"Jan, I need you to screen my calls coming in. Under no circumstances do I want to speak with my wife here at work. If she calls asking for me, would you please see to it that you won't put her through unless it is a family emergency."
"Of course, Frank. I'll go you one better, though. Not only won't I let her through, but I'll also promise that I will let you know right away if she should happen to call."
I thanked Jan and headed back to my office. It was nice to know that there were people who supported me, including those I worked with.
Later that day, just before I was planning to close up shop and head home, my cell phone rang. It was Lucy.
"Hello there, good looking," I said. I am trying to greet Lucy with one sort of endearment or another when she calls. She loves it to hear me in such a good mood. "Hey, babe. I'm just getting ready to leave. What's up?"
"Hi honey. Do you want to meet me at Dobby's Place at 6:00? Megan wants us to get together with her so we can go over our new 'arrangement'. I think she's anxious to get some ground rules set up."
Dobby's Place was a new bar/restaurant that Lucy found. We like the atmosphere there and Megan likes it too. The name is interesting enough, though.
"No problem, my sweetheart. Do you want me to meet you there?"
"Yes, Frank, that would be just fine. I'll see you there. Love you, honey!"
"I love you, Lucy. See you in a little bit."
Fifteen minutes later I was walking in the front door of Dobby's. Lucy and Megan were in a corner booth and when I walked up to them their faces lit up. It did my heart well to see two people who loved me so much.
Lucy leaned over and kissed me when I slid into her side of the booth. Not wanting to leave Megan sitting there feeling left out I took her hand and kissed it. She blushed at my show of sophistication, while Lucy just laughed. They had a pitcher of beer on the table, so I poured myself a glass.
"So, my beautiful ladies," I began. "Have the two of you got everything figured out?"
"Actually we do," said Lucy, with a huge smile on her face. "It will need your permission, Frank, but I suggested to Megan that she move into my house. There's plenty of room and it would mean that neither of us will have to be alone should you have to go on a business trip. Please say yes!"
Megan chimed in as well. "I don't want you to think that this is me making a move on Lucy, Frank. You two are the couple here. I'm just a little spice to make things interesting. I want to make it clear that the only one-on-one relationship here is you and Lucy. I'll only get involved when it's all three of us."
I must admit the thought of both of these sexy women staying at one house was exciting, but I wasn't sure if it was a good idea. To be honest, I had tinkered with the idea of asking Lucy if I could move in with her when I divorced Susan. Having the three of us all in the same house might complicate matters. I was lost in thought and the expression on my face must have given away my feelings.
"I'll tell you what," said Megan. "Why don't I make a trip to the restroom and I'll let you two think this over?" Before either Lucy or I could say anything she was up out of the booth and was gone.
"She's right, Frank," said Lucy. "You are my one and only, so I don't want you to feel threatened. I think it would help Megan if she had someone around. She feels alone as it is, so this would be good for her."
"Lucy, things are going to get mighty strange once my intentions are made clear to Susan. I stand to lose a lot in the divorce. As a matter of fact, I was hoping that I could move in with you once I've split from Susan."
Lucy began to laugh at this. "Of course you can move in, you silly. We've got my big bedroom and Megan will have the guest room. That would be even better. Just say yes and we can get around to living together, the three of us."
"Okay, then. Megan will move in as soon as she's ready. Let's wait and see how things go on my end before I take the plunge."
Lucy looked up at my face and kissed me.
"Hey, you two, get a room, why don't you?" It was Megan, back from the ladies room. She sat down across from us. "Well, have you two decided on anything?"
"Yes, Megan, we have," I told her. "You can move in whenever you're ready. I have to warn you that I might move in once things get rolling with my divorce."
"That's fine with me," Megan replied. "I was wondering when you two would get together."
Lucy finished her beer and sat up. "I've got a great idea. Why don't we finish discussing this at my place? we can order out and, who knows, maybe we might do a little more than just talk."
"That's a great idea, but I need to swing over to my place and pick up some things. I'll meet the two of you over there." I had bought an extra toothbrush and some toiletries. I figured I would need them since I tend to spend the night more often than not.
Megan got up from the booth. "Lucy, I'll follow you, if that's okay?"
"That works for me," Lucy said. "Frank, don't take too long."
I left enough money to cover the check, along with a healthy tip. We all left and got into our cars.
As I pulled into my drive at home, I noticed a different car parked in the street right in front of my place. I figured one of the neighbors had a guest.
As I fumbled for the keys I heard a familiar voice from behind, and footsteps on the driveway.
"Hello, Frank. Are you surprised to see me?"
I turned around, but I knew who it was. Susan stood there with a suitcase . My heart froze and I couldn't catch my breath.
"Aren't you going to invite me in, Frank? I'm tired after that long flight and I could use a bath."
