XXVI. The great escape. One could imagine a thousand things going wrong, but there was no hitch at the hospital. Their quickly improvised charade worked like a charm. Walt's performance as Phoebe's concerned but understandably angry father was spot-on. Marcia, in her supporting role as distraught mom, hadn't had to act at all. There were the usual papers and forms to sign, a brief interview with a representative from the Chupadero police department and another with a representative from Child Services, and half-a-dozen other official procedures that had to be gotten through. At several points, Marcia began to despair that they'd ever be permitted to leave. But then, just like that, Phoebe was discharged. As they crossed the parking lot to Walt's pickup, Marcia kept expecting an authoritative voice behind them to order them to stop. Under his breath, Walt muttered, "Just act normal. Keep walking until the bullets start flying. Then run like hell." He was joking, of course, but he'd caught Marcia's feelings exactly. Phoebe, treating the entire episode as something of a lark, started whistling, comically pantomiming normality. They piled into the truck like they were making a get-away from a bank heist. It was mostly in fun but they didn't truly breathe a sigh of relief until they were back onto the interstate. Later they would come to call it their "Great Escape," and it would forever after form the basis of a lasting bond between them. Phoebe hadn't been happy to discover that Marcia had come. It registered on the girl's face the instant she'd seen Marcia in the interview room. Phoebe felt that Walt had betrayed her, broken his promise, but she was resigned to the situation. He'd come through, that was the important thing. And to be honest, she hadn't really expected him to keep his promise in the first place. What adult ever did? Anyway, if she'd had a choice, if it had to be one or the other, Phoebe would have chosen Marcia over her mom. Her mom could be a real nightmare in situations like this. If Phoebe could admit it to herself, she'd have to admit that she was even secretly pleased that Walt had lied, that Marcia had come. It was just the sort of promise that real parents would break, wasn't it? They didn't linger in Chupadero any longer than the local traffic laws demanded. They waited until they were a good fifty miles down the road before stopping for gas and cold bottled drinks at a convenience station rest stop. No one talked much. Walt and Marcia said a few words to each other in the front seat of the cab. Phoebe sat in the back, half-dozing. She knew that the questions were coming, she was resting up for them, thankful that they weren't coming now. Somewhere down the road she'd have a lot to answer for. Right now, she was happy for the reprieve and the blank sunburned scenery outside her window. They spent the night again at The Cactus Inn. Walt half-jokingly suggested that having survived serial murder there one night, it was pretty good odds they'd might survive it again. Phoebe argued for adjoining rooms. Without saying it in so many words, she tried to make the argument about how creepy it was to sleep in the same room as your parents even under the most ordinary of circumstances with the most conventional of parents. Marcia sympathized, but there was no way she was going to let Phoebe out of her sight now, not that she thought a repeat performance likely, but still. So they rented a room with two beds and Walt requested a cot thrown in as well. The desk clerk was the same as the one on duty the day before. Simply out of habit, he seemed about to declare Walt's request impossible to satisfy, caught Walt's warning look, reconsidered, and hunted one down. The desk clerk might have thought he was only avoiding a beating; he seemed genuinely surprised at the generous tip he earned for his extra effort. Walt slept on the cot. He set it up by the door. He claimed it was a good vantage place from which he could watch the pickup. And any midnight intruders would cause quite a racket tripping over him, giving Marcia and Phoebe just in enough time to run screaming for their lives. "Not funny Walt," Marcia said. "What can I say," he shrugged. "My career isn't in comedy." They were all up early, dressed, showered, and ready to get back on the road before eight. No one cared to linger. No one slept well. Walt especially. He spent the first half-hour after getting up trying to work the kinks the rickety cot had tied in his back. While the girls finished getting ready, he stomped around the parking lot in circles. Phoebe had gone outside to have a smoke. Looking from the window, Marcia saw her daughter and Walt in animated conversation. She couldn't imagine what they might be discussing. At times, the discussion seemed to turn intense. At one point, Phoebe, appearing frustrated, threw her cigarette on the ground and ground it out emphatically under her shoe. Later, when Marcia had the chance, she didn't ask what they'd been discussing. There seemed more than enough to deal with at the moment. She noted, however, with relief, that when Phoebe had returned to the room after her conversation with Walt, her daughter seemed to be in a lighter mood than she had since they left the hospital, more relaxed, even uncharacteristically chatty. They were all feeling a little more expansive, a little more at ease with each other. They had breakfast at one of the ubiquitous pancake houses that lined the desert interstate. Walt had the Prospector's Golden Deluxe--a three-cheese omelet consisting of what looked like at least a half-dozen eggs that cemented together a m?lange of bacon, sausage, onions, green peppers, fried potato cubes and god-only-knew-what-else. Included were a short stack of pancakes and a small loaf of buttered toast. "You should win a t-shirt at least if you can finish that thing," Marcia said. "A coupon for discount cardiac care," Phoebe suggested. Walt plowed through about half of it and declared himself "sufficiently full." Marcia had ordered the cantaloupe and cottage cheese. Like mother, like daughter, Phoebe ordered the same. They both turned their heads to follow a chocolate chip pancake platter covered with a peak of whipped cream that passed by, destined for some lucky diner without an eating disorder. Walt urged them to order it for themselves. "Come on. It's a special day. Treat yourself." He pointed to his own place. "Look at me, I'm eating half a barnyard here." Marcia made Phoebe an offer. "Split it?" "Deal." Walt flagged down the waitress and told them to change their order. Even splitting the breakfast-dessert, they didn't manage to finish the whole thing, but it was a start. Breakfast solidified their uplifted mood. The pancake house was the type that had a gift shop attached, a faux country-store that sold handmade candy, country crafts, aprons, kitchenware, cookbooks, and reproduction vintage toys. Walt bought them all t-shirts. Phoebe rolled her eyes at the goofiness of it all but went right along with it when Walt suggested that they all put them on right over what they were wearing. It was so stupid and corny that it seemed a cool thing to do. They were still wearing them when they stopped for lunch a few hours later. Phoebe thought they must look just like one of those dopey families from Sticksville who wear the same clothes when visiting the big city so they don't get separated from each other. She'd always made fun of those seemingly super-normal families, but having never been in one, she thought it might be fun to give it a try just once. How often did she get a chance to be "normal"? People seeing them would smile condescendingly, thinking, how cute, how corny. The fact that they weren't really "normal" made it that much more fun. It was their little secret. "You know what I always wanted to do?" Phoebe said when they were back in the truck. "What honey?" Marcia asked, gazing out the window. She was trying to put a name to what she was feeling. Then it came to her, with a shock: it was perfect happiness. "I always wanted to be on a family road trip and sing 99 bottles of beer on the wall. Just like they do on TV." "You're kidding." "Nope." It was Walt who started them off. "Ninety-nine bottles of beer on the wall, ninety-nine bottles of beer-eer, if one of those bottles should happen to fall..." "Ninety-eight bottles of beer on the wall!" Phoebe chimed in, and Marcia, shrugging, surrendering to the inevitable, added her voice to the mix. They got it down to sixty-three bottles, their voices already wavering. At least, sighing, Phoebe offered the observation that it wasn't nearly as much fun as it looked like on television. "It's really a lot of work after a certain point, isn't it?" Marcia agreed. "Well, we can always pick up where we left off later, I suppose." "Is that allowed? That's not against the rules?" "Rules?" Walt said, scoffing at the mere notion. "In this car, we make up our own rules." Marcia glanced over at Walt. He gave her a sidelong wink. Walt turned the on radio and they lapsed into an agreeable silence, interrupted only now and again by something of interest one or another of them spotted as it flashed by along the roadside. A cactus. A billboard. An eight-foot-tall steer made of junk car parts. In the east, the sky was already going purple and a star or two was shining. They weren't far from home now. It looked like they'd reach Hope Crossing just before it was full-on dark. * * * * Author note: I plan to publish "Patchwork People" in its entirety in weekly installments here on Fictionmania. In the meantime, the complete novel is currently available as an Amazon Kindle ebook for $2.99. A sissy called Jezebel Part XXVI

A sissy called Jezebel Part XXVI- Jezebel is sissynapped, a fairly common and often light hearted tradition in the Matriarchy, but this 'napping' takes a serious turn. My wrists are tied behind my back and I am led away. I am picked up and go over someone's shoulder, as I am taken down steps to the parking lot. I grunt with each step. Of course I don't resist, sissy-napping is pretty common. It is the moral equivalent of driving ten miles over the speed limit. I've been...

Patchwork People IV The Big Fat Middle of Nothing

IV. The big fat middle of nothing. Outside the bus window the night was something solid and impenetrable, not a star to be seen, only an occasional porch light burning on some farmhouse miles in the distance. For hours now they'd been passing through endless blind tracts of dark country, where shockingly few people lived, but Phoebe could still feel the cows out there in the night, watching, chewing, uncomprehending. Cows, cows, and more cows, that was her impression of the great...

Patchwork People XIX First draft people

XIX. First draft people. An occasional bat flickered across the stars overhead. The gardenias and hibiscus had long drawn in their petal- awnings. Across the lawn, the hunched bushes looked like a queue of black-robed monks marching back to their monastery. And in the middle distance, fireflies marked a secondary night-sky of transitory constellations in what might have been an even more unpredictable universe than the one we find ourselves inhabiting, one that blinks in an out of...

Patchwork People IX The momster

IX. The momster. Her whole life Phoebe's biggest fear was that her Mom would die suddenly and without warning. Even as a little girl, she was kept awake with nightmares that seemed to foretell his horrible event in detail. She remembered anxiously watching her mom sleep, afraid that she might stop breathing, nudging her awake just in case. How cranky she would be! "What!" she'd bark, snorting and spluttering. "What's the matter with you? What time is it? Why aren't you in bed?" It...

Patchwork People XVII Hells Angel

XVII. Hell's Angel Walt was in the workroom of his shop when she called. He was putting new brake cables on a Rivendell Sam Hillborne. He was customizing the bike for one of his more well-heeled patrons, a dentist who fancied himself a cycling aficionado. He was the kind of guy who outfitted himself like he was racing in the Tour de France just to tool his way through the park. He always bought the very latest, most cutting-edge gear. Everything high-tech and top of the line. But he spent...

Patchwork People XXX Book of Changes

XXX. Book of changes. One morning Marcia came into the Blue Cat and found Grace packing up the snow-globe collection. She carefully wrapped each plastic globe in newspaper before nesting it inside a box beside the others. "What happened? Did Mrs. Pritchard have second-thoughts about selling?" Marcia's eyes widened in disbelief. "Don't tell me you got a taker for the entire collection?" "Neither, I'm afraid," Grace said. Marcia began setting out that morning's baked selections....

Patchwork People XVIII Beauty and the Beast

XVIII. Beauty and the beast. So I finally got to meet the boyfriend. Surreal! He was one of those big, burly, biker-types. His arms (and who knows what else) covered in tats, the seriouso kind. I'll bet anything some of them are prison tattoos. Long gray hair tied back in a grizzled ponytail. Grizzled beard, too. He was exactly the kind of guy that every dad shudders to imagine his daughter will bring home one day. And here my dad was bringing him home to me! See what I mean by...

Patchwork People V The Diner on Memory Lane

V. The diner on memory lane. The last time Marcia had spoken to anyone in her family it was to her brother Matt. That would be winter five years ago. They met in a 24-hour diner by the side of a highway in Metuchen, New Jersey. Pointedly, it was a restaurant Matt had never visited and no doubt never intended to visit again. Through a series of emails and two brief phone calls, she had explained the general situation and Matt's reaction had grudgingly advanced from "this has got to be...

XXI. Full Xanax moments. Her heart skipped a beat before her brain was fully conscious of the reason. There'd been a total communications blackout between them of several years running but Marcia recognized Claire's old email address immediately. VI. The perfect pie crust. The windows were dark, covered with condensation. Inside, at the kitchen table, Marcia pressed the heel of her hand against the back of the santoku knife and cleaved the apple in half. Fuji, this time. There were five other apples prepared on the cutting board, skinned an unearthly greenish-white, already tarnishing. She was making an apple pie for the Blue Cat. Patchwork People XIII Lame Burger

XIII. Lame burger. The bus that was supposed to bring Phoebe to Hope Crossing came and went with no Phoebe on it. Only a handful of passengers disembarked from the coach. A tall, elderly, stoop-shouldered man with a sharp-featured face descended first. He took a quick glace around, readjusted his grip on a battered suitcase, and trudged up the street. He was followed by a stout, middle-aged black woman in a church-lady pantsuit. Behind her were two children, chattering, bickering,...

Patchwork People X The amoeba life

X. The amoeba life. In the stories of people she admired, there was always a defining moment, a dramatic event that summed up their lives to a critical point and provided the pivot for a new life to come. Marcia would like to have had a similar "defining moment" in her life, but it struck her that her life not only lacked a defining moment, but that it really didn't have any definition at all. It was a more amorphous thing, her life; if it advanced, and that was often in doubt, it...

"Well, it's not exactly a garage. Actually, It's a converted carriage house. I'm just renting. The woman I work for owns it. She lives in the main house across the garden." "A carriage house? Patchwork People XVI Buried Secrets

XVI. Buried Secrets. First thing I do on that first day is I take a detour through town to check out this totally demented store where Marcia mentioned she has a job. What kind of a job, I can't quite imagine. From what I can tell, it sounds like something super low-ambition, some not-trying-too-hard menial position that can't possibly pay very much. Given my main reason for showing up here in Hope Crossing, that doesn't bode well for the future of yours truly. You can imagine my...

Patchwork People XXV Whos Your Daddy

XXV. Who's your daddy? When they asked me at the hospital who my parents were, who my emergency contact was, I guess you can say that I kind of panicked. They were making it pretty clear they weren't going to let me out of here on my own, no way, so I had to come up with someone. Who could I finger for the honor? Mom was out of the question, at this point, and once Marcia found out that I'd lied and basically stolen her money, which I'm sure she must have realized by now, she wasn't...

XXII. The x factor. It was a strange council they made that evening sitting on Grace's porch. Walt and Marcia, Claire, and, of course, Grace herself, puttering about busily, trying to make everyone comfortable. That the moment the...

Patchwork People VII A Bicycle Built for Two

VII. A bicycle built for two. Everyman's Cycles looked like a bicycle field hospital. Wherever you looked bicycles, or parts of bicycles, stood, leaned, or lay in various states of distress, awaiting Walt's attention. Bicycles he found abandoned in fields, weeds growing through their spokes. Or locked for months to streets...

XI. A ghost and a riddle. Night again. Bus travel made her sleepy, but only during the day it seemed. She traveled through the night hours wide awake. Phoebe could see her reflection like a ghost super-imposed over all that limitless darkness. She felt like a ghost, too, like something not quite real, a figment of someone's imagination. But who's? She was a ghost floating across the countryside to haunt a person who'd run as far away from her as possible. What brought her back...

XX. Glass houses. To the sadly uninitiated, a bicycle is simply a convenient means of transportation, low-tech, eco-friendly, inexpensive, ultra-democratic. For the fitness conscious, it's a superior form of practical exercise: you could get your aerobic workout and run errands at the same time. For others, the bicycle endures as the conveyance of childhood memories--tricycle, Big Wheels, training wheels, scraped knees and paper routes. However to someone like Walt, a bicycle was all...

In the Southwest, somewheres, which is good enough to say, if you're living two thousand miles away in New Jersey and have no intention of ever actually going there. I'm not sure if anything is really different than it was before, but I do see it differently, and maybe that makes all the difference. We'll just have to wait and see. Patchwork People XXXI The wisdom of ghosts

XXXI. The wisdom of ghosts. Edgar Birdwell was an awful poet. There was just no two ways around it. It wasn't only that his language was stilted and clunky, antiquated even in his own day, or that his themes were self-censored, disguised in tortured euphemisms to the point of utter obscurity. He was simply a bad writer. There was a good reason he was self-published. Who else would? Birdwell had an ear with more tin in it than a can. Marcia's fantasy, ex- graduate student of...

XII. Mirror, Mirror. The woman framed in the glass wore a flower-print silk skirt, a white blouse, and a light black sweater cinched tight above the waist. The Passion of Mother Ethel

Mother Ethel always enjoyed the short walk to the train station. It was beautiful Autumnal morning and Mother Ethel took the opportunity to walk to the train station as she knew that she had a very busy day ahead. Those that saw Mother Ethel along the way bowed reverently, they knew that Mother Ethel was a Nun of the Monastery of Repentance and when a Nun or a Monk walked past it was polite to bow, for many knew what the Nun's and Monk's of the Monastery were capable of. As Mother Ethel strolled...

Dot Dorothea and Dick

Dot, Dorothea, and Dick Chapter One Dear sister: I found this letter among some others, scrolled up and tied with purple ribbon, in a chest belonging to our great grandfather. The name Charles has belonged to several in our family line, but I believe I know the one who received and saved this letter, and kept it preserved for so many years. I believe the letter speaks for itself, so I will now offer it up to you. Dearest Charles: I hope this missive finds you in such good...

My Golden Summer with Blythe Ch 01

Our Last Day of School. I can’t believe it. This is my last day of school, I thought, not sure how I felt now that the long awaited day was here. Stepping out into the beautiful sunny afternoon, heading toward the group of waiting yellow school buses I breathed a sigh of relief. I was glad school was finished. Throughout High School like a ship at sea, I had plotted my course, studying hard. However, the Scholarship that many felt I had rightfully won had somehow ended up going to one of...

What’s wrong?”Anthea looked up at her mum as she sat down at the dining table. “Nothing is wrong,” Anthea responded watching as her mum hurriedly dried her hands with a tea towel.“Is the baby okay? Are you okay? Is Jack okay?” she asked as her husband came into the room and pulled up a seat at the table.“We’re all fine Mum,” she responded exasperated with her mum’s anxiety. “I have something to tell you.”“Sit down Helen,” her dad snapped. “Give the lass a chance to speak.”Anthea...

Uther

Uther By Ellie Dauber (c) 2006 Introduction According to the legends of King Arthur, Merlin changed Uther Pendragon into a double for Duke Gorlois, so he could spend the night with Ygraine, the Duke's wife. Ygraine and Gorlois had three daughters: Elaine, Morgause, and Morgan le Faye. During their time together, Ygraine became pregnant with the child who was to become King Arthur. Uther's men killed Gorlois that same night. This is my TG (of course) version of what...

Fallen Angel Chapter 11 Althea the School Girl

Chapter 11: Althea, the School Girl The infernal screeching of the alarm clock awoke Cal from his reverie. He had been up for about a half-hour, but he had only been lying in bed next to the love of his life. Althea's arms were still clutched about him as he stealthily clicked the snooze button, assuming that it was six o' five in the morning, his usual waking time during the school week. He had been thinking long and hard about the previous two nights. Evan... what have you become? He...

The Devils Pact Sidestory Miss Blythe Is Hot for Her Students

edited by Master Ken Wednesday, September 4th, 2013 "Hi, I am Miss Blythe," I said to my class, writing my name on the whiteboard with a red dry-erase marker. "I will be your World History teacher." It was the first day of the new school year and, as I launched into the course syllabus, my thoughts kept drifting to that day in June at the end of the last term, when my Living God, the Holy Mark Glassner, walked into this very classroom and changed my very outlook on life. I didn't know...

Carruthers Bride

The the wind howled around the quayside as I stepped onto terra firma for the first time in weeks, the wind threw sharp shards of ice to sting our faces as we looked up at the sails as they were finally furled and stowed as our captain grinned at our discomfiture, "Au revoir!" he joked as if he knew we should soon be recalled. Those such as were left, and we were few enough, I shuddered. My best uniform packed securely in my Valise, awaited me, and just a few more duties before I...

Athena Corp Chronicles A Mothers Love

As he approached one of the hall's long mirrors he stopped to inspect himself. It was a familiar sight, the flowing, billowy French maid outfit surrounding his body. His arms and legs were outlined in silky, white stockings and arm-gloves. He wore pearl earrings and the lacy white collar around his neck was adorned with a beautiful pendant. It was a gift from mother that he wore every day, without fail. Jon's painted red lips and neatly applied eyeliner and blush were evidence that he was...

Aunt Katherin and Her SlavesChapter 2 Katherine

Katherine stepped into her elegant living room and took a book from the shelf. She sat in a plush lounge chair, specifically selecting a chair in the back corner of the room next to an old dumbwaiter that was once used to ferry delicious meals from the downstairs kitchen to the dining room table. She planned to read the book for a short while, but she already knew her attention would soon be diverted. Tonight the dumbwaiter would once again be placed into service, except this time it would be...

Motherless Vintage

Do you know of the porn site Motherless.com? You should. I’ve reviewed it a few times on my site, The Porn Dude, although it was for different genres every time. This time around, I’m going back to this place and looking at a specific and niche little category many of you are just begging me to cover. We’re looking at vintage porn today. While it doesn’t have the same resolution and quality as the porn you can find today, it’s definitely a genre of porn that has a lot of personality to it and...

Althea

I should have known better. I should have remembered that old saying, "If it looks too good to be true, it is." I was in love. She was damned near all I thought about with the exception of my studies and it didn't make sense to me. I prided myself on my intellect and my ability to think logically, but there wasn't anything logical about the way I felt about Althea. She was beautiful, smart and very popular and I was not. I wasn't a bed looking guy, but I was nothing exceptional. I was...

Motherless Images

Motherless. A one-word website title that says everything it needs to say. This is a site where the rules are, more or less, completely thrown out the window, morality means absolutely nothing, and there is nobody to save you from it. Hedonism is God here. The site likely is also called this due to the fact that the girls who end up on motherless.com likely have no positive female influence in their lives to keep them from it. Motherless is the place parents spend their whole lives fearing that...

The Greatheads Make New Friends

The girls needed more hot underwear so we decided one Saturday morning to hotfoot it over to the mall and visit the local lingerie shop. The saleslady regarded us curiously, a man and two women. Her name was Sally, according to her name clip, and I was regarding her curiously too. She was one of those slim dames with big tasty hooters, sort of a nervous, birdy face. Nice looking though. She followed Liz and Pat around as they gathered armfuls of stuff to try on. Even when they went giggling...

Motherless Amateur

I always considered Motherless the “4chan” of porn. Not only because Motherless was somewhat popularized there, but because Motherless also encourages users to share their own content in a very open way. This means minimal bullshit like moderation and censorship, and a strong “anything goes” attitude that leads to free and extreme content. It encourages people to create and upload their own homegrown content, like videos of their girlfriend pissing or spycam videos of their cousin....

Motherless BBW

What is it about Motherless that makes me fucking cum every time? Maybe it is how raw and amateur the porn on the site comes across as, or the content is just that fucking hot. Perhaps it is the fact that there is an astronomical amount of pornography just waiting for a dumb fuck like you to beat off to! I really don’t know, and frankly, I’m not going to pretend that I do.But what I do know is that if you love BBWs, the Motherless.com homepage will not be of much use! Preferably, head on over...

Clothesline Leather in Lawnville

Clothesline[This story is part of the Leather in Lawnville series.]   Clothesline By DuskPetersonYou can tell a lot about a guy from where he shops. Take my friends, who have specialized tastes. Some of them spend their time at the hardware store, while others take an interest in our town's fabric shop, which has needles and pins that make them drool. Still others hang out at the department store, eyeing the cutlery collection. Somehow all of us end up rubbing shoulders at the town's jacket...
