Fried steak. Every time he woke up, his senses were overwhelmed with the smell of fried steak.
"Lights on."
The sudden yet expected blinding light made him groan and roll over. He missed the old fluorescent light bulbs, the low hum and significantly dimmer light compared to the new LED lights in his room. But the station commander wanted everything to be modernized, so his old lights were taken down and incinerated, the new standard for garbage disposal on the decade old space station.

Growing up, he never liked coffee, let alone without creamer or sugar. But working for Time Force and going to time periods were creamer and sugar didn't exist has a way of changing your preferences.
Hearing the soft gurgling of the coffee maker stop prompted Jim to roll out of bed and walk over to the white mug of steamy brown goodness. Standing at 6 feet even with an athletic frame and black hair, most people would consider him moderately attractive. He had joined the US Army right out of high school and performed well enough to move on to Special Forces. Using one of the few financial benefits of joining the military, he enrolled in an online school with military grants.
This is where his true passion lay, history. Jim loved every bit of history, though his favorite was war and strategy. Understanding tactics and strategies used before him helped him excel at his job, which was kicking ass and taking names and leading a group of some of the most terrifying individuals you could ever run across.
With a history degree and many successful missions under his belt, he was promoted to Captain. This is when an interesting offer came his way. He was to join a newly formed, top secret military force that was dreamed up and funded by the United Nations.
Hesitantly, he accepted the offer and quickly found himself in the mysterious agency's headquarters several hundred miles above the Earth. Without specializing in engineering or science, he was given the quick run down of what was up.
It was explained to him that time can be thought of as a rope. The beginning of time would represent the beginning of the rope while the current time would be the other end of the rope. Within this rope, each thread could represent individual human lives and the twisting and turning format of the rope is how the different individuals interacted with each other. Well, like most rope, time tends to frey, in ways that could alter history as we know it. But this new agency, which he was inforned was called Time Force, was responsible for going back in time to carturize the wounds to the "time rope."
Jim was practically gitty when he signed the contract, an opportunity to kick ass and see past battles and war, count him in.
So here he was, 6 years into the best job he ever had and his first day back from a much needed vacation, getting dressed for this mornings breifings.
"I wonder where in time I'm going today" he asked to no one in particular.

"Hey Jim! How was Aruba?" Even though she was his boss, there was no denying how hot Sarah was. At 5' 7" with blonde hair, she would be considered the stereotypical ditzy bimbo if not for her 2 PhD's. Huge, gravity defying tits and equally physics breaking ass could stop any mans heart, especially Jim's.
"Eh, a little hot and windy. But I had a good time."
"Tap any cute ass?" Sarah knew exactly how to wink to make Jim weak in the knees.
Quickly replying "when you do that for a living, its hard to do it on your time off." This earned Jim a good belly laugh from Sarah.
"If only we were all so fortunate to have your job. So of us are stuck behind a computer all day."
Jim grinned and sarcastically said " oh no, is someone upset they have to stay on a multi-billion dollar space station, helping to save humanity as we know it instead of trudging through old timey towns and castles that usually smell like shit?"
"As a matter of fact, I am asshole." A quick smile to let him know it was all in good fun.
"So when am I going" as I excitedly rubbed my hands together.
