December, 1981, Milford, Ohio

On Sunday, after swimming and having breakfast with Stephanie, I called Karin, and then Stephanie and I hung out until lunch. I had let Kara know that I was going to Don Joseph’s, so I wouldn’t see her. After eating lunch, I called Stephie to see how she was doing. Things were fine at home and she was hanging out with Red and Rose, plus seeing her other friends from High School. Daryl had called her, but she wasn’t going to see him.

“I miss you, Yankee. It’s three more weeks before I see you!”

“It’s not that long, Peaches. I was gone away from my friends for a year, once, remember?”

“Yeah, but I’m not used to stuff like this. I went to school mostly with the same kids from kindergarten on. Not to mention this itch I got,” she giggled. “I need you to scratch it for me!”

“I will. As often and for as long as you need it scratched!”

“I’ll hold you to that Yankee. If it’s anything like it was with your fingers, I think I’m going to need a LOT of scratching!”

“That was just coming attractions, Peaches. The real thing is far better!”

“Oh God, now I got to wait for three weeks thinking about that! When do you get back to Chicago?”

“On the Sunday before classes start, around noon.”

“Pick me up on your way home, Yankee. I’m going to make you prove it!”

“I will. I’ll call you from O’Hare when I land and let you know I’m on my way.”

We talked for another couple of minutes and I hung up.

“Well, I guess that answers that question!” Stephanie smirked, standing in the door to my room.

“Yeah. It was a foregone conclusion that last night before I came home.”

“What time are we leaving for the Grossi’s house and when are we coming home?”

“About 1:15pm. We’ll pick up Ed and we’ll be there around 2:00pm or so. We’ll probably be home by 8:30pm. Why?”

“I thought maybe you would take me for ice cream afterwards, just you and me. Graeter’s is closing their Milford store in about 10 days.”

“Sure. I’ll do that!”

“Cool!”

We were just getting ready to leave when the phone rang. Stephanie ran to pick it up. She called me to the phone.

“A girl. I don’t recognize her voice, but I’m sure it’s not Becky.”

I took the receiver and said ‘hello’.

“Hi, Steve, this is Anna Wilson. I hope I’m not catching you at a bad time.”

I was really surprised. It had been over a year since I’d heard from her, and although she’d been friendly at our last meeting, I’d hurt her pretty badly right after Jennifer had revealed to me that she was moving to Seattle.

“Hi, Anna. This is a real surprise!” I said.

“I know. I was sitting here reading my diary, and I decided to call you.”

That meant she was reminiscing. I had good memories about Anna until I’d done something stupid when I was out of control because I overreacted to Jennifer, keeping her family’s move to Seattle secret from me. Anna had hung up on me, but when we saw each other later that year at a chess meet, she’d hugged me, but that was only after reminding me that I’d ruined something that had been pretty good.

“I keep a journal,” I said, “and I’ve taken to reading stuff I wrote years ago from time to time just to see how my life has changed. I don’t mean to be curt, but I was just about to leave the house. We could talk later, if you want.”

“Oh, sorry! Would you like to meet for lunch one day this week? Maybe on Tuesday?”

That was an interesting turn of events. I’d always liked Anna, and she’d always been fun to be with, and we had dated for several months when I was a Sophomore. Having lunch with her would be OK.

“Sure. Are you still living at home?”

“Yes. Could you pick me up around noon?”

“I’ll see you then,” I said. “Thanks for calling!”

We hung up after she said goodbye. Stephanie was standing in the doorway to my room, her eyebrow arched.

“Anna? The girl from Turpin? What did she want?”

“Lunch on Tuesday. Other than that, I have no idea. I guess I’ll find out when I pick her up.”

“When’s the last time you saw her?”

“At the chess meet, a year ago last September. Before that was in July, I think. Everything that happened after Jennifer told me she was moving is a blur. It’s in my journal, but that’s back in Chicago.”

“You’re still keeping that up?”

“I am. I finally put it on the computer. I was going to bring it with me, but in the end, I decided to leave it. I carry a small notebook with me to write when I’m not at home.”

Stephanie sighed, “This isn’t home for you anymore, is it?”

“No. This is my parents’ house. Home is my apartment in Chicago.”

She looked so sad and lost when I said that. I pulled her into my arms and held her tight while tears streamed down her face. I’d really just hit on the crux of her problem. What for me was joyous freedom and escape was devastation and the despair of abandonment for my little sister.

“I love you Squirt, I’ll always love you.”

I realized as soon as I said it, that I’d made a huge mistake. Using that nickname held so many connotations and conveyed so much that I’d just landed myself in a world of hurt. Stephanie raised her head to show me a contented smile, then rested it on my chest and sighed deeply.

“Thanks, Big Brother,” she said, then broke the hug.

We walked out to the car and stopped at the Krajicks’ house to get Ed, then drove to Colerain Township to Don Joseph’s house. Stephanie and Ed sat in the back seat chatting while I was lost in my thoughts. I’d created the potential for a huge mess with my sister. If I did what that nickname implied, I was opening a whole can of worms. If I didn’t, I was likely to hurt her. The question was, which was worse? I had no idea.

It was tougher because I wasn’t even sure of whom I could talk to. Of all my friends, probably only Jennifer or Melanie could really have that conversation. Both of them were totally accepting of the relationship, though Jennifer might be too close to it because of her relationship with Stephanie. That said, she might have some good insights.

When we arrived at Don Joseph’s, Joyce was already there. As soon as I had greeted Don Joseph, she took my hand and led me to the guest house. She shut and locked the door behind us and pulled me into a tight hug and gave me a scorching kiss.

“I just saw you about three weeks ago!” I grinned.

“I know,” she laughed, “but you’ve been home for a week and other than two phone calls, nothing!”

“I’m seeing you tomorrow, and you’re invited to the party on Friday!”

“But I need some time ALONE with you!” she said, striking a sultry pose.

“And what exactly is it that we need to be alone for?” I smirked.

She dropped her skirt and then pushed down her panties, turned and knelt on the couch and shook her butt at me.

“Just like at your party, Steve. Quick! Before we’re missed!”

I chuckled and moved behind her. I dropped my pants, took my rock-hard dick in my hand, lined it up and thrust hard into her moist pussy. I grabbed her hips and began pumping in and out of her, slamming against her with each deep thrust. Joyce moaned and pushed back against me when I moved forward. It didn’t take long for me to cum, spurting cum deep into her pussy. The hot blasts set her off, and she groaned loudly as her pussy clenched tightly around me.

I stayed embedded in her for a moment, then pulled out, kicked off my pants and walked into the bathroom. I grabbed a washcloth and cleaned up, then put my underwear and pants back on. Joyce went into the bathroom, cleaned herself up, then put her panties and skirt back on, after inserting a tampon.

“I don’t want to leak!” she exclaimed.

“That’s the first time I’ve seen that done!” I said.

“It won’t be the last. Not with Kara moving in with you.”

“It’s funny, despite living with Elyse, and having a very close relationship, she’s very private about that. It’s about the only thing she’s private about, though.”

“Well, it is kind of gross and embarrassing at one level. I mean, having your period is natural and all, but having blood run out of your body for several days each month is kind of strange when you think about it.”

“If I bled that much every month, I’d be dead!” I quipped.

“Which just proves that women are stronger than men!” she said haughtily.

“They’re always in control, too. You’ve heard the joke where little Johnny goes to his friend Janey in kindergarten and shows her his dick and says, ‘I have one of these and you don’t’. She leaves crying. The next day she comes to school and pulls down her pants and shows him her pussy. ‘Mom says I have one of these and with one of these I can get as many of those as I want!’.”

Joyce chuckled, “Yeah. Except in your case. I believe Kara commented that you collect hymens like other kids collect baseball cards. You didn’t get mine, but you got me, so to speak.”

“Oh, I got yours!” I grinned.

“Smart ass!”

“Cute ass!”

We both broke up laughing. Joyce unlocked the door so we could rejoin the party. We found Stephanie in the living room. She told me that Ed was in Don Joseph’s study, so I walked in to join him and the Dons.

“Ah, Steve, «figlio mio», I see you have escaped the clutches of my disrespectful granddaughter!” Don Joseph said with a grin.

If he knew exactly what she was clutching and what she was clutching it with, he might not be so friendly! Then again, she’d hinted that he knew what was going on and so long as I didn’t make her angry, I had nothing to worry about.

“I hadn’t had a chance to see her since I’ve been home. She was rightly cross with me and I’ve learned the error of my ways!” I said with a grin.

“Your sister would kill me if I did something like that!” Ed joked.

“I think Stephanie has to be adopted,” I joked. “She’s at least part Sicilian!”

The three Dons all laughed, and Don Antonio said, “She does seem to be as feisty as girls from Sicily. You need to be very careful with those types of girls, Edward!”

“Yes, and of their fathers and brothers!” Don Carlo added, nodding towards me.

“I do NOT interfere with my sister’s choices in boys. I do NOT have a death wish, Don Carlo!”

“See, I tell you, this is a wise young man,” Don Joseph said, “He knows how to keep himself out of trouble with beautiful women like my granddaughter and his sister.”

I stayed in the study for about an hour, drinking Sambuca and talking with the Dons and Ed. I noticed that Ed was being treated somewhat like I had been years ago when I was working in the deli. I had some concerns about Ed getting in deeper than I felt he should, but, in the end, that was up to him. Stephanie knew what was going on and I knew if she had a problem with it, she’d tell Ed and that would be that.

When we left the study, we found Joyce, Stephanie, and Larry sitting at the dining room table drinking hot chocolate. It was well below freezing outside and nobody wanted to brave the cold. When I’d gotten up Sunday morning, it had been 4°F and it hadn’t gotten much warmer during the day. Ed and I got mugs of hot chocolate from Mrs. Grossi and sat down at the table. A few minutes later, Connie and her boyfriend sat down as well.

I was happy to see Connie with the same guy, because that seemed to have broken whatever spell it was that had her obsessing over me for years. That happiness was short-lived when she winked at me and licked her lips suggestively. My sister saw it, but Ed and Joyce didn’t. Stephanie elbowed me gently and rolled her eyes. I felt the same way. It seemed nothing, including having a boyfriend, was deterring Connie.

After we finished our hot chocolate, we all went to the basement to play pool. In all the years and all the times I’d visited the Grossi’s, I had never realized that the Don had a pool table. I quickly got over my rustiness and proceeded to whip everyone. Eventually, I was told to put the cue down and let others have a turn. I headed upstairs to use the bathroom and get a Coke. When I came out of the bathroom, Connie was in the hallway, blocking my path to the kitchen. I really shouldn’t have been surprised.

“Hi, Steve!” she said sweetly.

“Hi, Connie,” I said evenly, not wanting to encourage her.

“You can still have anything you want,” she whispered.

“We’ve had this talk before. Besides, you have a boyfriend.”

“So? Sneak out to the guest house with me. I’ll do anything you want!”

“I’ve told you ‘no’ before, Connie. The answer’s the same,” I said as I gently pushed past her.

She went into the bathroom without another word. If she dropped it, I’d let it go. If she didn’t, I’d let Joyce know. And Joyce would deal with it quite harshly, I was sure. One thing was for sure — I had not wanted her before, but being willing to cheat on her boyfriend made absolutely sure that I’d never be with her. I got my Coke and headed back downstairs.

Dinner at the Grossi’s was always fantastic, and tonight was no different. The Don’s wife was a master in the kitchen. Joyce wasn’t all that far behind her. I had learned to cook, and was getting pretty good, but the Italian women were in a totally different league. I smiled when I saw dessert — peach cobbler with ice cream. Not exactly an Italian dish, but it made me think of Stephie. It also made me think of how Stephie tasted, which caused a reaction that the table hid quite nicely.

After dinner we had coffee and about 7:30pm, we said our goodbyes. I hugged Joyce and told her that I’d see her tomorrow evening, then headed out to the car. Ed handed me the keys to the apartment, saying that Stephanie had told him that I needed them Monday night. I pocketed them and we got in the car and drove back to Milford. We dropped Ed at his house, then headed for Graeter’s.

“Two desserts in one night. I’m going to need to swim a hundred laps tomorrow!” I said.

“Oh, I can think of a way to burn off those extra calories, Big Brother!” Stephanie smirked.

I just let the comment go with a smile. I still had to figure out how to deal with my comment earlier. Stephanie hadn’t said anything about it, and the tease she’d just made was similar to other ones, so I wasn’t too worried. Not at the moment, at least. We both ordered sundaes and sat down to eat them.

Stephanie ate her cherry then smirked at me, “Hmm. I don’t seem to have any cherries left! Do you know what happened to them, Big Brother?”

I chuckled, “I might have an idea where they went.”

“Oh, you know damned well what happened!” she smirked.

“Stephanie, we need to talk about this,” I said softly.

“Not here. Let’s finish our ice cream,” she said.

We finished our ice cream and headed back to the car.

“You have the keys to the apartment, Big Brother. Let’s go there.”

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 32 Home for the Holidays Part III

December, 1981, Milford, Ohio I pulled into the driveway at the Spencers’ and went inside. Melanie was halfway up the stairs and turned to say hello. “Want to spend some time in the sauna with me?” she asked. “Only if you promise to behave. I need to make a phone call first, and it may take a bit of time.” “I do. And I’ll wait. If you want privacy, use the extension in my room. I can read while you’re on the phone.” I nodded and walked up to her room and shut the door. It hadn’t changed...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 14 A Southern Belle a Surprise Proposal two Cheerleaders an Old Flame and a Girl Back Home Part I

October 1981, Chicago, Illinois I arrived back at the apartment just before 10:00pm and saw the address for the party. I decided I wasn’t particularly interested in going so I put on some music, poured myself a glass of wine, and started reading more about Russia. I was alternating between the history and culture book and the Communist Party book, decided on the history and culture book for this time. I didn’t get much reading done because I was thinking about Tatyana, which led me to...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 34 Home for the Holidays Part V

December, 1981, Milford, Ohio On Tuesday morning, I swam and ate breakfast with my little sister and hung out with her until it was time to head out to see Anna. I was still surprised that she’d called out of the blue, and was really curious as to what it was that she wanted. Even though I hadn’t driven to her house before, I’d been there enough times to remember how to get there. I parked in the driveway, then walked up to the front door and rang the bell. Anna opened the door almost...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 9 A Trip to Milford Part I

September 1981, Milford, Ohio Friday was routine until lunchtime. Afternoon classes had been canceled for both Elyse and me because of the Labor Day weekend, so I drove back to the apartment instead of having lunch on campus. Elyse and I packed our overnight bags and waited for Kathy and Bethany, who arrived as planned, and we left Chicago just before 4:00pm. It was my goal to make the trip to Milford in just under five and a half hours, which I could do if we grabbed fast food on the way...

A WellLived Life Book 7 Kara IIChapter 21 He Will Tell Thee What Thou Shalt Do

July 1982, Milford, Ohio On Tuesday morning, I kissed Kara goodbye and headed to my parents’ house for my usual morning routine with my little sister. She was happy that I could spend the morning with her and asked to take a walk, so we weren’t in the house with my mom. “Let me guess — this walk will end in the clearing,” I said with a smile. “Yes,” she said, taking my hand as we walked down Overlook towards Klondyke. As usual, we turned around and walked back, taking the path to the...

November, 1982, Chicago, Illinois On the Tuesday following Halloween, when I got to the Sig Ep house, I invited Dave and Cindi to join Stephie, Elyse, Eduardo, and me for a dinner party on Friday. They agreed and when Julia arrived, the three of us went upstairs to work on our next project. So far, we had solid A’s on all of our projects. For the next two weeks, we’d be building a 4-bit adder circuit, which was the most complex thing we’d done so far. When we finished, Julia asked me to...

A WellLived Life Book 7 Kara IIChapter 38 Transformations Part II

November, 1982, Chicago, Illinois I checked my watch and felt I had enough time. We pulled the bed out and this time we made love the conventional way. After she had three good orgasms, I filled the rubber with cum. We were on a co-ed floor, so Julia lent me a large towel and I went to the guys’ showers to wash up while she did the same in the girls’ showers. We met back in her room, dressed, hugged and kissed and I headed to The Bog for a quick bite before my afternoon class. After class, I...

October 1981, Milford, Ohio Kara and I headed to Frisch’s for lunch. Our food arrived quickly, and we started eating. “A lot has happened in the last week,” I said. “Oh?” “Bethany has a steady boyfriend in Madison.” “Really? I had hoped something like that would happen, but I wasn’t counting on it. I always thought she was going to wait until you actually married before she did something like that. So she’s really moving on?” “That’s a good question. I would say that she’s recognized...

I’m coming home this weekend and I was wondering if I could borrow the keys to the apartment.” “You and Kara? On Saturday? I’m sure the answer is yes. A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 44 Spring Break 1982 Part I

March, 1982, Milford, Ohio As I drove along I-65, I thought about what Stephanie had asked for and what Bethany had said without even knowing about the request. Of course, because Bethany and I were so in tune, she might have actually had an idea that I was struggling with getting involved with my sister again. I kept turning it over and over in my mind and I kept coming to the same conclusion — that I shouldn’t do it. I was torn between doing what Stephanie wanted and doing what Kara and...

September 1981, Chicago, Illinois, and Milford, Ohio When Elyse arrived home she found me sitting in a beanbag chair drinking some of the bourbon that I’d had Joyce get for me. The wine was stashed in my room, though I left two bottles on the kitchen counter. “Uh oh! What’s wrong?” Elyse asked. “Just thinking,” I answered. “About Bethany?” “Yeah. It’s good, but it’s sad. She’s always depended a bit too much on me and now she’s moving on. We didn’t break up, per se, but she’s going to...

October 1981, Chicago, Illinois Friday was a cool, cloudy day. It was getting late in the year and we had passed the point where the nights began to be longer than the days. I knew that it wouldn’t be too long before I’d have to find something to replace jogging, at least for the couple of months where it would be brutally cold and snowy. I had found an ice rink, but it wasn’t convenient to either home or school. I decided to ask Sensei Jim for an exercise routine that I could do indoors, in...

June 1982, Milford, Ohio On Wednesday morning, I once again made breakfast for everyone. Joyce did the dishes after breakfast, and then we all sat in the living room with cups of coffee. The ladies from the church would bring lunch, and around 3:30pm we’d head to the Noakes Funeral Home for the visitation. I dreaded that, because I wasn’t a big fan of being in the same room as a dead body on display. There was just something that creeped me out about the whole idea. But I would be there to...

A WellLived Life Book 7 Kara IIChapter 42 Christmas Break

December 1982, Milford, Ohio When I arrived at the Blanchards’ at about 10:20pm, Kara was waiting for me. She quickly came out to the car, and we headed to the Spencers’. I opened the front door of the house with my key and we entered the mostly darkened house and went up to my room. I brought in only the things I would need for the night, deciding that I could bring the rest of my things into the house in the morning. Kara and I made love, then cuddled afterwards. “I never asked you what...

A WellLived Life Book 7 Kara IIChapter 29 Which Way Forward

August 1982, Chicago, Illinois I woke early on Sunday morning after a good night’s sleep. I was pleasantly surprised to not find Elyse in my bed. I wasn’t sure what our relationship was going to be, and I wanted to talk to her before anything happened, rather than afterwards. I went out to run, though I really would have preferred a sauna to help clear my head and organize my thoughts. When I got back, Elyse had just started a pot of coffee and I went to the shower. When I finished and...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 49 Spring Break 1982 Part VI

March, 1982, Milford, Ohio On Saturday morning, I was up early as usual. As I was leaving the house, Trudy let me know that Melanie and Pete would be home later in the day and hoped to see Kara and me. I asked her to let them know we could have dinner if they wanted. I was sure Kara wouldn’t mind that. I’d call her later to let her know, so she wasn’t surprised. It wouldn’t interfere with Kara’s and my playtime because Melanie and Pete would understand. I got in the car and headed to my...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 18 For My Own Good

October, 1981, Milford, Ohio “What do you want me to do?” I asked. “Oh no, you don’t! It’s not about what I want, it’s about what you want. And you have to be sure that what you say and what you do line up with what you want. Telling Kara you’ll get engaged to her next Summer but starting a relationship with a new girl in Chicago is hardly consistent! I’d say that qualifies as ‘misbehaving’ by any reasonable standard, AND so was sleeping with Elyse.” “OK, let me rephrase that. What’s your...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 58 Rest and Relaxation Part II

May 1982, Milford, Ohio Thursday was very much like Monday, with swimming and breakfast with Stephanie, a lunchtime tryst with Dona, and then a quick lovemaking session with Kara before we went to the Krajicks’ to pick up the apartment key from Ed. Our next stop was Fazio’s to get the groceries for the menu that Kara and Joyce had worked out. We also stopped at UDF for ice cream for dessert. We arrived at the apartment a few minutes before Joyce and Terry — just long enough to unpack the...

A WellLived Life Book 5 StephanieChapter 23 Joyce and Kara

July 1981, Milford, Ohio Tuesday’s lunch at Kara’s was similar to Monday’s, though Kara’s mom spent a bit more time talking to us. It became totally clear to me that she was supportive of our relationship. I didn’t think she’d do anything to clearly violate her husband’s decisions, but knowing that she was there for Kara made me feel a lot better. Kara and I exchanged a nice kiss when I left around 2:30pm for my date with Joyce. I went home and showered and dressed. I left a bit earlier...

A WellLived Life Book 7 Kara IIChapter 4 Saying Goodbye Part II

June, 1982, Milford, Ohio “You know what? We need to eat something,” I said. “Let’s see your sister and your dad first, and then we can go out,” Kara replied, sounding very tired. We pulled into the driveway at my house and after I parked, we went inside. First, I went to find my dad and asked if he’d come talk to me and Kara privately. My mom glared at me but said nothing. It was cool and overcast, but not raining, so we went out on the deck. “Dad, I wanted to let you know that Kara and...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 27 Thanksgiving Break Part IV

November, 1981, Milford, Ohio Kara came out quickly when she saw me pull into the driveway. I barely had time to stop and go around to open the door for her, for which I was rewarded with a quick peck and a sultry look of promise for later. We headed to Skyline, where Kathy wanted to meet. Kathy and Kurt were already there when Kara and I walked in. I introduced Kurt and Kara to each other, then all four of us ordered, with Kathy insisting that Kurt get 5-way. We had a nice lunch and a good...

A WellLived Life Book 7 Kara IIChapter 24 Fast Cars Fast Women Part I

July 1982, Dawsonville, Georgia My drive south took me into Kentucky and I stopped for lunch at Wendy’s just after I passed through Lexington. As the countryside rolled past my windows, I reflected on the things that had happened recently. I hadn’t been keeping my journal as closely as I should have and resolved to spend some time alone at Stephie’s to put my thoughts on paper so I could put them in the computer when I got back to Chicago. I was a bit concerned about the situation between...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 40 A New Semester

January, 1982, Chicago, Illinois On Monday, I woke up early to do my exercises and karate kata, then showered and made breakfast. Elyse showered while I exercised, and Stephie showered while I made breakfast. “You two had a good time yesterday!” Elyse whispered as I put the food on the table. “Yep!” I smirked. Stephie came out of my room and sat down at the table. The three of us ate and then Stephie and I headed to IIT. We stopped at her dorm so she could drop her overnight bag, then...

November, 1981, Milford, Ohio Stephanie was waiting for me when I pulled into the driveway and came walking out to the car. “So?” she smirked. “A wildcat, just as you predicted. She’s going to be sore for a couple of days, I suspect.” “Tell me about it! I sure was!” “You both asked for it!” I grinned. “Oh, I’d do exactly the same if I had to do it all over again. Did you get her unconscious?” “No, I did not. And I thought we weren’t talking about stuff like this!” “Special...

A WellLived Life Book 7 Kara IIChapter 31 Back to School

August 1982, Chicago, Illinois I woke up to the alarm on Monday morning, kissed Stephie, and quickly slipped on my running clothes and headed out. I took a slow, easy pace and worked to clear my mind and prepare to shift my focus to my schoolwork. The Summer had been a combination of fun, emotional highs, emotional lows, and adapting to the reality that Kara wasn’t going to be with me this year. On the other hand, I had Stephie, Elyse, Kurt, and Kathy close, and Kara was less than six hours...

November, 1981, Milford, Ohio On Sunday, I spent the morning with Stephanie swimming and eating breakfast, as well as making my call to Karin. I had lunch with Larry before heading over to Don Joseph’s house. The weather wasn’t good enough for bocce, so I sat with Don Joseph and his friends and talked before dinner and with Larry and Joyce after dinner. When it was time to leave, Joyce followed me outside. “Can I come spend the night with you?” Joyce asked. “Sure. I’ll see you at the...

July 1982, Chicago, Illinois On Sunday morning after breakfast, Kara packed her things, said goodbye to her mom, and followed me to my car. I drove to the Spencers’ to pick up my things, where I thanked Trudy and reminded her that I’d be back on Friday. Kara and I took my bags to the car, loaded them in the trunk, and set off for Chicago. As usual, the drive was uneventful. July 1982, Milford, Ohio Kara and I awoke, and she took a quick shower before we drove to my parents’ house so I could swim and have breakfast with Stephanie. My dad joined us for breakfast before he had to leave for work. After cleaning up the kitchen, we went to my old room to hang out with Stephanie for about an hour before heading back to the Spencers’. May 1982, Milford, Ohio On Monday morning, I followed my usual routine for being in Milford and had lunch with Trudy Spencer after our sauna. That afternoon, Krista and Beth were coming over to talk about business. Kara would join us as well. Beth arrived about 2:30pm and Krista and Kara walked over from the school campus and arrived about 2:45pm. The three of us were very happy with how things were going. We had a total of twenty-two veterinary clients paying a monthly support fee, about a...

March, 1982, Milford, Ohio “What’s the craziest thing you’ve done, Tracey?” “That one’s easy! Asking Steve to the Sadie Hawkins Day dance!” “What?!” Kara said, looking askance. “Think about it. I was a frumpy, shy girl with no self-confidence. I asked the school sex god to take me to the dance, knowing full well I’d probably end up losing my virginity, though I was worried he wouldn’t do it with me. Boy, was I wrong! July 1982, Milford, Ohio Sandy came into my room and shut the door, shaking visibly. She leaned against the door and didn’t move further into the room. “Relax, Sandy,” I said gently, trying to ease her nerves as best I could. “Are we going to do it now?” she asked, her voice cracking with emotion. “No. We’re just going to talk,” I said. I could see visible relief. That confirmed to me that she was very nervous about doing this and I needed to be very cautious. “Talk about what?” “About...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 47 Spring Break 1982 Part IV

March, 1982, Milford, Ohio On Wednesday morning, I swam with Stephanie and we ate breakfast together. I avoided talking about Saturday or what we might do. I still had no clue what I should do, and the implications of my decision were huge. I wondered if Stephanie could handle the conversation about the deep meaning behind what she was asking, and I wondered if she understood the implications. The fact that she and Jennifer were talking meant that she and Jennifer could have discussed this...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 42 Will You Be My Valentine

February, 1982, Chicago, Illinois On Monday morning, while Stephie and I were driving to school, she asked what I was doing for Valentine’s Day. I let her know I was going to Ohio, but that I’d be happy to celebrate with her either on the 11th or the 16th, because I was taking the three-day weekend in Milford. “I guess that will have to do,” she sighed, “because it does make sense that you would be with Kara on Valentine’s Day.” “Are you going to be OK, Peaches?” I asked. “Do I have a...

January 1982, Chicago, Illinois Bethany and Gene arrived just before 10:00am on Sunday morning. The apartment was full as both Warren and Stephie had spent the night, and Kurt and Kathy were staying the weekend. The plan was to have a big meal together around 3:00pm so that Gene and Bethany could get back to Madison before 10:00pm. Bethany was in great spirits and seemed very happy. A WellLived Life Book 7 Kara IIChapter 23 Old Friends and New Lovers Part II

July 1982, Milford, Ohio Joyce, Kara, and I sat quietly on the lower bench while the steam built in the sauna. I was really going to miss the easy access to a sauna when I went back to Chicago. IIT had a steam room that I could use, but they required towels and it wasn’t ever quiet. It also wasn’t co-ed. “Joyce, I didn’t see Terry at your grandfather’s house yesterday,” I said after about five minutes of silence, other than the steam hissing and our breathing. “He’s sort of upset with...

July 1982, Milford, Ohio Thursday, Friday, and Saturday were nearly identical — swimming and breakfast with Stephanie, spending the day with Kara, finding time for a sauna, and making love in the evening. I did end up sleeping alone on Saturday night because I took Kara home so she could go to church in the morning with her mom. February/March, 1982, Chicago, Illinois I made good time on the drive back to Chicago despite the light drizzle that I ran into just south of Gary. I walked into the apartment to find Stephie and Elyse stretched out on the couch, each one leaning on an arm and their legs alternating so they could put them out straight. “You two look comfortable,” I said, taking off my shoes and coat and dropping my bag. “Hi, Steve,” Elyse said. “Hi, Steve,” Stephie echoed. Doing that with you was always my favorite thing!” “Oh, really?” I chuckled. “Actually, yes. You holding me in your arms while we slept was the most amazing feeling. November, 1981, Milford, Ohio We made good time, arriving at Kathy’s house about 2:00pm. December 1981, Chicago, Illinois I really should have guessed that what Jennifer was saying was prompted by a girlfriend who saw me as a competitor, but I had to know if it was just Jocelyn, or if it was from Jennifer’s therapist as well. “And not your therapist?” I asked. “No. The reason Doctor Clauson didn’t want me to come is because she knows how I feel about you and that you’re in a serious relationship with Kara. August 1981, Chicago, Illinois We ended up not getting crazy that night. We made love and fell asleep in each other’s arms. We woke up the next morning and repeated what looked like was going to be the pattern for the school year — I jogged and Elyse showered, I showered, and then we ate breakfast. “Bye, Honey! Have a good day,” she said again. I headed to IIT and after parking I walked into the Stuart Building for Computer Science 200. I’d been permitted to skip CS100 because I already...

April/May 1982, Chicago, Illinois I made very good time driving back to Chicago, assisted by the radar detector, and arrived at my apartment before 6:00pm Chicago time. As usual, Stephie and Elyse were sitting on the couch when I walked in. “Well, another fantasy up in smoke!” I teased. “Get your mind out of the gutter, Yankee!” Stephie exclaimed, getting up to hug me. “Did you have a good weekend?” “I did. December, 1981, Chicago, Illinois I made good time on my drive back to Chicago, arriving just before dinner. Other than one stop for gasoline and the restroom, I had driven straight through. When I pulled up in front of the apartment, I didn’t feel like cooking, so I parked, dropped my things inside, and then walked to the Chinese restaurant and got takeout. April 1982, Chicago, Illinois and Washington, DC Sunday evening, after dinner, I excused myself and called Joyce. I knew she’d have good advice for me, knowing the full situation. “Shit,” Joyce said, “That is really bad. Some of those guys don’t care about age. July 1982, Milford, Ohio It was getting close to the time that both Kara and I had to leave, and Kara was still crying softly as I held her in my arms. I simply held her tight and occasionally kissed her hair and whispered that I loved her in her ear. “Kara honey, are you going to be OK to have lunch with your mom?
