I wake up at a weird time. I look at my watch. It is two forty.
I look over at Danny. He is facing me now. He looks really peaceful.
I notice how his black eye looks even worse now, and his lips is starting to heal a little bit. I hear voices outside the room. I walk over to the door, listening. I hear the kidnappers voice, and someone else. I can't tell who it is.
I turn around when I hear Danny moving.
I look over my shoulder at him.
"Danny!" I whisper. "Someone's out there!"
He looks over at me.
He comes over, and puts his ear to the door.
He walks back over to the bed, and beckons me with his hand.
"Danny, what's going on out there?!"
"I have no idea, but he cannot know that we heard that, okay?"
I nod, "Danny, do you think that there are some other people who are here besides us?"
"I don't know, and don't really care, but all that is important now is us, and we have to get out of here."
"How though? I mean, I doubt that anyone can find us! What are we going to do?!" my voice rises.
Danny puts his hand over my mouth. "Shh ... not so loud."
He keeps his hand over my mouth for longer than necessary. I almost have to brush him off. Our kidnapper unlocks the door, and Danny drops down and shuts his eyes, pretending to do be asleep. I do the same. Our kidnapper comes in, and I hear his footsteps. The next thing I know, I am grabbed, dragged off the bed, and literally thrown on the ground.
"Ow!" I cry out in pain.
I open my eyes, and find the kidnapper there standing over me, looking meaner than usual.
"Hey Danny, why don't you come over here and help your little girl out. Did you see that? Did you see what I just did to her?"
I try to sit up, boosting myself up on one elbow. I get a shove back down to the ground. I see Danny sit up, and then leap onto the kidnapper from behind. He knocks him to the ground, and then slugs him. The kidnapper pulls a gun out of his pocket.
"Danny! Look out!" I shoved myself off the floor, and lounged at Danny and the kidnapper. I slam his arm to the ground, forcing him to drop the gun by pounding his wrist. He drops it and flails for it, I kick it away.
Danny punches him right in the nose, and then our kidnapper sends him a hard punch that literally sends him flying to the side. Danny groans, and then struggles to get up. He can't.
I guess it's my turn. I jump on the kidnapper, and pound him with my fists, but whoever said that cheerleaders were strong. I mean, I guess we are when it comes to doing gymnastics stunts, but otherwise we are not that strong. I stand up, and kick him, over and over again, then he seems to come to life and grabs my legs, pulling them out from under me, and sending me straight to the ground. I moan, and can't move. The kidnapper slaps me hard, and then grabs me. Danny crawls over, and grabs the gun. He stumbles to his feet, collapsing once or twice, and then holds it out in front of him, aiming it at our kidnapper.
The kidnapper pulls me in front of him like a shield. Danny's hands shake. "April! Move," he says, his voice shaking.
I try, but our kidnapper holds me solid.
"Danny! Don't shoot!"
The kidnapper speaks up, "Go on punk, shoot. Let's see how great your aim is. If you have good aim, I die, and you go home. If you have bad aim, your honey here goes out like an old light bulb."
Danny shakes even more, but doesn't shoot.
