PRINCE MATTHEW DREUS

I surveyed the coastline, marking highpoints on my map where we could erect towers for the mirror relay. It was how my father communicated with Queen Tiadoa and Ambassador Wentz in the Highlands; a series of mirrors aimed at each other over great distances from great heights. There used to be a relay from Ardeni to Alkandra, but it had been destroyed centuries ago. I didn’t imagine we’d ever have to rebuild it, even after Yavara had revealed her identity. Alkandra was a pipe dream, and it galled my father that Prestira Rasloraca had gotten roped into it. Her death was a tragedy, but it wasn’t unexpected.

What was unexpected was the letter we’d received from Zander’s ethereal owl two weeks ago. The Ten had been united, a Froktora had been elected, and a horde of nearly a hundred-thousand had been raised. Furthermore, the famed ranger Thomas Adarian had been mutilated into some kind of dark-elf monster and turned traitor to become the governess of Alkandra. Zander expected us to make contact with her (her for God’s sake!) and set up an embassy. And that was all he wrote. No explanation, no clarification. With no means of replying to him, we had to decide whether or not to heed the letter. Ultimately, the phrase “a horde of nearly one-hundred-thousand” got Father’s attention. We had used Yavara as a tool, thinking her easily disposable. I was to ensure that the sentiment didn’t become mutual.

We rounded the bend, and there, at the mouth of the Alkandran Bay, was the city of beasts. I was impressed. Not by the city itself, for the castle and towers were rather short by my standards, and the single urban strip that made up its downtown would count for any one of a thousand streets in Ardeni. No, it was the speed of construction that had impressed me. I’d voyaged this bend not three months ago, and there had been nothing at the mouth of the bay but ruins. If my understanding of the timeline was correct, the castle had been built within a month, and everything thereafter had been built within a fortnight. It was industry on a mass scale, a full nation mobilized for a singular purpose. And it was a nation now, there was no doubt about it. After a thousand years of back and forth between the Highlands and the Lowlands, the Midlands had finally been claimed, and it was the Midlanders themselves who had claimed it.

The ruby gem on my mirror lit up, indicating that I had a call. I directed the navigator to sail us back to sea. Nautical mirror communication was dependent on how many ships were between the caller and the receiver. Every ship had a mirror on its masthead, and so a relay could be formed from ship to ship. In high-traffic areas like along the Lowland coast, all one had to do was sail out into the open water, and without the coastline obstructing the view, a chain would be formed to the port of Ardeni Dreus. I’d rounded the Alkandran Horn ten days ago, and so communication had been impossible with a mountain range between Ardeni and me. If our flotilla hadn’t been slowed by the unwieldy trade barges, the whole process would’ve taken a quarter of the time, but alas, money took priority over politics. The blue gem on my mirror illuminated, and I palmed the glass.

A spindly man came into focus, a bored expression on his face as he methodically tapped the mirror.

“Brannon, to what do I owe the pleasure?” I asked.

The man practically leapt out of his chair when he heard my voice. He collected himself, and dawned his usually scowl. “Prince Mathew, we have been trying to contact you for ten days.”

“And I rounded the Alkandran Horn exactly ten days ago. Did Father have you tapping that glass day and night?”

“We’ve been working in shifts.” He sneered, then left without a word.

A minute later, King Albert Dreus’s visage came into focus.

“Father,” I said, “I am about to make contact. Why did you call?”

“There’s been a development.” He said, his face grave, “Ambassador Wentz is dead.”

I paused. “Should I… turn the ship around then?”

“It wasn’t one of Zander’s agents who did it. Lord Ternias got sloppy and exposed Wentz, and Leveria disposed of him. There’s no action we can take here; we got caught with our hand in the cookie jar.”

“And Ambassador Straltaira? Is she dead?”

“No.”

“So that proves that she’s Leveria’s agent.”

“That’s not what Lord Ternias thinks. He believes she works in the best interest of Queen Yavara.”

“Straltaira was captured and tortured! How could she not be Leveria’s agent?”

Father stroked his beard. “I’ve never seen Elena Straltaira, nor any of these so-called ‘hybrids,’ but from what I’ve heard, they’re not to be trifled with. If Elena is operating with the autonomy Ternias proclaims, then that only proves it. You will need to be very careful with them, Mathew.”

“I will be.”

“I received a call from the dwarven trade emissary. News of Yavara’s military reached his ears yesterday, and it spooked him. He won’t be trading with us through the Midlands until he has a diplomat in Alkandra.”

“Well, maybe we’ll get lucky and the two armies will just massacre each other.”

“Doubtful. We’re going to have to keep hedging our bets, which means you’ll have to make concessions. Good relations with Alkandra are immediately paramount. If Yavara’s army prevails, the most powerful nation on Tenvalia will be right next door.”

“And in case Yavara’s army falls, we keep our support behind Ternias.”

“Ternias is becoming unreliable.”

“Then who do we hedge our bets with in Bentius?”

Father stroked his beard again. “Do you know what the current line of succession is for the Highland nobility? Tiadoa, Ternias, Straltaira.”

“You can’t possibly mean… they would never… what the hell would she even be? Queen? King? Both?!”

“Ternias tells me she’s the darling of the court. A simple perception spell for public appearances would make her palatable to the masses. If Yavara loses this battle, then the Highlands will take control of the Midlands, and everything we’ve worked for will be for naught. In that scenario, we will throw our support and resources behind Elena, because she would never occupy the Midlands. It would sow discord in the Noble Court, and make them weak when they are strongest.”

I ran my hand through my hair. “Does Yavara even know that Elena is alive?”

“Wentz told me Elena claimed to be in contact with her sovereign, but she was only parroting Leveria’s lie to the court when she said that. Elena was never an ambassador; she was a prisoner. As far as we can tell, Yavara thinks Elena is dead. We should keep it that way for now.”

“Why? Bringing her this information would put us well in her favor.”

“If Yavara wins this battle, then we will need to throw our resources behind whoever makes the Highlands the strongest. With their faith shaken in Leveria, then Ternias would be our best choice. His ambitions would be unrealized, and he would be forced to kowtow to us to pressure Yavara from invading. But in this scenario, the cowards in the Noble Court will begin whispering of vassalage to avoid an invasion. That will make Elena Straltaira a very attractive candidate, and we cannot allow the Highlands to fall into Yavara’s lap. If Yavara wins this battle, we will send our assassins to Bentius.”

FALTIA

“Attention!” Came the clipped command of Colonel Dom Alkandra.

The unruly officer’s quarters abruptly formed into smart lines that ran the length of the hall. I walked between them, my head held high, my boots clicking against the wood planks of the barrack floor. Eva herself had designed my uniform, with a leather crisscrossing top that held my full breasts high and jiggling on my chest, a leather skirt that hugged my ass like it was painted on, and thigh-high boots gave me the air of authority I required. With my body now covered it tattoos all the way to my chin, I looked like something out of a fascist porno mag. It was perfect.

“It has come to my attention that there has been gambling going on within the barracks.” I said sternly, “I don’t care what’s legal in town, when you’re on duty, my word is law! As officers of the watch, it your responsibility to ensure that the troops beneath your command follow my law. Captain?!” I turned on my heel, and stopped before Captain Getrok Kraklari. He stood almost two feet taller and was at least three times as heavy, but his lip quivered, and he didn’t dare meet my eye.

“Ma’am, yes ma’am!” He sputtered through his tusks.

“Do you know anything about the poker games being played during night watch hours?” I asked, and placed my hand against his crotch.

“N-n-no ma’am!” He stammered. Oh, he was stirring beneath my palm.

I grinned up at him. “Are you sure, Captain?”

“Y-y-yes ma’am!”

I reached into his trousers, and pulled out his foot-long meat. He hadn’t showered yet. Four hours of physical training after a night of sleeping in the hot officer’s quarters had marinated his loins, and the miasma made my mouth water. My delicate fingers traced along his veins, brushing back and forth until he was rising unbidden, the shaft throbbing, the head pulsing and leaking. “Are you one-hundred-percent certain, Captain?” I whispered.

His eyes were becoming bloodshot, his lips were trembling. With a sputtering gasp, he finally confessed, “It was Major Roy Alkandra! He ran it!”

I wheeled on the guilty Major. “Is this true, Major?!”

“Ma’am, yes ma’am!” He yelled back, his voice pitched high in fear. Fear was not something I ever wanted to garner as a captain in the rangers, but it was an incredibly effective tool with orcs. Fear and desire were my training tools, and I’d used them to forge a small professional army in ten days. It was grueling, debasing work, and I’d never had more fun in my entire life.

“Major, you are to report for outreach duty immediately.” I said, and the orc saluted smartly, and walked like a condemned man out of the quarters.

“The rest of you are dismissed. Go muster your companies.” I said, holding Captain Getrok firmly in my grasp.

“Not me, ma’am?”

“No, Captain,” I grinned, and dropped to my knees before him, “you’re off duty.”

EVA

The office of the Outreach Director was no longer the shed beside the castle, but an extravagant tent before the stadium. I’d procured some satin drapes and incense to give it the luxuriant appeal I desired, and it was decorated with all the niceties that Alkandran nobility should have, but none were quite so spectacular as Pet, or “Soraya,” as the others called her. She was bound in opulent masochism with a dress of gold chain, her platinum choker high and tight on her throat, her bronze body inscribed with tattoos from heel to chin.

“I love you, you know.” I said as I stroked her fine white hair.

“Yes Domina.” She purred.

“I mean that I love you, Soraya.”

She turned, her character melting away to display her magnificent smile. “And I love you, Eva, but you’ve been saying it for so long that it’s lost its shock value.”

“Apparently not for me.” I mused, “I’m surprised every time the thought comes to mind. I never thought I’d be in love, and with so many, but you most of all.”

She smiled coyly, and laid her head on my lap. “Eva, save the sweet-talk for the pillow. If you really love me, you’ll treat me like I deserve.”

I sniffled, “OK, you filthy cum-whore.”

“Much better.” She grinned, then turned around, and resumed her role as my dog. A moment later, one of Faltia’s officers walked through the tent flap, and gave me a smart salute.

“Major Roy Alkandra reporting for outreach duty, ma’am!” He announced with a shaky voice.

“Already?” I chuckled, checking my timepiece, “It’s a little early in the day for public humiliation, isn’t it? Oh, who am I kidding? It’s never too early. What was your offence, Major?”

“Gambling, ma’am.”

“Ooo, that’s Faltia’s big no-no.” I purred, assessing my newest victim, “When we were rangers, Captain Dafian –that’s Commander Faltia to you— Captain Dafian would turn a blind eye to sex and drugs, but if he caught his soldiers gambling with each other, he’d come down hard. Pet, could you give the major an enema bag?”

“Ma’am?!” Major Roy asked, his voice tight with alarm.

I procured a sheet of paper from my desk. “Fighting will get you put in stockades and paddled, failure to comply will get you drawn and whipped, disobeying a direct order will get you the cross; these are the punishments Faltia and I agreed upon, but your commander left the punishment for gambling up to my discretion. She trusted my imagination with such things. Now,” my lips curved into a wicked smile, “strip to your birthday suit, spread your cheeks, and bend over. We need to clean you out, Major; we wouldn’t want to make a mess of the stage, now would we?”

ALEXA

A crowd had formed before the stage that fronted Eva’s tent. I paused my work to watch the show. Eva had put the poor orc in stirrups, and was seeing just how far she could put her fist up his ass. He hollered and groaned, but it wasn’t all bad for him. Soraya was there to suck his shamefully-aroused cock while the crowd jeered and cheered. I sighed, wishing I could join in the fun, and turned my attention back to the task at hand. The stadium was almost complete. Despite it being the largest structure by footprint in the city, it had been the easiest to build. It was a massive bowl dug out from the stone quarry, tiered back to accommodate half the two-hundred-thousand population at once. It practically created itself, seeing as how the trolls who mined it tiered it toward the center to create steps anyway. All we had to do was even-out the steps, add a box for the esteemed citizenry, and let Tim decorate the outside with statues of battle. The massive stones that were mined from it were then shaped and cut by the Ardeni masons, and sent to the construction crews downtown.

I looked out at the city. The progress we’d made was simply breathtaking. With a workforce of over five-thousand at my disposal, and the trolls who made cranes and hydraulic lifts unnecessary, we’d built all fifty towers along the main street, and were laying the foundations for a hundred more along two side streets. It was inevitable that the urban strip would begin to spread, and so with much persuasion on Kiera’s part, we’d convinced Arbor to let us cut down a few square miles of the surrounding forest. The timber was not wasted. I’d zoned out plots for unorganized expansion between the shore and river, and the orcs had quickly taken to building commercial districts that sprawled out along makeshift roads for miles. All new development had to be downstream of the Knife River to avoid water contamination, and since the waste from the towers was emptied into gutters that ran into the watershed, it made that part of Alkandra rather stinky. We needed some kind of filtration system.

KIERA

“Gods, that smell is absolutely horrendous.” Arbor said plainly as we walked along the river. One side of the Knife River was lush green fields, and the other was stone and timber urban sprawl that stretched for miles to the shoreline. It seemed like every time I blinked a new building was erected. The disparity in architecture between Alexa’s carefully planned city center and the tribespeople’s entropy-driven engineering was astounding. Over time, I imagined that Alexa would sequester sections of the shanty town for her own development to ease the transition, but for now, it looked like someone had shit rocks and wood next to a utopian metropolis.

“That’s what I came to ask you about,” I said, stopping by the brown river. “Is there something you can do about this?”

“I can plant algae that will consume the biodegradables, but it will need to be harvested down river or it will suck all the oxygen from the water.” Arbor said, “The harvested algae can be used to feed the livestock; that way, we will not need to use cropland to feed them.”

“Killing two birds with one stone; I like it.”

Arbor blinked at me. “We are not killing birds, Kiera, we are harvesting… this is an expression, is it not? It means to complete two tasks with one solution.”

“You catch on fast.” I chuckled.

Arbor chuckled with me, then paused, and placed her hand over my belly. “Kiera, you are with child.”

“About time. All the other herms already got knocked up. Is it Furia’s?”

“It is.”

“I figured. So, Eva and I will carry her babies, Alexa will carry mine, and Furia will carry Eva’s. Is it a girl or a hermaphrodite?”

“Neither. It is a boy.”

“A boy?!”

“It seems that when two hermaphrodites sire a male, it is a pure male.” Arbor smiled at my belly, “The first dark-blooded male in history. This one will be trouble, Kiera.”

Speaking of trouble children. I thought, watching Rose come bounding through the rows of crops with a smile on her face.

“Hi Kiera!” She said brightly, and pulled me into a hug. I hugged her back, making very certain that it stayed platonic under Arbor’s scrutinizing gaze. She pulled back with a devious smile on her face, and held out a pipe, “I got something special for you today.”

FURIA

Finding magistrates that I could trust had been a nightmare. Firstly, they had to be literate, and Soraya had scooped up all the literate orcs she could get her hands on. Secondly, they had to be unbiased, and an unbiased tribal orc was a fairytale. Thirdly, they had to be truthful, and while orcs were not liars, truth and fact were not always synonymous to them. So, I decided to settle on my fourth requirement, and that was that they be completely loyal to me. And out of the woodwork, came some very unexpected candidates.

The power-hungry matriarchs looked to infuse themselves with any positions of prominence, and so they gave me their daughters to be magistrates of Alkandra. I tried to impress upon them the commitment of the position; none of the magistrates could be in contact with the matriarchs, nor could they preside over cases involving their own tribes, or tribes of their enemies. Furthermore, all magistrates would have to live in the castle with me to ensure that their loyalties would not be tested, and they were not allowed to have families while under my tutelage. That nugget of information only made the matriarchs more eager to sign the contract. I suspected ulterior motives, and when I informed them that I could not impregnate their daughters, some of their gusto left them. Still, it was important for them to keep their families in positions of high standing, and so I was given thirty-nine she-orc bachelorettes from the ages of eighteen to twenty-three to live in my wing of the castle. What could go wrong?

When I opened the dormitory door the next day to find a massive brawl going on in the study lounge, I knew I had my work cut out for me. I would have to systematically break down their tribal identities, and instill a new identity, one of sisterhood for the cause of law. Though they hated each other, they respected and admired me nearly to the point of worship, which made instructing them an easy task. Inevitably, however, their womanly needs intersected my masculine desires, and my class of future magistrates deteriorated into my harem. And I had tried oh-so-hard to keep everything professional.

I soon found that sex was a very useful tool to indoctrinate the young women. The more I fucked them, the more my incubus seduction took hold of them, and the more receptive they became. My power fetish was thoroughly entrenched when I realized that my dick could literally change their brain chemistry. Perhaps it was unethical, but they didn’t seem to mind. Pride was the first thing that needed to be stripped from them, for orc pride would be their undoing. The punishment for a corrupt magistrate was to be drawn and quartered in the arena, and I felt a responsibility akin to parentship over the she-orcs. So, I had to make them uncomfortable. As Eva taught me, there is no growth without pain, but since I wasn’t a sadist like she, I went about breaking down my students differently.

“Please Magistrate Augustinia!” Esitiok Balktar whined. She was nineteen, slender and nubile, her pale-green flesh tattooed in tribal savagery, but her face remarkably girlish and innocent. That face was contorted in strain and pleasure as my index fingers slowly stirred her puckered green anus, the digit becoming wet with what was drooling down her taint. She was on her back atop my desk, her black magistrate robes opened to reveal her nakedness, her wrists and ankles bound spread-eagle, her head in clamps. Her older sister, Heciok Balktar, squatted over her face, straining with trembling thighs not to engage in the incestual depravity I’d positioned them in. It was a picture of arousal and humiliation that I wished I could paint for posterity. God, what had happened to me?

“Heciok,” I lectured before the rapt eyes of my surrounding thirty-seven students, “what are the three edicts of Alkandran law?”

“Justice is fair, justice is blind, and justice is vengeful!” Heciok sputtered, squirming in the ropes I’d tied that squeezed her large green breasts and bound her hands behind her back.

“Very good, Heciok.” I smiled.

“Thank you, Magistrate Augustinia!” Heciok managed to be elated by my praise despite her uncomfortable state. I turned my attention to her older sister.

“Esitiok,” I said, increasing the radius of my stirring motion, “if no physical evidence is presented, how many credible witnesses are needed to convict a defendant?”

“Oh…” she groaned, her hips rotating with my finger, her pussy salivating hungrily, “…four?”

“I’m sorry, the correct answer was ‘five.’” I sighed, and added a second finger. Her moans became louder, the rivulets of nectar running down her taint became thicker. “Heciok,” I said to the older sister as she whimpered in her squatting position, “on what grounds can a defendant demand a trial by combat?”

“I don’t know, Magistrate Augustinia!” She cried, squirming to stay upright.

I gestured broadly with my free hand. “Why don’t you ask your fellow classmates then? I’m sure they would love to help you.”

Heciok looked around frantically, but she was only met with vindictive smirks.

I added a third finger to poor Esitiok, and she squealed, shaking her head in the clamps, her body gyrating in pleasure.

“Do you know why no one will help you two?” I asked the sisters, “It’s because you have been cruel to your classmates, and have not yet accepted the bonds of this sisterhood. Your outside identities mean nothing. Your name means nothing. You are magistrates in training, and your duties are to your country, not to your tribe.”

“Magistrate Augustinia, please!” Heciok pleaded, the table shaking with her quivering legs.

I just smiled, and added a fourth finger to her younger sister’s anus. Her green rim squeezed me like an anal cuff, the spokes in her flesh stretching along the twitching rim. I gazed at Heciok, “You can always try and guess the answer.”

“Hurry Heciok!” Esitiok pleaded, her voice rich with pleasure as she stared into her older sister’s spread pussy.

“Um…” Heciok knitted her brow, “in order to demand a trial by combat, the defendant must have… a sword?”

“I’m sorry, Heciok, but a defendant can only demand a trial by combat if the verdict of the magistrate and the verdict of the jury differ.” I placed my other hand on Esitiok’s leaking pussy, and gently pinched her engorged clit. The woman screamed, and Heciok screamed with her when her legs suddenly gave out. Her crotch landed on her Esitiok’s mouth, and Esitiok’s chin went static beneath her, trying with all her might not to do what was inevitable.

“Taste her, Esitiok.” I whispered, “Taste your older sister, and give in to the sisterhood. We’re all sisters here, so what does it matter if you came from the same cunt? All the other siblings have succumbed to each other already, so why do you resist? Lick the forbidden nectar; it is the sweetest, after all.”

With the sensual twist of my fingers on her clit, and the gentle violation of my fingers in her tight anus, I compelled Esitiok’s body to relax. Heciok pleaded silently with me, her lower lip trembling, but there would be no mercy for her. Esitiok’s clit began throbbing in my fingers, her juices began spurting from her vacant slit. Her thighs trembled with the imminence of release, but I would not give it to her. I tortured her with pleasure until I saw her chin finally go slack, and her tongue slide out to venture into her sister’s slit.

“Esitiok!” Heciok cried, horrified at what she was feeling. I controlled the motion of Esitiok’s tongue with my fingers, mastering her like a puppet, and in turn, gaining mastery over her older sister. I watched the change come over them both. Esitiok’s trepidation slowly faded, and she moaned into her sister’s depths as she undulated to the motions of my fingers, pleading torpidly for release. Heciok’s whimpers subsided, and little gasps came from her mouth. She clenched her jaw, trying to deny the sounds that were bubbling in her throat, but I saw the twitches between her spread legs, and the clenches of her abdomen. I saw the way her pussy drooled its juices down her sister’s chin. Her neck striated to hold back the cry, but she could not, and she sounded it out, ashamed, pure, and joyous, and the class cheered to hear it. No longer able to deny her ecstasy, she gyrated atop her sister’s face, her hips rolling, the delectable fat of her waist creasing.

“Oh god, lick me Esitiok!” She cried in surrender.

“Sisters,” I said, “Esitiok and Heciok have finally joined the sisterhood. Welcome them!” And I withdrew my fingers just as the girls descended upon the pair, grasping their breasts, putting their mouths on their parts, exchanging smiling kisses and gaping moans. Robes were discarded and tattooed green flesh was exposed, and my desk became a pile of women.

A pair of hands undid my robe, and another parted my legs. Kilok was on her knees behind me, planting her face between my supple cheeks, her lips wrapping around my anus, her tongue pushing through. Then Perciak was beneath me, kneeling beside her friend, lifting me between their faces so that she could plunge her tongue into my slit. Gertiak was kneeling before me, my brightest student, my shining star, and she devoured my tattooed cock to the base, gagging and gurgling, but still diligently ravaging her throat. Resecelliok took one of my nipples in her mouth, and Yuniara took the other, and they nursed upon me in that ferocious way orcs do, their tusks grazing, their lips pulling with a ravenous sensuality. I tilted my head back, my body turned to jelly by the wet probing invasion of tongues in my hot soft places, and I lounged splendidly atop my throne of women.

“Governess, what can I help you with?” I asked Adrianna, peeking from the corner of my eye.

“Governess?” She asked with an incredulous smile.

“I can’t teach my students respect if I don’t show it.”

Adrianna glanced at my predicament. “I wish I didn’t have to come all the way up here to see you in the morning.”

“I told you I have to be here for them overnight. It’s necessary… oh, Perciak, keep doing that!... it’s necessary for properly indoctrinating them. They graduate tomorrow morning, and I’ll be back in your bed tomorrow night.”

Adrianna smiled ruefully, “I didn’t want to sound needy.”

I grinned her, “I like that you do though. Care to join?”

“I’d love to, but I have to be at the docks shortly. The Lowlands ambassador is coming here today, and he needs to meet all of us.”

“I’ll see if I can’t squirrel away some time this afternoon. Should I wear my ass-kissing lipstick?”

“No, Furia.” She grinned, “I think he’ll be the one wearing the brown gloss.”

ADRIANNA

Most of the hybrids now had tattoos everywhere on their body. Soraya and Faltia even had them on their fingers. Alexa had kept her breasts and belly bare, which I thought was a striking contrast. Kiera and Brianna’s many tattoos were individual and separated with flesh, while Eva’s elaborate scene of debauchery flowed uninterrupted over her entire body, ending at the collar. Furia broke with tradition by getting tattoos only in places none of the others had them. She had surprised us all when her first tattoo was on her face. It was a beautiful tribal design that flowed around her left brow, circled her left eye, ran down her cheek, and traced her jaw until it tapered at the chin. She explained that the ancient Alkandran magistrates tattooed the design to mark their devotion to the law. It made her girlish face look fierce and distinguished, and I had it between my legs as soon as I could. For a week, Furia was content with having no other tattoos, leaving her body completely bare. That was, until Certiok and her got drunk one afternoon, and Furia stumbled back with the Terdini fertility symbol tattooed over her magnificent cock. Us hybrids healed fast, so the flesh was already renewed by the time I tested the taste of her newly-decorated organ.

As for me, I still hadn’t gotten my first tattoo. I guess I was just more ***********ive with what I put on my body than the rest. I was definitely more ***********ive than Brianna.

“See?” She laughed, her robe hiked up to her hips, her hands spreading her cheeks.

“Wow.” I said flatly. It was both my reaction, and what Brianna now had tattooed over her asshole, the ‘o’ circumnavigating her rim.

She opened and closed her anus, and I stay my reaction to play with it, and instead grabbed her robe, and shoved it back down. “The ambassador is about to arrive, Brianna. Act normal for at least the first five minutes.”

I watched the Lowland ships approaching the dock. I never trusted King Dreus when I was a Highlander, and I sure as shit didn’t trust him as an Alkandran. When Soraya had seen the trade deal Yavara had signed, she’d spit out her morning coffee. It was, quite simply, robbery. Well, we’d be renegotiating that, as wells as some other things. We’d make sure Prince Mathew Dreus felt the full brunt of Alkandran hospitality. The trade ship docked at the silver mines, and the ramp came down, but no trolls were there to greet them with great mounds of silver. The ambassador’s ship docked by the castle, and the ramp was cast down. A single man walked down it. He was tall, tan and brown-haired, his complexion shining with boyish youth, his features regal and proud. The second-born son of King Albert Dreus.

“My lord,” I said, bowing, “I am Governess Adrianna Alkandra. This is Populations Director Brianna Dedaclia. We are honored to have you as a guest.”

Prince Mathew executed a practiced bow in return, and answered, “Governess Adrianna, Director Dedaclia; the honor is mine.” He stood up straight, and smiled with a mouth full of perfect teeth, “My god, you two are a vision. I thought I’d landed on an island of sirens when I first stepped off the ship.”

“Thanks bro.” Brianna giggled in the sluttiest way imaginable.

Prince Mathew blinked. “Did you just call me, ‘bro?’”

I took his arm and scowled at the smirking Brianna. “We like to keep things a little informal in Alkandra.”

I guided Prince Mathew through the main boulevard, showing off the architecture and artistry of the urban strip.

“My father always said he’d love to demolish Ardeni and start over,” Prince Mathew said as we stopped at the bridge over the Knife River. “Every king before him had to add their own flair to the city, and since we’ve had hundreds of kings, the city is a disaster. I wish I could add my flair to the beautiful disaster, but alas, I was born second.”

“Alexa will be Alkandra’s chief architect for centuries.” I said, “The city will grow by her vision alone.”

“And I’m sure it will be magnificent.” Prince Mathew said, critically eyeing a large building that would become Alkandra’s university once we established an education system. “So,” he said, “you two used to be men.”

“But I’m still just a boy at heart.” Brianna snickered, resting on the railing beside him in such a way that her breasts floated from her robe.

Prince Mathew ignored her, instead looking at me. “When we got the message from Zander that Thomas Adarian had become governess of Alkandra, we were… curious as to what that meant.”

“Not what you expected?” I asked, giving him a nice side angle of my cleavage.

“A pleasant surprise, to be sure.” Prince Mathew smiled, not even glancing down.

“Why are you here, Prince Mathew?”

“To establish an embassy in Alkandra, and begin constructing a mirror relay so that our sovereigns can speak face to face.” He pointed to a tall hill that overlooked the bay, “The first mirror should go there. I surveyed other high points along the coast that we can use. Our crews will build halfway there, and yours will build the other half.”

“Actually, your crews will build the entire thing.” I said, “We won’t be devoting any resources to Ardeni projects.”

“It’s a joint project.”

“And how does it benefit us?” I asked, leaning on the railing, “Will your king try to lure our queen into another predatory trade deal? Or will he perhaps request to use her sovereign highways without penalty to trade with the Bearded Peaks?”

“Statecraft is a fine game, and you’re being very blunt.”

“We only speak bluntly, Prince Mathew.” I smiled sweetly, “We might look pretty, but we’re beasts, and beasts aren’t prone to subtlety.”

Prince Mathew sighed, “Is the tour over already, governess? Time to get to brass-tax and all that?”

“We can continue the tour if your like.” I indicated my head toward the sprawling city that hugged the river for miles, “That is the real Alkandra.”

Prince Mathew regarded it with a sneer. “No, Ardeni has enough slums of its own. I don’t need to see yours.”

“What about the stadium?” Brianna asked.

“The stadium?” Prince Mathew’s interest was obviously piqued, “You have an arena?”

“The largest in the world.”

“Bigger than The Pit in Drastin?”

“Almost twice as big.”

“I am… intrigued.”

We made our way through the shanty town, and contrary to Prince Mathew’s dismissal, it was nothing like the destitute slums of Ardeni. There were narcotic shops between bakeries and butchers, sex clubs between clothing stores and blacksmiths, and bars between textiles and pottery shops. Tattoo parlors were next to daycares, bare-knuckle boxing rings were next to medical kiosks, warg fighting rings were next to puppy mills, theatres were next to strip clubs, and schools were next to combat training studios. Prostitutes advertised their bodies within birdcages that hung from poles, freakshow actors performed stunts in the streets, tribal dancers showed off their moves and percussion musicians blasted their tomes from every corner. There weren’t just orcs either. Goblins, centaurs, ogres, beastkin, succubi, incubi, kitsunes, and fauns all walked the streets, most of them as wild as the forest they’d come from. Brawls flooded out of taverns, people fucked in the middle of the road, drunks and druggies expelled their fluids everywhere. It would’ve seemed like hell to Thomas Adarian. Now, it seemed like home.

Prince Mathew gawked wide-eyed at everything surrounding him. More than once I saw him flinch and reach for his sword, whatever good that would’ve done him.

“Shouldn’t we have an honor guard?” He said, his voice pitched high in alarm.

“We’re not good enough for you?” Brianna giggled.

“With all due respect, Population Director, I don’t think you’ll be much help if a berserk centaur charges me!”

“Why would that happen? Do you owe any centaurs money?” Brianna tittered.

“No one will harm you with us around.” I assured the prince, “The citizens here revere us.”

“Don’t you fear assassins?”

“Only a suicidal assassin would try to kill us here.” I said, and then shot out my arm before Prince Mathew walked right into the middle of fight. Two massive ogres roared as they dealt each other crushing blows, the street shaking with their footfalls. The ten-foot behemoths struck each other with haymakers that would’ve planted me into the bedrock, then they wrestled through a kiosk, destroying pots and pans, vases and bowls. The poor shop owner screamed in dismay as the ogres stepped back, and drew their mighty clubs.

“Isn’t someone going to do something?!” Prince Mathew shrieked, “The constables are just standing there!”

Five of Faltia’s watchmen stood on the sidelines with the rest of the crowd, a few of them placing bets. The ogres charged each other once more, swinging their clubs overhead. The weapons smashed together, a sound like an explosion blasting from the collision, and they whirled on each other, their great clubs humming through the air in a blur. One ducked the other’s swing, then sprang off the ground in a mighty leap, screamed with his club raised high, and brought it down on the other’s head, splattering it like a watermelon. The crowd roared, and the dead ogre took two reflexive steps before wobbling, and crashing to the ground.

Brianna applauded fervently, absolutely delighted by the display, and I conceded a few claps of my own before I pointed to the watchmen, and yelled, “Arrest this ogre.”

The ogre wheeled on me. “What did I do?”

“What did you do?!” Prince Mathew squeaked.

I pointed to the destroyed kiosk. “That’s criminal destruction of property. You’ll see a magistrate in three days about paying restitution, but until then, you’ll be in the mines.”

The watchmen hauled out a massive set of irons, and clamped them around the ogre’s outstretched wrists. His shoulders slumped as he was guided toward the silver mines, the sound of applause and cheers carrying him away. I pulled one of the remaining watchmen aside, and demanded his badge number. Gambling while on watch was forbidden.

“If you don’t want me telling Commander Faltia about this, you better get rid of this body.” I hissed, pointing at the headless hulk in the street.

“By myself?!”

I shrugged. “Get a hacksaw.”

From there, we took the shaken Ardeni prince toward the quarry. Here, the street widened to accommodate the increase in traffic. The stadium was becoming the centerpiece of the city, and so the buildings grew taller, and the debauchery became greater. While revelers frolicked, fought and fucked in the streets, twenty-foot-tall trolls lumbered down the construction causeway with great rectangular stones on their backs, heading toward the urban strip. The crowd became tighter, and soon, I was packed in with the foot-traffic of Alkandra, and had to hold the hapless prince’s hand lest he get washed away. We finally broke through the crowd, and there before us, was the Alkandran Arena. It was an enormous bowl dug into the quarry, rimmed at street-level with great statues of battle that Tim and his apprentice stone masons had made. It didn’t come off the ground like traditional coliseums, but the way it opened up was spectacular.

“Pretty amazing, huh?” I asked him. I turned with a smug smile to see his reaction, but he wasn’t looking at the wonder before him. No, he was staring slack-jawed at Eva’s stage.

Eva had on a circus conductor’s hat, and with her lion-tamer’s whip, she herded six naked orcs around a walking carousel, their collars linked to chains that were all looped at the top of the carousel, where a lever connected to a bullseye released the entire contraption. Eva’s assistant, the lovely Soraya, had on clown makeup and a frilly skirt over her gold-chain dress, and was rapidly crawling away from the lead orc like a terrified bunny at a dog race, setting the pace for the debauched carnival ride.

“They…” Prince Mathew blinked himself back to reality, “they are… hybrids, are they not? Women of great standing in your society?”

“Yeah. That’s First Scribe Soraya Poneria in the clown outfit, and Outreach Director Eva Alecia is the conductor.” I said.

“And you let them act like this?! In front of everyone?!”

Brianna guffawed. “Shit bro, I’d be joining them if I didn’t have to chaperone your tight ass.”

“Brianna, be nice!”

Prince Mathew turned to me. “And you, Governess?”

“I’ve been the clown a few times.” I confessed with a smile.

He stared at me like he didn’t recognize me at all, then looked back at the carousel. “And… and what happens when the orcs catch her?”

“Use your imagination.” Brianna giggled.

“What’s more interesting,” I said with a sly smile, taking the prince by the arm, “is what happens if someone manages to hit that target up there.”

“I think I’ll pass.”

“Brianna?”

“I was always a terrible shot. Plus, I didn’t bring my kneepads.”

“Governess!” Certiok called from the vendor’s booth, “Care to try your luck, birthmother?”

“Birthmother?” Prince Mathew inquired.

“It’s a long story.” I said, and left him to be babysat by Brianna while I strolled over to Certiok. I greeted her with our typical animalistic kiss, grabbing and squeezing her ass until my fingers disappeared in the fat. I didn’t doubt that Prince Mathew’s eyes were bugging out of his head, but I also didn’t really care too much.

“You’re manning the booth today?” I asked her when we parted.

“Eva put me up to it.” Certiok rolled her eyes to the carny hat atop her braided head, “We had a bet, I lost. Who’s the human staring at us?”

“Prince Mathew Dreus.”

“Oooo, royalty.” She cooed, looking over my shoulder at him, “He’s a cutie pie.”

“And a virgin.” I grinned, tossing her a gold piece.

“Adrianna,” she said in a low voice, “what are you going to do to that poor, innocent boy?”

“So many terrible, terrible things,” I chuckled, taking the bow and arrow from her. “Wish me luck!”

“No!” She giggled, “I rather see you with clown-face on.”

“You’ll be disappointed.” I said over my shoulder, then stepped to the challenger’s podium, and nocked my arrow. Eva whipped an orc hard across the back, the sadistic delight shining bright her eyes. Then those eyes fell on me, and they widened.

“Not you, you fucking—”

And I shot the arrow over the heads of the spectators, across the stage, and right into the bullseye at the top of the carousel. The chains around the orcs’ necks released. There was a beautiful moment when Eva stared in slack-jawed horror, and the orcs grinned back at her with vengeance in their eyes. Then she turned on her heel, and sprinted for the tent. But Soraya was faster, and she pounced on her Domina.

“No! No! No!” Soraya scolded Eva, “This was the game, Domina, and you have to follow the rules!”

“Adrianna, you whooOOOOORE!” Eva’s shout turned to a scream as she was picked up by her hair, then her scream was silenced when a fat orc cock was shoved down her throat. Another orc took his position beneath her, and a third took his position behind her, and she was simultaneously penetrated in both holes, the meat stretching her elastic entrances to their limits. The other three orcs surrounded her, one wrapping a collar around her neck, another whipping her across the back, a third taking off the nipple clamps Eva had bestowed upon him and returning them to their rightful owner. Soraya was left pitifully unattended, and had to tap one of the orcs on the shoulder to get his attention, then presented her body with open arms and a hopeful smile. She was grabbed, and given what she was owed.

The crowd cheered, and I bowed, and hopped from the challenger’s podium. I received pats on the back, smacks on the ass, and I made out with a few strangers before I got back to Brianna and Prince Mathew.

“Show off.” Brianna sneered, unabashedly eye-fucking me.

“How could you?!” Prince Mathew exclaimed, “She was your friend, and you—”

“Gave her exactly what she wanted?” I laughed, “Eva’s a dom, so the only way she can get off being a sub, is if she’s forced into the situation. Why do you think she designed the game that way?”

“She doesn’t seem to be enjoying herself.”

“Look closer, Your Highness.” I chuckled. One of the orcs shifted his hips, giving everyone a clear view of Eva, her back forced upright, her legs forced wide apart, one cock driving into her ass, one cock driving into her pussy, and a third cock -her cock- was curving back and leaking with pleasure. Cum dripped like lava from the tip, spurting thick ropes every time the orc behind her jammed his cock against her prostate. I though Prince Mathew’s jaw might fall off.

“Oh,” Brianna pinched his cheek, “is it bigger than yours?”

“Don’t touch me!” He tried to slap her hand away, but it was already gone.

“Brianna, didn’t I tell you to be nice?” I scolded.

“I’ve been trying to be nice, but every time a drop a hint, he just trips right over it!” She threw up her hands, “Good God, Your Highness, do you need me to suck your cock for you to pick up what I’m putting down here?”

Prince Mathew blushed to the roots of his hair, and Brianna’s face fell in shameful realization.

“Aw, shit.” She muttered, “What are you? Sixteen? Seventeen?”

“Eighteen.” He mumbled.

“Your dad sent an eighteen-year-old virgin to be the ambassador to Alkandra?” She asked incredulously, “What was he thinking?”

“He sent me here because I’m a homosexual.”

“Oh.” Brianna straightened up, and tidied her robes, “Well, now I feel a lot less insulted. Whew, I was worried for a second.”

“You narcissistic bitch!” I laughed.

“Guiltyyyyy.” She sang and threw her arm around Prince Mathew’s shoulder, “Hey bro. One time, back when I was a dude, I got really drunk with another dude, and we were out on patrol by ourselves with nothing to do, and you know… what I’m saying is, there’s nothing to be ashamed of. In case you haven’t noticed by now, being gay isn’t exactly exotic over here in Alkandra.”

Prince Mathew snarled, shook off Brianna’s arms, and sprinted straight for the stadium.

“Damn, what’s up his ass?” Brianna mused.

“Low hanging fruit, Brianna.”

“Are you gonna pick it? Or are you just gonna let it rot?”

“Fine. It’s what isn’t up his ass that’s the problem.”

“That’a girl.” Brianna grinned, then cocked her head as she watched the prince scramble around the corner. “Alexa’s in there. I wonder what she’ll make of our wayward royalty?”

“You think she’ll have more luck with him than we did?”

“She has the prerequisite equipment, but… she’s Alexa. We need someone with a firmer hand.”

“Our enforcer is out of commission for the moment.” I said, gesturing to the triple-stuffed Eva Alecia.

“She has too firm a hand anyway. I was thinking someone whose persuasive skills were more refined.”

I chuckled, “I’ll send Furia a messenger bird.”

ALEXA

I wiped my brow, and sighed. The late summer sun was brutal near the bay, and the humidity wasn’t much better. At least I’d forgone modesty a while ago. I took off my shirt, then my pants, then just decided work boots were the only clothes I needed for the day. I often made that decision, and it was distracting for my project leaders. I had to relieve them with my body just to get their focus back on the task at hand. There you go again, blaming other people for being a slut. I thought with a smile to myself. I guessed I still needed excuses for getting gangbanged by my subordinates. It was just a tiny piece of the old Alexa I kept for myself, maybe for nostalgia. Maybe I just liked playing a part while ten orcs ravaged my holes. Unfortunately, there were no orcs in the stadium.

“Tim!” I called to my partner, “Tell the big fellas to take a break! It’s too hot to work!”

Tim waved a massive hairy hand from the bottom of quarry, put down his saw, and left for break. We’d made great strides since dawn, and only the last few flights of risers needed to be levelled out before the stadium was done. I inspected the thirty-foot statue of an orc stabbing a centaur behind me, and then my eyes fell on a lone human sprinting through the entrance and plastering himself to the statue’s base right beside me. He looked over his shoulder, breathing heavily, then he sighed, and slid down the wall into a sitting position.

“Hey.” I said to him.

He was so startled that his circlet leapt right off his head.

“You’re the ambassador, right?” I asked, sitting down beside him, “You spent your whole life in the architectural wonder that is Ardeni Dreus, so you tell me; what am I missing with these towers?”

“W-w-what?” He stammered frightfully.

“I wanted the base structure to be brutalist, but the statues give it kind of a neoclassical look. I really like how it’s turned out -a clash of modern and antiquity-, but there’s something missing, and I don’t get what.”

He blinked stupidly for a second, then adjusted the circlet on his head. “Um… your windows are the wrong size for brutalist architecture.”

“How do you mean?”

“They’re too well-proportioned within the frame of the tower. What you have is a strange amalgamation of gothic and brutalism for your base structure. Too plain to be gothic, but too proportioned to be purely brutalist.”

“Huh,” I mused, “shit, you’re right. I’ll have to change the windows.”

“You can also just fill in some if you’re really going for that post-fascist-dystopian look.” He gestured to the classical statures around us, “Echoes of empires lost clashing with the modern sentiment dying mysticism.”

“No, I wanted to convey more of a new-world kingdom feel. More optimistic.”

“Then bigger windows are your solution.”

“Well, thanks a ton mister…”

“Prince Mathew Dreus.” He said, taking my hand.

“Prince? Was I supposed to curtsy?”

“With what?” He laughed, and then quickly averted his wandering eyes from my crotch. That little action put all the pieces into place.

“Did Brianna and Adrianna chase you off?”

“Mostly Brianna.”

“She can be really forward, can’t she?” I chuckled, “Everything’s a joke to her. She doesn’t want you to take her seriously until she’s got your cock in her mouth, then all of the sudden you realize she wasn’t joking at all.”

“Yeah.” He snorted.

“Well, besides all the debauchery, how do you like the city?”

“It’s well planned. You can see how things are accounted for with care, the spatial separations are good, the city flows well. The sooner you get your hands on the shanties, the better.”

“Alkandra can’t be a soulless engineering project. I have built the foundation of it, but the real city must grow on its own.”

“That’s an interesting philosophy.”

“It’s Alkandra’s philosophy. This place doesn’t judge you for who you are or what you want, only for your ability to get it.”

He snorted. “They say the same thing about Ardeni, but that’s simply not true. Oh, if you’re a commoner, you can be free as a daisy, but there can be no flowers in the High Court.”

“Maybe it’s good your dad sent you here then.” I said, my pinky interlocking his. He looked into my eyes, and I smiled gently into his, “Did you notice that no one followed you, Prince Mathew? Can I call you Matt? The reason no one followed you, is because they knew you didn’t want to be followed. And now here you are, alone in the place with me, and no one’s watching us.”

“I… uh…”

“I know what you want, Matt.” I said, my fingers sliding up his arm, “It’s what I want too. All the other girls like me -Kiera, Eva, Furia- they treat me like meat, but with you, I feel like I could maybe be treated differently.”

“Like how?”

My fingers slid behind his head, “Like how a man should be treated by another man.” I gently angled his head so that his eyes rested on my lap.

He swallowed and blinked, his lower lip trembling. “I don’t even know your name.”

“Alexa. But you can call me ‘Alex’ if you want.” I giggled, running my hands through his wonderful curls, “I kind of like it, actually.”

“Alex, I… I…”

“Sweetie, it’s nothing to be scared of. Mine’s nice and small, and when it gets hard,” I whispered as it began to rise on demand, “it only gets a little thicker. You can’t even see my pussy right now, can you? And my tits are small enough that if I stretch like this,” I arched my back against the wall, “well, then I just look like a pretty boy. Just like you, Matt; my pretty little prince.”

“I can’t do this.” He breathed, staring rapturously at my cock as it engorged fully.

I ran my thumb along his smooth jawline, not a whisker to be seen on it. His lips were full and luscious, never before kissed. Why was it that when I saw purity, I wanted more than anything to defile it? Why couldn’t I leave something untainted? If I were Eva or Furia, I probably would’ve forced the issue until he loved it, but that wasn’t me. Even when I was with women, I was never the dominant partner. I could not be domineering like Furia or Eva, or even confidently masculine like Kiera could be. I was too tender a soul, and yet, I desired beyond de***********ion to be this man’s dominant, just for once to know what it was like. I could smell his weakness and trepidation, and it confused me almost as much as it aroused me. I did not know how to proceed, and so I would be very careful, and lead with a very light touch

I pressed my body against his side, and brought my mouth to his ear. I licked around the shell, and felt him shudder. I slowly slid my hand up his thigh until I felt his bulge. Oh, he was blessed. My fingers ran the length of him, then pushed beneath his waistband. He gasped.

“It’s OK,” I whispered in his ear as I gently grasped his cock, “I’ll take care of you, Matt. Just do what I say, and everything will be fine.”

With my grasping hand, I pulled his cock from his pants, and with the other, I angled his face toward mine, and kiss him. He was trepid and awkward, staring at me as my tongue entered his mouth, but I was soothing and sensual, guiding him with infinite patience. His inexperience made him submissive to me, and I nurtured that submissive side, gently subduing him with lips and tongue, carefully molding his virgin sexuality to my liking. When he tried to cup my cheek, I intercepted his hand with mine, and guided it to my crotch. I had to suppress a sharp inhalation was his fingers brushed my tip, for I did not want him to know how reactive my body was.

“That’s it,” I whispered on his lips, parting the kiss, “you can touch me there. Don’t be shy.”

I leaned back against the wall, and stroked him as he wrapped his unsure fingers around me.

“You know what to do.” I smiled, and he smiled nervously back, and began to stroke me. This time, I could not hide the sudden hiss that came through my lips, and my reaction emboldened him. His hand moved with more gusto, squeezing me at the base, then drawing up along the shaft, applying pressure so that the pleasure bulged before his grip, and bubbled out of my tip. My control over him was precarious, and I knew the dynamic could shift at any moment unless I regained my edge.

“Taste it.” I commanded softly, keeping my voice steady.

He looked up at me uncertainly, and I let go of his cock, and ran both my hands through his lush locks. “I know you’ve fantasized about it,” I said, gently guiding his head down, “you’ve gone over this moment so many times in your mind, that you already know what to do. Just let go, and follow your instincts.”

He looked inquisitively at the cock in his hand, then opened his lips, and kissed the tip. His tongue came out, and curiously licked me, running back and forth along my aperture until the head was pulsing and purple. I bit my lip and moaned, arching my back from the wall, struggling to keep my motions sensual and commanding. I applied steady pressure to the back of his head, not exerting him, but guiding him to the next step.

“Mmm,” I hummed a luxuriant moan, “now suck it, Matt. Just open those lips around it, and take it as deep as you can.”

He looked up at me from his coiled bangs, and slowly opened his mouth around the head. His teeth grazed me, but he retracted them quickly, and sealed his lips around my crease. My brows knitted together with pleasure, and my breaths became slow and heavy. I pushed down a little harder on the back of his head, and he slowly took me in.

“Yes!” I hissed, balling my hands in his hair, not pulling it, but keeping a firm grip, “that’s it! Just like that!”

My cock was short enough that most of it was in his mouth before my tip reached his throat. I didn’t pressure him to go deeper, but relaxed my grip in his hair, and pet him lovingly, running my fingers through his mane and down his neck. I looked dotingly upon him as he gave me a proud open-mouthed smile, and drew up, his sucking lips emitting little slurps until he was at my crease, and he rotated before going back down. I let out a long breath, and relaxed, feeling secure in my ability to control myself. I continued to nurture his demure sexuality, plying him with praise, grooming his hair with my fingers, smiling warmly upon him, making him feel safe. Making him desire my safety.

“You’re doing such a good job.” I whispered, “You make me feel so good, Matt. I can make you feel good, you know. I’ve had a lot of practice. I’ll teach you everything you want to know. You can come visit me, and we’ll do it in a private place where no one will see us. Would you like that?”

He nodded .

I grinned. “I’ll keep you safe. All the others, Furia, Eva and Kiera, they’ll want to do bad things to you. They won’t treat your right like I will. You’ll only be with me, OK?”

He nodded again, and I grinned endearingly. They would not corrupt him. He would belong only to me.

“That’s awful selfish of you, Alexa.” Furia’s voice came from above, and the hair on the back of my neck stood up. Mathew scrambled back.

“As you were, Your Highness.” Furia said airily, lounging nakedly atop the statue’s podium like a basking jungle cat, her bronze body a celebration of feminine curves, save for the one part of her that made her special. Prince Mathew stopped and stared when he saw it, and my jealousy flared.

“Go away, Furia!” I snapped, “He doesn’t want you!”

Furia raised her brow and smiled broadly, then flipped off the podium and landed before me, imposing despite her small frame. I scrambled to get up, but her hand was in my hair before I could, and she pushed me back on my ass. She pressed her flaccid cock against and my face, and smeared it over my nose and mouth, making me smell the used pussy that still coated it. I looked up at her to see her staring down with imperious eyes, biting her lip as she gazed down upon me. There wasn’t cruelty in her regard, but there was an overbearing aura that I could not fight no matter how I tried. I whimpered in submission, my shoulders slouching in defeat, and I opened my mouth for her wonderful cock.

“That’s right,” Furia smiled as she tenderly slid her nine inches down my gullet, “that’s what this mouth is for. Not for talking, no, no, no. Certainly not for filling a young man’s head with silly ideas. You don’t take care of anyone, Alexa. I take care of you, and you call me ‘Mommy’ when I do it. When I pull out, I want you tell Prince Mathew exactly what you are.”

Furia pulled her cock out, and the words flowed from me in a sob, “I’m a baby sissy slut!” I cried to Prince Mathew. It was who I was; there was no use fighting it. I saw his perception of me change, and in the place of shame, I felt an arousal so great that I nearly came. I pleaded with Furia, “Please let me suck your cock, M

Queen Yavara Chapter 17

Chapter Seventeen ELENA The sound of morning birds chirping roused me. Destiny curled up closer to me in her sleep, murmuring softly. I relaxed in my position, savoring the feeling of her lying partially atop of me, her thigh pressed against my morning wood. A familiar hand caressed my cheek. I looked up to see two burning orange irises staring down at me. “Hi Elena.” Yavara giggled, “I see you made a new friend.” “Yavara!” I exclaimed. “Shh,” Yavara whispered, putting a finger to my...

Queen Yavara Chapter 8

YAVARA I had seen Elena naked hundreds of times. During our early teens I’d been horribly envious of her woman’s form, and I often admired it. I remember how she used to blush when she caught me staring, but she never attempted to hide herself. I knew why then, but I never said anything. Homosexuality was disgraced in Highland society, and I feared for her sake. Truth be told, I feared a little for my sake, for even at the age of thirteen, I’d felt an odd tingling when I gazed upon the...

Queen Yavara Chapter 9

LEVERIA My father stared in disbelief at the enchanted mirror. King Dreus’ face stared back. “…I hope that we can come to a diplomatic solution here, Clartias.” Alfred Dreus said, “I have five-hundred-thousand beasts that reside in my city, and I cannot condone any aggression taken by you or your people.” “I can’t believe this.” Father sighed, collapsing into the chair, “My own daughter.” He’d remained silent as King Dreus recounted everything that had happened, from the failed rescue...

Queen Yavara Chapter 25

LEVERIA “…three, two, one!” Elena grunted, and with a heave, we tossed Sir Fraldias’s corpse down the spiraling staircase. It clanked and boomed as it disappeared into the stone blackness, then ended with a distant splash. “How are you going to explain it?” Elena asked, catching her breath. “I’m the queen of the Highlands; I don’t need to explain anything.” I smiled, wiping the blood off on my already-ruined night gown, “No one will question me about a missing knight, but a dead one at my...

Queen Yavara Chapter 34

ADRIANNA I immediately locked down my thoughts, shutting Yavara out from even the most banal of my musings. She pouted her lips. “I was only trying to see what you were dreaming about.” Though I was groggy with alcohol, I could smell the wine fresh on her breath. She’d already been drinking, and it wasn’t even eight in the morning. “How did you get in here?!” I snapped, my breath tight in my chest. “Last I checked, this is my castle.” Yavara tittered. “And if you must know, I used the...

Queen Yavara Chapter 47

Interlude Yavara sat upon a black throne. She closed her eyes and savored the discordant symphony of wails and moans, the drone punctuated by the clanking of chains and the cracking of whips. Exhaling contentedly, she opened her eyes. Below her laid a spectacle of depravity, churning masses of flesh oscillating to some unheard cadence, their glistening forms bathed in the crimson torchlight. The prisoners’ eyes were wide with horror, as what was being done to them was horrible, but comingled...

Queen Yavara Chapter 18

CRYSTAL The arrival of the Dark Queen had disrupted the equilibrium of the Gorge. Brock, already insecure about his position, was made even more so, and Master’s concerns about the intentions of her beloved had deepened. I could see the rift that was forming between Brock and Master, and indeed, the rift in Yavara’s own court. As of now, the greatest threat the two posed was to each other, for the division they sowed would pull at the Dark Queen, and paralyze her. The morally-flexible Zander...

Queen Yavara Chapter 52

ADRIANNA Riding a warg wasn’t anything like riding a horse. With a horse, I felt the power of the beast as it beat its hooves against the ground, springing me forward with each stride. With a warg, I didn’t even notice the ground it ran upon, for the warg didn’t beat the ground, but ripped through it, its massive paws tearing into the earth to create footholds for it to launch forward with each ferocious drive. The muscles on Sasha’s back rippled along me as I clung to her mane, and peered...

Queen Yavara Chapter 57

Chapter Fifty-seven LEVERIA I took a deep breath, and my nostrils were filled with the smell of spent lust. Warm morning skin moistened in a dew of hormonal sweat, the subtle pungency of sexual fluids, and the tang of orifices that had not yet coalesced into their fleshy confines. Ah, what a wonderful miasma. My eyes fluttered open, and I sighed with contentment. The morning sun wasn’t yet up, but I felt no need to rise. The day would bring immeasurable bloodshed, and so I clung to the...

Queen Yavara Chapter 61

Chapter Sixty-One YAVARA It took me months to fully heal from the wounds I suffered atop the tower. Even with the full expertise of the royal mages, my stomach and liver were permanently damaged, and my abdominal wall had to be held together with a stiff corset lest I develop a hernia. It made it damnably difficult to sleep, but at least my posture was always good. Headmaster Lucian assured me that it would only be a temporary measure, for he and his best mages were working diligently to...

Queen Yavara Chapter 19

ELENA “Oh fuck-fuck-fuck-fuck-fuck put me down, put me down!” I screamed, peeking over Yavara’s elbow at the thousands of feet of nothing between me and the ground. “Is that Castle Thorum off in the distance?” Yavara mused, “I think I see the Spearhead Mountains, but I can’t quite tell. Maybe we should go higher?” “I’ll kill you! I swear to god I’ll do it!” Yavara laughed, her black hair billowing in the wind. “You know, from this high up the landscape looks kind of curved, do you see...

Queen Yavara Chapter 35

Adrianna’s Story synopsis Adrianna employs her skills as a commander to rule over the wild population of tribespeople and Ardeni immigrants. She earns their respect through a brutal show of force, and in turn, proves to the other hybrids that she is capable of being governess, even if she reluctant to do so. There are seven other hybrids that Yavara changed. The women turned hermaphrodites are: Eva Alecia, Furia Agustinia, Alexa Jenania, and Kiera Lestria; the men turned women are: Faltia...

Queen Yavara Chapter 62

YAVARA I struggled to sit upright in my throne as the priest before me droned on and on about the Holy Mother bestowing me with my right to rule. The seats before me were filled with hundreds of minor nobles and rich merchants, for there were no representatives of the Noble Court to witness me anymore. Perhaps it had become much less dangerous to be queen of the Highlands, but it also had become much less prestigious. To make up for the lack of nobility, I decided to conduct the ceremony in...

Queen Yavara Chapter 23

Chapter Twenty-Three LEVERIA “…do you see that?” A nasally voice cut through the darkness. The darkness had been pure bliss, a blanket of nothing to drape over my mind, gently dulling the cruel light of life. The voice was an interloper, a screeching rooster at dawn’s window, rousing me unbiddenly from the deepest of slumbers. “What is that?” Another voice asked. Oh, it was a sweet sound, a songbird’s melody to announce the gentle rise of the sun, its warm rays filtering through my...

Queen Yavara Chapter 4

Chapter Four ELENA I was more than a little disappointed that the other rangers hadn’t found Yavara’s camp. It was less than a hundred yards from the main road and parked right in a clearing, as obvious as could be. The smell of rotting orc should have at least been a solid clue. I inspected the wound, confirming by the petrified flesh that it had been made by a Nadi arrow. I traced Yavara’s tracks a few hundred more yards into the woods until I found the remains of nine more orcs. I...

Queen Yavara Chapter 55

Chapter Fifty-Five LEVERIA I awoke to an explosion. Metal screeched, then banged, and I was suddenly hurled from my bed, and smashed into a wall. My head smacked against the stones, my teeth clicked, and whatever sleepiness remained left in my brain was shot out with a concussive thud. My blurred vision made out a pair of orange eyes, each of them bulging and trembling with wrath. “Good morning, Yavara.” I groaned. “What did you do?!” She snarled. I blinked, trying to focus my vision....

Queen Yavara Chapter 56

YAVARA I was in the midst of a great silence. It was deafening. The world around me seemed to pulse with it, fading in and out like the cadence of waves. Blood ran from my sister’s nose and mouth, and pooled onto the hollow of her throat. Her eyes were bloodshot and dull, staring at the ceiling. She was dead, and I didn’t feel anything. There was no catharsis, nor release, nor even a settling of peace. There was just emptiness. It was then that I realized how much of me was actually her. The...

Queen Yavara Chapter 7

Chapter Seven ELENA She looked so much like Yavara, but it wasn’t quite her. Her skin was tan, her hair black, her eyes were green, and her ears were rounded. She also was doing things that Yavara would never do. Yavara was adventurous, yes, but she wasn’t this adventurous. I watched as the woman who called herself ‘Trisha’ showed off her new pet: Prestira Rasloraca. She couldn’t be Yavara. The Yavara I knew was saving herself for a good man. The Yavara I knew spent her days practicing the...

Queen Yavara Chapter 27

TITUS The sinking sun cast the sky in crimson, illuminating the thick fog of the marshlands in ethereal red, the helms of the Highland army barely glinting through the haze. I watched it through the silk fabric of my mask, the rest of my body submerged in a murky pool. Topographically, this part of the Highlands was not part of the ‘high lands,’ for it was flat marsh without so much as a tree stump to raise the elevation. The border was drawn after the collapse of Alkandra to ensure that no...

Queen Yavara Chapter 50

Chapter Fifty ZANDER “Make way for the queen!” the crier yelled. One goblin rang a bell, another blared a farting trumpet, a third struck a snare with a military cadence, and the crowd roared with laughter. “Make way for the queen!” The crier yelled again. The trifecta of successive noises sounded, and the laughter and jeers answered once more. “Make way, make way, make way!” the crier yelled atop the float, zealous and gleeful with his role. He was dressed in the traditional garb of a...

Queen Yavara Chapter 36

GORLOK The rising sun was red over the Highland Rift, casting the silhouettes of trebuchets and ballistae in a bloody hue. The morning was still, interrupted only by the annoyed cawing of a distant crow. To my left, the horde’s line stretched to the northern horizon. To my right, there was no one. The tundra grasslands gave way to pine trees, and the Highland Rift ascended into thousand-foot cliffs all the way to Castle Thorum and the Knife River. I sat atop Ginger, my prize warg, the beast...

ZANDER “Yavara, it’s way too easy for me to get through that head. You need to either defend or counterattack; not try both.” Prestira lectured Yavara as the dark-elf collapsed on the floor, her chest heaving. “Can you explain to me how I’m supposed to defend against that?” Yavara gasped as she pulled herself up. “I told you, when you feel me manipulating our connection you need to block my advances. If you feel me up here,” Prestira placed her finger on her forehead, “that’s where you...

Queen Yavara Chapter 14

LEVERIA Head-ranger Adarian knelt before me. I let him kneel for quite a while, my anger simmering silently in the throne room. “Rise.” I finally commanded, “Explain yourself, Ranger.” “My queen,” Adarian said, rising to his feet, “our attack on the Terdini tribe was repelled. Brock Terdini was not present, but we did dispatch his wife.” “I don’t give a shit about his wife!” I said angrily, “How does an elite company of rangers lose to a pack of beasts?!” Adarian paused. “You Highness,...

Queen Yavara Chapter 22

LEVERIA The previous night had been a sleepless one. I’d sat in my office, drinking wine and contemplating the mirror before me. Its twin was hanging over Elena Straltaira. She was awake, staring up at herself, a thin rectangle of moonlight shining on her face. Though her jaw was swollen, her eyes were bloodshot, and her face was filmed with dried sweat and smeared blood, she shown like an angel to me in her lunar aura. “What the fuck is wrong with me?” She asked herself. I’d been asking...

Queen Yavara Chapter 53

LEVERIA “Wake up, sleepy-head,” a musical voice giggled. I opened my crusted-over eyes to see the blurry image of a bronze figure standing over me. This hybrid was fully-female, and her flesh was tattooed with calligraphy and chains that wrapped her like inked bondage. The parts of her that were clothed, were clothed in leather straps that squeezed her large breasts, crossed her tummy, encircled her thighs, and ended in garters that became fishnet stockings. She wore a feathered butterfly...

Queen Yavara Chapter 41

YAVARA Elena was straddled across my hips. My buttocks conformed perfectly into the inner portions of her thighs, and her cock nestled comfortably between them, its underside running pleasantly across my pussy and anus, teasing the receptive nerves there. Her thumbs kneaded the knotted muscles of my back, turning them into gelatinous mush that flowed warmly beneath the flesh. Her hair tickled my face, as it was cast over one side of her head so that she could plant delicate kisses upon the...

BROCK “…I don’t know what is custom for Highlanders, or royalty, but in the tribes—in the Terdini anyway—well, the Protaki as well, and those of the Northern Pines… goddamn it.” I growled to myself, took a deep breath, and tried again. “My queen, Yavara. I know that I am unworthy… no, confidence, Brock. Yavara—too informal? Confidence. Yavara…” I assessed the area around me, then brushed some of the dirt away from the floor of my tent, and got to one knee. “Yavara, I don’t know what is...

Queen Yavara Chapter 49

ADRIANNA The woman’s name was ‘Hannah,’ and she was a scout in Esmerelda Giana’s rebellion. The force was made up primarily of women and the elderly, which had undoubtedly been laughable to the nobles of the Feractianas province when they’d first heard of it. They weren’t laughing anymore. Esmerelda’s army had swallowed entire swaths of the southern Highlands, moving untouched through estates that would’ve been armed to the teeth in peacetime. If the gentry of Feractianas had thought that an...

Queen Yavara Chapter 45

Chapter Forty-Five ADRIANNA It had taken Furia and I a lot less time to get back to Alkandra. We didn’t bother going through the mines since Arbor had already caught us, so it took just two days in our swift vampire forms before we saw the candle-lit skyline of Alkandra between the trees. We transformed back to our elven forms, donned our stately robes, and rubbed the wrinkles out of them. I peered out from the tree line, and looked both ways. The agrarian fields were empty, the last...

CERTIOK The city was in chaos. People ran to and froe, shouting and screaming. No longer did the wide boulevards of Alkandra feel like a beast utopia, but like the walls of a cage. Windows were frantically boarded, men and women sprinted toward the castle in various stages of undress, watchmen handed out spears and swords without a care for who grabbed them. Everyone was a soldier now, and no one was. “Go to you posts!” I yelled, and began thrusting my finger toward the docks, “Remember...

I knelt to his level, and put a compassionate hand on his shoulder. “Progress is made by silencing doubters, little imperial. All great scientists of our...

Queen Yavara Chapter 26

Chapter Twenty-Six TITUS I’d always considered myself the foremost connoisseur of humanoid creatures on Tenvalia. I’d had every kind there was to have, and indeed, I’d developed something of a food pyramid to rank them. Yes, much like grades of meat in the butcher shop, there was a hierarchy when it came to quality of species. Bottom-shelf varieties included: orc, goblin, troll, and ogre. Orcs were too salty, goblins were too lean, trolls were too tough, and ogres were downright disgusting....

ELENA I kneeled in the great hall of Castle Bentius, King and Queen Tiadoa staring down at me from their white thrones. Princess Leveria Tiadoa sat at a lower throne next her father, not even trying to mask her contempt. I suspected she was quite glad of Yavara’s disappearance. Were it not for my ranger training, I might’ve jumped the bitch. “You may rise, Ranger Straltaira.” King Clartias Tiadoa spoke. I stood up and looked up at the king of the Highlands. “Do you know why you have...

BROCK “Loose!” I roared, and a hundred siege engines released at once, sending great boulders into the air. Those that were launched from the trebuchets tumbled as they arced, those that were launched from the catapults flew unspinning upon a line-drive path. The trebuchet boulders rained into Mid Fort, and the catapult boulders smashed into its walls, caving in the final few lengths of its eastern-facing side, revealing the inner sanctum, the citadel, and the high tower. Debris blasted in...

Queen Yavara Chapter 48

YAVARA Torturing Leveria wasn’t pleasing to me; it wasn’t even satisfying. When her shrieks of agony split the air, and she writhed in the perdition of her flesh, there was no joy in me; there wasn’t even a fury like there’d been when I did my work on Adarian. There was only anguish now, and the more Leveria suffered, the more I did as well, but within the depths of my own darkness, in my anguish that danced with her agony, I found some measure of release, and that release gave me a moment of...

ELENA The name ‘Prestira Rasloraca’ was familiar to me, and since my worldly news came in the form of barracks gossip, that meant she was probably a big deal. Upon further investigation, I learned that Miss Rasloraca had been First Mage of the Ardeni University for fifty years, which was no small feat. After that, she’d served as Arcane Master under the late Rondar Dreus, the previous regent of the Lowlands, of which Ardeni Dreus was the capital. There were several categories of witches and...

Queen Yavara Chapter 28

TITUS I shuffled over to Zander, every step a labor of agony. It had been two weeks since I’d sustained the wounds, but I still felt them acutely. Solar fire and Nadi wood were not things a vampire could simply recover from. It took the specialized training of the greatest wizard on Tenvalia just to get me walking again. He sat in his chair, smoking a pipe and staring out at the elven encampment three miles west. We were atop a hill, one of two hills in the entire Tundra, it seemed. The...

Queen Yavara Chapter 1

Prologue Yavara sat upon a black throne.

I waited until the last light faded, then I stripped my robes, and felt the cool wind caress my naked flesh. I took a deep breath of the night air, and my blood surged with a primal thrill. I pulled Tiffany into a heated kiss, tasting the avarice on her tongue, the suffusion of sexual desire and blood hunger, the need to...

Chapter Twenty YAVARA I blasted through the roof the chieftain’s hut. I didn’t stop for their exclamations, nor to see their faces of wonder before I scorched through the sky. Prestira’s dying thoughts were echoing in my mind. They took her, she said, they took Elena! Stay with me! It’s too late. It’s all my fault; I did this. No! I thought, This was Leveria, not you! LEVERIA I walked to the dungeons, my footsteps echoing into the still night. The guard nodded to me and opened the iron door. He guided me by torchlight through the catacombs, the wails and shrieks of captured beasts echoing through the halls. I followed with one hand on his shoulder, carefully watching my footsteps as I navigated the uneven stairs. A familiar voice reached my ears. CERTIOK I was stuck somewhere between boredom and existential terror. Within the shadow of Castle Alkandra, my battlegroup of the disabled and geriatric was shielded from the raining hell of boulders and missiles. The distant cacophony created a droning thunder that echoed off the castle’s atrium, which acted as an enormous stone bandstand. We hung about the castle steps, watching the destruction unfold with grim faces. For two hours, we just sat there, and as we sat there, terror turned to...

PRIVATE HESIA OF THE HIGHLAND ARMY “…I’m telling you, you’re safe if you don’t put the helmet on.” Alex said to me. We were stationed in the Crescent, a part of the Rift that bowed inward. It was the safest part of Sector Two, as the inward bow would funnel enemies into a crossfire. After being part of Droughtius’s fifth division and getting absolutely smashed at the Battle of the Tundra, it was nice to just man a wall. There’d only been one assault of the Crescent during the entire...

ADRIANNA I awoke from the best sleep I’d had in recent memory. I pulled the tangled mess of hair from my face, inundating my sinuses with the sweet smell of Furia’s morning skin. She was lying on her back, her cute little snores whistling from her, her fat cock standing at full mast from her womanly thighs. What a sight to wake to. I admired it for a few minutes, watching it throb and pulse, the apex shining with a delicious layer of her frosting. But I didn’t have time to indulge myself. I...

ADRIANNA There were times in my life where I stopped, considered the situation I was in, and whispered to myself, “What the fuck happened?” I was having one of those moments when I woke up that morning. The first thing I noticed, was that the gnawing in my nethers had subsided substantially. It wasn’t gone, but it was manageable. The second thing I noticed, was that I needed to take a huge shit. “Don’t.” Came a voice beside me, “I know what you’re feeling, but it will pass. You just need to...

ELENA Five days ago, we burned Sherok’s body. The Terdini and Protaki stood in solemn silence as Brock set the pyre aflame. He didn’t show his sadness, but we all knew his wrath. The next day he began to whip the Protaki into fighting shape. He was brutal and merciless with the ill-trained men, often times beating them into submission when they failed. Despite his ferociousness, he was fair, or “fair” by orc standards. He fed them better than they’d ever eaten at the Bend, and let them walk...

Chapter Ten ELENA One breath, then another. Adarian taught me that. ‘When you’re in the shit, and the world’s falling apart around you, just take one breath, then another. The first breath keeps you in the present, and the next brings you to the future. You’re still alive; you took the second breath. Congratulations. Now, take another.’ Of course, Adarian taught everyone that lesson. Only for most other rangers, it was meant to keep them centered in combat situations. For me, it was...

Did you get that?” “W-w-w-what?!” I rolled my eyes. “Practice it with me, little imperial. Queen Yavara Epilogue

PRINCESS PRESTIRA TIADOA Being a Highland princess was a lonely ordeal. Though my mother was a “free spirit” and encouraged me to make friends outside of the castle, I couldn’t bring myself to do it. A princess had her place, and it was not with the commoners on the street. That was why my only friend was my cousin, Adrianna Straltaira. Adri’s mom was a really busy woman, being the ambassador to Alkandra, so Adri spent most of her time living with her grandma, Great-Aunt Lydia, just a few...

BROCK The Terdini village was gone. The imperials had burned it to the ground while we were away. As I stared at it, I was glad that they had. Seeing it empty when it would never be filled again would’ve probably broken me. More so than I was already broken, anyway. My feet had carried me here on muscle memory, and now they did not know where to take me. South? North? West was the Highlands, and East was the Lowlands, and I didn’t want to see either ever again. South would take me past the...

PRESTIRA They tortured me all day. Hours and hours, I begged like a whore for them to make me come, but they just drove me to the brink, then stopped. They injected me with more poison when they were done, worsening the torment tenfold. I humiliated myself just for a touch; not even a fuck, but a caress, a slap, a punch. Every part of me was electrified, my nerves raging beneath the flesh, my synapses overloaded with sensation. I wasn’t Prestira anymore; I told them as much. “My name isn’t...

ELENA The drip of water, the howl of wind. The cold on my naked body. One breath, then another. That was what Adarian taught me so long ago. The room was lit by a barred window. It cast a dim ray onto my body, centering my exposed belly with a square of light. I was strapped to a wooden board in my cell, my limbs stretched in a spread-eagle, open and helpless. The binds were unescapable, I knew, for I’d placed many beasts in them myself. Only for them, the worst interrogation practice had...

Author’s note I decided to introduce the character of Adrianna (formerly Thomas Adarian) gradually throughout the story. At first, you only hear accounts of him, then you only see him through the eyes of other characters. It is only at the beginning chapter 20 that I let the story play through Adarian’s eyes. I wanted to give the reader the impression that his character was important, but I didn’t want to bog down the plot by introducing him early in the story when so many characters –Yavara,...

YAVARA It was two in the morning when Zander shook me awake. “What?” I groaned. “King Dreus is calling you.” “You think he’ll break this time?” I rubbed the sleep from my eyes, and sat up. “I think he’s ready.” I sighed. “Make me look pretty, Zander.” He cast a spell, and my disheveled appearance righted itself, makeup was applied to my face, and my eyes were cleared of redness. ADRIANNA I felt like I was being eaten from the inside. Something had been gnawing within my nethers, and it had only gotten worse with time. As the days went, my thoughts became muddled, my vision became hazy, tinged violet at the edges. My nipples were hard and taut, aching with fullness. My belly had constant butterflies, nearly nauseating. My flesh teemed, hot to the touch, yet goosebumps came at a moment’s notice. Feminine salvia dripped from my lower mouth and wetted my thighs. ELENA When I awoke, my heart was pounding in my chest so hard that I could feel it in my throat. What had I been dreaming of? Nothing. That timeless void, that empty space in my memory that existed between my fall from the tower, and my rebirth in Jonias’s catacombs. A chill crawled through me, though I was sweating bullets. I curled into the bedding, and suppressed a horrible sob. “Can’t sleep?” came a whisper from the darkness. In that moment, I wouldn’t have cared if the devil himself...

FIELD MARSHAL SHORDIAN I was groggy the next morning. Battle always took its toll the night afterward, when adrenaline and terror had eased from my body, and pain took up residence in their wake. I stepped from the citadel, and out onto the ruins of Mid Fort. Usually, I would have to take a few downward steps before crossing the threshold to the courtyard. Not today. The bodies were piled five-feet-high, and even higher along the walls. Thousands were dead in this small spot, no larger than...
