Wish Shift: Chapter Sixteen Breaking Point Year 1 A.S. Day 91 After leaving Dr. Waverly's office Jenny asked them if they would stop at Java Jolts on the way to the grocery store. She said she wanted to get a tea and return the book that Derek had loaned her. Mom and Amelia both said it was fine and exchanged a quick look between themselves that Jenny didn't catch from the back seat. Danny didn't really have an opinion about whatever Jenny's interest in Derek was yet. Sam had, of course told him about the interest that she had noticed Derek paying to Jenny. She also said that Jenny didn't seem to think it was something more even if Sam thought it may be something in waiting. They pulled into the parking lot and Jenny got out. She said she would only be a minute and asked them if they wanted anything. They said to get them some coffee and watched her as she walked across the parking lot into the coffee shop. "She picked a good looking man to get involved with even if she doesn't know she is yet," Amelia said. "I hope he's worth it to her." Danny didn't say anything. He was hoping the same thing. After so much change and so much loss, he hoped that his daughter would be able to have something good of her own now that she was starting to settle into her life. "Something's different about you," Derek said to her as she walked up to the counter. He looked her up and down. "New shoes, right?" he said. "You knew I was getting the belly off today," she said and asked him for her tea and a couple of regular coffees to go. "Just kidding, you look good with it off," he said turning to make up her order. "Don't get too used to it," she said. "The next time you see it, it'll be for real." He finished making up the coffees, put travel lids on the cups and handed them over to her. She started to reach into her murse to get the money. "No charge," he said. "And before you say anything you're already feeding me this afternoon so we're square alright?" "Ok. If that's how you want to play it," she said. "Oh and my mom and grandma were able to come down after all, so as long as you feel comfortable with that change in plans be there after three." "Whoa, meeting the family," he said. "Maybe I should dress up," he said fingering the faint stubble on his chin. "Knock it off hotshot," she said, "it's just a BBQ with a friend so don't get yourself all wound up." She picked up the drinks and started back out to the car. As soon as she was out the door, Mindy came in from the back office. "BBQ with a friend my ass," he said following Derek's gaze. "She may not know it yet, but it's just a hair past being that." "Do you eavesdrop every time we talk?" Derek asked him. "Nope," he said, "just when it's interesting." Derek threw a bar towel at him and pretended that his ex wasn't being serious. Jenny pushed the cart through the meat section and stopped to look at some spareribs. "That's a lot for a little cookout," Mom said pointing at the big package of steaks Jenny had just put into the basket. "You wouldn't happen to be eating everything in sight again would you?" Jenny rolled her eyes and breathed out heavily. "It just started two days ago. Just a couple of weeks ago all I could do was gorge and barf. Now all of the sudden I just want to gorge. But at least I can have coffee again if I want it." She heard her mother suppress a chuckle. "I was like that with you. Your father almost lost a finger or two before it calmed down," he reached into the cold case and got a big package of hot dogs. "Just in case," he said winking at her. "And I would have probably gotten this much anyway even if you and grandma hadn't come down," she said as they moved into the produce section to get some potatoes. "I don't think even you could eat that much right now," Mom said. "Maybe later, but not now." "Well I kind of invited Derek over since I thought it would just be me this weekend. We've been talking a lot after I finish at the institute and he's been good about letting me dump my troubles on him every once in a while." Danny looked over at Amelia. Amelia mouthed, "I told you," to him and then asked Jenny if she wanted her to get anything from the dairy case while they were pawing through vegetables. Jenny said ok and asked her to pick up a couple of things and then turned back to looking over some ears of corn. "So he's been a pretty good friend for you then?" Mom asked. "Yeah, he has been," she said. "You know he's really the first friend that I have around since I got back from China. I keep in touch with everyone pretty well, but he's here so it kind of makes it easier." "So is there a chance he could become a close friend then?" he asked hesitantly, not wanting to scare her off now that she seemed to have started taking this kind of step. "No, it's nothing like that," she said reaching for a bag to put tomatoes in. "We just hang out when I'm at the coffee shop and he's been really good about listening when I have something I can't talk with anyone else about. I'm surprised that he puts up with me honestly. Half the time we talk about nothing and the rest is me boring him with my problems. But he's been good about it." Your father was good about that too Danny thought to himself, but didn't say anything. "So what was it that the doctor said to you about how Sonya might be doing? Have they told you anything yet? He asked, changing the subject. "Dr. Min did tell me some things, but I really think it should wait for us to get home. There's kind of a lot of possibilities there and I want for us to be sitting down when we get into that," Jenny really didn't want to go into any more detail than that right now. "So what happened with Jake? All you said before you left was that it was a mess and you had to go back," she asked Danny. "It was a mess all right," Danny said also glad that she had changed the subject as well. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mess was kind of an understatement. Jake had thrown a full blown hissy fit over Mattie when the boys had gone back to school. It didn't sound like much at first, just Jake being Jake unfortunately, but it turned into something much more serious the longer it went on. It had started when Jake and Kim had taken them to school to drop them off. Little Jake had left right away, he wanted to catch up with his friends before class. But Mattie had hung back. Danny figured when he heard about it that he was still very anxious about having to go back to classes in his new five year old body. When Mattie asked if he could go home instead Jake immediately insisted that he go in right that minute. She started off with the same rant she had been subjecting Mattie to for the last couple of weeks. Telling him that even though he was younger now, he still had to put everything behind him start learning to be a man now. Kim was about to step in and try to back Jake down when it happened. Mattie saw Coach Ramsey walking across the campus toward the admin building. Coach Ramsey as it turned out was who had swapped into her boyfriend's body and when Mattie saw him he just lost control and started wailing uncontrollably. Jake was instantly infuriated by Mattie's behavior and got up as close to him as she could and started screaming at him and verbally abusing him for his weakness. When Kim tried to pull him back she pushed him away and told him to stay out of her trying to make Mattie learn the real truth as she put it. Some of the teachers came over and started to intervene and that is when Jake turned on them and started hitting one of the teachers while screaming for them to stay out of her family's business. Jake had ended up getting arrested for assault and social services had been called in to investigate possible child abuse. After the police took Jake away, Kim had to meet with the principal as soon as the commotion died down. He told Kim that what had happened was so beyond the pale that he had decided that it would be best if Jake was now permanently banned from school property. It took a lot of talking on Kim's part with both the principal and the teacher, but he got them agree to drop the assault charges if he got Jake into some kind of treatment program immediately and Jake stayed away from Mattie and Little Jake. Danny had to go back because Kim wanted him and Sam to take Little Jake and Mattie while he found some place that would force Jake to deal with her changes in a more positive way. But when Kira found out about it later that evening it was a good thing that Danny had already returned, because it took everything he, Sam and Kim had to keep her from going over to Jake's house and beating her into a pulp. Even though Kira had changed like everyone else, if anything her protective nature toward family had intensified and the fact that it was a family member that had caused the problem had stripped a good deal of mercy from her where Jake was concerned. Kim had brought both the boys over as soon as Little Jake had finished with his classes. Mattie had been with him all day, after Jake's meltdown he had been a wreck for the rest of the day and it was all Kim could do to keep him from melting into a crying puddle the entire time. Sam had come home as soon as Kim had called her at the shop and was waiting to take care of Mattie while he left to confront Jake. When Danny had gotten back that was how he had found them. In the living room with Mattie's tiny body cradled in Sam's arms and still softly crying even hours after it had happened. Over and over he kept asking grandpa why dad just couldn't let her be and while Sam had no answer she could give. She could do the one thing that she knew wouldn't hurt. She kept holding her grandson and let him cry it out as long as he needed to. It was a rare thing that Danny felt the kind of cold fury that seeing Mattie like that brought out of him, but if he had seen Jake just then it would have been him rather than Kira that Jake would have needed to stay clear of. He wasn't often standing where he stood emotionally right then, but this was definitely one of those times. Kim knew better than to let Jake anywhere near the family until some tempers had cooled, even though he had to struggle to not give in to his own impulse to do as Kira suggested and beat the hell out of Jake until she got her head back on straight. When he finally sat down with her after letting Jake rant for a while to deflate some of the poison in her, he did the next best thing. He told Jake that if she ever did anything remotely like what had happened at school again anywhere, he would take the kids and leave. He told her that he had been more than patient with her behavior since the Shift and that he knew that she was having a tough time adjusting. But that wasn't going to happen anymore. He told her that his patience was now exhausted and that threatening his kids the way she had was a giant step past enough. He fixed Jake in her eyes and told her that if she didn't find some other way to cope with how things were now by finding a program somewhere to help her come to terms with it she would be on her own for good. Kim gave Jake until the end of the week to show her that she was willing to do something to show them that she wanted to be with them even with these changes. Jake knew better than to try to bully Kim when she was this angry. She may have mostly got her way throughout their marriage, but that didn't mean that she hadn't run up against the steel Kim kept hidden inside of him where some things were concerned. Jake didn't say anything when Kim left to go over to stay with his parents. Before he left Kim told her to call him only when she had an answer for him. Any other reason and he would hang up on her. It took the better part of a week for Jake to give in and call Kim. But when she did she was excited. She kept saying that she had the answer. That there was a group that she had contacted that would make everything right with them. She even was saying that they could reverse the Shift and everything would be like it was for their family. Kim had started to hang up on her when she started in with that drivel. But instead he asked her if this involved some kind of program to help her cope with her inappropriate behavior and would she be willing to go into it immediately. Jake told her she would, but she wanted Kim to go with her. Kim told him that she would think about it and give her an answer the next day. When he talked with Sam and Danny about it that night they both expressed a lot of skepticism about Jake's claims, Sam said that Jake had finally gone around the bend with this conspiracy bullshit, but in the end they agreed with Kim that if it could possibly start Jake in the direction of learning to cope with the world the way it was now, maybe it would be worth it and if nothing else they would look for another program while Kim was away with her. Jake drove up soon after Kim called her to say that he would go with her. She was still wearing the dirty men's clothes that she wore the day of the fight. They had left together but Kim told her that he would go with her only on a trial basis. He warned her that if he didn't see any improvement in a reasonable time or if this was some bullshit scam they would leave immediately and he would find her some other place that stood a better chance of helping Jake or he would file for divorce and sole custody of Mattie. Danny told Jenny that they had left about four days before and since they called to say that they had gotten there, neither he nor Sam had heard anything from either of them. Sam was watching the kids this weekend now while George kept them company. Danny had considered bringing Mattie down with them, but Sam had talked him out of it. She thought that Mattie still needed some peace and time to himself to come to some kind of terms with everything that had happened over the last week or so. She thought that if Danny and Amelia took him down with them, he would be more concerned with keeping up a front, rather than finding his own way through it all. Danny had reluctantly agreed, but asked Sam to call him if there was any change and if there was he would leave immediately and be back on the way up. "So you haven't heard anything since then?" Jenny asked quietly as they made their way to the front register. "No," Danny said "And if I don't hear from them soon I'm going to start being seriously worried for Kim," he said. "Do you think that it will stand any chance of helping Jake?" Jenny asked. "I don't know. But it's better than the nothing she has been doing and I hope for both their sakes it does," he said as they got into the short line. Jenny hoped it would too and for a long moment she was so very glad that she had Dr. Warren and her family there for her. She didn't want to think what she would have done without them or without Derek to listen to her when they were absent. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Year 1 A.S Day 90 Kira and Dianne were taking turns pushing their shopping cart. They would swap off from time to time. It was a kind of dance that they had developed when they started shopping together just before they had gotten married. One of them would tag out and head off to scoop up something that was on their list or had caught their eye and shortly after they got back they would switch again while the other went off the do the same thing. While they did this they kept up a running conversation that managed somehow, not to break the thread of their topic when one of them went away. They had a lot to talk about this weekend. To say it had been eventful was putting it mildly. There had been the whole fiasco with Jake and even after Kim, Danny and Sam had talked with her it finally took Dianne to talk Kira out of going over to beat Jake senseless. Dianne really loved Kira, but she had a hard time trying to restrain her husband when her blood was up and she wanted to do something like this. Especially since she wanted to beat her to it. The lawyer in her could give her a dozen reasons not to lay hands on Jake, but after being part of this family for the short time she had been, it was a struggle for her to listen to herself. After Jake and Kim left, Kira started to calm down. When Danny called them to ask if they would like to come down to visit Jenny with him and Amelia it was a hard thing for them to say no. Dianne had really missed staying with Jenny and hearing from Danny later when they got down there about how well she seemed to be doing made her feel a lot better and at the same time it made her sad that they couldn't be there as well. Kira was also disappointed. She had started talking about going down there more often to set up some day trips with her and Dianne. When Kira started to charge off on something like this Dianne had to rein her in so she wouldn't just take off without getting some kind of plan before she went. She may have changed bodies, but Kira was still just as impulsive in Dianne's opinion. "I do have some good news," she said. "Uh-huh, what's that," Kira said. "I heard back from the lead attorney for the V.A. Their going to drop the case and reinstate George's disability and pay him for the time that they stopped payment," she said. "That's good," Kira said. "When I was talking with Jenny while we were down there, I told her that they would not want to set a precedent and that this case would probably do exactly that. Looks like I won't get to go before the Supreme Court after all," she said looking at Kira. "George must be happy then. Have you called him?" she said absently. "His phone was on Mars, so I sent him a carrier pigeon. I'll know what he thinks when he faxes me a banana," she said. "Well so long as he knows it's gonna be fine I suppose," she said. "Tell me something Kira," she asked. "What?" she said back. "Just how long have you been staring at that guy's ass?" Kira shook herself back to reality and blushed that Dianne had caught her. "I..I..I," she stammered. "Don't say you weren't, I've been watching you the last few minutes," she said. Dianne wasn't angry. That surprised her because when she had thought about something like this happening she had wondered which one of them would be the one that got busted doing it. "He does have a great ass though," she said to Kira. Kira looked over to her. She laughed a little. "Don't tell me you haven't looked before. We both know that we're both straight. I think it's sweet that you try to hide it for me, but we've been following this guy through the last two aisles of the frozen food section already." Kira didn't know what to say and clammed up. She felt that she should be apologizing over and over for doing this in the first place, but at the same time she was trying to ignore that the guy had made her very wet and her nipples were already about to poke through her bra. She turned to look back at Dianne and hoped that she could find the words to say that would fix this mistake that she had fallen into. Dianne wasn't saying anything. Now she was watching the guy. "You're looking at him too," she said accusingly. "Of course I am sweetie. I said he had a great ass. I guess the two of us have the same taste in men," Dianne continued. "He looks like he really was a gym rat before the Shift," she said absently. "I wonder if he still is?" Then Dianne got an mischievous look on her face. "Kira do you love me?" she said suddenly. "Of course I do. More than anything," Kira shot back immediately. "Do you trust me? I mean really trust me?" she asked. "You know I do," Kira said. "Then follow my lead and back me up. No questions asked," she said. Dianne started pushing the cart faster. Kira gulped a little and just followed as close as she could without saying anything. Dianne came up behind the guy until she could see what he had in his cart. Mostly a lot of frozen dinners and some canned stuff. Single person's shopping list she said to herself. As good as they thought the backside looked the front was just as good in her opinion. She felt her heart flutter. Kira may be the impulsive one most of the time, but today it was going to be her. She pulled even with his cart. "Hey," she said to the man as he suddenly jerked his head toward her at hearing someone address him. "What's your name?" Dianne asked his sweetly. "It's Krystal," he answered. "Well Krystal, I'm Dianne and that sexy black woman right behind me is my husband Kira," she said. "Ok, hi I guess," he said. "Krystal we want to make you a really nice dinner tonight," she said. "Well thanks for the offer, but why?" he said. "Because after dinner we both want to have you for dessert," she said to him giving him a really slow sensual wink. Krystal looked at the both of them, his jaw dropped slightly at the unexpected offer. Dianne looked back at him. "At the same time," she said. Kira couldn't believe Dianne was doing this. She had stayed quiet half out of shock that she had even had the thought. But when Krystal nodded his head and said okay, all she could think about was how wet the idea was making her and she hoped that Dianne was feeling exactly the same way. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Year 1 A.S. Day 91 Kira rolled over in the bed when the morning light managed to wake her up. She was curled under Krystal's arm. She looked over his chest and saw that Dianne was already awake and watching her. "Good morning sexy," she said to her. "How long have you been up?" Kira asked. "Not long," she answered. "But I've been watching you the whole time." Dianne reached across Krystal's still sleeping form to caress Kira's cheek. "Let's not wake him just yet," she said softly and started to slip out of the bed. Kira wiggled out from under his arm as gently as she could as well and looked back a little relieved that they had managed to pull it off without waking Krystal up. She followed Dianne out of the bedroom and down the hall. Halfway down Dianne suddenly turned and embraced Kira smothering her mouth with her kiss. Kira felt their bare breasts pressing against each other and she closed her eyes while Dianne cupped her face and kissed her. She was halfway through it before the thought occurred to her that she was the one with her mouth open and Dianne was kissing her like a man would. She felt Dianne's tongue over her own and pulled her against her. She was still straight, but right now she was happier feeling Dianne's body against her this way. Dianne broke the kiss and flicked her tongue up to playfully lick Kira's nose. Dianne slipped out of Kira's arms and started leading her to the living room. She sat down on the couch and tucked her legs beneath her. Kira sat down beside her. "So how did you like it sweetie?" she said. "And don't you dare say it was ok. I want the truth from you." Kira looked at her wife and decided she would do just that. "It was fantastic. My nipples are getting hard just thinking about it and my pussy is still throbbing from what he did last night." "Me too sexy," Dianne said to her. "Mine feels the exact same way. I needed that as much as you did last night." She reached for Kira to pull her to lie close with her on the couch. "And I needed to feel you with me while I did it," she whispered. Kira felt their legs intertwine on the couch. She kissed her. "I've missed making love to you," she whispered. "Me too baby," Dianne whispered back. "Ok, so what happens now," Kira said. "It was great, I loved every second of it and I want to do it again, but now it's time for you to spill. Why did you even do it?" Dianne pressed Kira close to her until she could feel her face nestled just above one of her breasts and the other one resting on Kira's. "I thought of it as soon as I said we had the same taste in men," she said. "I realized that you would never ask me to do that, you're still too much of the loyal husband to make that suggestion even though you were practically raping him with your eyes last night. And I just had the thought that if we both had the same man, then it was something we were doing for us and maybe we could be with each other that way if we did." "I am so glad you had that thought," Kira whispered. "But we have a problem now," she said. "What's that?" Dianne asked. "We still owe Krystal a meal. We never got around to doing that for him last night." "Do you think he'd mind if we just give him more dessert?" Dianne whispered back to her and stroked her hands down Kira's back. "Sounds pretty good to me," Krystal said from the edge of the couch. The two women looked up at him where he was standing naked at the end of the couch leaning against the wall. "Which one darlin'?" Kira said as sexily as she could. They both untangled themselves and let him gather them into a double embrace. Dianne leaned up and nibbled his ear. "Why don't you choose which one you want first," she said. Krystal kissed first Kira and then Dianne. "Decision's, Decision's," he said feeling both of them begin kissing him back.

Wish Shift Dreamscapes

Wish shift: Dreamscapes 1 A.S. Day? The first thing I noticed was the reek all of the flowers. The smell of them made the air noxious with their scent. It surrounded me and seemed like it was impregnating even my clothes. It was in my hair and lingered like a thick blanket in my nose and mouth. It was sweet and warm. I could feel soft satin covering me entirely except for my hands. My fingers are bare. I wondered where it came from. I didn't own anything in satin. But it's here now,...

Wish Shift: Chapter Twenty One The Sand Between Her Toes Year 1 A.S. Day 115 "Hang on I want to ask Derek if he can get away," she said. Jenny quickly dialed Derek and talked to him for a few minutes and then hung up. "Derek can't come," she said obviously disappointed. "He can't get away from the shop today. If you had given us more notice he probably could have," she said turning back to packing her beach bag. Kira glanced at Dianne. She'd noticed the us in that sentence...

Wish Shift Pathways

Wish Shift: Chapter Eight Pathways Year 1 A.S. Day 46 Jenny heard the car pull into her lot in the dim glow of light just before dawn. She had been up until almost midnight the night before and had needed to rush to the toilet sometime in the early morning hours to deal with a bout of morning sickness. Those had been coming less frequently this last week and she was starting to hope that she may be close to parting ways with this particular aspect of being a woman soon. Leaning...

Wish Shift Adjustments

Wish Shift: Adjustments 1 A.S. Day 147 When Derek got out of the shower, he was still half in amazement at Jenny. He toweled himself dry and wrapped the damp towel around himself. He figured he might as well make the bed after he put some clothes on. He really wanted to do something nice for Jenny today, but right now he couldn't think of what it should be. He found himself thinking about what she had told him about Sonya and that brought him back to last night and what she said to...

Wish Shift Tabula Rasa

Wish Shift : Chapter Ten Tabula Rasa Year 1 A.S. Day 56 Before they went to Dr. Waverly's, Kira and Dianne took her to get a couple of new sets of clothes. Jenny had already apologized to them for being angry with how they reacted to her risking herself and the twins, but there were still some dark feelings swimming around them. She was still out of sorts herself as well. She was wearing the last of her inherited bras and in the last couple of days it had been much too tight for...

Wish Shift Template

Wish shift: Chapter Six Template Year 1 A.S. Day 45 Danny had just finished sliding the last of the cubed potatoes off of the cutting board into the pot of boiling water. She glanced across the kitchen at Sam. She was slicing tomatoes and laying them out on the split loaf of Italian bread over the lettuce. Danny reached for an onion and started dicing it. Danny was more than a little proud of Sam the last couple of weeks. Jenny coming home had been a good influence on her in some...

Wish Shift Revelations

Wish Shift: Chapter Twelve Revelations Year 1 A.S. Day 65 Sam looked around the outside dining area at Java Jolts. "You know I don't usually go to places like this," she said. The outside area was pretty simple, just some small white painted metal tables with some white wicker chairs around them. The tables were pulled up close to the plate glass of the front window and on the edge of the sidewalk there were some planters with greenery spilling over the concrete sides. "I know,"...

Wish Shift Two By Moonlight

Wish Shift: Chapter Eighteen Two By Moonlight Year 1 A.S. Day 92 Jenny slowed the truck down and stopped. The little ticket booth at the gate had peeling white paint on its wooden walls and there were a few scattered weeds growing at the base of the small building. Jenny leaned out of the window slightly and handed over the twenty-five dollar admission to the sixty year old man who was bouncing up and down to whatever was on his I phone between cars. He took her money and she...

Wish Shift: Chapter Thirty-Nine The Fire That Burns You Year 1 A.S. Day 209 Day 254 of Jenny's pregnancy Sleep was constantly avoiding coming to her. Between her now frequent trips to the bathroom, the movement of the twins and the pain from the various parts of her body, it was a wonder that she got any sleep at all. And that was before she even factored in the emotional toll of the last few days. The rage that had been released when the full scope of what had been done to...

Wish Shift Reunion

Part One The Winter of her Heart Wish Shift: Chapter One Reunions 1 A.S. Day 32 She was still trying to sleep. It wasn't her first international trip. The problem was, even with all of the shades down on the windows, you could still see the outline of daylight around them. This made it difficult for her to get relaxed even in ordinary circumstances. Her only consolation this trip was that, for once, the seat was roomy enough. But considering what made that extra room...

Sometime after four p.m., when Kira and Jenny were lighting the charcoal in the small portable grill, Kira's phone started ringing. While Jenny busied herself with using the hand cranked fan to get the coal bed well fired, Kira answered it and started laying out the directions to where they were. Wish Shift: Chapter Fifteen Intake Year 1 A.S. Day 86 Brother Paul sat in the comfortable leather chair in his office. He had striven for the impression of a manager's office rather than something more exalted like the head of a corporation. The lessons she had been getting from mom when he came down to visit and all the practice she had recently was starting to really pay off. Dancing On Daddys Shoes Chapter 7 Breaking Point

Chapter 7 Breaking Point For the rest of the weekend Kim was sullen and out of sorts. The bombshell that the old man had laid on her had exploded in her brain with deadly accuracy, destroying any optimism Kim may have hoped to have later on. As far as she could see, life as she understood it was over. Failure to execute a successful plan to just get she and Ben to the prom to unlock the mask seemed too great. What little had already changed to make that difficult could be made so...

The Great Shift Healing Hands

The Great Shift: Healing Hands By Johnny Girl ([email protected]) I stared down at my hands. My hands. I still had trouble believing they were really mine. They were long and slender and delicate and feminine, wearing rings and bracelets, the fingers tipped with sparkly purple fingernail polish. These weren't the hands I was familiar with. They weren't the rough and strong and calloused hands I'd been so dependent on; they were weak and soft and smooth and small and useless...

The Great Shift Summers End

The Great Shift - Summer's End By Limbo's Mistress "Dad, I'm home," a voice from the front of the house called right before I heard the slam of the front door. Then she walked over to the opposite side of the counter and leaned against it, grabbing an apple from...

* Warning, this story uses the events that happened on Sept. 11, 2001 as a loose model in trying to give a feel of the carnage that'd happens during a massive calamity. If you feel this depiction is too traumatizing in bringing up memories, or if you have PTSD issues, you may not want to read ths story.* The Great Shift (Origins) I like many have enjoyed many a story of the fun and mayhem of that fateful day that the world was turned on it's ear, and many a men had to learn...

The Great Shift The Empty Place Inside Part 1 of 2 revised

The Great Shift: The Empty Place Inside by BlueshifTG Part 1 The straps were loosened on the black 1" heel shoes tumbled under the desk. One stockinged foot was on the floor, the other unsteadily balanced on the plastic trash can; the position pulled the leather skirt tight above the green-nailed fingers that absent-mindedly rubbed a spot on the outside of the right knee. The Wish Shift Part One The Winter of Her Heart

The Wish Shift Prologue Year 1 A.S. Day 16 The office had very little decoration. A couple of framed prints on the walls of mountains that could be from anywhere in the western U.S. but existed only in the printmaker's imagination. There were no family pictures on the desk's surface so the young Chinese woman who was presently sitting in one of the two chairs facing the desk knew that this was no one's actual office. It was just an interrogation room. Small, windowless and...

The Great Shift Summers End Part 2

Once upon a time, I used to be the type of guy who firmly believed women could never get ready on time because they could never decide what to wear. I mean, what guy hasn't watched any number of sitcoms or romcoms where the husband/boyfriend continually looks at his watch, becoming more and more exasperated and impatient, while his darling dear tries on an entire wardrobe's worth of clothing? No matter how relaxed the dress code of the event they are attending, the woman has to make...

The Great Shift - Summer's End (Part 4) by Limbo's Mistress Tyrone began to stir about three minutes before the police arrived. I noticed it first, the twitch of the fingers of his left hand. The Great Shift The Empty Place Inside part 2 of 2

The Great Shift: The Empty Place Inside by BlueshifTG Part 2 The young woman opened her eyes. What she saw was all white, slowly resolving into different shades of white, and two corners. That was the extent of it: three walls. Part of it was different, yellow, that's it, with some sort of pattern--a curtain. On the other side, a door. In the corner, high, a box. A mouth, a speaker, no, a camera; a...
