CHAPTER 18
Even though this was defiantly not my first outing as a girl, this was
defiantly going to be a new experience. This new "boobs" in my bra are a
sure sign of that.
My mom and I are like two peas in a pod. Even before this whole 'being my
mom' thing happen, we were always close. I don't think I could argue with
anyone if they called me a momma's boy. Today I probably could.
We always were about to talk and share things with each other. We got
each other's jokes. We knew what each other liked. If she wasn't older
than me and, well... my mom, she would be a good friend. My mom is my
friend. But I think after today, there will be a new bond between the two
of us.
I looked over at my mom as we continued to drive to the mall. She looked
at me and just had the biggest smile upon her face. Yep, today was going
to be a new day of bonding.
We arrived at the mall, parked our car and made our way into the mall.
"Where to first, mother?" I asked.
"I think we should start over there." My mom pointed towards Forever 21.
Ah, Forever 21. This place isn't new to me. We walked in and mom was at
it. Started picking up dresses and skirts. Jeans and leggings. T shirts
and blouses. My mom was on a roll.
"Charlie, do you like this one?" She asked holding up a short sleeveless
A-line dress that was all black and featured an allover rose print on the
whole thing.
"It's really cute. I like the roses," I said. I wanted to sound into the
mother/daughter day. I wanted to sound like her daughter. I could say
girly things. I can act like I'm into this stuff. But at the same time, I
wasn't lying. I really did think it was a cute dress. The roses made it
look sweet and girly.
"Charlie, let's go try all this stuff on," my mom said as I followed her
to the dressing room. "Here, take this stack in first," She said handing
me about 10 hangers worth of clothes.
The first dress I tried on of course was the rose dress. And it fit like
a glove. I really did love it. And I think my mom could tell when I came
out to show her since I had a huge smile on my face.
"Charlie, that looks so great on you. I love it. We defiantly need to get
that one for you," my mom said looking like she was about to cry. I think
she really loved all this.
I finished trying on the second dress and made my way out to show my mom.
"Ok, you just look darling in every dress you try on. We will just have
to get that one too," Mom said. That one would look great with some dark
tights. We will have to get some of them too," she added.
This one was a dark brown dress. It was short too and was featuring a
dark botanical print with beaded and sequined trim. It had a V-neckline
and long bell sleeves. I had to admit it...I liked it too.
As I went back into the dressing room, I thought about what my mom just
said. Getting me these dresses? I never thought about that. I'm trying
all this on, but why. She couldn't really be buying me any clothes. I
thought we were just going to look around and try stuff on then go to
dinner. Maybe she is just saying that she is going to y me them in the
same way I was telling her I liked them. Just to play along for the day.
It went on like that for about 20 minutes. I tried on some more dresses
and a few tops. My mom was holding all the clothes we liked. "She can't
be?" I thought to myself.
I followed my mom and she walked straight to the front counter. Holy
crap, she is buying me these clothes.
"Um... mom," I said as she was looking through her purse for her wallet.
"Um, mom, are you really buying these clothes?"
"Of course, I think my daughter deserves some new clothes to wear," She
said.
Ok, she is just playing along then tomorrow she will just return them. I
bet that is. She finished playing and now we both had a bag in each hand.
"I think we need to go in there next," my mom said looking toward
Victoria's Secret. I don't know what Victoria's secret is but Vanessa's
secret is that she is looking for bras for her daughter who is really her
son. My mom was on a tear. She was just picking up everything. She had
like 10 pairs of panties in every color in her hands and then she started
picking up bras. Never really saying anything besides "This are cute",
"Charlie these are perfect for you," In less than 10 minutes my mom was
at the counter buying all this undergarments.
"Um... mom," I said but it fell on deaf ears.
"Ok Charlie. I think we should go get your hair taken care of," my mom,
said totally ignoring the fact that she just bought her son about a week
supply of bras and panties.
We made our way down about 10 stores to Darling Salon. "This is where I
go all the time to get my hair done," my mom said as we walked in.
"Mrs. Scott, it's so nice to see you again. What can we do for you
today?" the woman behind the counter said.
"Hi Kim. My hair is still fine, but I would like for you to do something
for my daughter's hair. We are going out to a nice dinner tonight and I
want her to feel beautiful," Vanessa said.
"Well that shouldn't be hard to do, you daughter is a stunner. She looks
a lot like you Mrs. Scott," Kim said. "We can take her right now; Megan
is just finishing up with Mrs. Rogers," she added.
"Charlie, you let them work their magic. I will be right back. I'm going
to put this stuff in the car. And give me that hat; you're not going to
need that no more," Vanessa said.
"Ok, mother," was all I could say.
I waited about 5 minutes for Megan to finish up and sweep around her
area.
"Ok, Charlie? I can take you now," Megan said. "Sorry I was questioning
your name. When I was told I was working with a Charlie next I didn't
expect a girl," she added.
"No worries. I get that a lot," I said.
"So what are we going to do for you today?" Megan asked.
"Um, I don't really know. My mom said she is taking me out to dinner
tonight and she wants my hair to look nice. So I guess that means do
whatever you think you should do," I said having zero clue.
Megan took me to a washing station and started to wash my hair. Once done
she had me in her chair and had a pink smock wrapped around me. And then
she just started cutting. I wasn't sure at all what she was doing. My mom
came back about 15 minutes later. I could see her in the mirror enter the
store but stop and talk to Kim. I just sat there and let Megan work he
magic. I hope this wasn't a bad idea.
About 20 minutes later she was don't. She was finishing up combing and
blow drying my hair when mom walked up. I had my back to the mirror so I
couldn't see what was really done or the end result. My mom's expression
wasn't a tell neither. She looked happy. I hope that's happy. Megan spun
me around.
Holy shit! This was new for me. My hair was still blonde. It was still
just about my shoulders. But now it has only a little wavy at the ends
and I now had sideswept bangs. It was very feminine.
"I love it! Charlie that looks perfect!" my mom said. So I guess mom
liked it.
She paid for my hair and then we were onto the next store. I walked with
mom but with each store we passed I kept catching glimpses of myself in
the window.
"Ok, Ladybug. Time for some girl time. We are going to get our nails
done," my mom said as she took my hand as we walked into D-Vine Nail
Salon.
My mom told them we both wanted to get our nails done. My mom was going
to get her toes and finger done with acrylic nails, and I was going to
get my toes done and my fingers just cleaned up and painted. For a boy my
finger nails were always pretty clean and also long. I never liked
cutting them short. But they were never long like girls.
They told us to pick what color we wanted and then sit down in the
chairs. My mom picked a burgundy color. My mom told me to go crazy so I
on my feminine high I picks a hot pink color. We both sat in our chairs
and put our feet up. The chairs were amazing. They were like massage
chairs. And my back loved it.
This is all normal for a couple of girls. For a mother and her son... not
so much. But with that said, it was about to get weirder.
My mom was and me were sitting in the chairs next to each out. And I
guess what happens is that girls gossip or talk what they get their nails
done. My mom decided she would start.
"So Charlie, how is school going?"
"Good. I can't really complain. Nothing new or exciting. Just the same
school day every day," I answered.
"That's good. How about boys? Any catching your eye?" my mom asked.
"Moooooom! Jeez?" I said giving her a look.
"What? A mother can't ask her daughter about her dating life?" my mom
said.
I don't know what to do. This is weird. I agreed to this, but I thought
this was going to be just me and her shopping and doing things mothers
and daughter do. I didn't think I was going to have to put on my acting
pants and pretend to really be a girl. Do I tell her I can't answer that
and shoot her a look? Or do I just go with this and make up something. I
want to make her happy. If I just pretend for the day, she isn't going to
think weird of me tomorrow when her daughter is gone.
Decisions, decisions, decisions.
"Well..... There is this one boy," I said.
"Do tell, do tell," my mom said.
"There is a boy in my homeroom and he is in a few of my other classes. He
took me out on one date that didn't go to well. He is a really good
friend and I don't want to lose that friendship, but at the same time, he
treated me nice and I felt protected with him. And kissing... he is a good
kisser," I said not paying attention to anything other than the woman as
she started to paint my toes. "He wants me to be his girlfriend, but I
don't know if it's a good idea," I added as I realized I just told my mom
the truth about my date with Michael.
My mom looked a little shocked but I don't know what that look could be
towards. The story? That I was able to come up with that? That maybe it
was a true story? Does she think I could be telling her the truth? I
don't know.
"Well Charlie. I think one of the things you look for in a mate is that
they can be your best friend. And if they are already your best friend,
the getting to know you part isn't that hard and you can just be with the
person. And if they are your friend then it could be perfect," my mom
said.
I just stared back at my mom. She said some of the same stuff Michael
said.
"What's the boy's name?" my mom asked.
"Mik.... Michael," I said.
"Michael. That's a nice name. That is my Brother's middle name," mom
said.
"Yeah, well, Even if he is my best friend. He is still a hormone crazed
teenage boy," I said with a laugh.
My mom chuckled too. "Well if you want other options, you have your pick.
Have you seen all the boys checking you out after we left the hair
salon?" Mom asked. "You're driving these boys crazy."
"Whatever. Very funny mom," I laughed, thinking about if that was true or
not.
They finished up our toes as we slipped on some cheaply made sandals and
walked our way over to some chairs at tables with lights. The woman took
my hands and started buffing and clipping and whatever else she needed to
do to get my nails in a good shape.
"So mom, what are we going to do after this?" I asked.
"Well I was thinking, since we need some time to let our names dry, we
can go get your makeup done next, then we can go grab some lunch. After
that do a little more shopping, then go home and get ready for dinner,"
my mom said with a smile.
"Sounds good," I said, but still not knowing what all was involved in all
that.
I didn't know what else to say to mom. She went to Phillies games but she
wasn't a diehard fan. She doesn't play video games or read comics. That's
about the most I can bring to a conversation right now.
There was some dead silence till my mom decided to ask "Have you thought
about trying out for cheerleader this year? I bet it would be fun."
"Me? A cheerleader? I don't think I could do it," I said not really
knowing what to say.
"Oh come on. High school cheering isn't hard. It's pretty basic unless
you are on a team that does all this competitions. I don't think your
school does that," my mom said.
"Yeah, but I don't really care to watch football games anyway. Even if
Michael is one of their star players," I said.
"Oh, see now there is a good reason to join the team. You get to spend
more time with him. Since you are both at all the games. Plus what player
doesn't want a hot cheerleader on his arm," Mom said.
"Mooooom! Will you drop the Michael stuff, please," I asked nicely.
"Yes, I'm sorry Ladybug. I just all excited, you know?" Mom said.
"Oh, I know mom, I know," I said as I watched the girl finish painting my
last nail.
Once she was all done and I could hold my hands up, I was amazed at how
different my hands looked. My hands were the same old hands they always
were, but having the nails painted hot pink, just make my hands look so
girly. It made my fingers look longer. I was amazed by them. I was happy
at how great they looked. I really loved them. Same goes for my toes too.
My mom was noticing me looking over my fingers. "They look great Ladybug.
I love the color you picked," she said.
Once again my mom paid and we left the store. She has spent a lot of
money today on me. I was feeling so amazing too. I could tell I felt more
confident. I didn't feel like I was hiding anything.
We walked down to the MAC store. My mom said "If you want to get your
makeup done right, let's start with one of the best."
As we entered the store a sales woman come over to us. "Can I help you
ladies find what you are looking for?"
"Ah, yes. My daughter is looking for help to find the right makeup for
her. Something for an 18 year old with her skin type and color," my mom
said.
"Ok. We can give you a little make over and show you what colors work
best for you. Have a seat," the woman said. "My name is Grace, what's
yours?"
"Hi Grace, I'm Charlie and this is my mom, Vanessa," I said.
"Your mom? I thought you two were sisters. You look so much alike," Grace
said.
With that Grace go started on my face. She showed me what foundation to
use, what eye shadow worked be for me, she showed me how to outline my
eye and make my eyelashes pop with the mascara. She used a little blush
on my checks and she said not many girls want their lips to be powerful,
but I could really pull off a really nice red lipstick. With that I was
done. I looked nothing like I have before. Before I was a guy trying to
pass as a girl. With my hair and makeup, there was no one that would
think I was anything other than a 100% woman.
As I was just blown away looking into the mirror my mom told Grace to

"Mom, you can't buy all that. This stuff is expensive. And you
know....after tomorrow I won't..." I was saying when my mom chimed in.
"Shhhh. Quiet Ladybug. Grace I'll take it all," my mom said.
After she pays we leave the store and I start walking with mom to get
some lunch.
I'm at the mall with my mom, but I feel like I'm back on that
rollercoaster of emotions. I was trying to just act like I was my mom's
daughter to make her happy. Yet it has become me really being her
daughter. She has bought me almost everything a girl could need or want.
All stuff I would love to use but I know that tomorrow her son will be
back. And that is just the coaster starting to move. It starts going up
the hill as I think about how I have told mom how I went out with Michael
and how I thought he was an amazing kisser. And that she thinks I should
try out for cheerleader. The Roller coaster it pretty much at the top as
we get to the restaurant and I see Michael in Sports House, the sporting
goods store next door. Please don't see me.....please don't see me.....!!
