The Replacement
Belladonna

Carrie's hands started to tremble as she heard her younger brother
entering her apartment. The tea in the cup in her hands thrashed about
while she placed it upon her tabletop.
Clearing her throat, Carrie called out, "Lee, can you come in here for a
moment?"
"What's up?" Lee inquired while he stared down at his sister. His
inquisitiveness turned to concern once he noticed the nervous look on
her face.
"What's wrong?" Lee asked, fearing that she was waiting to give him bad
news.
"Lee, I'm going to England next week, and I need to talk to you about
it."
"When did you plan this?" Lee asked, feeling relieved by his sister's
words as he put down his coat.
"It just came up. William just said let's go."
"And your office is giving you the time off?" Lee asked, surprised that
they would do so on such short notice.
"You see that's the thing..."
"What thing?" Lee inquired while he crossed his arms.
Carrie gave Lee a nervous smile before she said, "My office knows, but
nobody's told the main hub about it."
"Oh...is someone covering for you?"
"Hopefully," Carrie said, her gaze not able to meet her brothers.
"Who do you have in mind?"
"You," Carrie replied.
Lee gave his sister a curious look. He shrugged as he asked, "You want
me to do it?"
"You know you can do it."
"I'm sure I could, but..."
"But what? It's beneath you. It's not been beneath you to crash at my
apartment for the last 18 months..."
"I'm trying to get a job, but the market sucks!"
"You got to take what you can get."
"I'm trying to get to square one, but..."
"Look, if I lose my job, you're out. I'm not going to be able to
support you, and you owe me for this."
Lee huffed as he stared down at his shoes and said, "Okay. I'll do it.
It's no big deal."
"It's nothing they didn't train for you," Carrie said as her brother
started to walk away.
"You're a paralegal; I'm a law school graduate. How hard could it be?"
Lee inquired with a shrug.
"You'll do fine. I'm sure."
"But how am I going to do this?"
"Everyone in my office knows that you're going to be filing in for me."
"All right. So, they're okay with it?"
"My office is nothing but girls, they'll like having you around," Carrie
replied with a smile.
"Having a big strong man around has its benefits," Lee joked while he
started towards the kitchen.
The smile left Carrie's face as she said, "Well, about that..."
Lee's heard jerked towards his sister to ask, "What about it?"
"The girls are comfortable with you coming in, but the main office
doesn't know about it, and they can't..."
"So, what do you want me to do about it?" Lee inquired, confused by his
sister's words.
"I know that this might sound like a lot, but just hear me out. What I
really need you to do is just impersonate me."
Lee stared blankly at his sister before he shouted, "HOW THE HELL WOULD
I DO THAT?"
"You just play the part. It's easy," Carrie said with a dismissive
tone.
"OF YOU?" Lee shrieked in a high tone that embarrassed himself.
"It's just for a little over two weeks," Carrie replied in a calm tone.
"WHAT?" Lee bellowed, trying to force his voice into a deeper register
while he did so.
"It's basically two weeks," Carrie repeated.
"LIKE THAT MAKES IT ANY BETTER?"
"Lee, I'm not asking you. I'm telling you that this is what you're
doing," Carrie replied in a stern tone as she got to her feet.
"HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND?"
"No. This is what has to be done..."
"MUST...WHY DON'T YOU JUST PUT OFF THE TRIP LIKE A NORMAL PERSON!"
"Because William's being called back by his family."
"Let him go alone. Just because your boyfriend is going to see his
family means that you have to," Lee countered, regaining his composure
while he struggled to sound rational in the face of his sister's
irrational request.
"He needs me there by his side."
"Let him be with his family."
"He's told me that he needs me there."
"Oh, well that makes it okay then. You just want me to put on a dress
so you can get swept around Europe by your boyfriend like you're in a
trashy romance novel!"
"That's not it at all."
"It's not. So, you wouldn't drop everything to spend time with your
rich boy toy?"
"He's not my boy toy. He's so much more..."
"He doesn't think much of me."
"He doesn't think you try," Carrie countered.
"I tried my best to pass the bar. The third time is going to be a
charm."
"Is it?" Carrie inquired.
His sister's questioning of his abilities grated at Lee before he
replied, "This time I'm going to do it."
"So, you're not going to go out instead of studying..."
"That's not what I did."
"It's exactly what you did," Carrie retorted, shaking her head at her
brother's delusions.
Lee shook his head and said, "How can you think that I could ever agree
to this?"
"Because you owe me."
"What?"
"I didn't want to say it, but, I'll say it again, YOU...OWE...ME!"
"For what?"
"ARE YOU KIDDING ME? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?"
Lee crossed his arms as his sister glared at him before she screeched,
"WHO'S PUT A ROOF OVER YOUR HEAD FOR THE LAST 18 MONTHS! FOOD,
UTILITIES, EVERYTHING YOU HAVE BUT THE CLOTHES ON YOUR BACK AND THE
LITTLE BIT OF MONEY YOU HAVEN'T BLOWN YET, YOU OWE TO ME!"
Lee hung his head. He was ashamed of himself. It was impossible for
him not to feel that he was sponging off his sister since he finished
law school. His school debts had consumed most of the inheritance and
settlement he received after the death of their parents.
The feeling of shame was not unknown to Lee. He felt it from time to
time as he thought about what he had been doing since he graduated law
school. The two failed attempts to pass the bar had prompted only minor
hinted at criticisms from his sister before.
Lee knew that his sister had taken umbrage over his early condescension
for her settling on the job she had taken years earlier with the large
law firm. He could sense that she enjoyed the fact that the job was
likely paying more than he would make if he passed the bar and found
employment after his earlier comments to her.
Carrie stayed silent, letting Lee's guilt, shame and humiliation about
his position and prospects intermingle inside of him. Lee shook his
head as he said, "Can't I just work as myself?"
"I wish you could, but someone from another office might stop by and
they're going to expect to see a girl sitting at my desk."
"Why?"
"You know that there are only girls in my office. We're one of the
smallest offices in the firm."
"Won't they know that I'm not you?"
"I haven't meet with the IT and HR department in over a year. The
firm's revamped both departments recently. If the HR reps for the
region come in, the crappy picture of me in their file looks close
enough like you that they're not going to raise many questions. If no
one working in the office says anything about you being there, why would
they?"
"It won't work."
"It will work! All the girls in my office know that this is going to
happen. They're all on board, and they're going to cover for us. This
is just for our corporate overlords that need to be fooled, and they
don't come around too often."
"Listen, Carrie, if you were just asking me to fill in, I'd do it, but
you're asking me to debase myself..."
"Oh, see being a woman is debasing?" Carrie asked as she placed her
hands on her hips.
"For a man, yes," Lee countered in a stern tone.
"You didn't find it debasing when this woman was putting food on the
table. You know what, Lee. I've had it with you!"
"What?" Lee asked.
"If you can't be bothered to do this little thing..."
"LITTLE THING?" Lee interjected.
"IF YOU CAN'T BE BOTHERED," Carrie continued, speaking over her brother,
"YOU CAN JUST GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE."
"Carrie..."
"I DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT!"
"Carrie...," Lee tried to appeal to her again.
"Just get your stuff and get out," Carrie replied in a firm, but calmer
tone as she started to cry.
Lee hung his head while he started towards the hall closet that he kept
his meager belongings in since his sister did not have a spare bedroom
to offer him. Lee drew the door open and thought about his impending
homelessness. He cringed at the thought of spending a night on the
street or a homeless shelter. In his heart of hearts, Lee knew that he
did not have the guile or toughness to make it in such an environment.
The sight of one of Carrie's jackets made him stop. Lee paused as he
took the lilac, boucle double-breasted coat in his hands and turned to
his sister.
Carrie's glare faded while she watched her dejected brother place his
arms through the sleeves of her jacket. Lee was unable to meet her gaze
as he said in a soft and weak tone, "Carrie, if you'll still let me,
I'll do it for you."
Carrie crossed her arms while she stared at her brother in silence. She
knew he was frightened about what lay ahead of him if she cast him off.
She let those fears continue to preoccupy his mind for a few moments
before she replied, "If you do this, I don't want to hear you complain.
I don't want any of the girls at my office to say you were anything but
perfectly behaved. Am I clear?"
"Yes," Lee said in a low voice, burying his chin into the lilac coat
that covered his chest and ended just below his crotch as he did so.
Carrie gave Lee a nod before she said, "Okay. You can stay."
"Thank you," Lee said in a near whisper with his eyes trained on the
floor.
Carrie nodded to herself before she said, "Let's get started then."
Lee was silent while Carrie walked past him and inquired, "Aren't you
coming?"
After a pause, Lee answered with a nod of his head. Lee turned and went
towards the single bedroom of the apartment that Carrie had walked into.
She drew open her closet doors. Her eyes searched the rack of her
clothes before they settled on a fit-and-flare dress that was comprised
of a cottony-soft knit in a multicolored m?lange of prints
After taking hold of the pink, purple and black dress, she ordered,
"Take off my coat."
As he removed the coat, Lee tried to appeal to his sister's reason,
"Carrie, people are going to see right through me."
"You don't give yourself enough credit," Carrie responded while she
brushed his long hair over his shoulder.
"How could people not tell?" Lee asked, hoping that she would see her
folly.
"You don't let them know."
"But..."
Carrie moved towards her brother and hugged him. She then whispered
into his ear, "Everyone who needs to know already knows. They're the
ones you're going to be around the most. They'd know right away and
they already know."
"But...."
"Just keep your head up, keep a smile on your face and you won't attract
too much attention."
"Even then..."
"Please! Remember the Clothe Swap challenge?" Carrie said with a laugh
as she let him go.
Lee blushed at his embarrassment. A lost bet with his sister had led to
a Youtube video where they swapped clothes. Her friends and coworkers
had all commented on the video.
"The girls at my office think we look quite alike," Carrie added. Lee
nodded, remembering their comments to that effect as well.
"Imagine if I made you over too," Carrie continued.
Lee feared the outcome, but he felt he had only one choice. He had to
go along with it and hope that his sister would back out for fear of
losing her job when she came to the inevitable conclusion that he could
not pass for a woman.
"Is the makeover really necessary?" Lee inquired.
"This is way more than a clothes swap, Lee," Carrie started to answer.
Lee forced a fake smile to his face while he interjected, "Don't the
clothes make the girl?"
"Only when she's a girl to begin with," Carrie retorted, growing tired
of her brother's dawdling.
Lee was silent before Carrie told him to get into the shower. Lee
nodded. He felt like a child as his sister followed him into the
bathroom.
"You can't expect me to shower with you in here."
"Of course, not. I don't want to see your naked ass ," Carrie said with
a disgusted look.
Lee felt good about response before she said, "I just want to point you
to two things. Your razor and the shaving gel."
"My razor?" Lee asked as Carrie pointed at the pink and white colored
razor.
"My first gift to you," Carrie answered.
"Is it necessary?"
"I don't want to share a razor with you," Carrie retorted before
pointing out her razor and telling him not to use hers.
"I meant the shaving," Lee rejoined.
Carrie nodded her head while she replied, "I don't want to see a hair
beneath your head. Am I clear?"
Lee nodded, trying to rationalize that body builders and Olympic
swimmers shaved themselves smooth. Once Carrie stepped out of the room,
he got into the shower.
Lee washed his skin before he took hold of the razor and the gel. Lee
cringed as he rubbed the gel onto his legs. The sight struck him as odd
before he ran the blades along his legs.
"Christ," Lee mumbled as he saw the bare spot on his legs before he
cleaned the matted hair from the blades.
With a tremulous hand, Lee reached down and removed more hair from his
body. He tried to focus on anything other than the soft, hairless body
that was emerging with each stroke.
Lee winced at what the razor and gel was producing, knowing that his
body looked nothing like the sculpted bodies that he had tried to
compare with his own. His body looked boyish to almost feminine without
the body hair.
After washing his long hair, Lee turned off the shower and toweled off.
He called out to his sister after wrapping the towel around his waist.
Carrie gave him a faux shocked look as she said, "Carrie, you place the
towel over your breasts!"
"Very funny," Lee retorted.
Carrie laughed before she added, "But seriously, I want you to bring
your towel over your chest."
"Oh, come on," Lee whined.
"No. You're playing a girl now, so play it right," Carrie chided.
Lee rolled his eyes while she looked away and closed her eyes while he
brought the towel over his upper body. Lee told her that she could look
before Carrie reopened her eyes.
Carrie grinned at how girlish Lee's smooth legs looked beneath the hem
like bottom of the towel wrapped around her brother's torso. She gave
his hairless body an approving nod before she told him, "Let's get you
dressed."
Lee bit his lip, struggling not to complain while he followed behind
her. Carrie smiled as she told him to lower his towel. Lee pulled the
towel down to his waist again while he waited for his sister to tell him
what to do next.
The sight of a bra in her hands made him wince. Carrie laughed as she
said, "It's not that bad. Now, just put your arms out.
Lee followed her direction and watched the straps of the bra being
pulled up over his arms before Carrie allowed him to lower them. Carrie
then told Lee to fasten the hooks of the bra's front closure.
Lee's fingers fumbled with the closures before he moved his hands away
from them, embarrassed to have hooked a bra over his flat chest. Lee's
embarrassment soon turned to irritation over the feeling of the bra. He
started to pull at the too tight bra straps that were digging into his
shoulders.
Carrie smirked at his actions before she showed him to how to adjust the
straps. After feeling instant relief as Carrie adjust the right
shoulder strap, Lee then took to adjusting the left strap while his
sister reached into a bag.
"What the hell are those?" Lee asked while his sister produced a pair of
prostheses.
"What do they look?" Carrie retorted as she faced the nipples at Lee.
Lee's stomach turned while he looked at the breast forms. Carrie smiled
at his discomfort before she added, "They're my size, so they'll fit
your bras."
Carrie's words had their intended effect, causing her brother to squirm
from the embarrassment he felt about sporting the same cup size as his
sister. Carrie handed Lee the two forms and told them to put them into
the cups of his bra.
Lee took the forms without a word. He placed them into each cup of his
bra and stared up at his sister. His eyes quickly darted away from her
since he could sense the amusement she was taking from his predicament.
It was even worse than the look he remembered with the Clothes Swap
challenge, since there was no mistaking what they were doing for a game
this time.
After a hesitation, Lee asked, "So, are we sharing your panty drawer?"
Carrie shook her head with a laugh at her brother's attempt to make
light of his situation before she said, "No way! I love you, but not
that not much! I've got a whole bag of hand me downs for you that are
all yours."
Lee was silent while he processed her words. He knew that she had
planned this ruse with more thought than he ever planned anything with
in his life.
Carrie moved around him before she handed him the three-quarter sleeved
dress and said, "Put this on?"
"Before my underwear?" Lee asked while he clutched the black contrast
trim adorned dress.
"Just this once," Carrie answered.
Lee nodded before he pulled the multi-colored dress over his head. He
moved his arms through the soft sleeves before his head poked through
the scooped neckline. Once the hem was resting above his knees, Carrie
yanked away Lee's towel.
Lee's hands pulled down at his fit-and-flare dress, afraid of exposing
himself. The quick reaction made Carrie burst out into a fit of
laughter while she saw her brother clasping at the hem of his dress like
a woman wearing a loose dress on a windy day.
Regaining her composure, Carrie tossed Lee a pair of panties and told
him to put them on. Happy to have anything to cover up his manhood that
was swelling as it swung loosely against his soft dress, Lee stepped
into the panties.
The soft feeling was alien to him and made his manhood stir even more.
His reaction sickened him while he brought the panties over his nearly
fully erect manhood.
"Enjoying it," Carrie teased.
"NO," Lee shouted with flushed cheeks, humiliated to think that the
truthful answer was almost certainly the inverse of what he had stated.
Carrie merely smiled in response before told him to sit down. Lee
followed her direction as she handed him a pair of black tights and told
him how to roll them down.
Lee followed her directions. He rolled the tights down before he
stepped through the donut shaped holes.
Under his sister's watchful eyes and tutelage, Lee slowly pulled the
tights up his legs. The soft feelings enveloping his legs took him by
surprise. He had never felt anything as pleasing to the touch of his
newly smooth legs in his life.
The swelling of his manhood made his cheeks turn scarlet red. He could
not believe that he was enjoying the silky feeling, even as the sight of
the soft, opaque tights climbing his hairless legs was making him sick
to his stomach.
Once Lee finished pulling the tights up his legs, Carrie had him stand
and pull them over his panties. Lee struggled to shift his hips around
to get the tights over them before he gazed back up at his bemused
sister.
Carrie led Lee into the bathroom and began to apply his makeup after
seating him on the toilet seat. As she applied each cosmetic, she
explained how to properly apply it and made Lee repeat her directions,
word for word, before she moved onto the next product.
After applying the last cosmetic to his face, Carrie took hold of her
tweezers. Lee knew what she was planning to do with them and offered no
resistance while he let Carrie clean up his eyebrows before she turned
her attention to his hair.
Carrie brushed out his long hair and had Lee count each stroke she took
until she reached her one hundredth stroke. Putting down the hairbrush,
she smiled as she told her brother, "You look so pretty."
"Yeah, right," Lee retorted, hopeful that his face was as unconvincing
as his body was convincing.
"No, come and see."
"Stop teasing me, Carrie. I know I look like a freak," Lee bemoaned as
he got up.
"Oh, really, take a look sister."
Lee was shocked as he came to a stop in front of the mirror. He gazed
at his reflection that reminded him more of his sister than the man he
recognized in it that morning before going out.
Carrie hugged him and said, "See, we could be twins!"
Lee shook his head, horrified by his feminized appearance. He knew he
was far more convincing than he ever thought was possible.
After letting him take in his appearance in dismayed silence, Carrie
said, "I expect you to get ready every morning just like I do."
"What? Why?"
"Because I'm not going to be here to do it for you."
"Okay," Lee replied, understanding her logic.
"So, I'm going to make sure you can do it before I leave," Carrie
continued.
Lee nodded in reply before he asked, "Can I get changed now?"
"Not yet. I want you to start to get a feel for this. You're going to
be staying as a girl all day."
"Once I start..."
"No. Starting tomorrow, you're getting up when I get up and you're
staying a girl until I get home. Then, you can change."
"Why?"
"It's all about getting you ready for primetime," Carrie answered before
telling her brother to follow her.
Lee followed his sister back into her bedroom and saw the pair of heels
and wedges she had purchased for him. Carrie held out the heels and
said, "Put these on."
Given how far things had already gone, Lee saw no reason to hesitate to
put them on. He took hold of the shoes. As he tried to put the first
shoe on, he struggled to keep his balance, nearly falling in the
process.
"Balance yourself on something," Carrie advised through her laughter.
Lee balanced himself on the wall as he put the 2 ? inch heeled, faux
patent leather, pointed toe pumps on. Carrie grinned while she began to
make him walk around the apartment, her eyes following every step he
took. Lee listened to her directions as she continued to make him walk
in heels for her for the remainder of the night.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Beginning the next morning, Lee found that his sister was true to her
word. As she woke, Carrie called out for him to get up.
Lee forced himself off the couch he had been sleeping on for 18 months
and got to his feet. Lee followed her as she told him to make breakfast
while she showered. Lee made the breakfast and had it waiting on the
table for her when she emerged from the bathroom.
Carrie stepped out of the bathroom and found that Lee had already
finished eating. She ordered him to shower as she sat down to eat.
Lee complied with her direction. He stepped into the bathroom, disrobed
and showered. As the water ran down his body, he checked it for visible
body hair, however, none had sprouted since the day before.
After drying off, Lee went to see his sister. She walked past him fully
dressed for work and told him to get dressed while she put on her
makeup.
Lee nodded as he walked into her room and peered through her open closet
doors. Lee felt strange as he wondered which of his sister's outfits he
should wear for the day. The choices before him made him sick to his
stomach.
Resigned to his fate of two plus weeks of feminization to stay off the
streets, Lee reached into her closet and removed a khaki colored
pantsuit. A white blouse soon followed it out of the closet before Lee
looked at the bra, panties and hosiery choices that his sister left out
for him.
Lee removed his towel and stepped into the beige, cotton panties first.
Lee shuddered as he drew them up his legs. Although he enjoyed the soft
feeling, he could not help but feel like a pervert as his manhood
engorged in his sister's panties.
Reaching for the matching bra, Lee went to place the garment on. He
slipped his arms through the straps before he hooked the front closures
of his beige colored bra and stuffed the cups with the breast forms his
sister had bought for him.
Lee then sat upon Carrie's bed while he rolled down the knee-highs that
he had been given by his sister, since he did not want to deal with the
feeling of tights or pantyhose until he had to. Lee cringed at his
body's reaction to the knee-highs.
"Come on, dude," Lee muttered to himself as his manhood stirred in his
panties from the silky feeling coming over his smooth feet, ankles and
calves.
Lee clenched his eyes and fists hoping that his enjoyment of the
feminine feelings would dissipate before he got to his feet. He reached
for his sister's suit pants and stepped into the light garment.
Standing up, Lee struggled not to step on the cuff of the pants that
came to a rest on the floor. Lee sighed as he looked at the cuffs,
knowing that the cut of all of his sister's dress pants were made for
heeled shoes.
"This is ridiculous," Lee muttered as he reached for the v-neck blouse
with cuffed, short, dolman sleeves and brought it over his head.
Lee pulled the blouse down his body and cringed at how feminine he
appeared in his sister's vanity mirror across the room. Lee cursed
himself for letting himself reach the point in his life where he felt
his very survival was dependent on looking like his sister's
doppelganger.
Lee put the jacket of the suit on before he reached down and grabbed at
his pants legs. Lee pulled them up as he hobbled towards the pair of
wedges his sister had bought for him.
Balancing himself on the wall as he had done the night before, Lee
slipped his right foot into the shoe before he did the same with his
left foot. Lee then walked out of the room and waited for his sister to
open the door to the bathroom at the dinner table.
A few minutes passed before Carrie opened the door and ordered, "Come in
here, Lee."
Lee got to his feet and started towards the bathroom. Carrie grinned as
she saw his outfit.
"Nice choice, sis."
"Thanks," Lee replied, unable to hide his sarcasm from his triumphant
looking sister.
"Very Hillary-esque," Carrie retorted.
"Watch it," Lee groused.
"Oh, how can that still be a sore subject for you?" Carrie replied with
a shake of her head.
"These are your clothes," Lee reminded her.
"And I love them, especially how they flatter you," Carrie joked before
she said, "Now, start with the makeup. I'll be back in a minute."
Lee nodded and reached for the makeup his sister had told him how to
apply the day before. Lee reached for the lipstick and stared up at the
mirror.
His hand trembled as he brought the lipstick up to his lips. He began
to apply it before pausing as he smeared it. Lee clenched his eyes at
what he had done. He reached for a tissue and began to remove the
lipstick from beneath his lips before he went back to applying the
lipstick.
Carrie walked back in and smiled at his lips and said, "Now, those look
kissable."
"Freak," Lee retorted to his sister's laughter, trying to make light of
his situation.
"Hurry up. You're going to be late," Carrie chided.
"This will go faster when you're not here," Lee replied.
"No doubt, but there's no excuse for being late. Get started on those
eyes."
Lee nodded while he reached for his eye shadow. Lee applied it on his
eyelids as his sister gave him pointers before he took hold of his
mascara.
Lee went to apply it before his sister corrected his form. Lee listened
to her gentle chiding before he applied as she directed.
Carrie gave her brother an approving nod as he did so before she said,
"See, I'll make a proper woman out of you in no time."
"It's what I always wanted," Lee responded with feigned enthusiasm.
"It may not be the best situation, but it could be worse," Carrie
reminded Lee before she told him, "Now, don't forget about your hair."
"Oh, how could I?" Lee replied.
"Don't use that tone with me," Carrie rejoined, upset about his
continuing sarcasm despite his agreement.
"Sorry," Lee muttered, remembering his precarious position.
Lee reached for the brush he had inherited from his sister and started
to brush his hair out with one hundred strokes. Carrie counted out the
strokes while she shook her head and stared at her watch.
Lee felt nervous as he felt his sister's disapproval. He tried to speed
up and winced while he pulled knots out of his hair.
Carrie walked out of the bathroom before he finished and said,
"Remember, you're supposed to stay like that all day."
"I know," Lee replied, bothered by her needless reminder.
"I want you practicing in heels and wedges all day."
"Got it."
"I expect hourly selfies to prove that you haven't changed, head to
toe," Carrie added, causing Lee's stomach to sink.
Lee sucked his lips into his mouth and tasted his lipstick while he
gazed up at the bathroom ceiling, realizing that his sister was not
going to let him spend a second without something feminine on.
"Did you hear me?" Carrie asked.
"Yes," Lee answered.
"Good, I'm going to call in periodically to check on you, and I want to
hear your best girly voice when you pickup."
"Fine," Lee said.
"Also, be sure to take some videos of you walking around. I want
something to critique when I get home."
"Anything else?" Lee asked out of exasperation while he put his
hairbrush down and stepped out of the bathroom.
"Just a smile before I leave."
Lee forced a smile to his face that Carrie reciprocated. Lee watched
her turn and leave the apartment before the smile left his face. Lee
shook his head while he looked down at the outfit that he had to wear
for the remainder of the day.
"I do look like fucking Hillary Clinton in this," Lee muttered to
himself while he started towards the door in his wedges. He grabbed
hold of his cell phone and propped it up as he began to saunter about,
videoing his self-consciously swaying steps.
Each step he took in the pitched shoes seemed nearly as weird as it had
the day before when he did it in heels. Pausing to shut off the video
function, Lee then took a selfie of himself and sent it to Carrie.
A text back told him to take it next to the time on the weather channel.
Lee was surprised by the reply, but he acquiesced. Lee then spent the
day following his sister's orders as he waited for her to return.
As the evening came, Carrie walked back into the apartment. She gave
him a smile as she said, "How's my girl holding up?"
"Can I get changed, now?" Lee asked in response.
"That's the deal," Carrie answered before Lee went into the bathroom and
changed out of the girls clothing that had covered his body all day.
Lee used the makeup remover his sister showed him the day before prior
to stepping out of the bathroom.
Lee found dinner waiting for him on the table. He sat down while his
sister came over and began to give him pointers while she turned on the
video's he had taken for her. The constant critiques grated on Lee, but
he knew that he could not complain given the stakes.
As the following morning came, Carrie made Lee added another step to his
morning routine. After finishing with his hair and makeup, Carrie
brought him over to her jewelry box.
Lifting the lid, she told Lee to pick out a necklace and earrings. Lee
gave her a wary look, prompting her to note with a smirk, "You fought
Dad tooth and nail to get those ears pierced when you were 16."
"I'm not 16 anymore."
"You're also not a boy either," Carrie reminded him.
Lee squinted at her before she added, "And what a pretty girl you've
grown up to be."
"Funny," Lee replied while he reached in and selected a necklace.
After placing the necklace on, he sorted through her jewelry box before
he took hold of a pair of earrings. Once he placed them in his ears, he
asked, "Are you happy, now?"
"Very," Carrie said before she headed out her front door.
It had been years since Lee last wore jewelry and he did not enjoy the
feelings of additional pressure on his skin. Lee grinded his teeth for
a bit while he carried out his daily training to become his sister, as
he had done the day before.
Once the evening came, Carrie came home and reviewed the videos that Lee
had taken of himself. She commented on his every step and movement,
making him mirror her hand movements and gait while he walked around
after the dinner he had decided to prepare for her with forlorn hopes of
mercy.
The next day, Carrie decided to push him even further. Lee woke up and
went through his morning routine. At her insistence, he dressed himself
in a green, figure hugging, cap sleeve, sheath dress with a bateau neck
and princess seamed bodice over his nude sheer pantyhose. He finished
his outfit off with three-inch heeled, pointy toed pumps with a tie
closure ankle strap before he applied his makeup, tied his hair back
into a ponytail and placed on the necklace and earrings he had worn the
day before.
To his chagrin, Carrie insisted on him wearing rings. Lee had never
worn a ring in his life and had no intention of ever wearing one. He
slipped two of his fingers into his sister's costume jewelry rings and
shook his head at the feeling of the rings pressing into each finger.
"This is pretty tight," Lee whined to his sister's amusement.
"If you don't like it, you can go buy yourself ones that fit."
Lee shook his head at his sister with a disgusted look. She shot him a
glare as she said, "I was being serious."
"Come on, Carrie," Lee said with a shake of his head.
"You need to face the public sooner or later," Carrie retorted.
Lee's eyes widened as he fixated on Carrie's face. He realized that she
was serious.
"I'm not ready...," Lee began to explain before his sister cut him off.
"You're ready. You need to get this over with. I can't have you
heading to work for the first time as your first experience. You need
to get comfortable with people looking at you and being around you."
Lee blushed at the thought of the eyes of strangers upon him as he
walked down the street dressed like his sister's twin. Carrie grinned
at his embarrassment while she reached into her purse and pulled out
four 20-dollar bills.
She held the money out in front of Lee and told him, "You need to learn
to budget like a girl."
Lee took the money before Carrie continued, "You're going to buy two
rings and a pair of flats and heels with this money."
"This isn't enough..."
"It is if you spend it right."
"Okay," Lee replied while he stared at the money his sister had left in
his hand.
Carrie nodded at her brother before she said goodbye to him and left him
alone in the room. Lee paced around, intermittently slipping his feet
back into his heels and videoing himself as he continued to walk around.
His mind focused on the task he was given. He hated the idea of
stepping out the door en femme, but his situation dictated that the
prospect was a matter of when and not if.
As lunchtime passed, Lee washed the plate he had used and placed it on
the drying rack before he washed his hands. Stepping out of the
kitchen, Lee's eyes focused on the pocketbook that Carrie had lent him.
He went over to the table and sat down. He reached down and picked up
his heels. Once he placed each shoe on, he reached for his purse.
Standing up, he placed the strap on his shoulder and headed to the door.
Lee moved as fast as he could in his tight dress and heels, fearing that
if he dawdled too long he would lose his nerve to comply with his
sister's orders.
Drawing the door open, the steps to the landing in his view never looked
as daunting. He moved towards them with hesitation. He descended the
steps in a slow, measured pace. Every step seemed to be a challenge
while he struggled to angle his foot to land his entire foot on each
step below him.
Reaching the bottom of the stairs, he breathed a sigh of relief. He
winced while he stared down at the three flights remaining, knowing that
he would have to do it all over again.
"How does she make is seem so easy?" Lee wondered aloud as he started
down the next steps. A feeling of unbalance caused him to clutch the
rail midway down the second flight.
Righting himself, Lee's heart raced. He looked around and was grateful
that no one had seen his faltering, slow descent down the staircase.
Once he reached the landing of the final flight, Lee felt jubilant.
Walking towards the front door of the building seemed easy and the few
wide steps that led from the building's front door seemed easy by
comparison to the interior staircase.
The elation of conquering the staircase faded as Lee realized that he
was outside en femme. The smile left his face while he stared around at
the smattering of people walking down the sidewalks that ran alongside
both sides of the city street.
Few of the strangers acknowledged his presence to his relief. Lee felt
largely invisible while he began to walk down the sidewalk.
Lee's eyes fixated on the ground before him, fearing that he would catch
his heels in the grates as he had seen his mother do once as a boy.
While he walked with his head down, he caught a few people gazing at
him. Some smiles on the faces of men he had never seen before made him
queasy.
'They must think I'm hot,' Lee figured to his dismay.
As Lee came upon a string of storefronts, Lee looked up at the store
names. They were all familiar to him. They were places that his sister
infrequently shopped. She could not afford to shop at the stores often
and Lee knew that they were out of his modest price range.
The name of a discount retailer came into view. Lee picked up his pace
as he moved towards the store, feeling more confident about his ability
to pass himself off as a woman while he did so. Lee moved towards the
doors and pushed through the revolving doors that led inside.
Knowing the task at hand, Lee did not dawdle as he headed straight for
the women's shoe department that was in his line of sight. Lee moved
towards the crowded area and saw women sorting through the shoes.
His heart began to race as he slipped amongst them, attracting little
attention. Some of the women struck Lee as attractive. Under other
circumstances, he knew that he would be asking them out. The arch of
his feet and the sensation of nylons compressing his erection served as
a reminder that he was in no position to do so at the moment. He knew
that he was nothing more than another girl in the eyes of the unfamiliar
girls he was amidst.
Remembering the size of the shoes he was wearing, Lee searched for a
pair of heels to supplement his nascent collection. Lee walked around
the other women, feeling like an outsider among them, even as he sensed
that he was viewed by them as nothing of the sort.
Lee's eyes focused on a pair of plain, black heels. They were not the
sort of attention grabbers that his sister was prone to buy, but he did
not want to attract attention to himself. He looked down and found a
box in the size of the shoes on his feet.
He moved towards a stool and rested upon it as he removed the shoe from
his right foot. He placed his right foot into the faux leather pump
with a three inch block heel and rounded and found that it was slightly
too small. He closed his eyes as he placed his pump back on and went
back to where he found the shoes.
He searched the boxes again and found a shoe a half size bigger than the
one he tried on. Lee grinned at the number on the box as he took hold
of it and balanced himself on the shoe rack as he stood back up.
Lee went back towards the stool and tried on the shoes. He was relieved
that they fit before he put them back away and began to look for a pair
of flats in his size.
The femininity of the flats he looked at made Lee's stomach sink. He
shook his head at the thought of wearing any of the bow-adorned shoes.
The realization that they were no more effeminate than the heels he was
wearing, however, made him laugh to himself at the absurdity of the
worry.
"Are you finding everything okay, miss," a salesgirl inquired.
Lee responded in his practiced feminine tone, "Yes, thank you."
"If you need anything, just let me know," the perky girl replied.
"Will do," Lee answered before he turned away from the girl, sure that
he had fooled her.
Restricted by his budget, Lee settled on the cheapest pair of flats he
could find in his size. The black, scrunch, ballet flats felt strange
on his feet, but less than the heels that he was becoming acclimated to
much faster than he ever imagined.
With the shoes selected, Lee started towards the jewelry department.
Bypassing the jewelry beneath the glass counters, Lee went to the
costume jewelry and began to look through the rings.
Lee fretted as he looked at the prices of the rings he picked up. He
knew that they were close to putting him over his $80.00 limit. He kept
moving through the selection until he came upon cheaper and cheaper
offerings.
Finding the rings in his price range, Lee first selected a silver plated
eternity ring that was adorned with small faux diamonds across the
entire ring. Lee then paired the ring with a plain, silver plated band
ring.
With his selections made, Lee headed to the register. A grin came upon
his face as he saw the register ring up a price considerably lower than
his budget. Lee paid the clerk with the money his sister had given him
before he headed out the door clutching the bags containing his
purchases.
Lee went back to his apartment and strolled up to the front door. He
winced as he closed the door and stared at the staircase he was going to
have to negotiate again.
Lee paused to take a selfie with his shopping bags for his sister before
she called him to give him advice about navigating the stairs in heels.
Lee thanked her in his best feminine tone and began to ascend the
staircase.
Following his sister's advice, Lee worked the straps of the bags up his
wrists and clasped them as he continued to start up the steps. Lee's
eyes focused on the steps while he landed only the toes of his shoes on
the steps, leaving his heels up in the air. Lee felt awkward landing
all his weight on just the toes and balls of his feet, but he found that
it was effective for ascending the staircases.
Once he made it up the staircases, Lee went into his sister's apartment.
He called her and asked what she wanted for dinner before he began to
prepare making it for her arrival.
Carrie came home in the evening and sat down for dinner with her brother
as she reviewed his tapes, telling Lee not to change. Lee was
disappointed to be stuck in his heels, but he did not complain.
Once Lee finished cleaning up after dinner, she inspected his purchases
and grinned at his left over money.
"Smart girl," she said as he handed her his change.
"Why's that?"
"You always go under budget because you never know when you're going to
have to spend it on something else."
Lee nodded at his sister's rationalization before she let him take off
his heels and put on the flats that he had bought. Lee was relieved by
how soft they felt under his feet, even as the feeling of the elastic
stretching to the size of his foot seemed odd to him as he relaxed for
the remainder of the night.
The next morning, Lee got ready again and awaited his assignment from
his sister. Carrie was quieter than normal that morning, which only
served to make Lee more anxious.
Before she stepped out of the door, Carrie asked, "Do you want to know
what I'm going to ask you to do today?"
"That's what I've been waiting for?" Lee answered while he sat her table
with his black, sheer pantyhose covered legs crossed at the ankle.
Carrie smiled as she opened a closet door and pulled out a bag. Lee
gave the shopping bag a weary look before she placed it on the table.
Lee leaned forward and reached into the bag. The grey and black, race
back, sports bra he retrieved struck him as odd before he saw the pink,
thong like garment in the bag as well.
"What is all this?"
"It's all part of the outfit you're wearing to the gym."
"What gym?"
"My gym."
"I can't go to your gym."
"My Gym ID is in the bag."
"But..."
"Listen, you need to learn to interact with girls."
"I've been doing that my whole life."
"Not for the reasons a girl does. There's an aerobics class at 11. I
expect before and after selfies proving that you're there."
"Carrie..."
"This is not up for discussion," Carrie retorted before she pulled out a
ring from the bag.
"What is that?" Lee asked as he stared at the ring that looked like an
engagement ring.
"It's a fake engagement ring. It's a conversation piece and it also
serves as a man repellant, at least for most men," Carrie said with a
shake of her head.
"Is that something I really need?"
"Trust me, it will come in handy," Carrie replied before she went to
leave the apartment.
As she closed the door behind her, Lee reached into the bag and removed
the remainder of the items that she had left for him. After shaking his
head at the clothing, Lee stripped out of his outfit and reached for the
pink gaffe.
The garment felt tighter than anything he ever wore before and almost
made him long for the feelings of the outfit he had dressed in that
morning. He reached to tuck away his manhood and felt it instantly
compressed tightly to his body.
The discomfort he felt in the tight garment made him grimace while he
reached for his sports bra. Lee pulled it over his head before he
slipped the forms into the compression bra that forced them snugly
against his freshly shaved chest.
The black athletic panty was brought up his legs next. He felt
disgusted as he enjoyed the feeling of the panty ascending his hairless
legs. The pain from his manhood's frustrated efforts to become erect
soon drove those feelings away.
"This is torture," Lee whined to himself while he took hold of the
bottom his sister had left for him.
Lee stepped into the knit jogger pants that Carrie for him. He was
relieved that the pants were baggy and did nothing to draw attention to
his unnaturally smoothened crotch.
After finishing adjusting the waist of the pants, Lee took hold of the
tight, white tee shirt and slipped it over his head. Lee was relieved
that it gave no glimpse of his false bust before he reached for the
white ankle socks and white and teal colored sneakers.
Once Lee finished putting on his socks and tying his sneakers, he
slipped his finger into the faux engagement ring. He then took hold of
his sister's Gym Identification Card and placed it in his purse before
he headed out the door.
Lee felt more at ease as he descended the staircase in his girl's
sneakers. Other than the feeling of the tied up hair and the
compression on his chest and crotch, little felt different from when he
had last been able to step out of his sister's apartment as a man.
Lee hurried down the steps with a spring in his steps from not having to
make his way down them in heels. He exited the building and jogged to
the Gym that his sister had a membership in.
He produced his card to the man at the reception desk and asked if there
was an opening for the 11 A.M. aerobics class. The man nodded before he
sent Lee on his way.
Lee went towards the locker room to put away his purse. He wanted to
put it away, but felt as if he would be a pervert to step into the
women's locker room. With that thought in mind, he poked his head into
the studio room and decided that he could leave it to the side of the
room, as a number of girls that had arrived early for the class had
done.
After sneaking a selfie as he placed his bag down, Lee began to stretch
like he saw the other girls doing. Some of the girls asked him his
name. Lee replied with his sisters before one asked, "When did you get
engaged?"
"Just recently," Lee lied.
"You bagged one," another joked.
"Sure did."
"What's he like?"
Lee cringed at the suggestion that he was marrying a man. There was no
other implication possible in his mind given his ring. Lee felt as if
he was betraying himself as he replied, "He's nice."
Implying that he was marrying a man in his own words made Lee's stomach
wrench. He could not fathom doing it for real. Even pretending to be
willing to do it was sickening to him.
"Cute?" One asked.
"Very," Lee lied.
"Where's he from?" One inquired.
"London," Lee replied, deciding to go with the details of his sister's
boyfriend, since they were the one ones he was familiar with.
"A Brit?" One eager replied before she asked, "Does he have a handsome
brother for me?"
"Afraid not."
"Oh, you're so lucky."
Lee shrugged, not feeling lucky about anything at the moment while he
continued to chat with the girls about his fictional fianc?.
Lee was relieved when the class started. The female instructor led him
and the girls in the class through a series of exercises.
As the class proceeded through the halfway mark, Lee realized that he
was in the worst shape of anyone in the room. Lee huffed as he
continued through the workout. Lee struggled to keep up with the class
and was exhausted by the end of it.
"Aren't you going to shower?" One girl asked as he headed for the door.
"When I get home," Lee admitted as he rushed out before the girl could
ask a follow up question, taking a selfie in the process.
Lee walked back to the apartment with sluggish steps. His legs felt
heavy as he forced himself up the multiple flights of stairs that led to
his sister's walkup apartment.
Lee showered and repeated his morning routine before he went back to
training himself. The walking in heels felt even more painful due to
the cramping in his legs and abdomen from his workout. Despite the
discomfort, he forced himself to practice throughout the afternoon
before he began to make dinner.
Once Carrie came home, Lee told her every detail about his trip to the
gym while they ate dinner. Carrie then gave Lee pointers to improve
himself further before she went to bed for the night.
As Friday came, Carrie told Lee to meet her and her coworkers en femme
at a restaurant near their office. Lee was unhappy about the task of
the day, but he knew he had to get his introductions with them over.
Lee left the apartment and headed for the subway station that his sister
took to work each morning. Lee made his way down the steps, feeling
more comfortable with his angled steps than he had been when he first
went down a staircase en femme on Wednesday.
Lee waited for the subway train to arrive. He stood in silence amongst
throngs of people. A few gave him looks that no longer seemed alien to
him, even though they remained unwanted.
Once the train came to a stop, Lee waited for people to exit the train
before he forced his way onboard. Finding an open seat, Lee rushed over
to it.
The girl around his age that was sitting next to him gave him a smile.
Lee reciprocated with the girl he found attractive.
"Those shoes are so cute," the girl said.
"Oh, thanks," Lee replied, caught of guard by her comment. While he
wanted nothing more to have sex with the girl, he realized that she
expected him to be an ordinary girl like her.
The girl's smile left before Lee added, "Those flats are pretty."
"These?" The girl asked.
"Where did you get them?" Lee replied, trying to imitate what he was
sure his sister would do if she were talking with the girl.
The girl told him the name of the store that he knew was out of his
price range. The girl asked about his ring.
'Just kill me,' Lee thought to himself as he looked at the ring he had
put on to avoid men trying to pick him up on the train car.
Lee forced himself to make small talk about his "fianc?" before he asked
about her relationship status. She gave him a smile as she replied,
"I'm not seeing anyone at the moment."
"You'll find someone," Lee replied as he thought, 'Fuck me.'
"You know what they say, all the good ones are taken or gay," the girl
responded with a shake of her head.
'Or sitting next to in a fucking dress,' Lee thought to himself with a
scowl before the girl added, "You're so lucky to have found the right
guy."
'So, lucky,' Lee thought before the loquacious girl said goodbye when
she exited at a stop. Lee followed her with his eyes. Every inch of
her turned him on, but he knew that he was no position to act on his
feelings.
'Just kill me,' Lee thought again as he put his head back down and tried
to forget about the girl who was prettier and nicer than any girl he had
talked with in over a year.
As his station was announced, Lee got to his feet and made his way off
the train. He forced himself through a crowd of people that nearly
knocked him over before he got on an escalator and road it to the top.
Lee walked through the remainder of the subway station until he reached
the steps leading to the surface.
Looking around the crowded sidewalk after ascending the steps, Lee's
eyes darted down to his cell phone. Lee followed the directions to the
restaurant.
Pausing before the door, Lee called his sister.
"Where are you?" Carrie asked.
"I'm right outside the restaurant."
"Then, come on in. Are you waiting for an invitation?" Carrie retorted
while he heard other girls snickering at his call in the background.
Lee hung up and stepped inside the restaurant. He looked around and
found his sister and her coworkers.
"Hey, Carrie," one of the girls said while Lee stopped next to his
sister.
Lee forced a grin to his face as he said hello to Sandi, a girl he had
met on a number of occasions. Lee sat down while he was introduced to
the other five girls from his sister's office.
"I never knew you were so pretty," Sandi teased while he sat down.
"Oh, stop that," Gloria, the partner in charge of the branch replied as
she saw Lee's reddened cheeks.
"You're definitely a lot more than I imagined," the other partner at the
branch chimed in.
"My sister and I have got good genes," Carrie replied for her brother.
"I can see that," Marjorie responded.
"So, you went to law school?" Gloria asked Lee.
Lee nodded before she asked where he went. Lee answered before she
inquired the year he graduated.
As Lee spoke the year, Marjorie turned to Naomi and said, "Didn't you
graduate that year?"
Naomi nodded as she replied, "That's right."
"But she passed the bar," Carrie added, prompting a glare from her
brother.
"Isn't Lee's school better," Deborah, the office's legal secretary
interjected.
"Not when it comes to results," Naomi countered, not liking it when her
less prestigious school was belittled.
Lee cringed, wanting to defend his school, but he found himself unable,
knowing that he was among a number of unemployed graduates from his
class.
As the girls ordered food and drinks, Lee joined in. He chatted with
the girls. Despite their teasing of him, he felt that they were nice
enough to deal with and figured he could handle them over the short
term.
After dinner, Lee went home with Carrie and let her give him the details
about the girls' lives. They were all married, divorced or engaged.
Lee nodded while he learned more about the girls than he ever figured he
would have to know to be around them for a few weeks.
Lee then spent his Saturday helping his sister pack while she gave him
last minute pointers about how to improve his impersonation of her. Lee
took careful mental notes, knowing that they would be the last he would
receive from her in person.
The next day, Lee saw off his sister at the airport when she left to
join her boyfriend and his family in England. Lee waited at the airport
until her plane was ready for takeoff. He kept hoping that she would
not board the plane. He daydreamed about her turning around and telling
him that she could not expect him to be her for a few weeks.
Carrie never returned. Lee saw the insignia of her airline flying
through the sky before he headed back to the shuttle that led to the
station that would take him back to his apartment. As the bus started
down the road, Lee sensed that he was his sister until further notice.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The buzz of Carrie's alarm clock woke Lee on Monday morning. He stared
around his sister's room as he forced himself off her bed.
It was the first time that he had slept in a bed since he moved in with
his sister. The womanly touches his sister decorated the room he was
using for himself until she returned served as a reminder of his fate
for the coming weeks.
Lee never expected to sleep in a room that was decorated with pale pink
walls, floral curtains and prints of photographs and paintings that
reflected his sister's girly girl taste. Lee got out of bed and stared
down at the hairless body that he had shaven the night before.
With a grunt, Lee pushed himself out of bed. He made his way to the
bathroom and showered before he dried himself off.
Returning to his bedroom, Lee walked over to his sister's closet and
drew the doors open. He stared at the various items of professional
attire she had left behind. She had left every suit she owned, in
addition to a number of dresses.
Lee figured that she would not need professional attire abroad since she
was not working, so the decision made sense to him. Lee stroked his
smooth chin before he reached for a skirt. He placed it to the side as
he paired it with a sweater, not wanting to be overdressed by comparison
to his fellow members of the support staff.
With the decision made, Lee went to the dresser that his sister had left
for his use. Lee pulled open the drawer containing the hand me down
intimates that his sister told him belonged to him.
Lee reached in and took hold of a black cotton bra, black cotton panties
and nude pantyhose. After Lee stepped into his panties and put on his
bra, he began to work the pantyhose up his legs. Once he shimmied the
control top of the tights to his waist, he stuffed his bra and walked
over to the closet.
After bringing the sweater with twin ruffles running down the front over
his head, Lee worked his hands through the ruffles circling the cuffs.
Once he finished adjusting the lightweight, grey sweater over his faux
bust, Lee slipped his legs into the ivory-colored, floral lace pencil
skirt and brought it up to his waist. As he fastened the above-knee
length skirt, Lee's eyes were drawn to the door leading to the bathroom.
Lee walked into the bathroom to do his makeup. He strolled into the
room and went through his increasingly familiar morning routine. Lee
watched his motions in the mirror while he added cosmetic after cosmetic
to his face.
As he smacked his lips, he was still surprised by how passable his looks
were and how similar he looked to his sister. The reality that he was
going to be posing as her for a few weeks seemed bizarre. The fact that
he was certain that he could do it, however, was unsettling to him.
After brushing his hair out like his sister sometimes wore it, Lee was
amazed by how feminine he looked with his long hair framing his makeup
covered face. Lee walked out of the bathroom and placed on his sister's
coat.
He reached down and placed his heels in the over sized purse his sister
used for work. After placing his makeup bag in it as well, Lee slipped
his feet into his black scrunch flats and started for the door.
Lee locked the apartment door behind him before he went down the stairs.
Lee was relieved by how much easier it was too walk down the steps in
the flats, even as he understood why his sister had forced him to learn
how to handle them in heels.
Lee went to the subway station and waited with masses of others for the
subway train. Lee struggled to push his way inside with the others
before he made his way into the middle of the car and grabbed the
overhead rail for balance.
As the train jerked forward, Lee was relieved to be out of his heels for
the ride. The constant weight of his stuffed purse on his shoulder,
however, grew bothersome as the train made its way through various
stops.
The constant jostling from those entering and exiting the train car
seemed even more irritating than when he was a man. While some of the
men were more careful about knocking into him en femme, he found that
the looks he got from others were disturbing.
'Blow me, you fag,' Lee thought as he scowled at the sight of a man
leering at his body, unwilling to realize that the man was attracted to
him because the man thought Lee was a girl.
As the train emptied out a large station, Lee was relieved to see a few
seats open up. Lee rushed to sit before the new riders could enter.
Lee smoothed out his skirt as he sat, remembering his sister's chiding.
He crossed his legs as his sister had trained him to do in a skirt while
the train continued to fill until the doors closed.
With a moment to think about what was awaiting him at the office, Lee
wondered if his sister's coworkers would still be nice to him without
her presence. Lee knew that he needed them on his side to help make the
days go by faster and easier. He decided that he would do everything
they asked and force himself to be pleasant, despite the self-disgust he
felt about what he was doing.
When the subway train pulled into the station near his sister's office,
Lee got to his feet. He pushed through the crowd with a few others
while he made his way out of the train car.
Lee followed the crowd to the escalator and rode it up before he went up
a flight of stairs. The city streets were louder and busier than they
had been the Friday evening when he met his sister and his coworkers.
Lee gazed around at the thousands of professionals dressed for their
days at work while he made his way to his sister's office building,
surprised to be one of them for a change.
Lee stepped inside and flashed the security desk his sister's
identification card as he walked by. As his sister had promised him,
the security staff never checked the name or photograph. They were
satisfied by the name of the building and the hologram that its security
staff had designed.
Walking towards the elevator, Lee saw Sandi standing in the middle of
the rows of elevators, waiting for one to open.
"Hi, Sandi," Lee said with a smile.
"Carrie, did you shrink?" Sandi asked with a quizzical look on her face.
Lee gave her a confused look before a smile came upon her face. Sandi's
eyes darted down to his flats before they rose up to meet his.
Her slight movements made Lee realize what she meant. He laughed to
himself as he answered, "My heels are in the bag."
"Your first day, and you're already a pro about these things!"
"I was trained by the best," Lee replied.
The doors to one of the elevators opened, prompting Lee and Sandi to
walk inside where they were joined by a dozen others. Lee and Sandi
were silent while they rode the cramped elevator up to their floor. Lee
was relieved that they were on a lower floor since it let them exit the
elevator after only a few seconds.
Sandi hurried ahead of Lee and held the door open for him. Lee gave a
mock-irritated look as he inquired, "Aren't you going to say, ladies
first?"
"You said it for me, so, go on in," Sandi replied with a smile.
Lee said, "Thank you; you're a gentleman and a scholar."
"Don't ever call me either of those again," Sandi retorted.
"Duly noted."'
"Carrie, doesn't say duly," Sandi chided.
"I'll take a mental note," Lee replied.
"She would say that either."
"What would say?" Lee asked.
"PLEASE," Sandi replied in a mock dismissive tone.
"Sounds like Carrie."
"Then, try it out."
"PLEASE," Lee replied, trying to imitate his sister's tone and
dismissive hand waiving.
"Good, not great, but you're getting there."
"Thanks," Lee replied with evident sarcasm as they walked into their
office.
"Getting even closer," Sandi replied with a laugh before she sat down at
her cubicle.
Lee's eyes then focused on the placard that was affixed to the outside
