I listed everything from cash register placement to color schemes; larger changing rooms to better lighting. I turned it in with a small sketch of the new floor plan, and went home for the weekend. I had been letting my hair grow out, and now it was long enough to be styled into a pageboy style, so I had an appointment for the next morning at a local salon. That was a no brainer, and I was surprised that he didn't know the answer already. "Women do 80% of the shopping, men 20%. More women are working now and their needs are different. They want stylish well made clothes at reasonable prices. By upgrading our clothing lines to the next level of quality we will attract a clientele that has not only the money to spend, we will no longer be in competition with outlet stores or the chain outlets. These women will want larger changing rooms, with triple mirrors and good lighting. Moving the cash register and making it more openly placed also will reduce our losses because the staff will be in the open. I also would like to add that we should have a single person running the cash register. She would be trained in every aspect of that job and should have the authority to make judgments on prices, returns, and so on. We also have only one place to look for a loss." He sat there while I outlined every other point in my report. "This is excellent work Joyce. Excellent! There is one other thing I have to ask you about." I just knew what it was going to be, and I was right. " Jack tells me that you are actually a man. Is that right?" "Yes. I am a crossdresser, and came here one Saturday to shop, and he showed me the tape of me in the store when he asked me to take this job. He knew about my dressing up, and told me that he wanted me to take this job, and I agreed. As far as I can see, we both got what we wanted. Your sales have gone up 3 points and losses have been reduced to less than 2% of sales. I think I have done what he asked me to." I was in it now, so I went on. "Is there a problem sir? That means that Denise will take over as your replacement while you work with the architects and contractors to make the women's department fit your vision. A Level 7 made $80,000 a year, had a car, and a lot of perks like stock options. We all shook hands, and when I walked out of the office, Gail, his secretary, showed me to my new office. I walked around a little and then used the phone to call Denise. I asked her to come to my new office, and told her that she had been promoted to manager, went over the benefits with her, shook her hand, and settled in. In a few hours my secretary showed up. I settled into my new duties, and of course my wardrobe increased. Even thought I had more responsibility, I now had every weekend off, and Elaine and I started going places together, and we grew very close, so close in fact that she had, on a few occasions, changed at my place, stripping naked while I was in the room. She had a magnificent shape, but I began to become envious of her. She had breasts, I didn't. She could sleep with her guy and I could not. The more I thought about that, the more I wanted to be more like her. She had come over, planning to spend the weekend at my place, helping me redecorate, and was in the bedroom changing when she saw me watching her. It took about 6 months, but I began to develop breasts and wider hips, and during this time I began to have my beard removed. I worked with the architects, and all of the contractors, watching as my department was changed to reflect my mental image of a quality department. By the time the project was done I no longer wore the breastforms or fanny pads, and now had a natural figure of my own. Bill wanted me to spend some time with him at his condo up north, but if I went with him, he would discover my deepest secret. Being afraid to lose him that way, I asked Elaine to meet me for lunch. If he cares about you at all he'll understand." I was really scared when I called him, asking if he could stop by. When I told Elaine that I was going to tell him, she offered to be there, but I said no, because this was between the two of us. I was wearing my best casual outfit when I let him into the apartment. "Bill, I have something to tell you. It might shock you, and you might even hate me for it, but we can't go on like this." I drew in a deep breath, and told him. "I am an anatomical male. I have been living as a woman for a long time now, but I am still a man where it counts. I love you, and really wanted to tell you before, but I was so scared that I just could not do it." I sat across the room waiting for a response, my eyes wet with tears, knowing that he would just leave. He just sat there and looked at me, which was even scarier! "Joyce, I've known that for a along time. That's why I never tried to go beyond what you wanted." I was the one that was stunned now! "Just how did you know?" I asked. "Easy. Every now and then you would use mannerisms and act like a man would. Not often, but every now and then it would happen, like when you're mad. And occasionally you had a very slight trace of beard. Nobody would ever see it unless they were very close, which we have been. I didn't say anything because, or maybe despite that, you are still a fun woman to be with, and in every other respect you are as much a woman as any other I have ever met. I thought at first I was gay, but I knew I wasn't, so it had to be you, the woman that attracted me, and the fact that we had a few obstacles to get over seemed minor at the time. Now that we have cleared the air, do you want to go with me on a short vacation?" I wanted to cry, yell, and jump in his lap, all at the same time, and I did! He held me tight and stroked my hair as I cried on his shoulder. Without a word he carried me to the bedroom and we discovered just how much of a woman I was. I was enough. I think both of us lost our innocence that day, coming to terms with my condition, and overcoming it. He was there the next day when Elaine called me to ask how it went. I told her. Her parents had seen me that first day in the restaurant, but had never said a word about it and I assumed that they did not recognize me, but they had. After Bill had left, Elaine stopped by and asked me to join her for lunch at her parents home. I was unsure how they would take it, but she assured me that I would be accepted as I was, so I changed into a nice afternoon dress and we drove over. I followed Elaine into the house, and was immediately greeted by my Aunt, Gretchen. "Joyce! How nice to meet you at last! We have been wondering when you would come over." I stood there waiting for the other shoe to drop so to speak. That meant her Father. Hank looked at me and smiled, took my hand and pulled me to him, giving me a big hug! "Come in, both of you. Let's go in the familyroom." Once we were seated, Gretchen told me that they had known about me long before they saw me in the restaurant. "Your Mother also knew Joyce. It was Elaine that decided that it was time to let you discover yourself, and we are so glad that you are so happy now, and Elaine, I'm sure, has told you how much she always wanted a sister, and now she has one!" I had not expected this kind of response, and I felt tears in my eyes. I reached for a tissue just as she came over and hugged me again. "We are what we are Joyce and there is no need to be ashamed of it. I understand that you have been promoted at work several times since you started living as a woman, so obviously it doesn't matter to your employer, you're happy, Elaine is happy, and now we want you to become a bigger part of our lives. Can you do that?" I hung on her every word, every syllable. After my parents died I was alone, very alone, and now, I had a man that loved me, a sister, and a family! I was so overwhelmed that I couldn't speak, and the tears rolled down my face freely as I understood at last that she had said. We had a wonderful afternoon, and my vacation with Bill, well, it was a prelude to our marriage, which took place within the year. Elaine of course was the maid of honor, and Denise was my bridesmaid. I am complete now, something I never envisioned so long ago. I never knew my life would turn out this way, nor did I plan it this way. It just happened, but I knew the moment I was dressed to go out with Elaine that my life had changed, and I'm so glad Elaine was there to help me, every step of the way.
