“Well, this ought to be interesting,” I grinned. “When will Cynthia’s parents be home?”

“Tomorrow afternoon,” Jesse replied. “And I’m not sure ‘interesting’ is the right word, Dad.”

“What exactly did her grandma see?”

“Just us coming downstairs, dressed. And Cynthia pulled the duvet over the bed and closed the door.”

“Her parents will be suspicious, but you weren’t caught red-handed. Mary and I had a similar situation when I was fourteen. Her dad called my dad. You can imagine your grandmother’s response.”

Jesse nodded, “I bet that was fun.”

“She grounded me. It didn’t help that I’d been caught in bed with Becky not long before that.”

“Seriously?!” Jesse laughed.

“In that case, I could truthfully say nothing had happened. I spent the night at her house after a New Year’s party and she came and got into bed with me. We were clothed and her dad liked and trusted me, so other than him talking to my dad, he was cool.”

“I don’t think Cynthia’s parents are going to be ‘cool’ about this,” Jesse replied.

“Both girls had STI tests, right? And you were responsible about birth control?”

“Yes.”

“Then there’s nothing for us to do. Make sure you tell your moms so they know what’s likely to happen tomorrow.”

“Thanks, Dad.”

I left Dad’s study and went back to the coach house. My moms were due back from their lunch, so I just popped Mario Kart 64 into the console. I was totally disappointed that we’d been interrupted, but I felt bad for Libby because she was the only one of the three of us who didn’t get to have the other two go down on her. I also doubted we’d have another chance, because of school, hockey, and my upcoming dance date with Kelly when I was going to ask her to be my girlfriend.

“Home already?” Mom One asked when she and Mom Two came in about fifteen minutes later.

“Cynthia’s grandmother came to check on her,” I said, putting down the Nintendo controller.

“So ‘hanging out’ was having it ‘hang out’?” Mom Two asked with a smirk.

“Yes, Mom,” I replied, rolling my eyes at her dumb joke.

“What happened?”

“Cynthia, Libby, and I put our clothes on and got to the stairs before she came upstairs,” I said nonchalantly.

“I think your dad had a similar situation to that more than once!” Mom One said.

“He told me when I told him what happened.”

“Where were Cynthia’s parents?” Mom Two asked.

“Milwaukee. Her older brother is thinking of going to UW Madison.”

“What did Cynthia’s grandmother say?” Mom Two asked.

“That she was going to tell Cynthia’s parents and that I was, quote, ‘in serious trouble, young man’.”

“What did your dad say?” Mom One asked.

“He made sure all of us had STI tests, made sure we were responsible about birth control, and told me about getting caught with Mary and Becky, like I said. He said it would be ‘interesting’.”

My moms laughed.

“Your dad is not like his mom in any way!”

“No kidding!” I agreed.

“And don’t think I missed the bit about two girls!” she said with a smirk.

“And?” I asked.

“Nothing. We trust you to be responsible and to make sure the girls really want to do what they’re doing.”

“What are you going to say to Cynthia’s parents?”

“That it’s normal for teenagers to experiment and that nobody was hurt. Do you think they’ll call Libby’s parents?”

I shrugged, “I have no idea. I don’t know Cynthia’s parents or Libby’s parents.”

“We’ll deal with it,” Mom Two said. “Do you know if the girls read Bethany’s book?”

“Both of them did,” I replied.

“Good. What are you going to do for the rest of the day?”

“I’m not sure. Maybe I’ll go hang out with Dad and play some video games.”

October 1, 2000, Chicago, Illinois

“Sorry about the interruption,” Jennifer said when she, Josie, and I sat down in my study early on Sunday afternoon.

“You should apologize to Leigh!” I replied.

“You are STILL incorrigible!”

“You were instrumental in making me who I am!” I grinned.

“True,” Jennifer replied, “though I think we probably could have done with a bit less drama in our relationship.”

“You think? So?”

“I heard from Valerie Schmidt and to say she’s pissed is a royal understatement.”

I shrugged, “Let me guess, her innocent little angel was corrupted by our lecherous son?”

“And his slutty friend.”

“I got the impression from Jesse that he and Cynthia had been together and that Cynthia was the main instigator. And that Libby was less experienced than Cynthia and Jesse.”

“That’s the impression we have as well,” Josie said. “Jesse wasn’t as careful as he thought he was, which is how we found about his ‘friend with benefits’.”

I laughed, “I really wish we’d had that term when we were his age! So how did you leave it?”

“She wants to have a meeting with us and Libby’s parents.”

“‘Us’ as in you and Josie or ‘us’ as in the three of us?”

“The three of us.”

“When?”

“She’s expecting us this afternoon.”

I shook my head, “Sorry, but she can have her little snit at some point when I’m not hosting a Rap Session. Tell her to pick another time or do it without me because I have twenty-five guests arriving in about twenty minutes.”

“We’ll go,” Josie said. “If she bitches, I’ll point out that we’re raising Jesse.”

“God help her,” I chuckled. “Let me know what’s said. We’re in agreement, right?”

“That Jesse is YOUR son?” Josie asked with a smirk.

“I meant about Jesse not being in any trouble! And, to be honest, I was a bit surprised, given Jesse’s personality.”

“I think Cynthia talked him into it,” Jennifer said. “He was careful not to fix any blame, but I got the drift it was something Cynthia cooked up with Libby.”

“Now why does THAT sound familiar?” I chuckled. “Anyway, let me know what comes of this.”

“You’re not curious how far they got?” Josie asked.

“Yes, but no,” I replied. “If you know what I mean.”

Jennifer and Josie stood up, so I did as well. They left my study and I went to find Leigh, who was talking with Kara in the kitchen.

“Sorry about that,” I said. “Just a minor issue with my son.”

“Which girl?” Kara smirked.

“Girls,” I corrected with a grin.

“So he IS you!” Kara giggled, something she very rarely did these days.

“Seriously?” Leigh asked. “Your fourteen-year-old son was having a threesome?”

“Allegedly,” I replied. “They were fully dressed when they encountered one of the girls’ grandmothers. What happened before that, only the kids know.”

“Plausible deniability?” Kara asked.

“That’s the way I would play it. One set of the girls’ parents demanded a meeting this afternoon, but given the Rap Session starts in about twenty minutes, I declined. I have no concerns about Jennifer and Josie handling this. All the kids are the same age, and they followed the guidelines in Bethany’s book about STI tests and being responsible about birth control.”

“Steve, you’re seriously OK with this?” Leigh asked.

“I’d violate my personal ‘Prime Directive’ if I wasn’t,” I said. “I can’t be a hypocrite.”

“You? At fourteen?”

“A foursome,” I replied smugly.

“You’re serious?!”

“He is,” Kara said mirthfully. “That was long before we started dating.”

“How the heck did you get involved in crazy sex at fourteen?” Leigh asked.

“Ask Jennifer to tell you our story while I’m in South America,” I chuckled.

I heard the front door open and a few seconds later Ben and Elizabeth came into the kitchen with Shoshana. They said ‘hello’ and Kara, Leigh, and I got up and all six of us went to the great room to await the rest of our participants. Everyone arrived and we started on time.

“First,” I said. “I’ll be in South America two weeks from today, so Elizabeth and Henry will run the Rap Session. Please try to keep the mayhem to a minimum!”

Everyone laughed and I waited for the laughter to subside before continuing.

“We recently bought a Panasonic Digital Palmcorder that I’m going to have Kara set up to record the Rap Session, so I don’t miss anything. If anyone objects, please let one of us know.”

Nobody voiced an objection at that point, so I said, “Next, Holly should introduce her guest.”

“This is Jackson Morris,” Holly said. “He’s a Sophomore at IIT and we’ve been studying together this semester. I asked Steve if I could invite him, and here he is!”

“Welcome!” I said, as did many others.

“Thanks,” Jackson said. “I hope you don’t mind if I’m quiet and just absorb what’s going on, at least at first.”

“That’s fairly common,” I replied. “But speak up whenever you feel moved. Now, let’s pick up with the discussion from last time. We didn’t come up with an answer, except that we all agree that education is a key component in eliminating all forms of discrimination.”

We spent the next two hours trying to work out some kind of articulable standard, but, in the end, each attempt ended up being subjective in some way.

“I think I can summarize the majority position,” Sophie said. “And that is that laws which are subjective are dangerous to liberty. And before Patricia objects, I believe she agrees when we’re talking about Free Speech and criminal statutes!”

Patricia laughed, “Given that ‘void for vagueness’ is a thing, and because I’ve challenged subjective speech laws, I can’t really argue with you. That said, given the current treatment of gays and lesbians as ‘second class citizens’ in many regards, something needs to be done. But, as we’ve seen, there isn’t a consensus even amongst a group who are the least racist, least sexist, least-homophobic people I know.”

“My concern is,” I said, “and I think you can appreciate this, is that the rights of Christians to hold and express their beliefs has to be protected, even if they oppose what they call the ‘homosexual agenda’. Without freedom of conscience, we aren’t free.”

“That’s a fairly lengthy debate,” Patricia said. “We’re out of time so I think we’ll talk about that in two weeks.”

“Oh sure,” I chuckled. “When I’m not here!”

“I think there are more than enough people who agree with you to make your points - Becka, Claire, Mattie, Leigh, Natalie, Nicole, Sophie...”

“That sounds like a harem!” Jackson said, speaking for the first time.

“There’s WAY more truth to that than you might think!” Becka said, causing everyone to laugh.

Everyone got up to get snacks and began filtering out. Sophie hung back and asked to speak to me privately. I agreed and we went to my study.

“You win,” she said.

“Win what?”

“All those girls have slept with you, I’m sure; well, maybe not Nicole because she’s fifteen. It’s my turn.”

“Your turn?”

“I think I have to,” Sophie said.

“Nobody HAS to do anything,” I replied. “If you want to, that’s a different story. If you feel compelled, then it’s wrong. There are no conditions on coming to the Rap Sessions.”

“People here still think I’m a little girl even though I’m eighteen and a Freshman in college.”

“I beg to differ,” I replied. “YOU think they think that, but I don’t believe anyone else does. You’ve participated in the discussions, been in the sauna naked a few times, and the ONLY thing you did was the same thing Holly did - express fairly extreme surprise at the fact that Becka and Mattie would so casually have sex with Bill and Matt.”

“And I got grief for my reaction.”

“Yes, you did. And over the past year you’ve come to terms with what happened. You make great contributions to the Rap Sessions and you’re much more open-minded.”

“I think I’m the only virgin in the room! Well, except maybe Nicole.”

I didn’t think that was the case, as a couple of the college Freshmen likely hadn’t had sex either, but that was neither here nor there. And I was positive Holly was still a virgin, and she was a Junior.

I shrugged, “True or not, so what?”

“I guess I feel like I’m not an adult when kids younger than me have had sex.”

“Again, so what? If you want to wait until you get married, you wait until you get married. This is the one thing only you can judge, and you can’t compare yourself to anyone else. If there’s one thing you SHOULD have learned over the past year, that’s it!”

“Sorry,” she said, looking down.

“Sophie, look up, please,” I said gently.

She looked up, her eyes glassy.

“You’re a sweet, wonderful young woman. There is literally nothing wrong with you. I mean that. Will you do something for me?”

She nodded but didn’t say anything.

“Think about what I’ve just said, and everything that’s been said over the past year. Come see to me after I get back from South America and we’ll talk about this. OK?”

She nodded, “Sorry.”

“There is nothing to apologize for. You have to be true to yourself.”

“Thanks. You wouldn’t have a hug for me, would you?”

I nodded and held out my arms. I gave her a nice hug and she snuggled close, putting her head on my chest. When I released her, she kissed my cheek and left the study. I followed her out to find Kara talking with Leigh. She and Sophie said ‘goodbye’ and Kara and I went to the kitchen to begin preparing for our family dinner. Jennifer and Josie came in about twenty-five minutes later.

“So?” I asked.

“Libby’s parents were actually reasonable,” Jennifer said. “They’re a bit concerned about her experimentation, but the gist I got was this wasn’t her first experiment. Cynthia’s parents weren’t so reasonable. They accused Jesse and Libby of seducing their daughter. Libby’s parents took exception to that.”

“I had the same impression,” Josie said, “Libby’s parents aren’t freaked out about what happened. Cynthia’s parents on the other hand think they’re all ‘too young’ to even be kissing.”

“Wanna give me the box score?” I asked.

Jennifer laughed, “Libby isn’t being punished, but Cynthia is grounded for two weeks and they don’t want Jesse or Libby around her. They were put in an interesting trap because both Libby’s parents and we knew something they didn’t.”

“Which was?”

“Their little angel is on birth control pills!” Josie smirked.

“Oops!” I chuckled. “That kind of takes the wind out of the sails of their argument.”

“I pointed that out,” Josie said. “That’s when they backed off a bit, though I think they’re going to go after the clinic for prescribing the pills.”

“Good luck with that!” I replied. “Minors in Illinois have access to birth control and abortion without parental consent in many instances. The school nurse can’t give Jesse an aspirin without your permission, but the clinic CAN prescribe birth control pills or hand out condoms and not even talk to the parents about it. When they’re teenagers, my daughters could get an abortion without parental consent, and there’s little or nothing I could do to prevent it. In most cases, the clinic is prohibited from even talking to the parent! How did that come up?”

“Libby’s parents. Libby appears to have told them quite a bit.”

“Interesting. What did Jesse say?”

“I don’t think it bothered him all that much because he and Kelly are probably going to be a couple after the dance on the 13th, so that would be the end between him and Cynthia anyway. I think Cynthia knew that.”

“And yesterday was her playing her hand the best she knew how?” I asked with smirk.

“Could be,” Josie said. “She and Jesse appear to have worked their way through The New Joy of Sex to the ‘threesome’ point!”

Kara had a giggle fit.

“Jesse isn’t Steve, Kara,” Josie said. “He may be doing some experimenting, but you know he only ever wanted to be with Francesca.”

“The way Steve wanted to be with Birgit,” Jennifer said. “But I do think you’re right that Jesse and Kelly will settle into a nice, comfortable relationship that will last for a while.”

“Amber isn’t going to be happy about that in a couple of years,” Kara said.

“I still put odds on Jesse ending up with Lara,” I said. “Anyway, it sounds like there isn’t going to be any real fallout.”

“I agree,” Jennifer said. “I’ll let you know.”

“Thanks. See you in an hour or so for dinner.”

“Yep!”

She and Josie left and Kara and I continued making dinner.

October 2, 2000, Chicago, Illinois

“The world must be ending!” Mario declared over the videoconference system. “Steve at an Executive Committee meeting?”

“What’s next?” Cindi smirked. “Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together ... mass hysteria!?”

Everyone laughed.

“Actually, it’s Cindi’s concerns that have me here,” I said. “She’ll explain when it’s her turn. I have no clue how you guys run these things now that Stephanie is in charge.”

“Smoothly,” my sister said. “And efficiently.”

“Thanks, Squirt!” I retorted in feigned annoyance.

“On THAT note,” Stephanie said, “we’ll begin. Elyse?”

We went through the usual reports, which were simply longer, less efficient versions of the summaries I received, but I knew that sharing the details in this meeting was important, as I’d done that when I ran it. They saved Cindi’s report about EB Systems for last, so that it didn’t distract everyone from the other issues which needed to be dealt with. When it was time, Cindi gave the same basic overview that she’d given me the previous Tuesday.

“I’ve prepared a flyer which we’re sending to all our customers, starting tomorrow,” she said. “It’s the last item in your folders. It emphasizes the problem with the lock-in which makes it impossible to extract data without help from EB, and which risks complete data loss if the encryption keys are somehow lost. I’ve spoken with Sam and Terry about the right way to do this so we can offer the same feature, which would include escrowing the security keys. There are quite a few challenges, but Terry and Julia are assigning Steve, Penny, Sam, and two of our new coders to work on this project, with Penny as team lead.”

“Loki help me!” I groaned, causing everyone to laugh.

“Sam, Terry, and I will have a design completed by the time Steve returns from South America,” Julia said. “A design which honors our commitment to our customers.”

“How bad will this hurt us?” Mario asked.

“We’ll probably lose some customers who decide solely on price,” Cindi said. “But given the time it takes for a conversion, we’ll have time to counter the FUD. That said, every customer EB takes actually hurts their revenue for several years. It’s a fool’s errand on their part, similar to what happened to BLS years ago. I spoke to both Chickasaw and Hastings Mill, and neither of them are interested in a race to the bottom. There may be some short-term pain, but in the long run the three of us will be in good shape and EB will be financially unsound.”

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 9 A Trip to Milford Part I

September 1981, Milford, Ohio Friday was routine until lunchtime. Afternoon classes had been canceled for both Elyse and me because of the Labor Day weekend, so I drove back to the apartment instead of having lunch on campus. Elyse and I packed our overnight bags and waited for Kathy and Bethany, who arrived as planned, and we left Chicago just before 4:00pm. It was my goal to make the trip to Milford in just under five and a half hours, which I could do if we grabbed fast food on the way...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 9 KamiChapter 13 California Dreaming

October 10, 1995, Los Angeles, California I’d taken a mid-afternoon flight and arrived at the InterContinental Hotel just after 6:00pm. I checked into my suite, took a quick shower, then walked to California Plaza to get a salad for dinner. I got it ‘to go’ and sat at a table near the large fountain so I could watch the cool water show. “Hi!” a familiar voice called from behind me. I chuckled, and turned, “Hi, Jasmine! Join me?” “Sure!” “I didn’t expect to see you until tomorrow.” “I...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 5 MichelleChapter 78 Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous Part II

May 15, 1992, Glencoe, Illinois “Join me in my study, if you would,” Noel Spurgeon said when we finished our dessert. It had been an interesting evening. Samantha and I had talked for a bit before we’d been summoned to dinner. The meal had been prepared by a chef and was served by a white-coated young man. Again, this was a far cry from Lois at the van Hoeks’ house. What wasn’t a far cry was the fact that I was having dinner with a man who knew I was going to be sleeping with his daughter...

Batwoman meets Catwoman Part Two

Holly crept up behind Kate with instinctive ease, then like some guard dog she bit on Kate's cunt then chewed playfully on her flesh through her latex while her hands shot forward, and grabbed Kate's tits. She let out a deep, long moan that resonated through the latex into Kate's cunt as latex covered flesh muffled it. She couldn't resist Kate's succulent position one moment, and she wanted some of that sweet pussy so badly! "Ahhhhhhhhhhh...., uuuhhhhh....,...

A WellLived Life Book 7 Kara IIChapter 37 Transformations Part I

November, 1982, Chicago, Illinois On the Tuesday following Halloween, when I got to the Sig Ep house, I invited Dave and Cindi to join Stephie, Elyse, Eduardo, and me for a dinner party on Friday. They agreed and when Julia arrived, the three of us went upstairs to work on our next project. So far, we had solid A’s on all of our projects. For the next two weeks, we’d be building a 4-bit adder circuit, which was the most complex thing we’d done so far. When we finished, Julia asked me to...

A WellLived Life Book 7 Kara IIChapter 38 Transformations Part II

November, 1982, Chicago, Illinois I checked my watch and felt I had enough time. We pulled the bed out and this time we made love the conventional way. After she had three good orgasms, I filled the rubber with cum. We were on a co-ed floor, so Julia lent me a large towel and I went to the guys’ showers to wash up while she did the same in the girls’ showers. We met back in her room, dressed, hugged and kissed and I headed to The Bog for a quick bite before my afternoon class. After class, I...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 7 SakurakoChapter 57 Land of the Rising Sun Part III

June 23, 1994, Oguni, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan My first week in Japan flew by, and a routine developed. Sakurako would wake me; I’d exercise and run, then shower and have breakfast, and share tea with Sakurako. After breakfast, I’d meditate, and then have my training session. After lunch, I’d work in the garden, or, as I had this day, wash the floors in the house. Hiroshi would accompany me back to the cottage and we’d talk while I washed up and dressed for dinner. After dinner, I’d spend...

May, 1985, the Midwest, the Great Plains, California, and the Pacific Northwest, USA “More corn?” my sister asked shortly after we crossed the Mississippi at the Quad Cities. We were making good time, having covered the first 180 miles of our trip in less than three hours. “On this route, it’s going to be corn and wheat, with the odd herd of cows, and very flat, until we get to the Rocky Mountains.” “Should we fill the gas tank and switch places?” Stephanie asked. “Sure. December 5, 2000, Rochester, Minnesota “Go inside and shut the door,” Naomi said. “What?” She rolled her eyes, “Seriously?” I chuckled, realizing what she meant, so I stuck the keycard into the slot in the lock and when the LED flashed green, I went inside and shut the door. A few seconds later there was a firm knock and I opened it to let Naomi into the room. We took off our shoes, coats, hats, and gloves, then moved into the sitting room. “You like to live in style,” she said, her eyes...

October 1981, Chicago, Illinois I arrived back at the apartment just before 10:00pm and saw the address for the party. I decided I wasn’t particularly interested in going so I put on some music, poured myself a glass of wine, and started reading more about Russia. I was alternating between the history and culture book and the Communist Party book, decided on the history and culture book for this time. February 4, 1989, Chicago, Illinois All through breakfast and karate, I thought about my conversation with Jorge. It seemed that he had identified the core issue underlying the problems Jessica and I were having. I thought through the events from the time I received that fateful call about Bethany’s accident, to August, when I’d proposed. I’d need to talk to Kara before I talked to Jessica, but I had all day Sunday to do that. I was going to see Kimmy later in the day. Kimmy, who had...

A WellLived Life Book 1 BirgitChapter 4 Calm Before the Storm

June 1977 When I got home, I grabbed a Coke and some chips and went right to my room. I didn’t think I could deal with my parents or Jeff or Stephanie. I just needed to be by myself. That wouldn’t seem odd to anyone, because I often went to my room to read. In addition, I now had the TV I’d received for my birthday. I flipped it on to WXIX Channel 19 and reruns of Gilligan’s Island and Green Acres played in the background while I read. I had to get my mind clear for the final exams that...

August 1981, Chicago, Illinois On Sunday morning, I made my usual call to Karin. I described everything in the apartment and all the things I’d done during the week, including the reception. July, 1983, Chicago, Illinois I woke up early on the First of July, because my body clock was still set to Swedish time. The flight back had been long but uneventful, and I was happy that the businessman in the seat next to me hadn’t wanted to talk. July, 1983, Chicago, Illinois After Rosie left, I stripped the sheets from my bed, as well as the cover of the duvet, and tossed everything into the washing machine. I lit a lavender candle in the room, and then swept and dusted. I did a quick spot-check of the rest of the house and noticed that the tub in the sauna needed to be cleaned. I scrubbed it, then mopped the sauna floor with a damp sponge mop. I finished cleaning the sauna about the time the washing machine finished, so I moved...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 4 ElyseChapter 64 Pull the Other One

May 26, 1991, Iron Mountain, Michigan “Shall we see if we can find a farm?” I asked at breakfast on Sunday morning. “That sounds like a great idea,” Jessica said. “There’s a visitor’s bureau in town,” Kara said. “I saw it when we were here the first time.” “I’m sorry I ruined that vacation,” Jessica said. “Ruined?” I protested. “Are you kidding? Getting you back was way more important than a few days of vacation!” “I agree,” Kara added. “Jess, you know exactly how bad off Steve was...

A WellLived Life Book 9 AnalaChapter 59 New Friends

August, 1984, Chicago, Illinois The rest of the week proceeded as expected - class on Wednesday, as well as the usual visit from Penny, work on Thursday, and class on Friday. Kara and I had lunch together at IIT, Sofia practiced her driving and parking, and I hung out with Mark Agnini after class for beers. Staci and I got into a couple of interesting debates about the Old Testament that Mark had to break up to allow others in the class to participate. She was very much of the ‘directly...

A WellLived Life Book 4 BethanyChapter 59 Three Birthdays Two Jobs and a Play Part III

April 1981, Milford, Ohio The rest of the week went along as usual, with Kara accompanying me to the computer lab, and me going on my date with Elyse. Kara didn’t raise the issues that were clearly spinning around in her head, but I knew she would, eventually. I did pull Mary and Tracey aside separately and ask them to be careful about their teasing and joking around Kara. They both agreed to tone it down a bit, which I figured was the best I could do. On Tuesday when I arrived home, I had...

A WellLived Life 3 Book 1 SuzanneChapter 7 Reaching the Peak

March 25, 2000, Chicago, Illinois “What time do I need to have you home?” “8:00pm will be fine,” Misty replied. “My parents are in Normal visiting my brother at Illinois State. They aren’t supposed to be home before 10:00pm.” Misty and I were in my car on the way to the NIKA apartment which, fortunately, was not being used. With our expansion, it was in more or less regular use, and that meant I didn’t have access to it as often as I would have liked. I was glad there had been a delay in...

May 26, 1987, Chicago, Illinois “I suppose that does solve the problem,” Dave said when I told him about Tom. “I’m just surprised he didn’t tell me when I talked to him.” “I guess he wanted to talk to me because it’s my company. Honestly, it’s not our focus and if we had inquiries in that area, I think we should send them to Tom. We need to put as much effort into our main software packages as possible. We have four now, and that’s a tall order with six full-time programmers and two...

January 17, 1989, Chicago, Illinois “What time do you have to leave this morning?” Kara asked as we showered together on Tuesday morning. “About 8:30am,” I said. “I’m driving over to get Jeri, then heading to O’Hare. We have an 11:00am flight. Assuming all goes well, we’ll be in the office by 3:00pm Pacific time. We’ll spend a couple hours going over the software then go to dinner. The demo is tomorrow. Our flight back on Thursday leaves LA at 11:00am, so we’ll be home by 8:00pm, I...

A WellLived Life Book 1 BirgitChapter 7 Setting the Course of My Life

June 1977 Friday ended up being a non-event. The more I thought about it, the more I was sure that there was no way on this earth I could say what happened between Birgit and me was a sin. Calling it a sin would debase it into a meaningless act. I could never do that. And the more I thought about Jennie McGrath, the more sure I was that I couldn’t call what she did for me a sin, either. If the church was right, I was going to hell. And frankly, there was no way that could be true. So I...

A WellLived Life Book 10 The WifeChapter 39 TwentyTwo Part I

April, 1985, Chicago, Illinois Later on Saturday, Dave, Cindi, Julia, Elyse, and I got together in my office and hashed out our plans for getting started. My broad-strokes ideas were agreed to, and Julia said that she’d work out some timelines and basic project plans. She asked me to set up a meeting with Gerald Brown for very early in June and I promised that I would. All in all, it looked like everything was coming together nicely, which pleased me. On Saturday evening, I didn’t feel like...

July 22, 2000, Chicago, Illinois “Albert, do you have everything packed?” Mom asked. “Yes, Mom!” I replied, rolling my eyes because she’d asked before I went to bed. “He’ll be fine, Babe,” Dad said. “Let’s walk to the hospital.” I usually didn’t get up early, but Dad had suggested it would help Mom if I walked to the hospital with her because I was leaving to see Jane for three weeks. Mom, Dad, Aunt Kara and I left the house and headed down the sidewalk towards the hospital where Mom and...

May 14, 1997, Chicago, Illinois “Start talking!” Melanie demanded when I sat down in her office about an hour later. “There isn’t much to say. Katya found the information for me when I asked her to look into several things about Brandon Littleton, Kevin Lomax, and John Milton.” “Do you know more about him?” “A LOT more. I don’t think you want to know.” “Probably not, but I’m your criminal defense attorney, and even though San Antonio doesn’t have you involved in this, you know the CPD...

“So, how should we do these Stone’s songs?” Phil asked at our rehearsal session. “I think we all know the music, we just need to come up with a pretty awesome arrangement; we don’t want to sound like yet another cheap cover band.” “I had some ideas, if it’s okay for me to make some suggestions,” Allison said. “Of course it is,” Phil said. “Everyone can have a say, there’s no rule that says you can’t participate in the discussion.” “Thanks, Phil, I guess being the newest here, I’m a bit...

May 11, 1992, Chicago, Illinois Monday was turning out to be a LONG day. After my run and talk with Gina, and my talk with Elyse, I had a full day at the office scheduled. First was our leadership meeting in the morning, and then I had status meetings with each team. At lunch I’d gone to see Siobhán and explained that I was going to break off the sexual relationship, but that I wanted to remain friends. She was disappointed, but admitted that Thursday would have been the last time, since she...

January 19, 1989, En-Route from LAX to ORD When the engines of the plane started, Jeri reached over and took my hand. She held it while we pushed away from the gate, and taxied for takeoff. Her grip tightened a bit as we hurtled down the runway, but nothing like the death grip she’d had on my arm for the flight out. The plane roared its way into the air and once we leveled out, Jeri’s grip loosened but she didn’t let go of my hand. “How are you doing?” I asked with a touch of...

September 1982, Chicago, Illinois The weekend was quiet and besides homework, I worked on the program changes for Frank, called Karin, Tatyana, and Kara, and hung out with my usual study group. Monday was refreshingly normal. On Tuesday morning, I handed Katy my completed intake form. She put it in an envelope and stuck it in her bag. She said she’d let me know soon about the interview. October 1982, Chicago, Illinois The drive back to Chicago was as uneventful as usual, and I arrived at the apartment just before 6:00pm. When I arrived, Elyse and Stephie were sitting on the couch and Jackie was sitting on the loveseat. Stephie hopped up as I opened the door and greeted me with a hug and a kiss. “Hi, Peaches!” I said. “Glad you’re home, Yankee!” “Hi, Steve,” Elyse and Jackie both said. “Hey,” I replied. “How was the weekend?” “Well, it was just Kurt with me, Stephie,...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 3 JessicaChapter 52 Lifestyle Choices

June 11, 1989, Chicago, Illinois It was just after 3:00am when I kissed Trish goodbye. She’d been an enthusiastic, energetic, and adventurous lover. We’d done just about anything either of us could think of, though her breasts weren’t large enough for a tit-fuck. The last time had been in the shower where we’d ostensibly gone to clean up afterwards, but instead I ended up taking her from behind as she leaned against the wall of the shower. “I think I’ll have you again, Steve Adams,” she...

A WellLived Life Book 1 BirgitChapter 38 Freshman Year Ends

May 1978 The first couple of weeks in May were busy with school, work, and friends. Except for Becky, I didn’t even have any dates. But I was OK with that. Well, almost OK. I wanted to see Anna, but it likely wasn’t going to happen until school was out. I had tutoring sessions with Melanie, but she still wouldn’t talk to me about anything other than Spanish. Barely a hello. I was grateful for the tutoring, but it was maddening seeing my friend this way. I hoped someday she could understand...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 44 Spring Break 1982 Part I

March, 1982, Milford, Ohio As I drove along I-65, I thought about what Stephanie had asked for and what Bethany had said without even knowing about the request. Of course, because Bethany and I were so in tune, she might have actually had an idea that I was struggling with getting involved with my sister again. I kept turning it over and over in my mind and I kept coming to the same conclusion — that I shouldn’t do it. I was torn between doing what Stephanie wanted and doing what Kara and...

You were messing with me, weren’t you?” She grabbed both my hands and smiled, “I was telling the truth, in my own way. January 23, 1996, Chicago, Illinois “Father, bless!” I said, greeting Father Basil with upturned palms. “Bless you, Stephen,” he said as I kissed his hand. The waiter showed us to a quiet table along the wall of Roditys in Greektown. He took our drink orders and was back quickly. We placed our food orders right away and he left to put them in with the kitchen. “I’m not quite sure how to address this, so I’m just going to ask you bluntly. June 29, 1995, Chicago, Illinois On Thursday, I finally had lunch with Melissa again, something I hadn’t been looking forward to. Much like with Cèlia, Melissa and I had passed an inflection point and I was left with sub-optimal paths forward. I’d been struggling with the possible solutions, and all of them had pitfalls. When I walked into Takumi, I had something of a plan. Whether it was good or not would only be known once everything played out. “I spoke to my wives,” I said after we’d...

March 1980, Hovås/Göteborg, Sweden I woke early as usual, but just enjoyed being in bed with Katt. April 11, 1989, Chicago, Illinois Jorge finally came home on Tuesday afternoon. He was sore, but recovering. What hadn’t recovered was my sister’s attitude. August, 1983, Chicago, Illinois I walked in the near 90°F heat to Carla’s place. April 3, 1997, Dallas, Texas “Remember what I said about drinking too much,” I said, as I poured bourbon into three cups.
