The desires to live in harmony and to help their fellows were the dominant desires in their psyche. The War and the return to a darker age that was survival orientated had dominated their existence in the last couple of thousand years. These factors had reawakened some of the base desires.
For most of the people, it wasn’t a real problem as the stronger desires and their entrenched societal beliefs kept them in check. They believed that by helping others, you bettered yourself. For some, like for humans, they could see a use for fulfilling the other desires that they now experienced more strongly. Collin, I was to learn, was such a person.
