job, apparently quite lucrative, because you drank on company time, and gambled
with company money. Is this true?"
John Phillips wanted to explain. It was true, but there were explanations.
Excuses. But all that came out was mmmph, in high pitch.
"Mr. Phillips, I don't need excuses. There will never be room for excuses in
your life again. In fact," and Chanazene's calm voice edged to venom, "I think
the word excuse is the worst, most useless, word ever invented."
John Phillips subsided. Clearly his protestations were not being heard, heeded
and barely even noticed.
"I have here, excepts, of your emails, Mr. Phillips. The respondents have
notarized that they received them and in most cases, provided me with copies of
them on their own computers. Copies sent and copies received match. In these,
you say a multitude of confusing messages.
"Do have anything to say? I thought not, you stupid shit head. You say, woman
are bimbos and sluts. You say your wife spends too much money, that, oh!, your

Chanazene looked up expectantly. And waited. "Silence is assent, Mr. Phillips."
She looked over to Maria. "I am prepared to pronounce sentence, Ms Phillips, if
you so allow. But once done, it is binding. You may leave now, with this husband
of yours, should you choose. I am not Judge Judy, but in this establishment, I
am the law."
Maria Phillips looked despondent, and reluctant. But firm. "When can I have my
husband back and obedient?"
"Ms. Phillips, you sign first, then I sentence, but I will forewarn you, that it
may be some time."
"I understand." John Phillips watched his beautiful wife bend at the waist and
sign the papers, one after another. He saw that she didn't even read any of it,
so angst was she.
Chanazene gathered up the papers. "I will now pronounce sentence."
The two woman next to John Phillips knelt, and Maria followed the example and
knelt also.
Chanazene stood up. She strutted around the table, heels clacking, and stood
before John Phillip. She rested her hand upon his head.
"I, Chanazene el Torresta rel Delmar, pronounce you, Mr. John Phillips, guilty.
You are guilty of being a bigot. You are guilty of being a chauvanist. You are
guilty of being inconsiderate! You are guilty of," She paused, looking at Maria,
what a lovely specimen, a woman of power, if ever she would learn how to be. She
thought, I would like her on my staff, if she ever had any backbone. "And you
are guilty of being a total idiot!"
"Thus shall this be. And now, Mr. Phillips, your sentence: Five years. Your new

same."
As Chanazene read her sentence, John Phillips screamed, and Maria cried, legs
bucking, and fell to her knees. "Five years?"
"It will take that long. You may visit on weekends, Ms Phillips."
"B-but, what will I do without him, Mistress Delmar?"
"You will need to speak with our concierge, Ms Phillips. She will find you a
better, er, rather, a fond distraction, for you. I promise you, you will not
feel lonely."
"T-thank you, Mistress Delmar," Maria said, but wondered what she had meant,
hoping just a little bit, though she would never admit as such to her mind, that
it might involve friendship, and better yet, sex. Even.
"It's part of the contract, Ms. Phillips. We will take care of him and take care
of you. I could have determined that this would have been a two day bondage

Maria melted at the sight of him and John Phillips saw it and screamed through

Maria was melting at this, attention. She was a little dim and had been beside
herself about her husband, but everything seemed to be working out. Mr. Celanto
held out his hand, and she rose. Suddenly, she felt meanness, in spite of

John Phillips could hear the clacks of his wife's high heels and the man's
polished shoes recede, as they left, arm in arm.
