At the massive headquarters, Jaye, who was Changed back to Jason beforehand, saw gadgets the likes of which he'd never seen in his life, not even in his favorite internet stories. After getting his first glimpse of Cerina and Evelyn's technological innovations, like the Teleportation Chamber, the Dimensional Monitor, and the full-sized iBod Chamber, Jason decided to Change back to the exotic redhead he had been earlier that day, and change her name to Monica Jaye. We left our intrepid group as they continued the tour of Cerina's island, and that's where we pick up. ================================================ With Shawn at the wheel, and Cerina, Monica, and Dominique in the back- most seat of the solar-powered Hummer, our group, which also included Shawn's wife Samantha, Cerina's business partner/college roommate Evelyn, and the tour guide Miko, starts touring Cerina's private island. As Shawn drives around, Miko describes the various locales around them, including a group of sexy blondes in thong bikinis of varying patterns playing beach volleyball. They notice our group, pause their game temporarily, and call out cheerfully as the Hummer stops and our group exits. "HIIIIII Miss Sweete!" "Hi, girls! Who's winning?" "Lexi and Carly, of course. This gave Monica her confidence back as she was finally able to reply coherently. "Thank you, Shawn. (turning to Cerina and Dominique) To be quite honest, I was glad that Dominique stepped in to help me out..." "See?" "HOWEVER...Cerina's right. "Well, when Cerina brought me here to Aether Island to get scanned after my first Change, I met Heather, who was watching a live story at the time. We fell in love, and Cerina arranged for our marriage last year in Vancouver, with a honeymoon on the other side of Aether." "You honeymooned on the other side of the island?" "Oh, yes! In fact, it's RESERVED for that very purpose, so that all the married iBod folks can have their privacy. I even heard that there were no less than 10 couples having their honeymoon at the same time on the other side in 2015, but that was 2 years before I even MET Heather, so we didn't get to be a part of that...oh, well. But Sam does a REALLY good job running the Other Side Resort, so we couldn't complain!" Samantha feigned embarrassment. "Oh, you're too much!" Monica was officially impressed. "You MUST be the Sam Of All Trades, then! (to Alicia) So how 'bout you? I'm gonna assume you didn't start off as Heather's sister?" "And you'd be quite right. Before I became Alicia Hunter, I was Alexander Horn, and I lost my younger sister, whose name was Alicia, to a car accident 10 years ago." "I'm...I'm sorry, I didn't know..." "That's...okay now. Heather showed Monica 2 kitchens, many bathrooms, and a plethora of bedrooms, some of them empty. She led Monica past a closed door on the upstairs floor, prompting curiosity from Monica. "What room is that?" "Oh, that's my room. We don't need to see it..." "Why? What's wrong with it?" "Um..." Cerina grew impatient. "Oh, grow up, Heather. We're all adults here. She's gonna come in there eventually anyway..." Heather sighed and opened the door. Inside her room, to the far left, was a bed and a TV. But the REST of the room was a BDSM fetishist's DREAM! Cerina put her arm around Monica lovingly. "I know you'll like it in HERE a lot. Would you like to see YOUR room now?" Monica nodded excitedly and Heather led her into the room on the right, which was just as big as Dominique's, but decidely more spartan in its appearance, with just a bed, a couple of dressers, and a large screen TV. But one important feature of the room made Monica gasp deeply with delight. On her empty bed was a gaudy-looking piece of what appeared to be cheap costume jewelry with a long chain necklace attached to the top. Monica slowly approached it and gingerly picked it up. It had weight, and an angel holding a wand was visible on the front, surrounded by arcane-looking writing that was etched into the outer trim of the metal. Monica was barely able to mouth her words, as she couldn't even contain her excitement. She held the gaudy necklace in her hand. "Is...is...is-is-is...this...?" Cerina touched the necklace, and Monica felt a slight jolt. She turned to Cerina in a panic and Cerina simply chuckled. "Don't worry, Monica. It's just a replica. The jolt you felt was just static electricity. The Medallion of Zulo doesn't actually exist in our world, although I'm sure there are alternate realities where it really does exist. I thought I'd have it cast as a gift for you. It wasn't easy, though, since even the Altered Fates stories viewed on the Dimensional Monitor are rather vague as to exact visuals of it. Miko had to take some creative liberties when she was drawing it up for casting." "It certainly WAS a bitch to design! I spent a whole WEEK just getting the basic look down! But just LOOK at it...isn't it magnificent?" Monica was extremely quiet. "It...certainly is...!" She slowly sat down on the bed, and tears began to well in her eyes. She held her head down to the replica Medallion and started to cry. "I...know it's not the real thing...but *SNIFF* just to have one...that I can HOLD..." And she lost all coherency after that as she broke down into full crying. Cerina sat down and held her gently as Dominique gently took the replica Medallion from Monica's hands and hung it on the door to her closet, where it would hang forevermore. Dominique gently waved everybody else out of the room and asked Heather to call the chef to get dinner ready, then sat down on the other side of Monica and hugged her as well. Heather soon returned 10 minutes later and gently knocked on the door. "Um...is Miss Jaye okay now...?" "I'll...*SNIFF*...I'll be okay...It's just that I...I've never actually held it before, real or not..." "...I know what you mean. Monica hugged her, and she hugged Monica back. Cerina and Dominique smiled, knowing everything would be alright, and they hugged Monica and Heather as well. 15 Minutes later, a phone on a nearby dresser rang and Heather tentatively stood up and answered it. After hanging up, she cheerily turned to Cerina, Monica, and Dominique. "Dinner's ready, all! We're expected downstairs." They went to a bathroom shared by the three rooms and got themselves cleaned up, then went downstairs. They went into the dining room, which was enormous (of course) and sat themselves at the large table where everyone else was already sitting. Cerina sat at the head of the table, with Dominique at her left hand. The seat at her right was empty, and everyone looked at Monica expectantly. She looked back uneasily, but Samantha and Heather encouraged her. Monica then sat down at Cerina's right hand, a confused look on her face the whole time. She looked across the table to Evelyn, who was seated directly facing Cerina. Monica looked a little worried, but Evelyn just smiled at her. "Don't worry, Jaye. You'll get used to it. Aether Island seems to have developed quite the hierarchy in the 6 years it's been around." "I'll bet!" "I'll tell you about it before we go up to Cerina's room tonight." Heather and another woman, the chef, entered from the kitchen wheeling carts with trays on them. They then placed the covered trays at each place, including two empty ones, which were for themselves. After finishing, they sat down and Cerina began to say Grace. They all lowered their heads, and when Cerina was finished, they took the covers off their trays and began eating. Monica began salivating at the spread that was laid out on her plate, a pasta-and-chicken dish with cheesy sauce. "Mmm! This all looks so good, it seems almost a shame to eat it!" She noticed the chef a few places down, and waved Hello to her. The chef waved back. "My name's Arianna! You must be Monica! It's so nice to meet you!" "Likewise! So, how did you meet Cerina?" "Oh! Well, I happened to be the head chef of a restaurant she frequented. We became fast friends--it probably didn't hurt that she loved my food--and she gave me a paper copy of her Questionnaire. She asked me to fill it out honestly, which I did, and I got an iBod. I don't really use it much now, except maybe for clothing, and she offered to hire me as her live-in chef. Cerina once again reassured her. "It's just something to help with the pain, and it'll help you sleep, my love. We'll take care of everything. Just relax..." Monica's tearful eyes began to slowly shut as a smile half-formed across her lips. She was able to barely whisper "I love you" to Cerina before she fell completely unconscious. Veronica put on rubber gloves and began checking her where she was injured and treated the area with a special salve that was created by Cerina's pharmaceutical division. The salve would restore the area in less than a day, and was quite useful in treating many various topical wounds.
