"You know I'm not who I appear to be. Things weren't always as easy for
me as they are now with dealing with this but after two years things
aren't as bad as they were at first. You probably won't believe my tale
at all anyway, but I'm warning you now magic is real. I've learned the
hard way and now believe all those stories about wizards and waterparks
that I've read all about."
"Before I go any further though promise me you won't think I'm crazy and
quit being my friend. I've grown quite fond of you three since this all
began. If it wasn't for you three I might not of made it at all." I
stopped and waited for Stephanie, Lindsey, and Erin to answer. Once all
three nodded and made their promise I began my story.

Two years ago mom had just came home from the store. She was preparing
for my birthday party. I was so excited after all it was my 16th
birthday. You would think it was just like now but the thing is I
wasn't Jessica. You see I am Jeff or at least I was.
We were fighting as always when mom had gotten home. We were because I
had been listening in on Jessie's phone calls again. I don't know why I
always did that but I just wanted to hang out with her and you girls.
Her being three years older then me had made me always look up to her
even if she was a girl and I was a guy.
Most teenagers would of outgrown this phase but you all allowed me to
hang around you until the last couple months. I was really resentful
and we got into an actual fist fight over it. Right as I had hit her
mom walked in the door. Mom ordered me to help her put away the
groceries and then I would spend the rest of the day in my room until my
party. Afterwards I would be grounded for two weeks. She wouldn't
listen to me at all and then Jessica didn't even get in any trouble.
As I was unpacking the groceries I noticed some candles. They were in a
package with holographic type image that faded in and out. One minute
it was pink the next it was blue. The candles inside kind of looked
like those trick candles that light back up after you blow them out. On
the packaging it had written in Old English style lettering Birthday
Wishes! Careful what you wish for because wishes can come true.
I put the groceries away then went to my room right away. I didn't want
to get in anymore trouble then I was already in. I slammed my door and
went to my bed. I knew I shouldn't of gotten as upset about the minor
thing about her not wanting me to listen in on her phone conversation
but I couldn't stand not being an important part of her life anymore.
I was quite angry at my sister for cutting me out of her life and I was
still fuming when I came down for my birthday party. Mom and Jessie
played it off like nothing was going on and I decided to play it that
way as well as best as I could. Things continued like nothing had
happened until it was time for cake and ice cream. As mom was setting
the cake out she lit the candles and smiled at me and said, "Blow out
the candles honey."
Then she bent down and whispered in my ear, "Make a good wish because
you're going to be grounded for quite some time."
This shocked the hell out of me because until recently mom had usually
sided with me even when I was the one in the wrong.
I leaned down and began to blow out the candles and I was so upset and
angry at the time when I made my wish. I was blowing out the candles
when I whispered to myself, "I wish that Jessica knew what it was like
to be me." The lights in the house flickered and then I felt a trimmer.
I closed my eyes and when I opened them nothing could prepare me for the
shock I was in store for. Standing across from me was myself. I looked
down and let out a scream.
"Whats wrong Jessie?" someone asked. I can't remember who because I
passed out. I awoke sometime later. I was laying on the couch and
laying on the other couch was my body but it was unconscious just like I
had just been. I looked at the body I was currently in and realizing
that I was now my sister. Everyone was standing around us. It was
quite intimidating truthfully.
"What happened Jess?" my mother asked.
"I don't know mom, but I think everyone should go home and we should
talk me you and Jes... Jeff." I caught myself I had almost called my
body Jessica in front of everyone. I realized then it wouldn't be a
good idea and I was only guessing that was Jessica in my body. Mom
agreed and sent everyone home apologizing for the trouble.
Just as the last people left the party Jessica finally woke up. Mom was
still in the other room and hadn't come back to talk to me yet. "Jess
is that you?" I asked her.
"Yeah, Jeff?" she asked in a panicked voice.
I nodded. "Look, I'm sorry, I think this is my fault somehow."
"What happened? Please tell me, I'll try not to get to mad at you bub."
"I was really mad at you and the situation when I made my wish on my
birthday cake. I'm just really hurt that we had been growing apart over
the last year or so and then when we got in a fight today and mom
grounded me I was really resentful towards you." I didn't notice mom
walking in the room right around now and didn't realize she had heard
all of what we were talking about. "When mom informed me as I was
blowing out the candles that I was still going to be grounded I wished
for you to know what it's like to be me Jess. I'm so sorry." I felt
the need to cry overtake my body. I began to sob. I had not only did
this to myself but I had tied Jessica up into this as well.
I felt a hand on my shoulder as I was pulled around. My mom took me
into her arms and gave me the most comforting hug. "Jeff, I'm sorry I
shouldn't of been so harsh to you on your birthday but you can't go
around hitting your sister. You are well were bigger then her even
though she is older. It's alright don't blame yourself Jes...Jeff."
It was clear that none of us had any clue how to handle the situation.
The night continued on and we had a long family discussion. We had
decided that I would try to be Jessie and she would try to be Jeff. It
was a little awkward at first but after just a couple days things
started to seem almost normal like I had been doing these things all my
life.
The first couple days I had some interesting things to get used to. It
was weird having to sit down to pee. I hard a hard time remembering to
go inside the girls room. Putting on makeup, doing my hair and learning
how to coordinate my clothes were a trip not to mention walking in
heels. That was a learning experience I'll never forget.
After a week had passed I soon began to realize I wouldn't be getting my
body back and hadn't realized that I was actually starting to do all the
girl things naturally without thinking about it. I felt happy that I
was blending in but a bit afraid of losing who I was.
Jessie quickly slipped into the roll of the little brother quite easily
and I think after only a week or so mother didn't even remember that we
were switched and every time we would talk about it she would deny it
and even get upset at us for trying to play a cruel trick on her. We
soon realized that mom didn't remember that night at all.
Well Jessie who is now Jeff became upset with me about having to live
out my grounding and I felt bad so I stayed home with him those first
couple weeks. After awhile though I had a hard time relating with him.
He was suddenly into these aggressive videogames and sports stuff and
while I still enjoyed them some I couldn't enjoy them for long periods
of time like he could. At these times I would excuse myself and go back
to my new room and read what was now my diary.
One night as I was getting closer and closer to the end of the diary
that was about 2 weeks before the day I became my sister I was reading
and I came across a picture of Christian and I felt funny. Then I began
to read about him and realized that my sister was trying to get him to
notice her and was flirting with him all the time. I found out that she
liked him a lot. I became terrified when I realized that my body no I
was attracted to this boy. I wanted him and it scared the living
daylight out of me.
I became withdrawn and that's where you three came in if I remember
right. You noticed I was upset about something and you invited me out
shopping and then a weekend trip away. I had never been out on a trip
on my own normally mom wouldn't let me but I was 19 now and supposed to
be a well adjusted college girl. We went off for our long weekend in
Gatlinburg and you soon had me forgetting about my troubles of wanting
this boy Christian. The thing was while we were out I didn't even
realize that I was checking out and talking about boys right along with
you. That's when Christian came up in conversation and you all asked me
how that was going. Do you remember that? I then became aware of what
was going on again and I got scared again. I got up and ran away from
you all. You thought he had lead me on and became concerned for me.
The three of you kept me from going insane that night and even helped me
realize that liking boys was okay. We talked all night though I never
talked about my inner turmoil with you then. I didn't think anyone
would believe me and I was starting to forget what it was like to be
Jeff anyway.
The three of us starting hanging out more and more and my little brother
Jeff kept wanting to hang out with us. I would let him at first but
then soon realized that it was kind of annoying I didn't think you all
would want him around so I started excluding him from our plans all
together.
This happened over the last few months and my baby brother, wow its
weird to call him that, the other night things got out of hand and he
got mad at me. He was upset that I was excluding him from hanging out
with you guys. He reminded me that they were his friends first and that
I was living the life he was meant to live. I got upset and yelled at
him and he struck me. Its odd how things come full circle.
I apologized to him. I told him I would talk to you guys and tell you
all the full story and just hope you can maybe include him in some of
your plans. He has grown into an exceptional young man but he really
does have a softer side. Jessie is still inside him and with me and
Christian getting hot and heavy he has even started to accept that he
likes girls now. I for one think he might have a crush on you Erin, I
know I used to, If I wasn't completely straight I'd probably have a
crush on all three of you.
My I feel like this has always been who I was now. I don't think any of
Jeff is left other then my knowledge on how to keep Christian happy. I
hope after you 3 have heard all this that you still accept me as your
friend and don't think I'm crazy and if you don't believe me go ask Jeff
about anything I should know that hasn't happened in the last couple
years. Oh yeah and if you ever get those birthday wish candles for a
birthday be careful what you wish for it worked out for the better for
me and my brother I think, but it could have been a whole lot worse.
