“Yeah, I suppose you’re right,” he said. “Are you going to offer me any?”
“I would rather you didn’t drink if you have to drive home to-night,” I said, “That wouldn’t be smart.”
“Yeah, maybe I should just stay over and go home in the morning,” he said.
“I don’t think that would be a good idea Jeremy,” I responded, “plus, I don’t remember inviting you to stay over.”
“True, but you didn’t invite me over and yet here I am and aren’t you happy I didn’t listen to you, but went with my heart on this one?” he said like a total smart-ass.
I replied, “I would have been happier if you would have actually listened to me, but you never could do that and that is why we’re not together right now.”
“No,” he said, we’re not together because you are going to school in Grayson instead of going to school in Furrville like you should be!”
“That’s really funny Jeremy,” I said, as I moved away from him.
Kari spoke up and said, “I can go in my room if you guys want to talk.”
“No,” I said, “stay here with me.”
“So are you going to offer me some wine,” he said nicely.
“I guess,” I responded, “then you are on your own, okay?”
“Okay, no problem,” he replied.
“I’ll get some more wine,” said Kari, “be right back.”
I couldn’t stop feeling like Jeremy had something going on. I didn’t like the fact that he followed us home and I couldn’t stop feeling mad and violated by him for doing that.
“I’m a little mad at you Jeremy,” I said to him.
“Mad, why?” he replied.
“Because, I told you that I didn’t want company and I feel like you disrespected me by coming over here anyway,” I told him, “and that you would follow us home and not call on the phone and ask for directions.”
“Well, I am mad at you for leaving town and not telling me,” he said, “and telling me I couldn’t come over was just rude. We have known each other for a long time and you all of a sudden treat me like some stranger?”
“It’s a matter of respect Jeremy, but never mind that. I don’t want to argue with you,” I said, “just don’t do it again, okay?

Just then, Kari came into the room with the bottle of merlot that we had already started drinking earlier. She poured Jeremy a glass of wine and handed it to him.

“Okay,” said Jeremy as he continued his conversation with Kari. While sitting on the toilet, I decided to text my dad again. “dad, what about your job? How long can you take off from work?” I hit send and flushed the toilet. As I came back out into the living room, I heard a beeping sound that was identical to that of my dad’s cell phone, when a text would come in.
“What’s that noise?” I asked.
“It’s my phone,” said Jeremy, “I got a text message.”
“Aren’t you going to check it?” I inquired.
“No, it’s probably Jenny wondering if I made it home safely,” he replied. “She is always pestering me for stuff, so don’t worry.”
“It’s just that beeping sounded just like my dad’s phone,” I said.
“Nope, it’s my phone for sure, so no worries,” he responded.
Jeremy’s one glass of wine turned into three glasses of wine and just like I had previously gathered, he was looking for a rea¬son to stay the night, especially after seeing Kari.
“So Jeremy,” I said, “I take it that you are staying the night?”
“If it’s not too much of a hassle,” he replied.
“No, it’s okay, but you have to sleep in the guest bedroom, cause sweetie-cakes and I are sleeping in my bed,” I said.
“Are you sure you don’t want company?” he said, like a total pig!
“Yes, Jeremy. If you want to stay the night, you have to sleep in the guest bedroom,” I told him, knowing his hidden motives.
“Okay,” he said, “I understand.”
It wasn’t long before everyone was pretty-much hammered and ready for bed. Jeremy headed to the guest bedroom, while Kari and I got undressed and went and climbed in my bed together.
“Good night girls,” he yelled from the other room.
“Good night Jeremy,” we both yelled back at the same time.
“Good night sweetheart,” I said to Kari, as I kissed her on the lips and quickly went to sleep. I was so sleepy all of a sudden.
That night I had a dream that I was on a moose hunt with my dad. We were in Canada and we had flown in to a remote lake with a couple of his close hunting buddies. The plane had pon¬toons, so we landed right on the water and taxied to the edge of the shore, where there was a small beach with rocks and sand.
Dad’s friends were really nice and they treated me like I was his son, which didn’t bother me a bit. I pee’d standing up till I was 16-years old… Hahahaha. I felt really lucky to be invited on a moose hunt with my dad. It wasn’t too often that I was even asked. I felt safe with my dad and his friends were a bunch of burly bikers and nothing could scare me when I was with them.
It took a while to get everything unloaded and setup camp, but in a couple hours, we were situated in our new temporary home away from home. My dad had a really nice tent and warm sleeping bags, so I was always toasty, even though sometimes it was freezing outside. Dad’s friend Pete was a really good cook and always made yummy stuff for us to eat. We always had pancakes or flapjacks and he called them. They were always really good with lots of butter and syrup on them. I can’t remember the last time I went hunting with my dad, but this was sure to be an amazing trip. We were in a place that you could only get to by plane, so there were very few visitors. It was nice to just tag along with my dad and his friends, they were cool.
