It was the year 2037. Caroline was a well-known and much respected
scientist. At her 38 years, she had already accomplished one of her
greatest creations: a portable time machine. Some years ago a group of
scientists created a time machine, but it was done based in the classic
movie "Back to the Future" they had made it out of a car, an idea that
she liked and also brought her some memories of watching it with her

After some experiments, which succeeded, she finally decided to use it
herself. But she was planning to do something really special for that
occasion.
- Amy, could you please bring me a pot of shape-shifting pills, please?
- asked Caroline to one of the persons that helped her the most during
that experiments, and the girl she had loved since a long time ago.
- Of course, baby, here they are - Amy answered, winking at her.

waved at Amy while she disappeared in time.
When she appeared again, although it was almost 10 p.m., she was in a
street full of people. Unlike what many predicted, her clothes weren't
really strange for the people. It was just a normal outfit for a woman
of her age. She went to a lonely street and then activated the
teleportation and thought of the place she wanted to be and closed her
eyes. When she opened them, she saw what she was expecting. It was a
teenager's bedroom. She saw the bed with blue blankets. She saw the
posters of The Avengers, Spider-Man and The Beatles, and the closet full
of stickers. She smiled "Whoa, I hadn't realized how much time have
passed. Oh, man. I really missed this place". She thought as she lay
down in the soft bed. She only got up when she heard some steps and two
familiar voices talked.
-Good night, son. Sleep well - a female voice said.
-Good night, mom. I love you - a boy's voice answered.
Caroline stood up as she waited for the boy to open the door. Then she
saw him, a 17 year old boy, tall, with dark brown short hair and dark
eyes. When the boy saw her he just opened his eyes with shock and a
little bit of fear.
-Who-who are you? - The boy asked, stuttering.
-It's ok, Carl. Calm down. My name is Caroline - she answered with calm.
-How... how do you know my name? And why are you here? How did you
enter? - Carl asked, still with fear on his voice.
-I entered with my teleportation system, I'm from the future. And I'm
here because I want to give something to you.
-The future?! Ha, don't make me laugh! I'm not dumb. Maybe you said that
you were my teacher or something like that! I don't know. I don't know
how you got here! - Carl accused her.
-I'm not lying! I swear - Caroline answered.
-Prove it!-
She took the boy's hand and activated the teleportation system. And in a
moment both of them were on the top of the house.
Carl's eyes opened in surprise as he saw his whole neighborhood, and as
he felt the cool breeze of the night.
-O-Ok, I believe you. Now, let's return to my room-
Caroline activated the system again and in a few seconds they were back
on Carl's warm room.
-Ok, so, you're from the future. But you haven't answered me, how do you
know me? You're a friend from work? Or maybe... are you my girlfriend or
my wife? - Carl asked with curiosity.
-No, I'm not your wife nor your girlfriend - Caroline answered.
-Then... who are you?-
-I... I am you - Caroline answered, while looking at Carl's eyes.
-What? But that's impossible. I mean, you... you're a woman and I'm a
boy -
-Yeah, well, as far as I can remember at your age we had already figured

Carl blushed. It was true. It had been some time ago since he heard the
word "transgender" for the first time, and after a lot of time denying

Caroline looked at him. She remembered the way she used to feel when she
was younger. The fear, the preoccupation, the horrible feeling of hiding
something important from the people you care the most about. All of
those feelings were the ones that she saw in Carl's face... in her face.
She used to be this shy and nervous kid, a boy that wasn't very
optimistic, a boy that found really difficult socializing with other
people without the help of his friends, a boy that never dared to talk
to the girls he liked and that also had some physical problems that made
him weak and terrible at sports. She knew how hard life was for him
because she had already lived it.
She got near to him and suddenly hugged him. Carl was surprised and
tried to get away but then he felt something strange that made him feel
calmed. Caroline's hug was warm and full of compassion.
-Everything will get better, Carl. I promise you - Caroline whispered
and then, to her surprise, Carl started crying. And that made her so
emotional that her own tears started flowing.
With those tears Carl let go all those painful thoughts and feelings,
while Caroline just remembered all those things that she had always
wanted to forget. But then he thought about something and he got away
from her.
-You shouldn't be here! - Carl said.
-What? Why? - Caroline asked, confused by that sudden change of
attitude.
- We can't be in the same time and talking to each other! You'll cause a
time paradox. You should know it! Time travel is dangerous! You could
destroy your future... our future, or even worse, destroy the entire
universe! - Carl answered, almost screaming to her.
Caroline rolled her eyes and answered - Calm down, OK! I won't cause a
paradox or change the future or create alternate timelines and all that
stuff! That kind of things just happens in comic books and movies. This
visit was meant to happen. You can't change the future or the past! -
-Oh, ok. So... why are you here, future me? Just to make me aware that I
do get the chance to transition? Or you just wanted to scare me and make
me cry and let out all those awful feelings? - Carl asked with
curiosity.
- No, I... actually have a present for you - Caroline said while she
opened her handbag and took out the pot full of blue pills.
Carl looked at them with curiosity, and then he looked at Caroline and

answered.

clothes he was wearing turned into a dress with a white top and a black
skirt. Carl wasn't transforming into a movie star, but Caroline
definitely knew who that person was.
Carl opened his eyes, which now were blue, and then asked -What
happened? - And as he talked he opened his eyes in shock. It wasn't
possible. His voice was now like a girl's voice. The voice of a girl he
knew.
-Hi, Amy - Caroline said as she took a mirror and then showed Carl his
own face.
Carl saw with shock. It was, indeed, Amy's face. He had a huge crush on
her and she was like the maximum representation of femininity for him.
He touched his face, his skin was softer, and then the tears started
flowing again.
-Thank you, just... Thank you! This is a dream come true - Carl said,
now with Amy's voice, and then he hugged Caroline.
Caroline smiled and some tears started flowing on her too, but she
cleaned them and quickly said -Don't cry! You'll ruin your makeup! - And
then she smiled and cleaned Carl's tears.
-What is that thing that you gave me? - Carl asked.
-These are shape-shifting pills. With them you can turn into any other
person you can imagine as long as the image of that person in your brain
is strong enough. I helped... someone to develop them.
- Oh, that's awesome! And you're going to give those to me?! - Carl
asked with excitement.
-Yes, I will. But you need to take them with care! Look, you need to
take one to become the person you want to be, and you take another to

pills in less than 72 hours- Caroline explained while she handed the pot
to Carl

that person look like naked -
Carl blushed even more as he nodded.
-But I do recommend you to not take off your clothes while being Amy.
It'll ruin the surprise -
Carl nodded again and then turned to see Caroline -Wait! What surprise?

-You have to figure out by yourself. Bye! - Caroline said as she
activated the time machine and disappeared, leaving Carl completely
alone.
"Well, if I can't see Amy's body... maybe I should try someone else.

thought with a smile as he looked at himself in the mirror, still with
the appearance of Amy.
