Princess Night Part Three - The Prom Queen: Plan A

Getting the family ready for church is a to-do even in the
crispest of clan's; for the Wallersons it was mayhem. The two
youngsters didn't want to go to church, and Babs rarely took
them. Over the years, she had 'binged' now and again on church
going, usually at the 'Ruined Brigade, Church of My Total
Redemption' out on the Fringe Road, because a few of her friends
went there.
Since the unhappy discovery of her boy's 'mr dressup' activities,
and also wanting to impress goodness on her family, Babs saw
renewing the family's church going as killing a few birds with
one well thrown stone. The racket of the household attested to
its impact if nothing else.
Wanda preferred to sleep in, Erika wanted to work on her diary
(early morning being her most thoughtful time) and Geary was his
usual reticent indifferent self. As the family made its early
preparatory efforts, with howls from Erika over Wanda's hogging
the bath, and Wanda's angry defence of herself, their parents
each by themselves got organized.
Geary had life divided into things to do and things to ignore;
but church fell in neither category. As head of the household, he
would fill the requirements of his station. He wouldn't refuse.
While Babs flew around the place, swirling large gusts of wind
with on-the-fly instructions to the various family members, she
felt she maybe should make churchgoing a habit. It was the one
thing the family did together, it appeared, and that pleased her.
No family is a mess because the power in it wants it to be.
For Erika, going to 'mass' was a confusing idea at best. First,
what the hell does a T-girl wear to mass? Her ma would be very
interested in her choice, and that fucking Wanda would be eager
to point out deviations from normality, so these were critical
decisions. With her dad also ponderously getting ready, silently
doing his duty, Erika was aware it would be easiest to just put
on a suitcoat and tie, and comb back her hair, just for a few
hours church took. But she had already moved beyond conformity's
limits, in a few weeks.
Her man Paul had contributed a fair amount of the starch to the
young fairy's firmness. Beyond that, like most young people,
Erika thought she was immortal, so eschatological (endtime)
thoughts never bothered her much. The church teachings that men
are men and women women with a gulf between which people never
cross was deeply ingrained in Erika like everybody else, though,
and made her a wrongdoer in her own mind.
In her room, Wanda tried on one of Erika's short skirts. After
adjusting it, it fit her, and she liked it! For the first time in
a long time, she preened in front of her mirror, making two
Wallerson's now who were a bit vain about their appearance.
Later, the family parked Geary's one ton cub cab in the church's
vast parking lot. For some reason, the evangelical type churches
hold their uniqueness dear, but all seem to have vast parking
lots! Room for polluters to worship.
Erika had settled on her new blue leather jacket, and had tied up
her hair with an Indian style headband, sailing close to the line
of the hatless men rule. Her makeup was very subdued, so much
that while Babs wasn't happy, she never sent the young man back
to the drawing board neither. Kireka also wore a Reggie Strong
shirt (which is inisex) and a pair of pinstripe grey slacks, just
snug enough not to offend. She looked fine by any standard, and
having a good looker in the family gives it status naturally.
When Wanda came out wearing Erika's Casey Hindman skirt, looking
good too, she half expected her brother to join her in battle,
but was surprised when he just told her she looked 'cool.'
Perhaps the Good Lord was arranging things spiritual at the
Wallersons' that Sunday morning, that being His job.
Pastor Dick greeted the worshippers as they filed into his
church, his helpmate beside. An organ ground out practice hymns
inside while the usual 'Hi howaryou, God bless y'all's' were
being handed generously out. He was pleased to see the
Wallersons, they being spotty attendees at church whom he meant
to visit for god knows how long, but hadn't, being very busy.
Murmured greetings and beaming smiles for the parents and their
two beautiful daughters... or was the slender one a... Pastor
Dick suddenly remembered some of the rumours he'd been hearing,
that the Wallerson son was 'crossdressing!' Pastor Dick made a
mental note to himself: visit that home.
There is so much evil in the world, crossdressing seems petty at
worst. But Pastor Dick also knew that sinfulness was rampant
where the people's guard was lowest, and unfortunately in a
tolerant nation like Kanadusamex dressing in girl's' (if a boy)
or boys' (if a gal) clothing hinted at Sodom's reign, an obvious
no-no. During the free speak part of the sermon; the pastor
therefore elaborately mentioned the importance of obedience to
the strict laws of male superiority and female submissiveness,
which had many in the congregation nodding in agreement.
Especially young Kirk Wallerson, who more than agreed that the
femme part of man needed to be reminded that its place was on the
bottom in its relationships! Kireka was afraid the reverend would
get going on those who acted queer regards their gender, but Dick
didn't, getting carried away with the import of maintaining the
status quo, and quite forgetting that he wanted to warn against
moral waywardness!
Sissy the Twin
Paul laid out Sissy's things. Erika and Sissy were similar in
size and build, but Paul had taken Erika's measurements quietly,
and had the clothing adjusted for her. He wanted everything
perfect for the prom. He had learned a fair amount about Miss
Kirka; that she was a mama's boy, who had few friends, certainly
none close. He also learned that the family just scraped by, the
father's contentment with the basics heading off any chance to
get ahead. Erika thus had very closed horizons.
The next day after Erika and family went to church, Paul called
her over, and arranged after school drinks out at Rudy's. Erika
never mentioned she was grounded, that being immature sounding.
She was already keeping secrets from her boyfriend! Paul, of
course, already knew the girl was grounded, having a source close
to Wanda, and made a point of getting her to go along with
violating the mother's stringent law governing after school
rules; in the interest of controlling her. He didn't mind Erika
keeping secrets, as long as he knew about them. The plot got
thicker!
Dave Clerkre chauffeured Miss Softy out to Rudy's, and was the
height of propriety. It took only a mention by Erika of his ham
fisted manhandling of her the first time to let Dave know, via a
hard jab to the gut, that making Paul Stranglar or his crowd
unhappy was not the way to achieve progress in Straitsville. Dave
was a fast learner, and being saccharine sweet to the pansy bitch
was no problem. Clerkre did daydream idly though, as many
powerless people are wont, about how a steel clothes hanger would
feel whipped across Kirk's ass, and the screams for mercy the
whipping would elicit, all this with a hearty smile on his face!
He would watch for any opportunity presenting itself, and kept
rope, tape and clothes hanger in his car in case he stumbled onto
one!
When Paul saw the girl coming to their favourite booth, he was
pleased. If anything Erika was getting better each day, the
opposition of the mother notwithstanding. Erika seemed to stand a
bit taller as Kirk's mild slouch faded, attesting to its
spiritual origins. She was mentally a healthier animal then he
had been, Paul noted with pleasure. Nevertheless, as Paul watched
her shyly stop a couple times to greet new friends who wouldn't
let her pass without hi's, he noted areas for improvement, which
he intended to fix before the prom, only a couple weeks away.
One concerned her habit, when standing, of rocking a hip, a
subconscious statement that she was nervous. Paul took a tiny
black book out of a pocket, and in tiny print entered the
exercise she would do to stop the self-exposure. Another problem
he saw - her walk! Just slightly too heavy, her weight a bit too
forward. Sissy walked like a supermodel, and as Erika greeted her
friend, Paul noted if Paula could do it, so would Erika! If he
had to brace her head to keep her chin up, shoulders square, he
would do it. Sissy deserved nothing less!
Erika was infatuated by Paul. Some people carry the good things
accumulated through generations in their manners, an ease and
casual cool under the worst stress that has to be learned from
parents, grandparents and so on. It's called breeding, though
only the crass still call it that, it sounding to many of animal
husbandry. The Stranglar family was old blood, really really old
blood, at least that's what the grandmother maintained. A certain
propriety was expected of Stranglars, indeed demanded. Paul, and
especially his twin, who was dead, had been running into them
walls forever, it seemed! Rules bugged Paul, though not as much
as they did Sissy, who made a game of breaking them. As the
lovely miss settled into her seat, Paul was glad his twin sister
wasn't around to see her! Fertilizer! Paul shook his head at that
word, a mite shocked.
Paul had plans for the evening. After refreshments, a couple
games of billiards, which Erika still improperly called 'pool,'
and some socializing- football jock Steve Hanford was there, with
his gif, hottie Christa O'Neil- whom Paul had seen was disturbed
by Hanford's interest in Kirk (Erika). Jealousy is such a fine
emotion Paul thought; as he listened to Erika's clear high and
eager voice describe attending church and her efforts to 'be
good.' Between thinking of how to use Erika to aggravate the
potential Steve and Christa spat, and considering what she was
telling him about her family, very important, Stranglar noted
that her voice, while very good, could stand some work Deftly he
produced the black book and jotted an aide memoire, without
distracting the waif. Fertilizer! Paul subconsciously shook his
head to banish that kind of thinking. Sissy!
A few times, Paul spotted his date glancing at a clock, with tiny
anxiety. He loved pulling her away from the small action that
would solve her problem, a simple phone call! It wasn't cruelty;
it was craft on his part. Getting Erika ready for the prom was
going to require some late evening's work, and finesse was the
only difference between gent and cave man.
Paul had never had a proper girl; Sissy had been all the
girlfriend he had ever needed, until she died. The allergy to
women had only been challenged a few times after his twin's
death, and Paul had backed off before it got too bad. Paul dealt
with the situation by having numerous gifs, not giving his
allergy time to flare up, as one would cause. He also belonged to
the class of people who talk about others, not suffering being
talked about themselves. Therefore since coming to Straitsville
he had avoided getting a reputation, even despite the fact he was
getting close to a pretty boy. The same social mechanism that
protected Stranglar to some extent provided for Erika too. No
wonder the kid felt more confident!
Paul (and Erika) challenged Stevie and Christa to a game. Christa
couldn't stop Steve from agreeing, and was pulled along. Erika
detected Christa's hatred, and was afraid of her, but was also
dragged along. Her father was former town mayor, and her family
was one of Straitsville's best situated. That explained Paul's
interest in her (and Erika's fear). But for all the consideration
the daughter of a town's richest family gets, sympathy isn't one
of them! They are ruthlessly ignored in many ways! Paul played a
brand of hardball that Coy County elite teens heard and knew
about, but wouldn't see until they got nailed between the eyes!
They were no different then the grimiest poor in that regard.
Unbeknown to anyone, Paul liked Christa O'Neil since the first
time he saw her!
When the game was being set up, the two girls eyeing each other
from behind their bifs, Paul suggested they exchange partners,
complimenting Erika's skill as a shooter, and wanting to share
the advantage with his friend Steve, plus desiring a chance to
say 'I was on a team with the lovely Christa!'
This reasoning was impossible to resist, and Hanford jumped at
the chance, needing little persuasion. Erika liked Steve, he was
straightforward and clear eyed handsome. Under normal conditions,
she would be overjoyed at playing with Steve, but a variety of
distractions were at work. She needed to go home for one!
Another was the anger of Christa O'Neil, a girl whom Kirk had
never even talked to, though they were in the same grade. Christa
had power to hurt Erika, and she knew it. She cringed at the
unfolding scenerio. O'Neil had a way of tearing strips off
'upmobiles' which was one of her milder terms for competitors
from lower economic status than she, and in Straitsville that was
everybody!! Her Steve's interest in Kirk Wallerson caught her off
guard when it came to disposing of the problem though. In the old
days, a well-placed word would have had the bitch tarred and
feathered, but liberalism was run amok in Kanadusamex! Christa
O'Neil, like countless million others, was dealing with her
personal problems by becoming hard and mean!
All this played into her hands too. She liked Stranglar, and knew
he was at least as rich as she. The 'game' they were now playing
was happening on different levels. Only she and Paul knew of the
second, invisible game, the important one. They watched as Erika
and Steve teamed up. Both kids knew: there are the watched, and
there are the watchers. They belonged to the latter; Steve and
Erika the former. Christa caught the glint in Paul's eye, the
mischief. He was like a fighter pilot, dodging and weaving.
After the game, Paul took Erika away, having damaged Steve. The
bolts of icy scorn Christa O'Neil sent to Erika had upset her,
but Paul pretended he never saw it! As they drove away from
Rudy's, Paul savoured the way Hanford had blushed when he helped
Erika set up a shot, with Erika looking into his eyes over her
shoulder! The sparks coulda started a fire! Paul could see at one
point Steve hiding an erection, trying to use the game table to
hide behind! He was sure O'Neil saw it too. Sissy had taught him
well when it came to 'dirty pool!'
At the bluffs, which was a hilly area halfway to town from
Rudy's, where the locals had hidden lovers' lanes overlooking the
city lights, they parked and Paul coldly told Erika he saw her
fucking around with Hanford! Erika was confused, it being Paul's
idea, but Paul pressed ahead. He was trying to introduce her to
good people, he commented acidly, and she flirts with the idiot
boyfriend! Erika tried to reason with him, tried to defend
herself, but she was soft putty! Within minutes, Stranglar had
her crying. Paul cursed the mess, then angrily drove her home.
Just before he got there, on a dark street, he pulled over and
unexpectedly took the confused, hurt and scared girl into his
arms, comforting her, acting like her tears had melted the tonnes
of ice her stupidity and arrogance had created while he was
innocently trying to advance things! Erika, like Steve Hanford,
wasn't by any means stupid, but true innocence is shed quickly by
the worldly wise.
Paul played a tricky kind of game for a few minutes. On the
surface, he was comforting Erika, holding the unhappy youth
close, giving her much needed encouragement. On a slightly deeper
level, he criticized her. She was a cow, lumbering about! She
sounded like a foghorn; her voice was so coarse! She twitched and
shook like a dying wino! Erika was shocked. Before this criticism
sent her off on another round of tears, he mentioned a 'friend'
who could show her how to mince without looking foolish, how to
talk without sounding affected, and how to stay cool by using
breathing exercises etcetera. Erika agreed. On the third and
deepest level of the scheme, Stranglar drove her right to her
door!
Even Erika recoiled at the idea of her mother seeing her escorted
home by a guy! But Erika was behind the curve of what was
happening, as many people are when dealing with the Paul
Stranglars of this world. Despite the sounds of anxiety she gave
off, Paul pulled her from the car, leading her to the house.
Before she could react, he opened the door, stepping aside for
the pale faced kid. In a torment of emotions, Kirk went inside.
Babs was furious. The boy was grounded, yet there he was, gone!
When she heard the homecoming noises, which she was listening
for, she rushed from her station in front of the television,
prepared to administer a good walloping to her youngest!
But before anything could happen, a coolly trim young man greeted
her profusely, telling 'Mrs W' he was sorry at the hour, but Kirk
had been helping him study and he was horrified to learn that he
had been imposing on her generous boy's goodness! The performance
never held water, when examined closely- what excuse did Kirk
have for not calling home?
But Paul was too smooth to let details like common sense disturb
his act. He needed to clear the way for Erika to bone up on the
things required to make her a more realistic woman, and that
meant late nights for awhile. Indeed study sessions, just like he
was telling Mrs. W, without the distraction of worry. Babs was
stopped in her tracks by Paul's charm, then turned and
redirected, all with lots of smiles and deference!
Wanda had come out of her room, not so eager to see the brother
punished, but still interested in what was happening. She was
surprised to see Paul, whom someone said was friendly with Kirk,
but for him to come into their house! Wanda clutched at her
housecoat, and looked stricken at the godawful mess the place was
in. She wished she had at least washed the dishes, which were
piled in a reeking mess in the sink. The action had moved from
the hall into the kitchen.
Paul ignored the mess, the smells of old undeodorized air, and
the cheap naked quality of the home. He complimented Mrs W on her
son's decency and intelligence, which was the only thing helping
him get through the year!
Babs was impressed. And flattered! It wasn't everyday a young man
like Paul Stranglar honoured her hard work rearing her children,
and she was proud of Kirk, now that Paul mentioned it! In other
words, the good-hearted woman was totally disarmed.
Wanda shyly offered the guest a soda, while hurriedly clearing
the dining room table so the visit could proceed. Erika was
almost heartbroken with shame at what Paul must see, now even
more then her earlier fear of being punished for being late and
disobedient. But Paul lay to rest that devil! With a kind of
earnest sadness, he looked around and openly wished he had the
good fortune to grow up in the bosom of a similar loving family,
he and his beloved twin sister Paula, whose death he still
mourned! Even Erika was moved. Poor Paul! The unexpected visit
was a wonderful success!
