She says fuck you, stomps up the stairs goes in the bedroom and locks the door.
She comes back down at eight thirty looking like the slut I know she is; I say looks like someone is getting layed tonight and we both know it won’t be me! She looks at me and says fuck you, I say that would be a pleasant change she turns to walk out the door gives me the finger and I say have an exciting night she stops dead in her tracks and stiffens up, and turns and says why would you say that, I turn my back and go in the kitchen. She stomps out the door slamming it behind her.
I say ok bitch your life starts coming apart right now! I pull out the burner and call her lovers wife’s cell, when she answers I say is this Mrs. Carla Simmons she says yes, I say I’m sorry to tell you this but your husband is having an affair and is in fact right now on his way to meet his lover. I say I am sending you two files to prove what I’m saying. I say I’m sorry and hang up. I had no idea she would snap and turn violent. Then I went out in the garage take the battery out of the burner phone and smash it. I hear a knock on the door, and I go let Dave in and tune into the fight.
At eight fifty Beth pulls up front of the Wagon Wheel and says to Pat if you get lucky fax me otherwise, I’ll pick you up here at eleven Pat says ok have fun, Beth says you can count on it! Beth drives around back parks next to Don’s SUV. They get out embrace and kiss, Don pulls Beth’s dress off over her head and they climb in the back of his SUV. At nine thirty an old silver Honda pulls into the lot drives around back its lights go out and it pulls up beside Beth’s car the door opens, a woman gets out walks around to the back door of Don’s SUV, raises a nine millimeter auto pistol and empty’s fifteen rounds in thru the back window and into the occupants in there. She gets back in her car and drives away.
At ten forty-five the fight was over, Dave and I are just cleaning up and there is a knock on the door, when I open the door there are two men standing there one says are Mr. James Miller I say yes, he says I’m Detective Bates and I’m sorry to inform you your wife was killed in an incident at the Wagon Wheel bar tonight. Tears run down my face as I stand there stunned, Dave drops the bottle he was holding and says my wife Pat Jones was with her is she ok. The cop says the only other victim was a male. Bates says this is my partner Detective Adams, you want to go get his wife’s info, they were separating us. Bates asks me have you been home all evening, I just stand there staring off into space. He says Mr. Miller I say sorry, he asks have you been here all evening I say yes we were watching the fight, where is she. Bates says she has been taken to the Medical Examiners for the autopsy. He asks do you have a handgun, I say yes he asks if I can take him to it I say yes to follow me.
Adams asks Dave if we have been here all night and if I have left at any time, Dave says other than to go pee we were here all night watching the fight. Dave asks can I try and call my wife Adams says please we will need to talk to her. Dave called her she answers and Dave says are you ok she says yes but something is going on police are all over the place and she can’t find Beth. Dave says you are at the Wagon Wheel right she says yes, he says stay there I’ll come get you. Adams says no we will have a uniform officer bring her here, tell her to find an officer and have him call me.
I walk back in with Bates he gets with his partner and says his gun is a forty-five and it hasn’t been fired in years. They both say they have been here all night, I tend to believe them, or they are in it together. I think we might get more from the wife that she went out with I have a uniformed officer bringing her here. He says we need to get CSI here swab both their hands for GSR just to be safe and eliminate them all together. Adams has CSI come and swabbed both of them and they were negative. When Pat got there, they pulled her aside. Adams asked her so what happened tonight, she says Beth dropped her off at the bar door and went around back to meet her lover. Bates asks her was Mr. Miller aware of his wife’s afair, Pat says Jim was clueless he was always busy working on projects. Bates says are you good friends with Mr. Miller, she says yes, Bates asks then why you didn’t let him know his wife was cheating on him, she just looked down.
At this point I had totally broken down and was crying my eyes out. Bates came over to me, I say what do I do now, Bates says you will need to contact a funeral home and make arrangements for her once her body is released. Then he asks is there anyone that can come over and help you out, I look at him and say yes Linda your sister. He says oh my god you’re that James Miller! Bates pulls out his phone and calls Linda and says you need to get over to your bosses house, his wife was shot and killed tonight, and we have now cleared him but he needs someone to be with him right now he is in rough shape, Linda says tell him I’m on my way.
Suddenly there is a commotion Dave is yelling at Pat what do you mean you knew she was meeting a lover, my god Pat what the fuck are you women doing on your nights out, you all out looking to get fucked. Adams moves between them and says look Mr. Miller does not need this; his wife has been murdered. Let’s take this outside, then Adams asks do ether of you have family nearby, Pat says My Mom, he suggests she spend the night there till Dave cools off. Dave says I’ll cool off after I talk to my lawyer! Adams holds Dave outside as Pat goes in her house to pack a few things, then watched as she drove away.
Don’s wife had been contacted at the hospital notified that of her husbands’ death. When questioned, she stated she had been in the operating suite all night as a stand-by nurse should she be needed to fill in for another nurse. She was fully washed dressed, gloved and masked. Actually no one could tell who was actually in the outfit. Her GSR test was clean but the hospital’s protocol for cleaning up for the OR would have eliminated any trace of GSR. The detectives knew from the number of gun shots in each victim it appeared to be a crime of passion. While Carla remained a person of interest, the case remains open.
Linda arrived and her brother told her what had happened. She told her brother Jim will be his future brother-in-law. Bates her brother asked if she and I were having an affair, Linda said no I had more class than that. She told him I had discovered her affair on Friday and that I had already started divorce proceedings against my wife, and Darla their sister was handling my divorce if he had questions talk to her.
Detective Bates says I think we have done all we can do here we are clearing out. As soon as they left Linda was in my arms, I picked her up took her up to the bedroom, put her down and she looked at me and said your all mine get naked. I watched as she pulled her top off and dropped her paints, I said holy shit, she says I know I’m hot and I’m all yours now come take me and make me yours.
I contacted a funeral home instructed them to retrieve my wifes body when it was released by the police, cremate her and throw her ashes in the trash. Linda and I were able to catch a flight to Aruba Saturday afternoon, we were married on the beach Sunday evening at Sunset. We spent three weeks there and when we came back our family had been started, although we didn’t know Linda was pregnet.
