SYNOPSIS
Curious about the name, Jack wanders into the Bondage Boutiqu?, where
he meets three beautiful sisters who introduce him to a new kind of
domination (changes occur throughout).
BONDAG? BOUTIQUE: Open for Business
(c) 2005 - by ChumleyX
The sun peaked through the curbside trees and danced across the city
sidewalk. Enjoying the warm spring breeze, Jack strolled about,
traversing the local scene on foot. He knew exactly what he wanted. But
he had no idea where to find it.
Jack had been married for exactly two years. His anniversary dinner was
fast approaching and he still needed to buy his wife a gift. He knew
Lisa would love a pair of Emerald earrings, but she preferred wearing
the longer, dangly type. Of course, she would never admit to wanting
something so expensive. But Jack knew her better than that.
Standing about 6'2", Jack had a healthy build topped by a mess of dirty
blonde hair - hair that he let it grow just a bit too long, as he
rarely found the time to cut it. He was no male model, but he never had
a problem attracting the ladies. And Lisa was no exception.
He was a likeable fellow. Most of his flaws were hidden to the public -
an important trait for a real estate agent. But there was another side
to Jack, one he kept well protected, even from his wife. And he had no
intention of letting her know his secret. While he regretted paying an
occasional visit (and wad of cash) to a sexy, hardcore dominatrix, he
felt worse about lying to his wife. But he couldn't help it - it was
his private obsession and Lisa was just too timid to give him what he
craved.
As he continued window shopping, he happened upon a narrow backstreet
avenue. He'd never noticed it before. The name on the street sign read
DESTINY ST. He thought about whether he might find his own destiny down
that way, or at least a pair of emerald earrings.
---
The avenue had plenty of character. A French caf?, a tiny pet store
that specialized in critters, and a number of clothing shops stretched
before him. But it was the Bondag? Boutique that almost immediately
caught his eye. Jack looked at his watch. He had time. Feeling a twinge
of excitement, he made his way toward the entrance.
As he stepped closer to the storefront, he became a bit confused. The
window was decorated with three female mannequins, all adorned with
typical ladies apparel. One advertised a sexy yellow miniskirt and
halter top; a second was wearing a blue spandex workout leotard; and
the third was dressed in a smart crimson pantsuit. Aside from the name,
it looked like an ordinary clothing boutique for women. As if to
further prove that point, the slogan beneath the sign read, "Creating
the Modern Woman." It was written in hot-pink decorative typeface.
Jack felt a little disappointed. Still, he decided to check it out.
Maybe he'd stumble upon those earrings for Lisa. It was worth a shot.
The entrance and display window were both covered by a pink and white
striped canopy. Fragrant green ivy worked its way up the front of the
two-story building. As Jack pushed open the multi-windowed door, a
small bell jingled above. The smell of faint perfume wafted his way. It
was a pleasant, welcoming aroma.
The boutique was moderately-sized, but the space felt confined. There
was a great deal of inventory. Several circular displays cluttered the
sales floor and more display racks lined the walls. There seemed to be
clothing for ladies of all ages and sizes, from little girls to big and
tall women. There was even a maternity section. The shear amount of
merchandise gave the store an unkempt appearance, but it was cozy all
the same.
After drinking in the atmosphere, Jack turned his attention to a rear
display. A shapely little sales clerk dressed in a pale yellow jacket
and matching skirt was adding new dresses to the rack. She had a
slender, petite build and was probably a good foot shorter than Jack.
Her face was blessed with large, light brown eyes and a warm smile.
Reddish hair with pink highlights framed her pretty face. She appeared
to be in her mid-twenties.
Gazing upon her beauty, Jack was a taken aback. This woman had the
figure of a centerfold. She was a tad short, but stunning nonetheless.
He was used to seeing such attractive women on television or in
magazines, but he could count on one hand the number of times he saw
such feminine splendor in real life. He couldn't help but stare. And of
course, she noticed.
"Hi there!" the sales woman chirped in a high-pitched, cheery voice.
"Can I help you find something?" She headed toward Jack. It took him a
moment to snap out of his daze.
"Um... yes, actually. I'm looking for some jewelry for my wi- friend."
Jack didn't know why he lied. It's not as though he expected anything
sordid to come of this encounter.
"We're really more of a clothing store," said the clerk, "but we do
have a limited selection of jewelry behind the counter."
"Great," smiled Jack. "Thanks..." He glanced at the name on her badge
and continued. "...April." The name suited her.
She returned the smile. "No problem at all. My sister will help you at
the counter." She pointed toward the rear wall.
The counter was all the way in the back, which was a little strange for
a store that wasn't a pharmacy. As he made his way past the displays,
he caught sight of April's sister. Again, disbelief set in.
She was tall, maybe 5'11" in heals, with long dark hair, which shaped
her flawless, tanned complexion. Behind thin-rimmed glasses were the
most alluring eyes. They were green and sparkly, not unlike the emerald
earrings he sought. She was dressed in a smart, maroon ladies suit. It
traced her bust line in a sexy, classy manner. She looked to be about
ten years older than her sister.
Jack just kept walking toward her with a stupid grin on his face. To
see one truly gorgeous woman is rare, but to see another just two
minutes later is almost unheard of. These women belonged in a Miss
America Pageant or the Playboy mansion; not selling women's wear in
some backstreet boutique. While staring at her breasts, he happened to
see her name badge. She was the supervisor. Her name was Mabeline.
She asked him in an ear-pleasing alto, "I heard you chatting with
April. You need jewelry, right? Did you want to see a ring, or a
pendent... maybe something else?"
Ignoring her question, Jack said, "Mabeline - like the makeup?"
She was a tad perturbed that he didn't acknowledge her question. She
knew he heard it. Hiding her emotions, she politely smiled. "Yes,
that's right. But most people call me May."
Jack thought for a moment, then cocked his brow and replied, "Wait a
minute. You're May and she's April? So where's June?"
As if on cue, a third stunningly-gorgeous woman poked out from the back
room holding what looked like a silver prom dress.
"May, didn't that girl need this before three-thirty?" the woman
motioned to the clock on the back wall, not noticing Jack, nor caring
that she was interrupting a potential sale. May turned to her.
"Right, June. But next Thursday; not today." She turned back to Jack
and caught his expression. It was one of surprise.
"Yes, you heard me right... JUNE." Her tone was filled with a touch of
sarcasm. "Apparently our mother thought it would be 'cute' to name us
after the months of the calendar. FYI - her name was Augusta." She
shook her head with just a hint of a smile.
Jack had guessed it, even though he was only kidding. There was indeed
a June. Weird. And she was just as attractive as her sisters, if not
more so. Not as short as April, nor as tall as May, June was simply
perfect. She had a bit more girth to her, but she could never be
considered fat. In fact, she was built just the way Jack preferred his
women - sensual and voluptuous. She reminded him of Marilyn Monroe.
June had shoulder-length golden-blonde hair, bright blue eyes and full
lips. Her buxom breasts peered out from behind a stylish navy-blue suit
jacket. Tight matching slacks hugged her rounded bottom. She was a
goddess.
"So what are you were looking for again?" asked May. Her question
pulled Jack's stare from June's body.
"Oh. Right. Do you have any emerald earrings? Something long and
dangly?"
"No, I don't think we have anything like that. Our jewelry selection is
kind of small. But I'm sure I can get it on a custom basis. Could you
come back in a day or two?" May sensed the urgency in his voice, but
thought it polite to offer anyway.
"No, I kinda needed them today. But this is a great shop. I'll have to
bring Lisa by." And Jack meant that. Normally he hated shopping with
his wife, but she could try on clothes while he secretly pined over
April, May and June - especially June.
Jack turned to leave, but then stopped. He looked in April's direction.
She was still setting up her display of summer dresses, singing a song
to herself to help her track the inventory. Jack thought it was a bit
strange, but kind of cute.
"Excuse me again."
April stopped singing and looked up.
"I'm curious," said Jack. "Why is this place called the 'Bondage'
Boutique?"
April giggled. "Oh, that. 'Bondag?' is actually our last name." (She
pronounced it "bon-da-shay"). "Since the three of us were opening the
store together, we thought it would be appropriate. None of us really
thought about how it would look on the sign..." She blushed.
"Oh, that explains it," Jack chuckled. "Do you ever get people in here
looking for sex toys or whips - things like that?"
April looked down and smiled shyly. "Uh-huh. More often than we'd care
to admit." She snickered. Then lifted her gaze and longingly stared up
into Jack's eyes. "Are you into that sort of thing?"
For the forth time today, Jack was utterly shocked. Was this petite
supermodel hitting on him? And did she share his fetish? Not sure how
to answer, Jack just stared blankly.
"You are, aren't you?" she guessed.
Jack nodded ever so slightly. Then he began to leave, too embarrassed
to continue the conversation. She touched his arm. "Don't go."
Jack froze.
"Don't go," she repeated. "Stay... and play. We can play together...
and have some fun." She pleaded with her eyes. "You do like to play,
don't you?"
Jack nodded and began to smile. April smiled back.
"Good."
She beckoned him with a finger as she dropped what she was doing and
turned toward the rear of the store. Her hips swung with a sexy little
gait. Jack was becoming erect. He followed her like a stray puppy.
She nodded at May as she passed through the same door that June had
poked out of before. The sign over the door said ALTERATIONS. May
flashed him a wink and a smile as he headed through the doorway. As the
door closed behind him, he heard May call out, "Play nice, April. Don't
make him cry... too much."
---
Jack assumed this room doubled as both the warehouse and the alteration
room. There were clothes and boxes everywhere, as well as a sewing
station and a broken mannequin. The sewing machine itself was old and
covered with dust balls. Jack wondered how these women made their
alterations, because they certainly weren't using that machine. He
hoped he'd see June again, but she was nowhere to be found. He wondered
if she might join in the fun. That would be too good to be true. Hell,
it was already too good to be true.
They continued through a second door, which led down a winding
staircase to the building's cellar. The room was large, damp and dark.
It was mostly empty, except for a few boxes in the back. All of the
stock must be kept in the room above, thought Jack. It was odd. Why
waste all this extra space?
He assumed April hit some sort of switch, because dozens of candles
hanging from three ornate chandeliers instantly ignited in the center
of the room. It startled Jack. He wondered how they were rigged to a
switch. Were they gas lit? Electric? Either way, they didn't add too
much light the room. April moved off to a far corner and seemed to
disappear into the darkness. Jack paused to ponder his unbelievable
luck.
---
The sound of steel-heeled shoes sent echoes across the floor. April's
pale yellow jacket and matching skirt were replaced with a black
leather bustier, fishnet stockings, and long studded boots. She had a
gag in her left hand and a spool of duct tape in her right. Jack was
fully aroused. He looked around, purposefully avoiding eye contact with
her. If she was a true dominatrix, she'd see it as a sign of respect.
He shouldn't look upon her until she instructed him to do so.
He stood in the middle of the basement where the light was strongest.
The room was unfinished. Watermarks could be seen in several spots on
the cement floor. Tiny icicle-shaped stalactites dripped from the pipes
above, which wove a crisscross pattern around the ceiling. The walls
were exposed, composed of massive cinder blocks. But the one on Jack's
right was padded with large mirror panels. It reminded him of a dance
studio. The glass was dull and covered in dirt. Rust marks dotted the
corners of each panel.
April caressed his face with her leather gag. "So you like to play
games, right?"
"Oh, yeah." He nodded intently, still looking away.
"Good. Look at me." Jack eagerly did so. "I like to play games too."
She smiled that sweet smile of hers.
"Here are the rules. There are only three - memorize them." Jack
listened intently. "Number one: I MAKE the rules." She playfully
laughed. Jack laughed along. "Number two: You'll do as you're told.
Number three: I always win. Understood?"
"Definitely," he nodded again.
"Then let's begin." April stared up at him. "Strip."
Jack was caught a bit off guard by her candor and didn't move.
"Don't be shy, buddy-boy." April reassured him. But her tone changed an
instant later as she yelled "STRIP, you PIG FUCKER!"
Wow, she's kind of nuts, Jack thought as he began to remove his
clothes. As he unbuttoned his shirt, April pushed the gag ball into his
mouth and fastened it tightly around his head. Jack did not struggle. A
touch of fear gripped him and that only added to his excitement.
Once Jack was naked, April used the tape to bind his ankles together.
Metal shackles suspended by a chain dropped from a compartment within
the ceiling above. She forcefully grabbed his hands and placed them
within the cuffs. They locked. April then began to walk slowly around
him, smiling at her handy work.
"So, you like to play?" Jack didn't answer. "Well, I like to play too!
And we're going to have fun, fun, fun!" She began to bounce around him.
"But remember, we play by MY rules." She looked up into his eyes. "Got
that... Jack?"
How did she know his name? He had made a point not to mention it. Or
was she simply using 'Jack' as an expression. He figured that must be
it.
"Of course we know you're name, Jack!" June shouted as she walked
toward her sister from out of the shadows. She was wearing a skin-tight
blue latex outfit that accentuated her every curve. It was clear to
Jack that she must have worked out regularly. Her muscles were well
defined and she looked fairly strong. If she was ten inches taller,
she'd be an Amazon.
She slinked toward April. Her lips pressed against her little sister's
in a lurid sort of wet kiss that was never intended for family members.
They were definitely into some kinky shit. Jack's arousal increased.
"Mmmmm..." April moaned. The kiss ended.
"So April, my darling, what are we gonna do with this... this... MAN?"
June wore a look of repulsion on her face. She spit on him. His
erection pulsated.
April thought for a moment. "I know! Let's make this MAN a little less
threatening."
April walked off, her heals tip-tapping away. She rummaged through a
box in the distance. "We can play dress-up! And we can start with this
pretty little white dress!" She returned holding a frilly sun dress,
clearly designed for a more petite figure. Jack was not really into
transvestitism, but he enjoyed pleasing his mistress.
June pondered. "I'm all for robbing this MAN of his MANhood, but he'll
never fit into THAT thing."
April began to pout.
"Gee, I guess you're right, sis. We'll have to make some...
alterations." She smiled with an evil grin and June gave her a nod. And
with that nod, Jack's sense of reality was about to be turned upside-
down.
April stared intently at her target. Her eyes grew wide and her face
turned to insanity in the candlelight. She began to chant with strange
words that sounded like a language that had been dead for millennia.
Her monotone voice rang out:
"Demarista vet Riapaldi; Falastronis nu Gravis; Kran Hida nues Gravis!"
Wind seemed to gust from nowhere. Candles flickered. As she repeated
her ancient words, her nostrils flared. Her eyes glowed with a bright
yellow hue. At the same instance, Jack felt sharp bolts of pain course
through his torso. The light in her eyes brightened, casting dancing
shadows around the room. The pain spread throughout his body. It was
much worse than any torture he'd received from his previous mistresses.
His pulse raced. Sweat poured from his head. His eyes stung with salt.
His erection began to stutter. He tried to scream, but he couldn't make
a peep. He passed out.
---
June guffawed in hysterics. "Nicely done, April!" she complimented.
April was still catching her breath. "I agree...(pant) he'll be much
more fun...(pant) this way."
Jack's eyes began to open. He was dizzy. Everything felt a little off.
His balance. His vision. He thought he might even puke, which would be
extremely uncomfortable with a gag in his mouth. The gag itself felt
larger. His hands slipped out of their bindings. He pulled them toward
his side and looked to April, who was standing on a stool. Or at least
he thought she was. He stared into her eyes.
"What do you think, Jack?" April teased, still breathing a bit heavy.
"You should have no trouble fitting into this now!" She held up the
dress and laughed. Jack didn't know what she meant.
June grabbed the dress from April and began to force it over Jack's
head. He felt weak. He assumed it was caused by the strange pain he
experienced just moments ago. He put up no struggle. The dress slid
onto his body with ease. Jack knew it had to be a larger version of the
same dress. April removed the gag from Jack's mouth. He immediately
tried to speak.
"What... what did you do to me?" Jack struggled to ask.
June slapped him across the face. "SILENCE!" she yelled. "Speak when
spoken to, you little fuck."
Jack slowly nodded.
April began to apply lipstick to Jack's face. "It's just a game, Jack.
Play along. Have fun with it! I just know we're going to have fun with
you!" she giggled.
June cocked her head and looked down at Jack. Was she standing on
something too? Or was he standing in a hole. Jack glanced at the floor.
There was no hole.
"You want to know what April did, huh shit-for-brains?" June asked.
"Well, move your bony ass over there and take a look." June pointed to
the mirror-paneled wall.
Jack moved slowly, his feet still bound with tape. He began to hop as
April took him by the hand, walking at his side. He felt like he was
caught in a dream. April seemed to be as tall as he was in her high
heals. He felt sick. As he approached the mirror, that feeling
intensified.
Jack saw someone else staring back at him. It looked like him, but this
man was quite a bit shorter and slimmer. Maybe 5'4" or 5'5". June was
at least three inches taller than he was. His face was the same, only
covered in lipstick. And his body was scrawny and devoid of any
musculature. That might explain the weakness, he thought. He looked
like an adolescent boy... or girl, considering how he was dressed. He
wanted to scream, but tried not to panic.
"This is a trick, right?" Jack asked with uncertainty.
April answered. "What's wrong, Jack? You like my body, right?"
Jack said nothing. He was confused by the question.
April asked again, "Right?"
"Yeah, but-"
April interrupted, "Well, I made your body more like mine. See?!" She
smiled at him in the mirror, pressing her face cheek-to-cheek with his
own.
"But how did you do this? Is it a trick... with the mirror?"
"It's no trick, Jackie-boy." June slapped his ass, and then quoted
something she remembered from a childhood comic-magician. "Fuck you!
IT'S MAGIC!" Both sisters laughed.
Jack was not amused. His erection was almost entirely gone. "But how?"
he asked.
"Oh, Jackie-poh," April purred, "You're such silly boy. I used a bit of
my pizzazz to give you a better figure. That's all!"
"But magic isn't real..." Jack's voice was uneasy. He began to tremble.
Both sisters looked at one another, smiled and broke into a fit of
laughter.
"If it's not real, fucknut, then why do you look like an eunuch?" June
continued to laugh. April licked him on his cheek.
"I like the new you, Jack! I'm guessing you're about a size four. I'm a
size four... we can be twins! We can totally dress alike!" April turned
to June and gave her a nod.
June smiled at her sister and began to chant:
"Gentry il Luna Det Mandir; Gentry il Nagah Findaka!"
Her eyes grew wide. Blue light pierced her pupils and bathed the room
with an eerie tint. A gust of wind, a flash of light and an electrical
ZAP completed the show.
Jack looked in the mirror and couldn't believe his eyes. April yelled
excitedly, "OH MY GOD! Look at us!"
She and Jack were both wearing 50's style pink poodle skirts, bobby
socks and tight white sweaters. Both of their hair was done up in a
high ponytail wrapped in a large pink bow. Each had makeup applied;
bright red lipstick, gray eye shadow, and cherry rouge. While his
Adam's apple was still apparent, Jack thought he was really starting to
look like a woman. It freaked him out. He was not aroused.
Jack moved his hand to feel his privates through the skirt. They were
there, but felt less prominent. His penis was soft to the touch. He
then moved his right hand to feel his flaxen hair as his reflection did
the same. It was a wig. He tugged it slightly out of place. June yelled
at him.
"HEY! Don't you ruin my creative vision!" June smacked him in the back
of his head and the wig fell off. Her jaw dropped.
"LOOK WHAT YOU DID, you COCKSUCKER!" she yelled as she picked the wig
up off the floor. "Sis, he clearly doesn't want to wear what I made for
him. So if you want to have matching hairstyles, do your thing." June
commanded.
"Oh, it would be my pleasure."
April smiled in anticipation. She began to chant, only a few words this
time, and her eyes blazed again with that unearthly yellow glow. A
slight breeze chilled past. Jack's scalp began to sting. Pin pricks. It
felt like pin pricks on his skin. He suddenly thought of Pinhead, that
villain from a 1980's horror flick. His hair fell away. But it wasn't
just falling out; it was being pushed out. Pushed out by more hair.
Bleached blonde hair began to drape Jack's head, growing quickly and
spilling down his back. April began to pant, and nodded approvingly at
her creation.
"There...(pant) Now finish it." She looked at June.
June's eyes glinted with blue light as she spoke another strange
incantation. Right before his eyes, Jack could see his new hair being
styled into a ponytail. A large pink ribbon appeared out of nowhere and
seemed to tie a bow with invisible hands. Jack was amazed and disturbed
at the same time.
When June was finished, Jack's own hair took on the appearance of the
wig that had fallen from his head just minutes before. April clapped,
congratulating her sister.
"BRAVO!" she exclaimed.
"You didn't do so bad yourself, sis," praised June. April took a curtsy
then twirled around Jack.
"See, Jack?" she asked. "Aren't we just soooo cute! Except..."
April paused and contemplated.
"What is it, April?" asked June with a smile, knowing full well what
was coming.
"Well, it's just that Jack is taller than me. And we're supposed to be
twins. But I know how to fix that..." She began her strange words:
"Enubri; Vashil nu Songhari..."
April's chanting continued and her eyes filled with the same yellow
radiance as before. Sharp pains returned to Jack's limbs and
midsection. It burned as he clenched his jaw. He felt himself contort
and he started to scream.
But as quick as the pain came, it subsided. Jack felt hot and queasy,
but the pain was gone. April was again catching her breath, but she
seemed quite pleased with his transformation.
"Much... better," April panted.
"Wow," June said as she looked down at Jack. "He's gotta be less than
5' tall."
"I was shooting for 4'11"," said April with a satisfied smirk on her
face. She looked down at Jack, who just barely came up to her eyes,
"Like I said, Jack. I always win. And now I'm taller than you are!"
Jack concluded that April was definitely not playing with a full deck.
Her games were twisted. And she had powers that she lacked the
responsibility to use. But unbeknownst to Jack, April sensed his
thoughts. She hated being thought of as crazy. She would have her
revenge... oh yes.
Jack felt small before, but now he really felt miniscule. He looked
ridiculous with his teenybopper hair and poodle skirt. He began to
fidget. His scalp itched. His feet were tired. He wanted to sit down
and think. As if sensing his discomfort, June fished out a folding
chair from the back of the room and presented it to Jack.
"Sit, squirt. Stay a while," she commanded. Jack thought he'd try for
an out and decided to test the waters.
"Actually, I need to get going," he calmly said.
April looked disappointed. "What, you don't want to stay and play some
more, Jackie-poh? But we're just getting started..."
"Well, I do," Jack lied, "but I have my anniversary dinner tonight and
I still have to find those earrings for my wife." That part was true.
"Oh, but I thought they were for a friend?" April questioned.
"He lied, April," June stated in a matter-of-fact tone. "Just like the
lying dog he is. You should turn him into a dog. Make him look like the
poodle on his skirt." Jack's stomach turned.
"No. I'm not a big fan of dogs." April looked at June with a half-
glare. "You know that, June. But why not give him those earrings he
wants. Then he can stay!"
June sighed in disgust and began to concentrate. She spoke a few
strange syllables and her eyes glowed blue again. Jack felt small
weights beginning to tug at his earlobes. From out of nowhere, a pair
of dangling emerald earrings appeared, framing his awe-struck face.
They were exactly what he was looking for. Of course, he thought they'd
look better on his wife. His wife. That thought was kind of funny. If
Lisa could see him now...
"YAY!" April sang, "Now you can stay and play!"
"But I have to get ready for my dinner. Really."
"So you're saying you want to end our game, Jack?" April huffed.
"That's not very nice, Mr. Man."
"Well, I have to go."
"Then go," April pouted, "No one's keeping you here." She furnished a
pair of fabric shears from her boot and removed the duct tape from his
ankles. "Leave," she ordered.
Jack stood up, again surprised by his extreme lack of height. He knew
he couldn't leave looking like this.
"Can't you return me to normal?" Jack pleaded.
June glared down at him and teased, "You didn't say the magic word,
dickless."
Without hesitation Jack responded, "Please."
April mockingly began to chant, "Pleeeeaase; Pleeeeaase," then paused.
"Sorry, Jackie-poh. That word isn't working. Guess you're stuck like
that." She began to laugh.
Jack didn't know what to do. He looked at June with desperation. He
arched his neck, attempting to make eye contact. "Um... can you-"
June interrupted, "I hope you're not expecting to curie favor with me,
bucko." June scolded, "You're a MAN and if there is one thing I can't
stand, it's a man - especially a little weasel like you."
"Oh, we can fix that!" April mischievously interjected. Her eyes began
to glow as she chanted more of her archaic gibberish. Bolts of pain
returned to Jack's body. He felt thousands of tiny needles prodding his
skin. His throat started to close. His breathing became difficult. His
eyes squinted and his arms began to shake as he dropped to his knees.
His pelvis ached and his chest throbbed. In less than a minute, it was
over.
Jack collapsed to the cement. It was cold to the touch. He felt a chill
in his shoulders. He breathed in and out and began to cough. He heard
April panting from exhaustion in the background. June walked over to
him and started to poke him in the side with her pointy boot.
"Get up," she said with force. "Get up, you little bitch."
Still coughing, Jack started to push himself up. He noticed his hands.
He saw dainty fingers and long, manicured nails. That gave him a pretty
good indication of what April had done to him. He moved a little
faster, crawling toward the mirror, dreading what he thought he'd find.
He touched the dirty glass, attempting to gain some leverage to pull
himself up. His body reverberated with a strange tingle. He caught
sight of his face. Sweat glistened on his forehead and eye makeup ran
down his cheeks. It wasn't his face. He looked more like the sister he
never had than he did like himself. High cheekbones and a fair
complexion. No Adam's apple. The emerald earrings batted at his cheeks.
He continued to rise, examining his new body. He felt nauseous.
The woman in the mirror was pretty, albeit very short. She had delicate
features and small, firm breasts that accentuated her diminutive form.
She looked like something out of a 1950's sitcom. She began to cry.
Jack was shocked to hear a woman's sobs emanate from his own vocal
chords. Knowing that it was his voice only made him cry harder.
"Oh, stop your blubbering, you little wench." June walked over to him
and flicked him in the ear. "C'mon, big girls don't cry." And with that
comment, April began to sing the old Frankie Valli tune from across the
room. She hurried over to them to admire her work.
"What's wrong, Jackie?" She stared at him with a frown. "You look so
much better now. No offense, but before you kind of looked like a freak
- a tiny man wearing a poodle skirt and ladies sweater. Now at least
you look normal... but I think we both could use a change of clothes.
June?"
After a brief moment of silence, blue light filled the room once more.
A gust of wind blew out a candle and a flash of light blinded Jack's
eyes. After seeing spots for a moment, his vision returned. April was
now wearing a sexy nurse's uniform. Peering into the mirror, Jack found
himself wearing what appeared to be a hot-pink hospital gown dotted
with small white flowers. Costumes, Jack thought. This is all part of
their game. He turned to June.
June was again dressed in her navy-blue sales floor attire, her breasts
ready to spill out of her jacket. Jack wondered why someone with the
ability to fabricate clothing out of thin air couldn't create a better
fitting jacket.
"Oh, I COULD make a roomier jacket. I just choose not to," June
defended, as if hearing Jack's thoughts. She looked angry.
"That reminds me..." she continued, "When you first saw me, I sensed
that you wanted to bury your face in these." June gestured at her
breasts. "Well maybe you won't feel that way now that you have a set of
your own."
As June walked toward the staircase, April reminded her, "She's gonna
need some clothes. I'm thinking something in a size zero. She's
certainly too small for anything bigger than a size two!" She smirked.
She knew her words were making Jack feel worse and that gave her a real
high.
June chuckled. "I'll return soon. May's probably having a conniption up
there," she said. "I might even bring a few gifts back for the
pipsqueak. And knowing you the way I do, April, I'll make sure to get
something with ample room in the chest."
"No," Jack muttered under his breath.
"YAY! My first patient!" April cheered exuberantly. "So I understand
that you were a boob-man in a former life, Jackie?" She playfully
jabbed him in the arm.
Jack didn't answer. He didn't have to. April was going to do it no
matter what he said. She carefully removed his hospital gown.
"Oh, a shy girl. Well, I know you were. And in a minute, you're gonna
have a great big pair of your very own!" April paused. "I always wanted
to be a plastic surgeon," she giggled. "So are you ready for your
breast augmentation, Jackie?"
No answer.
April took a large injection tube out of her pocket. It was empty. She
held it to his left breast and positioned it as though she was going to
inject it full of something.
"Don't be nervous. This won't hurt a bit..." She began to chant. Again,
her eyes filled with yellow light.
There was less pain this time as his small left breast suddenly
expanded. It continued to grow until it seemed much too big for his
tiny frame. It did appear as though air was being injected into his
boob from the tube. But it was just an illusion - the injector was just
a prop for her cruel little game.
Then April moved the tube to his right breast and repeated her chant.
The right breast developed to roughly the same size as the left. Jack
couldn't believe the weight on his chest.
"Look! Yours are even bigger than mine." She cupped her right breast
and moaned. "They're a double-C, Jackie." She explained. "They just
seem big because you're such a little thing. Heck, you'd probably blow
away in a strong breeze!" she joked.
Without strong lumbar muscles, Jack's back began to ache. He needed
some support. He cupped his generous breasts and held them up with all
the arm strength he could muster. Out of curiosity and old habit, he
rubbed his fingers along his nipples. They became stiff almost
instantly. The sensation was pleasant, but under the circumstances his
arousal was limited. He wanted to go home.
---
About an hour later, June returned with three outfits on hangers and a
bag of under garments.
"So, how's our little hoebag doing?" June asked, noticing her sister's
latest modifications. "Wow! They're just lovely, April! She's gonna
look nice and ripe in a tight tube top."
Jacks boobs were the most obvious alteration, but April had made other
minor changes. His eyes were now a gorgeous sky-blue. His lips were
larger and more kissable. And in fact, April had been kissing them
quite a bit, as evidenced by the red lipstick smeared around her own
two lips. And the size of his labia had been increased. It would be
easy to see his womanhood from behind a tight pair of slacks. It would
be enough to make most men hard.
June approached him.
"We need to find out which outfit Jackie wants to wear. Maybe we ought
to ask her what type of pig she wants to attract?"
"Absolutely," April replied. "I think she's such a cutie now! So
Jackie, what kind of man do you want to date?"
Jack didn't answer.
June threatened, "You WILL answer, BITCH! Now what kind of a guy do you
want fondling those big titties of yours?!"
Jack answered honestly. "None," his voice squeaked.
April looked frustrated
"After all my hard work, making you into this beautiful little lady,"
she pointed to the mirror. "Fine. Have it your way."
April stared at Jack in dismay. Blinding yellow light pierced the
darkness from behind her fanatical eyes. The wind howled. He gasped for
air as his body began to mutate once more. It was excruciating. He
passed out for a second time.
---
When he awoke, he felt tired and strange. He was on the floor, propped
up against the mirrored wall. Everything was blurry, but he could make
out basic shapes. His breasts had grown much larger. He began to feel
his body with his hands. His hands themselves felt odd. They were
swollen. He felt down past his enormous breasts and noticed his stomach
sticking out. Moving was a struggle. His breathing was labored.
"Here, you little troll," April scowled. "You'll need these." She
placed a set of large-rimmed round glasses on his face. His world came
into focus. He looked in the mirror and gasped.
He had retained his short stature, but his weight was probably over 300
pounds. His breasts were large and sagged low against his bulging
belly. The flab of his arms swung as he moved. Rolls of fat ballooned
at his sides. Stretch marks could be seen all along his midsection.
Large brown moles spotted his body. He was hideous.
He looked at his fat face. He had no chin to speak of; his neck seemed
to continue to his jaw line in a single swell. Acne scars dotted his
skin and fresh, puss-filled pimples coated his face. His hair was
short, thin and greasy. His nose was bent and grotesque. And his mouth
was filled with yellowing, neglected teeth. He couldn't even close it
properly. A small stream of spittle hung from his lower lip. He began
to sob.
"No man will ever be attracted to you, now!" April taunted.
"No woman either," June chuckled. "Unless you care to answer the
question again, fat-ass. What type of man you want to attract? This is
the last time I'll ask."
Jack wiped his tears away with his chubby fingers. It took a great deal
of effort to raise his arm.
"I don't know," Jack answered. His voice sounded gruff and he spoke
with a lisp. "Thumone like me, I guess. The way I uthed to look."
"Fair enough," June said. "Hear that, April? The way he USED to look."
"We can arrange that." April focused on Jack.
The sisters searched his mind. When they found what they were looking
for, they began to chant in unison. Each woman recited different words.
Blinding light flowed from their eyes; blue from June's and yellow from
April's. Jack could feel himself transforming into something else. The
weight began to melt away from his body. Sweat oozed from his pores. He
gurgled in agony.
His limbs started to grow longer and thinner, but then started to
shrink. He clenched his eyes as tears and sweat mixed and dripped from
his face. He fell backwards and slid down the mirror to the floor,
writhing in pain. His naked body became shrouded in some sort of cloth
that slowly took the shape of pants and a shirt. White sneakers
appeared on his tiny feet. Then everything stopped.
He slowly rose to his feet, trying to shake off the pain. He was thin,
which was a relief, but much smaller than he had been before. Did they
make him a midget? He wanted to see what they had done to him. He
turned around and faced the mirror. He opened his mouth in
astonishment.
He was a little girl, of perhaps eight or nine. He was wearing a pair
of pink pants and a purple Minnie Mouse tee shirt. His face was
familiar, but he couldn't quite place it.
"Awww... Jackie!" April said in motherly tone, "you look so darling!"
April now looked much bigger to Jack. He was as tall as her bust line.
Everything in the room looked bigger.
"Or should we call him Holly?" June questioned.
Then it occurred to him who's face he now possessed. He had been
transformed into Holly Michaels, the first girl he ever had a crush on.
And that was when he was seven years old.
"That's right, Jackie! You wanted to attract someone like yourself -
how you used to be. Well, welcome back to the second grade!" June
taunted.
"What time is it?" Jack asked. Was that really his voice? He wondered
if Lisa might phone the police soon. She'd know he'd never miss their
anniversary.
April kneeled down next to Jack.
"Here, look at my watch, honey," she said. "When the big hand is on the
twelve, it will be six o'clock." She was mocking him.
"I need to go," he pleaded. "Please let me go!"
June commented, "She's such a whiny little brat now, 'I need to go!
Please let me go!'" she mimicked. "It's pathetic."
"Oh, be nice to her, Aunt June," April argued. "She probably just has
some cartoons she wants to watch. Maybe the Powder Puff Girls are on at
six."
Jack was getting very tired of this game. He was ready to leave. He
even considered running off in his current state. He just wanted to get
away. He was done being their plaything. The more he thought about it,
the more he realized that he ought to just escape. Maybe Lisa could
help him. He bolted for the stairs. June and April simply mocked him as
he ran.
"Hey, young lady!" June yelled, "Children should not be running in
doors!" She laughed. April added, "Yeah, Jackie! You're libel to get
hurt!"
Jack raced up the staircase. He had quite a bit of energy in his new
form, and moved quickly. But the stairs were larger than he was used to
and he tripped and stumbled before reaching the top. He fell backward
and began to scream as he tumbled to the bottom.
"Oh my God!" April exclaimed as she ran to assist Jack. June
reluctantly followed, stating, "See, little girls should NOT be running
inside."
Jack was crying, more from the sudden loss of control than from the
pain. His tiny leg was twisted beneath his bum and throbbing with pain.
He could tell that it was broken, or fractured at the very least. His
pants were warm and wet. He had lost control of his bladder as a result
of the fall. He continued to cry, feeling small and dejected. How could
he escape now?
"Fix her!" June shouted. "I am not bringing her to a hospital."
April, still wearing her nurse's uniform, reluctantly began to
concentrate. Jacks sobs diminished as the room filled with that eerie
yellow glow that he had come to hate. April mumbled more of her cryptic
words of ancient lore. Jack's leg slowly began to feel better. He stood
up. It was healed. April again needed a moment to catch her breath.
Wiping the tears away from his eyes, Jack looked up at April. She had
mended his leg. It was amazing. Her powers could be used to do so much
good in this world. He hoped he could appeal to her conscience, if she
had one.
"Thank you," Jack said. "You really are powerful, April. You could
probably save a lot of lives, if you wanted to use your powers
constructively." It felt strange speaking with the voice of a child.
April looked pensive and distant for a moment. Jack hoped his words had
struck a nerve. He thought that hearing the pleas of an innocent little
girl might have done just that. But then her expression soured. She
looked upset - like she was on the verge of tears. June just watched,
interested to see how the coming moments would unfold.
"You don't know me," April spoke softly. She raised her voice and
repeated, "You don't know me at all, Jack." She looked angry. She
scowled as she continued, "I know what I can and can't do with my
powers. And I will not be lectured by some child. And that's all you
are now, Jack. You're a child. And you're lucky to be that. I could
turn you into a rat or a worm if I wanted to..."
Jack shuddered. "But why? Why use such great powers for such cruelty?"
She thought for a moment. Then said, in a shaky voice, "Because I can.
That's why. And you can't stop me." She began to walk over to him. "I'm
done with our game. You ruined it, Jack, and I'm done."
She grabbed him by the wrist and quickly marched him up the spiral
stairs. Jack tried to resist, not knowing what she might do to him, but
he lacked the strength. She paused when they entered the stockroom.
Jack squinted under the bright light from the fluorescents overhead.
She held his wrist tightly, digging her nails into his flesh. He
struggled, wincing in pain.
"MAY!" April yelled. "May, come back here for a minute."
June brushed past them. "I'll watch the shop and lock up," she said.
She headed toward the entrance to the sales floor.
A moment after June left the room, May walked in. She towered over
Jack, but that wasn't very surprising - everything towered over him
now. He was still getting used to his child-like perspective.
"All the customers are gone." May assured her sister. "We're alone now.
Tell me hat happened."
"Didn't you see?" questioned April.
"Yes. I was watching on-and-off on the monitor. It looked like she
tripped. I'm glad you got her all fixed up."
"I shouldn't have. She's a fresh little bitch. She ought to have her
mouth washed out with soap." April began to cry. Her grip on Jack's
forearm loosened and he was able to break free. His wrist was bleeding.
He considered running off, but was worried about what April might do to
him if he did.
May hugged her sister. "It's okay, April. Don't let this guy get to
you-"
April angrily cut her off. "SHE'S A GIRL NOW, MAY! Not a guy! She's a
stupid little girl! She'll never be a man again!" she screamed. Jack
swallowed hard. What did he say to upset her? April continued to sob.
May consoled her.
"Exactly, April. She's a little girl. She can't hurt you."
"Make her go away!" April demanded. "Make her into a TRUE little girl
and call an ORPHANAGE!" she yelled. Tears continued to stream down her
cheeks. Jack didn't like what he was hearing. He thought he ought to
make his escape while she was distracted, but knew he'd have to get
past June. And if the front door was locked...
"You know I hate doing that, April," May said.
"You're my sister!" April began to work up a guilt trip. "My own sister
can't even make me feel better?!"
"You know that I would, April, but I-"
"Well you better do something, May! Because I'm done with her. The game
is over! She can stay that way, for all I care! She thinks I'm crazy!?"
She turned to Jack and stared at him with venom in her eyes. "We'll
who's crazy now, bitch!" Jack stepped away from her and fell backward
onto a corrugated box. His pants were still wet from his earlier loss
of bladder control.
May sighed. "Look, why don't you go help June clean up for the night?
I'll take care of Jack."
"Fine." April walked off in a huff.
May stooped down and got on one knee to look Jack in the eye. "Don't
worry," she said calmly, "I won't bite. I promise." She realized Jack
wasn't really a child, but her motherly instincts seemed to take over.
And it was clear that Jack was scared.
"Please change me back to normal," Jack begged. He thought he was going
to cry again. He wondered if he shouldn't hold back the tears. They
might actually help him appeal to May's emotions.
"I wish I could, Jack," May stated, "but that's not where my gift
lies." Jack could no longer hold back his tears. "There, there, honey.
It'll be okay, I promise." May hugged him. It made him feel a little
better, but only a little.
"Can't you convince April to change her mind?" Jack asked in a shaky
voice.
"I'm sorry, Jack. I can't. She won't listen to me. She's extremely
stubborn, and frankly, I don't want her to change you into something
worse."
Jack continued to cry, shocked that he might truly be stuck as a clone
of little Holly Michaels. The thought made him sick. The last time he
saw Holly was in the eighth grade, before she moved away. The cute face
he had now would eventually endure a tough battle with teenage acne. He
began to cry even harder.
"Calm down. Shhhhh. I can help you, Jack... if you'll accept my help."
Jack sniffled, wiping his nose with his sleeve. He noticed a few
droplets of blood from his injured wrist had stained the fabric.
"You see, all three of us were born with a gift. We're all empathic. Do
you know what that means?" She couldn't help but treat him like a
child. He supposed he'd have to start getting used to that.
"Yes," he answered.
"Good. April, June and I can each sense the thoughts of other people.
However, we have trouble reading each other, unless we consciously open
our minds and allow them to be probed. That's both a blessing and a
curse. While I'm glad that my sisters can't get to my thoughts unless I
let them, I'd sure love to get into their heads sometimes. It would
certainly help me to curb their irreverent behavior."
She smirked. Jack offered a weak smile in return. He liked May. She
seemed kind and compassionate - the antithesis of her two sisters.
"We tend to be able to read regular people more clearly, especially
when their thoughts are backed by strong emotions." Jack wiped his face
with his sleeve for a second time. His tiny nose was raw and red. He
sniffled.
May continued, "Several years ago, June heard the thoughts of one of
her college professors. He was excited and easy to read. He had
stumbled upon something big in his research - some kind of ancient
scriptures dating back to the Egyptian empire, although these weren't
Egyptian writings. The fact that the leaflets survived for as long as
they did was a mystery in and of itself. And June sensed incredible
power within these scriptures. She immediately told April. The two of
them broke into the campus lab where the ancient texts were being
studied. They stole them and brought them back to their apartment. When
I dropped in for a visit, they showed me what they'd done, even though
they knew I wouldn't approve."
She paused and took a deep breath.
"Well, I sensed what they sensed. Those texts held vast power. But it
would take people with a special mind, like my sisters and I, to unlock
their secrets. And indeed, it took the power of all three of us to
crack the ancient code. And I've regretted it ever since."
"Why?" Jack asked.
May chuckled, "Look at yourself, Jack. You're stuck like this, but
you're not the first... and you won't be the last either." Jack's heart
sank.
"We unlocked something from within those pages. Something that was
waiting... waiting for empathic beings like the three of us to come
along and release it. We each inherited a power that we could use upon
command by reciting those ancient words. You've seen what my sisters
can do."
Jack nodded.
May further explained, "April can alter people's physical appearances
in almost any way she chooses. She can make them older or younger, male
or female, change their height and weight, or alter their culture and
nationality; she can even turn people into animals. She is extremely
powerful."
Jack shook his head in agreement.
"June can alter inanimate objects and conjure things out of thin air.
And that's a big help for replenishing our inventory," May laughed.
"And my gift..."
Jack listed closely.
"My gift allows me to alter people's minds, changing their memories and
even their personality. I can do that with you, Jack. So you at least
feel comfortable in your new skin."
"But can't you use your powers to make April want to change me back to
normal?" Jack asked with a glimmer of hope.
"Much like our empathic limitations, we can't force changes on each
other unless the person is receptive to the change. For June, it really
isn't an issue, but for April and I... well..." she trailed off and
sighed. Jack fidgeted on his box.
"Believe me, Jack," she continued, "I've tried. April has always been a
bit unstable. And June is just... just angry at the world, especially
men."
"Yeah, I've noticed."
"And for better or for worse, April and I can't seem to use our powers
on ourselves either. April's tried to make physical changes to herself.
She hates being so short. It really bothers her that she can change
everyone else, but not herself. It bothers me too at times. I have
parts of my personality that I'm not proud of. But I have to work on
them the old-fashioned way."
Jack asked, "But how can you let your sisters get away with this? You
seem like you actually care about people."
May stared off and shook her head.
"I can't control them, Jack. They're my sisters and despite their
flaws, I still love them. Besides, they trust me. They look up to me.
I'm their big sister." She smiled. Jack yawned, feeling a little
sleepy.
She continued, "I try to keep them in line as much as I can. I employ
them here, and that allows me to keep an eye on them. For the most
part, they use their powers for innocent fun. The name of our boutique
brings in people like you... people who are curious; people who provide
them with some entertainment and keep them busy. It keeps them from
causing any serious trouble."
"This is pretty serious, if you ask me," Jack observed.
"You're actually a rare case, Jack. They usually grow bored with their
playmates and release them within a few hours. April changes them back
to their normal form, June restores their clothing, and I alter their
memory, so no one goes running off to the media."
May stopped and looked away with vacant eyes.
"But sometimes... sometimes April just gets vindictive. Angry. She
takes out her frustration on her victims and ruins their lives. Like in
your case, Jack. What exactly did you say that set her off?"
Jack thought for a moment.
"Well, she healed my leg. So I just suggested that she might use her
powers for good, rather than sadistic purposes."
May looked down and shook her head with a hint of sadness on her face.
"At one time, Jack, she tried to use her powers for good. She wanted to
heal people, just as she fixed your leg. About six years ago, she went
public with her powers to the administrator of the VA hospital
downtown. She assumed that she might be able to do the most good there.
June and I thought it was a bad idea from the start. Well, it was.
Somehow a phone call was made and the government got involved. They
drugged her without her knowledge and kidnapped her. They kept her
sedated and studied her like a lab rat. They wanted to find out what
made her tick."
Jack started to understand.
"After trying to locate her for nearly two weeks, June and I finally
rescued her. And I spent the better part of a month tracking down and
selectively erasing the memory of everyone involved." May sighed. "She
was never the same after that. She hides her pain, but it still comes
out. Like it did today with you."
"What if I apologized to her, May? I didn't know-"
"Bad idea, Jack. I've seen this before... on more than one occasion.
She's sore at you. The best thing for you to do is to stay out of her
way."
At that moment, June peered in.
"We're just about done out here. Should I call child services?" June
asked, as though she had been through this before.
May replied, "Just another minute or two, June." June returned to the
sales floor and closed the door.
"Child services? You can't be serious? I have a wife! We're supposed to
be celebrating our two year anniversary tonight!" Jack yelled. He
realized how odd those words sounded coming from a seven-year-old girl.
"I can sense how much you love her, Jack. What if I told you that I
could help you return to her. Would you trust me?"
Jack was confused. "What do you mean," he asked.
"I can send you home with Lisa rather than child services. You'll
return to the woman you love and be able to live out the rest of your
life in peace."
"But like this?"
May looked at him with tender eyes. "No, not like that. It's going to
take some convincing, but I think I can persuade April to change you.
Would you like me to try? Remember, it could backfire, but knowing my
sister, I think I can get her to compromise."
Jack sat motionless on his box. He had few options left. He decided to
trust her judgment. He nodded hesitantly.
"Good." May breathed a sigh of relief and smiled. "Sit tight for a few
minutes."
She left the room. Jack waited in silence.
---
After several minutes, May returned, followed by April and June.
"Okay, Jack - don't speak, just listen." Jack gave May a nod. "I
explained to April how sorry you were for upsetting her."
April turned away. Dried streams of eye makeup traced her cheeks.
"She has agreed to transform you so that you can go home. June will
adjust your clothing. I've called your wife and she's on her way here
to meet you."
Jack breathed a deep sigh of relief. "Thank you, April," he said. She
wouldn't look at him. "You too, June." She smiled at him, knowing he
had no idea what was coming.
Jack looked at May. "And thank you, May." She smiled at him with a
tender, apologetic expression.
"April... June... do it." May gave the order.
April began chanting once more. After a few seconds, June joined her
sister. Each of their eyes reflected beams of yellow and blue light,
respectively, which filled the room with a neon green glow. Spikes of
pain returned to Jack's tiny body. It hurt, but he didn't care. He knew
he'd be going home soon enough. He was right.
---
A half hour later, Lisa pulled up to the front of the boutique in a
silver sedan. April heard the vehicle arrive and unlocked the front
door for Jack's wife.
"Where's my husband? Where's Jack?" she asked, in a half-panic.
April said nothing and stood aside. May approached with a quick, even
gait. She extended her hand to Lisa. "Hi, you must be Lisa," she said.
"Yes, but where is Jack?" she gave May's hand a weak squeeze.
"Jack is fine. He's in our stockroom. I'll take you too him now." May
turned to lead the way. "As I said on the phone, he broke his leg, but
it's been reset. He's doing fine."
May walked toward the back of the store and entered through the door
marked ALTERATIONS. Lisa followed. She called to Jack, repeating his
name, knowing she'd feel better just hearing his voice. But his voice
never came.
As she entered the room, she saw an attractive blonde in a
sophisticated navy-blue pantsuit holding a baby girl of perhaps a year
and a half. The baby, wearing a pink sleeper, cooed and cried out,
"Mam-maaa" in a high-pitched squeal. Lisa was confused.
"I thought you said my husband was back here. Where is he!?" She was
beginning to lose her patience. May looked at her and began to
concentrate. "Relax Lisa. You're daughter is right here."
"Daughter? Wha--Aiiieeeee!!!"
Her shriek filled the room at the sight of May's eyes - they glowed
bright red. She looked like a demon at first, and then a cyborg from an
old sci-fi movie, as blinding red beams shot from her eyes. The baby
screamed as well, startled by the sound of what she thought was her
mother in pain. Lisa clamped her eye's shut as her scream faded. The
baby relaxed as well. May continued to concentrate. She said nothing.
She aimed her red shafts of light at Lisa's forehead. Both women
entered a silent trance.
---
Lisa blinked and found herself staring at a lavender sundress - one of
the one's April had put on display earlier that afternoon. Her gaze was
interrupted by the sound of a closing register. She glanced at her
watch. It was a little after seven o'clock.
"Pardon me, miss," May petitioned, "but we are getting ready to close
up. Did you want to buy something else?"
"Um, no. No, that's alright. The earrings were the only gift I could
afford to give myself today." She touched a finger to one of her
dangling emerald earrings and smiled. "Everything else is going right
to my little princess here. Isn't that right, Jackie-poh." Upon hearing
that nickname, April stifled a laugh from the behind the counter.
Lisa looked upon her daughter and beamed with pride. Jackie yawned
sleepily. May stood alongside Lisa, staring at Jackie with a loving
smile.
"She is precious," May complimented.
"Yes, when she's sleeping anyway," Lisa joked. "She's hitting that age
when she's starting to do everything Mommy doesn't want her too, isn't
that right, Jackie-babe?"
Jackie cooed.
"Well, I've kept you from closing for long enough." Lisa said with a
mildly embarrassed expression. She pushed Jackie's stroller toward the
exit. May held the door for her. She decided a test was in order.
"So where is little Jackie's father tonight? Playing poker with the
guys?" May asked.
Lisa looked a little sad.
"My husband, Jack, actually passed away a little over a year ago in a
car accident. I can remember it vividly. That's where I got this." Lisa
pointed out a scar on her arm - a scar that she didn't have a few
minutes ago.
"Oh, I see," said May. "I'm sorry for your loss."
"Yes, but at least I wasn't hurt badly and the baby was with her
grandma at the time." Lisa began to strap Jackie into a car seat inside
her minivan. The back was filled with baby items: a new crib, toys, a
playpen, a monitoring system; the works.
May inquired, "Wow, it looks like you had quite a bit of a shopping
spree today, huh?"
Lisa laughed. "Yeah, well our house was robbed not long ago - it was
strange. The thief mainly just got away with Jackie's stuff."
"Wow, that is odd," May agreed. "Probably the boyfriend of an expecting
teen who didn't have the means to buy that stuff himself."
"No matter. The insurance covered it, so all is well."
May was satisfied with her adjustments. Lisa and Jack would continue
their life as mother and daughter, never knowing their true past. And
June was even kind enough to supply plenty of baby gear and a new
minivan to get them started. Even June had her moments.
"Well, it was a pleasure helping you and your little girl today, Miss,"
said May cheerfully.
"Oh, you'll see more of us," assured Lisa as she walked around to the
driver's side. "Your store always seems to have whatever we need."
May liked to add a little memory of the boutique to her targets. It was
good for business. And it was true - with June's help, they could
"find" just about any item their customers wanted. However, her work
had only just begun. She still had plenty of other peoples' memories to
alter to suit this new reality. But she was tired. It would have to
wait until tomorrow.
The minivan began to pull away. May smiled and waved as mother and
daughter headed home to begin their new life together.
An evening breeze kissed May's face. She felt proud of herself knowing
that she righted April's wrong as best as she could. She walked back
toward the Bondag? Boutique, reading the store's slogan aloud:
"Creating the Modern Woman," she said. "Well, not today. But in about
twenty years, I have no doubt." She thought of little Jackie. Then
Mabeline Bondag? laughed to herself as she entered her store, locking
the door behind her.
