My father thanked her and I borrowed her notebook. My mom and Beth were getting ready for their shopping spree and I suggested that they might like some company. She laughed "I'm NOT shopping for sexy lingerie" she said.

I pointed out that if they had any say in the matter (and they most definitely did) they intended to be her parents too. "They're already almost as in love with you as I am" I told her "you're home now, or close to it. I was hoping you could join me in my "loft" we could peruse my "etchings" and other things."
She giggled, and it was a nice sound. "I know what I want to "peruse" as soon as possible! What will the girls say though? Won't they be mad if I'm actually living with you?"
I didn't think that would be a problem and told her so. She and Connie were already friends and Beth had taken to her immediately. I knew the others would too. It seemed like a good time, so I told her about Paula and got the reaction I expected.
She was overjoyed but worried about Connie. We talked about the problem until I caught her wincing once too often and made her take a pill so she could sleep. That's why she was up all night. They made me help organize the new things. I was glad I lived simply. There was plenty of room for everything. That drew comments too, but I exasperated them by explaining that if men had five sets of clothes and a suit he was satisfied. I had a feeling that would change soon.
Beth and I were the first ones up again and got breakfast ready. When the rest of the bunch showed up the change in Tina was noticeable. Her hair was clean, styled and lovely. When she stood on her toes, kissed his cheek and said "yes daddy" I thought he'd faint. Instead he smiled and told her that was the nicest thing he'd ever heard. I saw my mother turn her head and blink a tear away.
Tina took my father at his word and every time she referred to him after that, he was "daddy" and my mother was "mom".
Dad informed us he had contacted the lawyer. He was already familiar with the situation and had been hoping we'd get in touch with him. He thought that if the child endangerment charges were dropped against the mother she would give up her parental rights.
The father wasn't an issue because his would be terminated by the court. The lawyer said getting the right judge would be easy and one in particular would cut the other ball off if the guy so much as opened his mouth to protest. Tina and my parents wouldn't have to see either of them. Everything else would be done in the judge's chambers.
We were all ready for the party. Now we had something to celebrate! People started showing up at eleven and dad fired up the grill. I had even invited the girl's parents. Connie's mother made it. So did Paula and Jeff's folks. They spent the day talking with mom and dad and they seemed to get along well together.
Every person there seemed to be having a wonderful time except one.
I saw Vicky sitting by herself and went to her. "Why are you over here" I asked "when the party is over there?" She huffed "I don't know why I came at all. Connie kind of twisted my arm. I pointed at the cabana and told her that she could get ready there or here but she was going swimming.

It has the added benefit of giving farmers a new market and also a new use for landfills. The combination of recovered methane and processed ethanol will be much less expensive than oil but much more expensive than hydrogen, especially since the hydrogen engine basically runs on water. As for the oil stock I wouldn't sweat it. There are TONS of companies we know about and we'll clean up anyway."
Her process used only water, salt, and an inexpensive metal alloy to extract the hydrogen. The only emission was oxygen and a gasoline engine could be converted for less than a hundred dollars to use the system. When the fusion generator was released for other applications the need for any type of fossil fuel would gradually disappear as older lawn equipment and small engines wore out or were replaced. That is if she didn't manage to complete what she called "the discovery that will change the world".
I had a feeling that if anyone could do it, she could. When Tina finally dozed off something occurredto me. I woke my parents and asked them if we had to delay any longer before doing something about Tina's injuries. Since it had been documented and witnessed, and since we had avoided any problems with the courts my parents both agreed that I should do whatever I could to help her. They hated seeing her in pain as much as I did.
