I'd just handed Daddy a fresh cup of coffee when his cell phone rang. He went out into the living room to talk and came back a minute later.
"That's an emergency. Are you going to be OK?"
He had his attention on Mary when he said it and she scrunched up her face a bit as if she was trying not to cry and nodded her head.
I said, "I'm staying home. We'll be fine, Daddy."
"Mary, I'm sorry I wasn't any more help. You know Charlie. If there's any way he can get to a phone, he'll call you tonight."
She sniffed, gave him a halfhearted smile and said, "I know."
He held his arms out to the side, sort of a 'Sorry, I wish I could do any more' gesture. That's not the way Mary took it, though. She ran over to him and he had a sniveling female clinging onto him before he knew it. He just wrapped his arms around her and stroked the back of her head the way he used to with me when I came crying to him.
She stayed there a bit, then backed off, took a deep sniff and said, "I'm OK now."
"You sure?"
"Yeah. You don't know how much you helped me today. I don't know how I can ever thank you."
"Mary, you're family. Don't think anything of it. There's nothing to thank me for."
He made more excuses and hugged me, then went out to his car and took off as Mary and I stood in the driveway, watching until the car was out of sight.
I heard a quiet humming sound and noticed that there was a new garage door and it was lifting up from the ground. When it got high enough to see inside, I saw Alex with a remote in his hand.
"Hi, Jill. Mary"
We both said Hi back to him.
"That door looks good, Alex."
"Thanks, Jill. At least it matches the rest of the garage now. Pretty soon the house will, too."
He pointed over at the front of the house. The whole thing was gray with white trim, just like the garage. I saw the edge of the scaffold sticking out a foot or so on the far side of the house.
"Are you going to be able to finish today?"
"Probably not. Some of the trim needs repair. We'll need to replace a couple of pieces and Bondo the rest."
Mary said, "Bondo?"
"It's the stuff they use to fix dents in cars. Like a super thick putty. It dries real hard, real quick and you can sand it."
He took her hand and led her out to the side of the house and pointed up above the kitchen door. "See that wood up top? How it looks like it has pits in it?"
"Uh huh."
"Well, that's from the weather. We've already checked it out and the wood's sound except for those pits. It would be crazy to replace a twelve foot piece for that. A little Bondo and a coat of paint and it'll last another twenty years. Heck, it'll probably last longer than the wood. Termites don't like Bondo. There are a couple of pieces in the back that have some dry rot and we need to replace them, though."
I said to him, "Does that mean you're going to drag this on for the rest of the week?"
He looked at me. "No, we should be done before noon tomorrow. Of course, if you two lovelies are going to be around all week, I have some workers who might like to drag it on."
"Good luck with that. Speaking of workers, I didn't see Rudolfo."
"Rudolfo is supervising another job today. He's going to be heartbroken when he finds out you were here and he was stuck somewhere else."
"Poor Rudolfo. I'm sure he'll survive."
"Oh, I'm sure he will, too."
"He's probably sweet talking someone over at the other job."
"I don't know about that. He couldn't stop talking about Mary's mom this morning."
"Well, if anyone can handle him, she can. See you later. You have a house to paint and we have some dishes to do."
We went inside and I picked up dishes while Mary started filling up the sink.
"So, little girl. Are you trying to steal my Daddy?"
She dropped a mug in the sink and it made a splash. Her whole body slammed back as if she'd been hit and she looked petrified.
"I didn't mean anything... I just..."
"Hey. Hey. It's all right. I was kidding. There's plenty of him to go around."
She looked up at me, hopeful but hesitant. "Really?"
I hugged her. "Really."
"It's just that I haven't had a dad since I was five..."
"I know. Mary, I know how you feel. I haven't had a mom for longer than that. Not until I met Jack and your mom let me have her. There's plenty of Daddy for all of us. And he's not as gruff as he pretends to be. He's really a great, big teddy bear."
"It felt so good when he was holding me."
"Yeah. I trained him good."
Mary washed and I dried and put the dishes away. I was surprised; I knew where just about everything went. Mary talked about Charlie calling tonight and how she felt better now that she'd heard from him and my father had called around and talked to us. She said she wasn't too worried about his mother because he didn't say anything other than they got her to the clinic. If anything was really wrong, she was sure Charlie would have mentioned it.
It was 11:30 when we were done. Mom wasn't going to be home till tonight and Jack wouldn't be here until at least 5:30. It was kind of dumb for me to go to school, especially since I didn't have any way of getting there.
I asked Mary, "Is there anything you'd like to do?"
"Yeah. Can we go up to your place?"
"Sure. What do you want?"
"I want to show you something on Jack's computer."
Jack has never said anything to me about his computer. Well, once he told me he'd put a password on the picture files of the day Mary and I got the stuff down in the garage and washed the cars. That was the day we teased the hell out of him with our shorts and our tight shirts with no bras.
I know computers. I want to work in the industry and I'm taking classes at the JC. If he wanted me to keep my hands off his computer, he probably would have said something. Or maybe he didn't feel he had to because I really had no interest in his system. It was a few years old and I had a notebook that would run circles around it.
Anyway, when Mary said that, I felt a little twinge of something. If you wonder what would happen if you got caught at something, that's a pretty good indication that whatever you're planning on doing isn't completely kosher.
"Have you used Jack's computer before?"
"Oh, yeah. Lots of times."
"With his permission?"
"Jill, he let Sara write her reports on the thing. It's no big deal."
I didn't see any real problem. He'd let her use it before. She couldn't hack it with me standing right there, even if she wanted to. And it's not like I could call Jack at school. Right. Pull him out of class to ask him if we can use his computer.
"Mary. I've got a new laptop. What do you need Jack's for?"
She was practically dragging me up the stairs by this time. Bozo had barreled through us and was up at the door already but Dino was following us patiently. "I'll show you. This is gonna be great."
She went right over to the computer and turned it on. I went into the kitchen and got us a couple of glasses of juice while it was loading up. Mary was leaning forward, her eyes stuck on the screen, tapping her right foot impatiently. I stood behind her, a little to the right so I could see the monitor.
As soon as the hourglass was replaced by the standard cursor, she double clicked on My Documents and then on a folder marked Stuff. I felt that little cringe when she was asked for a password. Mary typed six digits and it opened up. She looked up at me and said, "His birthday." She turned back and I saw that there were quite a few folders plus a bunch of avi and a few Quicktime files. Most of them had names of a two to four letters with an added number here and there.
"Mary? What is this?"
"You'll see." She had the closest thing to an evil grin I'd ever seen on her face.
She moved the cursor to a folder labeled BBVG and double clicked. There were six avi files, numbered 1 — 6.
"Oh, Goody."
She double clicked on 6 and Jack's media player opened up. The screen was about an eighth the size of the monitor and she expanded it to full screen. I knew one thing she said was true — Mary had done this before. Lots of times.
It looked like an ordinary movie. It displayed the name of the production company over a blue screen, then there was a shot of a volleyball game. All the players were women. One team had black shorts and the other had white. They looked a little old for high school; maybe college. But they sure didn't look professional. All of the women were a bit on the heavy side. Not grossly overweight but a little chunky. And there wasn't a sports bra in the bunch. It sure didn't look like any of the girls had played volleyball before, either. My team could have taken on both of the teams on the screen and skunked them. They played for about half a minute and I don't think either team returned a ball that made it into their court. Except for the bouncing tits, they looked like a bunch of young kids playing around at a company picnic.
Then the title came on the screen and I knew this wasn't a movie you'd see at the local cineplex.
Jack and Jill - A Naughty Nursery Rhyme by Lubrican Once upon a time there was a boy named Jack, who had a twin sister named Jill. They lived with their widowed mother in a small cottage at the bottom of a big hill. You may even have heard of them. There was a well known poem that was written about them going up that hill to fetch a pail of water. But what you probably DON'T know is the REST of the story of what happened that day. Jack was a strapping lad, 5'10", wide at the...
Jack was sitting down at his computer when I got home. "Jack, I've got to get going." "Going? For what?" "Oh, shit. God damn it, this is getting ridiculous. Today is the day we're burying Vivian. My mother." "Oh. I know I've been busy, but I'm certain that's something I would have remembered." "I know. There's just been so much going on with school and the emancipation and all of your appointments." "Well, no use crying about it. How much time do we have?" "Jack, I...
Just because I found things to do while Jack conducted his interviews doesn't mean I let the second wave of girls have at him. I answered the door for three of them and made an appearance in the kitchen after I'd been down to the house for the last. All of them were well aware that I was there and had staked my claim. I'm pretty sure Jack knew what I was doing by the way he smiled at me as I delivered each one to the kitchen and replenished my apple juice when I got back from Mom's. He...
I detoured to the office on the way in. Ms. Evans hadn't arrived yet so I left the list of books she was going to get for me in her box. I saw Julie on the way to Creative Writing. I caught up with her and called her name, tapping her on the shoulder. "Oh, Hi Jill. What can I do for you?" Not quite defensive, but definitely cautious, hesitant. "I just wanted to tell you how much I liked your talk yesterday." "Well, I think he willdo a good job." "Oh, I know Jack will do even...
Jack and Jill by Vickie Tern ([email protected]) Authors foreword "Jack and Jill" is a novel in ten chapters averaging 30k each about a fictional cross-dresser like you or me in fact or fantasy or remote curiosity, or else why have you read this far, and how he or she became the person who is narrating the story. It's mostly TG and femdom, with forced or tricked or cajoled feminization, but of course also m/f and m/m and f/f in various u.c. and l.c. combinations, and also...
I did sleep like rock. I remember dropping my clothes in the hamper and laying down. Then I woke up to find myself holding Jack's hand against one of my tits and feel his cock pressed into my butt. I scooted back a bit, enjoying the feeling for a moment. Unfortunately, the alarm clock rings way too soon when you're up half the night. I reached over and turned it off, pulling away from Jack. I went out to the kitchen. After I started the coffee, I sat down at the table and called up the web...
Becky said, "That sounds like a pretty easy password. What if somebody figures it out?" "It's not like it's going to be there forever," I told her. "I'm planning on having all the permission slips by day after tomorrow and then I'll take out the password." "But then anybody will be able to get into and change whatever they want to." "Beck, it doesn't work that way. There are different levels of protection. This one is so nobody sees it until your parents say it's OK. My...
Jack said, "I still don't understand why you have to eat mine. I told you I'd get you a bowl." "I don't want to get fat." "Jill, you'll get just as fat eating mine as you will eating out of your own bowl." "Maybe. But it won't be as much fun." June wiped her mouth again. "Give it up Jack. Woman's prerogative." "And there's nothing I can do about it?" All three of us said, "Nope." I guess he figured he wasn't going to win because he changed the subject. "Who...
I would have loved to snuggle up with Jack on the ride to school but I had stuff to do and I was in enough trouble already. First off, I got out my Geometry book and did the final problem while chewing mouthfuls of oatmeal. Loads of fun trying to find enough hands to hold a bowl of oatmeal, a spoon, a book, pencil and paper. Having my book bag on the floor between my legs added to the fun. I started reading the chapter we'd been assigned in History next. It was just like Mrs. Jenkins to...
Jack and Jill went up a hill, to fetch a pail of water. Jack fell down and broke his crown, And Jill came tumbling after. Once upon a time there was a boy named Jack, who had a twin sister named Jill. They lived with their widowed mother in a small cottage at the bottom of a big hill. You may even have heard of them. There was a well known poem that was written about them going up that hill to fetch a pail of water. But what you probably DON'T know is the REST of the story of what...
What Jack said about Arthur really bothered me. I went over and over what Jack told me about their conversation, comparing it to Jack's half of it on the phone which is all I actually heard. I knew he wasn't lying; Jack would never lie to me. This was a lot different from his habit of not telling me things to surprise me. I think what bothered me the most is that I wasn't too thrilled with Arthur to begin with. Liz and I got along great and I trusted her completely. And immediately. Just...
Jack and Jill meet It was when I went to the patio to enjoy a cigar after dinner that we met. On the road for business, I found a decent bar and grill near my hotel where I was welcome to enjoy a fine smoke. I had dinner and then moved outside for a relaxing smoke in the cool weather. I lighted a Churchill-sized stick and after a few minutes of solitude, an exotic looking brunette spoke from just behind and to the side of me. “I love the smell of a fine cigar,” she said in a sultry voice that...
She MalesTrue story I’m not an author of any substance, however I wanted to capture some events and fantasies that I’ve had. Im hoping that Jill (The subject of this story) will read this My name is Jack. Happily married for over 20 years, living in London. A few years ago I met Jill at a business meeting. At the time we were competitors in business, however due to the magnitude of a mutual project we were forced to co-operate together. Jill is what most men dream of. She weighed about 55kg...
I've heard it's impossible to stop the flow of urine once it starts. That may be true. I know it can be slowed down greatly because I saw it happen. When I looked out the door after Mary called me, it looked like Dino was spraying a garden hose with a sprayer nozzle on it. I could hear the bell like tones as the urine splattered against my frying pans. I let out a noise, something between a screech and a scream but the name Dino was mixed in there too. And it wasn't friendly. It was...
I robotically went through the motions to shower and change as one thought after another assaulted my mind. What did she want? That was the million dollar question. She wouldn't be here if she didn't want something. Daddy? Was she now willing to settle down and enjoy the things in life his hard work could now provide her? After she'd left him to establish and build a practice plus raise a daughter on his own while she had her fun? Or worse, was she planning to worm her way back into his...
I knew all along that I could take the whole thing in my mouth. Jack had his own ideas, though, and dragged me around on top of him so he could do me at the same time. Sixty nine is fun but it can be frustrating. The better you are at your half of it, the more effort it takes to hang on as your partner's body takes over and does its own thing. The only thing I can compare my end of it to is having someone trying to force a flexible jackhammer between your lips - one that spews goop as it's...
I reached up and turned off the alarm. "Come on, Babe. Time to get up." "Uhhmm. Leave me alone." I smacked her on the ass. "Come on. Karate in one hour." I walked downstairs and was almost knocked over by Bozo on the way down. I opened the kitchen door to see Mary sitting at the table, eating a bowl of cereal. "Hi, Jack." "Mary. Where were you last night?" "I went to the dance. You know that." "Not then. This morning." "I was at Charlie's." "At 5 in the...
The alarm woke me up and I had to untangle myself from Jack to turn it off. I had just finished putting on my robe when the phone rang. Jack tried to bury himself beneath a pile of blankets and pillows while I answered it. It was Mary, wondering if we were going to karate. I told her we were still on, that we'd just have to make sure to come straight home so we could get going to the playoffs. She hadn't decided if she was going to go early with us or finish some things she was in the...
"Boy, these eggs are good, Girls. Did you make them all by yourselves?" Jack said to Laurie and Annette. "Almost," Laurie answered. "Maybe we should hire them to make all our meals, Jill. How's a nickel a day sound?" Annette said "Uh uhhh." "OK. Two nickels." Laurie said, "No way." Myra said she'd do it for three nickels, then Eric and Julie complained that they put all that work in and didn't get any nickels. I saw some movement out of the corner of my eye and looked...
Jill and Wanda finally stopped talking about our adventures in the pool and the charcoal was ready for the meat. I went into the house and told Dr. O'Hara. He went into the kitchen and brought out a big rectangular Pyrex dish covered in tin foil. He set it down on the table next to the barbecue and took off the foil. It was filled with chicken breasts. They had obviously been marinated with a sauce of some kind. "OK, Jack. Now you get to see what chicken's supposed to taste like. Why...
I made it to class about five minutes early. I was heading over to my normal seat when Mr. Douglas said, "Jill, please bring your laptop over here." He was standing next to the podium he usually set his laptop up on when he wanted to demonstrate something to the whole class on the big screen. I walked over to him and he said, "Go ahead and set up. There's a mouse there if you want it. I'll introduce you and then I'd like you to take over for the rest of the class and explain what you...
Jack and Jill: The Awakening of Priapus and Venus Jack Manly and Jill Comfort sat across from one another at a table in a dimly lit bistro, holding hands, gazing deep into one another’s eyes. Their voices were low and becoming throaty as they talked quietly. The flickering candle light added subtle highlights to Jill’s (Dare I use the cliché?) peaches and cream face which was framed by a lustrous cascade of raven colored locks, and mesmerized Jack. Jill was no less effected as she stared...
I heard a sound; something I was familiar with but didn't recognize. Then a short, sharp bark. I opened my eyes and saw Bozo right in front of me. He started licking my face as if it was covered in chocolate and he was trying to get it all off. I pulled back and realized I was grabbing onto a pillow as if I had my arms around someone. I knew the bed was empty behind me before I turned around to make sure. Bozo started whining. That was the sound I'd heard but not quite heard before the...
Jack looked at the house. "I guess we should make an appearance." "I want to take our stuff upstairs. I'm sure Bozo needs to get out." "You're right. He's been up there since this morning." Jack got the door but there was no mad scramble to get down the stairs. I felt a hard knot in my chest as my first thought was that something must have happened to him. It must have shown on my face because Jack said, "I'm sure he's downstairs in the house." I took my bag into our room,...
The scene reminded me of an old Western. The room got quiet as everybody turned around to look at Sara and her dance partner; the band stopped in the middle of their song. The only thing missing was a bartender diving down behind the bar. The spell was broken as two faculty members appeared from nowhere and made their way over to the two of them. Chris was on his way in from the sidelines as Jill nudged me toward Sara. I looked at her, wondering why she was pushing me. "Go on." I walked...
I stood up and so did Sara. "Thanks, Jack." She kissed me on the cheek and wrapped her arms around me. We were standing in my new kitchen hugging each other when I heard Jill's voice. "My, my. What have we here?" "Oh, Hi Jill. It's not what you think." "Oh, really? And what do you think I think?" "You probably think this is all innocent and I did something nice and Sara's thanking me. It's really a prelude to going in the bedroom and having mad, passionate sex." "Oh. I...
Sara watched Jill and Mary as they walked toward the store, gossiping and laughing. "She must really hate me." "No, she doesn't hate you. She understands you. She understood you before she even met you. Jill doesn't look at things and decide they're the way they look on the surface. I'm just the opposite. I take everything anybody says at face value, and it's gotten me into trouble. A lot. No, if Jill hated you, I know you wouldn't be in this car today and you probably wouldn't be...
We discussed where to go out to eat. Laurie was a little young to appreciate Perlione's or the country club. Jack suggested Home Town Buffet and told Laurie how she take her own plate around and put whatever she wanted to eat on it. That sold her on it and she started hounding everybody, asking "Can we go now?" every couple of minutes or so. Daddy finally got up after twenty minutes of this. "Honey, why don't we meet you over there? We'll take Laurie to the restaurant and get...
I didn't do my cleanup in the gym. Going to school was something I wanted to do; I would have felt I was taking advantage if I didn't. Coach was aware of today being Jill's birthday and I had no qualms in not swinging a mop over the gym floor. And if he didn't want to pay for this week, that was fine. After all, I hadn't done anything to earn any money. When I got home, Mom's Lexus was in the driveway but I didn't see Wanda's car. I opened the door to let Bozo out. Wanda and Jill...
Jack took four pictures that I wouldn't mind framing and hanging in the hallway. The rest were very private; a couple of them would make a porn star blush. Those went on my hard drive in a password protected folder. It took a lot for me to hand the memory card back to Jack without reformatting it. Both of us could get into a lot of trouble if those pictures found their way into the wrong hands. And we all know how easy it would be for them to end up on the Internet. I wanted to say...
"Damn, Mom. I oughta bring you to school for show and tell during sex ed." "Well, there's no reason a girl has to torture herself to bring pleasure to her man. And if she does it right, it will be more pleasurable for him, too." "Well, it seems to be very popular with a lot of people. I read that they spent $25,000 to make Deep Throat and it's brought in over six hundred million." "I'm sure it has. But Linda Lovelace's husband got her to learn how to do that by putting a gun to...
The three of us walked out of the courtroom and into the elevator. We got to the first floor and went to an exit around the corner from the metal detectors. Both Daddy and Arthur had been quiet since we left chambers except when Arthur told us which way to turn. We got to the street and Arthur said. "Where are you parked?" Daddy pointed to the lot across the street at the corner and said, "Over there." "I'm around the block. I'll meet you over there. Eastside,...
Jack pulled into the driveway just as Claude was pulling away. They must not have recognized each other because neither acknowledged the other that I could see. It was pretty chilly out so I closed the door. A minute later I heard Jack trudging up the stairs. I went to the door and opened it. He was on the landing with a big green trashcan at his feet. "I already gave at the curb," I said, pretending to close the door in his face. "That's fine," he shouted through the door. I'll just...
On the way to school, Jill said that she wanted to go furniture shopping on Saturday. I agreed to go out with her to see what was available. I had an idea that furnishing the bedroom, living room and getting a kitchen table as well as all the linens, dishes, silverware and all the other stuff that goes with moving into a new place was going to overtax my meager funds. It had seemed like a fortune when I got my ebay payoff, but I was beginning to realize that with the plans I had for her...
We got to the car and Jack stopped up short. "Did you leave anything inside the car? " he asked. "I don't think so," I said. "Why?" "It looks like someone's been inside it." He walked around the car, checking doors. "They're all locked. But Laurie's seat and her DVD were in there when we got here and they're gone now." "Wait a minute." I got out my phone and pressed 6 to call Daddy. He answered after the first ring. "We're ready to leave for home. You wouldn't happen...
"Give me a couple of minutes to make up a folder for Gina," Jack said. "That's fine. I'll go put on the coffee." I took the plate with the two cinnamon rolls on it and put it on the kitchen table, then started a pot of coffee. I went to the freezer and put the rest of the cinnamon buns on a plate and put them in the microwave, not turning it on yet. Jack came in and sat down at the table, grabbing one of the rolls. The coffee maker went through its dying gurgles and I poured a couple...
At 9:25, I pulled into the parking lot at the junior college. I got out and made my way over to the gate. The guard checked me out, recognized me and waved. I was waving back when Jill ran up to me. She wrapped her arms around my neck and I spun her around as she kissed me. Kind of like Mary Tyler Moore without the hat. Or was that That Girl? "Wow. This is new. Why so affectionate?" "Can I help it if I miss you?" "No, I guess not. I'd rather have you in my arms than have you ignore...
Bozo looked a lot better with the blood washed off. He did have a scratch about an inch and a half long that was a little over a quarter inch wide near the middle, but it wasn't very deep. Of course, he was perfectly willing to lie in my lap and have me hold him. Jack came back after getting rid the bloody washcloth sat down next to me. He reached over and scratched Bozo behind the ear. Bozo half opened his eyes, saw who it was, thumped his tail a couple of times, then closed his eyes. "I...
I went into the kitchen and looked at the message board next to the wall phone. There was a message that Jill called with a phone number from our area code that I wasn't familiar with. I dialed the number and a man answered, "Talk to me." "Uh, I'm trying to reach Jill O'Hara. This is the number I have for her." "This is Dr. O'Hara, her father. Who is this?" "Oh, hi John. It's Jack Hill." "Oh, Jack. Hang on a minute... Jillian, there's an obscene phone call for you." This...
It had only been a day, but it felt strange to be going back to school. Spending a day in the middle of the week with Jack was amazing. I like my sleep, and getting up at 5:30 every school day was going to take some getting used to. But being able to snuggle up to Jack and hold his arm all the way to school would make it worth my while. Over the past couple of months, there had been several turning points in my life. Running into Jack was the first one, of course; the one that started it...
Jack and Charlie looked at me like I'd grown another head when I came out of the bedroom. "What?" Jack said, "Did you just say twat?" "Oh, come on, Jack. Don't tell me you've never heard the word." "I've heard it. I'm just surprised to hear it from you." "Girl talk, Jack. Girl talk." Charlie decided it was time to check in with Mary and Jack needed to finish copying his notes. "I'm going to take Bozo out and then I'll probably spend some time with Laurie." "How are...
Nurse Clipboard must have thought it was safe now. She ran into the makeshift delivery room after John and Mom left and confronted Jill. "We need to do an APGAR score on these children. You're putting the hospital in a terrible position." I heard the clipboard hit the floor and Jill said "Stick your APGAR up your ass, bitch. And clean up that mess." Jill stormed out and was followed shortly by Nurse Clipboard who now had twins in her arms, no way to do anything with her hands and was...
Tuesday morning came around too early. My alarm went off a half hour before I was used to getting up since I had to take Jill to school first. I heard some noise out near the garage but not enough to wake anyone up. I remember when the next door neighbors added a family room to their house. Once the workmen started, there was no way anyone on the street could sleep. It was as if they had every power tool under the sun, and they had to all be on at once. One more reason to appreciate Alex. I...
"Oh, Shit!" Jack said. "Did you call Silverwood?" We were on the way home from the grocery store. "Yeah, I talked to Claude. They all left early today. He said we didn't miss anything." "That's good. I'm sorry. I didn't even think about it till just now." "That's OK. They're my customer so it's my responsibility, not yours." We got home and Bozo must have smelled the chicken because he followed us into the kitchen, his nose in the air. He was quite disappointed when I...
Alex and Jorge finished up going through three plates of pancakes and a couple of cups of coffee. Jorge got into the blueberry syrup, he'd never had it before. I was done and went out to see what they were up to. Alex had a long handled squeegee that he used on the floor. It wasn't dry but it wasn't flooded, either. In the meantime, Jorge opened up a long roll of plastic on the front lawn. He went up the stairs to the second floor, got up on a ladder in the middle and measured from the...
I untangled my shirt from the waistband and worked my skirt down, tossing it in the hamper. After taking off the shirt, I used it dab between my legs to clean what hadn't already dripped out. I threw it at Jack, who caught it one-handed. "You can clean up the carpet while I take a shower." Jack and I have this battle going on about whose mess it is. I say since he made it, it's his. He claims it's a gift to me and if I choose to drip it out, it's my problem. So far, neither of us has...
Laurie and Posie were chasing butterflies on the front lawn when we drove up. It looked like the butterflies were winning but neither of them seemed to care. Posie was still working on that running thing, tripping over herself whenever she tried to go too fast. Mary was sitting with her back against the wall, reading a textbook. As soon as we pulled up to the curb, Laurie started running toward me, Posie right behind her. Mary put her book down and made her way to Charlie, though not quite...
We got Myra cleaned up and she started to leave. Laurie asked where Annette was and she told her the kids were down in the car. That meant getting a sweater on Laurie and going down to the car so she could say hello to her friend. Billy seemed happy to see me and Bozo. Yes, Bozo had to go down, too. And Posie. When we got back upstairs, Daddy and Mom were still talking at the kitchen table. I got the pot of coffee and topped everyone off. Again, I got the 'can't believe this coffee'...
Telling Jill I'd sleep anywhere as long as she was with me was obviously the right thing to say. She held on to my arm and pulled close, a little sigh escaping her lips. I relaxed and was almost asleep when she spoke. "Jack?" Oh boy. Now what. "Hmmm?" "Do you remember this morning? In the car?" "Uh Huh. What about it?" "I told you I'd make it up to you for being there last night. I owe you, Jack." Her right arm untangled itself from mine and I felt her hand snake under my...
You have to have warm dinner rolls with lots of butter when you eat beef stew. If it's not the law, it should be. We'd stopped at Vons and picked up a tube of the things. I tossed them to Mary when we walked into the house. Sara look kind of wary when she saw the Tupperware. "What is it?" "It's beef stew." "It's not going to be like yesterday's, is it?" "Nah. This smelled pretty good. And Jill made sure she didn't screw up." "All right, then." Jill emptied the stew into...
Bozo spent the night in the garage with us. He stayed over near the water heater. Mom had told Jill to take responsibility for what she was doing to me while we were doing our chores earlier. Jill had promised to make it better. She did. I'd planned on talking to her about what she and Mary talked about while they were washing Mom's new car. That idea went out the window. Jill wouldn't let me put shorts on and she was naked when I turned out the main light. We got into bed and the next...
Laurie's action confused me. Did she think of me as just another DVD on the pile, another person to come into her life for a while and then leave? I wanted to tell her that I would always be around, that she could count on me, but I knew it wasn't true. My life was getting busier and busier every day and I just didn't have the time to spend with her like I was today. Less than a year from now, there was a good chance Jack and I would be gone, off to a college in some city far away. Would...
The alarm went off at 6:00. I got up and Jill moaned. Bozo came over to me and made himself known. I'd totally forgotten he was in the garage with us. He really was a pretty good dog. I opened the side door and saw that the outside lights were still on. Bozo ran out to squat as I flipped the switch. Jill came up behind me, put her hand on my shoulder and gave me a quick kiss. "See you inside. Gotta pee." I saw her open the kitchen door, step up with one foot, then screech "Daddy!" I...
We all sat down to dinner. I was glad we'd taken that walk. Mom had roast beef with mashed potatoes and gravy and asparagus covered in sour cream. "So how was your big date." "It was fine, Mary." "Did you get any?" "Mary, I don't want to hear talk like that. It's Jackie's business whether he got any or not. How would you like it if he asked you if you put out when you start dating?" My father's name was Jack Raymond Hill. When I was born, they named me Jack Royce Hill. So...
I gave them time to get home, then called John on his cell phone. "Talk to me." "Hi, John. It's Jack." "Hang on, I'll get her." "Wait a minute. I need to talk to you. I need your OK before I buy her something." "Jack, I said I wasn't ready for that..." It was after dinner. The only reason we were getting into this was that I needed to borrow her car to make it work. "Jack, I think it's too soon. Look at you, you were ready to give up on girls last week. You just gave...
Jack got home a little after five thirty. When he kissed me and asked "How was your day?" I felt like Donna Reed. Pretty good. I could get used to this. After we swapped some spit, I asked, "Did you shower after practice?" "Yes, Ma'am." He turned his head and pulled the top of his ear down. "See?" "Good Boy. Now you need to take Bozo out and let him do his business for about five minutes. And when you come back, I need you to lock the front door. Then let me know you're back,...
My body tried to jump up but something was holding my right arm down. I came up to consciousness and saw that it was Jill. She moved a bit and moaned. The banging that had awakened me started up again. "Amuhmfamfh" was as about as coherent as I could be this soon after waking. "Jack. Jill. Come on, breakfast. Mom wants to talk to us." I was able to get out a fairly understandable "In a minute, Mary." I reached over to get my underpants but they felt stiff. "I used them to clean...
Daddy had his eyes closed and was conducting Beethoven's Fifth Symphony as I came up to the car. It was easy to tell because he was at the da da da daaaah part. He turned toward me as I opened the door. His face looked relaxed and he smiled at me silently, leaned forward, turned the key and started the engine. We eased out of the parking lot towards home. He listened to the CD for a while, then lowered the volume. "How did it go?" "Real good. I think Myra's going to come work for us....
