Chapter 8
"Better than I expected?" replied Alex, giving her a look. "How could
I..?"
"Of course she did," interrupted his mother, leaning in and hugging
him as he let go of Kayla's hand. "Great job tonight, my sweet love."
"Thanks. I love you too, mom," said Alex, a bit humbled. "And thanks
for throwing me such an expensive party, and maybe we'll just talk
about the stuff you went over the top on that I'll need some help
fixing tomorrow."
"I have no idea what you're talking about dear?" smiled his mother,
touching his tiara. "And you know I still can't believe this thing
has barely moved, Can you?"
"Mom?" Alex glared, with a big smile on his face.
"Don't you worry about that tonight?" said his mother, wiping the
lipstick smudges from his cheeks. "I'm sure you kids still have
enough energy to go have some fun, so I expect you won't be home
again, Alex?"
"Well-" Alex looked over at Kayla who just smiled at Mrs. Alessio.
"Ok then." "I'll see you tomorrow on your actual birthday dear."
"Sounds good, Mrs. Alessio, because I'm not feeling tired and its
going to take me who knows how long just to get all the pins off his
head, plus probably like half the night to brush out all these curls
and get all this makeup off the birthday girl," said Kayla, softly
touching his hair looking at him and batting her lashes at him. "So
you ready to head out, Alex?"
"Oh?" Alex smiled, enjoying her touch. "Definitely."
"I thought you might be," Kayla touched his cheek. "Go say goodnight
to your dad and Ronnie. The limo's outside."
"Really?" said Alex. "We still have it?"
Kayla just smiled and nodded as Alex quickly turned, hugging his
mother one last time.
"Good night mom. Dad," Alex said and then turning and hugging his
father and then smiling, seeing his brother passed out, sleeping
across two chairs. "And tell the squirt I'll see him in the morning."
His mother nodded before blowing him a kiss goodbye and then he
hurried outside hand in hand with Kayla as they scampered into the
limo.
"Oh my gawd my feet are killing me," said Alex, plopping down in the
limo and tossing his silver clutch purse on the seat next to him.
"Its finally over"
"Yup," replied Kayla, sitting across from him.
"No, really it's over, right?" Alex asked, stretching out his legs.
"No more surprises, right?"
"Yes you wild dancing machine, it's over," nodded Kayla, shaking her
head. "Happy birthday Alex."
"Wow, you never cease to shock me Kayla," smirked Alex. "So we're
hitting a club now?"
"Really?" said Kayla. "You still want to?"
"Well, that was what I was expecting tonight. So why not?" said Alex.
"I'm all dressed up in this sexy fucking dress with these
ridiculously hot shoes. What the hell!"
"Damn, party girl!" laughed Kayla. "I'm impressed and loving the
idea, but I thought we'd just stay in now. You know, just you and
me."
"You mean like you and Alex, or you and Alexandra?" asked Alex, very
curious.
"Well both, and they're one in the same," said Kayla, reaching over
and taking his hand, rubbing his fingers. "You ok with that, because
I do love the name Alexandra, but you're still and have always been
Alex to me."
"Well not to everyone else after you just told the world that I'm
some diva," said Alex, giving her a look.
"Ahhhh... no I didn't?" said Kayla, pulling away her hand.
"Stop Kayla, of course you did," said Alex. "I'm not mad anymore, but
there's not a person there you didn't tell I was a girl now."
"Ahhhh, once again!" replied Kayla with some attitude. " No!"
"Were you drinking more than champagne?" asked Alex, lifting the edge
of his skirt, flipping the edge of the flirty tulle. "You're really
trying to say you didn't? Helloooo blondie!"
"For your information, all I did was discuss it with you mother and
we'd been discussing everything for a long time," said Kayla, barking
at him a little. "She told the immediate family, and I lined up the
dais, but that's it."
"You're saying no one else knew?" asked Alex, not believing her.
"Yup, that's what I'm saying, princess." Kayla broke eye contact,
looking at her nails while she answered him.
"Bullshit!" yelped Alex, getting pissed. "They all flipped when they
saw me. Screamed and whistled when I popped off that platform. They
all loved it."
"Why wouldn't they? You stood there posing and smiling like a super
model, and then marched in like you owned the place?"
Kayla rolled her eyes. "Everyone thought you looked fabulous, and of
course you did."
"Well," gulped Alex. "I doubt I was smiling, and if I was, that was
my nerves while I was in shock.
Plus I have no memory of any marching, just some boys carrying me
in."
"Yeah well, just watch the video when we get it then, and we'll see
whose right?" said Kayla.
"I know there was a photographer, which is bad enough, but there was
a video guy there filming the whole thing?" gulped Alex.
"Seriously, and I'm the blonde?" laughed Kayla. "There were two of
them. You think your mother would forget that?"
"Oh gawwddd," Alex sighed. "I know she won't. She'll be watching that
for years, reminding me of this day."
"So? What's the big deal?" Kayla asked, before cracking a smile.
"You're naturally cute, but you can't look this hot every day you
know?"
"Not funny," said Alex, having to laugh for a second. "But how do I
deal with this? The whole school now thinks I want to be a girl, and
so does my whole family. They talked to me like I am one already, and
some like I was always one."
"Well, that they got that from you, not me," replied Kayla, gesturing
with her hands, pushing back.
"How?" whined Alex.
"How, really?" smiled Kayla, smacking her forehead. "Did I need to
get you a mirror again, party girl?"
"That's just so wrong Kayla," said Alex, trying to rationalize the
reactions in his mind. "No way would they think it just from looking
at me for the first time, right?"
"Who knows? ...and I'm not saying they were convinced from just
seeing you...." said Kayla with her index finger on her chin, tapping
it. "But how about from you acting like a spoiled princess, taking
pictures with everyone making silly girlie and kissy faces, and
well.... if that wasn't convincing, how about you practically humping
the two sexy dancers. Trust me, that I can't even get out of my
mind?"
"Oh gawwwd," gulped Alex. "I don't even remember half of what
happened already, and all I had were a few glasses of champagne. Some
of this is so vivid, but somethings are just a blur."
"So how about the part where you made out with your boyfriend in
front of the whole place," smirked Kayla. "Ring a bell?"
"It was nothing," said Alex, turning beet red. "I...I...You saw
that?"
"Yup," nodded Kayla, rolling her eyes.
"Please don't tell me people think I have a boyfriend," said Alex.
"He kissed me and I was off balance. It just happened, and I didn't
expect it."
"Maybe, but you seemed to enjoy it, and it didn't stop you from
dancing with him again, did it?" smirked Kayla.
"Well, how could I avoid it?" said Alex, defending himself. "It was
my sweet sixteen, and everyone wanted to dance with me. I got dragged
out there constantly, and you let him cut in. I danced with lots of
guys."
"I know you did," giggled Kayla, patting his leg.
"That's not what I mean," moaned Alex. "You know that, Kayla!"
"I know, and it hasn't been that easy on me, but I'm dealing with
it?" said Kaya, reaching out and rubbing his bare leg. "Dancing,
kissing, whatever? The boys love you, and I'd say that's been proved
this weekend, right?"
"I hope not?" gulped Alex.
"Why?" said Kayla, rationalizing. "I think it's been good for you,
and really from what I saw, I think you need quite a bit more
practice kissing cute boys. It did look a little lame."
"Please stop that, and you've never complained about our kissing,"
said Alex, a little insulted. "Other things sure, but never that."
"True, but it's different being kissed than it is being the one
initiating the kissing. Well at least I think it is," Kayla slid her
finger gently across his thigh. "But really I don't know too much
about kissing a girl except you, so maybe we could stop talking about
your boyfriend and work on that, as tonight was amazing as parties go
but it really wasn't as hot as I expected for me?"
"What part?" asked Alex. "Me looking like this because I thought you
said I was hot, or you talking about us kissing?"
"Well definitely not the first part," said Kayla, raising her brows.
"You know I think you look incredible, and I picked everything your
wearing. Of course you know I think you're hot."
"So then you're saying our kiss sucked tonight? laughed Alex. "I
can't believe you?"
"Seriously?" said Kayla, getting annoyed. "You barely kissed me."
"We made out for five minutes, and then you helped me fix my makeup,"
said Alex. "Was that a blur? You forgot that?
"We had a moment in the bathroom waiting for you little brother while
he peed and farted his brains out in ladies room stall," said Kayla
with some attitude, as she began rolling off things, counting
fingers. "You call that romantic after I brought you a thousand
dollar dress, shoes every bitch would kill for, had them fucking redo
every damn curl until they were perfect, made sure not a fucking
detail was missed! I worked two fucking jobs to make sure that you
were you treated like royalty!"
"Like I.... Forget that...Thank you," gulped Alex, starting to argue
and then catching himself. "In case I didn't say it, I love you."
"I didn't need you to say thank you, and I'm sorry. I don't want to
fight. That wasn't my point, and your welcome," said Kayla, calming
herself right down and taking a breath. "I threw you the birthday
bash of your life because I love you no matter what, and I got kissed
in the stinky smelly bathroom?"
"Come on, that bathroom was extravagant and not that stinky," joked
Alex, reaching out his hand. "And that wasn't our only kiss."
"You know what I meant," smiled Kayla, taking his hand and
intermingling their fingers.
"You're really counting the two times we kissed for like five seconds
while we danced, or is it the air kissing on my cheeks we did to each
other just like you did with like fifty other girls that you want me
to acknowledge."
"Well, I thought I wasn't supposed to ruin my makeup, and I wasn't
sure what I should do when we danced," Alex rubbed her fingers. "I
wasn't sure if we were supposed to be like lesbians in front of
everyone, or what the hell we should be. It's not like I had any
instructions or warning on any of this."
"Ok, I guess," said Kayla, a little disappointed, rubbing his finger
back.
"Oh come on," said Alex, pleading. "You cried during my speech for
your candle, so doesn't that tell you all you need to know, and isn't
that even better than even one of my kisses."
"Maybe," nodded Kayla slowly. "That was special, but I just
thought..."
"Please, Kayla," Alex interrupted. "I'm sorry, if I would have known
I would have kissed you all night and done anything you wanted, but
how could I have known?"
"It's fine. Let's get past it," nodded Kayla, patting his leg twice.
"I prepared myself either way mentally, not sure if people would
think we were still a couple or I was just a girl in the dais, so
really I'm not so sure I was ready to be outed as something I think
I'm probably not anyway."
"And I am?" asked Alex. "I'm not gay."
"I didn't say you were?" said Kayla, twisting her neck. "And why
would it bother you either way? That's not the person I know in front
of me? Don't be like that?"
"I'm not?" said Alex, sulking a touch. "You know I'm not like that."
"Good, because I love this Alex, and I think you're finally in touch
with your feminine side, that maybe you've been depressed all your
life," Kayla leaned in, softly giving him a kiss. "This Alex is truly
beautiful both inside and out, and I guess it just so happens that
she looks stunning in anything I pick out for her."
"Maybe," Alex smiled, thinking about it.
"It's nothing to be embarrassed about?" said Kayla, looking into his
eyes. "Sure, those feelings might have had needed a push to escape
from wherever they were trapped in you, but in one night you knocked
down the wall between yourself and your father, and became a loving
big sister that you were never as a brother, and really popped out of
that shell you typically keep on around all your friends and family.
Honestly, it touched my heart and some many hearts."
"Yeah, I never expected any of that," nodded Alex, almost feeling
emotional again. "I guess I make a better girl than a guy."
"No comment," laughed Kayla.
"Hey!" laughed Alex.
"Sorry?" giggled Kayla. "Really though, I think you learned more
about what a good man should be while being a woman than you could
have ever learned as a boy. Isn't that crazy?"
"When you're right? You're right!" smiled Alex, leaning in, softly
kissing her. "And even after all this, I guess that's why I still
love you and could never be mad you?"
"And why would you be mad at me?" laughed Kayla, throwing up her
hands. "Remember you promised me you wouldn't ....you pretentious
little diva?"
"I'll give you a diva," Alex laughed, giving her a little tickle
before pulling back, looking at his finger. "Damn that's not easy
with these nails. That hurt."
"Yeah, and I think you scratched me," Kayla said, feeling at her rib
cage through her dress. "Now I'll be the one mad at you."
"Not if I break a nail," joked Alex, feeling his tip as it was sore
being bent back for a moment. "Now fuck it! Come on, let's go dancing
and party! Plus I guess I need to catch up on some special kissing."
"Well you do still look really hot, so if you insist," said Kayla,
leaning in, kissing him much deeper now.
"But we don't really need to go anywhere to catch up on kissing, do
we? We've got this private fancy limo stocked with champagne for a
little longer, so it would be a shame to waste the ambiance, wouldn't
it?"
"Ambiance?" sighed Alex, as she placed her hand on his thigh, sliding
it under his skirt. "Ohhhh?"
"Exactly my sweet sixteen, and the thing is it's almost midnight,"
sighed Kayla, giving him a kiss and talking to him, inches from his
mouth. "Minutes from now is your actual birthday, so I thought you'd
rather slip into your birthday suit."
"You kidding?" Alex asked, dying inside. "Please don't screw with me
like that after all I've been through. My nerves can't take anymore
today"
"Fine, more like me in my birthday suit then, so stay dressed if you
want to," said Kayla, reaching behind and unzipping her dress. "And
today is seconds from being over, so let's hope they can, birthday
girl."
"Get me out of this dress, Kayla," said Alex, drooling and reaching
his hand behind his back. "Please undo the straps, and I need help.
There's like a thousand pins on my head."
"Slow down, and let's just enjoy this," said Kayla, kissing him and
undoing the back of his dress. "Birthday suit was an expression, but
I wouldn't mind seeing you in that pretty lingerie we picked out,
Alexandra. Don't you want to see me in mine?"
"More than anything," sighed Alex, wiggling out of the dress in the
car.
"I thought you would," Kayla stuck her tongue in his mouth, making
out for a bit and then stepped back, dropping her dress from her
body.
"Holy shit, you look incredible," sighed Alex, as his eyes bulged out
of his head.
As she kicked off her dais party pink dress, his mouth began
watering, seeing her in ice white lingerie with some soft pink tiny
details. The strapless half cup mini bustier sat holding up her
bodacious mounds and exposed the entire top of her boobs while
showing a hint of her nipple. Below it, her tight abs looked
incredible, centered by a double studded diamond rhinestone naval
piercing that sat just above her white garter belt that connected to
her nude stockings with white lacey tops. If he would have known she
had on just a g-string instead of cotton panties, he may have never
made it through his own party without exploding.
Regardless though, the innocence of little pink silk bows across her
garter belt, between her mounds at the middle of her bustier, and
across the edge of her g-string just cemented her purity that he had
waited seemingly forever to take.
"Thank you. I thought white would be appropriate for both of us,"
smiled Kayla, loving the way he looked at her as they both had on
white lingerie. "Well mostly white, since we're virgins, but we can't
claim that either of us is too pure. Plus how much more delicious
could you look tonight, pretty girl?"
Kayla bit her lip, looking like she was a playmate in a magazine,
almost popped his head off, as he had dreamed his entire life of
sleeping with a busty blonde in sexy lingerie. What was never in his
fantasy was that he would be dressed in it as well, as he donned the
same white garter belt and stockings with the little pink trim, but a
different bar and panty. With a bustier that was more low cut on his
back not to show in his dress, and full cups designed to hold in the
little falsies he had, he somehow looked more innocent than she did.
Maybe it was the combination of his lack of real curves, with a
sparkly tiara on his head, but he could care less, as his manhood had
already been freed from it's panty.
Oh Kayla," gulped Alex, trying to lean in and kiss her again.
"Not that fast, you sexy bitch," said Kayla, pouring them some
champagne. "It would be a shame to waste this expensive lingerie
until the clock strikes midnight."
"Please, Kayla," cried Alex, dying to have her as she handed him a
glass. "Pleasssee."
"Politeness will get you laid in about thirty seconds from now,
Cinderella," smiled Kayla, wrapping her wrist around his and clicking
his glass. "Oh, and the birthday hat stays on for now birthday girl,
or you might need to wait a week before I can get all those pins out.
Cheers!"
"Cheers. I love you," said Alex, taking a sip and kissing her softly.
"I know you do, and I love you too," said Kayla, kissing him back and
sipping. "But sex or no sex, will you be mad at me tomorrow, birthday
girl?"
"No. I'm only sixteen once, and I guess a beautiful sweet sixteen
forever," said Alex, leaning in and kissing her. "I'm done being mad
at you, and I'm not sure if I even ever was ...that is unless you
hold out on sex again?"
"I'm not. Everything just seems so perfect, and feels so right," said
Kayla, as a tear now streamed down her cheek. "But I still need you
to promise me, because I can't have you mad at me that you blossomed
into this gorgeous girl tonight. I love you so much, Alex."
"I promise," said Alex, feeling the sheer emotion as they kissed and
embraced.
"Oh my gawdd," said Kayla, pushing back, breaking the kiss looking
down at her phone's timer she set. "3...2...1... Happy birthday!"
"Thanks," smiled Alex, tossing up his hands. "And I guess our chariot
didn't turn into a pumpkin, and Cinderella's still here."
"No it didn't, but that doesn't mean the princess isn't about to get
another transformation," said Kayla, moving her legs and climbing on
top of him. "She's about to change from being a virgin."
"Oh gawwddd," yelled Alex. "Oh yes, Kayla. Thank you Kayla."
"Sssshhhh. Love you," sighed Kayla, sticking her tongue in his mouth
and then they both sighed as she dropped down gingerly, a bit tender
from the initial penetration. "Wwwhhheeehhh. Ok...Ohhh....Ohhhh
yeah....."
They sighed in harmony, kissing on and off as Kayla controlled the
pace. It was pure and amazing and everything they both wanted, as
they christened the new limo and each other's loins. They would take
a break and make love again in this wondrous night, lasting a lot
longer the second time until ultimately their exhaustion had the best
of them, finally cumming together.
When eventually she climbed off him, they sat holding hands, resting
a good ten minutes, sharing the occasional soft kisses until she
popped open their last bottle of bubbly, pouring herself a glass.
"Maybe we can get this guy to stop at seven eleven, or something,"
said Alex, completely wiped. "You know maybe better yet drive
through, as I'm not sure if I'm more hungry or sore, as my body is
totally shot. That was amazing."
"It really was!" said Kayla, downing her champagne. "You must be
starving by now. You really didn't eat that much at your party."
"I wasn't that hungry then," said Alex, opening the little cabinet
and finding a little jar of mixed nuts and pretzels.
"That was just nerves probably, and ewww! Don't eat those?" said
Kayla, pulling away the nuts and rolling down the window a few
inches, tossing them out. "Those have probably been here forever, and
are gross."
"Who cares?" Alex said. "I'm starving. I need something."
"Me too," smiled Kayla, spinning his soft manhood around with her
fingers.
"Really, again?" said Alex, feeling so sensitive as she played with
it.
"Well, I was thinking maybe one last time," smiled Kayla, kissing him
for a moment while she began slowly yanking. "But maybe just me and
my favorite little friend down there. I know Alexandra's starving,
but I was thinking since you're exhausted and sore that she could sit
this one out if you wouldn't mind."
"Mind? Oh I don't mind," said Alex, practically salivating as her
tongue was in his ear as she slowly stroked. "My head is pounding, my
body is really sore and I'm wiped, but I think I can hold my hunger."
"I hoped you could," said Kayla, breaking the kiss, touching his face
and then turning, opening her purse, taking out a bottle of pills,
shaking a few into her hands. "Here, in the meantime take these to
sooth the aches, and just take a small sip of water. Open."
"Thanks," said Alex, as she placed them in his mouth and handed him a
bottle of water.
"Those will take a little while to ease the aches," said Kayla,
dropping to her knees in front of him. "But in the mean time, I've
got an even better remedy to ease anything that could be bothering
you."
"Oh Kayla," moaned Alex, as she was yanking him faster and then
nipping on his calf, getting ready to take him.
"You sure you're ok?" Kayla glanced up as she licked the rim. "I'll
stop if it hurts too much and you can't go again."
"No, I can go again," gulped Alex. "It's so sensitive, but please
don't stop, Kayla."
"Ok last time it is then," nodded Kayla, reaching up, pulling down
his neck and softly kissing him, getting a little emotional. "And
thank you. Happy birthday, again."
"No, thank you," said Alex as she attacked him like a tiger. "Wow!"!!
Down she went, engulfing him as he sighed immediately from the
sensitivity, as she began in earnest bobbing up and down. He had
never had this much sexual activity in such a short period of time in
his life before, as the pleasure quickly outweighed the sheer
exhaustion, soreness and minor pain.
It lasted longer than any oral he ever experienced, as he was moaning
like a little girl when finally he exploded.
She looked up at him so lovingly, licking her lips and then leaning
back down, licking him clean. When she finished, she planted a soft
kiss on his bright red boy part and then hopped back on the seat next
to him, pouring herself another glass of champagne, downing it.
"You ok?" asked Kayla, pouring herself another glass and then
reaching down, swirling him around again between her fingers.
"Wow Kayla," sighed Alex, cringing at her touch. "But I think I can't
go another round right now."
"No, I know. Last time," nodded Kayla, seeing him squirm from the
soreness and pulling away her hand. "I won't again, and sorry."
"Wheeww," Breathed Alex as she let go. "Ok then, and that was
amazing."
"Thanks," said Kayla, hopping back on the floor. "So how about we get
these shoes off you."
"Oh, that does sound good!" said Alex, as the feeling was incredible
as she unstrapped his heels. "Wow."
"How's that feel?" said Kayla on her knees messaging his feet.
"Better."
"Ohhhh..." sighted Alex, loving it and staring at the back of her
head. "Almost as good as the sex."
Kayla sucked in a deep breath now, gasping a few times before she
began sobbing and shaking as she let go of his foot, losing all
composure. She put her face into her hands, still kneeling on the
floor in front of him between his legs, but now couldn't control her
emotions, as the flood gates had opened as she cried like a baby into
her hands.
"Kayla," said Alex, touching her hair. "I'm sorry. Bad choice of
words. I didn't mean it like that."
"I know you didn't," Sobbed Kayla, breaking down for another second
before trying to compose herself. "Oh my gawd. This is just too much
on me. I'm sorry, Alex. Sorry."
"There's nothing to be sorry about," said Alex, as she looked up at
him and he reached down, wiping her tears. "I love you
unconditionally."
"I know," nodded Kayla, leaning up and kissing him for a second. "Me
too, but its' just..?"
"Just what?" Alex asked, seeing her staring at him oddly. "Hey? Come
on? Why are you looking at me like that? It is because I must look a
wreck?"
"A little, but it's not like you're wearing all this makeup to bed,"
smiled Kayla, wiping his cheek and her own tears before reaching up,
touching his hair, not making eye contact.
"But I really have to hand it to Marlene and her crew. This damn
tiara has barely flinched, your curls haven't flopped at all, and I
don't even want to think about how long it's taking me to get all
these pins off your head."
"Better you than me," teased Alex, as she seem distracted now,
opening her purse and sitting back down on the seat across from him.
"I wouldn't even know where to start. Maybe you could start soon,
because how much longer do we have this limo."
"Until 2am, but we've been driving a good hour and a half, so
according to my GPS, we're almost there," said Kayla, looking at her
phone. "Maybe I will have time to start taking out some pins, because
it looks like we'll be a little early, and there in about twenty
minutes."
"Wait, so when do we need to get re-dressed, and we're not going home
to your house?" asked Alex. "I thought we were?"
"My house? Well eventually, if that's what you want," said Kayla,
looking out the window. "But I brought you a change of clothes, so
don't worry, I'll dress you so you will be comfortable soon."
"Please sign me up for being comfortable, because I guess really I
don't need to worry about getting off these nails and getting these
highlights out first thing to go home on my birthday, since
everybody's already seen me like this," said Alex, leaning back and
flexing his toes.
"Yup, they have," said Kayla, a bit aloof, looking at her watch
again.
"So you going to tell me where we're headed, or will this just be
another one of your surprises?" asked Alex curiously. "Don't worry,
whatever you have in mind is fine, but why are you suddenly seeming
so out of it."
"Alex, I'm not," replied Kayla, getting serious, not making eye
contact, taking off her heels. "But we need to talk."
"About what?" said Alex, a bit taken aback as she looked down,
unclipping her garter belt, taking it off her stockings.
"About a lot of things," said Kayla, slipping into some new clean
panties.
"Ok, but I'm not sure I like the sound of that?" Alex said as she
opened a small overhead cabinet and pulled out a t-shirt, dropping it
over her head.
"Well I'm not sure you will, but I think it's for the best," said
Kayla wiggling into some jeans and buttoning them before pulling up
the fly and then looking out the window, not making eye contact.
"Really I'm not even sure I know how to say this?"
"Say what, Kayla?" Alex asked as she stared away from him.
"Well, I think we should break up," said Kayla, turning and looking
at him coldly.
"Very funny. You think we should break up?" laughed Alex. "Sure? But
first you figured you should help throw me a huge birthday party, and
then we should finally have sex? Good one, Kayla?"
"I'm not joking," said Kayla, folding her arms and looked away.
"Ok, so who's the one breaking the romantic mood now with her bad
jokes," laughed Alex, reaching over and touching her hand to pull her
arms apart.
"No, really it's over," said Kayla, pushing him off her. "I'm
breaking up with you. I have to."
"You can't be serious, Kayla," said Alex, realizing she'd never ever
been like this before.
"Sorry, I am," said Kayla, getting choked up but trying to stay
strong. "This is so fucking hard, but I have to do it, but what does
it matter, we weren't exclusive anyway. We both know that."
"Exclusive?" Alex said dumbfounded. "We've been dating going on three
years."
"I said exclusive, not dating," replied Kayla, wiping a stray tear
quickly and folding her arms more tightly. "We were always dating,
but I accepted you being not exclusive to only me. I had to, or it
would have torn us apart."
"What does that mean?" said Alex, tossing up his hands.
"You know exactly what it means, and please don't make me go there,"
said Kayla, pointing at him. "I know you were getting head from like
half the cheer team, and I had no choice but to accept it. Hell, I
even put a few of the girls in your dais, even though it made me sick
that they were blowing you, but I knew they were good friend of
yours. In fact, better than good friends, so are you denying that?"
"But Kayla?" replied Alex, ready to puke.
"Answer me," said Kayla.
"I'm so sorry," gulped Alex, looking down.
"All those times you were missing class, I knew where you were and
what you were doing," lectured Kayla. "Most times I even knew who you
were with, and I still stayed with you because I kind of understood
you had needs. It hurt Alex, and it hurt a lot, but I knew you still
did love me, and I wasn't satisfying you."
"I don't even know what to say," said Alex, looking down. "I can't
say I'm sorry enough."
"I don't want you to be sorry. I'm past it, and now we both know what
it's like to be intimate. Honestly, it was amazing, and I'll never
forget it, so I needed us to experience it," Kayla trembled a little,
trying to control her emotions. "Really I didn't want you to fall
asleep tonight and have any regrets. To not know what it was like to
have your boy stuff inside me and consummate our love as my
boyfriend."
"But please, I don't want it to be the last time for us," said Alex,
pleading. "Please, I'll do anything. Is there someone else?"
"Not exactly, but I have met some cute guys, but I haven't acted on
any of it," said Kayla. "I didn't feel right until we had this talk."
"Oh no, Kayla," begged Alex. "Please. I love you, and you just said
you love me too."
"I do, and I always will, but things will change for the better now,
I'm convinced," said Kayla, letting out a deep breath. "Wow that was
hard, but I feel better now that it's off my chest. Really, I wasn't
convinced this was the right thing until your mother assured me it
was, and I still wasn't 100 percent sure until tonight and even just
now."
"My mother?" moaned Alex. "My mother adores you."
"I know, and she's amazing. The strongest woman I've ever known,"
said Kayla, nodding. "All she wants is what's best for both of us,
but of course especially you. She knows you better than you know
yourself. She's the rock that will get you through this."
"But I don't want go through any of this," moaned Alex, starting to
break down. "I don't want to be without you."
"You're saying you'd want to be with me like that?" said Kayla. "I
mean like as Alexandra?"
"Would I have to? Is that what this is all about?" asked Alex,
shaking his head.
"Well yeah?" said Kayla, giving him a look.
"Come on, I told you I'm not gay, and I've got a lot to deal with
now," said Alex upset. "That stuff with Tony was bad enough, and not
your hitting me with all this."
"I know, and I'm sorry," said Kayla, looking at her phone. "It really
is why I do agree with your mom that maybe we'll be together again
some other time, but for now we'll just be friends. I promise I'll be
with you every step of the way as besties, but for now you need to
see if you really do like boys, and maybe someday I'll be ready to
date a girl. But that day isn't here and I'm sorry, but I'm not."
"Ok gawwdd! I feel wobbly," said Alex, extremely dizzy.
"Yeah I figured," nodded Kayla, glancing again at the time. "Just sit
back and let's get these stockings off you."
"What is it?" cried Alex, seeing her take off the garter belt. "I
must be the stress."
"No, it's just the pills on an empty stomach," said Kayla, pulling
off his bra and falsies. "They said you could react like this. It's
normal."
"My head," cried Alex, leaning back. "My eyes are getting heavy."
"I know, and we're here?" said Kayla, reaching up atop his head,
pulling out pins. "But just let me get the tiara itself off and the
rest I can do while you're sleeping."
"We're where?" slurred Alex, struggling to keep his eyes open.
"At the end of a bumpy road Alex, but I love you and your mother was
right," said Kayla, leaning in and kissing his lips. "Now just one
more second and you can finally start down the right road you should
have been on all along. Just think, once I get these last few pins
out, that you won't need a tiara anymore to be a princess once you
wake up. I love you, and pleasant dreams, Alexandra."
His eyes closed now and then the next thing he knew, he was awakened
by the slightest of popping sounds.
"Morning," sighed a little voice as Alex saw a bubble blowing up and
again bursting.
"Hey, morning squirt," said Alex, barely cracking his eyes open.
"Happy real birthday, Alex," said Ronnie.
"Thanks," said Alex, pulling the pillow down over his head. "Don't
you ever sleep in?"
"Not really," said Ronnie, lifting up the pillow a crack and smiling.
"It's not that early, and I'm sure you must be really tired as much
as you danced, and that's without everything else you did. That was
some party, and seems like you had a really good time."
"Well, I guess? About that little bro... wait?" said Alex, peeking
out at Ronnie. "Are you in pigtails?"
"Yeah, mom did them early this morning and complained about my hair
being a disaster after I slept on the fancy hairdo," said Ronnie,
shaking his head. "I was too tired after dancing in those shoes and
passed out, so daddy carried me in. I just wanted to go to bed, even
though she wanted me not to without her helping me. Of course she was
right, and was really no fun as it hurt a lot with her brushing out
all the hairspray this morning."
"I imagine I'll know the feelings soon," said Alex, tying to wake up,
pushing the pillow off the top of his head and seeing a braid hanging
down. "Oh, maybe not?....Wait? Don't you have a Pee Wee football game
today?" What time is it?"
"It's about 1:30 pm, and my game is at 4pm," said Ronnie. "Don't
worry. I'm going. I've never missed a game yet, and Kayla is coming
back to get me."
"Coming back? Ok good," said Alex, rubbing one of his eyes. "Last
thing I remember is her breaking... well let's say being mad at me,
but if she's coming then we should be fine. Maybe I was dreaming."
"Well I don't think she's mad at you?" said Ronnie. "She was here all
night with you, mommy said, and only left for a little while when
mommy brought me to stay with you. Then she came back and helped mom
with my makeup for the game."
"Did you just say makeup?" said Alex, popping his eyes wide open,
staring at Ronnie and grabbing his brother's face. "Ronnie? What the
hell is going on here?"
"Oh you mean these?" said Ronnie, pulling away his brother's hand.
"Be careful, or mommy will kill me if you mess up my hair. It was a
lot of work this morning, and I was shocked you didn't wake up. I was
really crying a lot. I'm sorry about that?"
"Don't be, and you can stop now? Just go back to being you?" said
Alex. "Believe me, I was crying an awful lot inside even if you
didn't see it."
"I bet," said Ronnie. "Did it hurt?"
"Nothing physically hurt yesterday, but my nerves took quite the
blow. Well, except this little nose stud I wasn't expecting," replied
Alex. "The rest I guess I just let happen, but someday you'll
understand and I'd rather not get into that now, squirt."
"Well I still feel bad if I disturbed you crying," said Ronnie. "Mom
can be rough sometimes, and extremely difficult when she gets
something in her mind, there's no changing it."
"I know she can," said Alex. "I found that out last night too! Boy
did I ever?"
"Well that didn't change today as you can see from my pigtails," said
Ronnie. "She was already freaking out early this morning when Kayla
told her all the girls my age in my squad have bangs, so lucky Kayla
is so calm because she cut in in for me, curled my pigtails and put
in the bows. She's amazing, and has such a nice way about her."
"Wait, what?" said Alex. "What did you say? What squad?"
"My squad," said Ronnie. "I really don't want to be in bangs and bows
Alex, but I' m supporting you ... you know."
"Turn on the lights, Ronnie," Alex ordered.
"Ok, but don't you need your rest?" said Ronnie, flicking them on.
"Mom says you're supposed to sleep in until we do your cake tonight."
"Just do it, Ronnie," said Alex, tossing aside the pillow. "Holy
shit! This isn't my room?"
"Of course not?" replied Ronnie, twisting his neck. "You're in the
hospital, in the recovery room?"
"Oh my gawwddd!" said Alex, looking around at the room and seeing an
IV in his arm. "Recovery?"
"Yeah, mom says you did good, and you're ok," said Ronnie, grabbing
the bed clicker. "Your room came out good too, didn't it? Take a
look."
Alex's heart was beating a mile a minute as the motor clicked on as
his brother began rising the back of his bed.
Across the front of the room were the pink balloons from the party
that spelled out Alexandra, and pink and silver streamers were
scattered everywhere. Across the top of the windows to his right, a
huge birthday banner hung from the ceiling, and centered beneath it
hung his dress with the big ball skirt attached again. To each side
of it, floral arrangements sat on stands brightening the room, and on
the closet doors cards were taped, forming the shapes of huge hearts.
He almost couldn't believe he was walking up to this, and then looked
to his left next, to where his brother was sitting, seeing his tiara
resting on a small velvet pillow on the night stand in front of a
huge bouquet of hot pink roses next to the bed.
"Ohhh mmmyyy gaaawwdddd," gulped Alex, almost not believing
everything he saw, and where he was.
"You know you say that a lot, Oh my gawd," said Ronnie, popping a
bubble calmly. "And yeah, you had your surgery and I told you Kayla
stayed with you all night? You forgot?"
"What the fuck happened?" yelped Alex, looking at him. "And why are
you dressed like a cheerleader?"
"Nothing happened, and I told you I have a game?" said Ronnie. "You
had your party, and then mommy said they fixed your winkie like she
said it was supposed to be."
"Please don't even joke about that?" Screamed Alex, sitting up,
feeling some distinct pain as he moved and then rifled off the
sheets. "Ohhh Dammnnn. Oh what the fuck. Ouuucchhh. Oh that hurts
bad!"
He began hyperventilating, as he realized now that under his hospital
gown he was wrapped in heavy bandages and then an immediate pain shot
up his arm this time, realizing he had some packaging around his
chest.
"You ok?" said Ronnie. "Should I get the nurse, because if you need
her, I have to do it soon because I have to leave soon."
"No, please don't leave," Alex begged. "My arm! All these bandages.
Get your phone and call mom."
"I can't," "When I freaked out having my bangs done. I knocked it
down and broke it on her this morning. I'm getting punished for that
for sure."
"Then call dad," Please, I need to know what's going on here," whined
Alex "Please, this can't be right?"
"Ok, but he's not answering?" said Ronnie, dialing. "It's not easy
with nails, but when I left he was already up painting your room
pink, because your new furniture is coming soon mommy said."
"This isn't funny, Ronnie?" said Alex, struggling to move, feeling
some sharp pains.
"Ooopps? Forget I said anything," said Ronnie, twirling his pigtail,
distracted. "I think that might have been a surprise like the party."
"Stop it! I've had enough of surprises," cried Alex. "Now take off
that damn cheerleader costume, and stop trying to distract me. I know
mom must be here somewhere, so get her! I want to know what really
happened, because I don't even remember how I got here, and then get
out of here, because you've never missed a game yet."
"I'm not lying, Alex. She's not here yet, and I'll still be on the
field for every game. Mom and I talked about that," said Ronnie,
explaining and then putting his head down, breaking eye contact.
"Just as a cheerleader now."
"But you were the fastest kid on the team, and in first place," said
Alex, getting upset. "Why would mom make you do this? Dressing up to
support me is one thing, but that team needs you."
"I know, but not as much as my sister does," said Ronnie, taking
Alex's hand. "As much as I know you wanted this, it still can't be
easy having your winkie turned into a girl's privates."
"Oh my gawwwwwdddddd Ronnie!" Screamed Alex, reaching down, feeling
all the bandaging below his naval. "Who told you that? Noooo. Nooooo!
Please go get mom."
"Mom did, and please believe me she's not here right now, because
you're not supposed to be awake yet," said Ronnie calmly. "She said
you'll need the support just like at the party, so I'm doing this for
you. Mom said you being a new girl in school and needing activities
until spring track season that cheer would be the best thing for you.
She figured with Kayla on the squad as captain for the rest of the
year until she goes to college that she'd take care of you, and since
they allow the grammar school girls with the high school cheerleaders
at games, that it was an activity we could do together. I told you
I'm here to support you, sis."
"And isn't she the best little sister anyone could ever ask for,
Alexandra," said Kayla in the door way.
"Kayla," gulped Alex, looking up as his eyes began watering. "Please
Kayla, tell me I'm dreaming, and that Ronnie's confused."
"Hey Veronica, why don't you go potty before we leave, and curl those
pigtails again like I showed you, honey," said Kayla, coming over and
handing him a bag. "Remember it gets hot and take your time. More
hair spray than less is fine, and touch your mascara and lips ok? Be
back in five minutes please?"
"Ok, I'll try," said Ronnie, taking the bag and going into the
bathroom, closing the door.
"He likes taking his time, and admiring himself," said Kayla,
standing with her hands folded. "Kind of runs in the family, that
trait."
"Kayla, please tell me what's going on," cried Alex. "I'm freaking
out, and you just called my brother Veronica."
"Pretty, right," said Kayla. "Ronnie is a common nickname for
Veronica, in case you didn't know."
"But he's not a girl, and neither am I," Alex complained.
"Well not yet, but he's still young, so time will tell," said Kayla.
"You on the other hand... look amazing for a girl that's just been
through so much?"
"Holy shit," said Alex, shaking and trying to keep it together as he
lifted the sheets, looking down at himself. "Kayla, please tell me
you're messing with me. Please, it's my birthday!"
"I know. Did you forget about everything after midnight, already? I
think I wished you happy birthday like five times already, and gave
you a few early presents I'd hoped you wouldn't forget already. Plus,
did you think little elves decorated here, and don't do that?" said
Kayla, pushing back down the sheets, softly touching his wrist.
"You're not supposed to lift your arms up for a while, or you could
pop a stitch. I love you so so much, and happy birthday again, but
I'm not messing with you. Now please don't mess with me either,
because I've been with you every second, through every procedure and
haven't slept a wink."
"Oh my gawddddd," shook Alex. "How many procedures? This can't be
happening?"
"Don't do that to yourself and it's ok, sweetie," said Kayla, leaning
down, kissing him on the cheek and then leaning up, wiping a tear
from her face, getting extremely emotional.
"Now relax. It's not happening anymore. It's over, and you're on the
road to recovery now. The doctors said it went well, and you'll be up
and about soon. You did amazing."
"So it was what Ronnie said?" said Alex, feeling a tear stream down
his cheek. "They... It's gone and..and... and...."
"And I'll never forget our last time either, or anything from last
night, but please don't make me think about that now. I just can't,
or I won't be able to function, and Ronnie will be out of the
bathroom in a second," said Kayla, sucking up her tears. "I promised
your mother and myself I'd be strong for you. To help you to be a
strong woman and role model for Ronnie. Do you know how hard this was
to give up my boyfriend? To break up with you! But I did it so you
could be who you were supposed to be."
"Oh my gawwwddd, I'm a girl now," sighed Alex, staring into space.
"My mother and you really made me into a girl with girl parts."
"Well not exactly? More like the doctors did," said Kayla, wiping her
eyes and squeezing his hand. "And trust me, we almost chickened out a
million times, but we both loved you too much! You're welcome,
sweetie."
"I'm welcome?" sighed Alex, staring at all the cards and flowers and
then peeking down at his chest. "And not only did I get a vagina, but
I guess I got boobs too for my birthday?"
"Well yeah, but those weren't much," nodded Kayla, touching his face.
"Your mom told them just a little something so you wouldn't feel
subconscious being flat chested. until you develop more naturally."
"More naturally?" asked Alex.
"Yeah, once the swelling subsides, these will just give you maybe an
A cup or a small B," Explained Kayla. "The doctors say since big
boobs run in your family that's all you should get now, unless you
plan on being a stripper, because your genetics say once your
hormones really kick in that you'll end up like your mother, who's
around a D. With these little implants, good chance you're a full D
or double D, which should look really great on you."
"Maybe next time be more fucking specific when you ask if it should
be the last time," cried Alex, feeling his stomach rile up. "Hurry,
get me a bucket. Get it now."
Kayla ripped the flowers from the vase, and then he heaved into the
vase, throwing up.
"Oh my gawd, be so careful Alex," said Kayla rubbing his back.
"You'll rip your stitches, and then we'll have a real problem. You
can't be doing this, honey."
"Oh that hurt so bad," sighed Alex, after he emptied his stomach.
"Holy shit! You think this isn't a real problem."
"You ok, Alexandra?" said Ronnie, hurrying over. "I heard you
screaming, and I ran out here. I got really scared."
"Sorry, it was just my stomach," said Alex. "I didn't mean to scare
you."
"She's ok. Sometimes the medicine just doesn't agree with her belly,"
said Kayla. "Take down a few of the wonderful cards please that
people wrote her, and I think that will make her feel better."
"Ok. Mommy read me a few and they're so nice," nodded Ronnie. "Also,
I'll put on the slide show for her. I really love watching it."
"Thank you, sweetie," said Kayla, touching him gently. "I'm just
going to rinse this and then we'll go soon, Veronica."
"Are you kidding me?" gulped Alex, seeing all the pictures of him on
the tv slowly changing.
"You were so beautiful around my age," said Ronnie, watching. "Maybe
I'll be Belle next year, but the shot of you with Santa is my
favorite."
"Oh boy," moaned Alex, watching. "Santa, the ballet outfit, my
Halloween pictures when I was little and even these current shots
with my hair bobbed. It's like a slide show of..."
"Of you kind of growing up and looking amazing," Answered Kayla,
returning with the vase.
"You gave all those to my mother?" gulped Alex.
"Well yeah," whispered Kayla, putting the flowers back in. "She paid
for some of the dance, the Santa shots and most of your weekend
outfits. "How could I not, and does it really matter now?"
"I guess not anymore," said Alex, watching himself as a little girl
and then a teen.
"Exactly, and just so you know," smiled Kayla. "You handed out a
little booklet with the pictures in the gift bag for all the guests
when they left. That I didn't even know was in there, but those shots
will also be in your party video once it's done, so no point worrying
about it anyway, because number one it doesn't matter now anyway, and
number two you were adorable."
"I guess I actually was," said Alex, staring at it playing.
"Yup, a cutie," winked Kayla at Alex clicking off the tv. "Ok
sweetie, say goodbye and you'll see her later."
"Ok, but who will be with my sister," Ronnie asked. "I don't want her
scared and alone."
"I'll be fine, squirt. Come here and don't be scared," nodded Alex,
hugging him gently as he came over. "I'll read some of the cards and
that will keep me busy until you get back after your game. At least
now I don't need to undo anything from the party, or make any excuses
about why I wore what I wore."
"Why would you make excuses?" asked Ronnie innocently as Kayla put
the flower back in the clean vase. "You were like the prettiest girl
there."
"Thanks, squirt," said Alex, looking at him lovingly, touching one of
his pigtails. "I guess I don't. I'm guess I'm really just a girl like
every other girl I know now."
"Well maybe not like any girl," said Kayla. "You're very special, and
we all love you so much, Alex."
"Yeah, a real lot," said Ronnie.
"I guess I still know that," nodded Alex.
"Open up and let's get rid of that taste, honey," said Kayla,
squirting some breath spray in his mouth. "We both will, but maybe
once I leave read the card I left you. I'd rather not be here when
you read it, but my letter inside is long and sappy and I'm almost
crying just thinking about it."
"Really?" said Alex, touching her arm and taking a breath as the
gross taste was gone. "When did you write it?"
"Well last night, and for a few weeks now, and well... I started it a
long time ago," said Kayla, not making eye contact and taking his
tiara from the nightstand, putting it atop his head and snapping the
clips. "Now we'll be back later with a cake with the your family, and
until then you wear your birthday crown, because it looks beautiful
on you and its your birthday. I want you to feel special, but you
won't be alone."
"Oh, my mom's coming in now," gulped Alex, not wanting to wear it yet
not ready to fight about anything.
"No, not yet, but I think when your wear this tiara you should know
how special it is, and how proud she was seeing you in it," said
Kayla, slipping a few pins in the tiara.
"She did seem proud seeing me like a girl, weird as that seems," said
Alex.
"She was, and always has been. And just so you know, you're wearing
the tiara she got married in," said Kayla, continually pinning and
puffing his hair with her fingers a little. "She thought it would
make the day even more special, and it's yours now. Maybe someday
you'll get married in it."
"Please stop, Kayla! You'll make me puke again," said Alex. "I'm
barely dealing as it is."
"I know, but you're a new woman now, and obviously need to get in
touch with a few things to eventually see who you really are, just
like I plan on doing," said Kayla, taking a deep breath. "You've got
a lot to think about now, and I'm still dealing with it too, but it
starts today."
"What does that mean?" asked Alex confused. "There's more?"
"Oh Alex?" Kayla shook her head with a giggle and then untwisted his
French braid near his left ear. "Let's get these out for now, but
you'll need to stay in braids mostly while you recuperate, or you'll
have bedhead like you can't believe, but in the meantime I redid your
makeup this morning to be natural and simple and for a girl that just
had some major surgery, you look terrific."
"Ok but..?" said Alex, not sure what she meant.
"But nothing honey, and turn your head!" said Kayla, untwisting the
other side and shaking out his curls with her fingers. "A diva you
will not be today, pretty girl, and I would kill to have my hair hold
a curl like yours. Maybe's it's the braids, but maybe not, but enough
fussing with the beauty queen, because there's somebody here that has
been waiting patiently to see his girlfriend."
"You're kidding?" gulped Alex, as she turned and stuck her head out
the door.
"Come in Tony, and we've gotta go to Veronica's game now," smiled
Kayla, taking her card off the night stand and stuffing in her
pocketbook. "Tony's going to keep you company until we get back, and
then maybe you can read my card a bit later, ok?"
"Hey Alexandra," smiled coming in. "How you doing today? I can't
believe you were dancing up a storm one minute and then next had to
have some crazy surgery?"
"Hey," said Alex sheepishly. "Me either honestly?"
"She's doing great, and they fixed the little female problem
sometimes girls just have to deal with," winked Kayla, taking Ronnie
by the end.
"I'm so happy to hear that," said Tony, coming over and pulling up a
chair next to the bed.
"Now, you two don't have too much fun until we get back, ok?" smiled
Kayla, stopping in the doorway.
"Well, that we can't promise, because I'll be stuck looking into
those pretty eyes until you get back," said Tony.
"She does have some beautiful eyes, doesn't she?" said Kayla, a
little chocked up as they walked out now. "Rest up sweetie, and see
you later?"
"She will, and she really does," said Tony, softly touching Alex's
face. "The most beautiful eyes on the most beautiful girl I've ever
seen."
"Seriously?" whispered Alex, looking at him and then away nervously.
"Yeah seriously," said Tony, leaning down and putting a kiss on his
cheek. "Happy Birthday."
"You call that a birthday kiss?" teased Alex, turning his face
towards Tony's and reaching up his arm. "Oucchh damn!"
Tony softly pulled away his arm and dropped his lips as they shared a
soft delicate kiss, and then pulled away his face.
"Better?" asked Tony, leaning down and then pressing another quick
one.
"Yeah," nodded Alex, teary-eyed. "And thanks for being here. You
didn't need to come."
"Of course I did, and that felt incredible. Wow," said Tony, touching
his own lips and then leaning down kissing Alex's as he touch his
hair.
"Now how about you just rest with your pretty birthday head on and
let me just worship those lips a little. It's not like either or us
is going anywhere, and I promise I'll be gentle."
"You kidding, that's what got me into all this trouble the last
time," said Alex, biting his lip nervously as Tony was playing with
his hair.
"I'm not sure I understand?" asked Tony, confused.
"Well I'm not sure I do either, but there's really only one way to
find out, but we'll need to take this nice and slow ok?" said Alex,
reaching up taking his hand from her curls.
"I'm in no rush," said Tony, taking Alex's hand. "I just want to be
with you, Alexandra."
"Good, because all I was in was a rush in my last relationship, and
trust me no guy wants it to end up like that one did for the
boyfriend," smiled Alex, reaching up, feeling a pain shoot down his
arm and pressing his lips down on Tony's. "Now shut up and really
kiss me this time, if you know what's good for you."
"As you wish, birthday girl," smiled Tony, dipping down as they went
into full make out mode now.
"Ladies, everything ok in there?" said a voice, startling Mrs.
Alessio outside the doorway. "I was just coming to check on Alex."
"Ok sorry, Dr. Montana," said Mrs. Alessio, taking a peek and softly
allowing the doctor to peek in as well. "She's awake and doing well
as you can see, doctor."
"I see that, and even though this is her birthday, she still does
need her rest, and I'd rather her now get too excited already," said
Dr. Montana.
"Well, I believe we took care of that doctor, but don't worry, I
assure you we'll be allowing her to get her rest," said Mrs. Alessio,
pulling the doctor aside. "I'll pull that cute boy out of there in a
few minutes."
"Please, as much as I'm sure she's been dying for this day," said the
doctor. "She's been through a lot, and waking up this morning, it's
never exactly what our young ladies expect."
"Oh I'm sure you're right doctor, especially in my daughter's case,
but she's always been a bit of a drama queen, so she'll adjust." "But
enough about Alexandra! Of course she'll be getting all the attention
today, and rightly so, as the birthday girl, but I'd like you to meet
Kayla. She's the wonderful friend that stayed with Alexandra all
night and all weekend helping get my daughter ready for her big day.
She's an amazing young woman, and Alex could have never done it
without her."
"Oh, hi Doctor," said Kayla, shaking hands. "Thank you so much for
helping my friend."
"It was my pleasure," said the doctor, shaking her hand. "Nice to
meet you, Kayla."
"She's aspiring to go to medical school herself," said Mrs. Alessio.
"I like to tell her she's the double threat. Brilliant and
beautiful."
"I see that?" smiled Dr. Montana. "Call me Dave."
"Uuumm?" said Kayla, giving Mrs. Alessio a look. "Sure, and nice to
meet you, but we better be going Mrs. Alessio, and I still have to
change. Her so.. I mean other dau.. child, Veronica has a game, and
I'm teaching her the ropes so we really better head out."
"She's such a gem this girl and never stops, but there's plenty of
time, Kayla. She's being teaching little Ronnie all these incredible
moves, and is unbelievably flexible. It's crazy what this girl can
do," said Mrs. Alessio, tapping his arm, feeling his bicep. "And wow,
I guess you work out a lot too, doctor."
"Wow, really? Very impressive, Kayla," said the doctor, really
checking her out now. "I do try to work out when I can find the time,
and I better go check on Alexandra before I can grab some lunch
before my next shift."
"Doctor, I'd appreciate you letting Alexandra catch up with her
boyfriend and maybe check on her a bit later, plus both of you must
be famished after being up all night," said Mrs. Alessio, taking the
doctor by the elbow, leading him away from the door. "Now I was
thinking that maybe you could give her some advice about her
aspirations over a nice lunch. My treat of course, and I'm not taking
no for an answer after all you've both done for Alexandra."
"Well, I really couldn't?" said Dr. Montana.
"Of course you can," said Mrs. Alessio, stuffing a hundred in his
jacket pocket.
"No, Mrs. Alessio, I really can't," said Dr. Montana, handing it
back. "Let you pay for it, what I was trying to say. And of course I
really couldn't pass up an opportunity to get to know someone like
Kayla and give her whatever assistance she needs. So I'll meet you in
the lobby in say ten minutes, so I can at least wash up?"
"Wonderful," said Mrs. Alessio, with a big smile on her face. "She'd
love that."
"Perfect see you in a few, Kayla," nodded the doctor, walking off.
"Mrs. Alessio," said Kayla, annoyed. "I can't do that. I'm not ready
to meet anyone after what we've just been though."
"Of course you're ready, and look for yourself," said Mrs. Alessio,
taking her by the arm and making her look back in through the window.
"What do you see, dear?"
"Well, Alex and Tony," replied Kayla, seeing them still kissing.
"No, you see Alexandra and her boyfriend, Tony. Now stop fantasizing
about your ex-boyfriend, because we both know he's gone and she's in
a better place," said Mrs. Alessio, rubbing her back. "Plus you know
your father would kill for you to marry a doctor."
"Ok, slow down. I'm far from thinking about any of that, and not even
ready for you to be setting me up already, even if he is a doctor,"
smiled Kayla. "Especially him!"
"What do you mean especially him? You have to get right back on the
horse dear, and maybe you rode a stallion last night, but now that
horse is a mare!" said Mrs. Alessio, talking her by the shoulder,
looking into her eyes. "He's handsome, rich and a young doctor.
That's the trifecta, and it's just lunch. Now you're going, and have
fun."
"But you want me to date the doctor that's like ten years older than
me, and just cut of my boyfriend's pe--" started Kayla.
"Ex-boyfriend's, and he cut off nothing. We both know that,"
interrupted Mrs. Alessio. "He just gave it a makeover to re-arrange
it into the shape it should have been all along, just like you gave
Alex the makeover he needed. So you're made for each other. You're
both makeover experts in a way, and you might be seventeen in age,
but you're way beyond that in maturity. Again we both know that, so
go honey and live a little."
"Live a little?" sighed Kayla. "My heart is in my chest Mrs. Alessio,
and I'm an emotional disaster. I loved him, and I still love her, and
I'm barely functioning."
"And she knows you do. You made the sweetest sacrifice for our pretty
sweet sixteen," said Mrs. Alessio, hugging her. "But sometimes love
hurts, and delivering some hard love can be a lot more difficult than
anything."
"You don't need to tell me that," nodded Kayla, wiping a tear.
"I know dear, but time will heal that and who knows what the future
brings for you two," said Mrs. Alessio. " Worst case you have a
bestie for life, maybe a future college roomie, someone to always
double date with, and certainly your maid of honor already picked
out."
"Ok again slow down," Snorted Kayla, laughing and crying together.
"Ok, but now go!" said Mrs. Alessio, giving her a nudge and a tissue.
"Don't keep Dr. Cutie pie waiting."
"Ok, but it's not a date," said Kayla, wiping her eyes and starting
to walk away. "And I'll be back in time for cheer with Ronnie, and
back here for Alex's birthday cake tonight."
"Of course you will. You're Alexandra's best friend, you love each
other and she couldn't be the girl she is now without you," smiled
Mrs. Alessio, putting her hands on her hips. "Now did you want to
peek in again at her kissing her boyfriend, or would you rather be
late to see the hunky doctor downstairs?"
Kayla just shook her head and walked off, getting into the elevator
as Mr. Alessio came over, touching his wife's back.
"So how's our new daughter doing?" asked her husband.
"She's doing perfectly, just like if you would have given me a
daughter in the first place," said Mrs. Alessio, giving a wave to
Kayla as she got in the elevator.
"And Kayla? She looks shot," said Mr. Alessio. "Did you always have
to go so far? Setting that kid up already? That kid is a gem?"
"Yes, she is," said Mrs. Alessio. "So I'm damn well taking care of
her, like she took care of my former son?"
"Oh yeah, she took care of him alright, the poor boy," said Mr.
Alessio. "You both did?"
"Yes we did, and it's all your fault, anyway," said Mrs. Alessio,
placing a kiss on her husband.
"My fault?" he asked.
"For shooting the wrong chromosomes in me in the first place? Men
choose the gender, right?" said Mrs. Alessio. "You wasted almost
sixteen years for my daughter, and I'm not making that mistake
again."
"Honey, calm down. I know you dressed him up for the party, but
Ronnie is little. He's not Alex," lectured his father. "He's a
football player, and obviously way too young for any crazy surgeries
like Alex just had. Give him a chance to become a man, and the odds
of two boys being born in the wrong gender are astronomical."
"You mean kind of like the odds of me winning the 1.2 million in
lotto, which has allowed us to fix everything in our life recently
that you fucked up from the start," replied Mrs. Alessio. "It's not
like we can retire, because who knows about Ronnie still, but at
least after taxes and this surgery, their weddings and colleges will
be set."
"You're relentless! We both agreed the kids shouldn't know anything
about that until they're adults, so they can live normal lives and
not be spoiled brats," said their father. "He's a good football
player, and give him a chance to grow and prosper."
"I am, and be happy he chose to make sure he didn't miss a game
today, even after all he did to attend the party," said his mother
with a smirk. "He's dedicated to his team, and his sister no matter
what!"
"See, that's my boy," said his father.
"Well, that's your child over there." She pointed. "And he still
loves the game, but I guess you didn't notice what uniform your
football player chose while sitting over there in the lounge, reading
teen vogue and fixing his lip gloss."
"In the cheer outfit?" he asked mortified. "Looking into that little
mirror."
"His choice. All I did was make a suggestion about activities they
could do together, and he wanted to support his sister." "You have to
admit the kid did adorable in pigtails and bows."
"Don't do this again to me, honey?" said Mr. Alessio, holding his
chest. "He's too young, and has his whole childhood in front of him.
Plus, I know they won't do surgery on kids this young, so give him
time."
"Oh I'm not so sure about that, and by the time Kayla is finished
with that cute little doctor, I'm positive he'll be ready to bend a
few rules for me. That girl can wrap men around her finger like I've
never seen, and that's without even trying," smiled Mrs. Alessio. "If
we're lucky, that should coincide with our future princess being
ready to attend high school in her romper instead so some shitty clip
on tie in a horrid boys academy, so I'll give you a week or two
before I expect you to work a few double shifts again."
"Honey, give him a chance," said his father, almost begging. "I
worked my ass off for this, and need a break. There's so much to do
just for Alex now, and no reason to mess with any of their lives."
"I'm not messing with anything, and possibly both our children will
have the lives you denied them," said Mrs. Alessio. "These could be
the lives they were meant to live as beautiful women, and if you
don't want me to toss your ass out in the street, broke, you'll close
your mouth and let me fix things."
"Fix things?" he asked, feeling sick to his stomach. "This is how
you'll fix things?"
"Apparently so," said his wife, pissed now. "Should I remind you
again I'm the real breadwinner in the family and hold the golden
ticket, so tell me again who wears the pants in this family?"
"You do, dear?" he answered dejected.
"Good, because tell me again what I should be doing with my
daughters, and trust me you'll wake up one morning having to explain
to our girls why they now have two mommies," said Mrs. Alessio,
pissed.
"Just go be a real man while you still can be, and go tell your son
how proud you are of him or how beautiful he looks in his cheer
uniform, until Kayla gets back from lunch. Anything less than making
him feel like she's the prettiest girl in the world and I'll pay off
Dr. Montana to squeeze you in on the next shift while we go to the
game."
"But..." Mr. Alessio started to protest.
"You know what, forget I said that!" said Mrs. Alessio, smacking
herself in the head. "Just do it, please!"
"Yes, dear," gulped Mr. Alessio, stopping her from walking away. "But
where are you going?"
"To meet Alexandra's new boyfriend officially, and say a quick Happy
Birthday to my daughter before we leave for the game," said Mrs.
Alessio. "She does need her rest after all she's been through. Plus
someone's got have the balls to interrupt their make out session
before it goes all day, and sneak out Kayla's sappy letter before she
gets confused."
"Fine, wear the pants honey. Be the bad guy?" smiled Mr. Alessio,
throwing up his hands. "And you think he's not confused now."
"No, I think SHE's already adjusted quite nicely with her tongue down
that hunky boy's throat, so you better as well," said Mrs. Alessio.
"But when she looks around for the letter after I shred it, don't
worry, I'll blame you for losing it."
"I don't want to be blamed for that?" said Mr. Alessio. "Kayla
probably poured her heart into it? Why should I be blamed?"
"Of course she did! She's a doll and why not? You're the man of the
family, right? When it's gone and she's upset, our fragile princess
can cry in her daddy's arms like she did tonight, and you can comfort
her again," said Mrs. Alessio. "You two finally connected, and where
do you think she got her sensitive side from?"
"I guess not from you?" replied Mr. Alessio.
"Exactly, she got it from you, but all she knows is your fake tough
guy shit that we both know is bullshit?" said Mrs. Alessio. "But
really Alex fell in love with a girl just like her mother, didn't
she?"
"Yeah, a manipulative bitch?" laughed Mr. Alessio.
"Maybe," laughed Mrs. Alessio, knowing he was right. "But a loving
one who saw the signs Alex's whole life and just finally had the
balls to act on it that her husband didn't have, nor has ever had.
I'll do anything for my children, and we both saw what happened with
not much more than a chance to express herself, didn't we?"
"That's not fair," said Mr. Alessio. "It still wasn't easy, and you
mostly kept me out of the loop while I was out working my ass off."
"Is that what you call what you were doing while I planned her party
and wardrobe and everything with Kayla?" said his wife, rolling her
eyes. "Because I still haven't seen some of those overtime checks hit
our account yet, and it's not like you put up much of a fight about
your little son in dresses either, did you honey?"
"Not funny," said Mr. Alessio. "He's still little, so don't pick on
him."
"See me laughing? I'm not. I love him, and want what's best, but did
you think I didn't know all these years?" Questioned his wife,
flipping her phone around, showing him a picture. "You're a cheer dad
now, so start adjusting to having hormonal girls around, and maybe
I'll adjust to you when the girls aren't home?"
"You knew about that?" gulped Mr. Alessio, seeing himself in a pink
dress as a little boy.
"Your mother showed me that way before we were married, when we were
dating, and told me about your little phases you went through. We had
a good laugh, but then I found your stash many years ago when we were
newlyweds, and realized that it was much more than a phase," said his
wife. "At first I was angry but I was pregnant with Alex, and really
didn't want him growing up without a father, so I just shut my mouth.
I always wished you would have told me, but I thought if I confronted
you that it would tear us apart."
"Me too," said Mr. Alessio, feeling like a big weight was lifted off
his shoulders. "But I've never cheated on you. I've always just loved
you, and wanted to be with you."
"I've always known that too, or I'd be long gone," replied his wife.
"I read up on it, and I've seen all your pictures. The sissy maid,
the pink frilly thing and even the Brolita stuff. That actually was
my favorite on you, and actually reminded me of something I wore as a
little girl."
"Oh gawdddd," sighed Mr. Alessio, turning beet read. "I'm so
embarassed."
"Don't be. We're long past that now," said Mrs. Alessio, taking a
deep breath. "I just accepted it all for my children's sake, but
eventually I realized Alex might look a lot like me, but whether he
knew it or not he was more like you. In reality, the two of us
together probably created the perfect storm for a boy who should have
been a girl, even though he didn't know it himself? But actually from
the way he's already adjusted, I think he might have."
"Well since I can relate at least a little bit.. Trust me, you're
never sure?" said Mr. Alessio, looking away. "But in my case, I love
my wife and children more than anything, so it was just a release,
kind of, so please don't be mad."
"I still love you, and I'm still here with you, so I'm not mad," said
Mrs. Alessio, leaning in and kissing her husband. "Like I said, you
determined their chromosomes, but at least with Alexandra we got to
fix the problem, so maybe it'll be the same for Ronnie. We'll just
keep working hard so I can keep the money put aside."
"This isn't really something you fix, honey," said her husband.
"Wanting to feel feminine and all that doesn't always mean you want
your gender changed!"
"If you say so honey, and I'm not going to argue with such an
expert," said his wife, rolling his eyes and smirking as she walked
into the room to see Alex. "Now go sit with Ronnie like I asked you
to, and grow a set before I make you start bringing your little one
for his sets, or did you want your hair set too, my lovely sissy
hubby?"
"She never stops?" said Mr. Alessio, shaking his head and then
looking up, seeing Kayla walking his way. "Oh Kayla, you back
already."
"Yeah, we kind of cut our lunch short," replied Kayla, standing,
holding hands with Dr. Fontana.
"Yes, unfortunately too much paperwork, and I just picked up a second
shift. Call you later, Kayla."
"Sure, I'd really like that," said Kayla, kissing him back again and
then texting.
"Me too," said Dr. Fontana, before turning to Mr. Alessio. "Mind
coming with me, Mr. Alessio, because there are still many forms to
do."
"Oh sure," said Mr. Alessio. "I just thought my wife handled
everything already?"
"I just need a few signatures from you, and don't worry, she did,"
smiled the doctor, leading him away.
"You are amazing, Kayla," said Mrs. Alessio, coming out of the room
and seeing her husband walking away with the doctor down the hall.
"Two down and one to go, plus your new bestie has settled in nicely."
"Well, Alex is doing well makes me feel better, but the rest makes me
sick, Mrs. Alessio," said Kayla. "You sure about all this?"
"About Alexandra. Of course, and we all are. And as for my sissy
husband, I'm just snipping off what the man doesn't use anyway, and
not changing anything else honey, at least for now," said Mrs.
Alessio. "The girls need their father, and he just told me himself
that just because you love being feminine, doesn't mean you want to
change your sex, so I'm not making him. I think of it as a
compromise. Someday, you'll learn marriage is all give and take. In
his case, I'm giving him a second chance now that he's finally
admitted things to me, and I'm taking a little something that is in
the way in some of his pretty outfits anyway. Really, it's a win
win."
"Oh, that's terrible," laughed kayla. "But what about poor Ronnie. He
is still so adorable in slacks or dresses. Don't rush that."
"Who's rushing? I might have to push her back to football next year.
The kid is going to be a handful if I let her make the change," said
Mrs. Alessio. "She's sitting there flirting with three boys with us
sitting right here?"
"Yeah, I noticed," giggled Kayla. "I guess that's why it'll be good
to still have their father around."
"Oh, please," laughed Mrs. Alessio, flicking her wrist. "Like he had
the balls to handle any of that before, and by the time we have
Alexandra's cake tonight, after the game he won't have them anyway."
