"Commander, we have a flash message from the Council of First Beings,"
said my Aide as I stepped into my office for the morning. I picked up the
communication crystal and went to my desk, then pressed the security
switch to make my office secure from everyone else before I slid the
crystal into the decoder wondering what was about to happen now.
The Holo display lit up and I found myself viewing the entire Council
minus Ash' Nihau Creed. In her place was now Sylvia Winterbourne.
Standing beside her was her brother Crylon Regent and his O'shawi wife
Tangie.
"Please join us Commander," stated Sylvia. And then I felt the slight
fuzziness that always accompanied a Bio-Ship Teleportation.
"I'm here," I said stepping into the midst of the Council meeting.
"I know we promised you and your troops a bit of Down Time," began
Astrid.
"Where and When, and how dire is the situation?" I asked knowing that
they wouldn't be calling me if they didn't think they needed my forces.
"To the point, I like that," smiled the First Dragon in his human form.
"There are two possibly three groups engaged in hostilities along Icarus'
route here," began Tangie. "We do not know exactly how big this conflict
is, but it is imperative that a solution to the situation be found before
First and Second Home can be reunited."
"Local Assets?" I asked expecting to hear 'None'.
"There are three Locust ships maintaining a stealth presence. They will
update you, and work for you once you reach the section," stated Crylon.
I remembered that he had redesignated them as Locust's so everyone would
stop reading them as hostile.
"Myself and a select group of Bio-Ships will accompany you to make the
Phase Jumps easier on your ships and crews," stated Hub. "I am not
sending any unarmed ships against I'shiwi, U'shiwi and possibly E'shiwi
forces."
"Exactly what is it you expect us to do?" I asked. The three named
possible combatants all ended with 'shiwi' and that sounded as if they
might be more of the Ancients we'd never heard of.
"Establish peace. Form a Communications Bridge between First and Second
Home, and help those who wish to live in peace," stated Ariel the First
Unicorn.
"This is the area you will be going into," it was freaking huge. I
counted almost ten Quadrants and a Black Hole.
"The current hostilities are in the parallel beyond the Black Hole. We
are contracting the Equinox to accompany the Hammers Den for your troops
to have a bit of entertainment. But you will have fourteen days before
your Ships need to begin vectoring for the Jump Points."
"Thank you I'll begin the recall right away," I said.
"Commander, we have faith in you. Especially after the way that you
handled Earta." I looked over at Astrid's comment. "I'm sending General
Cling and the Seventh Hive Army with you. Do not underestimate the
U'shiwi, they were Natural Phase Jumpers."
"Thank you Ma'am," I liked Cling. He was funny, but very down to
business. More he'd saved my ass a few times in the Earta Quadrant and I
knew I could count on him to take over if anything happened to me in the
field. Also all of my subordinate Commanders knew that he often acted on
my behalf, and trusted his orders.
I had to smile inwardly, not many people outside of the Council knew that
the Seventh Hive Army were from the seventh Translucent Hive under Gypsy.
I knew that Jerome would be happy, he enjoyed kicking ass with the Phase
Spiders.

In my office again I picked up my phone and called Communications Ops.
"Mina, initiate a full Recall. I want all the Field Commanders and Fleet
Commanders in the conference room in the next hour," I told her.
"In Person or Virtual?" she asked.
"Virtual will be fine for now. And get me an update on the Forlorn Hope's
Overhaul status. We have a few really long jumps ahead of us." I ended
the call then called Astrogation.
"Colonel Pezz, I want you in my office now. And bring a blank Star Map
Matrix."
"We don't have any blanks," he said.
"Then contact the Seekers Council and get a couple. You have the Regents
Authority to request and to obtain them," I told him. "Now move, I have
some critical charts that we need to be able to upload to the Fleet in
the next hour."
I unsecured my office and stepped out to my Aides desk.
"Ma'am, are we going to get a chance to go to Stephie's Grand Opening?"
"Yes and in the meantime I want you to go over to S-2 and get me
everything you can find on the E'shiwi, I'shiwi and the U'shiwi." "And
Uma, you have my Authority to use my name and to be demanding, I want the
information delivered to me, by you, understand?"
Uma was new and tended to let others run over the top of her. But she was
Kim Yuna's niece and I liked her.
She swallowed hard, "Yes Ma'am."
"Good now go exercise those railroad tracks and your Commanders Aid
Flash," I told her. "We have a Command meeting in less than an hour."
I looked up as Jerome and Link came barreling into my office.
"What's happening?" they started at the same time.
"Have they finished the conversions of the Choppers? Can they now
function as close in support for the Combat Shuttles?"
"Hell those babies can launch from the Space Carriers and ride herd all
the way in," said Jerome.
"Yeah and they still look just like the originals, just a bit larger,"
finished Link.
"How's Tawny doing at USAMAPS?" (U S Army Military Academy Prep-School) I
changed the subject as I asked about the daughter they shared with
Joanne.
"Cadet Lt Powers is excelling in all of her classes. And no, the Earth
Academy still has no idea who she is," stated Jerome. "Are you really
going to let her go to West Point?"
"The question is, are you two and Joanne going to let her go? She has the
scores. And she also has the open slot left by Tawny that would also let
her into the Air Force Academy." I pointed out.
I wasn't about to tell them that I already had copies of her disciplinary
records. She'd been in more fist fights establishing and maintaining her
superiority over other cadets. Plus she'd minced words with a few
instructors to prove her points about their Tactics. The girl was a
scrapper. And just like her fathers she should probably, 'Be sealed in
stasis with a warning, Reactivate only in time of war.' That comment had
come from Army Chief of Staff, General Noah, the only one on Earth who
knew who she really was. If she didn't get into any more trouble this
year she would be going to West Point next year on the Three Percent
List. Of course for her it would actually be the One Percent List, she'd
be the only seventeen year old at the Point.
"Rumor has it we're taking Followers of the Way along," said Jerome
jerking me out of my thoughts.
"My baby sister will be with us aboard the Forge Hammer," I grinned at
him.
"What about the Iron Maiden," asked Link?
"She stays in reserve along with the rest of the Heavy Armor until we see
what we're getting into. But I don't think we'll be needing them in a
space conflict." I smiled seeing their eyes light up.
"That's right, you'll get a chance to earn those pretty 'Star Jump'
Wings." I grinned. Star Jumpers could jump in an EVA Combat suit from one
moving Star ship to another. They also had Atmospheric Drop Wings for
dropping from a space ship to land on the surface of a planet. I sure
hoped we didn't have to do any Drops, they were pretty costly in troops.
Just like parachute drops. You were almost helpless, you were also in the
air a hell of a lot longer.
"So who are we going to be fighting?" asked Kim Yuna. As she and
Dominique finally joined us on our way to the Command Briefing.
I held back my answer until I knew the room was sealed.
"The three Exiled Family groups of the Ancients," dead shocked silence
followed. "But we may have two groups of allies in the mix."
"Is this why all the Phase Spiders are freaking out?" asked Joanne.
"Yes and the Translucent Seventh Hive is going with us. General Cling is
going to command them. Plus there are an as yet, undetermined number of
Bio-Ships going along," I met everyone's gaze.
Colonel Pezz arrived on the tail of Captain Uma.
"Pezz, Copy this to the Matrix. Uma, tell us what we need to know," I
directed.
She was nervous at the beginning, but soon realized that everyone was
paying attention. She ended her briefing with a hell of a lot more
confidence than she'd started with.
"Joanne I'm sorry but you aren't going on this one," I told her. "And
neither is Mina. I suspect there will be a lot of ship to ship combat, I
need you two back here to hold the fort."
Mina had a secret she wasn't telling anyone about yet, and I wasn't going
to take a chance on Tawny becoming an Orphan. I just had a really bad
feeling about things. Of course I didn't have to worry about my
granddaughter Tawny 'Z' now that Deedee had retired. Of course we almost
lost Deedee on Earta Prime, but she was recovering. She was actually
teaching at IMA this year and enjoying being a Mom.
We talked about troops available, transports, and equipment. Then I gave
them the departure window. I was leaving with the advanced party in four
days, after I went to Stephie's Grand Opening of the Luna Lounge.
I began getting ready to leave, Yuna would be staying behind to
coordinate here. Dominique would be in the Advance Party but she'd be
aboard 'Spook Hunter' our Electrics Warfare ship that she'd developed
during our time in the Earta Quadrant. It had started out as a Skecksies
Command and Control ship, but she'd stormed it along with the Phase
Spider Queen 'Lovey' and now it was reprogrammed and one of ours. But
every one of our technicians agreed that it had not been completely
developed by the Skecksies. Spook Hunter had a central Matrix controlling
the electronics portions. More, since its liberation, Dominique had spent
a good deal of her time aboard overseeing the reconstructions.
I looked at the calendar and realized we were going to miss the Opening
of the Intergalactic Roller Coaster in four weeks. I had a lot of troops
that had been hoping to take their kids, including my granddaughter
Tawny.
Oh how I wanted to ride that monstrous Scream Machine with my
Granddaughter. I had to admit that there was a little kid inside of me
trying to get out. I sure hoped that this would turn out to be a very
short and peaceful mission.

Opening night had been a blast, and then my sisters had showed up. I only
remembered bits and pieces of what happened at Missy's, but it had all
been good for us. I was slowly remembering more and more of it, but I
couldn't complain. I'd needed it, that bit of unrestrained relaxation. It
was the first I'd had since my honeymoon with Top up at his cabin. Now I
felt more at peace, more calm than ever before.

Spook Hunter had just lifted off, and I was there telling Mina not to
overdo things while I was away when she rushed up to me.
"Tanty Steph, hurry back," she wrapped her arms around my hips. Then
looking up into my eyes she said, "Bring my Mommy home to me. Please
don't leave her out there."
"I promise Monique, I'll bring your Mommy home," I said as I hugged her
before she ran off into the crowd of well-wishers.
"I'll keep an eye on her, Momma," promised Mina.
Monique was Dominique's ten year old daughter. Her pride and joy. She'd
been rescued from the Palace Farm when we'd raided it with Maddie Grey
and her Associates.
There was no doubt in anyone's mind that the girl was a genius. At ten
she had already scored the highest on the MCAT's than anyone else on
base. She was of course being home schooled, but I knew Dominique hadn't
pushed her this hard. In fact Dominique had been pushing to try and get
her to slow down and take her time to just have fun and be a kid. She'd
tried sending her to school with the other kids on post, but the teachers
were intimidated by a grade schooler reading medical books during her
free time.
I'd asked her one day when we were alone in Dominique's office why she
was studying Neuro Surgery procedures and she said it was so she could
help people like her Mommy. It hadn't been the first I'd heard about
Dominique's blackouts, but with medication she had it under control.
Now as I boarded Forge Hammer for the short trip up to Hub I found myself
deep in thought. Dominique had never been aboard one of the Bio-Ships as
Yuna and I had. Both Yuna and I had over time had our DNA adjusted so
that we no longer needed HRT. We'd also experienced repairs to our vision
and hearing. Neither of us needed glasses anymore and we could hear
things being whispered in other rooms.
It had taken a while for Yuna and I to stop being suspicious of
Dominique. And by the time we'd discovered Wanderer, we hadn't really
thought about her not wanting to go aboard as we had. If she'd gone
aboard, Wanderer could have probably fixed whatever it was causing her
Blackouts I thought. Blackouts that she'd managed to hide from everyone
until we were in the Earta Quadrant.
Now we had a Command Meeting scheduled aboard Hub, I wondered if she
would join us or attend by Holo from Spook Hunter.

Our little fleet had jumped to the outer edge of Demonian Space, breaking
down into three separate sections so that each one was close enough to
support the others but not so close that we disrupted the Quadrant around
us when our meeting finally took place.
The last to arrive were Lovey and Dominique.
"Sorry to keep everyone waiting," apologized Lovey offering no
explanation. I did however notice that the Phase Spiders present were
studying Dominique closely, but why?
"We will be reaching the outer edges of the I'shiwi quadrant in one
week," announced Hub. We need to send an advanced scouting party to make
contact with the ships left in the area by Crylon.
"Lone Wolf will," began Dominique before she suddenly spaced out on us.
Her eyes glazing over as she slumped in her seat. As I looked at her, she
looked fuzzy around the edges. What was happening?
I was trying to figure out which ship was named Lone Wolf.
"Dominique, Dominique, come back to us please," began Lovey as she
hovered over her protectively. The lighting in the room had gone from a
soft white to a pulsing red as Cling moved towards the pair.
Now Lovey was in full Protective Queen Mode as she commanded the other
Spiders to stay away. I could see her straining, shimmering then
stopping. She was trying to jump but being inhibited.
"Grandchild?" questioned Gypsy. "Why did you not tell us that she is
I'shiwi?"
"Because you would react just the way you are now," answered the young
Queen. "She has no control over what her ancestors did. She only wants
peace."
"If she wants peace why has she never shown her true self?" asked Hub.
"She cannot shift, someone has inhibited her abilities," stated Lovey.
Suddenly a brain scan holo was displayed.
There were three tiny bits of metal imbedded in her brain. Every First
Being present studied the image. Finally Sylvia said, "We will make her
comfortable until she wakes up. Perhaps we can find a way to remove
them."
"Not without killing her in the process, we won't," stated Ariel. "These
were done at or very soon after her birth, and I have no idea what the
effects would be in removing something that has been in place for three
hundred years. The nerves they were placed on have grown around them
causing pressure on other nerves."
Now I understood why Monique was studying Neuro Surgery, she was hoping
to find a way to save her Momma. But had Ariel just read her true age?
Could she really be three centuries old?
'No not her Momma, her Mother,' was in my head. I looked over at Lovey.
Now I had even more of Dominique's memories, the flood slowed down as it
reached the very beginning. Waking up, seeing the faces of Skecksies
above her.
Her parents being allowed to live until they were no longer needed to run
the ship. The ships name was Lone Wolf, an Exploration vessel of the
I'shiwi, now in the hands of Skecksies.
The memories jumped forward and I realized that the earlier memories had
been taken from the Matrix that ran Spook Hunter. I also realized that
Spook Hunter was originally Lone Wolf.
'They wiped her memories before they sold her to one of the Janet Riggs
clones.' Her next memory was of Nokie Doru, who had his own plans of
conquest. He hid her at the Palace Farm, where they were creating clones.
But during his absence she escaped, and somehow ended up in Russia.
Her high intelligence skyrocketed her into that countries Intelligence
Service. But she was always searching for something she couldn't
remember. And then she'd met me during our mission to Cambodia.
Standing atop the cliff, seeing Mina clinging to me had jogged something.
She had a child, a child created from her own self. That was why she'd
been there in the jungles interrogating POW's, she was searching for the
Palace. A place she'd escaped from, yet couldn't remember, but why
couldn't she remember?
Seeing Mina, she was afraid to tell anyone of her past.
And then we'd joined forces, we'd not set up our new base in the Triangle
until after we'd discovered the Palace Farm. Dominique had been the one
to convince us to use the Triangle and now I understood why. She was
blacking out every time she left, but we'd all assumed it was because of
Monique that she was staying at the base. We were only partially correct.
Monique was her child, cloned entirely from her own DNA and they both
knew it. But Monique had learned to use the Triangle long before we met
Wanderer. She'd brought in a Surgeon to remove the implant that triggered
the memory loss any time Dominique left the Triangle, but she still
suffered from periodic Blackouts.
Now we understood the original Implants, Implants that were not only
inhibiting her ability to shift or to use her I'shiwi abilities, were
decaying. To remove them though would trigger the charge in yet another
that was designed to explode, killing her instantly. The result would
look like a Massive Stroke to a Forensic Pathologist.
This latest Blackout had been triggered by being aboard Hub.
I was debating on having Lovey take her home when she woke up asking for
me.

I was aware of the tears in my eyes as I took hold of her hand.
"You know?" she asked me.
"Yes Dom, I know. We'll get you home to Monique, I promise."
"Steph no, please I don't want her to be there when it happens. We both
know there is nothing she can do to stop it. It is only a matter of time
now," she said.
"Why didn't you ever say anything?" I wanted to know.
"Because disclosure to someone who didn't already know was one of the
triggers. And I wanted as much time as possible with Monique," she
answered.
"Honey she needs to have closure, she needs all the time she can get with
you," I told her.
"I, there is something important about where we're going. I just can't
remember what it is. But I think I've been there before."
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Those star charts, they were already in Spook Hunters memory banks, that
ship, my ship has been there before. That is why I have to go there."
"They might know how to remove the implants," I realized out loud.
I left her to rest, Hub was assuring me that he was doing everything
possible for her.
"Commander?" I looked up to see Major Pezz. "Spook Hunter keeps trying to
vector away from the rest. He's actually charted a route and input data
for several Phase Jumps."
"Where to?" I asked as I alerted Hub and the rest. Galaxia was already
preparing to go back to the Iridani System. As an unarmed ship she was to
stay clear of any possible harm.
"Every jump is to a Black Hole. Each route ends in something called the
Tran System. But it is in the same space as the one occupied by the
U'shiwi. It's a back door entrance to that system," he said.
I started to ask why Spook Hunter would be doing that, then I remembered
that it had been a Skecksies ship before we got it. And Dominique said it
had been her parent's ship before that, Lone Wolf.
"Hub, Astrid, I need to go to Spook Hunter to talk to the ship," I said
to the air.
"May I come with you?" asked Sylvia.
"Of course you may," I began only to finish as we materialized on the
bridge.
Pezz was frantically trying to stop yet another course change.
"Spook?" I prompted for attention.
"Commander, please talk to this fool. My name is Lone Wolf, not Spook
Hunter and I am trying to save Dominique Lunissa's life, she is my
Rightful Mistress," stated the ship.
"How do you plan to save her life?" I requested, distracting the ship
momentarily.
"I know where we need to go to reach the facility where the implants were
placed in her head," he hesitated a moment. "But I will require Monique
to perform the Surgeries."
"Why do you need her?" I asked.
"No one here, is capable of learning at the rate she can to perform the
operation."
True the child seemed to absorb knowledge the second she came into
contact with it.
"Pezz, contact Sky Bender, I want Monique here as soon as possible."
"Lone Wolf, begin telling me about our destination," I commanded.
"It is a Mirror image of one in the Earth Quadrant. The planets even have
the same names. It was conquered by the Skecksies who made a deal with
the few U'shiwi left in control who provide them with Transgenders to
create more of their kind. Their goal was to overthrow Cylon and control
'all' the regions of space."
"And why are you just now telling us?" I had to know.
"Because only two days ago Dominique was able to retrieve my memories,
and unlock my Matrix. She is my rightful Mistress."
I knew that Hub and the rest were hearing it also.
"Commander, we will continue through on our present course. You will
take, Lone Wolf, and as many as he feels he needs and locate that
facility. We are transferring Dominique to you now." directed Astrid.
"Lovey, you will go along with the fifth Hive."
"Transferring Star Command to Lone Wolf."
"Jerome, you know what to do," I told him. "You're in command in my
absence."

"Stephanie, where are we?" asked Dominique.
"Aboard your ship, on our way to shoot a black hole to the Tran System,"
I answered squeezing her hand.
"Don't worry, we won't let them get away to do this to anyone else,"
assured Lovey. "And we are going to get those things out of your head."
I sat studying the star charts on Lone Wolf's display there were three
currently up with the plotted course displayed. But there was something
wrong with the course plot, I could feel it. My biggest concern here was,
could we fully trust a ship that had once been a Skecksies C&C ship?
The jump from our 'Quadrant Cluster' as the Bio-Ships called them, to the
next was near a planet called Cloud Three. There was a distortion there
and on full magnification I realized it had the same readings as a Black
Hole. But there wasn't any Black Hole there.
"Wolf overlay the charts," I finally requested.
And there it was, Cloud Three was Cloud Six in the next, and Cloud Nine
in the last. Suddenly there was another Quadrant displayed, Cloud Twelve.
But Cloud twelve was located near Star Commands first Destination, 'Exile
Sanctuary'. The planet names were different I realized because of the
difference between the races they had been taken from. But there was a
Cloud System in each Quadrant Cluster.
Cloud Eighteen was the beginning edge of the O'shawi Cluster. But what
did it all mean?
I hadn't been aware of her presence until she finally spoke behind me.
"That System is a Quadrant Cluster Pyramid," Lovey sounded absolutely
amazed.
"What?" I asked.
"It's a pyramid. The center focuses the energy of the Black Holes that
are linked to form it," she tried to explain.
Seeing my confusion she said, "The Triangles in each Quadrant are linked
together. Allowing you to go from one universe to the next."
"Yes they draw off the Energy created within the planets core," I gave
the explanation we'd gotten from Wanderer.
"Travel from one Cluster to the next can be achieved by use of the
Pyramid. The focal point in the exact center between four Black Holes.
You just have to know which direction you are traveling."
"Just like in the triangle," I finally realized. Your direction of travel
into or out of a Tringle governed where you ended up.
Now I heard her chuckling. "Cloud in the original language of the
Ancients means Cluster."
No wonder the course plot looked like it almost doubled back on itself in
two places. Our current course was taking us out to approach Cloud Nine
at a different Vector than the rest of the fleet. We weren't actually
going into the Black Hole. We were just using its energy to activate the
Cluster Pyramid from a different angle.
"Yes, that's why the Freeway ends at the Cloud system," Lovey stated.
"And why the O'shawi Railroad ends at Cloud Eighteen."
The sun at the center of the Cloud system was the focal point of the Back
Holes in each Quadrant Cluster.
Then I remembered, my sister Missy's family was taking a convoy to the
planet Cloud Nine in this Cluster. They were delivering the components
for a new Observatory and Interstellar Communications Array. And it was
Cloud Nine in our Destination Cluster that we were headed for. Cloud Nine
was also located at the edge of the Tran Quadrant, but that Quadrant had
no name in this Cluster, it was completely unexplored being at the end of
the Freeway.
If the Skecksies had discovered the Triangle that meant they were a
bigger threat than anyone knew about.

"Lone Wolf, this is Sky Bender. We are three minutes away and closing,"
called out the ship's captain.
Lovey had shared our discovery with the rest of the Bio-Ships and they
had quickly realized that they could shorten their own journey to reach
Exile Sanctuary in one massive jump.
Lone wolf had plotted our needed jump vector now that we understood how
to manage it better. And we were now turning on a new plot that would let
Sky Bender intercept and follow us through to emerge in the Tran Quadrant
of the Ninth Cluster.
As the time seemed to inch by I asked Lone Wolf for the name of the
facility we were headed for.
"We are going to contact the exiled Loki, Norie Doru. She is a Neuro
Scientist who was exiled after discovering that her father was using her
research to help Janet Riggs to implant the Termination capsules in the
Tank Race that she was creating for her Loki mother, Doru and the Rogue
Queen, Ruby" stated Lone Wolf.
Dead silence fell across the bridge as every trooper now turned to look
at me.
"Norie Doru?" I asked a bit forcefully as Sky Bender matched our vector.
"As in sister to Nokie Doru?"
"Yes is that not what I just said?"
"How is it that you know all of this again?" I asked.
"Norie was exiled after it was discovered that the Termination Capsule
placed in Dominique's head could not be remotely activated from a
distance. I was the ship used to transport her into exile on Cloud Nine.
Then I was sent to the Earta Quadrant so that Cylon would never find out
what Doru was up to," stated the ship.
Even as we started our jump run Monique transported aboard to be at her
mothers side. We still had two more jumps to make, but time was running
out, the breakdown of the capsules was causing problems, and the erosion
of the shell around the termination capsule would soon trigger its
detonation.
"Momma, I'm here. I won't leave you," promised Monique.
