Donna came into the room holding her cellphone and said to her husband,
"Dear, it will have to be a raincheck on making pottery tonight. Alice
called, she sounds really down."
Martin Gahan was as happy as a poker player holding the nuts when his
wife said she had to cancel their plans for the night. He loved spending
time with his wife, but wanted to actually be the poker player holding
the nuts tonight instead. His friends threw together a spur of the
moment poker game for this evening and the excitement of thinking of
winning money off of them made him forget about his wife's plans for the
evening.
Martin bluffed being disappointed when he said, "Ahhh, I was so looking
forward to going."
Now Daniel Gore smiled hearing those two back out of their plans. It was
easy for him their daughter Tiffany to know this. Both of them sounded
as wooden in talking about the sudden change of their plans.
The reason Daniel smiled was it was time to repay those two for busting
his chops earlier today. Those two called him out on his lame reason why
he was free to spend time with their daughter Tiffany. They mention the
real reason of him liking her was why he dropped going to see the new
Marvel movie on opening weekend. Them telling his secret crush on
Tiffany, which was as well-known as the fact that Area 51 tested spy
planes, to get a rise out of the made Daniel look for payback. Now,
Daniel was as happy as a poker player holding the nuts and said,
"Really, just a couple of minutes ago you were already counting the
money you think you were going to win tonight playing poker."
Donna was a little irked hearing about her husband plans. "So you just
forgot we were going to make pottery tonight!"
Martin could not believe that disrespectful boy would sell him out. He
did not have time to deal with his wife being upset. "Donna, why be
upset about me forgetting. You are also backing out on it."
"No, I am not. Alice really needs someone to talk to tonight."
Now it was time for Daniel to collect his payback from Ms Gahan. It was
simple to do so, he only said, "Really?"
"Yes."
The boy who was going to make Ms Gahan crack did so by just saying
really another time. Donna broke under that small amount of pressure,
she knew Daniel was on to her. If that boy was on to her then her
husband was also. She knew she overreacted to her husband forgetting
about plans she did not want to do so Donna backed down. , "Alright, no
Donna does not need anyone to talk with. She invited me over just to
hang out. It sounds a lot better than us making some pottery. I don't
know why I even came up with that lame idea."
Now, with being back in good graces with his wife, Martin could turn his
attention to the troublemaker. "Daniel why?"
"Simple you busted my chops, so I busted yours."
Even with it being a true statement, Martin did not believe the reason.
He saw what him and his wife did as harmless fun, while what that boy
did could have caused some marital strife. The man who hated being
outsmarted by a boy did not see the fun him and his wife had at Daniel's
expense caused strife for the boy. It caused a hang-up in the complex
dating ritual of teenagers for Daniel. He could not get out of the
friendzone with Tiffany if other people knew she was letting him do so.
The courting would take longer and that meant there was a chance Tiffany
could end up with another boy who was not at Daniel's disadvantage of
being in the friendzone.
After Daniel left Tiffany said, "I just wish for once that someone would
get the last laugh on Daniel."
The girl who feelings for Daniel were growing was just vexing about how
matter of fact he would be after someone got him with a zinger or a
prank. Most people thought it was him being cool, but Tiffany knew
better. Daniel played it cool for he was planning how to get them back
right away. Instead of just letting people get a laugh, Daniel wanted to
make sure he got the last laugh. She thought he needed to learn that he
cannot always end up on top.
Hearing his daughter's grievance about the boy gave Martin an idea. He
could use his daughter and her friends to teach Martin a lesson.
"Tiffany, I think can help you with that."
***********
It took a couple of days for Martin to finalize up with his plan to put
Daniel in his place. The man, who was taking trying to ease the pain of
his bruised ego too far, wanted to humiliate that kid and thought the
best way was to put him in a dress.
Having Daniel crossdress had the added bonus of Daniel being permanently
in the friendzone with his daughter. Martin knew that once Tiffany saw
Daniel standing in high heels he would not be high on her list of boys
to date. His daughter was not old and wise enough to be able to look
past the fact Daniel's choice of outfit was not by his on his own
volition. Also, how much Daniel would sulk about being put in a dress
would lower Tiffany's opinion on the boy who liked her.
Martin thought that Daniel was too disrespectful to his elders for
Tiffany to be with. In truth. Daniel was respectful to his elders. He
just did not let them get away with treating him as an unequal only
because they completed more laps around the sun. To this elder, one of
the perks of being a grown-up was that kids treated you with reverence.
Martin was a firm believer in showing the right respect. To him grown-
ups got respect from children even when they act in a manner which
doesn't demand so.
Martin did not understand that respect was first given then needed to be
earned to be maintained. People show respect to others until people show
that they do not deserve it. Respect was a privilege, and one cannot
expect it if they do not earn it by showing it to others. The man who
was worried about being treated right also did not understand that
Daniel was treating him with respect by not holding back in giving back
what Martin gave him. Daniel saw Mr Gahan as his equal so did treat him
with reverence, but like anyone else.
The young man was treating Martin like an equal and that was the true
issue. Tiffany's dad equated getting preferential treatment without
giving it with respect. Martin did not understand that true respect was
when people saw others as their equals and acted accordingly. The man
who wanted different treatment did not understand he was being
disrespectful by expecting others to treat him better than he would
treat him.
So, the man who was going to get a good laugh while also getting rid of
the boy he felt was not good enough for Tiffany pitch the plan to his
daughter. He knew he needed to sell it as lighthearted, Tiffany would
never agree to do something that hurt her friend. Also, his daughter
liked the Daniel's advances and would never knowingly do anything to
stop them.
Martin explained to Tiffany it would be fun to get Daniel good for once
and launched into his plan. He told his daughter about finding a quiz
online with trick questions for her to challenge Daniel to take with the
stipulation the winner gets to pick the loser's outfit. Then she would
pick out one of her outfits for him to wear. The man who was pulling
strings explain that Daniel would be too uncomfortable to say anything
back.
Mr Gahan stressed that in getting Daniel to fall for the trap Tiffany
would need one of her friends to mention the quiz then have his daughter
say she could do better than him. The truth was that Mr Gahan did not
want Daniel to know he had anything to do with this. He knew once the
boy figure out he was hoodwinked he would not be happy about adults
being involved.
The father knew so full of himself Daniel that boy would jump like a dog
going after a treat thrown at it at taking the offer. Also, with the
questions looking easy, like Does the UK have the 4th of July, Daniel
would not put much thought into answering the question. Martin loved the
fact that the boy who would soon be more respectful would have the added
humiliation of missing all the questions.
After hearing her dad's idea Tiffany felt as iffy about the plan as
customers going to a Cajun restaurant in Lapland. It was overkill to the
girl. Daniel should not be humiliated just because he dishes out what he
took. It was true that sweet boy needed to learn to not always try to
get the last laugh, but putting him in a dress was over the top. Also,
there was going to be three co-conspirators with her. It was a pretty
complex plan for a simple lesson and laugh.
Martin knew he had to get his daughter to feel confident in his plan.
This was simple enough to do, just mention how sexist Daniel was towards
women. Martin knew this was not true, but painting this picture was as
quick and easy to Martin as Bob Ross making his art.
Tiffany was as shocked at the assertion her dad made about her friend.
She had too much dignity in who she was to be friends with someone who
did not see her gender as their equal. Then the lady, who thought she
had a friend who respected her, was even more shocked when the assertion
was making sense. Martin leaving out that the girls would at first say
that girls are better than boys when joking around helped. He also made
sure that the laughing that Daniel did when joking back was not in line
with the good spirits that assertion was made, but about him laughing at
girls.
Martin did understand Tiffany thinking the plan was overkill because
after all it was complex and needed many people in it. Tiffany only knew
about the other two he said needed recruited, but they would be more
people involved. After getting his daughter to agree the mastermind also
headhunted his wife, Daniel's mom along with Heather and June's parents.
June's mom and Heather's dad thought the idea was as bad as making a
musical cop show and wanted nothing to do with it.
Martin's proposal was as expected as the Spanish Inquisition to Louanne
Gore. She automatically said no, why would she want to be part of a plan
to humiliate her son. He brought up that Daniel needed to let other
people get the last laugh and started to change Louanne's mind. Then
Martin lied about her son's misogynistic attitude and Louanne joined in
the plan. She knew her son was not a bad kid and did not mean to have
those backwards views on women; but those views needed to be purged from
his mindset.
In passing Martin told Louanne he was calling her ex next; but she put
the kibosh on that right away. She knew that Dave would not play a part
in their scheme and would alert his son about it. Instead of having a
little fun teaching their son an important lesson he would take this as
a serious parenting moment. Not all life lessons had to be as
melodramatic as an afterschool special, they could be as light hearted
as a 80's sitcom.
It was as easy as listening to a James Taylor CD for Tiffany to get
Heather on board with getting Daniel in a dress. As soon as she
mentioned the details of the plan, Heather was eager to join. She just
like the thought that for once she would be able to get the last laugh
on her friend. It got better when Heather found out they were going to
say she was the one who found the quiz. It gave her part ownership in
the prank. It would feel good to have some credit in getting Daniel
good. Then Heather actually earned her ownership by suggesting that
Tiffany sweeten to pot by only suggesting the outfit to be worn for a
date between Tiffany and Daniel.
June on the other hand was a little wary of the plan. Hearing that Mr
Gahan was behind the plan made her apprehensive about it. An adult
should have better things to do than to pull childish pranks on a child.
Then the deception of saying Tiffany found the quiz made her more
distrustful of it being good old fun. Mr Gahan loved to take credit when
he came up with something good. June also thought that giving Daniel
false hope about a date was not nice.
Lastly, the girl with the uneasy feeling did not buy that her friend
saying that Daniel was sexist when he said that boys were better than
girls. She knew that he was joking around and also only said it after
one of them claim the superiority of girls over boys. June ended up
going along with the plan for the peer pressure she was under made her
downplay her bad feelings about the set-up
***********
Daniel Gore was a gracious loser but was a little surprise that his
friend was able to figure out the quiz was filled with trick questions
and he did not. It was no big deal, he was going to have a date with his
dream girl. Plus he also learn something important, from now on he
should pay more pay attention to the questions more thoroughly. Luckily,
his mistake of not paying attention did mess up a test which was
important by not paying close attention
"So, I guess you will come over and look in my closet to see what you
want me to wear on our date on Friday."
Tiffany Gahan was so ready to enjoy rubbing Dan's face in losing. She
saw this as some harmless fun and being able to finally stop Dan teasing
the girls back when they were joking with him. The lady, who meant no
harm, did not know how much Dan was looking forward to the date and that
was the only reason he agreed to the bet which he found stupid.
Tiffany started to rub Dan face in the true forfeit. "Oh, no need for me
to look in your closet. I got a nice black jean skirt and pink halter
top picked out for when you hang out with us girls.
Daniel was a little confused by what Tiffany wanted him to wear and also
no date. He thought this stupid quiz was her way of asking him out on a
date. "But the date and just us two?"
"Oh, I did not agree to a date. The bet was for the winner picking the
loser outfit. I said it could just be me and you going to the movies and
then getting a snack afterwards at Sam's Town. Could doesn't mean
definitely. You know we could do all that, but with all the girls. Just
remember you do not always get the last laugh."
"Wait, you are saying that we did not agree to a date on Friday?"
"Come on I just explained that, we did not agree on anything for Friday
night other than the winner picks what the loser wore out on Friday
night. The date was implied but not said."
Dan smiled, and Tiffany hated it. She knew that smile, it was the harold
of Daniel getting the last laugh. That smile always came to his face
when he gave a quick quip back to one of their remarks. That smile came
to Daniel face for he was already reaping the lesson of paying closer
attention. Tiffany was going strictly by the wording of the bet, so he
was going to also. "Good for you will not be seeing me on Friday night."
"Hold on mister, yes I will! I won the bet."
"Yes, you won that bet. There is nothing in the bet which said I have to
spend any time with you or anyone else. You said it was just picking the
outfit the loser won."
"Dan, it was implied that we would be with each other."
"You just pointed out implying and saying are too different things. You
implied this was for a date. It was not so I need not to be around you."
"How would I know that you did so?"
"You will have to trust me."
"I don't. You are trying to back out for you are not getting your way."
"No I am following the letter of the bet, like you are. You tricked me,
you outsmarted me once in making me take this bet. You got lucky that
you figured out that those were trick questions on the quiz Heather
found. I have no idea how you knew you would do better on that quiz."
Tiffany could stand that even with losing Dan was claiming she only
outsmarted him once. She got him good a couple of times today and he
needed to know. "While I outsmarted you more than once, I knew the
questions and answers before we took the quiz."
"Then the bet is not good."
"Yes it is, we only said that Heather found the quiz and nothing was
said about if I read it or not. You should had asked."
When he heard that Heather gave Tiffany the answers, Dan figured out
that all of those girls were in on the deceit. The boy shot them all a
look of disdain. He could not believe that some of his friends would
plan this behind his back. Tiffany and Heather just took it as him being
a sore loser. June felt as bad as a Kevin Federline's song, this really
did not feel right to her anymore. That look showed it was not just good
fun like the others were saying.
"I am not paying off the bet."
"We will see about that."
"Yeah we will."
************
Louanne was waiting for her son to come home. Too many people worked too
hard on getting her son into a dress for him to walk out of paying off
the bet. The loving mother knew her son was right in declaring the bet
null and void but she was not going to let him get out of it. That boy
of her needed to let the girls tease him occasionally without having to
make a smart sexist joke back to them.
Dan was in a better mood by the time he made it home. In his mind, the
boy did not lose the bet and found out how some of his friends really
were. He just was not going to hang out with them anymore. His mood was
quickly brought back down with how his mom greeted him
"Daniel Nathaniel Gore, we need to talk."
Right then, Dan knew his mom was not happy with him. Any teenager knew
when a parent used their full name to start a conversation, the talk was
not going to be a pleasant one. The boy who had no idea what he did
wrong looked at his mom waiting to hear the lecture.
"Tiffany called, and she said you are trying to welch out of a bet. I am
raising you to keep your word, so you will do no such thing"
Dan was happy the subject of the parent child talk was the bet. "Mom, I
am not going to honor a bet which was fixed."
"Tiffany told me what happened, and the bet was not fixed. You just
assumed she did not see the quiz. Having to pay off the bet might make
you think before you open your big mouth. You know be more like a
woman."
Right then, Dan got in a horrible mood, his mom had to be in on the fix.
There was no way that she really thought that it was a fair bet. With
her wanting this to happen Dan knew it was not worth fighting with her.
, "Fine Mom, if that is all then I am going to my room."
Louanne did not want to bicker with her son about the bet. Deep down
inside she knew if he kept bringing up how he was tricked she would
relent and side with him. She wanted a good strong relationship with her
son and that could not be so if he did not trust her. If they did not
talk about her being in on the deceit Louanne thought that her part in
getting him in a dress would fade from Dan's mind.
This was never a bet in her eyes, but a way to teach her son to not have
to have the last word and a better view on women. Also, for her son to
let people get a little quip in with saying one back all the time.
Sometimes those quips he gave back hurt. She did not even think for a
moment that if someone is dishing it out they should be able to take it.
She did not think that people should always expect quips back when they
give one.
"Come on Dan, stay down here, we can watch some Netflix. We can catch up
on Gotham."
"Nah, I am not in the mood to watch television."
"I want to spend time with you. We always watch Gotham together."
"Not tonight."
"Do not take it out on me you lost that bet. Come on we need to catch up
on what is happening with young Master Bruce becoming Batman."
"I am not mom. I am not in the mood to watch television and you said I
should do what I want, not to give in to pressure. Are you welching out
of your word?"
Louanne saw that her son was going to bicker about everything other than
this bet. Her son bringing up her words to use against her just
reinforced Louanne's belief Dan needed some humility. He was once again
trying to get the last word. The mom who thought she was helping her son
did not push the subject. He would soon learn his lesson and not be so
uppity towards women.
**********
Dan did not return any of the girls' calls during the rest of the
weekend. He did send them all a text, telling them they needed to find
their own way to school. He might had been mad at the girls, but he was
not going to let them be hanging without a way to school.
The girls all could not believe that Daniel was being so petty when he
did not show on Monday morning to pick them up for school. They all
thought that his text to them was fiction, a joke to get back at them.
They were under the false belief their friend would do what he has been
doing since his father gave him a car, be their chauffeur.
At school the three girls finally ran into Daniel and told him they were
disappointed in them. The grievances they aired were of no concern to
Danny. He told them all that the stunt they pulled changed their
friendship and they should get used to not having him around until they
got more mature.
Heather and June knew to give Danny some space and once he cool down he
would again hang out with them. Tiffany was not having this change in
her friendship with Danny. What good was it to win that bet if she could
not rub it in on him. She made a phone call to the only person who could
remedy the situation, Ms Gore.
Ms Gore did not like her son was being so childish in her eyes. She was
not going to allowed him to let the girls pulling one over on him ruin
his friendship with them. Her son was just needed to take the ribbing
they were going to give him. Her son was going to drive them into
school.
Ms Gore waited until dinner was served to tell Danny he needed to grow
up. She called him down for supper and Danny told her he will eat later.
That was it, the impatient mother was not going to have her son sulk
towards her because he was a victim of a prank.
"Get down here right now Daniel Nathaniel Gore and eat supper. We need
to talk about your attitude since losing that bet."
Dan came down to the dining room and stood at the table, "Yes mom."
"Sit down and eat. We will talk during the meal."
Dan sat down and join his mom for the meal. The loving mom who thought
she was helping to teach her son a much-needed lesson waited for him to
start the conversation. He did not and the silence was killing her. Each
moment which passed with nothing being said caused Louanne heart to beat
a little weaker. She needed a jolt of energy which would only come from
hearing her son's voice. She thought that him starting the conversation
about the bet would make him better understand why it was important.
"You have been quiet, what is on your mind, Danny?
"I think you were in on this tricked the girls played. You went against
everything you taught me by saying that Tiffany did not cheat. You know
having the questions to a test is cheating. You punished Derrick when he
was caught with a copy of a test."
Ms Gore hated that her son used her actions against her. Her oldest son
was caught cheating in grade school. That was over 10 years ago, how did
Dan remember that? How much she hated that Dan saw her as being
hypocritical made her understand why Tiffany wanted to pull one over on
her son. "That is different."
"No, it is not, and you know it."
"Fine, be a baby about it, but you will be picking up the girls tomorrow
for school. You do not treat friends how you are treating them."
"You are right, I do not see them as friends now. Friends do not pull
tricks on friends to get them in a humiliating situation."
"Oh, it is a joke. You will be sorry if you do not see it that way. You
will lose three close friends by acting like a child, so you will pick
them up"
"No, I will not. I will just take the bus."
Daniel knew he would not be sorry losing the friendship of those three.
They tricked him when they pulled a dirty trick on him. Tiffany was too
happy with her gloating and the other two were just soaking in enjoying
his misery. Those girls were not the type of friends he wanted.
Louanne could not believe how difficult her son was being. The girls
pull one over on him and he should just accept it. Dan's mother could
not see that Dan was accepting the girls got him good and was only
giving them what he felt they deserved. To Daniel, the girls needed to
accept that they went too far. "Fine, you will not have access to the
car until you start hanging out with the girls again."

Dave Gore was fuming like lava which just hit the ground when he called
his ex-wife. She went behind his back once again and punished their son
without his input. They might not be a couple anymore, but they still
needed to be a team while disciplining their son. Him not being part of
the decision made it so their son would see her as more of an authority
figure than him.
Also, her punishment affected his parenting. Dan not having the car
meant that he could not make it over his Dad's for supper on Tuesday or
Thursday night. Dave worked unsociable hours at the foundry so during
the week he could only see his son when they ate supper on Tuesdays and
Thursdays. Dave used that time to make sure he was involved in his son's
life.
Plus, to Louanne's ex the punishment of taking away Dan's car privilege
did not make sense for the action of him not picking up his friends for
school. Dan had the right to decide who he was or was not going to drive
anywhere he was going. Dave question if his ex-wife was being petty
again about Dave leaving her. His answer was he would not put it past
her. It would reaffirm why he left.
The phone call confirmed to him that something more was going on than
Dan just not picking up the girls. The man who was in the dark also knew
it was nothing which his son did; if so his ex-wife would had made sure
that Dave knew the entire story. He was sure this punishment was
Louanne was not getting her way about something. He could not believe
how petty that woman could be.
*************
It was Tuesday night and June was in her room waiting for her informal
guitar lesson to begin. The aspiring singer-songwriter knew the guy who
was helping her improve playing was going to be a no show, but held out
hope. The next Joni Mitchell was also going to miss the conversation Dan
and her had during their jam session. She loved that he was helping her
become a better musician, but she enjoyed him taking her views seriously
more. His encouragement gave June the courage to write songs about the
world they live in and her point of view on the world.
*********
Friday afternoon came and this was the first time Dan spoke to the girls
since they confronted him about driving them to school. When he saw all
three of them at Tiffany's he was as disgusted as an Italian horror
movie with how Tiffany and Heather were acting, laughing at seeing him
when they opened the door. Those two claimed that they were mature yet,
they were gloating over winning the fixed bet. June was not gloating,
she was going to try to talk Tiffany out collecting on the bet made in
bad faith.
Dan said, "Where is the outfit?"
Tiffany was looking for a way out of it being the entire night while
still getting Dan in that outfit. In the back of her mind she was feel
bad about tricking her friend. She still wanted to be able to lord that
over him when she could not handle him giving back what she was dishing
out. Tiffany knew mentioning Dan in a dress would be the perfect can of
shut up to serve him anytime she wanted to make him quit talking, "How
about this Dan? Instead of you having to wear it out tonight. You just
put it on here for us girls to see, then you can take it off. "
June wanting this over mention that was a good compromise for the bet
being in bad faith. Tiffany quickly corrected her that the bet was good,
it was just Dan was outsmarted by the girls. Dan was not going to buy
this good girl, bad girl routine. June was no Tom Sawyer and wearing
that dress was no fence which needed to be painted.
June's remark was greeted with a response as cold as a winter's morning
in North Dakota by Dan. "June I am not going to let you three get what
you want from doing something in bad faith. That will just reward you
for being conniving. Don't try to act like you are doing me a favor by
trying to get what you want.
So, how about this, Tiffany gives me the outfit and I will be leaving."
June wanted to make this right. "Dan just hang out with us tonight. You
don't have to wear what Tiffany wants you to wear. Please, we can go
hang out at the mall then get some shakes at Sam's Town.
It can go back to how it used to be, you can come over my house after
you have dinner at your Dad's on Tuesday."
With them not being on the same page Dan took what June said the wrong
way. He did not see the truth, her as missing him being around; but her
missing what he did for them. "No, June. Until one of you have a car you
will be depending on your parents to drive you around. You really think
that I want to come over your house? You really think I want to hang out
with people who plan to pull one over on me behind my back?
I guess you girls really did outsmart me. Now just give me the outfit so
I can leave."
Heather asked, "How am I going to get home tonight?"
Dan said, "Ask Tiffany she is the smart one."
Tiffany did not like that Dan still did not learn his lesson. "You can't
go, you need make up also."
Dan shook his head in disbelievement. He could not believe that Tiffany
was trying to add more to the bet. He firmly said, "No."
"Yes, that is how I want you to dress. You need to to pay off the bet."
"Tiffany, makeup is not part of an outfit. You know that, if you wanted
makeup you should have mention it also during the bet. Remember, the
wording of the bet. Oh yeah you wanted to trick me in a dress not have a
date. That is why you are trying to add more to what we agreed to. You
will only get what we agreed upon."
June said, "Tiffany, Dan is right makeup is not part of an outfit."
***********
Daniel's feeling of betrayal was growing as he was changing to pay off
the tainted forfeit. Not until the boy put on the panties and bra did he
realize the magnitude of pain he felt about how his friends tricked him.
At that moment, Daniel knew he could never trust them again. He did not
mind jokes but hated things done behind other's back.
When he finally finished putting the skirt and halter top on he felt as
exposed as his midriff. He felt like he was doing something wrong by
just wearing the clothes. It was like he was lying to the public about
who he was.
Daniel carefully walked down the stairs for the last thing he wanted was
to fall. Just being in those clothes made him feel like he fell from who
he was, so he did not want to actually fall also. His mom was in the
living room and looked at him with disapproval on her face. He
understood why, her son was in a dress.
It was a shock to the young man when she stated her grievance about how
was dressed. "Why didn't you shave your legs and have makeup on. You get
back upstairs and pay off losing that bet, young man."
Daniel could not believe his mom's commands. He was not going to do it.
He was going to only follow the letter of the bet. "Mom I am paying off
the bet. It was she got to choose my outfit, nothing else"
"No, you are not, you look just like a boy joking around by wearing
women's clothing."
"Yes I do look like a boy joking around wearing women's clothing, but I
am paying off the bet. It was only Tiffany picking out the outfit."
"No, you are not. You're not in the outfit Tiffany picked for you."
Daniel was a little hesitant to say what he wanted to say. He knew it
would damage his relationship with his mother once he makes the
assertion he was going to. Yet he knew if he only alluded to her not
telling the truth it would not be strong enough. His mother had the
right to know how her son felt about her. "Yes, I am mom! And you are a
liar by trying to say I am not."
"Young man you watch your mouth."
"No. You know that makeup and shaving your legs are not part of an
outfit, yet you are trying to say it is. I never once heard a woman say
that the lipstick was part of the outfit. I have heard Tiffany, Heather,
June and you say things like that the lipstick went well with the
outfit. That means it is not part of it.
Also, you lied about Tiffany not cheating by having the answers. You
know that was a lie. You told Derrick you were disappointed in him for
he knew having the answers and questions made it not a test. You know
what Tiffany did was the same."
Louanne was not only hurt by the truth in her son's words, but also the
look of disappointment he had on his face. She knew she could not act
like what she was upset by the accusation anymore. It was the truth and
she needed to be honest with her son. Her trying to make what she knew
was wrong right would add to him thinking she was a liar. Her son might
have felt like he fell from how other people looked at him by wearing
that outfit but Louanne knew she was the one who fell. She fell from how
her son looked at her.
Her son also stating about how women mentioned makeup going well with an
outfit put doubts in that Dan had some backward views on women. There is
no way he would pay that close attention to people he disrespected when
they talked about a subject that Dan had no interest in. Martin had to
be mistaken about her son.
"Danny you are right. I just did not want the girls to not get one over
on you. They worked hard on it."
Louanne's confession did not have the desire effect of lessening her
son's disappointment in her. In fact, her honesty made him even think
less of her. In trying to make things better Louanne revealed she lied
about not being involved in the prank. Daniel quickly left the house to
pay off what he should not had to and said, "You were in on it also!"
The situation was not good at all. Louanne thought, "Oh shit" as Daniel
left as fast as his unsteady feet let him. She knew that her
relationship with her son was even more unsteady as him walking in those
heels. Her son knew she tricked him and there is no way Louanne could
expect him to trust her for a long time. Louanne knew she was going to
have to work hard at regaining what she lost.
**********
Heath del Mar was laughing when he saw Daniel Gore driving past him.
Even with the boy dressed as a girl having a coat on, Heath knew what
Daniel was wearing underneath it. Tiffany put the bet on Facebook
tonight. He made a suggestion of following Dan. The passengers in his
car, his girlfriend, Julia Quaid, and his two best friends, Bob Brawson
and Ed Pitts, knew this was their next little adventure.
Dan would have been home by now because he was only going to spend an
hour driving around town. His plans changed once he knew he could not
trust his mom. He did not want to be around her. It hurt too much to see
her. The sad part was he knew he could not move in with his dad. The
only way his father would agree to Dan living with him was if it was for
extraordinary circumstances. Yes, his mom deceiving him and making Dan
wear a skirt fit those circumstance; but there was no way his dad was
going to find that out. Dan did not want the man he admire to see him as
less of a man.
Dan had to relieve himself, but had another two hours before his curfew.
There was a better chance of him looking back on tonight later in life
and laughing about it than him going home a minute early. He was in
South Park and knew about a public restroom in a secluded area of the
park. It was used as a gay cruising area so Daniel knew the men there
would respect his privacy.
Seeing where Daniel was pulling in, the man who was going to get his
jollies by putting Dan down knew he could not have asked for a better
set up. It was going to be so easy to get under Dan's skin now by
mentioning that the he was looking for some action. Heath did wish that
there were more men around. That would so add to Daniel's embarrassment.
That did not matter for he was going to get on Dan as soon as he walked
out of the restroom.
As they waited for Daniel, Heath put a comment on Tiffany's post,
"Daniel looks so pretty in the park with that skirt." Dan did not see
his classmates were ready to joke about his outfit. The boy in a dress
was too worried about just getting back to his car to look around. He
was for gay rights but did not want to be hit on by a man. Dan felt how
he was dress and where he was that he was sending the wrong message to
men who were looking for company. It was like he was leading them on and
that was wrong to Dan.
Then, when Dan was about to open his car door he heard Heath's annoying
voice. The voice itself was not that annoying, it was the person the
voice came from which made it so. Heath thought it was fun to get people
upset and went on to do his favorite pastime by saying, "Daniel if I
knew you were looking for love I would have left Julia at home."
Julia rang in with, "Don't forget about how good Danny looks in that
skirt."
Those stupid lines got laughter from Heath and Julia's cohorts. Daniel
was not in the mood for childish remarks and reactions from childish
people. He fired right back at both of them, "Heath, you hoping I was
looking for some loving tonight explains why you go out with a girl that
looks like a man."
Heath was not going to take a man in a dress trying to put him down.
"Hey faggot, you apologize to Julia right now."
Daniel might be in a skirt, but that did not change who he was. He was
going to get the last word and laugh in. The boy who was not going to
back down said, "Julia, I am sorry that you hit every single branch on
your fall from the top of an ugly tree and hit the ugly ground of the
Ugly Forrest in your homeland of Uglyistan."
Heath thought that Daniel went too far and snapped. The boy, who could
not control his anger, ran to the target of his rage and push him.
Daniel, still not having the knack of being in , fell violently to the
ground when Heath pushed him. There was a loud thud as Dan's head landed
first with all his weight on it. Heath started to kick the unconscious
boy. Bob and Ed ran to pull their friend off the defensiveness
classmate. They agreed that Daniel was brutal in his response to Heath
joking around with him, but it did not give their friend the right to
attack Dan.
A couple of the men at the bottom of the parking lot ran up to put a
stop what they saw as gay bashing. Heath seeing those men approaching
and Daniel knocked out on the ground snapped him out of the rage. He
knew he had to get out of there right away. Heath was not going to let
himself get in trouble for doing what he saw as the right thing,
defending his girlfriend's honor.
***********
Tiffany Gahan and the other girls were hanging out as Daniel was paying
off the fixed bet. With his car, they were stuck at Tiffany's place but
made the best of it. Tiffany was laughing along with Heather as they
were talking about the horrible night that their friend Daniel Gore must
have been having. He had to go out and about in a skirt. The fact she
won a rigged contest to put her friend in it did not bother them at all.
Tiffany was sick of Daniel always having to one up her when she joked
around. Now she can just mention this to him to shut him up.
To those two, this humiliating event being known by everyone served Dan
right. Tiffany and Heather were sick of his attitude, it was better to
be a man than a woman. Even with it not being his view, those two
convinced themselves otherwise. It was justification of them not liking
him being mad at them. They asked themselves how could that such an
otherwise nice guy have sexist beliefs. They did not care that he joked
about men being better when they would joke about women being better.
Those two knew it was better to be a woman than a man. Yes, they could
not see the irony of him holding what they thought as a sexist belief
for it went against their sexist belief. If they held themselves up to
the same standards as they held Daniel, they would have.
June did not join in, she really was having a bad feeling about how they
tricked their friend. To June, Tiffany and Heather's schadenfreude
towards Dan was them being sadistic. One should not get pleasure in
seeing their friend have troubles, failures, or humiliation. It was
feeling good about your friend being down.
Tiffany's post on Facebook about Daniel being in a skirt to pay off
losing the bet added to the ill omen June was feeling. It was implied
the prank was going to be private, but Tiffany went against it, when she
did not get her way. She was also going to only follow the letter of the
bet. Tiffany wanted to end up with the last laugh and did not think
about how it betrayed her friend's trust in her.
Lastly the recent change of narrative about Daniel joking back did not
feel right. It felt manufactured and it was. Martin put that false idea
into Tiffany and Heather's head that Daniel just giving them what they
were saying back was wrong.
Then Tiffany's got a phone call. It was Daniel's mom, Louanne Gore. "How
did you let this happen?"
"What are you talking about?"
"What happened to my poor son tonight that is what. You were supposed to
be there with him."
"He did not want me to and with that not being part of the bet he was
going to back out of it if I was. Anyway, nothing bad happened other
than your son was put in his place."
Ms Gore was too upset, so she talked to Tiffany like she knew Daniel was
fighting for his life in a hospital room. The mother snapped back, "You
knew I only agreed to this for you said you would be there to watch over
him. This was not part of the agreement. You
My Danny is not doing good, he did not deserve this. How dare you say he
is in his place!"
"Oh, his feelings are hurt. All that happened was he had a night out in
a skirt and was humiliated for thinking men are better than women. We
showed him that women are better than men."
"Who cares if being a man or a woman is better? I will say one thing, my
Dan going through with paying the bet even after he found out you
cheated makes him a better person than all of us."
"I did not cheat. You said so yourself."
"Oh, quit trying to defend what we did. You know I sided with you for I
was in on this trick you pulled. Heather found that quiz with all the
trick questions online and knew the questions and answers before you
even made the bet. We set my son up and now I do not if I will ever see
him again."
"Oh, did the poor baby run away from being mocked."
"My poor baby cannot run for he is in the hospital."
Tiffany was still mad at Daniel for he would not let her see him in a
skirt. He followed the letter of the bet, just like she has been doing.
The girl, who did not like it when people use the same tricks she did on
her, assumed it was just an ankle sprain from wearing high heels. "Oh,
his ankle will get better. Tonight, gave your son some humility and he
will take into account what a woman has to go through in life."
Ms Gore realized then she did not tell Tiffany what happened. "Dear it
is not his ankle, he has a fracture skull and swelling of the brain
along with other less serious injuries from a beating. He is not doing
well at all."
Tiffany's tone and attitude changed. The girl who was feeling guilty
repeated to herself this was not supposed to happen and know how it did
occur. Yet, trying to be innocent she still asked, "How did this
happen?"
"How do you think? Some cavemen beat him up for they saw him in a dress.
This was not supposed to happen, you said nothing would happen to my
son. You were going to be with him. You were not going to leave the
house. You said you would call it off if he would not be with you."
Even with Tiffany being worried about her friend she was not going to
take any blame for this yet. "I was going to call it off, but he left
with my clothes before I could. This would not have had happened if he
would had follow the bet.
"You should have called it off when he stated he was leaving. Plus, he
did follow the bet. You were not smart enough to say that the loser had
to be with the winner."
Tiffany's friends started to ask her questions while she was still on
the phone. It was hard for her to pay attention with everyone talking at
her and absorbing the bad news about Daniel. Ms Gore took Tiffany's
silence as her taking this seriously. "You know should had been there."
I do not know why we agreed to this, I do not know how I let you and
your dad talk me into this. I should had been the adult. All the adults
should had been the adults. Tell your mom and dad about my Danny. I hope
they get a laugh like we all did when we agreed to it, I know I didn't.
This was not supposed to happen."
Tiffany was as white as a solitude cloud in a sunny sky as she called
her parents up to her room. When her mom and dad were there Tiffany
explained what has happened to the boy they were just picking on behind
his back. Everyone in the room, except June, were agreeing with her
about they were not to blame. June knew that people were not responsible
for other people's actions, but they did put Dan in danger.
June said, "Tiffany I said we should had call it off when Dan was not
going to be with us while he was dressed."
"June quit that, he had the choice to be with us and tell the truth he
should had been. He lost the bet."
Martin also was not going to admit their guilt. "June, my daughter is
right."
June stood her ground, she was not going to let pressure from anyone
make her not say what she knew was right. , "No, she is not Mr Gahan!
Yes, Dan lost the bet, which was fixed. He followed it to the letter.
The bet was not for us to see him in the outfit you picked for him, but
for him to dress in the outfit you picked."
Tiffany was willing to say anything but what she had to, the truth, to
get rid of the guilt. "The point of the bet was for us to see him in a
skirt and put him in his place. He was always one upping us when we
would joke with him. How he did so was so sexist also."
Tiffany was not as cold as she was acting right now. She was not able to
accept her part in how her friend ended up in an operating room, with a
team of surgeons fighting to save his life.
June dug in more. "That might had been the point, but it was not the
bet. Dan went with the letter of the bet just like you did. You did so
when you said the outfit you were picking for him to wear was that jean
skirt with a halter top. Then you pointed out there was no date. We
messed up, all of us."
"No, we did not. Dan should not had acted like a baby."
Martin and Donna agreed with their daughter. They were going to try to
use the numbers against the girl to get June to come around to their way
of thinking. To not to point out why they were wrong. Them trying to
defend their mistake had the opposite effect. June had enough, she was
going to the hospital to see how Dan was doing. She knew the only way to
do so was to end this bickering. "Yeah he really acted like a baby. Dan
was the one who could not take what he dished out. Dan was the one who
tricked you into taking the bet. Dan was the one who knew the questions
and answers beforehand. Dan was the one who rubbed in the fact that he
outsmarted us. Wait, no that was us. We were the ones who acted like the
babies
I was mad at Dan for not speaking to us until now. I do not blame him, I
would also not have if that was pull on me. I just hope he is fine."
***********
After a couple of hours, the three girls along with their parents were
all at the hospital to console Louanne and her ex-husband, Dave Gore,
about Dan's condition. Actually, they were only consoling Louanne; Dave
wanted nothing to do with any of them. Even his ex-wife. Dave got his
wife barred from the Dan's room when he found out her role in their son
being in such a dire situation. The guilt-stricken mom knew she was to
blame for putting her son in harm's way and did not object to Dave's
request.
This included June's mom and Heather's dad. It was true that those two
were active in the prank of getting his son in a dress, but Dave did not
care. To him being passive when something wrong was happening was just
as good as being part of it. Those two should have put a stop to the
adults acting like children. They should have told him what was going
on. It was not bad enough that his son was fighting for his life, those
people were trying to absolve themselves from blame. In his eyes, the
irate dad was using the word people loosely in describing them.
Martin Gahan could not take seeing his baby girl so upset. He knew that
hearing from Dave would help her feel better about herself. It would not
hurt Dave to tell Tiffany the truth. Dan's condition was not her fault.
She had no control over the actions of others. That man needed to look
out for others right now, even with what happened to his son.
Martin approach Dave and explain his point of view to the grieving man."
David, I know you are upset now. But you do not take it out on people
who had nothing to do with your son being in the hospital.
Dave was not having this man who raised a brat trying to downplay her
role in his son fighting for his life, "Listen here bub, your daughter
tricked my son into a bet and sent him out on his own. Yeah, he could
had stay with her, but she would had ridden him even harder about being
in a skirt. This was all over her not liking that my son gave back what
she was giving out."
"David, I know you are mad but don't call me bub. My name is Martin; you
know that, so use it.
Your son going out in a skirt could had given him some valuable lessons
if he just went along with the girl's plan. He could have learned to
respect people. That women should not be judged by what they wore and
also not be so concern about what a girl looks like. He should not had
been so stubborn and just took his lumps."
Point at Martin to make a point Dave said, "Listen here bub! I will call
you what I want."
Then Dave talked louder so Frank Gahan, Martin's son, could hear him.
"So, with being in a skirt being a valuable lesson for a boy, when are
you going to parade your son around in one."
"Frank treats women with respect so he needs not to learn that lesson."
Martin's self-righteousness was just adding fuel to the fire inside
Dave. Daniel's dad was also not going to let Martin lie about why this
happened. In Dave's little talk with his ex he found out that the group
was trying to teach Daniel a lesson about not always trying to one up
someone when they were joking around. "Now listen here bub, you are a
weak willed little man. Just because you and your son let people joke to
you without joking back in no ways mean you treat them with respect. It
just means you do not have the testicular fortitude to stand up for
yourself. Well, my son does.
I taught him if someone jokes with you, you joke back. If you do not,
then you will become the comic relief of the group. When the group will
treat you like comic relief. You are not really part of the group. They
start to downplay how you take what they see as joshing around
I also know that you planted the idea in your daughter's head to pull
this prank. I do not know why and do not care. So, get out of my face
bub; for I am not in the mood to deal with someone who plays jokes on
kids and raised a brat like your daughter telling me I did not do an
excellent job raising my son."
June could not take Mr Gahan down talking Dan to the grieving Dad
anymore. What made it worse was Tiffany's dad was lying to try to make
himself look better. Dan might have had a smart mouth and would fire
back when people joke with him, but he had respect for all. She went
over to join the conversation. "Mr Gahan, Dan does have respect for
women. I wouldn't be friends with him if he did not. We got mad for he
always joked right back with us. He made sure we never piled up on him
and tell the truth he was the only one we ever ganged up on."
Martin did not like that a teenager was correcting him. That act was so
disrespectful in his eyes. "Oh sweetie, you are just upset for you are
blaming yourself for what happened to Dan. Like I told you it is not our
fault. Quit being so emotional."
It was not his intent, but Martin came off as being condescending to
June. "You talk about respect and you just called me sweetie and
downplayed me knowing my friend better than you. You are the one who
needs that lesson which you claim that Dan needs. Maybe you should wear
a dress for work on Monday."
Martin was not deal with June, in his mind she was just being
hysterical. The man who wanted his daughter to feel better just blew off
what she said. How condescending and hypocritical his thoughts and
actions were would had been lost on him if he heard what he thought. It
did not matter what that little girl said and went back to trying to get
his goal, his daughter feeling better. "While Dave, just to let you know
Tiffany is sorry about your son. You should let her know that means
something."
The irate father's nostril flared up like the British's sky on Guy
Fawkes' night as he said, "Fine."
Dave went right over to Tiffany and she was more than happy to be able
to say sorry to him. Him accepting her apology would ease the pain she
was feeling about the situation. Before she could state her remorse,
Dan's father stopped her and instructed her to come with him. There was
not one word spoken on their trip to wherever Dan was taking her. Then
the it dawned on her where. Mr Gore was taking her. It was the IC ward.
The girl did not want to go to the IC ward. Tiffany did not want to face
the results of her actions and new she was not going to like where they
were going once they enter the IC ward, Daniel's room.
They made it to Dan's room. She saw her friend with tubes going down his
throat and more out of his arms. She heard the cold lifeless beating of
the monitors and the mechanical breathing which was forcing oxygen into
her friend's lungs. Heather went to run out of the room and was blocked
by her guide standing in the doorway. Mr Gore said, "Before you say
sorry to me. Say sorry to my son."
Looking right at her unconscious friend's dad Tiffany said, "I am sorry.
This was not supposed to happen."
"Say it to my son first!"
"Why? He can't hear me. Having me see him is so cruel of you."
"I am having you see him so you know what your actions brought upon him.
You are also here for another reason. You need to know I will not be
able to forgive you until my son is able to the same. I told the same
thing to my ex-wife."
***********
Dave stayed in his son's room after Tiffany left. He did not want to be
around anyone. He felt betrayed and lonely. He also was blaming himself
about Dan's critical condition. Dave knew why his son also left him in
the dark. Dan would have felt shame telling him what Louanne was making
him do. Dave believed if he was more nurturing his son would have been
able to open up to him about the prank without worrying about him being
judgmental. It would have been put to a stop.
Dave was bobbing in and out of consciousness as there was a knock on the
door frame. It was his ex-wife. Louanne came to inquire about if her
exile from seeing her son was over. The banishment of being with Daniel
for the last 10 hours have been the true definition of hell to her,
being denied the feeling of love. Louanne believed that her penance
should be over by now and that her ex was level headed enough to see she
should be with her youngest child.
Dave's ban of her being around their son was not about punishing or
extracting revenge on her for making a bad decision. He was not petty
and knew she felt bad enough without him adding to her misery. The man
who had the best interest of his son in mind thought her not being
around was what was best for Dan.
"Dave, is it ok if I come in the room?"
Louanne knew the answer was no before Dave said anything. Him getting up
from his chair told her so. He did not want to have this conversation
within earshot of Dan. Dan needed to be where he was recovering to be
tranquil. Having the presence of someone that Daniel would give credit
to putting him this bed would be a disturbance. Also, Dave did not know
if he could hold his cool around his ex.
"Louanne, until our son can make his own decision about who comes into
the room, no. I have to do what is best for our son."
"His mother being there for him is what is best for Dan. Don't take your
anger at me out on him."
"You gave birth to him, but you have not been acting like a mother to
our son. You punished him by taking away his car without talking with me
over nothing. You put him in a dress and sent him out in public."
"Oh, so we finally know what this is about. You don't like I made a
decision without your permission. I can punish my son how I see fit. I
do not need your approval for every little thing I do with Daniel."
"Taking away his car and putting him in a dress are not little things He
is not your son, he is our son. I talk with you about getting him a car,
to make sure you were fine with it. You need to make sure we are on the
same page.
We might have gotten a divorce from our marriage that does not mean we
got a divorce from being parents. We need to function as a team."
"It was not a dress."
Louanne correcting Dave about something as insignificant as calling a
skirt a dress caused exactly what the man who wanted to stay even keeled
happen. He became tilted. "Our son is fighting for his life right now
and you are worried about correcting me about something as trivial as me
calling a skirt a dress. It being a skirt instead of a dress does not
make a difference.
You really think that I am barring you to be petty? To try to make you
hurt? In your mind, there should be nothing I can do which would make
you hurt anymore right now with the condition our son is in. I am doing
this for you did not look out for him when you should have and I still I
do not think you will be looking out for him if you were in his room
now. I think you want to be in his room to put on a good show for
others."
"How dare you think that about me? I love my son and need to be there
for him."
"Then be there for him in spirit even if you cannot be there for him in
person. It should not matter where you are right now."
"I need to be there when Daniel wakes up to tell him I am sorry. I need
him to know that this was not supposed to happen. I need him to know
that I should have question what Martin said about him. I messed up big
time with our son and need to start making this right."
Dave saw the pain his ex-wife had, and he embraced her. He did not want
her to feel any worse than she already did. Dave only wanted to make
sure his ex had the best interest of their son in the reasons behind her
actions now. Her admitting that she messed up, and starting to say our
son instead of her son, told Dave she was looking out for others now.
That with Louanne took down the defensiness she had up to try to make
her actions not as bad in her eyes as they were.
Dave wanted his son to be surrounded by love and right then he needed to
have another talk with Martin. "Lou Lou, go see our son. I do not want
him to be alone. I need to go have a talk with someone right now."
***********
Martin was wondering who would be rude enough to pound on his front door
to knock instead of using the doorbell. He open it and thought he should
have known it was who was at the door, Dave. How that man would call him
bub at the hospital last night made it no wonder that Daniel needed a
lesson in manners and respect. There was one thing certain Dave was
going to show Martin the respect he deserved. It was Martin's house, so
it was Martin's rules.
"What do you want Dave?"
"Bub, what exactly did you say to my ex about my son?"
"If you are going to be rude just leave."
Donna heard the commotion and went to the front door. She understood why
Dave was upset and was more than willing to placate him by putting on
with him being a little rude. "Honey, go finish your coffee, I got this.
Is there any news on Daniel?"
"His condition is getting better. His vitals has stabilized and the
swelling in his brain is going down. He is not totally out of the woods
yet, but we can see the clearing.
I am not here to give an update on him. I am here to find out what bub
said about Daniel to Louanne."
"He said nothing."
"Don't bullshit me. I know he said something to make her go along with
this joke. Louanne said she should have never listen to him."
"Oh, he just told her about the plan. I know now it was stupid, but all
Martin wanted was for once Daniel not to get the last laugh."
"I told you, don't to bullshit me. He said to me it was about my son
learning a lesson about respecting women. Something about my son being
concerned too much about how women dressed."
Donna was not bullshitting Dave, she believed the explanation she gave
him was the truth. Now the right words went into the wrong ears for
Martin's full participation to remain a secret. She knew that Daniel was
not a pig when it came to the clothes women wore and wanted to get to
the bottom of this. Donna called Tiffany to the door.
The last thing Martin wanted was people to know all of his true
intentions for pulling the prank. "Donna, it was both. I did not want
Louanne to back out and just to want to have a talk with Daniel. He
would not have paid attention."
Now that was bullshit and Donna knew it was. Martin knew his wife did
not believe what he told her, but still try to play it off. "Tiffany no
need to come. I cleared it up."
Donna wanted to hear from her daughter and said, "Tiffany come here
now."
Tiffany got there and she felt so guilty seeing Mr Gore. She knew the
pain he was in and that he blamed her. She was starting to blame herself
but thought that was only because Mr Gore pulled a guilt trip on her by
making Tiffany see her friend on life support. The guilt got worse when
her mom asked the girl what her dad's reason was for pulling the prank.
It pained her that she was going to have to talk ill about someone who
was laying in a hospital bed. "It is for Daniel can be so sexist. He is
always saying that boys are better than girls. Dad had enough of it and
pointed it out to me. I did not even notice until then."
Dave bit his tongue not to say bullshit right away. He wanted to give
Donna the chance to do so. It was her daughter and she should be the one
who pointed out Tiffany was as wrong as dunking a chocolate chip cookie
in orange juice about Dan being sexist. Donna did not disappoint Dave.
"Tiffany, Daniel only says that after you or one of the girls say girls
are better than boys. You should know that he was just playing back with
you.
Now Martin, you full well know that he was just giving what the girls
were giving. What was the real reasons behind playing this joke and
don't bullshit me."
Martin could not believe that his wife was now being rude. Her use of
foul language was exactly why he wanted to put a stop to Daniel getting
closer to Tiffany. He wanted his daughter to be a prim and proper lady
and Daniel was a bad influence. "Donna don't say bullshit about what I
am saying. It is just disrespectful, and you have better manners than
that."
"Oh, shut up about manners. Now, tell us why you wanted to pull this
prank."
"Fine. I wanted to bust his chops like he busted ours."
"What are you talking about?"
"He thought it was funny to point out that I forgot about the pottery
class and planned to go play poker. That could have caused a huge fight
between us."
"Martin, we busted his chops about him saying that Marvel movie did not
open up until the following weekend so he could spend time with
Tiffany."
It was harder than a diamond for Dave to stay quiet after he heard why
Martin did and interrupted Donna, "You pull a stunt like that for my son
joked back with you?"
Martin wanted to make sure no one thought he was petty. It was not about
the joke, but about respect. It was about making sure his daughter did
not date someone who needed lessons from Miss Manners. "No, it was
because your son needs manners. He needs to learn respect. There was no
way I was going to let him start to date my daughter. You would also go
