear I think you need just a little padding in
your bra to give a hint of breasts so put these cloth pads in each cup.
Fine now let's get you fixed up with a little make up and maybe we can
style your hair into a nice page boy with some pretty bangs.
When he opened his shirt to insert the pads into his bra he remembered
the loose straps and mentioned it to his mother. She had him remove the
shirt and showed him how to adjust the straps. She couldn't resist
pulling out the back of the bra and letting it snap back. Him jumped
and let out a little squeak.
"I'm sorry darling. I just couldn't help it. Boys your age use to do
that to me and I just wanted you to feel how that felt," she said with
a giggle.
"Mom I would never do something like that," was all he said with a
slight blush to his cheeks.
A few minutes later Carol was looking at a fairly pretty young teenage
girl in the full length mirror. "Oh shit!" H exclaimed as he examined
his reflection. "I look like a girl. I really do."
"See honey," his mother said, "I just knew that you could pull this
off. However wearing girl's clothing does not make you a girl. You are
going to have to learn how to walk, move your arms and hips in a
totally different manner between now and Saturday morning when we go to
meet Beatrice. Come on back into the living room and we will practice
everything you will need to know."
"Hey! What about Edward? He will see me. Mom, I'd be too embarrassed
for him to watch me learning how to act like a stupid girl." Carol
protested. "I don't want him seeing me like this."
"Don't be silly Carol. Eddie will have to see you soon enough and he
will have to get use to seeing you looking like a pretty young lady.
Remember that we all have a role to play here. So come along and let's
get started. We have a lot to do and a short period of time to get it
done."
Ooo
"Mom you missed the turn. It's back the other way," Edward said while
his mother drove. "You will have to make a U-turn then take the first
left to get to the airport."
"Oh dear I guess I am just so nervous about meeting your Great Aunt
Beatrice. Bear with me children," Mary said as she slowed to make the
turn.
"What about me? You seem to be forgetting about what I am going
through. I'm the one sweating bullets here. Mom let's stop this
nonsense right now and tell Aunt Beatrice the truth. I'm sure that she
will be understanding and maybe even willing to help us out. Come on
Mom! Please let's stop this right now before I get into trouble,"
exclaimed Carol sitting beside his mother in the front seat.
"It's too late now darling," Mary said. "I mean you look like a
beautiful young lady and you did not hear Beatrice's excitement as she
talked about meeting you. I think if she discovered the truth after
coming all this way....well she'd probably disown us. So do your best
to remember what I taught you about acting like a lady. Short strides
and keep your hands out of your pockets and be sweet. Ahhh here we are
at the terminal. I didn't even know this airport was even here. Okay
kids the show is on. Eddie remember your manners and open the door for
us ladies, remember to be polite and whatever you do don't laugh at
your sister. Carol honey, don't forget to get your purse and walk with
small steps one foot in front of the other. Let's do this. Oh my just
look at the size of that limo parked over there."
As they entered the foyer of the terminal they saw a small group of
people sitting off to one side. Seated in the middle of the crowd was
an older very distinguished looking woman. She had grey hair streaked
with black tied in a sever bun at the back. She wore a grey silk
business suit, a black silk blouse with a large ruffled lace jabot. Her
make up was impeccable and suitable for an older woman. She was a woman
of both class and authority.
Mary just knew that she had to be Great Aunt Beatrice. "Auntie
Beatrice," she exclaimed as she rushed over to them. Edward and Carol
followed in her wake.
The woman rose to her feet and sternly examined the woman coming her
way. She was surprisingly tall standing almost six foot in her three
inch black pumps. "Young woman you are late," was all she said as Mary
and the kids arrived.
"Errr....I...I'm sorry but we got lost. I don't get to this side of
town very often," Mary stammered an apology.
"Well that doesn't matter now. I am Mz. Nelson. Your Great Aunt
Beatrice's associate and confidant. I assume you are Mary Conroy and
your children. Miss Beatrice will be here shortly. She is in the lady's
freshening up for your meeting. However before you meet, I want to make
it perfectly clear that you are in fact Mrs. Mary William Conroy wife
of William "Bill" Conroy and these are your children by marriage,
Edward and Carol Conroy?"
"Why yes of course I am and they are. Why else would I be here?" Mary
answered somewhat shocked at Mz Nelson's attitude.
"You'd be surprised at how many people have tried to take advantage of
Miss Beatrice's good nature in the past. It is my job to make sure Miss
Beatrice's welfare is maintained in the highest quality. Would you
please introduce me to your children?" Mz Nelson stated.
"Oh...yeah...sure," Mary responded still confused and intimidated by
this woman standing before her. "This is my eldest Edward and
my...my.... daughter Carol."
Edward stepped forward and shook the proffered hand with a nervous
smile on his lips. Carol did the same once he moved out of the way.
Neither of them looked up into the intimidating eyes of Mz Nelson. It
seemed like an eternity to Carol as he stood before the woman towering
above him. She seemed to scrutinize him forever before releasing his
hand and turning to his mother.
"Your daughter has a firm grip... unusual for such a shy little thing,"
was all Mz. Nelson said before turning toward a younger man dressed in
a dark blue pin striped suit. "Robert would you please hand Mrs. Conroy
the papers."
As Robert did as he was told Mz. Nelson focused her attention first to
Carol and then to Mary. "Mrs. Conroy," she began, "these papers are
affidavits attesting to the facts as you just relayed to me. Simply
stated.... that you are the wife of William and that these
children...Edward your son and......Carol.....your daughter are in fact
and deed who you claim to be. It is just a legal formality for the
protection of Miss Beatrice and yourselves of course. Should Miss
Beatrice pass, heaven forbid any time soon, your claims to her estate
will be eased in any legal proceedings. So if you would sign were
Robert tells you and we can get on with our little visit."
With trembling fingers Mary took the pen and after casting a glance at
Carol signed the papers. Her last chance to make things right was now
past and the spinning of the web progresses.
As she handed the papers back to Robert a smallish slightly stooped
shouldered grey haired woman approached the group. Tastefully made up
and wearing her grey hair styled in a page boy Great Aunt Beatrice
looked like a well dressed grandmother. Her smile filled her wrinkled
face and her eyes danced as she saw Carol standing beside his mother.
"Oh my goodness sakes alive, you must be my great niece Carol," she
said. "My my child, you are simply beautiful and I cannot begin to tell
you just how happy seeing you makes me."
Turning to Mz. Nelson she continued, "Margaret please have the limo
brought around and we'll be off to the hotel. I would really like to
settle in and have some time to get to know my grand niece in a more
comfortable atmosphere."
Without missing a beat she turned to Mary, "And you my dear must be
Mary. It is so nice to finally meet you. I just wish that I had known
about you and your family so much sooner. Alas hindsight is always
twenty-twenty. Please introduce me to your family."
"Oh yes Great Aunt Beatrice. It would be my pleasure. This is my eldest
Edward who hopes to one day be a Harvard Law School graduate and my
precious Carol," Mary quickly responded.
"Well come here children and give your old Aunt B a big hug. I haven't
had a good hug in ages," Beatrice said.
Beatrice held onto Carol's hug a bit longer than Edward's and as they
embraced whispered, "My dear you are such a rough cut jewel but you
will become a precious diamond when I am finished with you."
Carol mumbled a soft thank you and backed away. He was not at all
comfortable at how things were going. He was beginning to feel an
annoying flutter in his guts telling him to run like the blazes but
managed to restrain himself from bolting.
"Uh... Great Aunt Beatrice," Mary began only to be told by her to call
her Auntie B.
"My close friends call me Miss B but since you are kin please call me
Auntie or Auntie B."
"Auntie B I was hoping that you would come to our apartment. We have
the guest room all set up and......" Mary began but was stopped by
Beatrice.
"I appreciate the thought dear but as you can see I have a rather large
entourage with me. Why don't you follow us....no you and the children
can accompany me in the limo while Robert and the others can follow in
your car. That is if you don't mind having someone else drive your
car."
"Oh no, I don't have a problem with that and I think the children would
enjoy riding in a limo," Mary replied. She wanted Auntie on her home
turf where she could maintain some semblance of control. That obviously
was not going to happen now and she certainly couldn't refuse.
The limo had no problem accommodating all five of them and probably the
rest of the entourage could have sat comfortably in it as well. During
the drive to the swankiest hotel in the city Auntie B had Mary relate
her life story to her. Carol and Edward did their best to be
inconspicuous and out of the conversation. Carol however was keenly
aware of the ever present penetrating gaze of Mz. Nelson. She scared
him. Under that gaze Carol made sure that his knees were pressed
tightly together and his hands primly folded on his purse sitting in
his lap.
They entered the Presidential Suite of the hotel and were greeted by
the suite's resident butler. Auntie B instructed him to serve whatever
her guests required while she went to get into something more
comfortable. To say that the Conroy family was awe struck would be an
understatement. The glass walls with the exquisite drapery folded back
gave a magnificent view of the city far below. The fancy furnishings
and gilded fixtures simply were something they had never experienced.
Having a butler take their drink order and serve them was amazing.
In this fabulous environment Mary pulled her children in close and
whispered, "My darlings remember this could all be ours someday. Carol
mind your manners and whatever you do stay in character. Ladies do not
squeeze when they shake hands. They gently press their fingers into the
open palm. You are my daughter and I expect you to act like it. Eddie
be respectful to your sister and no matter what happens remember that
she is your sister."
Auntie B returned to the spacious living room wearing a gorgeous
chiffon negligee set in a soft peach color. The gown was floor length
with a very full skirting lavished with white floral lace and bright
white satin ribbons and bows. Her shoes were matching satin slippers
with a low heel. She swept onto the lounge chair and opening her arms
said, "Welcome to my new family. I have dreamt for years of finding my
blood kin and now I have. Please take a seat and get comfortable. I
have gifts for each of you and I do hope that you will like them.
Please sit."
With that Mz. Nelson presented a small pearl colored paper with a
bright pink satin bow covered box to Mary. She opened it and found a
woman's alligator wallet and a check for $1,000 made out in her name.
She sat too stunned to even comment as Mz. Nelson moved on to Edward
and handed him a box wrapped in green paper with white satin ribbon
bow. Inside was a gift certificate to a nationally known computer
manufacturer in an amount that would let him get anything his heart
desired. His slacked jawed response kept him from saying anything as
well.
Mz. Nelson presented Carol with a very large box wrapped in bright pink
paper topped with a very fancy white lace bow. Carol had some
difficulty managing the large box sitting on his lap but finally got
the top off. Pushing the pink tissue aside he revealed a pale lavender
dress that looked like a child's satin and chiffon party dress. He was
too stunned to remove it from the box. His wide eyed slack jawed
expression could be mistaken for either absolute fear or absolute
wonder.
"Perhaps Carol would like to try it on for size," Mz. Nelson suggested
to Mary. "I'm sure Miss B would love to see her in it." The way she
said it sounded nothing like a suggestion but rather a command.
Carol was brought out of his daze by his Mother tugging on his elbow.
"Come on darling," she said. "Let's go and try on this lovely dress
that your Aunt has bought for you. You simply cannot refuse you know.
Come on dear. I know that you are shocked beyond belief at your good
fortune but let's go see how it fits."
He allowed himself to be led into a nearby bedroom. Once the door was
shut Carol looked with wide eyed terror in his eyes and said, "Mother
you have got to be kidding. I can't wear this. It is a damn dress! This
has gone too far. I don't care how much money is at stake. I just want
to stop it now and go home." With that said he broke down in tears and
sat on the bed.
"Oh baby it is way too late for that now. Remember I signed that legal
document stating under oath that you were my daughter. If you refuse to
continue doing this and we are found out we both ....no all of
us...would probably go to jail for inheritance fraud or worse. You have
to wear this dress. Remember it is just for the weekend. You can do
this. I know you can. Come on now; let's get you out of those jeans and
into this pretty dress. We have no other choice."
Reluctantly Carol rose from the bed in a zombie like state began to
undress. It did not matter that his mother stood right there in front
of him. Nothing mattered any more. He was doomed and he knew he had no
choice now. Some how his Mother's simple plan was getting a bit
complicated and he was the one paying the price tag.
Stripped to his panty girdle Mary shook out the pretty party dress and
then looked into the box. There was a white chiffon ruffled petticoat
lying underneath and under that a pair of white lace frilled nylon full
cut lavender panties with matching bra, matching garter belt and white
stockings. At the bottom of the box were a pair of white patent leather
two inch heeled pumps, a matching leather clutch purse and a pair of
white lace gloves.
"Oh....my... this... is an absolutely gorgeous outfit Carol. It must
have cost a fortune. Come into the bathroom dear we have to do
something about the hair under your arms. I didn't think it would be
necessary to shave you there when I had you shave your legs this
morning but with this dress you don't have any choice. I just hope
there is a razor in here. Come on we have to hurry. Your Auntie B wants
to see her beautiful niece."
It was total humiliation for Carol to have his arm pit hair removed...
a major vestige of his coming manhood... whisked away then to have to
put on that ridiculous dress. No girl his age would think of wearing
something that juvenile. The pale delicately embroidered lavender
garter belt was fastened around his waist and the straps threaded
through his girdle. Next his mother rolled the stockings up his legs
and fastened them to the tabs of the garter belt. Each sheer stocking
had a single lavender rose rising to calf level woven into the back
side of the fabric. The matching bra was quickly put into place and the
straps adjusted. She had him step into the full skirted chiffon
petticoat and then pulled the dress over his head and buttoned it at
the back all the way up to his neck.
The satin and chiffon dress fell to mid-knee and flared out exposing
the white petticoats underneath. The billowing sleeves were almost
transparent pale lavender chiffon with a two inch wide darker lavender
satin ruffled cuff. The high neck was also pale translucent lavender
chiffon falling to the dark lavender satin bodice frilled with delicate
white floral lace. The satin bodice fitted tightly across his expanded
chest and had vertical rows of white lace with delicate lavender flower
highlights that emphasized and narrowed the waist. A bright lavender
satin sash that formed a large pert bow at the back circled the waist.
The full skirt was bright lavender satin.
It was a surprisingly good fit and Mary briefly wondered how Auntie B
knew Carol's size but that thought evaporated as she heard Mz. Nelson
calling through the door asking if they needed any help. After telling
Mz. Nelson that everything was alright and that they would be out in
just a few more moments, she grabbed the shoes from the box.
Mary slipped his shoes on for him, helped him put on the gloves and
handed him his clutch purse. "Now sweetie, remember what I taught you
about walking. Heel and toe with the pressure being put on the toe
before you bring the heel to rest. Sway at the hips a bit, shoulders
back and you will find it easier to walk. It would help if you held
your purse in your right hand pressed softly against your skirt while
letting your left hand and arm swing slightly close to your side. Come
on try it for me and remember to smile. We have to convince your great
Aunt that you are a lady."
With tears in his eyes Carol began to walk around the carpeted room.
His ankles buckled slightly at almost every initial step but with his
mother's constant encouragement soon got the hang of it. He was by no
means adapt at walking in heels when Mary ushered him out of the door
after touching up his make up. He felt like a clumsy idiot but did his
best.
"Oh how delightful," Great Aunt Beatrice exclaimed upon seeing him.
"You look absolutely divine my dear. Please give us a twirl."
Carol almost fell as he tried to pivot in the heels but his Mother's
firm grip on his left arm kept him steady. "This is Carol's first time
to wear heels," Mary simply stated as way of explanation for his
clumsiness.
"That is perfectly understandable my dear. Come over here darling and
let me get a better look at you," Auntie B said as she stood and
reached out to take both of Carol's hands in hers. "Oh my, yes. That
dress is adorable on you. I do hope that you like it. You were born to
wear dresses like this with that willowy body of yours my dear."
"Oh yes Auntie B, I just love this dress. I have never worn anything
so...so pretty," he said softly as his aunt brought him into a tight
embrace.
"You are a lovely niece and I am pleased to meet you," Auntie B said as
she broke the embrace and turned to Mz. Nelson and continued, "Margaret
have the dinner plans been made? I would like to have dinner now in the
company of my new family. Please see to it."
Mz. Nelson nodded her head, "Yes Miss B everything is in readiness all
I have to do is tell the Butler. The dinning room is over there in that
room. Let me inform the Butler."
The dinning room was an "L" shaped affair affording everyone an over
view of the city. The table was set in fine china and there were more
place settings than any of the Conroy family had ever seen.
"Four forks, two knives, three spoons, three glasses...What the shit am
I going to use all them for," Edward was thinking as he sat in an
indicated chair.
Just before the food was served Mary whispered to her children to watch
what Auntie B did with her silverware and then follow her movements.
Edward was a little disappointed in the dinner even though it was a
seven course meal. The portions were small and some of them he did not
even recognize as food.
"Who ever heard of putting Pansies in a salad," he asked himself after
watching Mz. Nelson picking the flower petal out of her salad and
apparently enjoying its flavor. To him it tasted kinda perfumery but as
hungry as he was swallowed with gusto. Fortunately for him Carol just
picked at his meal and did not mind Edward helping himself to his
plate.
Mary did not miss Mz. Nelson's look of disapproval at her children's
table manners. "That is one formidable woman," she thought as she
turned her attention back to her own meal.
After the meal Auntie B offered a glass of Port to all of them stating
that the occasion called for a bit of celebration. The drinks poured
and the bottle of fine vintage left on the table, the Butler left them.
"Mary," Auntie B started the conversation. "I have had my legal team
thoroughly investigate and find my living relatives. You and your
children are all that they came up with. As far as William's parents
are concerned....well there never is an easy way to say it...are no
longer involved. As you can tell I am a very wealthy woman and you are
my only legacy. However I am not one to just give my wealth away just
because you are kin. It was my intention to find a close female
offspring to eventually take my place. As Carol is the closest relative
I have decided to elevate my niece"....here she paused to look directly
into Carol's eyes which he quickly lowered... "into proper society and
eventually as my heir. That is..." again she paused to look at Mary...
"provided Carol has the mental aptitude and capability to assume this
position. It is still too early in the process for me to make any final
decision. I would therefore greatly appreciate it if Carol could come
and live with me for the summer. That is unless Carol has made prior
arrangements. Have you dear?" Auntie B looked down the table at Carol
and waited for a response.
Mary seeing the panic in Carol's eyes and afraid that he was going to
expose everything jumped in. "Oh Auntie B... I....I need Carol to help
keep the apartment for me while I am at work. I have two jobs and I
just don't know what I will do without her help this summer."
Seeing Great Aunt Beatrice turn her gaze her way Mary stumbled on,
"Errr...Eddie has a summer job and ...er...I really do need the help
around the house." She finished lamely.
"Oh tish tosh," Auntie B replied then turned her gaze back to Carol.
"Well darling child do you have plans for the summer besides cleaning
the house?"
Under her intense gaze Carol had to admit that he had no plans for the
summer.
"Well then," Auntie B stated, "I won't demand an answer tonight as it
is getting a bit late. Mary, as far as needing Carol to keep house
while you are at work, we can get around that. I am prepared to offer
you....let's say whatever your biggest income job's salary plus 25
percent for the duration of the summer. That way you can quit that job
and be at home for Edward and keep the house. No don't answer me now.
Wait until tomorrow when I shall be calling on you. Let's say around
tenish or so. Good. Now that is settled let us enjoy our Port and then
you can be off. I can't tell you just how much I have enjoyed this
little get together. As the great Queen of England, Elizabeth, once
said ?we are amused'."
Ooo
The door to the apartment had barely closed when Carol let loose.
"Mother have you lost your ever loving friggin mind? Look at me! I'm
your son! Just look at me! Your son in case you haven't noticed is
wearing a friggin dress and looking like a total dork! Why didn't you
just tell Auntie the truth? I don't want her friggin money! I don't
want to be her darling NIECE! I don't want to be a girl! It was suppose
to be for just this weekend and now she wants me to go with her for the
entire damn summer! I will never be able to make it that long. I'm
surprised that ....that Mz. Nelson hasn't figured it out yet much less
Auntie! If it was this bad at her hotel room for just one night how
can I manage living under her roof twenty-four seven for the entire
summer? Answer me that? You can't can you. I know I certainly can't do
it. Oh what am I going to do........." Carol threw himself onto the
couch and began crying loudly.
Mary let her son cry as she shooed Edward to his room. She stood over
him for some time until his crying began to soften. Kneeling down on
the floor beside his head she caressed his hair. "Look my sweetie this
went much further than I had intended but I don't see any alternatives
at the moment. Before you say anything.... yes it is my fault and yes,
I did some very stupid things today but what's done is done. Tomorrow
morning I will call Auntie and explain everything to her and just hope
for the best. While Auntie B is a sweet lady...I am...well I am not so
sure about that Mz. Nelson.....She is very intimidating and very
protective of Auntie B. She mentioned in passing during dinner that
someone had tried to pull a similar stunt on her before. Well that
person ended up in jail for five long years for inheritance fraud. It
doesn't matter. I will take my chances with Mz. Nelson and all that if
you are so distraught over this. We don't have to make a decision
tonight Carol. Just remember that I did what I thought was best for our
family. It was Eddie's only hope of attending Harvard and our chances
of getting out of this squalor. It was a big chance for all of us to
get out of poverty and I am sorry that I didn't think more about what
it would do to you. I don't know what I was really thinking at the
time...maybe just that some little old lady would come for a quick
visit and then happy that she had met her niece would go happily back
home. Guess I was wrong there wasn't I buddy? I'm truly sorry my baby.
Come on now and let me help you get undressed."
In just his girdle and bra Mary handed him one of her long white cotton
sleep shirts with pink balloons imprinted on it to wear for the night.
"I know that you are uncomfortable wearing those under things but it's
probably better to be prepared than have Auntie catch you without any
foundation. Get some sleep and we will talk some more in the morning.
Good night baby," she said as he slipped under the sheets of the cot.
Carol tossed and turned all night and his dreams were at best
nightmares. Visions of his mother and brother wearing prison stripes
and peering out from behind prison bars haunted him while other visions
of him wearing swishy skirts and pretending to be a girly girl made him
shutter. One vision, out of them all, scared him awake in the early
morning hours. It was a vision seen at first far off in the distance
and then moving closer and closer zooming into a close up of his
mother's face creased in a thousand wrinkles and hallowed eyed with
great fatigue pounding on rocks with a sledge hammer making them into
very little rocks. His vision backed up and showed that behind her
stood what appeared to be the emaciated form of his brother. Edward
looked to be a hundred years old and seemed to carry the weight of the
world on his shoulders. His brother's mouth opened and an eerie hallow
sound came out saying, "Brother why.....you could do it...why did you
do this to us....I could have gone to Harvard."
When his mother woke him Carol was almost glad to see the light of day.
"Out of one nightmare and into another all too real one," he thought as
he went into the bathroom. As he walked over to the commode he noticed
that his mother had filled the tub with floral scented bubble bath.
Standing over the toilet he lifted the hem of the nightshirt when his
mother walked in without even knocking.
"Carol sit like a lady," she admonished him. "Darling if you are going
to be my daughter you have to remember to act like one at all times
even in the privacy of the bath."
"Mom!" he shouted embarrassed and mad at the same time by her
interruption. "I'm in the bathroom."
She ignored his protest and stood with her arms folded under her ample
breasts waiting for him to do her bidding. Seeing that she was not
going away Carol turned and sat to do his business.
"Have you decided what you are going to do?" she quietly asked him. "Do
I call Auntie B and tell her everything or do we wait for her arrival
and continue as we are?"
"Shit Mom do I really have any choice?" he replied. "After all poor
Edward has to go to Harvard now doesn't he? I can't send you to prison
so what choice do I have? Yes I'll pretend to be your daughter for the
summer but once I get back here you have to promise me that this will
be all over and done with. I don't like dressing like a girl much less
having to be one."
"It will only be for a few months and I am truly sorry for getting you
into this," Mary solemnly began. "I and Edward too realize what a great
sacrifice you are making for our family and will never forget it. Carol
you will be all by yourself when you go to stay with Auntie B and it is
extremely important that you remember to stay in character the whole
time all the time. Even in your most private moments you must always be
a young lady. Women are always congregating in the bathroom so you will
have to get use to seeing other ladies around you when you do your
intimate rituals. Another thing that women share are their menstrual
problems so I am going to give you a quick lecture on this uniquely
feminine ritual."
With that said she went over to the linen closet and removed a feminine
syringe, box of tampons, and one of panty liners. As he sat in the tub
she explained their uses and more than he ever wanted to know about
feminine hygiene. She carefully explained that once a month he would
have to use each of those items for at least five days. If he did not
then questions would be raised. Out of the tub the lessons continued on
how to do his morning toilet in a feminine way.
Totally embarrassed he went back into the bedroom with a towel draped
from under his arms and another wrapped turban style around his head.
She helped him get dressed in a fresh panty girdle, the bra and jeans
from yesterday and a new bright yellow sleeveless "V" neck tee shirt
that left his belly button exposed.
The towel was removed from his head and his hair brushed out into a
short page boy. A yellow plastic head band was placed over the parting
of his bangs to add a feminine look to the style over his protest. A
little eye makeup, pink lip gloss and a sprits of perfume and he was
ready to meet the day.
Around ten the limo pulled up in their parking lot. When Mary answered
the door Mz. Nelson entered saying, "How quaint." She was followed by
Aunt B and Robert.
"Lovely to see you again my dear," Aunt B stated as she gave Mary a
brief hug and air kiss, "and where is my darling grand niece and nephew
Edward?"
"Over here Auntie B," Carol replied as he entered the living room.
"Edward is over at a friend's house."
Auntie B gave him a close look then turning her attention back to Mary
said, "Mary, don't you think that a dress would be more suitable for
her? There is just too much Tom Boy in that girl to suit my taste. Oh
do you have any tea by chance? I would just love a cup of tea."
Carol stood blushing over that comment but said nothing. His eyes
however were pleading to his mother. He certainly did not want to put
that juvenile dress back on.
"Oh yes Aunt B how thoughtless of me." Mary replied. "I'll go and put
the pot on and while it is brewing I'll have Carol put on that lovely
dress you brought for her. I'm afraid that with my work and all I have
let Carol pretty much dress like she wants."
"Don't bother dear. Let her stay as she is for the moment. I have big
shopping plans for us today. I think it would be a lot easier for her
to try on different outfits dressed the way she is. Now come over here
Carol and give your old Auntie a big hug and kiss."
Carol walked over to his aunt and did as he was told. At first he
wasn't sure about the kiss but when she turned her cheek to his face
and air kissed him he knew what to do.
"Come over to the couch and let's talk about all the plans I have made
for us today while Mary gets the tea," Auntie B stated. "Mary would you
mind if Mz. Nelson checks out Carol's wardrobe to see what is suitable
for us to take with us?"
Mary's heart stopped at that request and for a horrible moment saw all
her plans go up in smoke. She gathered her thoughts and finally
replied, "Since you asked Aunt B I have to object at that intrusion
into Carol's privacy. She has nothing but jeans and shorts and that
lovely dress you gave her. I was going to take her shopping with me
when I go to work Monday and get her some more appropriate clothing for
her stay with you. Carol like most young teens is very private about
her clothing and intimate apparel. Such an intrusion would be most
embarrassing for her. I hope that you see my point."
"Yes of course dear. I forgot what it was like being a young teen
myself and you are so right. Please Carol and Mary accept my
apologies," Aunt B said.
Mary breathed a sigh of relief and could see the same relief on her
son's face. She went into the kitchen and put the tea on the burner. "I
could have sworn that I saw a gleam in that Mz. Nelson's eyes there for
a second. Oh well we got past that one. I just hope that nothing else
pops up like that this afternoon," Mary thought as the water came to a
boil.
She served the tea and the conversation stopped as they enjoyed the
brew. Mary couldn't help but notice that Carol was fidgeting where he
sat beside his Great Aunt Beatrice. She knew that he was more than
uncomfortable with the situation but there was nothing they could do
about it now. Like when you get on a roller coaster. Once it starts
there is no way to get off. You just had to endure the ride.
After tea they got into the limo for the drive into town. All the way
there Aunt B kept up a constant chatter about how much fun it was going
to be. She chatted on about how she couldn't have children of her own
and how much she missed out in life by not getting to provide for a
daughter like Mary had been fortunate to do. With her constant chatter
both Mary and Carol were content to just listen. At least they did not
have to talk and responded with the appropriate ooohs and aaahhs where
necessary.
The limo pulled up in front of the swankest clothing store in the city
where a valet opened the doors for them. Inside the richly appointed
store Auntie B soon had the complete and undivided attention of the
sales clerks and manager. In no time Carol was inside a large dressing
room with three full length mirrors and two velvet covered stools
stripped to his panty girdle. The dressing room was large enough for
both his mother and Auntie B. Carol was blushing bright pink as the
sales assistant held a cloth measuring tape around his chest. As soon
as she had his chest measurements Carol pulled his hands up to cover
his none existent breasts. He was blushing even redder when the
assistant said that he would need an AAA training bra. She was
efficient and soon had all his measurements written down on a small
note pad. With that done all three women left him alone in the dressing
room to seek out his first outfit of the day.
As they exited the room Carol heard the assistant say, "How old is she?
She seems quite big to have not begun puberty." The last thing he heard
before they retreated out of hearing was, "Oh dear that old?"
"Oh shit! Crap! Crap! There is no way I am going to fool these people
into thinking that I am a girl. Why did I let myself get into this
mess? Crap! And double Crap there isn't anything I can about it now. Oh
please let's get this over with," Carol thought as the women walked
away.
As the women followed in the wake of the sale clerk Mary asked Auntie B
how she had known the right dress size to get for Carol. "Oh Margaret
picked out the clothing. She has surprisingly good fashion sense," she
replied.
Mary looked at Mz. Nelson with a questioning look on her face. Mz.
Nelson just said that it was a lucky guess on her part based on her
letter. Before she could question her any further they arrived at a
clothing rack.
After what seemed like ages Carol heard the women coming back. As the
door swung open he had to step back as the doorway filled with fabrics
of all colors. The ladies managed to work their way into the changing
room and carefully placed the bundles of clothing down.
"Miss Carol step over her," the sales associated said indicating a spot
near the right side of the room. He did as told and stood there while
she picked up a shining white satin bra with delicate eyelet lace
trimming the small cups. She pulled it up his arms and quickly fastened
it behind his back. After adjusting the straps she ran her finger under
the bandeaux then stepped back.
"How does that feel Carol? Not too tight?" she asked him. Then to his
further embarrassment she slid her finger inside the right cup and
continued, "There is just a bit of padding and the cups are designed to
push up and support your breasts dear. It is a 32 AAA. The 32 is the
bandeaux length around your chest and the AAA designates the cup size
of your budding breast. I'm sure that once nature takes its course you
will fill out a much larger cup size. You just have to be patient
dear."
Next began an ordeal that would last hours and seem like an eternity to
Carol. First there were full slips to try on, half-slips, petticoats,
blouses, skirts, dresses and shoes to match followed. Those, he later
discovered, where for just every day wear. Then he had to try on high
heels, low heels, flats, sandals, court shoes, bedroom mules, and
sporting shoes. Finally he was told to try on several negligees and
other sleepwear.
Six dresses, six skirts and twelve blouses were chosen along with all
the matching panties and bras including four full petticoats. A dozen
panty girdles and several garter belts were also included. The panty
girdles were Mary's idea.
It was decided that he would wear the charcoal grey full skirt with two
petticoats in white starched netting and a frilly white polyester
blouse with full billowing sleeves and lace frilled jabot and the block
heeled sandals out of the store. The rest of the purchases were to be
delivered to Auntie B's hotel room later that afternoon after the
appropriate alterations were made.
He thought that they were finished for the day but was surprised when
they led him over to the accessories aisle. A wide black patent leather
belt was fastened tightly around his waist and a matching purse
selected for him. While they were there Auntie B purchased several more
purses, belts, and scarves along with a large quantity of hose in
various colors. She did not believe that ladies of her social standing
should wear pantyhose.
The next stop was at the city's most famous restaurant for a light
lunch. Carol was very self conscious as they were escorted to their
table. He was all too aware of the rustling of his petticoats and the
slight itching caused by the starched netting on his legs. He was glad
that they had given him a pretty white half-slip to wear otherwise the
itching of the petticoats would have been intolerable.
Just sitting down in the chair that the waiter held for him was an
ordeal but he managed to perform the act reasonably well. His mother
ordered him a chicken chief's salad and diet coke. The ladies had a
similar fair but theirs included a glass of white wine. Carol barely
picked at his meal and all he wanted to do was go home and get out of
these ridiculous clothes.
At the end of the meal they all went into the lady's to freshen up.
Carol was at first intimidated by this but a whispered encouragement
from his mother calmed him down somewhat. He did his business inside a
closed stall and found it very difficult to manage his clothing while
attempting to pee. By the time he left the stall he had a new
appreciation of how much a woman went through just to use the bathroom.
He
