Matt was taken aback by Vince's offer, it was almost like a dream to
him. There was no warning, no way to alert him that he was going to be
promoted, no indication that his hard work was paying off. Vince was
Vince and his word was law, Matt Simpson had been promoted from the Next
Evolution Wrestling roster to Global Championship Wrestling main roster.
He thanked Vince and walked off, needing time to comprehend how his life
had just changed with the stroke of a pen from Vince. He got changed
into his street clothes and stood in the Gorilla Position as the ladies
had a battle royal to determine the #1 contender for the NEW Women's
Championship. He felt jealous that he couldn't be out there with them,
but the feeling passed as he saw Ara?a give her all and put up a fight
until the end in a losing effort.
The ladies celebrated Tanya's victory, with her buddy/tag partner Anya
showing a bit of jealousy that was really keeping in character for their
budding storyline of being, "Frienemies" and likely to face off in the
future as their tag team imploded. Matt congratulated them all and
enjoyed a night of fun as the ladies celebrated a fun night for all. The
match of the night turned out to be Matt's match, with their own battle
royal being second to it while the other matches were a distant third.
Matt revealed to them that he had gotten the call-up from Vince himself,
with King Reign being put in his place and put on notice that he wasn't
going to be allowed to do his usual antics anymore. There was a cheer
from all of them, with Tanya and Anya hugging him while Ara?a wished him
luck as he was going to need it. He countered that King needed it more,
he got a huge dose of reality and was in a world of trouble to the point
that he might actually be fired by his own father-in-law.
The ladies laughed at that and went back to celebrating at their hotel
rooms while Matt was told to head to the conference room to talk with
the GCW writing staff and producers. The writers were in a state of
panic when he entered, their own battle royal was suffering from King's
usual temper tantrum over Matt being around leading to him pulling out
and getting some of the surprise entrants to go with him. Matt was
expected to add his input but he sat back and let them show to Vince
just how bad they were if they didn't have someone who knew what they
were doing overseeing them.
Vince looked at Matt who nodded, to which Vince told the group, "You are
being too clever. You have a bunch of guys sitting around doing nothing
except publicity. Use the NEW guys to fill-in. If the Hall of Famers
don't want to do it then the youngsters will. The guys who weren't
involved tonight are free, use them to fill the ranks and give a
stronger match. I know fans want them there, it'll get a major pop."
They had a bunch of interest from some of the fringe veterans, most of
whom were in town sponging off of the GCW's presence to line their
depleted pockets, Vince looked to Matt who was going over the list and
saw who he had circled and laughed. He had found some of the best
gimmicks they had done 20 to 30 years before and had them itching for a
chance to shine again. All Vince had to do was get the money ready for
their fees and they'd have a full roster plus alternates.
The planned title bout was changed from a no-decision to being a
pinfall, with the champion winning it clean. It was also moved from the
main event, with the battle royal being removed as a way of getting the
contender back into the main event at WrestleCade. Matt's notes were
what Vince had in mind, they needed a new contender since the current
one was one of King's choices and he was coasting by based on his
relationship with King yet saw little character development and abysmal
merchandise sales.
The writers worked furiously while Matt helped craft the next month of
TV shows alongside them. He was purposely keeping himself out of the
action and had himself doing the jobber matches to draw heat for the
heels but Vince turned it around on him. Matt was filling a need, he was
a new face that could be a counter to the current mid-card heels while
working his way up the roster.
Vince had to convince Matt to accept his fate and be part of the
program, with Matt giving in to the need to appease Vince and help the
GCW. Matt thought things over and told Vince to continue what he had
been involved in with NEW: the underdog who is climbing the ranks and
winning thanks to heels who were overconfident and who would draw heat
and put Matt over without trying. It was simple, yet was something that
fans liked and the 15,000+ fans at the arenas GCW worked in would eat up
quickly.
Vince liked the idea, especially as it gave Matt time on each show while
giving the heels a chance to be put in their place by the fans while
also allowing the heels to build on the loss as they clawed their way
into the title scene indirectly. It was a tough job to hold down but
Matt had the right characteristics to do the job. Matt had something
going for him that others didn't: he was genuinely versatile and needed
little writing support as he could be used without any set-up nor
follow-up to the matches.
Matt refused the invitation to compete in the battle royal, instead
opting to wrestle in a pre-show match that gave him a soft introduction
and allowed the heel doing the challenge to start down a feud with one
of the babyfaces that congratulated Matt after his victory. It was going
to be a fun moment as the heel went after the two only to have them step
aside, have the heel fall down, then do a joint takedown maneuver that
set the heel up for the babyface's finisher. It was quick, but the crowd
would love it.
The night was interesting as he put on Taylor's clothes and enjoyed a
calming night's sleep, holding off telling his family until later that
he was called-up by Vince. It would spoil the big surprise, his parents
would see it live but his wife and in-laws would see it from home
causing him to endure shocked and angry phone calls from Betty and her
parents while his brother-in-law Richard was bouncing off the walls with
excitement. He finally had what he hoped to have, his brother-in-law was
competing in the GCW and was by default the coolest older brother in the
entire Orlando area.
The match itself was pretty straightforward, Matt endured the dirty
tricks such as weapons and illegal strikes before getting his opening as
the guy he was facing gloated. He hit a pop-up enzuigiri that stunned
him then performed his normal frankensteiner then climbed the ropes for
his 450 corkscrew frog splash leading to him pinning the prone opponent.
His opponent tried to fight it but it was too little too late as Matt
scored the pinfall and led to the entire arena laughing hard at the heel
for his arrogance.
Matt got congratulated by Garnet Houston Pete, the #3 babyface in GCW
allowing Matt to have some pop from the crowd while the heel whined
about kicking out despite it being a clean 3-count. Pete let him
complain then saved Matt from being struck from behind leading to the
feud beginning and Matt getting over with the fans. The two hit the
finishing move and had the crowd roaring with cheers as the new guy
enjoyed the spotlight while the veteran got his chance to be part of the
show in another way while also participating in the later battle royal.
Matt and Pete left to Matt's music playing, a piece he had helped put
together back when he was only 12 and done during a morning when the
crew was ahead of schedule and their resident composer was at the arena.
It was a clear sign from Vince that Matt was part of GCW in full as it
was Vince who had not only approved of the music but kept it saved all
of those years.
Backstage, Matt endured the wrestling press as he talked about his first
match in GCW and how he felt about coming up through the ranks so fast.
Matt happily told them all, "It was fast, but I've been part of the
wrestling business since birth. Like so many others, it's in my blood.
Unlike others, my parents are in the back helping put together shows. I
got to see all aspects of the business and took part in many of them at
a young age. I've been in the crowd, produced matches, written
storylines, and done a lot of the small work for GCW. It's a dream to
perform for GCW, helping is just so different from performing."
His answers were sensations as social media went wild at the born-and-
raised GCW brat was now part of the company. His family's connections to
the GCW were well documented so the only real shock was that claim that
he had produced and written matches. Stacy Turner happily pointed to
just a few of the GCW matches that she could recall off of the top of
her head, with Matt's favorite wrestler, the ever popular Impossible, in
his first championship match being his biggest success so far.
King Reign tried to quell the talk about Matt and flat out denied him
ever working any of the matches that were claimed. His refusal to talk
about Matt further fueled speculation that it wasn't a work and that
Matt did actually do what was claimed. King grew angry and refused to
answer any questions, he claimed he wanted to focus on that night and
not on the past but it was clear that he had a strong dislike for the
new guy and there in itself was yet another story that would be looked
into.
The matches that night were run of the mill as King was putting all of
his attention into the main event. The battle royal was setting-up the
championship match but having it go before the main event upset his
plans for having his choice become champion while Vince exerted his
authority over everyone and left the matches where they were and
scrapped King's plans in favor of Matt's ideas. King walked out of the
show, going unnoticed by fans but going on a tirade on social media over
the matches being the worst matches he had ever seen in his life.
Fans thought that it was all a work, while Vince shook his head and told
the writing staff to prepare a new feud that had King facing off against
Matt at Wrestlecade. It was going to be King's farewell, he had finally
pissed Vince off enough to get written out of GCW and out of the company
for good. Vince called his corporate lawyer and had a preemptive strike
ready to go just in case King went overboard and tried to do something
to the GCW before they were ready, with King set to lose all of what he
had accumulated as husband to Stacy when he finally stepped over the
line and intentionally tried to harm the GCW and struck against Matt.
In a private meeting during the women's championship, Vince had his
legal team go over the company's rules regarding indecent behavior
especially regarding gay and transgender employees. Matt was not a
fulltime employee but his additional pay as a producer counted as him
being an employee, thus he fell under the rules for conduct should King
try to play dirty and air Matt's dirty laundry. He would not be the
least bit afraid to go after Matt's being transgender especially if it
hurt the company.
Vince told them firmly, "King Reign will go after Matt Simpson. Matt is
a fully diagnosed transgender woman, thus is covered under our HR code
of conduct. If he uses that against Matt, invoke his poison pill and
destroy him financially. Stacy will divorce him and take everything: the
house, the kids, his shares in the company, and his seat on the board of
directors. Matt Simpson is family, King isn't."
He turned his attention toward the upcoming battle royal and looked over
the list of entrants and shook his head at some of them. He saw a couple
of the retirees and removed one from the event. The man's health wasn't
the best and as much as Vince would have loved to have him in it just
for the pop it would give the man wasn't going to do much and might hurt
himself when he landed after being eliminated.
He moved the retiree onto commentary, giving the lovable longtime heel
Killer Gagne his spotlight and allowing him to offer his unfiltered
opinions about some of the wrestlers competing. Matt was inserted in his
place, giving Matt yet another chance to be part of the fun while also
allowing him to have a big introduction to the wrestling world as his
style could be put to use during the middle and later part of the match.
Killer's connection to Matt was going to be a shock to viewers at home,
but the man was going to do more for Matt than any other person could-
all by being given a chance to speak openly.
Matt was told to get dressed again, then told that he was going to be
the last to enter the ring as he was put into the spotlight again as the
last to enter was always a mystery per tradition. When he did enter,
Killer lost it and was cheering loudly to the point that he was at a
loss for words and had tears in his eyes. He offered Matt a hug as Matt
circled the ring, wishing him good luck over an open mic that was caught
by all including the other commentators.
The other commentators were shocked to see that kind of reaction, but
Killer happily told them, "Matt Simpson is one of the finest young
athletes ever to set foot in a ring and one of the best students that I
ever had. His abilities will be on display here as he does everything
possible to stay alive in the match. He could win this easily if he is
careful, you never underestimate a man of his size. Never."
The match was your normal melee battle that saw the lower-card wrestlers
tossed out one by one by the mid and upper-card wrestlers. Matt was able
to battle off attacks and managed to earn three separate eliminations by
using his body and momentum of his opponents to flip them over the top
rope. Matt wasn't expected to last long but he endured a while as the
crowd was loving his moves and was making others look better as they
wisely avoided him or accepted his moves and countered them.
He lasted into the top 8 but was finally eliminated by three heels from
the same stable as they played possum on the ring floor and pulled Matt
down while he was about to perform a move on the apron. It was a dirty
move but got the crowd to give the stable heat and give the remaining
wrestlers in the ring to go after them in a unified effort. It was just
what the match needed, with the final five battling it out in a brawl
that lasted a solid 10 minutes and saw them wearing each other down
until one finally gave the final elimination to win the match.
The performance of the new guy stole the match, but it was worth it in
the eyes of the others as he gave the match the perfect pop that it
needed and led to the main event match being given the excitement it
needed as the winner was facing off against the winner of the battle
royal at the next pay-per-view, with the match being a much-anticipated
match-up instead of an average match-up. Matt was surrounded in the
locker room with the wrestlers showing him respect and their thanks,
especially the heel stable as they were set up for a great run against
the top babyfaces due to their actions. It wasn't much to Matt, it was
all of them doing their best to sell the anger and frustration which he
had nothing to do with.
The championship match was a snoozer as far as Matt was concerned. He
didn't see any attempts to sell the moves and the two involved were too
arrogant to take a clean pinfall. Vince shook his head at the antics and
told Matt, "You called it. If we went with the original plans this feud
would have gone on for too long and cost fans' attention. The main event
at Wrestlecade would have been a disaster and saw them turning on us
again. The new feud is better, the champ is losing his title at
Wrestlecade. He's done as champion, you don't no-sell in a 'big four'
pay-per-view just to keep your title."
Back in his hotel room, Matt finally answered his phone and endured
Betty's anger at him keeping his being part of the pay-per-view a
secret. He let her vent then softly explained that he couldn't refuse an
offer from Vince. She understood, but it still stung that he didn't tell
her that he got the call-up.
The next phone calls were from his in-laws, but it was Richard's
enthusiasm that caused him to cringe as he told Matt just how awesome it
was that he was going to be on TV every week and that he had just had a
Hall of Famer giving him a huge boost. Richard was talking as a fan and
as his brother-in-law and was giving him an earful as he wasn't afraid
to hold back when Matt needed to hear things. Matt let the 17-year-old
have his way and after he finally calmed down, told him, "It wasn't
planned. I was put in there because Killer Gagne was too sick to
perform. I was only moved up because Vince needed to do some last minute
changes and has all but run King Reign off from GCW."
Matt didn't mean to tell him that, but it came out too quickly to take
back. Richard demanded that he tell him what happened, so Matt added,
"King tried to ruin the battle royal by having guys in his pocket pull
out but Vince countered by putting in the retirees. It's why so many
were involved, it wasn't part of the plan. He tried to interfere with
the main event and have his guy lose then come into the battle royal but
that was scrapped when Vince moved it to the main event. King's plans
are shot to heck, the whole of the staff is on edge and rewriting
everything. I'm not involved in any of that, I'm only doing the mid-
carders for now. It's why I was on the preshow, I set up the feud with
Garnet Houston Pete."
Richard was satisfied then told Matt, "You better get to bed, Taylor
needs her beauty sleep." Matt gave him an angry groan but it was his way
of telling him that he'd need time to himself to let things settle. He
was happy for his brother-in-law, but he needed Taylor to have a good
night's sleep.
Taylor went to sleep with a smile on her face. She didn't bother with
makeup, she didn't need it and it wasn't worth the effort. She slept
better that night than she had in a while, waking up only when the phone
in her room rang and told her that she was needed down in the breakfast
room by Vince.
She showered and got dressed as Matt, with Matt carefully hiding
Taylor's things as he got ready to check out. Matt walked out and was
stopped by Vince, who told him to head back upstairs as he was needed
the next two nights as he would be helping revamp the two shows while
performing that night. Matt didn't argue, he went back to the room,
dropped his suitcase, then went back downstairs to talk.
The two talked for a while, plotting how the shows would go while Stacy
sat silently as she awaited her cue to talk about the women's title
picture and the storyline for them. The trio hammered out a simple yet
believable road to Wrestlecade, abandoning some of the unnecessary
swerves and weird turns that had been planned but made no sense while
adding in some ancillary feuds that would feed into the pay-per-views
that were in-between that night and Wrestlecade.
After four hours, they had a framework for how to do things which were
then sent off to the writers to set the matches, dialogue, and promos.
Matt's own matches were glossed over, he wasn't scheduled for any feuds
and was kept out of any of the storylines in case he needed to be
inserted due to injury. He was fine doing that, his matches were meant
to be filler and keeping him free meant that he was able to be with them
in the Gorilla Position so they could rework the matches as they were in
progress.
Matt's closeness to Vince made the rounds of the wrestlers, with those
who didn't know being told the truth while those who did know were happy
to extol the virtues of being a "company man" like Matt and having the
clout and history of success to be able to tell Vince that he was wrong
to do things the way he might be trying to go. It was a great honor to
tell Vince how to do something, and if you were at that level of trust
you were someone whose voice had to be listened to. King wasn't at that
level, yet the younger Matt was virtually telling Vince word for word
how to conduct the show that night.
Matt did the whole thing over again the next night, only this time he
did it alongside Vince and did so as his #2 in place of King. King went
straight home after getting booted by Vince, with Stacy telling Vince
that he's with his mistress so he should be doing fine. Vince nodded and
gave her the unspoken agreement that their time together was over, Stacy
had chosen family over her husband.
Matt paid the King situation no heed, doing Vince a solid by doing
Vince's job while he spoke with Stacy. He was good at it and had the
announcing team on their toes as he tossed them lines to speak. He had
an eye for good one-liners, letting the team get some great ones as they
described the action.
After the Tuesday show, he was finally able to head home. Vince had him
assured that he had a place in the show and wouldn't have to do too many
house shows, Matt caught his drift and was able to get the needed money
together to buy an RV like he had planned. He wasn't the only person
doing that, it was actually something that the superstars who were
afraid of flying did to get around the country.
The kids embraced Matt as soon as he opened the door and wanted to know
what's going on. Betty had them go back to playing then asked the same
thing, only not letting him give her any kind of excuses. He sat her
down, then happily told her, "He gave me a few days to get things in
order. I have a couple of RVs ready to look at, we just have to withdraw
Vinny from school so we can head on out."
Betty wasn't too happy but knew this would happen sooner or later. She
had her official resignation from the hospital she worked at ready to
go, now she had to do some finagling with Vinny's school but it wasn't
anything serious. She kissed him and told him that she was proud of him,
this was what he had wanted his entire life and now he was going to live
it to its fullest.
Taylor spent the week relaxing as she worked on Matt's affairs, finding
a new RV that was able to be written off thanks to help from the family
lawyer and her father-in-law Jerry's help. Betty's resignation wasn't
received well but the fact that she had worked continuously for two
years and had banked eight weeks of vacation days there was little that
they could do. She was owed quite a bit of money for those vacation
days, which she happily sold back to them and got a bonus of having them
compensate her for the amount of work she had done due to their cutbacks
in staffing due to clerical errors.
Taylor stayed home with Davis while Betty withdrew Vinny, knowing that
if she had gone she would have been questioned about who she was and
what her relationship was to the kids. Betty was able to handle Vinny's
principal and teacher easily, Matt would have had trouble and if he was
recognized it would have meant a lot of unwanted attention and free
publicity that he didn't want to endure. She gave Davis undivided
attention to keep him happy, while also helping to calm herself until
Betty returned.
Matt had to return for a couple of hours so Matt could clear out his
locker at the NEW complex. It was awkward to be there while the others
were training, knowing that they were jealous of him for getting a big
jump over all of them despite only a short time with NEW. If Davis and
Vinny hadn't been with him he might have had a confrontation, but the
two were able to keep him moving and not let anyone get too close
especially with the boys' grandparents acting as escorts for the trio.
There was one person who was surprised by Matt's return. Ara?a noticed
the boys and fought for a way of asking about them, with the boys giving
her smiles as they recognized her from her training at their house with
their "Aunt Dawn" as Matt had told them to call her whenever Ara?a was
over. The two hugged her when she passed them, with Matt encouraging her
to go along with it so they get it out of their system and let her move
along again.
After finishing cleaning his locker, Matt stopped off in the producers'
offices and gave them the scripts for the call-ups and listened as they
complained about the number of changes needed to allow for the few who
were leaving. Matt let them vent, then explained angrily, "These aren't
huge changes, these are easy swaps that don't take any rewrites. I held
back some of the biggest changes, Vince wants to get rid of half of your
guys because they are regressing or getting stale. These changes might
save their jobs. If they can't improve with the new changes then their
careers are over with NEW and GCW."
The name drop was huge. Matt then added, "This is the start of changes.
There's a lot more coming. The company is moving away from King Reign's
control so his guys aren't protected anymore."
Matt and the boys left, with the boys giving their grandparents
affection and smiling at the ladies as the father in Matt showed
strongly. Before he left he whispered into Tanya, Anya, and Ara?a's ears
and had the trio smiling brightly. They refused to tell the others what
he had told them, but all three were on the verge of tears of joy as he
left with a smirk on his face over giving them the biggest news of their
NEW careers: they were getting called up to GCW after Wrestlecade!
The boys were rambunctious at home but enjoyed a swim with Taylor while
loving having her home again. Vinny happily listened as his mom told
him, "Your mommy is going to be your new teacher. We are going to drive
around the country from now on so you won't be able to attend regular
school. In a couple of years, I'll be able to do fewer shows so mommy
and I can send you back to regular school with the kids in your class.
By that time your brother will be in school too so you won't be alone."
He cheered while Davis shrugged at the news. The boys wore Taylor out by
the time Betty returned home after her final shift at the hospital,
bringing with her cake and the thanks of the nurses. She was in tears as
she hugged Taylor, it was a sad day for her but being with the boys and
Matt/Taylor was more important than her being at a place that wore her
down.
The family took delivery of their new RV that weekend, but wouldn't be
able to use it until mid-week due to Matt needing to be in Arizona that
Monday. It was going to be his last solo trip, but it was still a big
event for him as he appeared in his televised match on the GCW's
flagship show "Monday Night Wars." He wouldn't have to be on their,
"Tuesday Lightning" show, but he would have a hand in some of the
storylines as a consultant for the producers.
Matt's first match was a rematch from the pay-per-view, with Matt
winning again and showing that his win wasn't a fluke as it was claimed
to be. The crowd gave him a huge pop and gave the heel perfect heat,
ensuring that Mat was over and on his way up. His opponent happily told
him that he had gotten him more heat than anyone else and ensured that
his feud was going to send him further up the roster than he ever would
have gone, which was the whole intent and what was best for both.
Matt went to the ring in his new t-shirt design, which was something
that he nearly cried over seeing as it was a design that he had created
back when he was a kid. It had bold colors and text that said, "Matt
Simpson: living the dream" which was what he had always told the staff
his being part of GCW was. It was tough to keep himself together, but
when he was given shirts for his own and Richard he lost it.
He flew home that night, giving his brother-in-law his own shirt and
told him that it wasn't to be given away nor lost. Richard happily wore
it to school and told anyone who would listen that it was the 3rd one
ever made causing him instant popularity while he flaunted his new
status. He enjoyed lording over the snobs and popular kids in his
school, he listened to them for years insult Matt and his pursuits so
the t-shirt was something that not only proved that they were wrong but
Matt was simply awesome.
The family's new RV was large yet not obscene. The kids had their own
"room" while there was a bit of space for Taylor's clothing. They had
special locks installed on the closets so Taylor wasn't discovered when
they were in the arena, with the kids learning to never mention Taylor
to anyone not in the family.
The trip north for the shows was fun as the kids enjoyed watching the
scenery and their own TVs as they drove. Taylor drove at times, but only
on the interstates and only after dark. Matt kept to the speed limit as
her, it was tough to not speed but it wasn't worth risking embarrassment
or being arrested.
Seeing the family arrive the night before, Vince had to let out a laugh.
Matt was a genius, he would be able to have his family with him and
enjoy the solitude to be Taylor without anyone being able to see her. He
was happy that he was taking his family seriously, too many of the
superstars were barely home and many of those who were home weren't the
best fathers to their children.
The boys were happy to see Stacy and loved meeting Vince. They put on
the "I'm a cute kid" act but he didn't fall for it, causing them to get
frustrated while Matt could only shake his head in disappointment. Stacy
introduced them to Vince and saw the kids giving Vince big hugs, causing
him to soften while doing his best to keep from appearing too soft to
the crew which they didn't buy for a second.
The trio talked shop while Betty and the boys kept quiet, with Betty
enjoying seeing Stacy being the big mother to the company and showing
just why the women's division was her baby. Matt was just like any other
writer and producer, only he enjoyed the benefit of her ear and the fact
that she was able to see his ideas for what they were and fill in the
gaps. Vince was the one who got the writers to get on things and make
the visions come true while keeping them in a prominent role in the
shows.
Matt's match wasn't much, but the storyline he was involved in was one
that had fans enjoying as the heel kept trying every excuse on the book
to explain how he lost to Matt only to see him lose three times in three
different ways. He first lost via pinfall after Matt went for a quick
pin after his opponent gloated to the crowd, then via the Muta Lock as
they restarted the match and he was again gloating, and finally via
Matt's 450 corkscrew frog splash after a frankenssteiner causing him to
angrily vow revenge but only causing him again to run afoul of his
counterpart in his feud, Garnet Houston Pete.
Taylor drove for two hours before turning in at a rest area in the next
state. She drove again the next morning, with Betty putting the boys
through school as she worked with Vinny then helped Davis try to learn
his letters and number. The drive was long but it was fun as the boys
listened to Betty and did their work while earning their reward of TV
time while Betty relaxed beside Taylor.
The foursome got into a groove of driving, stopping to enjoy time as a
family, then settling in an RV park or highway rest area. The family
driving allowed Matt to take on house shows as part of the roster and
give more matches to a few of the undercard wrestlers who could use the
exposure as they tried to stay on the roster. The shows were basic shows
that were not meant to drive any storylines but were where the non-top
tier superstars earned most of their money, letting some guys get more
paychecks.
For Matt, it was no different than the GWF, SWL, and FWA again. The guys
were the same kind from the indies, but with more money and a larger
following. Matt got along with them more than the top tier wrestlers,
most had little respect for King and were kept in place in favor of
King's buddies which Matt trying to change and was appreciated by them.
Driving to the next city often gave the family a chance to get there
before others so Taylor could enjoy a day or two with the family without
anyone knowing. She took full advantage of this by going to parks and
play places that the boys enjoyed while the couple enjoyed romantic
strolls. The two would enjoy a lot of nights of passion thanks to those
family days, with Betty happily enjoying the eroticism of the two
reigniting their passions for one another.
It was a great time for the family, with the boys doing their best to be
on their best behavior. The time went by fast as each week brought them
to a different location and different crowds. By the time of the first
pay-per-view event, the family was accustomed to life on the road and
their new routines.
The pay-per-view didn't require Matt's attendance as a wrestler, he was
there as a producer and had the role of helping the women yet again. The
ladies were reluctant to work with him but Stacy put them in line with
her force of will, explaining how he was the best person for the job.
Her orders were not to be argued, Matt was new and young but he was
respected by the producers and writers more than anyone.
The drive took a while and Matt had to fly to his next destination in
preparation for the show. Betty was able to do the driving on her own,
the boys were overtired so slept much of the day as she got only a few
hours sleep but was still used to that thanks to her hospital
experience. Matt kept Taylor from being out due to others being nearby,
but he made concessions with her panties being worn to bed.
Matt's first storyline was about to unfurl as he stepped into a feud as
a tag team partner in place of the injured champion contender allowing
him to be in the mix for his first title but also to be utilized in the
role that was tailor-made for him, that of the helper who worked with
the others but wasn't seeking the glory that they were. He had a plan of
action to allow him to wrestle the guy he was replacing when he returned
allowing him to slip into his old job while Matt went back to his normal
role. It was easy to do and required no setup, especially as the injured
wrestler was a babyface like Matt.
The match was a basic tag match, but things changed when the opponents
were in trouble due to one big botch making Matt and his teammate have
to cover for the win allowing them to advance and face the champions
while the botch was played out as an injury. Vince hated those blatant
errors and for the team that committed it, they were looking at months
toiling as jobbers for others until they earned their place back in the
top tier. Matt wasn't looking for gold, but the storyline worked for
Matt to be the tag team champion building his eventual loss of the title
to his predecessor at the next pay-per-view.
The next week, Matt won the tag team title and endured the publicity of
being a champion. He had to endure multiple hours of interviews with
major media outlets as well as annoying questions from the dirtsheets
that brought up just about everything imaginable that had nothing to do
with the titles. It was annoying and he gave answers that made the media
laugh while putting the offenders in their place, leading him to
casually tell the reporters that he was happy to answer questions from
people who were not "in bed with King Reign" which set off a firestorm
as the dirtsheets tried to deny the accusations but were shown to have
been overly friendly with King for too long to not be "on the take" with
him.
Matt's passive-aggressive responses were brilliant in Vince's eyes,
especially as it was the truth that the dirtsheet "reporters" were fed
all of their rumors by King as it made his guys look good while those he
disliked or hated looked terrible. Matt was their newest target and
would have been put in the line of fire by them until he gave them what
they wanted- ammunition against him to bury him publicly. He didn't play
along, which was infuriating them while the legitimate media got a juicy
story of their own and were about to bury the dirtsheets by exposing
their unethical style and true information source.
The title run came to an end after two weeks, with his former partner
thanking him for making it worth the swerve even if it wasn't something
anyone intended. Matt was happy to help, he had his name in the history
books and was going to live on forever even if it was just a footnote in
the duo's actual history. He was already recorded for all time on the
pay-per-views, but the title run was even stronger history.
Taylor spent much of her drives thinking about things and after hours
without speaking finally told her wife, "We need to put money aside for
a contingency. I'm making over $600,000 a year now and have a lot
banked, but I'm getting a gut feeling that something is going to happen
shortly that hurts all of us."
He had the suspicion for days as he just couldn't believe that King was
truly gone nor that King would just let his wife walk away unscathed. It
was going to be him or King soon and if she chose Matt then he might do
something to harm the GCW and Stacy, especially as he had nothing else
to lose. He was already facing a divorce over his infidelities and
mistreatment of the company, his next step was to try to hurt his family
by hurting Stacy through those she loved- their two sons and Matt.
Stacy talked with him about his future in case he had to give up
wrestling. Matt insisted on clean breaks as the pain of giving up his
dream job would be too much to take. He had a career as a doctor waiting
for him, but to continue as a producer and writer were too much to take.
Vince was left wondering what was going on. Stacy read between the lines
and told him, "He's seeing the signs. King will be back, and with dirt
on him. Taylor will be exposed to the world in a last attempt to hurt
Matt. Matt's protecting all of us, he's tossing away his future to
protect us."
Taylor was let out as much as possible but she always kept an eye open
for trouble just in case. She was in a constant state of heightened
awareness, never leaving without pepper spray nor her male ID. It was a
pain to do, but she had read too many horror stories about women like
herself and what people would do to them if they had the chance
especially overzealous deputies and police officers.
Her awareness wasn't lost on Betty. Betty tried to get her to calm
herself but seeing how people gave her a lusty leer and whispered about
seeing two women together she understood why Taylor was being so
cautious. It was a terrible situation to be in, but it was something
that they had to endure if they were going to be seen together as a
couple.
After weeks of being on edge, her fears were justified as she saw
someone following her and Betty as the two were out on the town with the
kids. The man followed them back to their RV and disappeared, but popped
up in the next city doing the same thing. She was scared of what he
might do to them, he clearly wasn't a fan and was eyeing the couple for
other reasons.
They went to a children's museum for several hours to let the boys burn
off their excess energy, only to return to find that their RV had been
broken into and Taylor's closet had been pried open. They called the
police and got a sympathetic officer, the closet was explained as being
Betty's and given that Taylor and she were so close in size it wasn't
questioned. Matt endured two hours of questioning and having their
fingerprints taken, then were told that scans came back as belonging to
a private investigator who was known to have shady practices and several
convictions for breaking and entering.
The man was arrested at his hotel the next morning, with several bags
found that belonged to the family found in the room. He was caught in a
bind and quickly gave up his employer, telling the officers that he was
hired by King Reign to get dirt on Matt Simpson and if need be ensure
that he did something to be used against him by King. King had paid him
good money to break into the RV and follow Matt, ensuring that whatever
he found was sent to him and paid for him to take the legal hit even if
it meant having a criminal record.
Matt knew the jig was up. They were on the final push towards
Wrestlecade and King was going to put him out of the GCW and the
wrestling world for good. King had nothing left to lose, when he finally
went after Matt he was doing it with the intent of making himself a
fortune- even if Matt's life was ruined in the process.
Matt called an emergency meeting with Vince, Stacy, their legal team,
and a separate meeting with the producers and head writers. This was an
all-hands issue and they needed a plan of action to get things going in
the right direction before King tried to seize power amid the chaos that
he was going to create. Vince would last but if King got enough support
from ignorant or jealous stockholders he could mount a fight to topple
the top GCW corporate staff and get himself put in charge of everything.
Vince, Stacy, and the GCW corporate and financial lawyers met with Matt
in a closed-door meeting inside Vince's suite. Matt presented the
findings from the police and was blunt in telling all of them, "It's
finally come to a head. King has enough ammunition to take out both
myself, Vince, and Stacy. He will be forcing a vote of no-confidence in
Vince's ability to run the wrestling operations and finally remove him
as head of the day to day operations. Stacy will be on the line for
allowing me to get close to the women, citing my danger to them and the
need to 'protect them from harm.' He won't stop until I am destroyed in
every form. My career isn't enough, he will go after my parents then my
wife and kids. I genuinely believe that he wouldn't be above having
Vince and Stacy murdered and make it look like an accident in order to
gain full control of the company and ensure that only his vision of it
is able to be remembered for all time."
There was an eerie silence but Vince reluctantly agreed with Matt's
beliefs. King was a dangerous man who would stop at nothing to achieve
his goals. He had already had dozens of men and women hurt to get his
way, leaving an ex-wife behind battered and stuck raising their two
children on her own while he enjoyed the fruits of her hard work and
payments to him to pay for his wrestling training.
Matt sighed then laid out his plans for what would happen and when. He
laid out who should replace him on the roster in the role of babyface
underdog and what they would be able to do in the role. He then
suggested that they bring back Impossible to give them a high-flier and
look into his son for a full father/son storyline that would give
Impossible a final run at the top while securing his son's future.
King wasn't a fool, he'd bide his time until he could hurt Matt the
most: at Wrestlecade. Matt got time at the show to make his huge coming
out announcement and steal King's thunder before he could make the move.
Matt would leave on his own terms and let King deal with the legal
issues, with Vince and the company's legal team ensuring that he lost
everything that he had.
Vince just smirked and told Matt to record everything when he came after
him during the show. King was arrogant enough to directly threaten the
Simpsons and think Matt wouldn't dare to take measures to protect
himself and show just how nasty King truly was as a person. He then set
aside time to make a formal address regarding Matt's future and just
where he stood with Matt's situation, there would be no delay nor would
there be any attempt to hide the truth- it was best to be honest with
the fans and media.
The lawyers left to hammer out the legalities while Vince ushered in the
producers and writers. He was to the point, explaining that Matt was
being forced to resign from the GCW due to actions of King and that his
storylines were to be given to others. He didn't elaborate on what was
going on, if he did they would have either intentionally or
unintentionally let the big secret out causing an issue with them that
would only cause a bigger stir that they couldn't control.
It took hours to plan the next 12 months, with Matt giving them
alternative storylines to use in case of an injury to one or more of the
mid to under-card wrestlers. He considered every angle short of a guy
being fired or suspended, but even then he had intermingled some
storylines to allow some substituting for a wrestler. He wasn't leaving
them empty-handed, he gave them more output in a day than they had been
able to create in a year combined.
Vince bowed out after an hour and went to talk in private with Stacy
about something important. It was clear that it was about Matt but he
was being rather secretive even for Vince. The Turners were closer than
most father/daughter duos, but for Vince to be acting the way he was
acting was something that was going beyond simply preparing for the
future of the GCW.
In his private bedroom in the suite, he opened an old envelope. Shedding
tears, he told her to read it twice to ensure that she understood just
what it was saying. She gasped in shock then gave her father a deep hug,
knowing that bringing that letter out was the toughest thing he ever had
to do.
She understood just why he was so close to the Simpsons and why Matt was
special to him. She swore that she would keep the contents of that
letter a secret to protect him. Vince shook his head, telling his
beloved daughter, "The truth needs to be told. King will tell the world
what's in that letter and try his hardest to ensure that my life is
shattered while he rises from the ashes. He doesn't care that it'll hurt
you and your kids, as long as he gets his way and hurts me it's worth it
to him."
Stacy just smiled and told him angrily, "You know what you have to do.
This is a family issue, King is no longer part of our family. He gave up
his right to claim to be family when he chose to sleep around on me. I
love him but family comes first- always. Taylor had it right in choosing
to fight him directly, I am not going to be upset nor will mom and bro.
Mom knows the truth, bro doesn't care. We Turners are not going to let
anyone harm us no matter how much they try."
The two walked out to where the producers and writers were finishing the
finalizing of the storylines and were told that one squash match was
scrapped and moved to the pre-show. He told them that he is taking time
in the broadcast after the match that follows Matt's announcement and
would be over and done in the same time as the match. The time lost was
needed, his request wasn't to be denied.
That night was hectic as Matt kept to himself but saw that King was
lurking outside the arena waiting for him. He alerted security who
forced King away, with King screaming that he had a right to be there
and they would pay for removing him. GCW security told the police that
he was trespassing and was not working for them so he had no right to be
there, forcing King to run off in fear of being arrested.
His RV had a note taped to it, with security telling Matt that King had
put it on the RV. Matt read it and told the security that he was keeping
it for legal reasons, then had it handed over to the GCW lawyers to be
held for safekeeping. King made a mistake, the note was the first step
in removing him from the company completely since it broke corporate
guidelines for conduct by employees of the company.
Matt's night was pretty boring as his match was filler for them as the
matches that night were going to run shorter than normal due to it being
a go-home show. It was fast-paced and featured a lot of moves, but it
wasn't anything interesting nor was it meant to be. The only thing of
note for the match was that it was one that everyone talked about as
Matt was involved in a feud-related fight during the match.
After the match, Matt drove on to the site of Wrestlecade. It was being
held that year in Boston and was going to be an, "Intimate" show
compared with the past shows due to the previous venues all being booked
or wanting too much money to host the event, but featured their hardcore
fans who pay top dollar to watch the GCW and an all-around low cost for
the company due to expenses being lower thanks to lower travel and hotel
costs. Matt was told that he had to do a lot of charity work during the
week as he was the first to arrive and had a vested interest in the
charity that GCW was assisting that year, with the charity wanting him
specifically as he had the strongest interest from the kids involved.
Matt had no idea what the charity was, the, "Finn Foundation" was
involved in a lot of different things from scholarships to mentoring
programs to drug rehab centers to helping homeless shelters to building
low-cost housing for the poor. It was something that seemed like some
rich person's pet project but the more he read online the more he saw
that the group wasn't a normal group. He found several of their biggest
projects to be heartwarming, especially the special scholarships to
transgender students.
Vince was brilliant and purposely put Matt to work as the face of GCW
for that week as only he could empathize with the children, especially
those who are transgender. He wasn't the typical choice to be their
representative, but he was the one who was the best fit. He didn't hold
a title but he was happy to be seen with children who weren't typical
children and who lived in fear of others- just like himself.
Matt met with the leaders of the Finn Foundation and was shown their
past work and what they were about to do with the kids in the groups
that they sponsored or had a strong working relationship with. The head
of the organization was a plucky young woman whose energy was
infectious, Christina Finn. She took an immediate liking to Matt as he
asked all of the right questions and showed great interest in the kids,
especially the transgender kids that the wrestlers normally shied away
from when visiting.
Christina's father-in-law was an imposing man, tall yet large and
wearing an expensive suit. If he was in a ring he might have been able
to give some of the larger GCW wrestlers a run for their money, but he
was simply fit yet not muscular. Matt took a liking to him as he wasn't
like the rich people that he had encountered before, he was more like
Vince in his style but without the notorious temper tantrums.
Christina asked what he was thinking to which he confessed the truth,
not wanting to upset her by lying and possibly making things strained.
She burst into laughter and shot back, "Oh he has a temper. He isn't one
to get violent with it due to family history issues, but he has a
temper. I've seen him punish my kids and make them cry because he was
yelling over something they had done to ruin the carpets. He's good with
kids especially ones like my sister-in-law, he just hides his temper
better than most people."
Matt asked what she had meant, to which she smiled and added, "My
sister-in-law Jaimie is transgender. She opened his world up to people
who are worse off mentally and physically than he will ever be and tries
to help whenever he can. He's been great with kids but transgender
people just cause him to turn into a knight in shining armor and do
whatever it takes to protect them."
Matt felt weird about the situation but she just smiled and added,
"Don't worry about your secret getting out, he's discrete. You aren't
the first closeted person we've met." She walked on to where kids had
been gathering and helped set up Matt's introduction to the kids, giving
him a smile as she did so.
The event was fun as the kids listened to Matt speak and being so
different than other wrestlers he had them seeing that if you tried hard
to achieve your dreams you can be who you wanted to be. He happily told
them about his amateur years and the things he had endured in school
which many understood, especially the bullying stories, with the kids
cheering as they heard how good he did and what happened to those who
harmed him.
He spent several hours with the group, enjoying the afternoon and
evening as the Finn Foundation was a lot of different things yet whose
sole purpose was advancing the lives of those who needed help the most.
Matt could see a lot of himself in the people helped, giving him a sense
of just how lucky he had been so far in life. He had a loving family and
good money, most had nothing but themselves or who had family who hated
them or tried to even harm them.
John Finn invited Matt to his house for dinner, allowing him a chance to
enjoy a home-cooked meal while the two talked in a more private setting.
He blushed and admitted that he had his family with him so it wouldn't
be right to go and leave them in the RV. John smiled and told him to
take them along, especially as it would be better for the kids to unwind
after a long day in the city.
The Finn home was in a small city nearby, with John leading the way as
Matt drove the RV behind. It was a bit odd for Betty and she feared that
something was going on, but Matt told her that it wasn't any trouble and
the man just wanted to talk with him in private. She reluctantly agreed
to let the matter drop as it was important for him and she didn't want
to upset Matt any further.
The Finn home was smaller than expected, with it being larger than other
houses on the street yet not so large that it stuck out like a sore
thumb. John was mobbed by a bunch of little kids and teens, with the
Simpsons barely getting noticed while Davis and Vinny tried hard to not
ask what was going on. It was a family moment for John as Betty heard
several of the kids say, "Grandpa," and, "Uncle," as they went to John
and seemed to expect him to say something but didn't give them any heed.
The Simpsons were introduced to John's wife Valerie and his two
youngest, 11-year-old twins JD and Cat. The two said, "Hello," then went
back to doing what they had been doing, while the younger kids clung to
John's side. He happily told Matt, "They are my grandson and
granddaughters. They are trying to hone in on attention since they know
I'm up to something and hope it's something they can enjoy."
John told Davis and Vinny to go play with the kids, allowing their
parents a chance to talk without the duo hearing things that they
shouldn't understand yet. The young Finns played with the brothers with
no questions asked, so long as they were happy to play with them then
they were happy to play with the duo. Davis wasn't used to other kids
being nice to him but Vinny was happy to enjoy the company.
Inside the house, John didn't wast time and asked about Matt's other
side as he was hiding something from the world based on how he reacted
to the kids that day. Matt asked if Christina had said anything to which
John shook his head and explained, "I've been doing chaperoning for
years and only a few do the same kind of looks that you gave to the
kids. You aren't a predator as you would have been staring at other
parts of their bodies, you were more like sizing them up and seeing
yourself in them at the same age. Christina wouldn't have told me
anyway, unless it was going to hurt the kids she'd keep your secret and
give you your privacy."
Matt looked at Betty then confessed, "Since I'd rather get hurt
physically than have you go after me and my reputation legally I'll
admit the truth. I'm transgender. I've known I'm transgender since I was
13 and Betty here got me to show the real side of me to her. I was
diagnosed but haven't had the courage to transition like those kids
have. I've met only one child like them, she got help because her uncle
knew me and my situation. But it's different with those children, they
are trying and look like they have some support but judging by some of
the bruising on a couple they have more issues than acceptance."
John nodded, adding, "They have loving homes, but you can't stamp out
all transphobia. Even in our city, with its years of acceptance and
people of power standing firm on stamping out trouble it still thrives.
The two that you saw are staying with family due to their parents
hurting them, they are great kids but it's tough to come out to the
world and accept that there are consequences. They are getting help, we
have directed their families to people who will ensure that they have
the proper care. I had hoped that my daughter would treat them, but
she's carved a new life out in California"
Matt asked what he meant, to which Valerie added, "She's becoming a
psychiatrist specializing in gender issues. She's in the midst of her
second year of medical school." John added, "She's doing what she knows
best. As Christina told you, she's transgender like yourself."
Matt explained how things were about to get nasty for the Finn
Foundation due to their new association with Matt telling the couple,
"This Sunday I'm being forced to out myself to the world due to my boss'
former son-in-law and GCW #2 King Reign finding out about my private
life. He's going to tell the world that Matt Simpson is a pervert who
cross-dresses and who has a mental health issue. He broke into our RV
Monday night and stole documents from us about my condition, he won't
hesitate to try to take your group down for being associated with me
even if I was there on behalf of GCW."
John asked where the incident occurred then laughed. Valerie shook her
head and explained to the perplexed couple, "Our son and nephew are
state troopers assigned to the Attorney General's Office. They handle
civil rights violations among other cases for the state police. This
King fellow just made himself an enemy, based on the look John is
giving- the man won't leave this state for a decade."
John flashed a police badge and told the couple, "I'm required by law to
report this. It helps to have the right people close at hand, I'm sure
Christina will be happy to tell you just how her husband can be to those
who break the law in the way this King clown does. Only my nephew is
tougher on criminals."
John made a couple of phone calls while Valerie smirked and asked if he
had the evidence logged then had him tell the duo as they arrived what
happened and why. The two were given the run around by the locals but
after pressure from the duo and a phone call directly to chief of police
the duo then obtained copies of the report the police had made and
noticed some attempts by the officers to lower the charges without
reason. It was a chance to take action as they knew the truth and
emailed the DA for the county that prosecuted the case that the Attorney
General was taking it over while giving them notice that the local
officers were to be charged with falsifying reports and withholding
evidence from them.
Matt was speechless while Valerie happily told him, "They don't like it
when people mess with people who are unable to defend themselves. You
may be outing yourself, but you are taking a bite out of the man trying
to hurt you. Your boss is a good person, trust in him because he has a
plan in motion."
The Finns were ruthless, Matt gave his statement to the duo and showed
the documentation to back up the claims of being transgender as well as
his copy of the initial police report that showed that the one they were
given was altered. Seeing the papers only made the duo make phone calls
and get the proper backup for Matt and Betty for the Wrestlecade on
Sunday. They would record everything King said to them, then would have
the man set up for a long prison sentence once Matt outed himself as
King was going to ensure a retaliatory strike but would see himself
arrested for extortion and criminal threats.
Dinner was quiet as Matt was thinking while the kids were rushing
through the meal to get back to playing with the other kids. John's
twins were quick to eat while Cat prepared for a, "Study date" with her
boyfriend, with Matt seeing how much JD resembled John while Cat showed
that she was her mother's daughter. John caught his looks and happily
said that Cat had her mother's smarts and her paternal grandmother's
family's personality- a notoriously horrible combination for him.
Cat gave him a sly grin which caused John to mutter, "Don't even think
about it." Cat happily told Matt that the ladies all shared something in
the blood that made them dangerous to anyone who was trying to do harm
to their family. Then added, "Daddy doesn't like that me, my aunts, and
my cousins can all make him do whatever we want him to do. He can't tell
his girls no. He keeps trying but fails badly."
John blushed as Valerie lost it while JD complained that Cat was showing
off again. Valerie had to tell him, "She's not joking, he really is able
to be manipulated by them." Betty gave him a sympathetic nod, adding,
"My brother Hank is the same way, his daughter Ginny has him and her
brother wrapped around her finger. With her it's learned behavior since
Hank's adopted. Thankfully she can't manipulate us, it doesn't work on
women especially Taylor."
Cat asked who Taylor was, to which her parents told her that it's
private. She groaned then looked at Matt and boldly proclaimed, "So
what, he's transgender or a cross-dresser. You act like it the first
time we've heard of one." John shot back, "It's a private matter."
The meal died down and the kids ran off to play more so they could burn
off their energy. Matt and Betty got the kids and had trouble separating
them, but were happy that the kids were in a good mood and had been on
their best behavior. The Finns were a nice group of people, the kids
were a reflection on their parents and grandparents with John easily
showing that he might have been a rich man but money doesn't change who
you are as a person, he cared about others with Matt being just one in a
long line of people who had been helped by him and his organization.
The boys were asleep as soon as they were strapped into their seats,
with the duo driving on to the RV park 20 miles away to spend the night.
Vince called to ask about the day, which Matt sighed and told him, "You
are really something. I had to tell everything to the Finns leading to a
meeting with his son and nephew so they could assist. They wouldn't let
me refuse to help, it's their jobs to do so."
Vince demanded to know what that was about, to which he explained
further, "They are state troopers and deal with crimes that King is
trying to do. The break-in is being investigated as part of an extortion
case. They believe that King will try to threaten me and go after my
family. He knows you are going to destroy him so he's using them as
leverage to get you off of his back. The Finns aren't letting him do
that. They are setting a trap for him, one that doesn't require us to do
much. It's all on him to make his move and we both know that he won't
miss the chance to gloat and threaten me before destroying us."
Vince let out a laugh, he knew that John Finn would have a hand in
helping Matt but not in that way. He asked how he got to that point,
with Matt recalling the entire situation and listening as Vince was
having trouble controlling his laughter as the man was nothing like he
had expected. Vince rarely did that for people, but John Finn was
underestimated and turned out to be a huge boon for Matt.
Vince got down to business and had him doing publicity at multiple radio
and TV stations then on the national TV broadcasts. It was going to be a
busy day but his handlers were able to keep Matt on track and get him
from place to place while ensuring that he knew what was going to be
asked and by whom. He knew his past as an amateur wrestler was going to
be talked about, he just hoped that the station wasn't going to make a
big issue of him winning a championship so soon after joining the GCW.
The local channels were fun as he happily told the stations that the
charity work was great fun and the Finn Foundation was a group that was
one of the best organizations that he had ever encountered and were a
treasure to the Boston area. The associated groups like the Reagan
Group, which Matt was going to visit that evening, was seen as a big bit
of fun and excitement as the kids involved were great and he had met
several of them already thanks to meeting family and friends of theirs.
He was unaware that he had encountered the executive director when he
got Davis and Vinny from the Finn yard, but one of the boys that was
playing with them was the director's own son as another coincidence JD
and Cat had spent much of the time before dinner talking with his
daughter as well.
The interviews were basic as expected. Matt had to endure shaking his
head at some of the old pictures that he was shown, with Matt's face
always showing concentration but Matt smiling in the post-match shots.
He explained that he was so focused on his job and what he remembered
from his scouting report so when he won he was happy to think freely
again. It caught the anchors off guard and served as a way to get on
with the questioning while they ribbed one another over Matt's classic,
"Game face" look, giving Matt a breather and the needed segue to more
questions.
The lowest point of the day came when ASPN mentioned his former coach
and gym teacher, Harry Waite, and his harsh words for Matt especially
regarding him being a pro wrestler. Matt needed to take a few seconds to
calm down then asked ASPN if they had done their homework regarding the
man and when they showed that they hadn't he happily told them, "Harry
Waite is a convicted felon. He spent a total of four years in prison for
assault on a minor, violating probation, and a series of other small
acts that added up over the decades. He has hated me since he first laid
eyes on me. I was the boy who was not a typical wrestler: small, skinny,
fast, able to take him down and beat him despite larger size and
experience. Whatever criticism he has is based on jealousy and losing
his freedom."
ASPN tried to turn things around on Matt but he pointed out, "The
information is freely available on the internet as it made waves locally
in Orlando. His conviction caused my school district issues as he was
supposed to have been fired after his first drunk driving arrest. He was
barred from being a coach two years before he assaulted me: not for how
he treated me, but for how he treated others on my team. The man is the
worst possible source of any information about wrestling, especially
regarding me."
ASPN's segment with Matt ended up making the rounds of the national news
outlets as he made them look like amateurs in their reporting practices
and use of unreliable sources. Their bias against Matt was then exposed
as criticism of him by the network was shown to be them trying to
retaliate against Matt for exposing their bad reporting. ASPN was a
laughingstock of the media world, with Matt's own brother-in-law Hank
telling colleagues in the media that Matt wasn't one to get upset but
ASPN was well over the line in how they were treating him and trying to
create controversy where they wasn't any.
Hank was upset that Harry Waite was even brought up, he did some digging
and found Harry Waite was gloating about getting a big payday from King
Reign for taking down Matt Simpson, which he was told to forward to the
Finn Duo investigating the case against King. Hank wanted to know what
was going on, but Matt would only tell him, "I'll tell you everything
Sunday morning. Be up here then."
Hank called his parents for information, only to be told that all of
them were going north to be with the Simpsons as it was going to be a
major situation that Hank was going to be involved in. He asked what to
do with his son and daughter, being told, "They should come too. I know
you don't want them to miss school, but they need to be here too. Betty
isn't saying much, but it's serious enough for us all to come."
The seven Blacks booked tickets for their trip, with the three youngest
being kept in the dark. Richard wasn't a fool and figured out something
was going on involving Taylor while his sister-in-law Lillian tried hard
to keep her husband from exploding at Matt for causing an uproar in
their lives again. She was in constant contact with Betty and knew
already about King's actions and wanted to beat the man herself but
cooler heads prevailed as the kids needed her to distract them.
Matt met with the Reagan Group and shook his head at the Finn
grandchildren being among the group, with the director, Juan Reagan,
happily telling him, "They are the third generation of Finns involved in
our activities and the fourth generation to have any hand in the group's
running. The group has had a Finn in it since it started, it's almost
tradition now." Matt just smiled and got the gist of it, they were happy
to be involved in one way or another.
The kids loved what Matt was teaching them, especially as he showed them
how a lot of what he did is dangerous and if they didn't do things right
they'd be hurt. He and the practice dummy got a lot of air, with Matt
telling them about his moves while adding that some of the times they
were dangerous to the wrestlers that he was squaring off with. The tale
about him and Impossible got gasps, with Matt giving a sad head shake
while adding, "It's why practice is key, he was lucky but it could have
been worse."
The group thanked him, with the kids who he already met giving smiles at
him almost as if they knew a few things that he didn't know. Juan told
him they talked a lot about what the adults were saying, so it was them
knowing about the visits by their uncles and dad. Matt didn't elaborate
but he could tell that Juan was involved indirectly by keeping the kids
from getting too close during the adults' discussions.
When the GCW plane arrived with the NEW personnel and GCW executives
Matt was relieved of his PR duties. He was praised for enduring the week
solo, but the rewrites and rescheduling took all week. Matt understood,
he had help but being the face for the week wore on him.
The NEW ladies wanted to take Matt out on the town, but he opted to
remain with his family. He was trying to keep a distance from them to
save them from being extorted by King Reign, who showed up in Boston
just after the GCW plane landed. Matt explained to them that he had a
lot of work to do involving producing which they accepted even if it was
a total lie.
King Reign had a tail ever since he landed at Logan Airport. The state
police were happily following the man and enjoyed seeing him meeting
with shady characters including the drug dealing doctor Bien Sentismo.
King was photographed paying the man for multiple pouches of pills then
going toward the arena, going right to where Matt parked the RV.
King and an associate opened the RV and left without any of the bags of
pills, if it wasn't caught by the troopers on camera nobody would have
believed how ballsy he had been in trying to frame Matt for possession
of controlled substances. The troopers called the Boston Police to alert
them to disregard a call from an anonymous tipster about drugs in the
Simpson RV, they witnessed the situation and if they intervened they'd
have to answer to the Attorney General as to why they were hindering a
State Police investigation. It was a clear warning: stay away or they'd
have issues.
King's phone was tapped by warrant and what they heard made them laugh
as he tried to make a big issue of watching a drug deal involving a
large quantity of pills that were still inside the RV. He then called
the media to alert them to one of the GCW wrestlers about to be arrested
on drug possession and the GCW covering up the wrestler's drug usage for
several years. He made sure to go to the worst of the media, the Boston
stations that loved juicy stories even if they were unproved by facts.
His worst phone call was to the infamous dirtsheets, with King giving
them every bit of dirty laundry to which they happily said they'd post
it after the arrests went down. The dirtsheets were more concerned with
maintaining their special access that King had given to them but had
been denied since he was put away from any active role in the GCW. They
wanted juicy dirt, King was giving them gold even if it was total
garbage painted to look like gold.
The whole situation was becoming more and more complicated, King was
trying to destroy Matt and did not care one bit about anyone seeing just
how thin his claims were. He knew who to go to and what to say to get
them to react the way that he wanted while keeping himself safe from
being the focus of any possible backlash. The man was a sociopath, he
just didn't care one bit about others.
The group waited for Matt to return then explained what happened, why,
and where things would lead. He was upset that King would go beyond
threatening him, he put his sons in danger of being removed by social
services and had the police do his dirty work for him. Miles Finn
laughed at the claims, he happily told Matt, "We know the truth, and we
just so happen to have social services on your side to keep the rats
from trying to snipe at your family through them. My sister-in-law would
love to have a go at King over this, but she doesn't want to harm Stacy
Turner."
Matt was taken aback but realized that he wasn't joking. Miles grinned
while his colleagues all said, "He's not joking," which caused Matt to
relax a little. He got to enjoy the fun as their crime scene techs
dusted the RV for fingerprints to show that King had been inside and had
left the drugs, then removed all of the evidence before leaving the RV
sealed and a notice that anyone entering was subject to arrest.
The Simpsons went to the GCW's hotel and checked in. Matt had the kids
go to bed while Betty got an update from her parents and siblings. The
Blacks were in Boston and en-route right at that moment.
The night was spent talking while the kids were put to bed early. Jerome
Black tried to stay up as he was not in the mood to be left out of plans
but a look from his grandmother told him to keep an eye on the three
younger kids. His sister Ginny dragged him away, whining about boys as
her mother laughed at her brother's trying to act like a big man but
being just annoying.
The Blacks were finally told what was going on, leading Hank to grew
outraged and try to blame it all on Matt for not leaving Taylor at home.
Matt angrily countered that King would have broken into their home
regardless, he was desperate to get any dirt on him and didn't care one
bit about what he had to do to tear Matt apart in the eyes of everyone.
He was getting desperate, he had already tried to plant drugs in the RV
and had he not met the Finns Matt would be facing hard prison time for
that.
Hank was upset and did his usual stewing over his being left out of
Matt's troubles. He hated that there was a rift between him and Matt to
the point that Matt barely talked to him anymore and even then it was
only in regards to the kids or Lillian and not as his friend. He loved
Matt and had never stopped loving him but the more time that was passing
by the less the two were like the close friends that they had been in
high school and were almost at the point of being strangers.
The Blacks knew not to try to break through to Hank when he was in one
of his moods. He couldn't be reasoned with nor could he listen when he
didn't want to listen. He was going to have to accept that he wasn't
able to help them and if he tried to he'd only make things worse.
Lillian was doing a lot of thinking on her own and finally surmised that
Hank had a key role to play in this whole situation- in fact, his help
was critical to getting the truth out there. She told her husband, "If
you are going to sit there stewing, at least do Taylor a favor and tell
the truth about her. Nobody knows her as we do, you need to tell the
world just who Taylor Thomas is and why she was kept from all. If it
isn't done Matt Simpson will be ripped to shreds by your so-called
colleagues and become nothing but the butt of jokes for the next decade.
She needs you to ensure the truth stomps out the lies. Help her."
She smiled at her husband and handed him her ideas, with him being told
to tell everything as can only be told by someone who knew Taylor like
he did and who could vocalize the truth. He had earned the respect of
newspapers across the Orlando metropolitan area, he was respected by
editors and publishers so he could get the story the needed traction and
force the real story out there. He wasn't able to refuse, this was going
to hurt all of them so he would either help or start looking for a new
place to live as they would not be able to live in their hometown
anymore when Taylor was exposed to the world.
Hank excused himself and went to work in his room, with Lillian shaking
her head at him being in his usual grumpy mood as he got himself worked
up to write the story that he wanted to write and force it to be
accepted by his editors. He wasn't going to let anyone harm his family,
he was going to put the word out there and ensure that truth was told.
Taylor would be protected from hit pieces.
The rest of the Blacks kept Matt from getting too upset but only saw him
get even more outraged as he received a text from Miles that King was
heading for his suite and wasn't alone. He told Matt to record
everything, if they got physical they had no choice but to take King
into custody but he hoped that it didn't come down to that. King was a
coward, he was trying to intimidate Matt more than harm him.
Matt told the others what was going on, with Hank being told to shelve
his article for a while as trouble was about to come to them. He cracked
his knuckles in a show of force, but Matt told him that it was useless.
He was too weak to fight off the thugs, and only Matt could handle King.
Hank thought quickly and grabbed his video camera and started to record
the conversation. He would drop in that he was recording the meeting,
hoping that they would be too arrogant to choose their words carefully
and didn't try to find the camera and destroy it. Hank didn't need to
tell them anything, Matt had a warrant allowing the recording but he
wanted to cover them anyway.
King and his thugs pounded on the door and burst into the room when
Betty answered the door, moved to surround Matt in a show of force, then
forced him to sit while King growled at him to sit down and shut his
trap or he'd get his ass kicked. The Blacks had to fight laughs as Matt
could easily beat the four thugs thanks to his martial arts training but
he went along with King's threats. King ignored the rest of the family,
he only focused on Matt which was a huge mistake on his part.
Hank told King that he was recording them and was uploading the video
online. King ignored him, he wasn't the one he was there for so he was
beneath his notice. Hank gave him enough slack and King had just hung
himself in his moment of arrogance.
King didn't waste time, he happily told Matt, "Get the fuck out of MY
sport. You don't belong in it and you have cost me my woman, my home,
and now my job. That old bastard is going to kick the bucket soon, he's
going to have an unfortunate plane accident leaving the company to his
daughter and ME. I control that idiot, she does whatever I tell her to
do. She's going to sign over all of her shares in the company or she's
going to end up locked away while she takes 'an extended vacation' that
sadly ends when she ends up becoming the victim of violence."
Nobody said a word, King kept talking. He angrily screamed at Matt, "You
have done nothing but make my life miserable. First, you get my guys
fired. Then you get me fired from producing shows. Now you took my job
in corporate! You are a fraud. You are just a shyster who peddles
garbage but somehow can get that idiot Vince to listen. You are nothing.
I worked my tail off screwing people out of their hard-earned money,
swindling kids out of their bonuses, taking a percentage out of all of
the contracts. I have millions stashed away in my account, you are
costing me all of that money. I've had enough of it."
He struck Matt, then had his thugs do the same to him. When Matt came up
for air King added, "I know all about your secret. That idiot detective
that broke into your RV found your clothing and documents. You are just
a perverted freak. I ought to castrate you right now but I'm going to
humiliate you in the one place that'll hurt you more than anything: in
the ring. When you are in your match, I'm going to let it leak that you
are one of those tranny freaks and love to pretend that you are a woman.
You will be the laughingstock of the world. Nobody will hire you, hell
you will be lucky to leave the arena without getting beaten by the
crowd. And that's not the only thing I'll do to you."
He was smiling now, he happily told him, "I called the cops. You have
several thousand illegal pills in your RV. I also called social
services, you and your wife are getting investigated by them. Your
family will get ripped apart, your kids put in a home. Your wife will be
in prison with you, she will get what she deserves for letting you
prance around. Enjoy your freedom, neither of you will have it."
King saw himself out but was stopped by Miles and a half dozen state
troopers. Miles flashed his badge, read King his rights, then told him
that he really needed to deal with his drug issues as they found
hundreds of pills in his room. King's attempt to intimidate Matt was all
they needed to jump at the opportunity to search King's room and entered
just after he left for the hotel.
Miles found everything that he had hoped to find: copies of the files
stolen from Matt's RV, pictures of Matt dressed as Taylor, statements
from people who claimed to know Taylor. The pills were in dozens of
bottles prescribed to King by Dr. Bien Sentismo and fulfilled by
pharmacies across the country, with the good doctor enjoying a federal
case for drug trafficking as well as a loss of his medical license. He
was already in trouble in Massachusetts as he prescribed pills to King
yet there is no record of a license to practice medicine in the state,
adding more charges on top of the existing drug charges.
King's arrest was kept quiet, but Matt suspected that he had a plan in
place to use his supporters in the GCW to leak rumors of the GCW
covering for a drug dealer while giving the media King's version of the
truth about Matt's private life. Nothing had changed, only that they
were on the offensive now. He was going to show that he wasn't going to
hide anymore and tell everyone exactly why he was giving up his career
at that point but doing so without compromising the criminal cases
against King.
Hank was hard at work writing a long article on the criminal activities
of King Reign and how it had finally come to a head when he tried to
force his views on the GCW but came up against the one person in the
company who not only was what he had tried to exterminate from the
company but had the full backing of the company to continue on. King was
coming off as a real piece of work, and with quotes freely given by
people who actually knew King and were no longer afraid to tell the
truth Hank was making something that could compete for a Pulitzer Prize.
It was a long article, but it was his first attempt to not just report
but to preach to the readers and take a solid stand against something
that was important to him personally- someone harming his family.
The day was going to be tough for Matt as he said goodbye to the people
that he actually cared about in the GCW, with those that didn't care for
him getting a "good luck to you" from him as a show that he had no hard
feelings towards them even if they had them towards him. The Take On
event that night was going to be one that he dreaded, Tanya, Anya, and
Ara?a were three who he regretted not being able to help along in their
path to greatness but he trusted the producers to keep them working hard
and their following with the fans were strong enough to continue onward.
The ladies were some of the most technically sound wrestlers he had ever
encountered, they just needed confidence in their abilities.
The Take On event was an enjoyable experience for the Blacks, especially
for the two boys in the midst of puberty. Richard and his nephew Jerome
could barely control themselves as they met one lady after another, with
Jerome showing that he was fully in love with any woman with a set of
breasts. His father had to rein him in multiple times while Matt
explained what was going on, getting the ladies to make the tween almost
faint from the tight, breast-filled hugs that they gave to him.
The trio who were moving up to GCW was pulled aside and introduced to
Vince by Matt. The ladies were unable to speak, with Matt telling Ara?a,
"You finally made it. You made me so proud of you."
She was in tears and tried to tell him that she owed him everything, but
Matt countered, "All I did was give you a chance to take over for me. It
was your hard work and ability to learn from others that made you into
what you are. You learned to be Ara?a, then you learned to be your own
person, then you did your best in NEW to learn to be a GCW superstar.
You earned this, all I did was give you the mask."
Vince discussed what the ladies were going to do and discussed possible
name changes, but gave Matt his blessing and told Ara?a, "You keep your
name. We need more Latina wrestlers, especially those who are following
the masked tradition. It's more than a gimmick to you, it's part of your
character."
The four talked for a while as Matt sat silently, showing pride as the
trio were his legacy with the GCW as he had helped craft them as
characters and as wrestlers. Even if the world never recognized what he
had done for them, they knew and were happy to tell the world. The duo
was a great tag team and the young Ara?a was going to make waves as a
bonafide threat to women's division.
Poor Jerome was whacked in the head several times by his sister for
leering at the ladies, with her not even trying to look at the guys in
skimpy trunks and singlets that showed large bulges in their crotches.
She wasn't into boys yet, but did notice that some obviously stuffed
their crotches while others were a more natural size. She snickered at
the guys who stuffed, they were her uncle's least favorite wrestlers and
who obviously had used steroids in the past or still used them, "Under
doctor's orders."
The family left the arena to enjoy a night together, with Matt doing his
best to calm himself while the kids enjoyed their grandparents'
affection and Betty the chance to pawn them off on others. Matt got
changed into Taylor and left separately from the family, joining them
nearby for the trip while his brother-in-law Hank tried hard to not ask
what the whole act was about, knowing the answer already. It was
impossible to leave as Taylor with the family and not get noticed, she
was just another faceless guest while the family was together and given
no notice either.
The restaurant was a good sized restaurant and highly recommended by the
Finns. The staff was great and gave them VIP service despite being
regular customers. They didn't know why the group was to be treated so
nicely by the staff, they simply followed the owners' instructions.
Midway through the meal, the group was surprised when Valerie and John
Finn stopped by to see the group. John smirked at Taylor, who blushed at
being clocked while Valerie asked if they had been given great service
per their orders. Betty asked how they knew they were there, with
Valerie happily telling the group, "We co-own the restaurant. It's a
joint venture of the wives of the family. It's one thing that John
doesn't own and he is happy to let us have our own source of revenue."
The Blacks and Simpsons had a good meal and refused to let it be comped
by Valerie, with Hank's wife Lillian telling them, "It's a business
expense since we are talking business" getting Valerie to give in to
them. Davis and Vinny happily hugged the Finns goodbye, with Betty
telling the others, "He's a wealthy man and she's the nicest woman you
will ever meet. He has more personal wealth than Vince and doesn't have
it tied up in the company alone yet he's about as average as you can be
for a person."
The family let it go, she was smiling and gave her "I'm serious" face
which showed she was telling the truth while Richard added, "It says
online his kids are worth over $200 million each and he himself is
almost a billionaire on his own. He's got a lot of people saying it's
fake but there's too much proof."
The family shook their heads at Taylor and Betty getting to rub elbows
with rich and powerful people and not even take heed of it. Richard
swore that they were enjoying being around more money than all of their
town would see in a lifetime yet act like it's no big deal. It wasn't to
them, they were just good people who took a liking to Taylor and wanted
to help her.
The night was tough on Taylor as her nerves were frayed and mind was
racing at the various possible outcomes from the big announcement. She
needed Davis' help in calming herself, he wouldn't sleep without her
hugs and focusing on Davis allowed her to calm herself. When he fell
asleep she fell asleep as well, hugging him in her slumber.
The scene was touching and was followed by Vinny waking and seeking his
mother. He was scared and needed her to put him down again, but his
reaction was more of one of his mind acting like Taylor's and less like
Davis' overexcited mind. He was more astute than Davis, he knew
something as going on.
He begged Betty to tell him what was happening, she tried to lie to him
but he wouldn't let her. He gave her his toughest-to-refuse pleading
look which prompted her to explain, "Your daddy won't be coming back
tomorrow night. You mommy Taylor will be here to stay. Something bad is
happening to your daddy so he can't hide being your mommy Taylor
anymore. Some bad people want to hurt him and show the world his true
self but he won't let them. He's telling the world on his own that he's
really your mommy. She is here to stay, she is going to take you to
school and pick you up and be there for you from now on. You will always
have a daddy in her, but she is your mommy in full."
He kissed her and fell asleep, with Betty joining Taylor in bed as she
herself finally fell asleep. She was just like Taylor, her mind was
racing at full speed over the multiple outcomes of the truth of Taylor's
existence being revealed. She feared the worst but hoped for the best,
it was what she did best.
The next morning, Matt had to endure a lot of angry looks from King's
supporters as they whispered among themselves at seeing him. He knew
they were trying to muddy the waters for that evening's big reveal, but
they had no idea that he was stealing their thunder and making King out
to be the horrible person that all knew him to truly be. His supporters
were barely hanging on to their places in the GCW so their support for a
man who is breaking a huge unwritten rule in wrestling by going after a
family was about to backfire on them in a major way.
The annual meeting of the entire GCW roster was held, with every
wrestler there regardless of injury or whether they were involved in the
main card or pre-show matches. The Wrestlecade headliners were there,
which is a rarity and even more so as they were complaining about having
their beauty sleep interrupted by Vince and his unnecessary
announcement. He wouldn't budge on his requirement that everyone be
there regardless of status, what he had to say had to be listened to by
all.
Vince told the GCW security people to shut the doors then announced to
the crowd, "Tonight will be a show for the ages. Sadly, it'll be because
of outside issues that it will be remembered, not for what any of you do
in the ring. This evening I'll address the crowd about something that
has been going on for a long time involving one of our own. King Reign
has been arrested and will be sentenced to years in prison for crimes
against one of our own. I won't go into details yet, but until tonight
all of you are to stay silent to everyone. This is a serious situation
so that means absolutely no outside communications. You will go to the
arena in your rental cars but you are not to speak with anyone. I am
serious about this, if you speak your contract is terminated without a
chance to appeal. Read your contracts, it's all spelled out under the
emergency gag order. Once invoked, you will have to pay back the entire
amount of the contract including all expenses. That will bankrupt you as
I know none of you have the minimum of $2.5 million that you were paid."
He looked at the few who would have broken their silence, daring them to
speak. He then added, "For a select few I am assigning security to
escort you everywhere, to drive you to and from the show, and to keep an
eye on you. I know where your allegiances lay, you were fools to put
your trust in him. You are going to pay the price shortly, none of you
will be retained and will see you dropped down the roster until your
contracts run out. You are history in the GCW."
Turning to Matt, he added, "Matt Simpson will make an address to the GCW
world after the start of the program. It's being done because it needs
to be done. What he says will change GCW forever. I am not going to
allow any of you to retaliate once you hear what he has to say. He is
the most vital member of our roster and has kept this company going for
years. I support him no matter what."
The meeting broke and saw the few who needed minders trying to slip away
but unable to do so. They were taken to the arena to talk with the State
Police about the criminal conspiracy charges that they had pending
against them, thanks to text messages and phone calls from King and Dr.
Sentismo. They were caught off guard and tried to lie, ensnaring them
into a trap that the couldn't escape from.
Vince dropped them from the show without notice, inserting NEW wrestlers
in their place while giving the few who Matt had suggested the empty
roster spots allowing them to do more for themselves while the roster
adapted to the new blood and fresh storylines the newcomers gave to
them. Matt had done it all during the planning session with the
producers days before, he kept it under wraps at the Take On event so
the dirtsheets didn't get wind of it. The ones dropped were no big loss,
they only kept their job due to their cheap costs and having King bully
the writers into including them.
The show itself was a huge production that required all hands to make it
work. Matt's parents, Nancy and Wally Simpson, were the only members of
the crew to not take part. They had good reason not to, Matt needed them
and it was feared that they'd harm those who were against the newly
outed Taylor.
The pre-show match between Matt and another was changed to the main
card, with the match between two of the arrested wrestlers being
replaced by it. Their actual match was scrapped, with the huge battle
royal between mid and under-card wrestlers taking up more time. Matt's
match was given the opening slot, allowing him to make his announcement
and set up Vince's own announcement afterward.
The pre-show was fun for all and the expanded time slot meant a lot of
the wrestlers got to last longer and perform their signature moves at
least once before being eliminated by the favorites. The NEW guys were
given a proper welcoming as they lasted until the end and were
eliminated by the eventual winner in a joint elimination over the top
rope. The whole match drew a rousing applause as the crowd enjoyed the
sight and cheered whenever the heels got their just desserts and gave
heat whenever the babyfaces were eliminated.
Matt's match kicked-off the main card and was one that featured Matt in
a triple-threat match against a team of British wrestlers who were
getting a push as a tag team but who had worked well with Matt to the
point that he had been able to get them heat and over with the fans
better than the others had. The duo was a middle of the road team that
could get heat as heels but also could serve as babyfaces when they
faced true villain heel teams. They were stuck on the undercard until
Matt chose them to be his biggest test as a singles wrestler,
establishing them as a proper threat and putting them over with fans.
In his short time with the GCW roster "The Lincolnshire Bombers" were
his best match-up as his style was perfect foils for their style of
using the ropes to assist their springing jumps and unorthodox spins. He
was able to utilize his own high-flier moves to counter them with the
trio trading hits and bounces in several fun matches. If Matt wasn't
about to throw away his career by telling the world that he was a female
inside, the trio would have ended up headlining that summer's Bash of
the Summer show in an epic triple threat elimination match.
The match was high energy, high excitement as was typical of them. This
time though, Matt had them enjoying the match as he told them that they
were about to become globally known thanks to what he was going to do
after the match. The duo told him they had his support, they were keenly
aware of the rumblings about Matt being different and supported him in
full.
The match ended with Matt putting his Muta Lock on one while the other
was stunned from Matt's quick frankensteiner takedown. The duo hugged
Matt and gave him the microphone and stood proudly off to the side as
Matt made his special announcement to the world. the crowd gasped in
shock and paid respect to Matt, letting him speak while the rest of the
GCW roster came out to show support for Matt and let the world know that
he was one of them even if he was really she inside.
Matt stood tall in the ring and told the world about his true self. He
held nothing back and told the truth and gave up his career to protect
his family. Matt entered that ring, but it was Taylor who left it and
was not going to let anyone harm her family even if it harms herself in
the process.
As Taylor exited the ring and her music played, the camera followed her
and showed the faces of each of the GCW superstars who was there, with
those who offered her gratitude and support showing that it wasn't false
sympathy. Vince hugged Taylor to show his own support, letting her walk
on to Betty and the combined Black and Simpson family as he walked on to
the ring himself.
Vince took to the microphone and the crowd quieted down. No chants were
made, nobody made any sound. Vince looked around the arena and at his
wrestlers and took a deep breath, readying himself.
When he was ready, the announced to the world, "I have been in this
business for 70 years. My father bought a small promotion from a man who
tried to keep his family business going in a changing time. My father
rebuilt the company and showed me how to be a businessman first and
foremost."
He looked around and continued, "I am a businessman, but I am also a
family man. Family will always come first. I have done a lot of bad
things over the years but the worst thing I ever did was harm my family.
55 years ago I had an affair with a woman in California. We were both
drunk and upset at our spouses and felt like it would be good to get
revenge on them. She became pregnant and gave birth to a handsome baby
boy. She confessed her infidelity to her husband, who then agreed to
raise the boy as his own eldest child. His children all know about his
eldest being my son, but he was never told who his real father was. That
changed when that boy had a child of his own, one who grew up in the GCW
like I had done. That child, my first grandson, is that same brave young
woman who just exited this ring: Taylor Thomas."
He shed a tear and blurted out, "I lived with this secret for far too
long. Taylor is in danger from a man who I mistakenly believed to be
family but who was trying to use my daughter to steal what my family has
built over the decades. I can't let him do that. I would gladly tell the
world my darkest secret to take the ability that he has to destroy me
away from him. Taylor Thomas is my grandchild, the daughter of a man who
has been in the employ of GCW from the time he graduated high school. He
has been a silent part of the GCW family, but he is truly family to me.
I'm sorry, Wally. I should have told you years ago. You didn't deserve
to find out this way."
He walked away, looking at the shocked Stacy who hugged him deeply and
guided him to the back. It was chaos as the crowd applauded him and the
media went into a frenzy as two juicier stories broke that gave Taylor
the chance to sink down the news reports and get less notice. Vince knew
that he was going to take a financial hit but in his eyes, protecting
Taylor mattered most.
In the back, Wally hugged Vince while Stacy hugged Nancy. The two didn't
need to say any words, it was poignant and nothing that they said could
ever match the feelings that were flowing. Taylor was then hugged and
kissed by Stacy, followed by her new great-nephews.
The family moved on to Vince's private office. The family didn't need to
say any words, just take in the moment. The Turners were now more than
just Stacy and Vince, to the GCW Taylor Thomas having the ear of Vince
finally came to be explained in full- she was family and Vince listened
to family.
Vince looked at the perplexed Wally and confessed to him, "Your birth
certificate was changed after you were brought back from the hospital.
You were originally 'Walter Theodore Turner'. Your mother and real
father changed it after he got a guilt trip from his parents. They
wanted grandchildren and didn't care if you weren't his son. It was
legally done via a friend of the family. I have a copy of the order, as
well as a copy of the blessing that I had to give to him laying claim to
you. Despite your DNA, he is your father in all ways. He raised you, I
didn't."
Before he could ask, Vince added, "I kept this from you to save you the
embarrassment that would have come from it. You had a good family, your
grandparents were good people that I had known for years. I wanted you
to have a normal life, I never planned on you ever joining me but fate
is fickle and you were hired by your predecessor thanks to your
experience. It's why you kept your job over the years, you are good at
it and are the best anywhere. Nobody but your parents and I knew."
Davis and Vinny ran to Vince and hugged him tightly, calling him,
"Grampy." Vince hugged them back, letting the two know that he cared
about them and he was happy to receive their affection. The duo was
definitely related to him, it was something he'd do.
The extended Turner family relaxed in the office while the executive
producers handled the show. It was too taxing on Vince's mind to be out
there and the way they had set things up it wasn't required as the
matches were plotted and lines were written days before. The only swerve
had been taken care of already, the drama involving Taylor was quickly
forgotten by the GCW and not referenced by any of the wrestlers nor the
announcers during the remaining matches.
The show was well received, with the matches having a lot of action that
earned them high praise while the only low points being the two
revelation announcements. The dirtsheets tried to claim that it was all
a stunt and Matt was going for a transgender wrestler angle, but when
Hank's article was posted online and verified by multiple sources
including the Massachusetts State Police their claims were laughed at.
The police sources confirmed that in addition to King being arrested,
multiple other wrestlers were in jail awaiting arraignment for drug
violations and criminal conspiracy charges.
Miles held a press conference while Wrestlecade was still going on and
confirmed that there had been an extortion attempt made against Matt
Simpson AKA Taylor Thomas due to Taylor being transgender. He ripped
into King and the wrestlers, exposing how they had threatened to harm
Betty and the boys while using social services to do their dirty work to
ruin the family's reputation. Dr. Sentismo was stated as being caught
with thousands of dollars of illegal prescription drugs and prescribing
medicine and practicing medicine without a license, with his license
being revoked by his home state of Texas.
King and Dr. Sentismo were facing federal charges alongside state
charges, as the DEA and FBI were involved in the investigation thanks to
the pills and text message chains originating from other states. They
were quick to exonerate the GCW of any wrongdoing, with Miles praising
them for their support of Taylor and trying to keep their wrestlers free
of the illicit behavior King was conducting. He was more than happy to
praise them for assisting and helping set up their stings as well as
protecting an employee who was trying to do her best to live a life
despite being in constant inner turmoil.
Miles ignored any attempts by the dirtsheets to claim that it was a
work, Miles smirked and asked the real media if they had questions then
told the dirtsheets that they'd see just how serious this was the next
morning when King, Dr. Sentismo, and the wrestlers were arraigned in
court. He then added, "You may not like her, but Taylor did a brave
thing tonight. She is going to endure harassment from people like
yourself who dislike her for being different. She is a hero, you are
just bullies with blogs."
The real media laughed while the dirtsheets grew angry. The reporters
for the Boston newspapers told the six that they had better leave
reporting to real reporters and go back to peddling their rumors. Miles
then stopped two in particular and told them, "You are lucky, Taylor
insisted that you not be arrested for your role in all of this. We know
that you have stories ready to be posted using King as your source, but
we have chosen to not take action against you. However, if you try to go
after Taylor we will proceed with obstruction of justice and criminal
conspiracy charges against you."
Those weren't threats as Miles' boss wanted to take out the two worst
dirtsheets as they had been part of the plan to out Taylor and if not
for Miles' cooler head prevailing she would have done so. Miles did the
smart thing and ensured that the dirtsheets were ruined thanks to the
legitimate media investigating them and their role in the whole
situation. They were about to see their websites shut down and their
readership decimated as their reputations were ruined by Miles' words of
warning.
The media picked up Hank's story as soon as it was noticed, with his
editors telling those who inquired that he got the information straight
from the source as he was related to the newly dubbed Taylor. Hank saw
his story copied and shared millions of times as the night wore on, with
Hank's words showing just how much he cared about Taylor and how much
she had endured over the years while still doing what it took to achieve
her dream, a dream that she had just given up because of King's actions.
The article was long and shared his inner feelings for Taylor, with him
taking a beating online over his being a jerk at times and not
supporting her but was overwhelmingly supportive of Hank and Taylor.
When the show finally finished, the family left as one, with the
Simpsons going directly for their RV and driving south without stopping.
Betty drove first, then Taylor took over when she awoke from her forced
sleep. The boys were actually asleep after Taylor, not wanting to go to
bed until she was asleep and only going down when they knew that Betty
was going to be alright drive on her own.
They arrived home that evening, with Taylor feeling like garbage while
the boys were tired from the long trip. Their home was destroyed, with
gay slurs written across the each of the walls and much of their
electronics stolen. Their closets were wrecked, but thankfully for them
most of their clothing was already gone and only Matt's clothes were
destroyed.
Betty called the police then insisted on a detective, fighting with the
police dispatcher and forcing them to talk with their lawyer the next
day as the department and dispatchers had to explain why they were
violating the rights of a victim. Betty was furious but calmed when her
parents told them to go to the Simpson home while their lawyers handled
the insurance and police investigation. They found that the police were
suddenly cooperative when Betty's lawyers told her that the police had
an earful from the state over rights violations especially as there were
complaints about people breaking into their home the night before and
nothing was done about it due to orders from the department's brass.
The Simpsons and Blacks welcomed the kids and forced them to sleep while
Taylor and Betty ate and were put to bed themselves, with the duo
showing signs of being unable to go on any longer thanks to the stress
of seeing their lives shattered. The couple awoke refreshed but were
still feeling depressed as the situation hit home for them when they
went over the list of things destroyed or missing. The only real loss
was Matt's high school and college singlets, with both ripped apart
after being removed from their cases on the wall in his basement gym.
It was a sign to Taylor that she couldn't look back. She was out now and
needed to spread her wings. She was a woman, now was the time to be her
own women even if others didn't accept it.
Dr. Vlad Acula called Taylor to talk, hoping that she was back home but
happy to hear that she was and was willing to talk with him. She sighed
and explained, "After 18 years, I'm ready to be my true self. I can't be
Matt any longer, Taylor Thomas will be who I am from now on."
Dr. Acula happily told her that he'd make the note and would see her in
a bit. She shed a tear at hearing that, he understood her and wasn't
upset at her for transitioning without his approval. Betty kissed her
cheek and offered an encouraging, "He doesn't have to say anything, he
wanted you to do this."
The drive felt like forever, but with Betty's help she made it through
it. In reception, she filled out the forms and got a nod from the
receptionist that Vlad was awaiting her inside. He looked her over and
smiled, telling her warmly, "You haven't changed a bit. You are
stunning."
Vlad asked her point blank, "Are you finally going to stop fighting your
inner self and be the woman that you should have been when you were 13?"
Taylor nodded, crying, "I can't go back. I had to out myself to save my
family from being hurt. Betty can still leave me and have a normal life,
but I can't go back. Matt Simpson is gone, I'm only Taylor now."
Betty held her hand and countered, "I'm never leaving you. I love you. I
told you this years ago, even if you are Taylor I'll love you as her. I
don't need another man, I need my wife. You did your job, you got me
pregnant three times. You fathered three children and they will love
their mothers no matter what anyone says about us."
Taylor looked at her in shock, with Betty nodding and adding, "I'm late.
I was planning on telling you Sunday night but King just had to go and
ruin it for us. I don't need a test to prove me right, I know how it
feels. It's the five of us, I love you and your children will love you."
She was in tears, Vlad added, "She hasn't changed a bit in the 18 years
that I've known you. She told you all those years ago that she loved
Taylor as much as Matt and would be your wife even if you had to become
your inner woman. She's devoted to you, this is true love."
Vlad had Taylor make an appointment with her doctor then told her about
a friend of his who was an endocrinologist so she could start down her
road to being a woman physically. He wasn't going to lie to her, she
would be looking at a long road and facing an uphill battle. It was
going to be tough, but it was also going to lead to Taylor being happy
with who she was.
At the Simpson home, the kids hugged their mothers before going back to
play with their cousins. The Blacks had a dour expression on their faces
and explained that Richard had gotten into fights over the announcement,
with the boy taking out several attackers but enduring threats of
suspensions for others trying to harm him. Richard had the support of
Principal Erickson but he faced pressure from parents who wanted Richard
expelled due to his sister-in-law's unwanted lifestyle, "Choice."
The students felt pity for Richard and gave him space while talking
behind his back, with his girlfriend Nora defending him from people who
wanted to take him out of the picture socially. She was adamant that he
didn't deserve the flak he was getting because they had problems with
how others lived their lives, hitting the complainers right where it
hurts. His ex-girlfriend Mary was the worst complainer, telling anyone
who would hear how Richard's brother-in-law was a pervert who had tried
once to molest her but then was forced to retract her claims and admit
that she made it all up when Nora told how she had never actually met
Taylor and, in fact, was talking about her own uncle- someone who was
actually in prison for the crime.
Nora loved Richard, with Richard happily telling her that he loved her
but wouldn't go beyond kissing with her. He explained his sexual history
with Maria, his favorite wrestler Impossible's niece to her, blushing as
she asked, "Really? Anal sex with her? Not that I have a problem with
it, it just seems like you were trying a little too hard."
He nodded, then added, "I had just broken up with Mary and Maria had
never had a boy who had shown her that she was beautiful. Maria is
beautiful, and her boyfriend can't get enough of her beautiful body. He
gives her pleasure, but won't go further than a hand job. Thankfully,
she's going to undergo her final surgery this summer so she can feel
complete."
He had love in his eyes, but it was clear that it was friendly love and
not the same look he gave to Nora. She kissed him deeply, telling him,
"Graduation can't come fast enough. I love you, Richard."
The Blacks pretended not to hear that last part but knew that their baby
boy was all grown up and was in a loving relationship with a beautiful
young woman. He had grown a lot in the last few months, it was tough to
not see how much he took after his sister-in-law and older brother but
also how much he was their son in how he acted towards others. He was
Taylor's biggest supporter even if she was not in her best mindset and
wouldn't listen to reason, she would listen to him and follow his
recommendation.
Taylor was his ear after the tough day at school, letting him cry into
her shoulder while he told her about the cruel things that the kids at
school were saying and how close to the edge he actually was. If not for
Nora he would have hurt those who trashed Taylor, but her loving embrace
calmed him down. Taylor listened and happily told him, "You are so much
like your sister, she did the same thing whenever the girls in school
trash talked me. She loves you more than you will ever know. Just don't
go rushing into sex, just ask your brother about being a father while in
college- it ain't fun!"
Richard nodded in agreement, he didn't remember it but he had seen it on
other guys who became teen fathers in high school. Taylor was starting
to calm herself as she talked with Richard, she could always calm
herself around him and loved the long talks that they had with one
another. The two just sat silent for several hours, with Taylor falling
asleep next to him as he did his homework.
The Blacks didn't try to wake her for dinner, she needed the rest and
the stress of her appointment with Vlad had taken the last of her energy
that day. Richard's plight was the final straw, it was taxing her mind
to not yell at him for fighting her battles but he somehow knew what she
was thinking. She slept through the night and awoke the next morning
only when Richard picked up his books from next to her.
That day was spent on her finances and calling her doctor for an
appointment. She got the first one of the day and had to rush to the
office but it was worth it as her doctor read Vlad's report and
conducted a normal physical, telling her that she was fit and that it
was going to be a prime candidate to transition right away. He approved
of her endocrinologist referral, agreeing with Vlad's choice as she was
a great doctor who had handled quite a few transitioning patients like
her.
The next stop was the endocrinologist, who refused to believe that
Taylor wasn't a natural female but as she saw her body she smiled and
let it go. Taylor wasn't offended, she had given Taylor one of the best
reactions that she could have hoped for. Her examination was brief and
after some blood drawn, Taylor was given her first dosage of estrogen.
Taylor was in tears as the doctor administered the dose. Taylor left
with a band-aid on her arm and a big smile on her face. At home, she
kissed Betty deeply and told her, "It's begun!"
Taylor spent the rest of the week at home, with her in-laws giving her
space. The kids were happy to be spending a lot of time with her but
Vinny grew upset when Taylor told him that he would have to go back to
school soon. Davis giggled at his brother's reaction until he was told
that he would have to go to daycare as well, Their parents may not be
working but the boys needed to interact with other kids.
The boys were told about their mother having another baby, which led to
them cheering and hoping for a little sister. Betty and Taylor asked
why, with Vinny telling them, "You have boys, it's not fair to only have
boys." In his nearly six-year-old logic, it was his way of saying Betty
needed a little girl to love.
Betty was in tears while Taylor had to fight her own, blaming the
hormones but Vinny could always do that to her whenever he acted like
his mother with his surprising logic. Davis went along with whatever his
brother said, but he was just fine with a baby girl. He was the baby of
the family, now he was going to be a big brother and wanted to tell the
world that he was a big boy now in full.
Betty showed Taylor her confirmation that she was pregnant, with Taylor
hugging her deeply. She told Betty that they need to tell their parents
soon, with Betty smirking and telling him that Hank, Lillian, and their
two children were coming over in a bit. All 13 Simpson and Black family
members would be present for the announcement, with Betty hoping that
she didn't let loose the news too early.
The family assembled in the yard and saw Betty tell them all, "We got
frisky during our long drives. It wasn't planned but one of Taylor's
swimmers hit its mark. We are going to have a baby in seven and a half
months. We are all hoping for a girl, with the boys happily telling us
they want a girl for our sake."
The family hugged one another, with Taylor letting Betty enjoy her
spotlight. She was in tears as she was told that they hoped that she was
having a girl, especially as she deserved a chance to show her feminine
side. Ginny Black wasn't offended by that remark, she was a bit of a
tomboy and wasn't happy with a lot of the girly things that others did
and knew how much her mother and aunt loved girly things.
The focus turned to Taylor and her appointments. She looked at Betty who
nodded, which led to Taylor telling them all, "I met with the doctor and
got his approval to begin transitioning. He referred me to the
endocrinologist who approved me for hormones. I got my first dose
already and filled the prescription. It's going to take a while, but I'm
going to become a woman in body to match my inside."
The family was happy to hear the news of Taylor's full transition. Wally
and Nancy asked if they were still going to use the "Thomas" name or
were they going to adopt the "Simpson" name, to which Taylor looked down
in shame and mumbled, "I was hoping to use 'Turner' instead. Everyone
knows the truth, if I'm 'Turner' I might get some people to back off. As
a Simpson or as a Thomas then I'm fair game for anyone trying to get
their hits in while they still can."
She waited for her parents to react, but Wally nodded and added, "Your
grandparents aren't going to like it but they have made no effort to be
part of your life anyway. If he approves then it's your heritage, lay
claim to it and make him proud of you. You earned your place in the
family, even if you didn't know it you have as much right to the name as
your four younger cousins."
She steeled herself and called Vince, hoping to catch him at a good time
but fearing the worst. Vince was in the middle of a planning session but
accepted the call, listening to Taylor's request and telling her firmly,
"It's your family name now. You don't have to ask, I appreciate that you
felt compelled to but I told you before that you are family. Why don't
you spend time up here and all of us can get used to one another while
things sort themselves out down in Florida. I'd rather you be close and
enjoy us than being alone down there among those who want to hurt you. I
don't trust that Harry Waite fellow one bit, he still owes you for
humiliating him in front of the world by outing him to ASPN."
The Turners had a palatial estate in New Jersey that had a private
helipad, pool, theater, multimedia center, and a dozen bedrooms. It was
located a short helicopter ride from the GCW global headquarters in New
York, but far enough away from other homes to be unnoticed and
unhindered by fans. Taylor had never been there before, but her father
had been there numerous times and treated well by the staff putting
those visits into a new perspective after the big reveal of his true
parentage.
Vince warned Taylor that her cousins were staying there while their
mother dealt with the issues of her ex-husband being in jail awaiting
trial. She understood and told him that she'd leave the second that they
felt uncomfortable but he laughed at that. His only replay was, "They
need a hard lesson in what it is to be a good person and not what their
father believes is good. You are what he hated: smart, pretty, talented,
fast, agile, and have an eye for the business. They will either accept
he was wrong or will have a lot of time to themselves as they aren't
getting anywhere near the GCW with his attitude."
He told her that he had his Florida legal team at work helping her with
insurance claims and forcing the police to actively seek the people
responsible for trashing her house and that they had filed for a change
of name request and would have that finalized immediately given the fact
that she was a public figure who would have issues with her old name
being used. He then told her that she had a job in the ring with NEW and
GCW whenever she wanted but he was hoping that she would wait until she
had her surgery so there was no denying what she was especially to those
who would say otherwise. It was the best she could have hoped for, she
had a job and he approved of her going all the way to the end.
She was told to pack for two months, he'd handle tutoring the kids and
would have work for her to do as well. She was taken aback but happily
agreed to go, letting Vince arrange things on his end while she told the
family the news. Wally just nodded while Nancy smiled brightly at Vince
invoking the family card on her, with Betty reluctantly agreeing to it
but leaving Taylor to tell the boys.
Richard was the only one who was put off by the four going north, he
wanted to go as well but he was stuck staying put and finishing his
classes so he could graduate that June. They would return for the
ceremony, it was better to just go away for a while and let things
settle before they got too out of hand for the Blacks and Simpsons. He
needed to focus on school and keeping busy with Nora, Taylor being next
door he was going to be harassed by "friends" until he brought them over
to see what she looked like as a woman causing him unwanted distractions
and issues.
The boys weren't happy but didn't mind that they could swim and ride
horses at the Turner house. It was Vince's wife Patty's favorite
activity, done to relieve the stress of Vince's constant trips and to
give her something to do whenever she wasn't in the office. She was a
great rider, with Wally telling how she showed off just for him and made
Vince look bad by besting him in multiple races.
The Turner family jet met the family at the airport, with the boys
rushing inside and staring in awe at the small size and how different it
was from the RV. They treated it like the RV, watching a movie while
drinking juices then falling asleep while Betty and Taylor relaxed. They
turned down drink offers from the flight attendant, she understood
Taylor's no alcohol policy and smiled at Betty's being pregnant.
The plane landed and they were immediately met by a limo that would take
them to the Turner home. Their bags were placed in a separate van, with
it going ahead of them while they took a longer routing that didn't
require many turns. The driver told them that it would have been better
to take the helicopter directly there but with so much luggage it was
easier on the family, with Betty not liking the idea and with Davis
being so young it wasn't the best mode of transportation anyway.
The house was larger than expected but it fit in with the theme of the
Turners as being larger than life. He loved the layout of the garden and
lawn, with a large backyard area that had large trees and plenty of
space to run around and be alone. The boys stayed close to their
mothers, but the urge to run wild was strong in them and they gave
pleading looks to them in hopes of being allowed to run wild.
Vince's wife Patty greeted them while her grandchildren Chase and Ollie
looked like they'd rather not be there at all. The two said hello and
walked off, not liking "the freak" being there nor happy that she was
trying to act like she was "one of them" and was "sponging off grandpa."
Patty shook her head in disappointment and tried to apologize for their
behavior, but Taylor just let it go.
Patty showed the four around the house and to their rooms. The boys were
sharing a room, with the duo happy to have a big bed to lay in even if
they would struggle to climb in and out. They asked about the two boys,
Patty happily told them, "They are typical teenagers so won't disturb
either of you."
Their clothes were put away and the boys were finally allowed to run out
back, with the two told to stay away from the trees or else they'd end
up climbing them and get stuck or end up getting hurt on one of the many
natural boulders that lay among the trees. They were wild and enjoyed
their runs, chasing one another while racing and finally falling down on
the grass. Patty had a huge grin on her face as she saw the boys acting
the way they were, it was different with them than with either Ollie or
Chase as they didn't suppress their childish impulses and enjoyed
running wild.
Ollie and Chase looked like they were disgusted at the boys acting so
childish, complaining that they are a couple of poor fools who didn't
know their place. Patty happily asked the duo just what that was as
neither of them had any money nor was they better than their cousins
because their mother is rich. She had called their bluff, they were just
a couple of brats whose grandparents took in while Stacy was sifting
through her husband's finances and taking him to cleaners to save their
sons' financial futures.
They glared at her, to which she happily stated, "You are 14 and 12 yet
you act like you are too old for such childishness. On the contrary, you
have been behaving like petulant brats since you moved here. It isn't
your fault that your father is a criminal who tried to harm your own
family nor is it your fault that your mother chose her nephew over her
husband, the same husband who slept with women in every city that he
wrestled in and who had abandoned a wife and children in another city to
date your mom when she became available after breaking up with her
longtime boyfriend from college. You have to accept that your father is
a terrible man. Those two boys have been forced away from their home by
people who want to harm your cousin because of what she is. They haven't
done anything to you, they don't even know you. They are trying to be
normal kids and are acting like a six and three-year-old."
The two sulked in their rooms. Patty sighed and cursed their father for
his actions. She was trying to be a good grandmother but it was tough to
undo 14 years of bad behavior instilled in them.
The boys tired themselves out and saw Davis go down for a nap while
Vinny enjoyed some TV in the theater then fell asleep in his seat. Patty
was a genius, she knew kids better than anyone and knew how to get them
to rest even when they didn't want to. Taylor looked at her oddly but
saw Patty snicker and tell her, "I've been through this with you and
your cousins before. You did the same things backstage at the arenas and
slept too many times on Vince's couch while your parents were busy
working. I may not have been around you a lot thanks to holding down
things in New York, but I did see you do that stuff."
She didn't remember any of that, Patty happily told her, "I remember
back when you were seven and fell asleep in the ladies' locker room
curled up in the corner holding a doll that you had found. You were in a
dress and bra and had been dancing for them, acting like you were doing
the hula to keep them happy and give them a nice distraction. You fell
asleep and I carried you to the office so you weren't disturbed,
watching you while your aunt and uncle teased me about caring for you so
much. I may not be your grandmother by birth, but I always did treat you
like I treat your cousins and got the needed experience in dealing with
young kids from you. Your aunt and uncle were jealous, I treated you
better than them but then again I was 'grandma' to you and not mom."
Taylor had to fight tears at hearing that, with Patty hugging then
kissing her as she wept over the scene. It meant a lot to her to hear
Patty say that, she loved to play backstage but didn't remember any of
that. It was her first forays into dressing like a girl and she tried to
suppress the memories, most of them she had been successful in
suppressing but a few lingered in the back of her mind for years.
Taylor sniffled and said, "Darn hormones" causing Patty and Betty to
laugh at her trying to hide some of the emotions that were being dug up.
Betty happily explained to her, "It's not the hormones, trust me on
this- you will know when it's them. It's just you seeing that they cared
about you back then and I know it's one of the things that Vince knew
about when he talked with your mother when you started to dress as a
girl again back when we first met."
The boys came by looking for their grandmother and listened to the
touching story and unintentionally let out an insulting, "Always a freak
according to dad. It's lucky he didn't try to do something to the ladies
when he was in the locker room. He said he was creepy and looked like he
wanted to do things to them until he got him kicked out."
The boys stopped in their tracks as they watched their grandmother turn
around, walk towards them, and ask them firmly, "Just what has your
father been telling you all of these years about your cousin? And yes,
she is your cousin. She's your uncle's daughter, your father has known
that since she was born. He might not have been acknowledged as his son,
but your grandfather treated him like one. Your father saw her growing
up from a baby to a young lady. Yes, she is transgender. She has never
once acted like a boy and has never done any improper things towards the
laides- unlike the two of you."
She turned to Taylor and explained, "These two were caught hiding in the
locker room trying to catch a glimpse of the ladies. They were run off
but tried to sneak in again, with the two laughing as they were dragged
out by the ladies. Unlike your being there, this was the work of two
horny kids. You were in the locker room but you never did anything
disrespectful and helped the ladies far too many times to count. If you
didn't dress like a girl they would have mistaken you for being gay, not
that they minded either way. Those two gloated that they could do
whatever they wanted since their father was the one who ran the company,
but did so in front of their mother and grandfather. That was this past
summer, they haven't gone to a single event since and was why I wasn't
in Boston for Wrestlecade to be with you. I couldn't leave them alone
and I sure as hell wasn't taking them and risking their becoming a
bargaining chip for their father to get a lighter sentence."
They glared at Patty but she then added, "Just because she is
transgender doesn't make her a pervert. On the contrary, what you two
were about to do was. Don't think they didn't see where your hands were
as they dragged you out. You have no respect for women and you have some
balls making her out to be what you already are. Your mother is ashamed
of you, as are your grandfater, your uncle, and me."
She sent them on their way, telling Taylor happily, "Your uncle Percy is
happy for you even if he can't be here that often. He's a good man, he
just doesn't have much time for the family drama thanks to his heading
GCW Studios out in California. He might have some work for you if you
want to do a film or two for us, it's not acting but you'd get credit
and be able to stay in shape while you sort out the next step for you.
His wife is fine with your transition, she's lived in LA long enough to
have met quite a few transgender people and has actively campaigned for
their receiving more roles in movies."
Percy barely knew Taylor, she had only met him maybe six or seven times
in her life, yet he was trying to help her. She felt compelled to agree
if only to appease Patty. Patty sensed her need and added, "The actress
hired for the movie is your size and shape but isn't as good with
fighting as you would be. It's a few days on set but she's a sweet
woman. Trust me, she will be pleased to meet you."
Betty encouraged her to agree, it sounded like something that she could
enjoy doing and she had plenty of time to film her scenes and return to
New Jersey. Taylor didn't want to leave her alone with the kids but she
wasn't going to be alone, she had Patty to help and might have Ollie and
Chase if she could get through to the duo. She was the best equipped to
talk to them, she was an older sister to a teen and a good listener and
knew that deep inside the boys were rebelling against their mother's
rules.
Patty called Percy and got her son to talk with Taylor for a while.
Taylor asked all of the right questions that you'd expect a stunt
performer to ask, but mostly she was gauging his reaction to her. He
wasn't in a foul mood and he was genuinely trying to be helpful, he
wasn't upset at her probing his reaction.
She listened as he laid out the material and how she was going to do
things, then told her that she had to meet the actress before she
started as the actress wasn't keen on anyone performing who wasn't able
to perform the stunts. She didn't want someone getting hurt on her
behalf, if Taylor couldn't do them then she wasn't going to let Taylor
set foot on the set.
The boys woke and sought out their mothers, causing them to stop talking
and feed them lunch. Ollie and Chase were found and dragged down to eat,
with the duo complaining about interrupting the, "Fun" that the two were
having. Patty smirked and casually told them, "Less of that stuff, you
will break them if you keep rubbing them so often. You have plenty of
time to do that when you are on your own."
The boys turned a deep shade of red while Betty casually added, "Don't
worry boys, once you get a real girlfriend the novelty wears off."
Taylor wisely didn't say a word, knowing that the boys were on the verge
of fainting from embarrassment. Patty happily continued on, "If they
keep treating women the way they do it'll be a cold day in hell before
they get a real girlfriend. For two handsome young men, they sure act
like they are an Adonis. They may be big in their pants but are small in
their minds."
Taylor burst into a full laugh when the boys had tears streaming down
their faces from the humiliation that their grandmother was heaping on
them. It was a well-deserved humiliation and would go a long way towards
straightening them out. They kept silent throughout the meal, the only
sounds heard were the occasional muffled chew and slurp as they focused
on anything except their humiliation.
After the meal, Taylor went up to the boys' rooms and asked to talk with
them. She had to nip things in the bud and give the boys a dose of
reality or else they may end up saying or doing the wrong thing to the
wrong person and actually upset their grandparents and mother,
especially now that they had a big target on their backs due to their
father. She saw the real side of the boys, they missed their father and
wanted things to return to how they used to be but sadly that wasn't
going to happen.
They were shocked that they would be so bold but knew not to refuse as
she held their freedom in her hands. She boldly asked, "Why do you
dislike me? Is it because I'm transgender?"
Ollie took charge and shot back, "Dad told us that you were a fraud. You
fooled grandpa into letting you tell everyone what to do and got him
removed because he tried to stand up to you. Dad hasn't lied to us
before, he never lies to us about what he does."
Chase then added, "Dad hates fags and trannies. He said you are a freak
who gets away with what you do because grandpa is trying to hide his
affairs. He said you aren't really his grandson, your father isn't his
son. He said your grandmother made up the story because she got caught
by her husband with his best friend. He met your grandfather, he told
dad all about what your grandmother did and why it's a lie. He made your
uncles know just what happened so they'd keep your dad away from the
family."
She could see the crux of the matter: they were raised on a bunch of
lies. King Reign was a notorious liar who'd say something to your face
while secretly planning something else and making you look like a fool
for believing what he told you. The truth behind the divide was now
known, King had caused the Simpsons to split with Wally being forced out
while his siblings shunned him for years.
She sighed then asked the toughest question, "Do you actually believe
that I'm not a real woman? Do you believe that I'm a pervert trying to
become a woman so I can leer at them? Or is it only what your father
told you about transgender people and you don't know for yourselves how
you really feel?"
The boys were stumped. Ollie got the courage to speak and mumbled, "We
never met one before. We see them online and had to read about some of
them but we never met any. Our school made us do a research project and
I got stuck looking into trannies but all I found was stuff that made
dad's claims not make sense. He's never wrong, he never lies to us."
She asked him to show her what he found, leading to him showing a bunch
of articles on the group that Taylor had met two weeks before: the Finn
Foundation. She smiled at reading the articles, telling him, "I met
these people in person. Several of the kids that were at the event are
transgender and you'd never know that they were. There's a lot of people
who are like the women you see online but most of us are just regular
people who just want to live normal lives. You know this, you read it in
the articles."
She looked at Chase who looked away in shame. She offered a warm, "Your
father fears what he can't control. He fears your grandfather and your
mother. He feared me. I was just a kid like the two of you but I earned
the trust of a lot of people while he had to do a lot of shady things to
get his power. He is the kind of person who would happily lie about what
he was doing then make you take the blame for it while he tried to claim
that he tried to stop you from doing it. All I did was make suggestions
for what to do based on what I had seen going on in the ring. Anyone
would have done what I did, especially your father. But he didn't do
that, he couldn't be bothered to pay attention to others. Instead, he
got the people around him to do what he wanted and had them take the
blame for his failures while he would take the credit for their
successes."
The boys looked at her in shame, she added, "He used to beat-up
wrestlers then force them to sign bad contracts just so he can claim
that he signed certain people for a low price. He used to force
wrestlers to pay him to book them into the good matches while he stole
the spotlight from them. He wouldn't let the women wrestle on pay-per-
views unless they were in bras and panties then had them do a series of
gimmick matches. He had them perform sexual acts on him while your
mother was pregnant with the two of you, all to get themselves on TV
more often. He made sure that others got the blame when your grandfather
sniffed around, but finally got caught when I spoke up about what I saw
and knew."
She finally looked them in the eye and told them, "The worst thing he
did was get addicted to drugs. He was caught with Dr. Bien Sentismo, a
notorious drug doctor and who caused issues with the GCW due to his
nasty deals. He was banned from the GCW by your grandfather because he
was a danger to the wrestlers but your father brought him back several
times without your grandfather approving. It's why he hasn't wrestled in
18 years. It's why he was sent to work out of the main office. It's why
you two are alive: he used your births as leverage to keep his power.
You two were pawns, ones taht your mother and grandfather wouldn't let
get used for. It's why your grandmother hasn't been far away from you-
he would use you to harm your mother and grandfather. That's the real
man, not what you believed."
Chase complained that the doctor was his father's friend, Taylor
countered with, "He's not his friend, he's his dealer. They hide their
true relationship but he's no more his friend than I am. He lost his
license in several states due to suspicions of overprescribing
medications. He is currently in jail awaiting trial for drug possession
and drug trafficking. He got your father addicted and used his addiction
to bolster his client base by having others use him as their source. I
almost hate to say it, but I'm responsible for your being created. If I
hadn't told your grandfather about the doctor being close to your father
then he never would have been sent to the corporate office and you two
would never have been conceived."
The boys groaned at that, but it was the truth: they were the result of
King and Stacy being together all of the time while he worked out of
their corporate offices with the writing staff. She happily added, "You
two were why your father stayed with the company for so long despite
your father being a terror to the company, your grandfather couldn't get
rid of him without harming the two of you. He cooled his jets for a
while but once you were in school he started going after me again. He
didn't care that it'd hurt you two, as long as he got his revenge on me
then taking down the Turner family was no big deal."
She let that sink in, with Chase asking her bluntly, "Did you really
have your balls chopped off? Did you really have a sex change and only
wrestled as a guy because you are banned from wrestling with the women?
And are those fake?"
The 12-year-old in him was starting to simmer to the surface allowing
her the chance to show them that her transition was a lot more
complicated than they think. She happily explained, "No, I wasn't
castrated. I still have my testicles but they could be removed in the
near future if there are issues with the level of my hormones. As for
the sex change, no I haven't had it yet. I only just officially started
transitioning. I can't have it for at least a year, there are rules in
place to stop a quick surgery as doctors need to know for sure that you
are able to cope with the surgery and the permanence of it."
The next reveals would cause both to gasp in shock. She smiled and
added, "As for being banned from competing as a woman, it's not true. I
actually competed under the name 'Ara?a' while with my former company
and as 'Dawn Rae' as an emergency fill-in for the ladies division in
NEW."
She showed them a match, with Ara?a causing the two to gasp in shock at
how much of a woman she looked like and never seeing any sign of a bulge
in her singlet. She smiled at their reaction, she had no idea that she
could have that kind of sexual effect on a boy. It felt great, even if
they were her cousins.
She showed the new Ara?a and told them, "Since I wore a bodysuit you'd
have to look at her neck and hands to see that she's darker than me.
She's an amazing woman and very pretty. If you are nice your grandmother
might let you go see her in action down in Orlando at the next pay-per-
view. The same goes for her friends, Tanya and Anya. Those two are
simply gorgeous."
She got a bold idea and showed them a picture of Maria, her mentor
Impossible's niece. The boys asked what the big deal was, to which
Taylor happily told them, "She's like me. She's been on hormones since
she was 12. She's an amazing young woman with a great boyfriend. She
stupidly had sex with my brother-in-law but both of them got in trouble
for that."
The boys looked at her with a disgusted look. Taylor teased them,
telling them, "Yes, they did it the way you think they did it. He was
trying to be a good host and the two had a mutual lust for one another.
It was all a big bit of teen hormonal fog, she had never had a boy
showing her any kind of attention while he had just broken up with his
girlfriend after finding her in bed with his best friend. She's a sweet
girl, she has turned down modeling offers so she could focus on school.
She's beautiful but she also had to endure a lot of bad years. If not
for her uncle knowing me and telling her about women who couldn't
transition like she was about to do she would have killed herself."
That caused the boys to gasp in shock, but she nodded and added, "It's
the sad truth. Her uncle got her the help that she needed, just as your
uncle got his in-laws to get me the help that I needed. I was able to
hold off my feelings and use other outlets such as dressing, but she
wasn't. I dressed in private for years, while she lived openly as a girl
and developed into the buxom beauty that you are leering over. By the
way, she will also be at the show next month thanks to her having
vacation and her uncle now being back in the GCW fulltime. She'd love to
talk with you about girls like us if you are up to it."
The boys tried to hide their excitement but it was pretty clear. She
left them to ponder their talk and ask their grandmother the truth about
their father another time. There were enough seeds of doubt planted into
their minds to cause them to have to go to Patty for answers, answers
she would be glad to give.
Taylor walked the grounds for a while as she cleared her mind and tried
to ponder why anyone would want her to be a stunt double for a movie.
She hoped the actress was alright with her being transgender and hoped
that the crew wasn't upset when they learned about her. It was going to
be tough to endure, being so far away and leaving the kids behind for a
week with people who disliked her while knowing that the woman who could
rightfully claim to be her grandmother kept them company.
Patty was going to ask about Taylor but was stopped by Betty offering a
warm, "She's thinking and if she is doing that then she's torn inside.
It's probably about the movie and how the crew will react to her. I
trust your son's instincts but I don't trust the crews and their
reaction to her. They are unionized so they can pretty much do a lot of
things that would ruin the careers of anyone else if they took offense
to Taylor, they have nothing to lose from causing her misery out there."
The boys were kept occupied by swimming, with the two loving the
attention that they received from Patty. Ollie and Chase saw her look
and were jealous, but seeing how they were acting and how the two had
tried for years to act like, "Men" so their father would approve of them
they seemed to see why the boys were getting the attention from their
grandmother. The more they watched, the more they felt like their father
had been wrong about everything as so far what he had said about Taylor
and women and how you should treat other people who weren't as rich and
powerful as them.
The two stewed in their rooms and read online what people actually
thought about their father and their mother. What he had said about
Stacy was nothing like the perception that people of her online, the
meek easily led woman was viewed as smart and powerful and the real
power behind the GCW. To the surprise of them, most saw their father as
a manipulative climber who used everyone he could to get to the top then
backed down when he was confronted by someone who wasn't afraid of him.
Their father was a big, strong man who wasn't afraid of anyone. They
read about how he used stronger wrestlers to bully the smaller guys but
those who were as strong physically or who had training as an amateur
wrestler or in martial arts forced them to back down and leave others
alone. Guys whom they thought of as, "Uncles" were talked about as huge
bullies and those who they had been told were losers were seen as heroes
to everyone, with Impossible and Matt Simpson being the biggest heroes
of all.
Matt Simpson stood out to them, their cousin was the smallest non-female
wrestler in the GCW yet he had the ability to make the toughest guys run
in fear. They read about his background and what he had done compared
with everyone else in the GCW and while many had won black belts in
martial arts there were only a few had won a wrestling championship.
Matt was feared for a valid reason.
The legacy of King Reign was mostly him forcing others out of
competition or hurting them while he took their spots in the
championship runs. He wasn't that good as a wrestler, he was average at
best. The boys saw the real side of their father and didn't like it,
that was before his personal life was known.
The two watched their cousin again and had trouble keeping up the
animosity towards her. She was the one person in the GCW that you didn't
want to mess with yet she was doing the one thing no guy could ever
bring himself to do: give up his manhood. She was an enigma to them, it
was causing everything that they knew about women and genders to get
tossed out the window.
The two had spent so much time reading and thinking that they never
noticed that it was time to eat. The maid got their attention and got
them to stop their internal stewing while forcing them to go down to the
dining room and eat like normal people instead of in their rooms as they
had been. She had been part of the staff at the house long enough to
know that they needed this as much as anything, they were on the verge
of a breakthrough regarding their father and needed their grandmother's
advice.
The two were silent during the meal, but Patty sensed something had
happened to them in their rooms. She looked at the maid who shook her
head at Patty thinking the worst, they weren't masturbating in the rooms
again as she believed. The boys were quiet and kept stealing glances at
Taylor, which was enough to give Patty a clue about what was bothering
the two especially as it was a good sign.
The boys went back to their rooms but were stopped by Patty asking to
speak with them alone. Taylor took Davis and Vinny to the pool to enjoy
an evening swim and tire them out so they'd go to bed while Betty
relaxed in a chair alongside the pool. She was starting to tire easily,
one of the things that she had always hated about being pregnant with
the boys.
The trio sat in the solarium overlooking the pool and watched Taylor and
the boys swim, with Ollie and Chase feeling weird that they were
reacting to someone that they knew wasn't a, "Real" woman yet who was as
good looking as her wife. She had no bulge in her swimsuit, her boobs
were obviously fake but she had a body that was amazing. Her muscles
were large but were toned instead of bulging.
Sensing that Taylor was the topic, Patty asked if they found out just
what everyone thought about her and their father. Ollie asked, "Did he
really threaten and intimidate everyone to get to where he was? He tried
to hurt a lot of wrestlers and used their injuries to get ahead?"
Patty nodded, sat them in a chair, and confessed to them, "He was one of
the top young stars when he was brought into the GCW from Impact of
Honor. He had the 'look' your grandfather believed was the key to
success. He was wrong, King Reign was just a fraud who tricked the
owners into giving him as many shots as possible while threatening the
writers with harm if they tried to make him look bad. He kept all of
that hidden, he didn't do it in front of others but it got out
eventually. By then, it was too late as he was established at the top.
We tried everything to make others look good and take him out of the
picture but nothing worked- he got popular and drew too much heat to
ignore."
She sighed and grew somber, explaining, "He dated your mom for several
years, using her as a way of getting your grandfather to give him his
breaks and use him where others were better suited. He cost a lot of
guys their shots, the biggest being Impossible. He tried to hurt
Impossible but he didn't know that Impossible had a background in boxing
and learned martial arts from Killer Gagne before Killer's knee gave
out. He got hurt badly by Impossible's punches to his jaw and ended up
spending a year out of the ring while he recovered. He stayed with your
mom and enjoyed the benefit of being her lover. She grew closer to him,
her infatuation turning to love and eventually they became lovers."
The boys cringed, which she snickered at seeing. They were two horny
young boys but the idea of their parents having sex sent them running
scared. It was a bit of ribbing by her but it was part of the story.
She continued, "When he returned, he was addicted to painkillers and saw
Dr. Bien Sentismo for a while before the good doctor got in trouble or
causing an overdose of painkillers in a young patient. We had him banned
from being around any of our wrestlers, but King was able to do as he
pleased thanks to his close relationship with your mother. He stuck
close to Dr. Sentismo until Taylor caught them together. She was banned
from being with her parents and sent to live with her maternal
grandparents. King ran wild in the GCW until a chance encounter in
Orlando reunited Taylor with her parents, your grandfather, and your
mother, Taylor's godmother alongside being her aunt. Taylor confessed to
your mother and grandfather where she had been and just what King had
done and why and got him booted from in-ring activities. It's why he
never won another title, he was kicked out of action and sent to New
York to oversee the writing and set up the NEW while things were sorted
out in the GCW to fix the problems that he had actually caused."
The boys sensed there was more to the story, Patty smiled and nodded and
added, "He spent several years in New York with your mom. You two came
along during this time. Your father was forced to stop acting like a
child and act like a man. He held a lot of terrible beliefs that he
instilled in others but he had to act like a man around the corporate
offices. Sadly, he still influenced people so there were a lot of fights
over wrestlers that he instigated but he stopped all of his antics
overtly. He had a hand in running things but had to lay off of any of
Taylor's writing and all of Taylor's producing. She's a great producer,
we owe her a lot for contributions to the matches over the years."
She finally sighed and added, "You two were raised the wrong way. You
don't force your views on anyone, especially those who you disagree
with. You don't treat women like sex objects, you treat them like
people. You are finding out that people aren't as they seem and you have
to get to know them to see the real person. Taylor is a brilliant mind
in the world of pro wrestling and could write screenplays if she wanted
to yet she chooses to be part of the in-ring action. She's smaller than
men but that's genetic and in her case, it worked out for her mentally.
She's a woman inside, her body just hasn't matured yet to show that
she's a woman. She's not a freak or deviant, she's a great person who
has helped countless people in both her medical career and in the
wrestling business."
She smiled and finally explained, "She's a medical doctor, as is Betty.
Both gave up careers for Taylor to be a wrestler. Taylor is a fully
qualified sports medicine specialist and Betty is an emergency medicine
specialist. Both are amazing people. Taylor just wants to be herself,
she never asked to be part of our family yet she is family by birth and
through your mother. She always saw your mother as an aunt, it's why she
is so close to your mom. She's a member of our family in full, she's a
Turner by blood. Your father may have believed that he'd inherit the GCW
from your grandfather, but it's going to your mom and your uncles. The
trio are the heart and soul of GCW, your father was just someone trying
to hurt it until he could swoop in and take over for himself. That's not
happening, it's staying in the family and in his own words he was never
part of the family. It's why you are Turner and not Reign, you three are
the heirs of the next generation. Your uncle Percy's son and daughter
are as well. We never wanted any of you kids to be involved, yet Taylor
became part of it on her own. In a few years, you can be too."
She knew the next questions and beat them to the punch, telling them,
"Your father is in a lot of trouble and it's not due to anything that
Taylor did. Taylor didn't make him hire a man to break into her RV in
Springfield, Massachusetts during the Monday Night Wars show. Taylor
didn't make him come to their hotel room with several wrestlers and
hired local thugs to threaten to take her kids away. Taylor didn't make
her plant drugs that he bought from Dr. Sentismo. Taylor didn't make him
do anything, he did it all on his own. Why? Because she was everything
that he hated: someone who worked hard to get where she is, who was a
great person who was beloved by all who knew her, and who was gifted. He
did his crimes on his own, nobody made him do anything. We would have
simply terminated him because of his actions yet he chose to go further
and try to harm Taylor's family. He ruined the lives of multiple people,
not just your lives. The families of the guys he had try to harm Taylor
in the ring and humiliate her by going public are destroyed because of
him. He didn't care about any of that, only that he was hurting Taylor."
The boys were silent for several minutes as they tried to ponder their
father's actions. Chase asked about what Taylor was doing to her body,
if she didn't have boobs and still had her male parts how was she a
woman now. Patty knew that the boys had finally seen through their
father's influence and were trying to be their own people, this was
actual curiosity from him not him trying to dig up dirt to say that she
wasn't a real woman despite the changes to her.
She smiled and explained, "She is on hormones only. She only just
started to transition. She told you this already but it's worth
repeating, she's still like you in body but she's changing. She might
need breast implants or she might grow on her own but she will have
breasts. She will have surgery next Spring, I believe that she might
wait until the summer so she's fully healed when Davis goes to school.
She's going to be a mother again so she doesn't need to procreate
anymore. Yes, she is the 'father' of the three. She and Betty have never
slept with anyone else. She doesn't look like it yet but Betty is
pregnant, just wait until the morning and see how she looks- it won't be
pretty. Your mom had it bad when she was pregnant with the two of you, I
had it rough as well and I know that Taylor's mother had it bad and
needed me to help her deal with it."
She had unintentionally opened another dialog and let them ask. Chase
asked if Taylor really was their cousin, getting a smile and happy,
"She's your cousin alright. She's her father's daughter. Your uncle
Wally looks like his mother and was raised by his adoptive father so
never knew the truth, but he is a Turner by blood. He's his own man,
he's like your grandfather is so many ways that it's scary. He's
headstrong and loyal and loves his family. He works hard and leads by
example. His mother and your grandfather had a fling a long time ago
that resulted in him, but the two were ashamed and reached an agreement
so his mother's husband would take him in and raise him as his own but
he would get some money from us as he grew. He earned his job at GCW by
being a solid employee at a local theater company in LA and caught the
eye of his predecessor then worked his way up the ranks of the company,
we didn't want him to follow us but he was too good not to keep
employed."
She smiled and added, "He met Nancy in Orlando during a stopover in the
city while we were doing a string of shows for the theme parks, they
fell in love and had Taylor five years after. Nancy joined us and rose
up the ranks on her own, Taylor was always around her and was a happy
baby and little boy but there was something off about him. He dressed
like a girl and wore makeup and did whatever he could to be a girl. We
didn't know the truth, but she was never a boy. It's hard not to see it
in her now, she was always a girl. You two will see it in her, she's a
natural and loves the boys in a way a mother loves her children. It's
her true self. She's a great woman and who just wants to be family to
you. Give her a chance to show that she's not the person that your
father believed her to be, let the real Taylor Turner shine through for
you."
The boys were sent up to their rooms for some heavy thinking and
talking. They had turned the corner in their treatment of Taylor even if
they hadn't said anything. Patty knew her grandsons and could see it in
their eyes, Taylor wasn't going to be mistreated anymore by the boys.
The helipad was active and saw Vince and Stacy enter after their bags
were removed. The two were in a good mood, Stacy grinned and showed that
their lawyers had found all of the money that King had squirreled away
from her. He wasn't as slick as the thought, she had found just about
every penny that he had earned and that was rightfully owned by her,
especially the stocks that he tried to sell that were being held in
trust for their sons- something she quickly voided and cost the broker
her job.
Vince asked about her day, with Patty smiling as she retold the events
of the day. Taylor looked away in shame but Stacy happily told her,
"They are going to be fine. They wanted the truth, they got it. They are
a lot like you, just tell them the truth and they will accept it even if
it hurts for a while."
Vince asked if she was told about the movie, with Taylor asking him
firmly, "Will she be OK with me? I don't want to cause you trouble
because the actress doesn't like people like me. I know the crews will
be covered if they dislike me, but I don't want your studio in trouble
because of me. I don't want you to lose millions because your son wanted
me to take the job."
He tried to hide his laughter while Stacy assured her, "She's a great
young woman. She personally asked for someone like you without knowing
that you'd be able to do it. She's familiar with you and your size is
almost dead-on for her size. She's a great woman, it's going to be her
first major picture and she has the source material down cold. She
should, her mother wrote the books that the movie is based on."
The look she gave to Betty was one of having a secret, which Betty was
sure to ask her after Taylor had left for California. Vince asked about
his namesake and Davis, getting smiles and apologies for when they ran
him over the next day. Patty added a hearty, "They are definitely your
great-grandsons, the poor boys were running around for hours then had
the energy to swim for another two."
He smiled and went ate a late snack before retiring for the night. Stacy
thanked Taylor for being a good person to her sons, Taylor happily told
her, "They needed the hard truth. Your mother did more for them than I
did, she let them come to her. All I did was crack their armor and she
did the rest."
The next morning, Taylor went with Vince to New York to help with
planning events and matches. She was going to be groomed to replace King
in that role, with Taylor being much better suited for it while Stacy
would be the face of the company in King's place and handling much of
the publicity. It was all planned as Taylor would be eased into the
office and groomed to fully replace Vince in the future while Stacy
handled aspects of things that Taylor had little stomach for such as
negotiating network broadcast deals and arena contracts, giving the
company continuity during the power handover.
To her surprise, Percy was in the office looking for Taylor. Percy
introduced his wife and children, who were Skypeing him at that moment,
to her and told her that they were heading to the mansion later so the
family could enjoy some time as one before heading to California. He was
in a good mood and happily told her that she was a perfect fit for the
movie and if they couldn't get her the actress would seriously think
about shelving the movie until they found the perfect stunt double.
Taylor tried to glean information about the actress, but Vince was
tight-lipped and wouldn't let her get a word out of her. He was smart,
she was known to be able to get Stacy or Vince to tell her what she
wanted to know and wasn't afraid to make you squirm until you blurted
out everything from the time you were a baby until that moment. He loved
her to pieces and saw her as family long before he left to be the
family's LA face and never had a problem with her, if not for his job
he'd have destroyed King to save her the indignity of King's actions but
sadly that never happened.
The group went to work as planned, with Taylor letting them do much of
it before she added her input on certain actions to take and when. She
asked if they had the map of what to do and when and the way things
could go if someone was injured or suspended or unable to make a flight
for whatever reason. She wasn't trying to be a smartass, she had her
point and meant that they needed to do a lot more with the plans and
have alternatives ready to go that would allow them to get to their
destination even if they had to take a detour through other wrestlers to
get there.
She had to hold back tears when Vince happily told her, "This is why I
wanted you here, you know how to organize things and make the tough
calls. We know what you are talking about and wanted you to be the one
to the organizing since it's you who is the reason for so many of the
changes. The old way of doing business is buried, King had an eye for
talent but he did things for himself and kept the plotting to a jumbled
mess that needed his input to unravel, you just unraveled months of work
in seconds."
Taylor spent four hours plotting every single movement of talent and
took into account hiring new guys to replace those who are being
released or who are going to be out injured for an extended period. She
herself felt terrible as she saw the original plans for her, ones that
nobody had told her about until then. She was going to be on track to
win the secondary title, the Global Championship, and would have held it
for a year before moving up to the main title in a feud with the current
champion in what was to be the start of the turnover in the GCW from the
old guard to the new guard. All of that was thrown out of the window
because of her having to out herself to the world, forcing them to scrap
all of those plans.
Vince offered her a loving, "You were meant to be the top champion. You
worked harder than anyone else for the worst pay in the worst conditions
while showing that anyone can become a champion if they work hard and
follow their dreams. You might be able to win the women's title if you
choose to, I will not allow anyone to refuse to allow you to wrestle in
the women's division and would happily take the show to the nearest
public park and give the show away for free than let some red neck in a
suit tell me I can't allow you to wrestle in my promotion in his
building."
He was deadly serious, with Taylor forced to tell him, "Not until I'm
whole. I'm sorry Vince but I can't do it until then. Doing it as Ara?a
is one thing, but I can't do it until I'm complete. There would be no
way to say that I wasn't a woman when I have nothing there to show that
I was born in a male's body."
She had a point, he nodded and moved on to other things while Stacy gave
her brother a smirk. She was planning on Taylor's return in the future,
she'd be the perfect woman to lead the division and with her help Stacy
could make things grow to her liking instead of coasting by with the
talent that she had now. Taylor was someone who could carry matches all
on her own and had the look of a woman who wasn't a wrestler yet who
wrestled and had the moves to back it up, unlike a couple of their
female wrestlers.
When they finished they had lunch and met with their marketing people,
several of whom were upset at Taylor being there and tried to ask Vince
to ask Taylor to leave. Vince smiled and asked what their real problem
was, then fired them for violating corporate policy on discrimination.
When they threatened to sue him and ruin the company's good name, Vince
asked on what basis did they have for them and if they were aware of how
many rules they had violated in their requests to remove a VP from the
office.
Taylor gave him an upset look while Stacy whined, "You could have told
her about the job first!" Vince was in classic fashion and told her,
"Oops, it slipped my mind. Yes, you are taking over King's job and are
going to be the final say in all activities in the ring and on TV. You
did much of this already, it's going to be the next step for you beyond
producer- you don't have to actually watch anything, just be the one who
tells the others what to do and when to do it."
With the marketing folks booted Vince had their underlings do the
meeting for them and promoted two after they showed that they were the
true brains of the marking department and had no problem with Taylor
listening to their ideas for the next advertising campaign. With Taylor
out as the one that they had wanted to use, Impossible was chosen to be
the face of the company with the man being a known figure it was worth
focusing on him over others. King was trying hard to keep his image as
the face of the company but with him gone and Taylor unable to do it,
Impossible was the man for the job.
The day ended with Percy finalizing the trip for Taylor. She'd only need
a week's worth of clothes, but it was a different climate so she packed
for it. They had a jet and helicopter waiting for them the next day,
with Vince telling Taylor that the kids were best left at his mansion
while he worked which Taylor agreed with while Betty wasn't sure was
wise.
At the mansion, Vince finally told Taylor, "You don't have to do it just
yet but I'd prefer that you call me 'grandpa' since it's what I am to
you. I know your father isn't going to call me 'dad' but I was hoping
you'd call me what I am to you. Despite being blood you've been like a
granddaughter since birth anyway, it'll only make it official to you."
She shed a tear and agreed, hugging him tightly. She sniffled and
blurted out, "Darn hormones" which he smiled at hearing. Betty led her
off and nodded to Vince, it really wasn't the hormones reacting in her.
The next morning, the boys were told that Taylor was taking a trip
without them. Davis grew scared while Vinny asked, "Why?" from his
mothers. Taylor smiled and explained, "I'm going to do some work on a
movie that your uncle Percy is filming. It's out in California and will
only be a week. I want you to get to know your great-grandmother and
cousins. You also have to do schoolwork, young man."
That caused him to reluctantly agree and moved away before he got into
trouble. She smirked as it was a big smack to his ego as he tried his
hardest to avoid schoolwork while Davis loved doing some of the basic
things like writing and coloring. He took after Betty in that area,
while Davis took after Taylor.
Ollie and Chase came in complaining about Betty's sick sounds coming
from the bathroom. She smiled while Stacy shot back a hearty, "You were
told that she was pregnant, well that's one of the biggest issues that
we have to deal with. Remember that for when your wives are pregnant."
The boys moved off complaining while Stacy told them, "You two have work
to do for school. The boys have to do schoolwork as well so you aren't
alone. I'm working on getting you two into school here so don't think
that you are getting off easy. Your cousin Betty will help you and
ensure you do all of the work that you are assigned so don't think that
you are going to get away with doing less than required."
The mother in Stacy caused Taylor to smile, she hadn't seen that side of
her before and she loved it. She was always great with her, but this was
something else entirely. Stacy was trying to give them a chance to
grieve the loss of their father but the time was over and she wouldn't
let them suffer anymore.
Taylor grabbed her bags and kissed Betty and the boys goodbye, then
caused Ollie and Chase to cringe as she kissed their cheeks. Stacy had
to fight a laugh as the boys looked like they were going to be sick but
it wasn't due to her gender change, it was due to the shock and
embarrassment of the kiss that only tween and teenage boys can give to
being kissed by female family members. They were growing too old for
that kind of affection from anyone who wasn't a potential girlfriend.
Taylor hated the helicopter ride. The jet was ready for her when she
arrived, with Percy taking her bag as she walked up the steps. She
settled in for the long flight, not knowing what to expect in LA.
At the airport, Percy was encompassed by a woman and two teens. Percy
formally introduced his wife Faye and children, Kate and Bart. The trio
walked them to an awaiting limo which took them for a long ride to a
house in an exclusive area along the ocean.
The house was large and had a large front and rear yard, complete with a
pool. Percy happily pointed out that it was the family's LA home, one of
several that they owned across the country. The one in Orlando wasn't
used that often and more than likely was going to become Taylor' new
home if she chose to remain down there to be close to her parents and
in-laws, but she was being given access to the family's New York condos,
their New Jersey estate, as well as their LA house for their use now
that they were fully part of the family.
She was unsure what to say, so let them show her around the various
rooms and settled her into her own room in the residential wing of the
house. The kids went off on their own to talk with friends about their
new cousin visiting but were told to not mention certain things yet.
They understood what he was trying to say and ensured that they didn't
talk about Taylor's gender change but it would get mentioned anyway as
it was known thanks to it being national news.
Percy got down to business and laid out her schedule for the week. He
showed her pictures of who she would be stunting for and asked if she
could read the script to get an idea about what the director was going
to ask her to do for the scenes. She started to read the scenes and got
a visual image of the action, it was a couple of small fights that moved
the story along as the protagonist dealt with her love being the target
of a jealous wealthy woman while the protagonist worked hard to earn her
place in the world.
Taylor knew the book series from when she was in college and would dress
as Taylor on the weekends. It was a tough series to adapt as it could
easily become a typical movie, but with the right director and a good
grasp of the source material, it was a potential Oscar winner. He liked
the idea that it was a great movie in the making, but it was a long way
from being completed and lots could go wrong.
She finally spoke and told him that it was going to be easier than it
looked but the simplest things could be the toughest to film. She didn't
expect any trouble, but it was always possible. The director who was
attached to the movie was notorious for his reshoots and last minute
changes to the script.
They moved on to other things but she had a nagging feeling that he was
just keeping her occupied. She sensed something was up and asked why he
was keeping her there, to which he sighed and stated, "The kids have
friends over. We didn't want you to put up with their questions
especially as their friends can be pushy with people who aren't as lucky
in life as them. Their parents would find any reason to tear you down.
Even if you could counter them, they'd make your life a living hell in
retaliation."
Taylor gave him an angry look then countered, "I've lived with people
thinking that they are better than me since I went to regular school.
I've endured wrestlers making fun of my frugality because I won't spend
money on a flashy car that I don't need or fancy clothes that I didn't
want to wear. I don't need to wear multiple gold chains or rings nor do
I have to wear designer dresses just to show off. I tried on some of
those designer outfits during times out with Betty and her mother and I
found them to be just overpriced and ill-fitting. If that's how they are
raising their kids, then they are going to end up getting a harsh
reality check when real life hits them hard."
She wasn't backing down, so they left the office and walked out to the
pool area to enjoy some sunlight before it faded for the night. Taylor
was immediately given weird looks then heard whispers among the girls
while the boys leered at her body causing their girlfriends to whack
them for looking. The girls themselves were taking discreet looks
themselves, eyeing her lack of breasts while believing her to be,
"Beneath" them for her obvious, "Poor person" state of dress.
Taylor ignored them, with one of them being the most vocal about her.
Taylor endured her insults for a while before asking her, "Does everyone
know your secret? It's only another couple of weeks before your little
bundle of joy is seen by your school and parents."
That shut the girl up as her boyfriend grew angry at his girlfriend
becoming pregnant, especially as he had not had sex with her. She glared
at Taylor, who casually told her, "I've done enough rotations in OB/GYN
helping mothers give birth and lived through now three pregnancies with
my wife to notice the signs of someone who is pregnant especially as
your bump is just starting to show. From the look of it, I'd surmise
that you are about four months along and growing fast."
She looked at the others and happily asked, "Anyone else want to play
the insult game? I don't have to give up your dirty secrets but your
marijuana, cigarette, booze, heroin, and cocaine habits are easy to
spot. Your fingers are tar-stained, you have track marks that are
discrete yet still visible to someone who has seen them before, and your
figures are classic coke-head figures that match the subtle twitch that
you are showing as time goes on. I figure the weed and booze don't
bother your parents as they are used to it and it's an acceptable part
of the California culture, but the coke and heroin would make their
little carefully crafted world fall apart. Their sons and daughters
being addicts at such a young age is a tough thing to accept, especially
given how wild they themselves are. Nothing is worse for folks who live
out here than social services sniffing around and questioning their drug
habits."
She dared them to say something, but they didn't have any response to
them. She casually told them, "I may not waste money on things I don't
want or need, but I am no poor rat whose grandfather felt bad for. I'm a
fully accredited medical doctor with years in the business, and proud of
it. I may be a wrestler but I am still a doctor and am damn proud of the
observation skills that I paid good money to learn."
The teens moved off from trying to insult Taylor and tried to act like
nothing happened but Percy got the group to leave, stopping the pregnant
girl first so they could have a talk. Her former boyfriend left her in a
huff, vowing to get her back for humiliating him. She looked at him in
shame, giving Taylor a clue that there was more to their story and she
had just opened up a can of worms regarding the two.
After a needed shower and calming teas, the Turners asked the girl,
Sally Pickford, about the baby and who the father was. She started
crying but mumbled a barely audible, "My boyfriend Charlie Fairbanks. We
have been having sex for months. He won't let me refuse and routinely
beats me to allow him to have sex. His parents hate me, they won't let
him see me because I'm 'new money' while they have been fixtures for
decades. They are actually strapped for cash, all of their wealth is
tied-up in their movies and they have been struggling and needed my
family to salvage their company before they go under. He is their pride
and joy and they think he will become the next big actor. They would get
someone to hurt me if I told anyone about his baby, he's going to tell
them a string of lies and get my parents to run me out for my daring to
sully his good name."
Taylor hugged her, getting her to calm down while allowing her to cry
herself out. She looked over at the twins and offered a stern, "She's
telling the truth. She needs help and if you are true Turners you will
stand beside her and help her even if your so-called friends try to make
her look bad. Your father and grandfather wouldn't let you stand idly
by, you have a duty to help her."
The mother in Taylor was igniting her maternal instincts, causing her to
want to protect a total stranger in her time of need. Percy looked over
at Kate and Bart and nodded to them, the two got phones out and started
a phone tree to cut off the attempts by Charlie and the Fairbanks family
to go after her. They were quick in their actions, not leaving any
chance to wiggle out by the people they called and ended up causing
things to turn around as Charlie ended up in hot water over his
mistreatment of her as his past came up and his exes started to tell
similar stories of his misconduct.
Sally was in no condition to go home, and her parents were already
screaming at her on the phone to get home so they could get her to
recant her lies. Percy told them that she was spending the night then
had them know that they'd speak about the way they were acting. He
casually mentioned lawyers and social services, getting them to back
down but vowing revenge.
Taylor helped Sally get ready for bed, first feeding her and ensuring
that she was alright before she left her for the night. Percy wanted to
say something but Faye cut him off by explaining, "She's acting like a
mother to her, she needs a parent right now and Taylor needs to be that
for her. She's only 16, it's life-shattering to a kid at that age. She
will survive, even if we have to help her."
Percy called his lawyer and alerted social services about what was going
on, getting her placed with the family for the time being while they
investigated. It was going to be a three-way battle over her but the
Turners were a force to be reckoned with and few in Southern California
wanted to. Taylor was put in charge of her, with Taylor's being new to
her yet unable to be intimidated working in her favor.
The next morning was a mix of nerves and excitement as the Pickford
family made it official by kicking Sally out of their house and
disowning her while the Fairbanks family tried to claim that she was
lying but let loose an unintentional secret as they admitted that he had
a lot of girls that he was rough with and had been with but she wasn't
one of them. She was checked for marks and several had his ring's
impression and matched him punching and slapping her. How they got there
was clear as they were hidden from view under her bra and panties making
them tough to explain as they were only able to be given to Shelly when
she was naked.
A police report was filed and Charlie arrested by police for domestic
violence. He vowed to kill her if he ever got his hands on her, earning
a restraining order against him and an additional charge of threats to
which his parents couldn't force to be dropped. His name was dragged
through the media making for a tough go for him as an actor as he was
blacklisted by every studio and production company in the LA area until
he was either cleared or completed his probation and as a teen with
violent tendencies who harms his pregnant girlfriend, it was a career
killer by default.
Taylor and Sally were driven to the studio, with her sticking close to
Taylor who felt for her. Sally and Taylor were kindred spirits and Sally
needed someone to show her that she would be alright, Taylor was
enduring the same kind of scrutiny as she was and could understand her
better than anyone. She felt the need to protect Sally, giving her
someone who would be there for her even if she was only going to be
there for a week.
She looked at Percy who nodded to her, she was going to stay with Percy
and Faye after Taylor went home. It might be tough to separate the two,
but it's what was best for her as she couldn't move to Florida to live
with Taylor especially so far from the twins. Percy and Faye were a
better fit for her, they had experience with teenagers and could endure
the heartless talk behind their backs. Taylor and Betty were good
parents but they weren't ready for a teenager yet, especially one about
to have a baby.
The two kept close, with Taylor asking if Sally was feeling better and
only getting a soft, "It sucks but I'm just glad the truth is out
there." She looked relieved and put her head on Taylor's shoulder,
showing her that she felt safe with Taylor and trusted her. Taylor held
her hand in assurance, with Sally looking relieved that Taylor wasn't
making a big deal out of her being with them.
The office was abuzz as the trio entered. Faye had called ahead and had
Percy's assistant notified that the trio was not to be disturbed and
anyone who talked about either Taylor or Sally was fired and the cause
for the firing known to all. It wasn't a suggestion, she had her, "Do it
or else" tone of voice.
The trio walked to Percy's office and was greeted by his assistant, his
secretary, a representative from the movie Taylor was to work on, and
the heads of the TV and movie divisions. The ladies were going to be
ushered out but Percy had the two stay as he didn't want either to be
out of his sight and left to endure the gossip of the staff and others
who might be in contact with Sally's parents and or worse- the Fairbanks
family.
The two listened closely as the others talked around them as if they
weren't there and gave them looks of them not belonging there. Taylor
wanted to smack one of them when he said he'd tell them more but he
didn't want to talk "in mixed company" and added, "People who shouldn't
be seen with you," but Percy countered with an upset, "That's fine, you
can talk to HR about your insulting remarks about my niece and her ward.
My niece also happens to be doing stunt work for the movie you were
supposed to be in charge of but that has changed to your VP as you are
being removed for the time being. Before you say otherwise, the producer
of the movie and the star are well-aware of my niece and personally
asked for her to be part of it. You, on the other hand, are just taking
up space in the office."
Percy smiled as he had the man escorted out while his VP was called in
to replace him and gave the two ladies no attention as she was focused
on what they were talking about and knew more about the projects of her
division than her predecessor had. She should have known, she was the
one who gave the green light for the movies and worked with the
producers to replace an errant director who tried to mangle the script
without authorization from the book's rights holder. She had also
ensured that the lead actress was kept despite threats against her by
the former director and his supporters.
The television division had a slew of proposals for reality TV shows
using the company's GCW talent but none were going to be successful as
all were essentially the same show only with the leads swapped out.
Percy looked at one proposal and said an outright, "Hell no." The VP of
TV shows asked what the problem was, to which Percy pointed to Taylor
and stated, "She isn't going to star in any show about her transition. I
don't know who came up with the idea but I don't have to ask her to know
that she will not let her or her family be put on display and laughed
at. This isn't one of those TLC or E! shows that just exploits a
family's greed alongside the manufactured "struggles" of being
transgender, this is the life of five people who are my family."
Taylor angrily told the VP, "My life is nobody's business but my own. My
family has a right to privacy and we will keep it. I might have been on
TV but they never agreed to be part of anything. Find another sap to be
your 'star', we aren't going to do any shows or documentaries or
anything like that."
The VP tried to argue that she had to do it but Percy pointed out,
"She's under no obligation to do any of the sorts. She's contracted as a
wrestler, with a separate contract for her producing, writing, and
plotting work. Her being on TV is part of her contract to wrestle and is
handled by entirely different crew which you have no contact with nor do
you have any sway over. Her contract was to wrestle, not to make you and
your sycophants get noticed by our Monday Night Wars contract network in
the hopes of becoming the next big reality show producer. I told you
before that she wouldn't do it, if need be I'll invoke our clause that
overrules any program that we deem to be offensive and in my eyes
forcing her to star in a program that she refuses to take part in
qualifies."
The other options were more in-line with what would draw viewers, shows
like documentaries about the lives of wrestlers who are recovering from
injuries and talks with older wrestlers about their pasts and other
topics. It was better than they realized, with Percy telling Taylor that
her idea was going to be their next big hit. Taylor nodded, knowing that
Killer Gagne and others would love the money earned from appearing in
the show and the fame it would help bring to their wrestling schools and
indie jobs.
The meeting took another turn as the next movie was discussed and none
of the ideas that they had were going to do much for the studio except
bring them a small gross profit but little notice from critics and the
general public outside of wrestling fans. None of them had an idea for
what to do while Taylor thought about some of the things that had been
done in the past and suggested that they speak with John Finn back in
Boston and have him consider doing a movie about his large family's
evolution over the course of the years. She could see an amazing movie
being made about the family's first year alone, with the next two years
making separate, larger movies that would have people cheering,
laughing, and crying as the kids grew up and the changes in the family
hit them hard.
Her whole idea was to make the story of the Finn Family into an epic
trilogy. The family was ripe for a Hollywood makeover, especially if
they could get the right person to write the story and make them be the
sympathetic brood that people saw as being normal despite the
differences in them. It would be a pain to leave out some members of the
family, but with the family being so large it was hard to have all of
them in the movie especially those who weren't born yet or who joined
years later.
Percy looked at the VP of the movie division who was writing down the
idea and thinking about who it was that would be contacted regarding the
movie idea itself. Percy shook his head and told the man, "I know John
personally and have distributed movies that his production company,
Inferno Pictures, have made. I'll ask him myself and have him approve of
the choices of the screenwriter and director. I know that he won't trust
just anyone with his life story. We already released his brother's
autobiographical film and he had his own niece to ensure that movie was
a success. Given that it went on to win several Academy Awards and
started Inferno down a streak of multiple hits, they have enough clout
to ensure that their story is done right. I already know who they will
have as a possible star as Valerie Finn but I doubt she will want to act
in it and be more than an advisory role given that she herself is part
of the second and third stories."
His word was final, John Finn's money wasn't something to ignore and his
life story was one of the few stories that would see a bidding war among
studios for the rights to release. He'd choose who he felt is the best
fit and ignore the cries of foul play, it was his story and he was
telling it his way. If he wasn't a teacher John Finn would make a great
executive, he simply didn't give in to others easily.
Percy's day got boring after the meeting as he had routine paperwork and
was brought up to date on the various projects that they were
undertaking that wasn't that big but would have a lot of money coming
their way when they were completed. Taylor saw the reason why Percy was
so good at his job and why his father was focused on the bread and
butter that helped partially fund the entertainment arm of the company:
he was patient and listened, then gave you his opinion and made you want
to help him with his vision for what should happen. His father was
hotheaded and his sister was too sympathetic to the needs of others to
be able to last in Hollywood, Percy was a shark who held his own and got
his way.
Over lunch, Taylor asked Sally about her family and learned just how the
poor girl had endured in the backstabbing world of Hollywood. Her father
was an independant producer who helped secure funding for the projects
of others and who worked closely with the Fairbanks family, he had his
entire business tied-up with them and while they made great money they
weren't that rich and were always put in their place by the "real"
producers despite most of them being "rich" on paper but barely breaking
even on some of the projects they funded. She was meant to marry her ex-
boyfriend but his sexual appetite and need to control her ensured that
they were doomed from the start especially now that she was pregnant.
She hated the arrangement, especially as she was treated like trash by
his family and told that she was just a tool that could be tossed away
at any time and have nothing from it. Her family was nothing and would
be destroyed on a whim if the Fairbanks family chose, with her being the
one to get blamed no matter what happened. Taylor held her as she cried,
letting Percy write down what she was saying and texting it to his
lawyers so she was able to get away from her family before they
retaliated against her.
Her lawyers were happy to report back to him that they had found a lot
of dirt on the ex-boyfriend and his family. She wasn't the first girl to
be abused by the Fairbanks family and they had gotten the police to back
off of him and blame the other girls when he got too rough with them.
She was the first who had the right clout behind her to force them to
actually investigate and what they did find was too much to ignore,
especially as several "interested parties" ensured that the DA brought
abuse charges against Charlie for both the assaults on her as well as
the threats against her and her family that were overheard by the
arresting officers as he was brought in that morning.
She wasn't sure that it was going to matter as he was notorious for
getting people to recant especially the police, but Percy happily told
her, "Jo and Phyllis Kaplan are two names that you never want after you.
The DA is a friend of theirs and knowing that you have us protecting you
he will work to ensure that they are prosecuted for whatever crimes that
they try to do. They might have money, but they are going up against the
full force of the law and when there is enough evidence even their money
can't keep them from going to prison for what they did to you."
He let her settle down and added, "You don't have to go back to your
school but I think it's best to do so. You have a right to be there and
none of the families can force you out without bringing the wrath of Jo
and Phyllis. They've already destroyed three schools for what they did
to girls in troubling situations, they will protect your rights. Heck,
they destroyed one of the oldest private schools in the region due to
what they did to a student eight years ago. The two are some of the best
at getting authority figures to see their side of things especially when
it comes to keeping their jobs."
She tearfully thanked Percy, with Percy's father instincts making him
protect her more than he had planned on but was what she needed more
than anything. It was tough to say see her in pain, she was a beautiful
young woman who was a good friend of his daughter and who was also one
of the few who could get one over on his son without him realizing it
until too late. He felt like she was a woman who was going to make her
parents proud, she didn't deserve to be treated like a commodity that
they could just pass along and used to secure their financial future
instead of thinking about her own life.
Taylor asked her about school and got a picture of a school that was
seeing a lot of people with power forcing their views on those who had
less power, skirting the lines between bullying and being typical "mean
girls." The education was top notch, but the social scene was a horror
show for anyone who did not grow up inside of it. Taylor looked over at
Percy who told her, "They never tried to do any kind of stunts against
Kate and Bart. They'd regret it instantly if they did."
Sally looked down in shame while Taylor realized that she knew the
truth. She nodded, explaining to both, "Kate and Bart are the biggest
prizes in school but you won't let them date openly until they are
seniors. The few girls who try to date Bart are scared off by Kate and
the few boys who think that they have a shot of getting her to break the
rules have gotten themselves into trouble by the school due to their
making plans in front of the principal. They are left alone for good
reason: you would not hesitate to ruin their families if they tried
anything against either of them."
She looked down in shame and confessed, "I thought about trying to date
Bart but he's too nice to me and he has eyes on a girl from another
school. She's a stuck-up bitch who is eyeing him for his money not
because he's a good person. Kate has tried to steer him clear but he
won't listen to her. Before you ask, I don't have those feelings for him
anymore. I liked him, but I like his friendship more. He and Kate are
great and I'm proud to call her a friend even though she's going to have
to abandon me."
Percy just smirked and asked her if she remembered all of the times when
she and Kate spent the night at his house or when Bart asked her to the
school dance despite having several dozen girls asking him to it. She
nodded, to which he explained to her through a big smile, "Kate told her
friends off for not inviting you over to their sleepovers and held her
own with just you. It hit them hard because if she wasn't there they
were always boring. Bart asked you to the dance as a genuine offer of a
night of fun between friends and was happy to be your date that night.
He likes you a lot, he looks at you differently than other girls. He
sees you as a friend just as Kate does. You have been more of a friend
to the two of them than any of those brats."
Her hormones were playing tricks on her again as she started to cry,
Taylor hugged and rocked her as she calmed down with her muttering,
"Damn hormones" to which Taylor offered a confiding, "Tell me about it.
I'm going to be the same way in a week or two when mine kick in. You are
at least in good health and the little one will be alright once you get
to a proper doctor.
The two were silent for a while as Percy readied to head home. They were
told that they would enjoy dinner with the actress Taylor was going to
stunt for, with Taylor again growing anxious but saw it ease as she saw
Percy giving her a supportive look. She trusted him, but she still had
some fears over her meeting someone new and who could still have a
negative reaction to her.
At the house, they were met by Kate and Bart leading Sally to her room
to talk while Faye gave the duo an update on what was going on with her.
Faye wasn't happy but she confessed to Percy, "She's being taken away
unless we permanently accept her as our foster child. Taylor isn't local
and is leaving soon, they want her to stay with people who are going to
remain here."
He nodded and added, "Taylor and I agreed that it was best for her. She
needs parents, Taylor is just too young and inexperienced to handle her
issues especially as she has a baby on the way. She's close with both
Bart and Kate, it's best for her to remain here among those who care
about her."
She let out a sigh of relief, with Taylor adding, "Please do what is
right for her. If need be, become her parents in full. She cares about
your family deeply, without you she's going to be abandoned and with no
way of supporting herself nor her child. You aren't ready to be
grandparents, but you are all that she has. She needs help, and you are
the only ones that she trusts."
They agreed with Taylor but would wait for a while before asking Sally
if she would like to become their daughter. They were going to get Jo
and Phyllis to make it official by getting her parents to sign away all
rights to her, but that was expected to be quick once they forced their
hand by bringing up the fact that they had forced her into an abusive
relationship as part a business deal. They'd never make a penny from
their daughter and their company was doomed to go belly-up shortly
thanks to the bad news about their finances while the Fairbanks family
saw the same happen to them.
They chatted for a bit before the doorbell rang and a pair of 22-year-
olds appeared with the butler telling the Turners, "Your guests have
arrived. Dinner shall be shortly." He walked off and let them get the
three teens from their rooms while Taylor grew concerned. Percy told her
warmly, "She's a great person, you will love her" as the woman and man
entered the room.
Taylor didn't have a chance to introduce herself as the woman happily
said, "Benny and Walter weren't kidding when they said she's going to be
cute." Percy asked what she meant, to which she stated, "Our younger
brothers met her before at the Finn Foundation and Reagan Group events
and played with her sons when she came by Uncle John's house. Our
brothers raved about her. She's beautiful when she isn't playing the
tomboy."
