I followed Stan the Man any time I could even when the police said I should take a day off. Ten days later I was rewarded with recorded evidence the police would need. The legal issues of how the police obtained the recording were not my problem. I'm sure they could figure something out.
Brianna was angry that I changed my mind and wouldn't help her mom. Alyssa was mad because I wouldn't help her grades. She actually had to study to get a good grade! Alex was mad because I decided to break up with her. She only liked me in the first place because of what I did for her dad. As great as the night in the motel was, I knew I didn't love her anymore. I would always have wonderful memories of those three girls but it was time to move on with my life.
My break-ups with the girls unfortunately didn't stop them from still asking and bugging me for favors. My life would so suck if it wasn't for the fact I could finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. It took Mallory to realize the light was always right there. I just had to turn and face it. I so loved Mallory.
I did a couple more tasks for the police over the next week. I was so busy with the police work that Mallory and I didn't have time for each other except at school, but my new girlfriend, the loving, accepting person she was, understood all that. We would have our special time together one day or night soon enough.
I was called out of class at 10:30 on Wednesday. Martin and Sandoval were waiting in the admin office as I suspected.
On the drive, Martin explained the situation. "We have a bank hostage situation. Two armed men holding six employees."
"So armed like in guns?"
"Yes."
I was waiting for the right situation. Unfortunately, this wasn't it.
When we arrived, I was outfitted with a bulletproof vest. It was so heavy! It was a good thing everything weighed nothing when I was invisible.
"So survey the situation and get back to us," Martin instructed.
"Sure."
Away from the eyes of other police, I vanished.
I walked through the walls of the bank. I had long stopped thinking of using the door when I was visible.
Six people were face down on the floor in a row. Two men paced back and forth muttering to themselves. I didn't see any guns.
"I have to use the bathroom," a female hostage said.
"Shut up!" a man screamed and put his hand in his coat.
The gun was a fake. I understood a bank teller couldn't risk that a gun might be real, but I was already positive there were no guns. This was a bank robbery gone bad.
"What do we do, Mike?" one guy said.
"Shut up! I don't know yet," Mike said.
I headed behind the bank counter and looked around for something that would make noise while remaining unseen. A metal trashcan on the floor was my only option. I bent over, became visible, and instantly fell to the floor because the weight of my vest had returned.
"What was that?"
"Check it out, Eddie," said Mike.
I suddenly realized this might be the opportunity I had been looking and waiting for. I decided to risk it. I kicked out at the trashcan causing it to clatter.
"Hey! Who are you?" said Eddie.
"Sam," I said, sitting up on the floor.
"It's a kid, Mike!"
"A kid?" Mike said.
Eddie pulled me up to my feet. "You're heavy. He's wearing a vest!"
"He's a cop!" said Mike.
I said, "Stop or I'll shoot!"
Neither bad guy pulled out a gun. That confirmed to me that they had no guns.
"You're no cop!" Mike said.
"That's what I'm trying to tell the police. RUN!"
A couple of the hostages got up and darted for the door.
Mike and Eddie turned, so I briefly disappeared and appeared a few steps further away from the entrance to the counter.
"Hey!" said Eddie when he turned back. "Where do you think you're going?"
"No where," I said.
He grabbed my shirt.
"Help!" I cried out. "You can fight them. They don't have guns!"
There was only one male hostage but he became bold and attacked Mike. Eddie slugged me in the face and went to help Mike. I crumpled to the ground.
"Ow!" I moaned. I didn't feel good at all.
A couple of minutes later, the cavalry came charging in and the situation was pacified.
"Sam!" It was Martin. "What happened?"
"I punched his fist with my face."
Martin smiled at my lame joke. I knew there was a reason I liked her.
"You were supposed to come back out and tell us what was going on. You weren't supposed to try to capture them yourself."
"I couldn't."
"Why not?"
"I couldn't turn invisible."
"What? Because of the vest?"
"No. I turned invisible going in here. I don't have the power anymore."
"Oh."
I was debriefed at the station. Dennison looked so sad at my bad news. I hoped he got his fifty thousand dollars worth.
Martin wanted to drive me home alone without Sandoval. We were almost to my house when she said, "I don't blame you, Sam."
"For what?"
"You know."
I just looked at her.
She pulled up to my house. "You have a great life, Sam. I'm sure it will be, now that it's back to normal."
'Thanks."
"And one more thing. Stay out of trouble because I'll know where to look."
I laughed and said, "Yes, ma'am."
I called a meeting Friday afternoon at Brianna's house with Alex and Alyssa.
I talked about the events of the bank hostage situation.
I concluded it with, "So I've lost my powers."
I pretended to wipe a tear from my eye, but if there really was a tear it would've been because I was happy and not sad.
"What?" Alyssa reacted. "Nooo!"
"Really?" said Brianna shocked.
I nodded.
I hate to admit it but seeing the girls so sad gave me great happiness. I know it was wrong to think like that but the girls were never genuine with me. It took me too long to figure it out but it was reality.
Author's Intrusion: In chapters 5 thru 9, Sam explores the darker side of his new powers and it gets to the very edge of Sam going too far, but in chapter 10 Sam comes out of it and the story takes a big turn in its direction. I woke up Sunday morning shaken. Last night's anxiety dream involved many pretty girls begging me to fuck them but I couldn't rematerialize. The dreamed compelled me to ask my sister a few questions. "Sara?" I said, rapping on her open bedroom door and entering....
I tried the bathroom door again but Sara was still in there. She was in there for forty minutes now. I was to the point where I would need to overcome my laziness and use the downstairs bathroom. Sara finally opened the door attired in a party dress. "Where are you going?" I asked. Sister looked nice. "What's it look like? A party." "There's a party tonight?" "Don't get excited. You can't come. It's invitation only." I didn't expect to go. I didn't get invited to a party...
Sara and I both slept in late Saturday morning. Mom worried we were sick. Mom worried too much. I spent several hours on the internet doing research. I looked up the last names of several girls that I was interested in compromising and found addresses that I hoped corresponded. Most addresses should but there was always the chance a family address was unlisted while someone else had the same last name in the school's neighborhood. By 3:30 I was on foot, invisible, and on my way to Kim's...
Sara asked, "Did you hear about all the crazy stuff that happened at school today?" "Yeah." "That boy Cody goes crazy and some boy breaks his hand in a fight." "It wasn't a fight. He tried to hit me." "You? Why did he try to hit you?" "He thought I made that DVD of him and his girlfriend having sex?" "Why would he think that?" Sara said with a laugh. "I don't know." I shrugged. "So those DVDs are for real? I thought someone made it up" "Uh ... yeah. Someone put...
It was Sunday evening. My parents were used to me being out a lot more and even my sister covered for me by saying I had more friends from school now. Yeah, Sara! I went to the school and passed through the locked gates with my paint can and brush. I wore my backpack. I stopped in front of one the classrooms. I opened the can earlier with a screwdriver so the lid was lightly on. I took the lid off and dropped it to the ground. I put my brush into the paint and put the can down. I painted on...
I arrived at Michelle's house by six. Her parents were gone fifteen minutes later. Michelle was alone. Michelle watched TV but I could tell she was distracted. At about a quarter to seven she went to her room. She sat on her bed and took a deep breath before slowly undressing. When she was naked, she pulled the covers all the way back. My cock throbbed hard as I watched. She lay down and looked at the clock. When it was a couple of minutes before seven, she took the mask out and put it...
Sara knocked on my door. She came home from her date with Andy by nine because tomorrow was a school day. She entered my room. "Andy loved it," she said. "Loved what?" I asked. "The perfume. He practically ravaged me." "Uh ... you're welcome," I said not sure how to respond. "What's wrong? You look sad." I wasn't sure why I blurted it right out but I did. "Kendall saw that you have the same perfume I gave to Brianna. Now Brianna wonders if you have the same secret admirer...
Brianna looked at me. "Hi," I said softly and nearly stammered. She continued to stare. "I ... I'm the one who sent you the gifts." She still said nothing which made me anxious. She finally said, "Do you want to come in?" "Sure," I said. I followed her into the den. She sat on one end of the couch and I sat on the other. "You probably didn't expect it to be me," I said. She shook her head. I wished she'd talk. "I ... I like you a lot," I said. "Your name is Sam,...
I walked to school with my sister the next morning. "You seem extra happy," Sara commented. "I am," I replied. I still had a rush from yesterday. I turned a wrong into a right and the end result was better than I imagined. Not only was Mike gone but Lisa had his job now. She was the shift manager. So cool! "So what did you do?" "What do you mean?" "You know what I mean. Did you go spy on a girl?" "No. I haven't done anything like that for a while." "So what did you...
I didn't get up until past ten the next morning. I dressed and went downstairs. "He's not dead after all," Mom said from the den. "Just tired," I mumbled. I still wasn't fully awake. Sara kept staring. "What?" I mouthed. She shook her head. I poured a bowl of cereal and joined my family in the den. "Everything okay, Sam?" Mom asked. "Yeah, Mom." "Make sure you get enough rest." "I will." Sara smiled again. What was with her? I watched TV. Dad had the early game on...
Brianna sat with my group of friends during lunch. It wasn't as awkward as yesterday but it was still awkward. "Hey, Mallory," Brianna said. "I was wondering if you'd like to come over to my house after school." "What for?" Mallory said with suspicion in her voice. "Just hang out and do girl stuff. Play with make-up and our hair." "I'm not into that." Brianna looked at me. I spoke up. "Why don't you do it, Mallory? Brianna can teach you some things to make yourself...
Alex and Alyssa's dad, Allen was his name, often unreasonably yelled, in my opinion, at the girls and at their mom, Cheryl, so I got a small taste of what they had to live with and it would certainly wear on anybody day after day after day. No one went to bed until eleven and I had to wait and watch Allen and Cheryl have sex which would have been exciting right after I first received my invisibility power but I was dating Brianna now and kissing her too, so viewing parental sex was...
When Brianna spotted me at school on Monday, she greeted me with the biggest public kiss ever and I'm sure the school's "affection police" would have got on our case if they saw but only other students saw a beautiful cheerleader kissing a nerdy boy one year younger than her. I loved the facial reactions of the other students. I could tell it was the hardest thing for Brianna not to say anything about what I did this weekend during lunch. Now that my project for Brianna was done with I...
"My mom is happy for me," Brianna said when we arrived at her house after school. "About what?" Lisa wasn't home so she must have left for work already. When we showed up to her house after school, half the time Lisa was just about to leave and the other half she just left. "That I finally found the right boy to give my virginity to." "You told her?" I said surprised. I and my sister did not have any inclination to tell our parents we were sexually active. "Yes. She wanted to...
Mallory wasn't the prettiest girl on campus but she definitely had moved into the top 25 prettiest girls in my opinion. Her transformation caused students to literally turn heads as she passed by. I always thought that phrase was figurative but I saw people turn heads. This Monday Mallory was a primary topic of student conversation. "How is it going?" I asked Mallory during lunch. She had an insufferable smile on her face. She deserved it for at least this first day. "I didn't expect...
I've always had a love-hate relationship with school. I loved to learn, liked most of the teachers, and liked hanging out with my few friends. I hated almost all of the other students because they looked down on me simply because I was smart and I didn't know anything about style and fashion. I was thought of as a nerd. It didn't seem right that I, who earned top grades in my classes, should be looked down upon. It was why I and my fellow nerd boys and girls ate at the edge of the lunch...
Alex picked me up at seven Friday evening. We both determined that we would be too excited to go out to dinner. It would be a waste of food at a restaurant, so we each had dinner at home. I didn't eat much. I was just too impatient. We were unusually silent during the drive to the motel but it wasn't an awkward quiet. Instead it was a reflection of our mutual anticipation. Alex pulled into the motel. "It's nice," she commented. It was okay. It was an auto traveler's motel. It was...
I sat in a room that I very much thought of as a police interrogation room. If I wasn't in trouble as the police told me then what was I doing in here? "We're going to start with a few basic questions," a female officer said. She was Officer Martin. There was a male officer in the room too. He was Officer Sandoval. "Okay." Martin asked for my name and where I lived and about my family and about school. It was all questions I'm sure they already knew the answers to. I looked at...
I foolishly thought everything was okay, but when I arrived at school Alex was not happy. "What was going on?" she angrily said. "The police acted like I was a criminal! As if I was the one holding the girl hostage! They kept asking me questions about you but all I could say was I knew you did something but I don't know how or what." "Everything is okay," I tried to soothe. "The police are okay now. We're not in trouble." "So what did you say?" I didn't answer. "You told...
Alyssa said during lunch, "So Sam, have you thought any more about my history test?" "What?" "You know..." "Alyssa!" warned Alex. "I'm not saying anything." "Not now," I said. "Talking about it or helping me?" Mallory chimed in. "Are you tutoring Alyssa?" "Not exactly," Alyssa said with a coy smile. I stood, grabbed my lunch, and walked away. "Where are you going?" Alex said. "Nowhere," I mumbled and headed off. I found a quiet place leaning against a school...
She’d begun to think of herself as the Invisible Girl. She’d had friends: kids she’d grown up with, stumbling through the grades together in the Boston suburb of Ridgeton, connected by the endless and complex threads of shared experiences in their small world. And many of them had continued on to the local two-year community college, just as she had. But somehow between grade-school and this, her first year of college, it was as though some spell, working so slowly as to be unnoticeable, had...
“Have you ever wanted to be invisible?” Jane had been waiting in line to get into the cafeteria for lunch when the sound of his voice made her start and turn around…to find him standing behind her and pretending to read the book he held open in his hands. She had never told him about being the Invisible Girl. She still often felt invisible when she wasn’t with him, especially when she was at home. But it seemed to her that lately, she was gradually, if sporadically, becoming more...
This story takes place in my Burkes Virus universe. Invisible No More By Morpheus The high school hallway was full of noise as well as the hustle and bustle of nearly the entire student body rushing about lunch. I grimaced as I made my way through the crowd, completely ignored by just about everyone as I made my way to the lunchroom. "Watch it dweeb," a large guy exclaimed as he stepped into my path and I nearly ran into him. "Just great," I grumbled, quickly dodging away from...
They were off to his Saturday night A.A. meeting. Jane’s mother had originally started going along “to be supportive”, as she’d explained to Jane at the time. Also to make sure he got there, Jane thought. But her mother had come to, if not enjoy the meetings exactly, look forward to them somewhat; to sitting and talking with the other wives and husbands in the same situation. This of course meant that, between A.A., the counseling sessions and her parents’ other commitments, many nights...
As Peter walked her home Jane told him the whole story of the Invisible Girl, and how she’d felt seen for the first time when he’d spotted her in the coatroom that night. How, even though she’d been terrified when he’d come into the girls’ bathroom and made her his slave, she’d also been thrilled by it because he really seemed to see her. How she’d been becoming more and more visible to other people. How she’d been doing better when reading in front of a class. “Though of course now I’m...

At the request of an astute editor, I am including a brief summary (or 'cheat sheet') of the characters who are in the story, "Invisible Empire." This is intended to help clarify who is who. While I have excised most of the plot spoilers, please note that there are still some reveals in the dossiers for each character. This file would be best read AFTER you've completed the entire story, or if you are truly lost. Characters are listed alphabetically by their first name, and each entry...
George had been standing at a busy intersection, when an old woman with a walker ambled into onrushing traffic. George sprung into action, with barely a thought, stepped into the road, wrapped his arms around the woman’s waist and yanked her backwards and to the side, they both tumbled to the ground next to the curb, George cushioning her fall with his body, the truck came to a screeching halt 40 feet down the road. The woman’s walker was now a crumpled twist of aluminum piping, lodged under...
George drove home from the mall, his bags of minor stolen items sat in his back seat, his mind still grappled with the experience he shared, at least that’s the word he was trying to use in his mind. The pleasurable encounter that he shared with the beautiful mother and daughter. But he knew, it wasn’t exactly a shared experience, he’d molested them. The words stung his brain, a dark bolt of dread. He was a good man, he told himself. He reminisced on the good deeds and generous acts he’d...

After nearly an hour of staring at my lack of a reflection in the mirror, I thought about being visible, and there I was again. It was amazing. I still can't explain how I came about this ability, there was no meteor or radioactive spider, tonight I could just...make myself invisible. I sat there, naked on my bed for the longest time, and the implications began to set it. That meant I could do pretty much whatever I wanted. I mean, how many guys haven't imagined strolling through the girls...
“Dr. Doe, I’m going to go now, will you be able to finish without me?” your hot assistant asks you. “Yes, don’t worry about it Kira. You go, I’m almost done and I’ll be going in a little bit.” You reply to her as you put a light blue liquid into a vial. “Oh if you’re almost done I’ll wait.” She says as she takes off her lab coat to reveal her hot tanned body is only being covered a small black mini skirt and top. “I don’ have anything planned tonight.” “No, no that’s OK.” You answer back not...
Outwardly she was still the Invisible Girl, for which she was thankful, because this allowed her to give her attention almost entirely to the stranger she had suddenly become. Who was this girl who had done all those things, things that played themselves over and over in her mind, things she had never even heard of but knew were bad, things that would shock anyone who knew her? Things she had only done because she’d been forced to, she told herself, but still things she was certain no other...
“I’m home...anybody here?” The voice from downstairs startled her awake. She didn’t remember drifting off, but she must have. And Peter must have as well, because his eyes were wide with dismay when hers snapped open in the twilit room. “Oh god, it’s my Dad,” she whispered. She jumped out of bed and ran to the bedroom door. She opened it, leaned her head out, and called, “Hi Dad! I’ll be right down!” She closed the door and hurried back to where Peter still lay on the bed, still...
“So—how did the dinner run go last night?” asked Suzy. She and Jane were unpacking and hanging a shipment of baby clothes at the back of the store while Mrs. Jorgenson minded the register. It was a rainy day, and there were no customers in the store. “Oh, fine,” replied Jane. “I just brought him some sandwiches and stuff. He works at The Word Works—you know, the bookstore?” “Oh sure.” Suzy concentrated for a moment on a tiny dress that wouldn’t stay on its hanger. Then she asked,...

Susan Storm-Richards floated in the Negative Zone, her communicator was totally busted. "Why did I not listen to Reed, I shouldn't have come here alone." She had responded to a signal from Rosetta Stone, a high ranking political figure in Shadow City, one of the many places in the Negative Zone that the Fantastic Four had visited. To her utter horror, a dinosaur like creature had lifted her off the ground in mid-battle. When she finally reacted with her force powers, she was dropped miles away from the team. Unfortunately, the fall broke her communicator and locater. It would be hard for Reed and the team to find her. To her own dismay, she decided to trudge out into the forest...
I awoke to a pounding headache, and aching eyes. The ground was damp and soft underneath my back as I held my head and tried to make sense of the world. Rolling onto my knees, I dragged myself up and the swimming world started to come into focus. I was in a forest, though I could hear the distant sound of traffic carrying in the still air. It looked about midday, and a sunny and pleasant one. Even as my senses cleared, my mind remained blank. I couldn't remember who I was or how I got here....

Terry Mann was bored. What he thought would be an interesting well paid job in a laboratory not far from home admittedly paid well, but the job was routine testing for faults in various types of house paints and rather mundane though the company he worked for thought it rather important. Though as it turned out her mother just stuck her head in to say good night before heading upstairs to bed. For the next two weeks the two of them played a kind of tag in school. Every so often she would look up—in study hall, or the lunchroom—to find him looking at her. Tag. And then his eyes would quickly look away. Walking out of a class he would spot her, just passing by in the hall, giving him a quick sideways glance. Tag. Once, at a school event, she had chosen an empty seat in...
As they continued along towards her house she suddenly remembered all her news. “Oh Peter, guess what?” she said. “My parents are going away for the whole weekend! You can come over!” She stopped, struck by a new thought. “Hey, why don’t you come over for dinner tomorrow night?” Peter smiled at her. “You can cook, too?” He looked thoughtful for a moment, and said, “God, that sounds great. We could actually just...be together. Yeah!” And he even gave a little jump as he said...
Jane was lying on the beach when she heard her mother calling, “Jane, we’re going into town now. Do you want to try to call Peter again?” She certainly did. She felt as if they’d been apart for weeks. She jumped to her feet. “I’ll be right there!” She grabbed her blanket and towel and took off for the cottage. The path meandered around the dunes but she was in such a hurry that she ran right up the dune in front of her. As she neared the crest there was a sudden excruciating pain...

**I know it took long enough, but I had a few corrections to make. Well I know your probably wonder why this story is taking so long, but I wanted to have some type of character development. But rest assured its about to get heavy.** ‘Okay’, Analia thought, ‘this isn’t so bad. Well I guess that happens when you come to the mall at 10...
It looked like it would be another long lonely year for Analia Thomas again this year. But if you looked on the outside you would think that everything was fine. She graduated with a 3.6 GPA from Southeastern University with a degree in International business, with three leads on possible oversea appointments in multi-million dollar firms. The intensity of the experience had shaken them both. Sometimes as they walked along the dark streets, talking quietly, their eyes would find each other, and although the topic under discussion would continue unchecked there would be a silent question exchanged, along the lines of, Did that really just happen?, followed by the equivalent of Wow. As if they had been caught in a forest fire or a landslide and had barely escaped. Eventually, though, there was too much that she didn’t know, and...
When Jane woke up the next morning her first thought was that Peter must have stuffed a pair of her panties into her mouth after she’d fallen asleep. At the very least she felt as if her tongue was wearing a sock and her head was throbbing dully. She opened her eyes and sat up. This added nausea to her other complaints and she immediately lay down again.
