Greetings good people. This is Bill Bonnie. I will tell you how I teamed
up with Uncle Monty to help Belle and some of the people in her life.
I was watching the news one night. My housemate Nicole was working a
double shift at the 9 1 1 center. I knew she didnot need to work, but
liked doing so. We had just started to think of two things. The first is
to be married. The other was to find a place of our own. Larry's mother
in law type apartment was OK, but Nicole and I would need a place of our
own.
Larry did have a duplex that was empty and was willing to sell it at the
price of one year's taxes. It was not bad. The back deck was covered
with a grape arbor. The upper apartment had a heated sunporch. I could
turn it into a single family place with ease. The back stairwell could
be a back up pantry. Both of the apartments did have a fireplace. The
lower one mostly could be used for romance or heat back up. The upper
one I wanted closed off. It could not be done without both being closed
off. Nicole wanted the fireplaces to be adapted to be used with gas. I
would leave them as wood and coal use. Just in case of a power failure
in winter. The back yard was large. Good. The garage was big enough for
Nicole's boat. I think that Larry did this on purpose. I think he knew
of my thoughts and decided to allow Nicole and I to save face. Her old
place was still being rented out.
I was about to turn in when I heard a knock at the door. It was Uncle
Monty. He looked beat. I said, "Hey Uncle Monty, come in and rest. You
need it."
Monty said, "No. Nicole needs you now."
I looked at him and said, "What is up ? What is so bad that we both cant
get at least four hours of sleep and a good breakfast?"
Monty said with some care, "You're right Laddie. Nicole chose well with
you. It will be easier to say in morning after Nicole returns to her
job. The less she knows, the better. You will be sworn to secrecy on the
pain of death. All you will tell Nicole is, that the Navy needs you for
a bit of your time. If you cant do that, say so now. If I think you cant
keep quiet, I will kill you now. Do you understand?"
I asked, "Is it that bad?"
Monty said, "Yes it is."
I said, "I will back your play."
"Nicole did pick well to be with you. My Jimmy is parked outside. What
will you say about that?" asked Monty.
I just said, "That you stopped in and needed some sleep. You needed me
and we will leave in my car to what ever Naval Base you say."
Monty said, "You were always a fast learner. You do know that I have
your file at my command, among other things."
I said, "I guessed as much. Nicole did tell me that you do some work for
our nation in a way that can't be talked about. Please take our guest
room for tonight and we will talk about this in the morning."
Monty nodded his assent as I led him to the guest room. I went to his
car and took his two bags to him. I left his keys on the key board that
we had rigged up. The key board was used to put keys so if Nicole needed
my car, she could find them fast. There where other needs, but that is
the basics of the key board.
Nicole came home one hour later. I just told her what Monty said. I also
told her that he was in our guest room. Nicole seemed to understand. She
also hugged me like there was no tomorrow. She said, "Take care Bill.
Bring back Monty for us. I want to hear his pipes. I want to hear them
when we wed."
I dont know why I said it, but I did, "So do I Nicole. So do I. I swear
he can make the bagpipes sing."
We went to bed. I did sleep, but not well. I somehow knew that Uncle
Monty was recruiting me for some of his work. I would know more later.
In the morning, we all ate a light breakfast. Just some corn flakes and
blueberries. Some coffee, juice, and toast. I knew that Nicole wanted to
know what was up and she did know about Uncle Monty's past. I said, "I
will tell you what I can, when I can. Besides, a paycheck or two from
the Navy couldn't hurt."
Monty and I started to go. Monty said, "The first thing we do is to stop
at the sherriff's department. There is an item that must be picked up. I
can tell them the truth when I say it is part of federal case. I just
wont say which case. When we are done with the item, it will be locked
up in a vault on federal property."
I was in deep thought. I was right. Uncle Monty was trying sign me up
for a long term deal with the goverment. I would have to let Monty play
his cards a bit further before I could grasp the whole picture. Then I
said, "I hope we can wrap this thing up fast. Bill and Belle are getting
hitched soon and I dont want to miss that party."
Monty just smiled as he said, "That is best part about this trip. I get
to be here for the wedding and get paid by Uncle Sam.I just wished this
was done sooner. It is too late for them to raise children."
We arrived at the sherriff's department and Uncle Monty talked with Andy
Jackson. In less time than it takes to get a cup of coffee, Uncle Monty
was back with a small brief case. He had signed a form, then we went
back to my car. After we were out of town and away from most eyes, Monty
opened the case. In it was a gun. It looked like something that you
would find at a toy store or at a Sci Fi collection show. I said, "I
think I have seen or heard of that type of gun before. Larry and Nicole
told me about it. It dealt with a case at the Wellman."
Monty said, "You did hear proper. Miss. Bateman is getting full medical
treatment. Miss. Summers is getting her life back on line."
I had to think. Then I asked, "So how will that toy help our job?"
Monty said, "It will protect Capt. Starr and her friends."
I said, "Nicole told me it could not be recharged. So how can you do
it?"
Monty said, "The 'Company' came up with it. I know it's specks. The '
Company 'dropped it for the right reasonings. The results were not worth
of the price."
I was in thought. I then asked, "So how does that help us?"
Mounty thought for a short time, then said, "It will get one more use.
After that use, it will be stored in a federal storage vault. The person
we are after was the one who let Miss. Bateman get this gun. He didn't
tell her how to use it. When the weapon was emptied and shut off, Miss
Bateman's victim could not be returned to his old form. That was one of
the flaws that kept the weapon out of use. The other is, it is too broad
beamed. Anyone near the target could be affected. For example, if you
and Nicole were standing close to each other and I fired it at you,
Nicole could rejoin the sherriff's department in your body and you would
become warehouse worker in her body. The side effect would be that you
both would know of your past and if you told it, you would sent to see a
shrink."
I asked, "Is there more?"
Monty said, "Yes, but I will tell you later, maybe."
We drove onward. it was getting around sundown and Monty had us check in
at a Hotel 6. After checking in and leaving our bags in the room, we got
back in the car with only the gun. Then we drove to what looked like a
small horse farm. In truth there was only one horse with a foal there.
They were there for cover. I saw one compact car, a full sized pickup,
and a car that was same make and model as mine. We went into the ranch
house. We started a basic room to room search. We got to the living room
and saw two men. One was working on a computer. The other was giving
instructions.
I knew one from my days in the Navy. I knew he had a high securitiy
clearance. He was called John Morrison. We both went toe to toe a few
times. He lost each time but not by much. The other was called Dave
Ortiz. Monty spoke with full authoritiy. He said, "Now gentelmen, please
stop what you are doing. If you donot, I will be forced to use this
device."
John said, "Hello Scotty. I see you brought some good back up. Dont try
the Smith and Jones act with me. I know you both."
I laughed. I did say, "Be quiet John. Let Mr. Smith give you his deal."
Monty said, "Thank you Mr. Smith. My deal is simple. Log off and stay
off. If I find one of you on that site, your pain would be worse than
death it self."
I said, "Before what we do to you happens, please tell me why ? It might
make things easier on you. Mr. Smith if we know why, then we can make a
better report."
Monty said, "Your right on that Mr. Smith."
Dave said, "It is because of my sister Heather."
Monty asked, "Your sister ? What did she do?"
I heard Dave give a sigh. Then he said, "She was removed from the
Wellman Clinic and she fell into a deep depression. She went to work in
a nursing home and still does. But she feels like a wage slave."
I said, "I see. When she was removed from the Wellman, it was not
because of her skill but of her conduct with other workers. Also for
insubordination. I have the files."
John said, "I told you two not to try the Smith and Jones act. Now I
will shoot you."
I said as I decked him and removed his gun, "I don't think so."
Dave then said, "Easy John. We dont know what they want us to do."
Monty said, "You are to stop. I dont care why you started looking. But
you will stop looking. If you show what is on those files, you will hurt
too many people. You will also cause harm on the international side.
This will be not allowed. John stand next to Dave. I only came here to
prevent that harm."
John asked, "Just what the fuck you mean by that?"
I heard Monty say in a very calm voice " You harm Capt. Starr, and you
hurt the people she tries to help. You harm Gunny Wallace or * SFC
Hessman, you can put a large amount of people out of work. You harm
their young friends, and you can open the area they live into a place of
pure misery. In short, you harm too many people that you have no beef
with. That is the reason I will stop you."
Dave did ask in a painfull voice, "But what of my sister?"
I had to say, "My sorrows to your sister. She was given a choice and she
chose not to see where she was going wrong. Ms. Starr wanted to Heather
to learn and work with her coworkers. The Wellman Clinic uses many means
to help their clients. Heather could not accept that."
Before Dave could speak, John said, "Dave is just a flunkie for the **
GAO. He called me when all the High Level Blocks showed up. We went to
this safe house."
Monty said, "Yes that may be true. But just got you looking in the first
place?"
David said, "When I could find nothing about Capt. Starr's past. I could
find out everything on her *** husband, but not her."
Monty said, "That is because you were meant not to. Capt. Starr lost
what she lost of her own will and needed to get the mission done. She
gained also from that will. The Corps followed it's Naval tradtion on
taking care of their own. If Capt. Starr didnot do what she did, there
would be a bunch people who would be in greater pain today."
John said, "I think your full of shit Scotty."
Then I heard Monty ask me, "Is it time Mr. Smith?"
I said, "Yes Mr. Smith. It is time."
Then Monty fired the device. Both John and Dave were turned into women.
After they changed them I went to the computer that they were using. I
shut it off. Waited two minutes and turned it back on. When the command
codes came up, I told it to go to factory zero. All files would be
earsed and hidden. Monty said, "Good thinking. Jackie and Margertia will
not know how to undo that. Not only did I change their looks, but their
brains as well. We can set them up for jobs at a nearby bar or diner. We
would not want them to starve."
I said, "Right Mr. Smith. Lets get out of Dodge."
We went to my car. Monty went into the barn and brought some gas cans
and two pumpkin jacks. I knew what was up. While Monty drained all of
the other cars of gas, he filled my tank. Then he left the rest of the
gas in the Jerry Cans and put them in my trunk. I switched my tires with
that of the Ford Sedan that was there. After switching the tires I cut
the battery leads and removed the distributor cap and spark plugs. I
also did the same thing to the other vehicles. Mounty cut the phone and
power lines from the house. Then he emptied the device of all power and
shorted the charging leads. He said, "I am making sure no one can use
this damm device again. It has hurt too many people as it is."
After getting back on the road and returning to our hotel, I tossed all
the car parts in the dumpster. Then we both took a shower and went to
bed. The next morning we went to of all places, the Pentagon. We were
led to Sgt. Major Snyder's office. Sgt. Major Snyder then led us to a
vault and the gun was locked up a safe that was in the vault. Sgt Major
Snyder said, "I see you and your young friend were busy last night
Scotty. Your mission was a success?"
Monty said, "Yes we were sir. Capt. Starr and her friends will be
protected for a long time. Before I leave here, I am going to change and
update some of the security on her files. This was the second time we
had a breach. This time from an inside man. While I do that please fill
in Mr. Bonnie."
Sgt. Major Snyder said, "William, I know you know about Capt. Starr and
some of her work. Because some of her clients have knowledge of
govermental secrets, Scotty along with a few others as well as myself
formed a watchdog group to help keep her safe. Her Special Operations
Group which you are apart of is also watched over. You can help us help
them."
I had to say, "How can I do that sir?"
Sgt Major Snyder said, "Just come to my office."
We went to his office. Monty came along a short time later. Monty said,
"I am stealing some of this **** Lifer Juice. Bill do you want some?"
I said, "Yes and keep it black."
Sgt Major Snyder, "Do any you want some ***** S. O. S.?"
Both Monty and I declined. Then I asked, "What is the deal?"
Sgt Major Snyder said, "Just be your self. Are you in?"
I thought about it. Then I said, "Yes. I do have one condition. Let me
have Nicole in on this deal. Her police training and 9 1 1 center work
could find things faster for me and keep it normal looking."
Sgt Major Snyder said as he slid a case to me. "Good. We also thought of
that. Here is some things that you will need."
I looked inside. I saw an Iternational Weapons Permit, an I D card that
could keep me out of jail almost anywhere. There was ones for Nicole as
well. Rank markings for a paygrade that was two grades higher than when
I left the Navy. Nicole had a rating of a GS 7 for pay. A pair of
goverment gas cards.A set of gold oak leaves, and a engagement ring. "
The last two are for someone else. The oak leaves are for Capt. Starr.
The ring is for Nicole," said Monty in a gentle voice.
I was in wonderment when Monty said, "She does keep up regular e-mail
and IM with me. I know that the both you want to hear my pipes at your
wedding."
I said, "Thank you both."
Sgt Major Snyder then said, "Good. We are in agreement then. You pick
you weapons and we will send them to you by way of your friend Larry.
His collectors and dealers license will cover it perfectly. Just contact
me or Scotty if you need help. Try Scotty first. A man talking to his
wife's Uncle would look normal."
I filled out my weapons choice. Then Monty and I left to return to
Salem. We stopped only twice. Once for food and once for gas. I didnot
want anyone seeing the Jerry Cans.
When we got back home I dumped some of the gas in my car. The rest I
poured into Nicole's truck and Larry's New Arcdia. Then both Monty and I
went to bed.
The next morning, we all got up. Larry invited us all over for a pancake
breakfast. Nicole didnot have to be at work and I was needed the next
day at the brewery. Nicole said, "Belle is in a funk lately. The Yankees
are losing too much. So when are you going to tell us why the Navy
needed of you?"
I said, "Later Nicole, later."
Larry said, "I just got two packages for you Bill. What is inside them?"
I had to say, "In the long one is a Timberwolf Rifle. Pump action and it
takes a.357 round. The same as my Smith and Wesson P 686. The other has
four pistols. Two are Baby Eagles. The other two are Desert Eagles. The
Baby Eagles take the same ammo as Nicole's old Glock 25 but are twice as
accurate."
Nicole asked, "What are they for?"
I said, "The rifle is for huntinng. The sidearms are for work. The Navy
wants me to do some long termed work. They also want you Nicole. Uncle
Monty can fill you in later. The way gas prices are going, the pay could
help fill the tanks."
I left to speak to Belle. I said, "I know that your past has some holes
in it. You can tell me when you want to. Here is something for you from
a few friends. It is an overdue promotion."
Belle just smiled. Two days later Belle and Bill had thier wedding. The
service was simple and Belle kept her name for work reasons. Belle true
to her word wore a modified tux. For the wedding it had a skirt and low
heeled pumps. For the reception, she wore tailored slacks with the low
pumps. Herman Hessman did host the reception. Needless to say we all
took cabs home.
Well now I must get back to work.
