As you open your eyes and slowly regain your sense of sight, the world around you becomes clearer and clearer. You prop yourself up on your elbows, feeling the smooth grains of sand grip to your bare skin as the sharp point of your bent arm creates a cavity in the surface of the shore. The natural blur of your vision fades away and you can just make out the turquoise blue ocean, lush green forestry and white sand as it becomes more distinct by the second.
The sun shines brilliantly and the high clouds drift across the clear blue sky with such elegance. Your hands feel clammy and you use them to push you up to a standing position, which only causes more sand to stick to your palms, bounded by the combined sweat and moisture from the air. You try looking for any signs of human activity such as smoke but there was none in sight.
Still dazed and confused as to how you got on an island, you stagger towards the entrance of the dense jungle. You are trembling like a leaf and both your head and heart is pounding wildly as you hear the screams of various exotic birds and the constant faint sound of crickets and frogs each making their respective sound.
You start weighing up the options whether to continue exploring the beach, go into the jungle or just rest until the pounding of your head goes away.
“How the fuck did I get here?” You mutter quietly to yourself. You have no memory of anything prior to being stranded on this island but you can still remember everything else. The last memory you have was of going out to a nightclub with a couple of your best friends to celebrate the end of school exams.
Suddenly a hard impact to your spine throws you forwards into the shrubbery of the jungle and the side of your head collides with something hard, maybe a log or a rock, but either way it hurts. You start to hear a sharp ringing in your left ear get louder and louder. It becomes so loud that the screams and shouts of somewhat familiar voices are merely auditory clutter in the increasingly chaotic ringing. Clearly there is some sort of a disagreement between a few individuals of whom you can't clearly make out the faces of. You clutch the side of your head in extreme pain and hazily roll over to one side, curling up into a ball, as the world around you fades to a darkness and you gently slip into unconsciousness.
