roused by someone in third dimension touching his lamp. As energy flowed
from the hands of the mortal to the lamp, Sut came back from a deep
dreamless sleep and was brought back to the realization of his long
imprisonment. Sut thought "how long has it been since I was last
awakened a decade, a century, or a millennia no matter life as a slave
is still life which is better than non-existence."
Matt looked at the encrusted bowl shaped object that he picked up on the
beach, turning it over in his hands he saw it must made of copper or
some other metal that did not rust. Matt then thought of the article he
just read about how the state North Carolina had claims on any treasure
found on its shores and it was a crime to keep and not to report any
treasure found. Matt, pragmatic as always, considered giving it up but
he did not want to and he thought " NO it is mine" and he just dropped
it in his bag and headed home. Matt was not greedy, actually Matt was
very generous and he always made an effort to help anyone he could and
has all his 59 years. The only child of now long dead parents, He
graduated from UNCC with a Masters in Social. Immediately after he
graduated Matt took a job with the North Carolina Department of Health
and Human Services. Matt worked the same job for 35 years and is very
respected by his peers for his dedication to help those in need. No

personality and a poster boy for the "Good Guys Finish Last Club". As

more". So with their childless union dissolved she soon had more, their
house, 1/2 his 401k, and a new man. Matt did not resent his ex-wife's
new life he truly wished her well and Matt liked his new life in his
small house near the beach.
Sut felt his prison leave the mortal's hands and felt himself falling
back into his dreamless sleep. As sleep over took him he thought of the
many mortals he had served since his defeat and imprisonment. "Sut the
great" he laughed and drifted to sleep. Sut once the leader of the Fire
Jin had challenged the council of Jin to make him the head of the
council but was defeated by Earth and Water after they joined forces.
Sut was too powerful and proud to follow them so he was imprisoned in
the third dimension in something made to hold a little flame, a lamp a
great insult to a fire Jin. Sut would sleep in limbo of non-existence
till a mortal would touch the lamp and when the lamp is rubbed Sut is
compelled to appear cursed to serve the holder of the lamp with 3
wishes. To serve lesser beings, mortals of the third dimension was
intended to be the worst insult they could bestow on Sut.
Matt opened the door of his small home and immediately took the bag to
the kitchen table and removed the lamp. Taking a small screw driver from
his junk drawer carefully tried to pry a mollusk from the lamp. Awakened
Sut burst from the lamp in flash of cold blue light. Standing in front
of Matt in a glowing ectoplasm form Sut announced " I AM SUT OF THE FIRE
JIN THE SLAVE OF THE LAMP AND I WILL SERVE YOU WITH THREE WISHES!".
Matt could have ran or he could have fainted but what Matt did surprised
Sut he laughed. Matt besides being a pragmatist and genuinely caring
giving nice guy, he always thought that magic was real and one day he
would get to see it so why get excited.
Matt looked up at Sut and said "I am really pleased to meet you Sut of
the Fire Jin please tell how you came to be in the lamp" Sut said
"What?". Matt asked " I guess first I would like to know if you are
allowed to tell me and it is not one of my wishes.". Sut pondered his
new Master's words and his new Master and answered " I am allowed and it
is not a wish so understand Master it was punishment for the foolishness
of my youth to seek power over wisdom". Matt nodded and said "yes that
has been the failing of many in this world too.". Matt looked at the Jin
with empathetic eye and asked " can you ever be freed?" and Sut felt the
sincerity radiate from concern this mortal had for his plight and was
shocked that such a lesser being could be this noble. Sut answered " I
can never return home but I surmise that I can be freed from the lamp
but I am unsure how". Matt nodded and said " I hope that you will be
free soon and I am sorry that can never return to your home." . Looking
down at Matt Sut said " certainly you are a most strange mortal Master.
In all that I have met and have knowledge of had only wanted their
wishes filled and you have yet to speak of them.". "Oh I am not that
strange I am curious and I do want them.". Sut then said "Then know then
Master you have but three and you can not raise the dead, Make someone
love you, or kill someone." "or wish for more wishes I am sure" Matt
added. Sut looked down and laughed " Master you are most strange for a
mortal and very refreshing". Matt got up and said " I need a cup of
coffee would you like one Sut, oh can you drink." Sut just nodded with a
shocked look on his face.
Matt returned with two steaming cups of coffee on a try with sugar and
Half and Half and said "Sut I did not know how you would like it so help
yourself". Sut with a look of utter awe of this man in front of him took
the cup and put 8 spoons of sugar in it. Matt said "you Fire Jens like
it sweet I see, it make sense though fire would burn a lot of
calories". Sut smiled as he took his first sip of coffee and said "thank
you Master it has been a long time since I had such a pleasure. Master
have you decided on your first wish?" Matt nodded but said " lets
finish our coffee first" Sut almost dropped his cup at that. As Sut set
down his empty cup he said " Master makes very good coffee and it is the
first I had since cursed to the lamp" Matt said " please let me know if
there is anything else you would like". Sup said " Master I thank you
and I wish I could help you with what to wish but I am forbidden but
please wish well for it would grieve me greatly for one as you to be
hurt by my Magic.". Matt then wished " Sut I wish that I have the magic
power to instantly change individuals lives truly for the better".
When the magic settled they still sat there at Matt's table and Sut said
"GRANTED wisest of the wise. Master you worded that wish perfectly by
adding "truly" your new power will perform as desired." Matt looked at
the Jen and said " wish two I wish for the ability to change reality so
true justice and prevail." SUT thundered " GANTED I am so happy that you
will know only joy from my magic Master so be just as careful with your
last wish.". Sut knew sadness at the thought of Matt's last wish knowing
this mortal would be long dead when he would be called from the lamp
again. Matt stood up then and said "wish three SUT I WISH THAT YOUR FREE
OF THE LAMP!"
The room shook with thunder and the lamp disappeared in a flash of green
light leaving Sut standing there in a full congealed form with Matt
looking on. Matt broke the silence and asked " How are you Sut are you
ok" and Sut answered " I AM FREE, thank you Matt I will always be in
your debt." Then the world blinked out and Matt found himself standing
on a mountain top surrounded by an alien night sky with strange moons
and nebulas clouds. Matt thought " this is interesting" and a voice
boomed "you think this is interesting mortal we will see how
"interesting" you think it is when you are punished for setting the
traitor Sut free." Matt looked up and answered " it was my wish and I
knew of no restriction that prevented me wishing for Sut's freedom." .
The mountain top that Matt stood on quaked as the word "silence" boomed
in Matt's ears. Matt looked up as he heard the voices debt his fate. One
said "just destroy this thing" another said " lets torture him for
eternity" and yet another said " no, as always you two don't have any
flair for irony. remember how Sut begged for us not to hurt this mortal
and how different he said was." "yes" they answered in unison. The
commanding voice continued, as Matt listened intently " We condemned Sut
to remain in the third dimension stripped of most his power so why not
bind this one to him." Matt wondered how that would be worst than death
or an eternity of torture. Matt was reminded they heard his thoughts by
a booming laughter and the being saying " because of Sut's fiery nature
and his revulsion of being bound to such a lesser creature, a great
insult indeed. I can only imagine the cruelty you will endure generated
by Sut's rage at this and although he is weakened he still has power
enough to make it very "interesting" for you I am sure. ".
The world blinked out again for Matt and reformed into a white sandy
beach with palm trees blowing in the wind and a tall naked man standing
looking out over the ocean. Matt shouted "Sut is that you.?" and the man
turned to him and said "yes it is me to my shame". Matt looked at Sut he
was tall and tanned extremely hansom man of his mid twenties completely
naked. Sut shouted at Matt "see what your wish has done to me and I can
never escape the shame now that they have bound you to me." . Matt tried
to calm Sut " Sut please calm down and think you are free and you can do
what ever you want now even though you are weaker and locked in human

coming from Matt to Sut and Sut laughed " those prideful idiots never
thought to examine your first two wishes and remove them from you".
Matt understood what Sut was saying that he still had what he asked for
and he just used magic to improve Sut's life for the better. Matt said "
that is great Sut so all good now and by the way where are we?" Sut
answered we are on an island in the South Pacific but all is not good
you see, we can never be separated and I still am a Fire Jen although
locked in this human body weakened still very powerful and worst yet I
now have human needs and desires.". Matt pondered what that meant and
asked " so you need food and water that should not be a problem I guess
and say what are you still able to do can you like make things appear
and maybe teleport us home?". Sut even in their currant situation had
to laugh at Matt's level personality and answered " yes I need to eat
now and yes I still can do many things. But no I have no desire to take
us "home" most humans disgust me as I said you are the only one I can
abide.". Matt said " ok we can work on your people skills but first can
you make a house here something with air and running water?". The air
shimmered slightly and a very nice large stucco villa appeared on the
beach and Matt said "good work".
Matt entered the house and looked around and saw it was like those
vacation homes in gated resorts he had visited with his ex on their 20th
anniversary wood floors, stone counter tops, stainless refrigerator
full of food even a flat screen TV. Matt wondered what they could get
on the TV on this island so he turned it on and to his surprise it was
rerun on HBO of True Blood. Matt watched as Sookie and Vampire Bill was
screwing out each others brains out and started to change the channel to
see what else was on when Sut grabbed the control. Matt was amused how
intent Sut was on watching two on the screen making like bunnies till he

to do as I ask". Matt answered "yes" and just then realized what and who
he was dealing with and tried to qualify his answer saying " we just
need to get off this island and find you a woman".
Sut smiled seeing Matt caught his intent and said "no need to do that
Matt like I said you are the only human I can stand to be around and we
are bound for all time so this is the best option." Matt continue to
back as his clothes vanished and he froze in place then Sut turned to
the TV and said "show me unclothed women". At Sut's command started

said "enough" and the screen went dark. Sut turn and faced Matt still a
