Part One.
Blackness....... Darkness......then light so bright I see nothing else.
Then Darkness once again.
Murmurs.......mutterings in the dark.......wait....voices....I can make out
voices.
The blackness fades to grey and then I can make out shadows, no wait its
people all around me. My vision is becoming clearer now. Closest to me
is a man. He is right over me. He is saying something to me but I can't
make it out. I see his lips moving, fast...something about saving me.
"..........I need an answer now. Yes or no."
I made that out. Painfully I nod my head and then all goes black once
more.
There is darkness once more.
Oblivion.
Am I dead. I hear, see, feel and smell nothing surly I am dead yet how
am I aware. If there is an afterlife then surly this is not it. Yet if there is
not surly I would not be aware.
Eternity.
I feel something now. I am lying on something soft. I can smell the sweet
fragrance of flowers. Hear the sounds of birds in the distance, muffled
yet I can still make them out. Over the sound of the birds I hear a
repeating beeping sound.
Slowly, slowly I open my eyes. Everything is blurry at first but quickly
starts to focus.
I am in a bed. In a large well decorated bedroom. Next to me I can see
some medical machines. I feel strange different somehow.
I slowly pull the duvet back and what meets my eyes shocks me.
I look down upon a body alien to me. I look down upon the body of a
woman.
Pulling my legs over the side of the bed I drop to the ground and have to
stop a few seconds to get my energy back up. I see a mirror across the
room and head for it. Only stopping to detach the medical wires that
were stuck to my body. When I reach the mirror I let out a small,
feminine gasp as I see the figure before me. She must be no more than 21
years old. Only a year younger than I had been. She has shoulder length
wavy black hair. Her face is beautiful. Large green eyes, a small
feminine nose and mouth, lush thick lips, high cheek bones on a pale
face. I then look down to the body which is undeniably female and only
covered by a simple white cotton nightgown. The body has larger then
average breasts, a thin waist which then flares into wide child bearing
hips which flow down into smooth curvaceous legs.
I study myself for a good few minutes.
Who am I. Where am I. I cant have amnesia for a remember my life
before. I was a man. My life was just starting. I had finished University
and many employers were interested in hiring me. I had been on the way
to a meeting with a potential employer when suddenly there was
nothing......blackness.
I sat down in the chair next to the mirror and tried to grasp what had
happened to me.

Chapter 2
I look back on that day with a sense of wonder. Not only because of the
fact that I had suddenly found myself in a strange alien body, but also
because of the way I coped with it. I am very surprised that I didn't go
into shock. Yet there I was sitting in that chair hoping, waiting for
questions answered. It wasn't very long before at least some of them
were.
I jumped slightly as I heard the door open. In walked a tall, broad
shouldered man in his fifties. He had light brown hair which greyed at
the sides. His eyes were icy blue, his face grizzled yet handsome with a
stout square chin. He wore a well cut black suit and pinned on him was a
identity badge which labelled him as a Dr Anthony Brooks, Director of
ISC.
He looked startled to see me up and stared at me a good few minutes. I
was starting to feel a little unsettled when he finally spoke.
"Don't be alarmed. I am here to help you. Do you remember me. I was
the one who offered you a chance. Do you remember?"
I shook my head. I had never seen him before, at least I didn't think I
had. Yet there was something about the voice, I was sure that I had heard
the voice before.
"Nothing to worry about. You may have a slight case of amnesia. My
name is Dr Anthony Brooks. What's has happened to you is probably the
biggest breakthrough in medical science the world has seen. You are the
first human being to have had a fully successful brian transplant."
I don't know whether it was the conformation that did it or the relief that
I was not mad but as soon as he finished the sentence a flourish of
questions came forth.
"Why have you done this?...Why me?...Why this body and not a male
one?....How is this possible?"
I stopped and gasped as I heard my voice. It was several octaves higher
than I was used to. A softer more feminine voice was present.
"You were in a serious accident. A car had veered of the road and
crashed into you. The hospital could do nothing for you and were simply
waiting for you last final heart beats. And that's when I found out about
you. You were a perfect case to finally put my efforts into practice with.
Your body was damaged beyond repair yet your brain.......your brain was
in perfect health. I managed to get you transferred to my clinic and there
we brought you to consciousness and offered to transplant your brain.
We were starting to lose you and had to start the operation in an hour but
luckily you had your wits about you enough to give us your consent."
"But why this body. Why not one closer to my old one." I asked still
marveling at the sound of my own voice.
"We didn't have a unlimited store of bodies. Just a few which had been
donated. We had to get one with the right blood match and this was the
only one. If I could have used a male one I would have but we didn't
have time to find one."
I looked down upon myself.
"Who was she?"
He looked at me confused by the question at first but then realizing.
"She was a young student. She died of a brain hemorrhage. I knew her
father well and so therefore knew her when she had been growing up.
She knew about my work and said she would like to donate her body if
ever something should happen to her."
I saw a weary sadness spread across the Doctors face and decided not to
push it any further.
He eventually looked up and into my eyes once more.
"I know this must be very hard for you to come to accept. I am here to
help in any way possible as is my staff and we shall assure you privacy
for as long as you need to adjust. Now I suggest you get some rest.
Tomorrow we can start to help you to come to terms with your new
body."
That night I had many nightmares yet by the morning a remembered
none of them.
