The Cheerleader Transformation
Part 3
Chapter 1
Britney had her mom come pick her up and ran to her bedroom as soon as
she got home. Her mom was furious with her, and kept questioning why
her little sister Lizzie was so upset. Britney had remained silent;
fearing talking at all would make her burst into tears. She collapsed
on her bed and began sobbing. Her best friend was gone, lost in the
abyss of Lisa's madness. She couldn't believe what was happening.
Krissy was really acting like that, she wasn't faking it. Lisa had
given her a completely new personality, and on top of that, Lisa made
Krissy into her little sister. Britney felt sick and helpless. She
tried to cling onto the idea of somehow finding a way to get her and
Krissy out of the nightmare they were in, but it seemed so much more
difficult now. Britney knew that the other cheerleaders knew her well,
and were close with her, especially Kristen. However she knew very
little about those girls, and other girls were the last people she
wanted to hang out with, especially now. She feared what behavior was
ahead for Krissy. Britney shook her head as she replayed the bitchy
lecture Krissy had given her, her sickness increasing the more she
thought about it. The fact that Krissy was still able to remember
everything. And now she's being forced to experience this teenage
girl's personality. She is still her old self in her mind, but she
won't be able to outwardly be her orginal self. If nothing else,
Britney feared for Krissy's mind. She couldn't imagine the torture it
would be to have that kind of internal battle.
Britney sobbed and huffed. She felt like she was having a nervous
breakdown. So many thoughts were racing through her mind. Everything
from killing Lisa to suicide; the latter seeming like something much
easier to accomplish. However she remembered Lisa mentioning that she
wouldn't be able to go through with something like that. Britney began
to ponder testing it out, just to see if Lisa was lying or not.
However she stopped herself.
"Like, damnit! If I did that, then Krissy really would be in misery!
She'd have like, no chance at all!" Britney squeaked in a dry huff.
She pounded the bed with her fists. She couldn't stand thinking about
this anymore, she needed a distraction. She picked up her phone and
called Bobby.
"Hey like, can we please ignore what happened today? I'm not into you
like that, but I really need an escape right now. Can I come over?"
Britney asked in a squeaky voice, trying to make it sound like she
wasn't upset.
"Yeah sure, my parents are still at Jason's soccer game, but I don't
think they'll care too much as long as Jessica is here, I'll see if
she can come get you," Bobby said.
"No need, I'll get my mom to bring me over there, what time is it?"
Britney asked.
"It's about seven, but you can probably stay a while, have you eaten
dinner?" Bobby asked.
Britney's stomach rumbled at the mention of food.
"No," she replied quickly.
"Cool, I'll fix some food, come on over and we can eat and play some
games," Bobby said happily.
Britney almost smiled.
"Thanks Bobby, you're really sweet," Britney said. She smacked herself
on the forehead realizing how he could've taken that.
"No problem, I'm always here for you; see you in a few," Bobby said.
Britney hung up the phone and moaned.
"ARRGHH! That sounded like, so wrong! Whatever," she squeaked.
She pulled off her clothes and rubbed scented lotion on her body to
cover up any body odor from cheer practice. She caught a glimpse of
her naked body in the mirror and almost threw the lotion bottle back
at it.
She sprinted to chest of drawers, grabbed some underwear, and then
over to her closet to put on an outfit. The last thing she wanted was
to feel girly at the moment. She pulled on a plain, non-lacy pair of
white cotton panties, and matching bra. She sat on her bed and pulled
on the baggiest pair of blue jeans she could find, which were still
pretty tight. They were boot cut and wider from the ankle down. She
regretted picking them right away but kept getting dressed. She pulled
on a plain yellow shirt that looked like it was baggy, but after she
got it on, realized it hung completely off of one shoulder, showing
her bra strap. She shook her head and pulled it off. She ran back into
her closet and grabbed a blue and white striped Abercrombie polo
shirt. It fit tight and complemented her body. She hated it, but at
least it wasn't a dress.
She pulled on a pair of white ankle socks, and simple blue vans
sneakers. She'd seen lots of other girls wearing them and knew they
were very trendy, but the boot cut of her jeans covered them up pretty
well so she didn't have to look at them. She grabbed a hair tie and
brushed her hair back and re-did her high pony tail. She didn't bother
redoing any makeup, but sprayed on a little perfume, feeling anxious
that she might still smell sweaty.
She grabbed her bag and headed downstairs quickly, pleased that she
was able to will herself to dress in a much more modest and covered up
outfit than usual.
"You look cute! Going over to Bobby's?" her mom asked as she walked
into the kitchen.
Britney's heart sank. The last thing she was thinking was that she
might look cute. She was hoping she looked drab and unkempt.
Her little sister was eating a grilled cheese and salad, silently
staring at her.
"Lizzie, I'm sorry about that, it's hard to like, explain. Lisa is
just like, a little out there sometimes and you're too young to uh,
like - know about some things she does or says," Britney said quickly,
looking to her mom for approval.
"Okay, I understand now. Lizzie your big sister was just trying to
take care of you, that's all! I'm sorry it was so upsetting, but you
really are too young to be hanging around older girls, especially Lisa
--- being that she's a senior and has a bit of a, um, reputation,"
Britney's mom said trying to cheer Lizzie up.
Lizzie nodded and her long blonde ponytail bobbed up and down happily.
"Thanks for like, letting me come. I'm sorry I got so upset," Lizzie
said in a squeaky voice.
Britney smiled a fake smile and nodded.
"Can you take me to Bobby's?" Britney asked.
Her mom agreed and she drove her with Lizzie in the back seat a few
neighborhoods away to Bobby's house. Britney said she'd try to get a
ride home from Jessica later, and closed the car door. She felt
nervous as she walked up to Bobby's door. She started to pull her
ponytail tighter, but stopped herself when she realized what she was
doing. She was still very embarrassed after what had happened earlier
in the day, but after being forced to watch her best friend's mind and
body toyed with, the embarrassment felt a bit duller.
"Hey! Wow you don't look like you just spent a few hours cheerleading!
I'm impressed, I could use some tips for when I'm too lazy to shower
after my lacrosse practices," Bobby said with a laugh.
"You like, play Lacrosse?" Britney asked in a ditzy voice as they
walked up the stairs towards the rec room.
Bobby gave her a strange look.
"Uh yeah, I have since sixth grade, I mean, we've gone to the same
school since then, I didn't realize I was that invisible to you,"
Bobby said somewhat defensively.
Britney's heart fluttered. She couldn't seem weird; she knew she had
to cover quickly.
"No like, I meant, I didn't know you still did. I mean the school year
just started, people like, do different stuff sometimes,' Britney said
quickly.
Bobby nodded and smiled.
"Yeah I mean, I'm playing football now too as you know, but Lacrosse
is still my favorite!" Bobby said happily as they sat down on the rec
room couch.
Britney felt slightly happy inside, she had loved playing lacrosse
before her life had changed.
Bobby announced that dinner would be ready in thirty minutes; his mom
had taught him how to thaw and cook chicken in the oven. Britney was
impressed, she couldn't think of how to cook anything that wasn't
microwavable. For the next little while they played video games and
talked about Lacrosse. Britney was finally drifting away into a state
of distraction, and felt relaxed.
During dinner Bobby did most of the talking, seeming to be excited
that Britney was so excited by, and knew so much about Lacrosse.
Britney didn't care what Bobby talked about; anything that distracted
her was good in her mind. Bobby took their plates and cleaned up the
kitchen while Britney sat at the counter and attempted to talk about
cheerleading. Bobby had said it was unfair he was talking so much
about what he loved. Britney was very unhappy to find that she was
actually beginning to know an awful lot about cheering, and could
describe certain motions and dances in enough detail for Bobby to
understand. It started to make her upset though as it made her think
about Krissy, so she changed the subject to video games.
They went back upstairs and Bobby had decided he'd help Britney become
a better pool player. He put on a top 40 radio station in the
background and racked up the balls.
"Alright, let me show you how to break," Bobby said.
"I know how to do it!" Britney said defensively as she quickly grabbed
a stick, lined herself up, and shot the cue ball as hard as she could.
The ball curved hard to the side and barely knocked into one ball,
hardly breaking them up at all. Bobby chuckled and racked them up
again.
"Can I please show you just one thing, you're holding your hand
wrong," Bobby said happily.
Britney huffed and nodded. She just wanted to be distracted, even if
it meant making herself seem like she didn't know what she was doing,
although she was starting to question if she really did know what she
was doing. She wasn't very good at pool before her changes, and now
that she was considerably weaker, she was realizing that strength was
the only real advantage she'd ever had.
She lined herself up again and made a motion to shoot, but waited for
Bobby.
"Hold your left hand like this," he said as he showed her a bridge.
She nodded and copied it.
"Great, okay now you move the stick back too awkwardly, you need to be
more fluid like this," Bobby said. Britney tried to copy him, but she
wasn't getting it right.
"May I?" Bobby asked as he looked at Britney. She wasn't sure what he
was asking, but she nodded.
Bobby smiled and stood behind Britney. She started to feel nervous and
afraid he was going to touch her. She was right. Bobby leaned over
behind her and put his left hand on hers, and his right on top of her
right hand that was holding the rear of the stick. Britney's heart
beat quickly and she began to sweat. She had butterflies in her
stomach and felt very anxious.
"It's really easy," Bobby said in a lower, relaxed voice. He drew the
stick back and forth so Britney knew what it felt like to make a
smooth motion. Then he quickly jutted the stick forward, smacked the
cue ball, and it cracked into the others, sending them rolling all
over the table. Two striped balls dunked into the pockets.
"Cool!" Britney squeaked accidently. She closed her eyes tightly,
wishing she hadn't done that.
Bobby stepped away and let her take the next shot by herself, which
she missed. They began to play against each other, with Bobby
occasionally stopping Britney and giving her pointers. To her liking,
he didn't come close or touch her again. She couldn't stand the way
she felt when he was close to her. They finally worked down to just
the eight ball and Britney was feeling very confident, thinking she
might actually beat Bobby.
"How about a wager?" Bobby suggested playfully, as pop music from a
stereo thumped softly in the background.
"Oh? Sure you're on, what's like, the bet?" Britney asked in a serious
voice.
Bobby stroked his chin as if in deep thought. He nodded slowly.
"If I win, you have to go with me to Krissy's party after the game
Friday," he said, holding his hand up as Britney huffed and tried to
interrupt him with her objection.
"As friends!" he quickly added. He smiled wide.
"Fine," she said quickly and angrily, knowing she would beat him
anyway.
"I get it Britney --- as friends only, but you have to at least show
up with me and chill a little while before you disappear with your
cheerleader friends," Bobby said.
Britney didn't like that one bit, and didn't want to go to any party
at all, especially one that would involve cheerleaders and most likely
Lisa. As much as she missed Krissy and had a bond with her, she didn't
really want to be near her at the moment, her new personality seemed
to not like her very much.
"Fine, and if you lose?"Britney said confidently, only agreeing
because it was her shot and it was an easy one.
"Name your price," Bobby said happily.
Britney tried to think of something that might help her get to Lisa
without seeming weird.
"Okay like, you have to help me find a cheerleader to replace whoever
Lisa like, kicked off the varsity squad and like, you have to ask
Jessica to do a favor for me and promise not to tell Lisa," Britney
said quickly, happy that she had thought of two very useful things.
"Wow, covert cheerleader business huh?" Bobby said inquisitively. He
paused and then slowly started nodding his head.
"Alright, you're on! I bet you won't get that in though!" he said in a
booming competitive voice.
Britney scrunched her eyes up and tried to focus.
Bobby started flailing his arms side to side and moving around near
the table.
"AyahahhayhhHHH!" Bobby yelled trying to distract her.
Britney almost broke her concentration to complain, but instead hit
the ball hard, and the eight ball rocketed into the corner pocket. She
had won.
"Yes!" she squeaked as Bobby applauded.
"Good job Britney! You've gotten better; I bet the guy that taught you
how to do that is really talented!" Bobby boasted. Britney smacked him
on the arm and he laughed. That's something she would have done before
her life changed, but after doing it now, she realized it was a
mistake and he would probably take it the wrong way.
"Sorry, uh, let's play some video games," she said quickly, jogging
over to the couch and sitting down.
"So what's the first order of business? You need a junior or senior
girl right?" Bobby asked.
"What?" Britney asked.
"For your cheerleading mission, I lost the bet, I'm a man of my word,
and I'll help you find someone. I guess we're looking for a skinny
athletic girl?" he suggested.
Britney nodded, though she knew it didn't really matter, Lisa's
chemicals had proven to be very strong, and seemed to work a lot
quicker on the mental side of things than the machine had.
"Alright, how about Kara Andrews? She used to be a flag girl but quit
because she said it was too boring," Bobby offered.
"What? How do you know this about some random girl?" Britney asked.
Bobby laughed.
"She's not random! She and Jessica used to be good friends when they
were little. She's an awesome girl, really funny actually. She has
pretty low self-esteem though, I think her saying flags were boring
was just an excuse, so I'm not sure how well it will work, but she was
the first girl to pop into my mind. You know who I'm talking about
right?" Bobby said.
Britney shook her head no.
"I guess your friend clique has become pretty tight huh? Hard to
notice anyone outside of it," Bobby said laughing.
Britney didn't respond.
"Well, I'll talk to her tomorrow, we have Latin together," Bobby said
trying to keep the conversation going.
"No, she has to be a junior or senior," Britney said in a distracted
voice.
"She is, she's a junior, there's a lot of juniors in language classes
with sophomores, there's bound to be some in your Spanish class
right?" Bobby said in a confused voice.
Britney shrugged.
"Like, how do you know I take Spanish?" Britney asked, focusing on the
video game.
Bobby laughed.
"Hello, earth to Britney! You've said hi to me a million times
followed by quickly announcing you were on your way to Spanish. We
take the same hallway after third period, you feeling okay?" Bobby
said in a slightly worried voice.
"I'm fine like, I'm just upset and want to stay distracted," Britney
said.
Bobby raised his eyebrow.
"Uh oh, trouble in cheerleader land, what's bugging ya?" Bobby asked
nicely.
"I don't like, want to talk about it okay?" Britney said in a slightly
bitchy voice.
"Whoa! Easy there tiger, sorry, sorry, is it about today? Look I'm
sorry I didn't realize you and Krissy weren't friends anymore and she
was just messing with me," Bobby said apologetically.
Britney shrugged, she didn't want to have this conversation.
"Eric told me this afternoon that you two haven't gotten along very
well since you became a cheerleader, and being that you just started
during practices this summer, and she's been doing it for years, she's
been pretty hard on you, that's got to be rough, having a friend
suddenly turn on you," Bobby said.
"You have no idea," Britney said quietly. She started to feel like she
was going to cry, but focused on the TV.
"She'll come around, you're a great girl, and once her sister is gone
next year, I'm sure things will be back to normal, that Lisa sure is a
pain! I've seen Krissy try and copy her, she wants to be just like
her, and it doesn't make sense. Krissy used to be such a sweet girl,
or um, uh, sorry she's your friend, or used to be or, whatever, well -
-- I um, I didn't mean that in a bad way, I'm sure Krissy is still a
nice girl, I'm just a little pissed she took advantage of both of us
today. That was pretty messed up," Bobby said.
Britney didn't like hearing about how Krissy's changes had reformed
reality. Imagining Krissy as someone she didn't know anymore made her
want to scream. She felt so alone. Her face started burning and her
heart was beating fast. She started to feel butterflies and was having
a hard time fighting it. Her hormones were so crazy and out of control
now it was as if the simplest disturbance could make her cry.
"Can we not," she whispered quietly.
"I'm sorry, we can change the subject," Bobby said quietly. He sat in
silence a moment and Britney did a finishing move on his game
character, ending the battle.
While the screen was loading, Britney started thinking even more, and
deeper. She was so upset and alone, she just wanted Krissy back. She
started to huff lightly and wanted to excuse herself to the restroom
but was afraid if she moved or said anything, she'd lose her fight and
burst into tears.
"It'll be alright, you're an awesome girl Britney, you deserve only
the best friends," Bobby said quietly. He reached behind her and
started gently rubbing her back.
Britney began huffing even harder and started shaking.
"She's just confused, she'll come around," Bobby said quietly as he
rubbed on Britney's shoulders.
"NO SHE WON'T!" Britney squealed. She finally burst into sobbing
tears.
"Oh no! Shhh! Britney shhh! It's okay! Come here," Bobby cooed. He
pulled Britney over to him and wrapped his arms around her. She was
completely lost in her grief and didn't care; she buried her face in
Bobby's chest and cried harder.
Bobby squeezed her and rocked her back and forth, rubbing her back
with one of his hands gently.
"It's not fair, it's so not fair," Britney cried slightly softer, as
she huffed and sniffled.
"Lisa's a bad seed Britney, Krissy was just dealt a bad hand having
her as a sister, maybe if you just try being nice to Krissy no matter
what, she'll come around and you two can be friends again," Bobby said
quietly.
Britney nodded and sniffled into Bobby's chest.
"That might like, not be a bad idea I guess," Britney sniffled.
She felt completely drained emotionally. Her whole life seemed to be
one long stressful moment now. She had no idea how much longer she
could take it, but she had no other option. She couldn't leave Krissy
stranded.
Britney pulled back and looked at Bobby's soaked grey t-shirt.
"Sorry," she said quietly. It was so embarrassing for her to feel this
way, and especially cry in front of a guy, let alone having that guy
comfort her when she knew the way he felt. She couldn't handle the
discomfort anymore.
"Bobby look, you're like a great friend, and I like hanging out with
you, but can you please, please, just let me be your friend? If you
help me with this stuff for Lisa like, I'll help you find a nice
pretty girl to go out with," Britney said.
Bobby looked put out, but he nodded.
"Alright, I guess, I'd rather have you around than not, so, I can be
cool with that, just you know---it's not going to change the way I
feel," Bobby said.
Britney nodded, hating that she was acting like such a --- girl.
Bobby raised his eyebrow.
"What's wrong with me anyway? Not athletic enough? Tall enough? Why
don't you like me like that?" Bobby asked.
Britney squeezed her eyes shut.
"Look I like, I don't like anybody right now okay? It's not you,
you're very cool and I'm sure you're a great athlete; I'm just not
looking to date somebody right now, honest! If you see me dating
somebody you have my full permission to smack me upside the head!"
Britney said defensively.
Bobby laughed.
"Britney I would never hit you, or any girl for that matter, that's
messed up, why would you want someone to smack you?" Bobby laughed.
Britney shrugged.
"Honestly, I wish someone would just smack me until I come to my
senses, so I can feel SOMETHING other than this----this---anxiety,
this like, fear and guilt and shame---I feel so crazy," Britney said.
Bobby looked at her with a strange face.
"Wow, that like, kind of felt good to get out," she admitted
truthfully.
"Um, maybe you need to talk to someone, you know, maybe the guidance
counselor or something? I didn't know you had it that bad. Is it your
dad being out of town for so long?" Bobby said in a worried voice.
Britney started to have an intense feeling. She couldn't figure out
what it was and it was scaring her. It was building deep inside her
stomach, and vibrating throughout her body, giving her butterflies,
but also a rush of energy that pushed her forward. She tried to resist
it, but some invisible force was pushing her! She felt like she was
going to cry again, and out of panic and not knowing what else to do,
she wrapped her arms around Bobby and pulled herself in closer to him,
resting her head on his shoulder. He wrapped his arms around her again
and placed his head on top of hers.
Britney felt relieved. She felt safe and protected. Bobby started
playing with her hair gently, and she closed her eyes and let it relax
her. She could hear his heart beating steadily.
She hadn't felt this relaxed since her life had been so drastically
changed. She let her guard down and laid still for a while. Bobby
didn't say anything, and she was glad. She started to think about the
way she used to be, which seemed like forever ago now. She thought
that if she were in Bobby's position, she'd have gotten bored, or
frustrated a long time ago and either told the girl to leave, or tried
to forcefully hook up with her. She couldn't believe that she used to
act so---barbaric. She decided then and there that when she got back
to the way things used to be, she'd make some changes --- good
changes. She'd treat people with more respect and empathy. For her to
be laying in the arms of a guy that had strong feelings for her, after
she had insisted they be friends, was crazy. There was also him being
understanding and nice, not to mention actually trying to help her
with her problems. It just seemed so---unreal. Bobby truly was a good
guy.
Britney suddenly jerked and opened her eyes.
"Hey there sleepyhead," Bobby said quietly. His voice sounded strange
with her ear pressed against his body. It was a very deep and hollow
tone.
"Oh like, sorry, whoa, did I like, fall asleep?" she asked in a
confused voice.
She looked down and saw Bobby was playing a video game with the volume
turned down. He seemed to be struggling to hold the controller with
her in the way.
"Sorry I didn't mean to ruin your night," she said sadly as she
started to get up.
Bobby pulled her back down onto him.
"Oh no you don't, get back here!" he said playfully. Britney laughed
and laid her sleepy head back down on his chest.
"What time is it?" she asked sleepily.
"It's nine thirty, my mom gave me a strange look when she walked by a
little while ago, but she smiled and nodded her head, it was weird. I
guess it's because I left the door open," Bobby said with a chuckle.
"Oh no, I hope you're not in trouble, I should go," Britney said
quietly as she got up again.
"Hey, um, if you can't find a girl to you know --- at least go to the
party with me, will you at least consider it? Just as friends of
course, but like --- maybe just show up with me? It would be really
cool of you," Bobby said.
Britney hated the idea, but she couldn't deny that she felt like she
owed Bobby for being so nice to her. Just showing up together wasn't
that bad. He knew where she stood with him, and he was a nice enough
guy to not try anything stupid.
"Okay, I'll go with you, I've got to worry about finding a cheerleader
for Lisa anyway, then maybe we'll like, find some girl for you at the
party," Britney said cheerfully, and honestly.
Bobby smiled a wide grin.
"Sweet! I mean --- um, cool, yeah --- um, let me see if Jessica can
take you home," Bobby said as he stood up and walked out. Britney
yawned and stretched. She couldn't believe she had just fallen asleep
lying on a guy, but she didn't care. It didn't mean anything. They
were like siblings as far as she was concerned.
"Hey Britney!" Bobby's little brother Jason shouted as he ran into the
room.
"Hey Jason! How was your soccer game?" Britney asked happily.
"Oh it was bad, we lost really badly," Jason said dully.
"Oh, I'm sorry, well at least you know you can always win at video
games!" Britney said happily.
Jason smiled.
"You wanna play? I don't have to be in bed for another hour!" he
exclaimed.
Britney shook her head sadly.
"Aww, I'm sorry little buddy, I've got to go home --- next time
though!" Britney said sadly.
Jason hung his head.
"Darn it! Mom wouldn't let me come in here while you two were cuddling
together! I told her you wouldn't care! That's so unfair! Bobby got to
play with you the whole time!" Jason complained.
Britney cringed at the way that came out, but she knew Jason didn't
mean it like that, or at least, she hoped he didn't. 12 wasn't exactly
an innocent age, but at the same time --- Jason was kind of an
innocent kid.
"Next time cutie!"Britney said, regretting that had spilled out of her
mouth. She hated it when she said girly things like that.
Jason smiled.
"Yay! Okay! Tomorrow?!" he asked.
Britney shrugged.
"I don't know! Maybe, we'll see," she said. Bobby came walking back
into the room and Jessica was behind him in the hallway.
"Hey girl! You ready?" Jessica asked.
Britney nodded and stood up and got her things.
"It's just going to be us two, we need some girl talk," Jessica said
happily as she walked out of sight.
Britney looked at Bobby and smiled.
"Thank you, so much for just letting me like --- get that stuff out,
even if it seems crazy or weird," Britney said in an honest voice.
"No prob! Anytime beau---I mean, sorry I promise I'll stop that, um,
no prob, Britney," he said shyly.
Britney reached her arms out and gave him a big long hug. He wrapped
his arms around her and squeezed her tightly. She felt safe again and
wished she could feel like that all the time, and not have to be in
such a situation.
She walked out through the hallway, down the steps, and out the front
door.
She walked over towards the driveway where Jessica's car was. Jessica
was smoking a cigarette and texting. Britney wrinkled her nose at the
smell.
"Sorry, I know I need to quit it's so disgusting, but it helps me skip
meals," Jessica said. She threw the cigarette out the window and they
took off.
On the way Jessica drilled Britney on what had happened during lunch
that day, and kept asking why she was refusing to date her brother.
"Look, I really like Bobby, but it's just as a friend. I know he's
your brother and you're looking out for him! You said you didn't want
his feelings hurt. If I did go out with him right now in the state I'm
in, his feelings would definitely get hurt. I promise you I am just
looking out for the both of us," Britney said, unsure of how she came
to that conclusion.
Jessica nodded her head in approval.
"Yeah I got ya girlie, it's cool. Sorry I was drilling you so much
like, I'm just nosy! I've been there though! After a guy dumped me and
broke my heart my sophomore year, I didn't date for months! Ugh, it
was so lonely though, but I was just such a mess I didn't want every
guy in the school to think I was some weirdo crazy bitch!" Jessica
said with a laugh.
Britney giggled. Jessica seemed quite the opposite to that. Their
whole family did actually. Britney nodded her head as she realized how
lucky she was to have such a great group of siblings as her friends.
She waved goodbye to Jessica and jogged into the house and up to her
room.
She took a shower and felt like she was finally getting used to
cleaning herself while ignoring her body at the same time. She dried
her hair and put on a clean set of white cotton panties and noticed a
strong smell as she was throwing the ones she had on in the hamper.
"What the---," she said as she brought them closer to her nose and
looked at them.
"Whoa that's strong!" she squeaked. She looked at the gusset of the
panties and saw a dark wet spot.
"Oh my gosh," she whispered quietly. She had leaked fluid into them!
And it smelled---like---sex!
She shook her head and threw them in the hamper. She pulled on a white
cotton spaghetti strap tank, crawled into bed and turned out her
light.
"I've like, got to get out of this," she whispered to herself.
Chapter 2
The next morning Britney was pleased that she was able to will herself
to put together another modest outfit. She decided on a pair of skinny
black jeans, the same blue casual sneakers from the night before, and
a loose white top that slightly hung down off her shoulder. She felt
like maybe she was starting to fight off the thoughts and urges she
had been having. Maybe opening up to Bobby, as embarrassing as it was,
had done her some real good. She felt a bit more like a real person,
even though it was very much not the person she wanted to be. She at
least felt less like an anxious robot, and more human. She felt that
she could make her own decisions to an extent, though she knew they
were still under Lisa's crazy guidelines.
She arrived at school and quickly jogged to her locker. She was
cutting it close once again, and questioned why her mom didn't wake
her up earlier. She paid attention in her classes and had no problems
with the work. Even though some of it she had learned a long time ago,
other aspects seemed very new to her. She enjoyed having Kristen
around at lunch, although she was getting the impression that Kristen
and Krissy were still very close friends, and Kristen seemed to be a
little more bitchy and cold when talking about some things. Britney
still hadn't seen Krissy. While it made her slightly sad, she was
mostly relieved. She didn't know how to handle the situation. During
her next class she felt slightly distracted by thoughts of what to do
about Krissy. She had seen Bobby briefly in the hall earlier before
her Spanish class, and he told her that the girl he had for Lisa;
Karla, was willing to try being a cheerleader. The deal was they
weren't allowed to say anything about it until she was on the squad
for sure. Britney had thanked him and given him a half hug. She
started playing the hug back in her mind over and over again,
wondering why she hadn't just given him a real hug. It seemed like an
awkward thing to do at the time, but when she thought about it; Bobby
was her friend and there was nothing wrong with hugging a good friend.
"Britney! Hello?! The bell rang girl!" Kristen said loudly, pulling
Britney out of her daze.
"Oh, like, whoa," Britney said as she stood up quickly and grabbed her
things.
"Ha-ha, you're such a space cadet," Kristen laughed.
Britney frowned and didn't like being called that, but didn't say
anything. Her next class was great because they were watching a movie
about peer pressure. Britney was able to zone out again and think
about a plan to get to Lisa's chemicals. She thought that maybe she
could trick Krissy into being friendly with her and invite herself
over to their house, without Lisa suspecting anything. Then she could
raid Lisa's room, as long as she wasn't home, grab the chemicals and
then she could---.
"Oh crap!" Britney squeaked loudly. Everyone watching the movie turned
around and looked at her. She was covering her mouth in embarrassment
and worded that she was sorry to everyone.
She had realized that Krissy was the one that had the disk drive with
the information about how to use the chemicals, and the software
program. She had no idea where Krissy had been keeping it, and
wondered if Krissy's new personality would know anything about it. She
knew that they didn't have cheer practice on Wednesday's, so she
decided that today would be the day she'd have to try something. She
really didn't want to see Krissy, but she couldn't think of what else
to do. And besides, though she dreaded Krissy's presence, she hoped
that maybe seeing her would make Krissy feel a little better, even if
Krissy couldn't express it.
Britney walked to her locker after her last class, grabbed what she
needed, and started searching for Krissy. She hadn't interacted with
her much at school in the past, and had no idea where her locker was.
She decided her best bet was a text message, assuming the new Krissy
had the same number as she used to.
Britney waited for a response to her "what's up?" text and walked
around the courtyard with Kristen, listening to her blab on about how
excited she was for the game on Friday. Britney couldn't care less and
was very pleased that she was able to tune Kristen out. She felt like
she was finally pulling ahead of Lisa's evil plan, even though the new
Krissy was quite a blow.
Britney's phone vibrated and beeped. Krissy responded that she was
about to go shopping with Stephanie at the mall, and that they were
waiting for Stephanie's mom to pick them up over by the football
field. Britney grabbed Kristen by the arm and they jogged awkwardly
with their heavy uneven book bags on, over past where the busses were
loading, across the road, through the parking lot, and over to the
football stadium. Britney was wondering why they didn't just get
picked up in front of the school, but found her answer as she saw
Stephanie staring through the fence at the football field with big doe
eyes.
"Hey girls! Aren't you so excited for Friday?! I'm so pumped like;
everything is going to be so awesome!" Stephanie squeaked.
Kristen screeched with Stephanie and the two girls stared longingly
into the empty stadium.
Britney however, had been standing completely still, with her mouth
hanging wide open, staring at Krissy, who was smirking back at her
with a sarcastic look.
Britney couldn't believe what she was seeing. Standing in front of her
was the now stick thin, 5 foot tall, long brunette haired Krissy. Her
makeup was overdone, and her eye shadow made her eyes look huge,
almost like an anime character. Her hair was curled slightly and her
lips were bright pink and glossy. That's not the main thing that
shocked Britney though. Krissy glared back at her with a huge grin as
Britney looked her up and down. Krissy was wearing an extremely short
black skirt, a tight pink spaghetti strap tank top that almost left
her stomach exposed, lots of silver bracelets, hoop earrings, and pink
open toed glittery high heels. She had a large pink bow in her hair
and her silver eye shadow was full of glitter. She was also wearing a
silver sparkly cross necklace like the one Britney had been
purposefully leaving on her nightstand. Britney knew that Krissy was
screaming on the inside.
"What like, do you want loser?" Krissy asked in a bitchy voice.
"I um, wanted to hang out," Britney said shyly, not wanting to upset
Krissy.
"Ha! What? You think like, you can just hang out with me to try to be
cool? Yeah right! Look like, I may put up with you during practice and
stuff, but that doesn't mean I'm going to like, be nice to you in real
life," Krissy said with a sharp tone.
Britney was suddenly not feeling up to this challenge. She didn't know
how to handle the emotions she was feeling about Krissy now being
Lisa's evil little sister.
"That's what I thought, go away bitch," Krissy spat sharply. She
turned around and started looking at the field with the other girls.
Britney felt completely rejected, not even Kristen was saying anything
to help her stand up to Krissy. Britney hung her head and started to
walk away.
"I miss you Krissy, I hope you like, can turn yourself around. I like,
know how you feel," Britney said sadly as she walked off. Krissy
ignored her and kept her back turned.
Britney considered trying to go by Lisa's house on her own, but
figured that their mom had been told not to let her in anymore.
Britney let a few tears slowly roll down her cheeks as her heart
filled with pain and sadness over the loss of her best friend.
"Hey hot stuff," a sarcastic guy's voice said from beside a car.
Britney spun around and saw Bobby making a silly face at her.
"Hey," she said sadly, though she was somewhat happy to see him.
"You still feeling down huh?" Bobby said.
Britney nodded and wiped her tears.
"I'm sorry; you wanna play some video games? Jessica is on her way to
her car right now," Bobby said. He waved as he spotted Jessica and she
smiled and waved and excited wave back at Britney. Britney waved a
half wave and tried to smile.
"What's wrong girly girl?" Jessica squeaked as she threw her bags in
her trunk. She looked at Britney expectantly and tied her long blonde
hair up with a scrunchie.
Britney shrugged. Jessica looked over at Bobby who shrugged as well.
The two siblings looked towards the field where Krissy, Stephanie, and
Kristen were still staring longingly at the football field. They
exchanged sad knowing glances to each other.
"Well that doesn't help much! Come on, you're hanging with me today!"
Jessica said happily.
Britney didn't want to hang out with another girl, but figured she had
no choice now. Britney stayed quiet in the back seat as Jessica
complained about how demanding Lisa had been during their practices
lately. Bobby tried calming her down and giving her advice and Britney
began to understand why he had been so good helping out when she was
feeling down.
"Ya'll have fun!" Bobby said as he got out at his house. Britney
climbed up to the front seat and put on her seatbelt. She waved back
at him and smiled, she did feel happy to have their family in her
life.
"So what's eatin' ya girly?" Jessica asked Britney.
"It's just like, Krissy. I can't explain it all, but it's like; she
used to be so different, and now it's like I've totally lost her, and
she's being so mean to me! It's already bad, and then bad even more on
top of that," Britney squeaked in a frustrated voice.
"You want me to try and talk to her?" Jessica suggested as they pulled
onto the highway.
Britney shook her head no.
"That'd just like, make it worse! Then Lisa might start being mean to
you!" Britney said.
Jessica giggled.
"Lisa may have being head cheerleader over me, but I'm not scared of
her. She's very intense, but she's got her weaknesses," Jessica
laughed.
Britney perked up.
"Like what?"Britney asked.
"Oh gosh, I could list a million! But her main faults are that she
gets so intense that she doesn't notice little details around her!
Like, she could be yelling at someone and be so caught up she wouldn't
even notice if there was someone behind her about to play a joke on
her or something! She's lucky she's never had her purse stolen like
that!" Jessica giggled.
"Listen to this," Jessica said in a fit of giggles.
"We were at the mall once and she was yelling at me and there were
these two sketchy old guys behind her and I was trying to get her to
move, and they were like, within reaching distance of her purse! She
wouldn't like, hear it though! She just kept ranting about how I
wouldn't buy an outfit she thought would look good on me! It was too
slutty for my tastes, poor little Krissy obviously isn't disagreeing
with her though, that's becoming pretty obvious! She's way too young
to be dressing like that, heck; I'm too young to be dressing like
that!" Jessica said.
Britney was nodding her head, taking everything in. This was very
useful.
"What else is like, weak about her," Britney asked as they cruised
down the highway at 80 mph.
Jessica giggled and lit a cigarette, cracking her window slightly.
"Let's see, well, she's easily distracted by a guy, that's for sure!"
Jessica laughed.
"I mean, who isn't, but that girl has some crazy hormones! She's not
much for relationships, as everybody knows, but like, when she's into
a guy it's all she'll think about! Sometimes I think the only reason
she cheers is just to get guys' attention, and bragging rights. I
question how much she actually enjoys it," Jessica said.
"I'm pretty sure she enjoys it, at least more than just that part of
it," Britney said dully. She thought about how Lisa liked to use
cheerleading to torture people who didn't want to do it, while trying
to convince herself she's helping them in some way.
"Look, I know it sucks to lose Krissy, but there are plenty of other
cool girls you can be friends with!" Jessica said happily as they
exited off the highway.
"I know, but even the other girls on the cheer squad have started
like, not sticking up for me and following her blindly," Britney said
thinking about what had just happened by the football field.
Jessica shrugged.
"Yeah, that happens, us girls get caught up in the whole social thing
a little too easily don't we?" Jessica said laughing.
Britney wasn't sure if she was trying to be helpful by saying that,
but all it did was made her feel worse.
"Where are we going?" Britney asked as they pulled onto a smaller two
lane highway and sped up again.
"You'll see," Jessica said happily.
They drove for a while longer as Jessica talked about a guy she was
trying to get to ask her out. Britney tried to participate in the
conversation, but she felt like she often couldn't think of anything
to say.
"You've never really dated much have you?" Jessica asked.
Britney closed her eyes and tried to think. Tiny fragments of her life
that she had never thought of before popped into her mind, which
scared her.
"Yeah like, my parents are pretty sheltering, like, they try to keep
me busy with church and now stuff like cheerleading to keep me away
from boys. Although like, since my dad's been out of town like, my mom
seems to almost be encouraging it, which is weird," Britney said. She
was scared that that had all come out of her, but at the same time,
she was somewhat impressed that she just said it without having to
think very hard. She shuddered and started to feel a bit anxious that
she was so far away from everything she knew when she had hoped to
somehow sneak the chemicals from Lisa that evening.
They were now out in the country and kept passing farms and big
clusters of trees. There were lots of cows out grazing and a few times
they passed fields where people were riding on horses. Finally Jessica
slowed the car down and they pulled onto a long gravel road.
"What is this?" Britney asked.
Jessica smiled.
"You'll see! Keep your panties on girl," Jessica giggled.
Britney didn't like being told that. However, Jessica seemed to have
good intentions so she couldn't hold a grudge. They pulled up onto
another gravel road, and up around a few hilly bends. They passed a
small pond and a deep creek bed. Britney was beginning to feel
extremely anxious, wondering where in the heck they were going. She
pulled out her phone and texted her mom that she was with Jessica and
didn't know when she would be home. Finally they rounded a curve,
crossed over a wooden bridge, and went up a steep hill. A large red
barn style house popped into view.
"Ta-da!" Jessica said loudly.
Britney wasn't sure what she was supposed to say, but the large house
was quite impressive.
"This is my secret relaxing spot! I bring my friends here when we need
to just chill out and get away from the craziness of high school!"
Jessica said happily. She parked the car in the large gravel lot next
to the house, and Britney noticed two other cars were there as well.
They got out and Britney grabbed her bag.
"Huh-uh! No phones allowed! Does your mom know you're with me?"
Jessica asked.
Britney nodded and put her bag back in the car. Jessica smiled.
"Awesome! Trust me, it's gonna be worth it!" Jessica said.
The sun was casting strong shadows of leaves on the ground as it
blazed through the cloudless sky onto the tall trees surrounding the
house. Britney could hear the creek in the distance, and the wind
gently rustling the branches and leaves. The temperature was very
comfortable, but warm. Britney was starting to wish she had shorts on.
"You might get hot inside, it's only ceiling fans in there, no AC,"
Jessica said as they walked up the stairs onto the front stoop.
Britney wiped the sweat off her forehead and stopped at the top as
Jessica grabbed her shoulders and spun her around.
"Whoa," Britney squeaked silently.
"I know right?" Jessica said happily.
As far as Britney could see were short green trees plants, tall trees,
bushes, hills, flowers, and all kinds of birds flying around. She
spotted another house very far away on top of a hill and she couldn't
imagine how in the world someone could get to it.
"It's very relaxing," Britney said quietly. The warm wind gently
whipped her long blond hair, which was starting to make her neck feel
hot.
"I've got some extra clothes inside if you want, you're starting to
sweat girl!" Jessica said happily as she pulled the screen door open,
and pushed the heavy white oak door.
"Hey grandma!" she announced as she walked in.
"Shoes off," she directed.
Britney pulled off her blue sneakers and Jessica kicked off her pink
flip flops.
"Jessica! My favorite granddaughter! Come give grandma a hug!" a short
skinny old woman said as she came around the corner wearing white
shorts, a tank top, and a red apron over them.
The two hugged and Jessica introduced Britney.
"Aww! You're such a cute little thing! If I didn't have any manners
I'd pinch those cute little chipmunk cheeks of yours!" she said.
"Now you just call me Margaret little missy, I don't like that formal
last name stuff!" she added.
Britney nodded and smiled.
"Well come on in girls, what brings you out here in the middle of the
week?" she asked.
Jessica filled her grandma in on Britney's problems with Krissy and
she nodded and said it sounded familiar to Jessica's problems she's
apparently been having with Lisa.
"Something's wrong with that Lisa, she's got bad energy I tell ya!
It's a shame she's influencing her little sister like that! It's quite
unfair if you ask me! It's as if she wants to suck everyone up into
that black hole of hers! She's never going to find happiness until she
stops making everyone else so miserable!" Jessica's grandmother said.
Britney couldn't believe what she was hearing. That was completely
right on target. This woman was very smart.
"You know my offer still stands if you need a little extra help dear,"
Margaret said to Jessica.
"Thanks Grammy, I hope it never comes to that, but it's good to have
you in my corner! Hopefully this year will be the last I ever see of
Lisa," Jessica said happily.
"Yes but honey, you deserve that head cheerleader position! It would
really be great for college applications! And you've worked so hard,
much harder than that girl! Her family basically bought her that
position you know Britney. Hmm! I don't like it at all, it's like the
whole family has too much power! All that money, buying up privileges
for their children! And where does that leave my poor grandchild huh?
Out in the cold, left behind with all the hard work she put in for
years!" Margaret said.
"Um, Margaret, forgive me like, but how can you be so like, interested
in teenage drama?" Britney asked, in disbelief that a woman of her age
seemed to be just as wrapped up in it as they were.
"Oh honey, I never grew up! I just experienced things and my body got
older! I'm still a kid at heart! I tell you one thing though; I sure
don't like people messing with my grandchildren, or their friends for
that matter!" Margaret said defensively.
Britney was started to sweat even more as she sat on the frilly white
couch.
"Dear why don't you put on some lighter clothes? You're sweating up a
mess! I don't want any makeup spots on my dear great-great
grandmother's couch!" she said with a smile.
Britney nodded and Jessica jumped up and jogged up the long wooden
stairs.
Margaret smiled back at her.
"Very powerful child," Margaret said quietly as she nodded her head.
"I'm sorry?" Britney asked.
"Your energy dear, I could feel it before you two were halfway up the
gravel road coming here," she said nicely.
"I um," Britney squeaked, unsure of what this woman was talking about.
"You've been through a lot recently, that I know. So many emotions,
and you have no idea how to even begin expressing them!" she hummed.
"Err, I'm uh---, how do you um---," Britney stammered.
"Oh my dear, energy is a very real thing; I'm very in touch with
everything around me. It's taken me a long time to become so grounded
and connected, and I can say this much for you, you might as well be a
fire hose that's flopping around out of control! Honey what on earth
has happened to you?" Margaret said in what was becoming a more
alarming tone.
"Here ya go!" Jessica said happily as she skipped down the stairs and
threw some clothes to Britney.
"Um, excuse me just a moment," Britney said not being able to wait to
change into something cooler.
"Restroom is right there honey, second door on the right, I'll fix us
all some lemonade how about that?" Margaret said.
Britney skipped quickly across the room and closed the restroom door
behind her.
"That's like, so crazy. She couldn't like, know could she?" Britney
whispered to herself as she sat down and peed. She shook her head at
how routine and used to using the toilet like that was. She wiped and
pulled her white panties back up, then kicked off her jeans.
"Oh man!" she quietly complained. She held up a pair of frayed small
pink shorts.
"Darn it, well, at least it's not a skirt," she said quietly as she
pulled them on. She was a little relived that they were a bit looser
than most of the clothes in her closet, but still hated having to wear
pink. She pulled off her polo shirt and dabbed her chest and the back
of her neck with a towel hanging on the wall. She started to have a
very strange feeling about Jessica's grandma, and felt weirdness in
the air of the house. It was almost creepy, yet strangely positive.
There was something very off about that woman. Britney pulled on the
white spaghetti strap tank top and noticed it had a built in bra in
it. She pulled her bra off and stopped midway as she was pulling up
the tank top.
"Goodness!" she squeaked as she noticed how sweaty her breasts were.
"I don't know how I've never experienced this before, man these things
are drenched!" she said quietly as she toweled them off. She pulled
the tank top all the way up and washed her hands. She opened the door
and walked back into the living room where a glass of cool lemonade
was waiting her. She sat down and took a few huge gulps and could feel
the cool breeze from the ceiling fan blow across her smooth legs and
arms. Jessica tossed her a pink scrunchie and she pulled her hair up
high on her head into a messy ponytail.
"Whoa girl! Slow down there, this is grandma's special lemonade! I
hope you don't mind, I was gonna warn ya first!" Jessica giggled.
"In my day we didn't need warning! It was pretty common," Margaret
said with a laugh as she took Britney's balled up clothes from her and
took them into another room.
"Um, like, special?" Britney squeaked as she took another sip.
"She puts vodka in it! It's okay, we're being supervised, you're not
mad are you? It'll help you chill out some!" Jessica said happily.
Britney felt a strange rush shoot through her. Now that she thought
about it, she had been able to taste the alcohol, and it was very
strong.
"Wow," Britney said in a surprised voice.
The other two giggled.
"I'm not mad, it's like, really cool actually, thank you," Britney
said as she smiled at Margaret.
She hadn't had alcohol in what seemed like forever. She was sort of
excited to be drinking it all of a sudden. She gulped down the rest of
the glass quickly.
"Whoa child! You keep that up and you may give old grandma here a run
for her money in a few years! Let me get ya another one!" Margaret
said with a laugh. She got up and refilled Britney's glass from a
pitcher on the table.
Jessica filled her grandma in on the boy she'd been crushing on, and
how that was going. She told her about the new dance moves they'd been
learning in cheer practices, and how Britney and Bobby had recently
become good friends.
"My grandson is a real gentleman that boy! It's no wonder though,
growing up raised by my daughter, and this little angel here!"
Margaret laughed in a sarcastic tone.
"Grandma!" Jessica complained with a laugh.
"Oh come on now, you know I love ya! But you and your mother sure do
know how to stir up some drama and get yourselves all worked up over
it! That boy knew how to calm a woman down before he could even spell
woman!" Margaret laughed.
"Well I'm sure grandpa would be very proud of him," Jessica said
slightly sadly.
"Yes he would indeed, and don't you think he's not watching down on
you all! He's got eyes like a hawk he has, and just because we can't
see him, doesn't mean he's not protecting us!" Margaret said as she
looked lovingly up at the ceiling.
Britney finished her second glass and began to feel dizzy. She wasn't
used to drinking in her tiny body and was already feeling buzzed, and
a strong urge to use the bathroom again.
"Excuse me a moment," she said quietly as she skipped to the bathroom
quickly.
She finished her business and washed her hands. She paused a moment
and stared back into her deep blue eyes. Her complexion seemed way too
smooth and perfect for an alabaster skinned teenage girl. She guessed
that she must eat pretty healthy to be so skinny and fit. She cocked
her head slightly and peered into her reflection. For the first time
since all her of changes, she felt somewhat grounded, and looking at
herself in the mirror wasn't as gut wrenching as usual. If anything,
due to how intense everything had been in her life lately, who she saw
and the place she was standing seemed closer and realer than who she
had been a few weeks prior. She shook her head violently to try to
purge the thoughts and emotions stirring around in her mind.
"That's me," she whispered, as she watched her lips move in sync with
her high pitched girly voice.
"I'm Britney Adams," she whispered quietly. She continued to stare at
herself as she felt a slightly euphoric feeling. She couldn't believe
how real everything suddenly seemed. She looked down at her small
hands and moved them back and forth, as if testing to see if they
would move on her command.
She sighed and walked out and back into the living room.
"Alright now girl, I want you to spill it all," Margaret said while
looking at Britney as she sat back down on the couch and folded her
legs beneath herself in a girly manner. She took a sip of her freshly
filled glass.
"What is it, inside of you? Something so intense I can hardly handle
it myself! I need to know dear, if for no other reason, so I can get a
grip on it!" Margaret said in a focused voice.
"I know right? Grandma I know like, I don't know much about that
stuff, but I feel it too! That's like, kind of why I brought her out
here, I thought maybe like, you could help her, she seems like, so
lost," Jessica said as she drank her lemonade.
"Talk to us dear, tell us what's going on," Margaret said in a calm,
soothing voice as she rocked back and forth in her white rocking
chair.
Britney began to feel very emotional. The air in the room seemed to
intensify, but was relaxing at the same time. She felt increasingly
euphoric and anxious. Thoughts were swirling in her head and her heart
beat was increasing as well. She felt like she had butterflies in her
stomach and like she was about to start crying.
"I---I like, I can't say anything," she squeaked quietly. A tear
trickled down from her eye and she wiped her cheek instantly.
Margaret had a concerned look on her face.
"This is a safe place dear, you can talk about anything you'd like,"
she offered.
Britney shook her head and a few more tears came out. She wanted to
say something, but she couldn't force the words out. It was like there
was an invisible wall around certain thoughts that they couldn't cross
through.
She shook her head again.
"My thoughts like, I can't get them out of my head!" she exclaimed in
a desperate whimper.
"I thought so, I thought I sensed some kind of hold on you," Margaret
said matter of factly.
"What? I don't like, I don't understand," Britney said helplessly.
"Grandma's a healer Britney, it's a real thing. It's threaded deep in
our family history," Jessica said quietly.
"A what? What like a witch doctor or something? That stuff isn't
real," Britney challenged.
Margaret laughed.
"I sense someone else. Another girl. She's bound to you somehow. You
did something to her and now you can't fix it, and you're scared,
terrified even," Margaret said plainly.
"What?! How like, how do you know this stuff? What's going on? Did
Lisa put you up to this! Oh my gosh she's here isn't she?! Oh no!
Help!"Britney screamed as she quickly stood up and made for the door.
"Sit down now!" Margaret demanded in a loud but yet still calm voice.
"Britney Lisa's not here, what like, does she have to do with
anything? I'd never bring her here, she'd bring all her negative
energy," Jessica said as she stood up.
Britney was frozen in place halfway to the door, unsure of what to do.
"Where are you going to go child? Sit back down, I'm here to help you,
not to hurt you," Margaret said.
Jessica finally reached Britney and wrapped her arms around her,
hugging her tightly.
"It's okay Britney, everything is gonna be okay," Jessica whispered
calmly as she rubbed Britney's back.
Britney burst into tears and cried into Jessica's chest.
"Shhh, it's okay sweetie, I'm here with you," Jessica whispered.
She led Britney back over to the couch and sat down next to her,
grabbing a few tissues off the table and wiping Britney's face.
Britney felt overwhelmed with emotion but now she felt a little safer
and protected.
"Thank you," Britney whispered quietly. She sniffed and wiped her
nose.
"Tell us," Margaret said in a calm low voice.
Jessica reached over and held Britney's hand. Britney started shaking
her head again.
"I told you like, I can't, like, it's impossible. The words won't come
out," Britney said quietly.
"Is it Krissy? Is that who Grandma thinks the other girl is?" Jessica
asked.
Britney tried to nod her head but couldn't.
"I think it is grandma, it's Lisa's little sister that she used to be
friends with. She's been acting really mean lately," Jessica said.
Margaret nodded her head slowly.
"I don't understand though like, what does Lisa have to do with you
though?" Jessica asked.
Britney couldn't respond.
"As soon as you started talking about the things that girl does
Jessica, I knew she was something different, from somewhere different
even. I don't know her but I have a feeling she's not at all who she
seems to be," Margaret said.
"How can you like, help me?" Britney asked.
"I don't know dear, without you being able to tell me about things,
there's very little I can do," Margaret said.
Britney nodded.
"Let me try something," she said as she stood up and walked over to
Britney. She kneeled on the ground and reached her hand out, placing
it gently on top of Britney's heart.
She sat there a few moments nodding her head slowly.
"Oh my word child!"Margaret suddenly exclaimed as she quickly pulled
her hand away and sat back down in her rocking chair, rocking back and
forth intensely.
"What?! Like, can you feel something?" Britney asked desperately.
Margaret rocked in silence, deep in thought, shaking her head in a
disapproving way.
"My goodness, I've never," Margaret said to herself softly.
Britney began to feel panicked, and scared.
"Grandma, you're scaring her!" Jessica said as she squeezed Britney's
hand tightly.
"This is, this is --- very unpleasant, I don't think I can even begin
to understand," Margaret said quietly.
"Grandma!" Jessica complained.
"Sorry dear, I'm just overwhelmed here! Never in my life have I
experienced something quite this intense," she said flatly.
Britney began to cry again.
"I'm just a little shocked, I'm going to try and help you the best I
can, I just wish you could tell me more," Margaret said as Jessica
hugged Britney again and wiped her tears.
"I knew there was something about you Britney," Jessica said quickly.
"It was just like, a few days ago that I noticed too! I've seen you
for years but never once spoken to you. But that night when I called
you into my room to talk to you about Bobby, halfway through our
conversation I began feeling very strange andyou know what? The first
thing that popped in my head was Lisa!" Jessica said. She looked over
to her grandmother and she nodded in approval.
"Who is she? What did she do to you? And, Krissy too? Please Britney,
try to tell us! We can help you!" Jessica pleaded.
Britney wiped her tears, but all she could do was shake her head.
Britney stayed silent. Eventually the conversation broke and Jessica
started talking again. Britney sat quietly on the couch and faded in

It got dark outside and they got ready to leave. Britney thanked
Margaret for her hospitality and for trying to help. She promised to
come visit her often, and that she'd let her know anything she felt
she was able to tell her.
They took off down the dark road and sped back to the city. Britney's
phone buzzed and it was a text message from Lisa.

Britney gulped deeply and texted Bobby to ask what the status of Karla

name and number.
"No, you bring her to me, now," Lisa texted back. Britney shrugged

"Do you know Karla Simmons?" Britney asked.
"Yeah, she used to do flags with my friend Julie, but she quit this
year for some rea
