He surmised that she must have gone to the lounge while he was out on a pick-up run and now was heading back to her room, as usual, alone. Nick knew that this was the chance he was looking for.
He stashed his cart in a hallway off the lobby and ran up the flight of stairs so he could get on the elevator on the first floor. As he waited his heart was beating so hard in his chest he feared a heart attack was imminent. A second later the bell chimed indicating that the elevator car had arrived.
The doors slid silently and there she was standing there. She offered a polite smile and moved to one side to allow him to enter. At the sight of her and the scent of her perfume, Nick became tongue-tied. The greeting he had rehearsed became lost and he was barely able to introduce himself.
"Hello, Nick. I'm Candice. Didn't I just see you in the lobby?" she asked with a dazzling smile.

"Can one ask why?"
"I've seen you in the bar a half a dozen times and I have been dying to talk to you," Nick admitted.
"Yes, I've seen you staring at me and I kept waiting for you to walk over and introduce yourself," Candice said.
"Technically I'm not supposed to hang out there," he responded.
"But you risked it anyway to get a look at me," the stunning female stated.
"Yeah," Nick answered and blushed as they walked down the hall and soon they were standing at the door to her room.
"Early night?" he asked.
"Yes. Too many drunk Christmas partiers wanting me to favour them with a gift," she replied. "Can I ask you inside and offer you a drink?"
"No, I'm still on the clock," Nick responded as he struggled not to stare at her chest.
"When do you get off duty?" she asked stepping in a little closer.
"In about an hour, maybe less," he replied.
"Well, I'll be up for quite a while so you could stop back if you're interested in that drink," Candice suggested.
"I am very interested," Nick replied.
Before he could say any more his cellphone buzzed and he answered it. It was the desk telling him that he had no more runs and could punch out.
"That's it. All I have to do is park the van and fill out some paperwork and then I'm off duty," he told Candice.
"Well then hurry back," she answered planting a warm kiss on his cheek before she stepped inside her room.
Nick flew to the lobby and out the main entrance doors to the parked van. Amid squealing tires, he headed for the underground parking garage. Back in the lobby he went to the room behind the front desk and placed the keys in the key box and spent a few minutes filling out the required paperwork.
He bade the desk clerk good night and headed out the door in the direction of the employees parking lot. The minute he was out of sight he doubled back and headed to the kitchen delivery dock and the main door that was always open. He would now be able to slip past the front desk unseen.
Nick ignored the elevator and headed to the stairs. Seconds later he was gently tapping at Candice's door and once again his heart was pounding so hard that he thought she might hear it. He heard the sound of the well-oiled deadbolt being opened and seconds later the door opened with Candice standing behind it so only her head and hands were visible. She offered him a wide smile and invited him inside. Once he crossed the threshold he heard the door close behind him and he turned around to face Candice.
Nick's eyes opened wide and he was sure his mouth hung open at the sight before him. Candice had shed her regular clothing and had donned a floor-length nightgown of black satin with black lace sleeves. She once again gave him a kiss on the cheek and then took his hand in hers and led him to the small counter complete with bar stool where she bade him have a seat.
"What will you have?" she asked indicating a number of bottles in the mini-bar.
