Talk ended as Jennifer called to ask where Brice was and invited the duo
to dinner. She happily greeted the duo as they entered, with Lola all
but running over Lee as she saw the 24-year-old. Lola was teased by
Jennifer about being calm around her idols, with Lee blushing as she
didn't know what to say to her.
Jennifer had Lola go check on little Lee, then sat Lee down and
explained, "She sees in you what she is going to be. She loves your
body, is jealous that your breasts are growing faster than hers, and
wants to be by your side when you have your surgery. She hasn't had many
role models, the ladies that she knew weren't interested in having
surgery other than on their breasts. You aren't an exaggerated woman,
you are natural and trying to be your own person. You perform, but
aren't flaunting your body."
Lee looked up at Nora who nodded, with Brice adding, "She's known about
you for a while and idolizes you for the right reasons. Hopefully she's
the first of many young ladies. It doesn't help that our foster son is
struggling with her wanting to become a girl and doesn't see their
shared bond."
He looked saddened while Jennifer introduced their foster son, a boy
named Chad Young. He had long blond hair and wore ripped black clothes,
causing Lee to look for an explanation. Chad was ready to go at them to
defend himself but Jennifer hugged him and explained, "He refuses to
wear that we got him. It's only been two days, he's not used to being
with people who care about him. We haven't been able to find the right
common ground, he's smart and inquisitive but doesn't seem to want to
bond with us."
Lee let it go, while Chad looked at them with suspicion. Lola led the
giggling younger Lee to his mom for a diaper and saw the boy try to go
to Chad instead. He latched onto him in a hug and wouldn't let go
causing Chad to get up to help Jennifer while Brice whispered to the
ladies, "He's trying. He hasn't had a lot of love before, none of the
parents wanted him and with him confessing to being a boy it's hitting a
lot harder than he wants to admit. I spoke with Dr. Gomez and she thinks
it's only a matter of time as it simply needs to unfurl naturally. You
can't force acceptance, something I'm sure you can understand."
Over in the nursery, Chad reluctantly helped change the younger Lee's
diaper. Lee sprayed him with an unwanted bath of urine, leading Jennifer
to help him change clothes. She laid out new set for him, but told him,
"I can understand why you don't want to wear them. It's a big move and
you aren't used to us. We want to love you, we want to be your parents.
Brice loves having a son, and will love being a dad to you if you let
him. Lola loves you regardless of your differences. She understands your
struggles."
She sat him down and hugged him tightly, crying into his shoulder. He
asked what was the matter, so she confessed, "Lola is transgender too.
She hides it because she doesn't want you to be upset that she is
becoming a woman while you'd give anything to have her body. She's
concerned that you might do the worst thing possible: end your life. She
stays away so she doesn't upset you, but rejecting her outright is
making her feel like she's just hurting you. Please, don't hurt
yourself."
He asked if it was true, with Lola telling him, "It's true." She led him
to her room and dropped her skirt then her panties, causing him to gape
in shock at the sight. He looked up at her and saw tears, crying at him
not believing her while hoping that he didn't react badly to her.
He hugged her tight, then cried himself. She kissed his forehead and
told him, "Mom and dad asked for a child like you so you didn't suffer.
Mom wants to be your mother, dad wants to be your dad."
He hugged her tightly and confessed, "I just want a family," which led
to her telling him, "I know. Trust me, I know. I was the same way with
mom and dad until they fell in love with me. All you have to do is let
them show that they love you. Love doesn't come with strings, they love
you regardless."
She helped him shower and change, with him accepting the new clothes and
following her downstairs. It was met with Jennifer hugging him tightly,
with him doing the same and shedding tears. Brice let it go, but was
grabbed by him in a hug and told him, "It's alright, let it out."
The family ate with Nora and Lee fighting saying something about the
touching scene. It was different than Lee had seen Brice before, the
father in him was strong. The man who joked with her for ours on set
wasn't there, it was the man who talked with her through the rough
patches of her hormones- the real Brice Walsh, the man few got to see
and fewer understood.
Lee left with Nora and asked Nora if she'd still be her mother. Nora
said a happy, "Yes," then told her, "I'll ask my boyfriend what he
thinks. If he isn't OK with it then we are done. I love being your
mother and if it's a problem with him then he isn't the man I thought he
was."
She called him and got him to come over immediately. He knew something
was going on and explained, "You stole my thunder, I was going to
propose to you. I guess I'll have to hold off first."
She explained, "Lee asked to be my daughter, I agreed to it. I love her
like one, I always have. She's the girl that I wanted to be but
couldn't. I want to help her more than just as a friend."
Phil Mays just smiled as he saw the affection they had for one another.
He knelt down and opened a box then said, "I love you, Nora Biggs. I'll
gladly be Lee's father if she'll have me. I don't care about her having
grandchildren for me, I want you and if you come as a package deal then
I'm all for it. Besides, I already have children from my first marriage
so I don't need to make more. I'd be happy to be her dad. The boys will
be happy to have a sister, especially one who they have seen before and
can look up to."
At the Walsh home, Chad sat with Jennifer and Brice and fell asleep in
her lap. Brice lifted him up and saw him hugging tightly around Brice's
chest, with Jennifer having to hold off a smile as it was so cute. When
he was put into bed Chad opened his eyes and saw Brice and Jennifer over
him and smiled, then said a tired and soft, "Thanks mom, dad. I love
you," before fully falling asleep.
The two two smiled and walked off to their bedroom, with Lola happily
teasing, "You want to adopt him and he wants you to be his parents.
Don't worry, we won't be jealous. Lee will be happy to have a big
brother and I'm happy to be your daughter until I get to move out. It's
going to be crowded, I just hope that you don't forget me when the boys
get older."
The couple hugged her tight and kissed her cheek, Brice boldly told her,
"We couldn't forget you even if we tried. You are our daughter and will
always be. When you find a husband, we'll be proud to be your children's
grandparents. You are our child and we love you- now and forever."
The family ate together and saw Jennifer talking with Chad about school
then helping settle things for him with a private school that came
highly recommended by the Kaplan twins. Chad was forced to go to the
school and endure their entrance test, with him doing far better than
expected on it. Jennifer was told by the headmaster, "He's incredibly
bright and knowledgeable about a variety of subjects."
He grinned then told them, "He won't be charged a penny as he's the
right student for a scholarship. It's a special scholarship for students
with high academic potential and a likely shot at USC or Stanford. It's
a high honor at our school, to earn it is to be an elite. It's not due
to his gender issues as will be alleged, it comes with strict
requirements that few can meet yet Chad exceeds."
Chad was fitted for a uniform and blushed as Jennifer told him that he
needed a haircut. He asked if he could get it shaved bald, leading her
to happily tell him, "It's for the best, a short buzz cut works for you.
I think some additional bath supplies will help as well. Don't go
overboard, but enjoy being a boy."
Brice was at home and arguing with someone over something. He angrily
told the person, "I don't care if you are Weinberg's son, I won't sell
my screenplays to you. He's done, his business is toast. The fact that
you have to drop his name to threaten me is laughable. I'm working with
Inferno, I refuse to work for you and your father's company. Did you
think that I wouldn't forget about getting screwed out of my royalties
for my first screenplay I wrote for you? You don't come back from that,
you lied to me. By the way, that supposed contract that you have with me
is invalidated by your fraud. My lawyers have a claim against your
father and uncles for back royalties. Funny how you just so happen to
threaten me by invoking this contract now, just days after you lost in
court! Don't bother trying to go after me, I have a development deal
with Inferno that is unbreakable by your stooges."
He hung up and saw Chad's scared face. He sighed and explained to the
boy, "It's part of being an actor and now a screenwriter. I don't want
to sell my script for next to nothing, it's not even done! They think
that they can force me to sell it to them by threatening me, but they
have nothing on me and not clout to force me to do as they want. And I
already have a contract for the movies, they thought they could get it
voided but it's the same trick they pulled on me when I first started
out years ago so I was prepared."
Chad went off to the pool to think while Jennifer calmly told him, "Your
dad doesn't like to be pushed by people who hurt others. The company is
total garbage and has no money so needs big names to get them money from
gullible investors to make their movies. Your dad has a better deal with
Inferno, one that is backed by a lot of money- nearly $1 billion from
one man alone. He's writing a lot to get us a big house so you never
have to worry about money or space again. You have a bright future, he
wants you to be the best person that you can be even if you have to work
hard. And you will- you love a challenge and you will love the ones your
school gives to you."
Lee came over to work on the script and saw the two together, with Brice
telling her, "He's starting to be more caring with us. He didn't
question her about saying I'm his dad and he called us mom and dad last
night when he went to bed. It's hard not to love him, he's me at the
same age when dad ran out on us."
Lee lets it go and worked on their script until it was mostly complete.
She asked if he had an idea for a new script, with Brice offering, "An
orphan dumped on a couple who had no plans to be parents." She had to
think for a bit but realized it could go two ways: a comedy and a drama.
Brice liked the comedy, with the kid being gender-fluid so being a boy
for one and a girl for the other. It was tough to do but both realized
that it worked better as a drama with that part as it would be able to
have more dramatic elements like rejections by the kid's family, issues
with who s/he was, then finally a battle over custody as the kid
confessed to the judge about being a girl despite liking boy things. The
two realized that it might be something big and if they found the right
kid with the right look they may be able to get make the movie a "must
see" for the kid's performance alone.
The comedy had them bouncing ideas back and forth until they realized
something: two partners with a job to do but had little in common and
couldn't find common ground. Their back and forth barbs hid the truth of
their relationship: the loved one another. It would take a lot of screw-
ups and issues but they do find love when their rivals try to break them
apart and show them how much they mean to one another.
Lee blushed with Brice telling her, "If I hadn't been married, I'd have
dated you." She blushed and shot back, "Thanks, but I love women. I may
have accepted that I was born to be a woman, but I didn't also change
who I find attractive. Be warned: if you ever divorce Jennifer I'm
gunning to date her. She's just so beautiful that it'd be tough to not
try to sway her to the feminine side. Then again, she's too smart to
date someone who doesn't understand her six days of the month."
He hugged her and kissed her cheek, with Chad asking what's wrong. Brice
explained to him, "She's was feeling bad about not being able to have a
period like other women. It happens a lot with girls like her, your
sister has them from time to time when your mom needs to run to the
store for tampons."
He looked away in shame, Lee hugged him tight and told him, "You are
what you are. You'll get them in a few years but you are still a boy.
Believe me, there's nothing feminine about you. You may have what I want
between your legs but there's nothing feminine about you: you are a boy
in full."
He hugged her and went up to his room, doing a look at himself and his
new haircut. He was naked and posing, trying hard to feel like there was
a girl there but only seeing that he was a boy. Jennifer caught the
posing and blushed, then told him, "Your sister did the same thing when
her breasts came in. She has a tendency to react that way when she gets
new bras, it's natural. You are accepting your body, it's yours and you
see that you are you no matter what. You can have surgery to make a
penis when you are older, it's unnecessary now. Boys will accept you,
girls will be flaunting for you. Give it time, son."
That was the perfect word for her to use as he started to cry. She
helped him get dressed and told him, "I am proud to have a son like you.
I love you, and I want you happy. You will be a great brother to Lee as
he gets older, he already likes you a lot."
Looking at his face, she asked if he would like to make it official.
Chad asked if he could be adopted, to which she produced the forms and
asked him to sign. She then took them to Brice who sighed as well, with
Chad hugging him on instinct while he whispered, "It's fine, boys can
hug their dads."
Lee just smiled away and jotted down something, with Jennifer telling
her, "You are not turning our son into a story." Lee shot back, "Not
him, the idea. Little boy abandoned by everyone but a couple who had a
family. Boy feels rejected but grows closer to the family. It's got a
lot of potential, I'm thinking it isn't the boy who is the focus- it's
the family dynamics of a new person and their impact on others."
Brice shook his head while Jennifer shot back, "He's really making you
see that you aren't all alone, isn't he? That's it, I'm calling in
reinforcements. Nell and Wendy won't let you get away from us!"
Brice laughed while Chad was lost. Brice explained to the boy, "Your
aunts are coming for her. They are going to give Lee a girl's night out
that she needs badly. She's been too reclusive, she needs a night out.
And your cousins will want to meet you so expect the boys to try to get
close. They know about you, it was hard to not tell them after their
aunts heard that we took you in and why."
The next day, they had a family day with Chad meeting his new cousins
and seeing the boys happy to be around another boy. They ran around and
played, with Chad showing his childishness but loving that they cared
about him enough to include him in everything. They went to bed in each
other's arms, Chad had a smile on his face that showed just how much the
boys had helped him accept himself as a boy.
The ladies were rambunctious and saw themselves getting attention from
the media at a club. Lee was noticed and saw Nora and Jennifer noticed
as well. All braced for their inevitable questions.
When asked, Nora quickly told them, "We are out celebrating my upcoming
nuptials as well as adopting Lee Meyer as my daughter. I thought she
could use a night out on the town and asked her collaborator's wife and
sisters to join us. She's working with Brice Walsh on multiple projects,
with the duo having done amazing work on their next project- one that is
about to start filming and is a help to a struggling neighborhood that
goes unnoticed and frequently stereotyped by my colleagues."
She cut them off before they could make accusations or try to go after
Lee. She hugged Lee and told the masses, "I love this young woman like a
daughter- so I asked her to become my daughter. We have known one
another for several years, she's been what I haven't been able to have:
an offspring. You are free to make up whatever lies you want, but she
isn't my lover and these ladies aren't our dates. I'd be wary of any
claims against them, Nell's husband isn't afraid to sue for slander and
libel."
Inside, the ladies asked about her wedding plans. Nora blushed and told
them that he wanted to do it at a private ceremony with just their
closest friends. Lee countered, "She means the Finns, Kaplans, and a
couple of people who still talk to her outside of business meetings.
Phil hasn't said how many he has, but I think it's his office and staff
and their spouses."
Wendy let out a laugh and told them, "He has his siblings trying to talk
him out of it and his parents are dead-set against it. He has been away
from them for years so losing them is nothing big. They only go to him
for cheap surgery, his sisters both have huge breasts thanks to me. And
his mother has had too many face lifts to count- she looks like she
can't blink without tearing her face apart. I refuse to operate on her
anymore, she doesn't need any more- she needs help."
The ladies enjoyed the rest of the night, with the paparazzi trying hard
to capture them doing something embarrassing but failing badly. Wendy
happily told several of them, "I'll remember you when you come to me to
get your usual penis enhancements and liposuction. I have standards, as
do my colleagues. By the way, we aren't miracle workers- sorry, but we
can't add three inches to make you above average."
The crowd nearby laughed as several had looks of fury that belied their
past questions to her. She was a rising plastic surgeon who had a steady
clientele and a few celebrities raving about her work, with her own body
not having been touched by the knife despite her colleagues trying to
get her to enlarge her breasts and remove her "love handles" that
remained from her pregnancies. Looking at Lee she saw it as a sign that
she wasn't "real" and felt that she didn't have to make herself look
better when only one person would see her body: her husband Carl.
Back at Nora's condo, Wendy asked Lee, "Have you considered breast
implants? I'm not trying to get a new client, I'm just concerned that
people may think that your transition is for publicity. And yes, I've
heard talk about it from clients. They didn't know my connection to you,
but I have to ask just for you."
Lee looked down at her nearly flat chest and shed a tear. Nora hugged
her tight and told her, "Maybe it will help if you get a small set and
let them grow around the implants? I've heard of a few girls who did
that and were happy with the job. Surely that can be done?"
Wendy asked to examine her, with her feeling Lee's chest and telling her
affectionately, "A small pair to boost your chest to a full B-cup with
your own growth taking it up to a C-cup in a year. It's perfect for you,
I wouldn't want you to go any larger. I can do it for you tomorrow,
you'll be ready by next week and can act once they are fully settled on
your chest."
Nora nixed the idea, telling her, "She has to film her next movie in a
week. It's for the best that she is so small as it makes her more
believable in the role. Might I suggest a topless scene to show them
off?"
Lee blushed while Jennifer realized just what she meant. Jennifer
countered, "I think she means that it's so you show that you really do
have breasts and you are transgender. That coupled with the scene in a
pair of panties shows that you aren't afraid of your body and you are
really transgender- not playing the part. I think it's a smart move,
just be brave about it. Hell, the set will be closed just in case."
Lee agreed to it, provided that it was done for the right reasons: the
main character seeing for himself it wasn't some HR ploy to get a better
posting. Jennifer countered, "He'll see it that way as well. You two are
of the same mind that it's scary. I swear you are like his little
sister, only less bossy."
Nell and Wendy protested then laughed, with the duo hugging Lee to show
their affection. The two did tell her, "Mom would have loved you as her
own. But then she was happy that any girl would get close to our
brother. I know she was rushing Jennifer to the altar after their first
date."
The ladies ended their night and saw Brice not even trying to ask what
happened. In the morning, Lee told him about their idea and saw him
adding, "It's a good move. It'll help my character go a long way."
The next few weeks saw Brice preparing for the premier of his comedy and
making the publicity shows look either foolish, homophobic, or
outrageously insensitive as they asked about his wife and family. It was
clear who they were trying to get dirt on, but he was smart in turning
it around on them as he was prepared and happily told about Lola trying
hard to become a esthetician while his sons were happy to have such a
great family and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with their
cousins and aunts.
His movie wasn't expected to do well due to his being new to both
comedic acting and writing, but the movie had something others that fall
didn't have: a fresh take. It did better than expected and was tops for
two weeks during a slow Spring season, with it bringing in $25 million
amid competition from the latest superhero blockbuster and several
write-off movies. It then made another $20 million in total as it
soldiered on with no other comedies premiering for three weeks making it
the go-to date movie choice.
Brice was happy with the results, especially as he was praised by
critics for his strong work with both the script and actors. The co-
stars were the ones who salvaged the movie, but in doing so they gave it
a boost as their own roles in making it put the spotlight on the movie
more with Brice gaining praise for dealing with their egos as well as
issues that didn't exist officially. He let it go, nobody would correct
it and the actors weren't about to seem petty by defending themselves
when they had done it before.
The biggest critics of the movie were longtime Brice critics. No matter
what he did, he was always in the wrong with them. The comedy only
proved their point as they pointed out every flaw in it yet didn't
bother with other comedies that were similar but lacked the chemistry
that his cast had.
Inferno Pictures had a nice return on their investment, with Marshall
Pictures asking to get in on the drama he had lined up. Yuri and Petra
Marshall saw in Brice great potential and coupled with his being able to
have Lee give him some strong pushes the couple saw him as the next big
thing in directing and even producing. He'd need a strong portfolio,
which they were trying to get if he got them to join in.
Nora agreed with them, with Brice earning producer credits for all three
movies he had written. It was a big step for him as he now qualified for
the Producers Guild and had his ticket to bigger movies and a lot of
directors should he choose to do so. Brice had to think about it, it
wasn't what he wanted yet.
Their drama mattered most and Brice wanted it to be perfect. Lee and he
finalized the script, lined up a strong supporting cast of people that
had experience in action as well as playing the apathetic yet still
strong male support and a few females who were used to the usual,
"Strong, silent wife," type but who'd be able to support Lee's character
when Brice started to get at her for being all that was wrong with the
changing of his way of life. Basically, the cast was filled with people
who knew both and who had been working with them for years yet whose
roles were lesser than the roles they were playing there.
Filming saw multiple complications as they ran afoul of groups who
wanted to hone in on their movie's guaranteed success. One group was a
front for a frequently outspoken transgender politician as well as a
longtime pain in the side of production companies. She was only
interested in using the movie as a way of pushing her agenda and getting
herself in the media again, even at the expense of what she was trying
to "advocate" for.
One group was a gay rights group that was upset at them not casting a
gay actor for a prominent role. It was comical as they had no idea about
Lee's sexuality and complained that she was just their, "Token," gay
actor. The irony was that they had multiple gay actors hired but who
weren't in major roles so in the group's eyes they didn't matter to the
group. It was really just a two-person movie with everyone supporting
them and sexuality played no part in it.
The final group were a group of people trying to get in on the movie.
Brice shook his head and asked if they were aware that the movie was
financed by people who were in law enforcement and would not in the
least bit hesitate to go after them for extortion. Brice then shot back,
"You aren't investing in this, it's not even an investment- it's you
demanding a cut of the movie. By all means, go after Marshall Pictures
and Inferno Pictures. I doubt you'll get past their lawyers then the
federal agents sent after you."
Brice took the last group out without having to actually threaten them:
it was the honest truth and if the group had bothered to look into
Inferno they'd have seen that John Finn was a reserve police officer and
it wouldn't be too hard to realize that he'd immediately report the
extortion to the feds. John wasn't the one to fear: his wife Valerie
was. Valerie Finn would rip apart anyone who threatened her husband or
her family, especially if it was through people that she cared about
like Brice and his family.
The "advocate" was put in her place by both Nora and Lee as the duo
refused to be pawns to her agenda as neither liked what she was trying
to do and weren't the least bit afraid to tell her off. When she tried
to threaten them, both laughed while they asked if that was her default
for not getting her way. It was a question that she hadn't expected but
it was one that the two knew would get her to back off.
Brice then shot her an angry, "You really are a piece of work to go
after this movie. Seriously- a movie that was co-written by and starring
a transgender woman, playing a transgender woman in a job that is one of
the most masculine jobs, and is funded by a production company owned by
a man who has more clout in the transgender community than you ever
will. Inferno Pictures is funded by John Finn, his daughter Jaimie, and
his family. Surely you have heard about John and Jaimie: the top
advocate in all of New England and his daughter, one of the most
prominent yet reclusive transgender women. Then there are his family
members, several of which are transgender and who fund the production
company with their own money. You are barking up the wrong tree, if he
doesn't go after you then his wife will. You may be an 'advocate' but
you are only advocating yourself- not others. You don't speak for all of
the community, your forceful views are hurting more than helping yet you
know that- you thrive on the reactions and calling people transphobic
then getting paid by them to 'make amends' and go away."
She threatened him, but Nora countered, "By all means try. Seriously,
try. I'd love to see what happens. John's family has done more in his 10
years being directly involved in the community than you have in 30 years
forcing yourself on others. And unlike you, he has true support from
people in the community. He wasn't kidding about you not speaking for
anyone, your arrogance and rudeness isn't appreciated."
She did go after John Finn and the movie but saw her support network
turn things around on her and demand to know why she was going after
something that was one of the biggest thing to happen to the community
in years. She didn't have any real response and when she tried to claim
that it was harming them it was exposed for all that she was only in it
for herself and what she wanted was to be paid off for giving her
"blessing" to it exposing her as a fraud and extortionist.
The last group were the toughest as Brice and Lee didn't want to "out"
anyone. She knew that she was going to have to admit to being a lesbian
to get them to back off. It was a long shot, but they'd either go away
or they'd go after them for not having "representation" and make Brice
out to be homophobic.
The meeting was as expected, with the group refusing to listen to
anything except their own complaints about the movie. Lee finally told
them to stop, then angrily told them, "You have no idea who is gay and
who isn't. You don't give a damn about plots, just being gay for the
sake of being gay. For all you know the movie could have a dozen gay,
bisexual, and lesbian actors! Just what does being a gay actor have to
do with a movie that has few scenes with spouses? Are you insisting on
adding gay characters just to have them? What does that do for us? How
does it help when we are just seen as token characters who are only
added just for the sake of making it appear that the movie is 'gay
friendly'!"
That caused the group to claim that she wasn't gay, just transgender.
She shot back, "I'm a lesbian. Just because I am transgender does not
mean that I don't love women. You don't change your sexuality by
changing gender. The stereotype is as bad as the effeminate gay males or
butch lesbian. Most of the ladies do love men, but there's a small
number of us who love women. Just as there are a number of transgender
men who love men. Your own ignorance belies your intent: you want your
views to be shown and you are using others as a means of doing it. We
won't allow that to happen. This movie doesn't need to show a gay
character."
She let them go off and told a contact in the media what they were
trying to do. She confessed to one of the few she truly trust, "I'm a
lesbian and outed myself to the group but they insist on forcing us to
hire a gay person and feature that person in a prominent role or else
they will demand a boycott. I'm not good enough: they are taking the
TERF view in that as I'm transgender and like women I'm still
heterosexual. I have no feelings for men, I'm not a man and never was
one. I have only ever loved women. My marriage wasn't a sham, she left
me as she wasn't into women and we are still friends even if she can't
be with me as a lover."
Her attempt to cut them off at the pass worked as the headline "Gay
rights group discriminates against trans actors" made the rounds and
caused the group to scramble to put out the PR fires. Lee's story was
just the start of many other writers, directors, producers, and actors
coming forward to claim the same from the group, with the group
struggling to stave the PR nightmare. Their only action was to terminate
the people who had committed the harassment and extortion, with Lee and
others publicly apologized to and forgiveness sought by the group from
the transgender community.
The movie had no other hurdles and saw a large amount of interest
generated from the three attempts to go after it. Lee decided that the
time was right and told the media who inquired about the movie that it
was her who had been insulted by the gay rights group and that she was a
lesbian. She was happy to say it to them, with them trying hard to come
up with questions that didn't make them look like transphobic idiots or
worse- a hard fete for a group who enjoyed making life miserable for
actors.
She did the talk show circuit and was happy to have been her ex-wife's
maid of honor when her ex got married to her new boyfriend several
months before. It wasn't made public, but her ex's new husband had the
bright idea to use the publicity to help himself out while her ex
reiterated that Lee was her best friend no matter what she was as a
person and she'd always love her no matter what. Lee had to fight her
emotions but the two hugged deeply then saw her hugging her ex's husband
to show it was alright.
Lee's story caused a lot of interest and gave the production a needed
boost as it got into full swing. For the next two months they worked on
the movie, with the interior shots taking two weeks while outdoor shots
took six weeks and a lot of prep work. Lee and Brice were always
together, so much so that she was joked about being the "co-director"
but was really more like his right-hand man for every action.
The movie was hard on Brice physically while Lee was drained
emotionally. Their scenes were intense, she had to hide tears at times
due to the dialog. Brice played the jerk well, almost too convincingly.
Brice ended up getting burned several times during the action scenes due
to bad placement of objects by the prop master and and the stunt
coordinator not paying attention due to an issue he had with Brice. The
stunt coordinator was fired after the second burn, with Brice toughing
it out but clearly hurt by the burns. His accidents were major sources
for gossip as it was seen as being due to his screw-ups as the director
but saw the truth causing the stunt coordinator to have to answer why he
intentionally tried to get his actors hurt just to spite one person who
also happened to be his boss.
The coincidental thing was that his character also suffered from burns
due to issues at a fire, only it was his own inability to wear the new
gear assigned to him by his fire department. Brice had to make use of
the real burns and pain to help the movie, with his actual winces
causing the crew to try to get him to hold off on filming until he
recovered fully. He refused, the movie had to be shot and they needed to
get it done no matter the cost.
Lee's concern was echoed in her performance as she helped Brice's
character recover and start to learn that his ways weren't the best ways
and sometimes you needed to move forward to survive. It was a lot of
effort to not break character when he was clearly in pain, but she
endured and did what she had to do to keep the story going until he
said, "Cut." She did baby him after the takes, with him trying hard not
to tell her to back away but forced to endure her glare as the sister in
her refused to let her stop helping.
When filming finally wrapped, Brice was glad to be done with the movie
and moved on to editing. He had to step back and let the editor do his
magic. They spent two weeks editing together all of the scenes as well
as making the action make sense without compromising the work of the
stunt doubles.
When the movie was finally "in the can" Jennifer, Wendy, and Nell all
forced him to take time off. The wedding of Nora and Phil Mays was being
held in Boston with John Finn and his family being present for it. This
meant that all of them were going, with them flying in John's private
jet.
In Boston, Lee was treated like any other aunt by the kids while the
Walsh children all had fun with the younger Finns. Chad was scared of
them, but when told that he wasn't the only kid like him there nor the
only trans-boy he started to lessen the anxiety and have fun. He blushed
as the girls giggled at him looking cooler than their brothers and
cousins, with them hamming it up for him so he felt better about meeting
them while also easing off of the teasing that the younger kids might
have done.
Chad showed that he was thriving with the family, with John casually
telling Brice and Jennifer, "He's in luck as my brother-in-law will be
sending a report to his counterparts in California about what Chad is
doing as a person and how he's thriving with you. It's likely to be
coupled with Alison Eliza's report as her daughter is one of the kids
playing with him. And yes, she knows about his change. It's hard not to
given how much Cat and JD love to talk with Lola. Your eldest planned
the trip with them to give you two a chance to get away for a bit and
enjoy yourself while she handles Lee and Chad."
Lola blushed as she entered and saw their expressions, with both hugging
her deeply. The younger Lee wanted attention so sought Lola, with the
boy giggling at his parents with her taking him off so they could enjoy
themselves. He didn't know what was going on, but wanted Lola that
night.
Chad enjoyed himself with the boys, so much so that they fell asleep
playing their favorite video game. Their parents tried not to laugh as
three boys were laid out on the couches with controllers in hand and
looking like they had been hit with tranquilizer darts. Chad was left to
sleep at the Finn home, with the other boys being lifted up and taken
home by their fathers.
In the morning, Chad was scared as he didn't see anyone and was in a
strange place. He got up to leave, but was stopped by Valerie Finn who
explained to him, "You all fell asleep playing games last night. It was
easier to let you sleep where you were, your parents were out in Boston
while your sister was with your brother. Your parents will be here
shortly, come upstairs to shower and change. I'll have your new clothes
ready for you when you finish."
He went upstairs and showered, with Valerie entering to hand him his
clothes. He grew scared but she didn't react, only asking if he
remembered to wash everything as her daughters forgot to wash out their
privates at times. He blushed to which she had him go back and do it,
with her sighing and telling him, "It's hard to do, but you still have
things that you need to do out of necessity. You'll get an infection if
you don't wash there. It's itchy and annoying, believe me- I've had to
deal with it with my daughters a lot. My nephew hates doing it, but he
learned the hard way why he had to do it too."
He blushed as she nodded, then helped him dress. She sighed and added,
"Your aunts would be upset if I didn't try to talk with you about this.
They know more about you thank you realize, especially Wendy. She has to
help a lot of young men like you when they are ready for their
surgeries, she knows what it's like and she knows you are suffering. You
are stronger than you realize, especially as you have help. It's going
to get better for you, the worst is over. You are a male inside, but
your outside is still female. It will be 10 years until you can
transition in full, you can make it. Just try. It's all that everyone
asks."
He looked ashamed but understood what she meant. He finished and walked
downstairs to the living room and was met by his parents, with both
having something for him. He asked what it was, but they refused to tell
him and insisted that he open it up.
He opened the letter and wept: he was legally Chad Walsh, the son of
Brice and Jennifer Walsh. He had been legally adopted as of three days
before. It was the best news he had ever had in his life.
The couple hugged him deeply then saw Lola and Lee hugging their brother
as well. The five went to the hotel where the rest of the Walshes were
staying and told Wendy and Nell's branches, with the kids all hugging
their new cousin then saw Nell and Wendy kissing his cheeks causing him
to blush. He was too embarrassed to let his uncles kiss him, but did let
them hug him to show their love.
Nora grinned at the sight, with Lee happy for her friend. Nora handed
her an envelope and saw Lee cry as she read what was written. Nora
happily told her, "Judge Katz wanted it to be special so he asked that I
save it for the right moment. You thought I forgot about it, but I
couldn't find the right moment. I'm happy for you, we both are. Your dad
and brothers are happy to have you in the family."
Nora's wedding was in two days and saw Phil's family arriving that
night. They weren't happy, his two daughters-in-law hated that Nora and
Lee were transgender and were upset that he had exposed the kids to,
"People like that." He ignored their complaints, but when they
threatened to never allow the kids to see him he told them, "I can
accept that, but I doubt my sons can. They don't share your views."
They threatened him, but their husbands angrily told them, "We have had
enough of your antics. Both of us are tired of your lying and are filing
for divorce. Don't think that we don't know about your trysts in our
pool houses. The maids and nannies told us immediately, we let it slide
until you made a mistake. It invokes the adultery clauses in our
prenuptial agreements."
Phil added, "I'd rather that you didn't attend the wedding. Don't bother
trying to go to the press to go after me, they have no interest in it
thanks to being scared off by Nora's bosses. Both of them are not afraid
of the paparazzi and the legitimate media know not to cross them. You
can try, but it'll only cause you to get questioned and embarrass your
families. You remember them? The people you had words with when you
refused to let them visit the kids and swore were 'beneath you'?"
The two left in a huff but vowed revenge. They had to explain to Jo and
Phyllis Kaplan what they had in mind as they would gladly ensure that
whatever they tried to do against their client would backfire as they
also explained to the judge how they spent money that wasn't theirs now
that they were cut off and had no way of supporting themselves due to no
jobs, no skills, and no family support.
The twins happily told their soon-to-be ex-husbands, "These two are con-
artists. They planned on going after your family's fortune by holding
your children hostage until you paid them. They were looking for a
reason to divorce you, they finally found one. They didn't think that
you had dirt on them, though."
The two fled, but realized that they were cut off and had no money, no
home, and no family. Trying to call their parents ended up resulting in
them receiving angry responses that both had to cut off quickly. They
hadn't expected that their plans would fizzle out and backfire, but they
had done so spectacularly.
The bride and groom weren't upset at the turn of events, his sons were
happy that he found love again and their kids were all over Nora trying
to put on a cute act that was working on her. Turning to Lee, the two
hugged her and called her, "Sis," while the kids called her, "Auntie,"
much to her joy. Nora and she had the best possible presents from the
family: acceptance of who they were.
The couple spent the night together before separating for the bachelor
and bachelorette parties. It was all planned by Phil's sons and Wendy,
with Brice getting dragged into things while Lola took control of the
kids for the night. Chad happily helped her while Little Lee clung to
him so he couldn't leave.
The guys went out to a club and enjoyed watching ladies dance then
laughed as Brice groaned at who it was that were performing: his,
"Colleagues," from the drag club. It was all in good fun and saw the
guys get up and trying to do the same as the, "Ladies," and failing
miserable, with Nell and Wendy's husbands both looking like the worst
caricature of drag queens to the point that Brice threatened to spray
them to get their makeup off. The man of honor was the last one to
perform and showed them that he had a lot of experience with being a
drag queen leading to all of the guys looking at him oddly.
He grinned and happily told them, "I lost a bet with a couple of my
patients and had to work with them at a club for a month. I'm man enough
to do it without shame and without caring. Nobody knew about it because
it's my private life and not anyone's business. I liked the fun, the
ladies were great sports and taught me everything that I know. I've
performed for Nora, she's not a fan- I look better than her in it."
That set the guys off while Brice added, "You get used to it. Some of us
are man enough to know that we aren't women but know how to look good as
them. Right ladies?"
That set the, "Ladies," off while his brothers-in-law groaned at getting
one over on them. John Finn didn't say a word, he knew that his own
experiences would be mentioned so he nodded in agreement. Brice did give
him a grin to show that he knew, but John smirked back- it was fun and
he did it for the kids.
Hanging with Brice and the guys did something that John hadn't
experienced in ages: made him feel as if he had more friends. He loved
his friends like brothers, but having people whose children weren't all
dating or married to each other was different and fulfilling. Nora was a
great woman and he was proud to be her friend, but Brice, his brothers-
in-law, and Phil and his sons were a breath of fresh air.
Across town, the ladies had the same idea- but this time it was ladies
dressing as guys. Nora laughed at the exaggerated movements as they
imitated the infamous male strippers right down to bare chests and
stuffed, "Banana hammock," underwear. The, "Guys," were wearing flesh
colored shirts with fake abs and pecs airbrushed onto them so they
didn't give the ladies a show of their bare breasts, with the ladies all
laughing hard at their showing that ladies could be drag performers too.
Nell and Wendy both told how they had similar shows but had Brice
performing, with their girlfriends all joking that he put their
boyfriends to shame. Jennifer fought a laugh while Lee complained that
he wasn't as big as they thought. The ladies laughed at her teasing,
with Lee happily telling how he was the biggest guy she had seen and was
happy that Jennifer kept him from getting desperate enough to turn to
doing porno films to make ends meet- even if he'd do well in them.
Jennifer was choking at their teasing getting so rough, with Nora happy
that Lee was able to do that to her and do so as a loving friend. It
didn't take a rocket scientist to see that Lee loved Brice as a brother
and was the big brother that she hadn't had the chance to have and
looked up to him in the same way that Nell and Wendy did. He didn't have
to say it to her, Brice felt the same same way about Lee.
The night ended with Brice leading the groom to one hotel while Lee led
Nora to another. The two had a tough night apart but they kept
themselves together. In the morning, they went to breakfast looking a
tad morose as the realization that their lives were about to change: one
fulfilling a lifelong dream, the other finding love for the second time
and with someone who wasn't using him just for money.
The drive to the church was long, but saw the two thinking about their
lives. Nora reflected back on the people who had helped her along the
way in her career and those who had made her life a living hell. If not
for John Finn, she'd be unemployed after getting blackballed by the
Weinbergs and likely just a secretary in some temp agency without anyone
to care about her or love her.
Phil smiled as he thought about the fact that he had grown closer to
Wendy and his sons, with the boys a lot more mature as they realized
that they were privileged and had to show their young children that they
had to be better people and money wasn't the be-all, end-all. He also
had the daughter that he had wanted for years but his ex-wife had
refused to adopt as it would make her look bad because she chose vanity
over motherhood as she couldn't be bothered to get pregnant again. He
hated to think about what Lee had gone through and was going to ensure
that she never was for want of love again.
Brice had to hide his smile as he saw Lee in her dress. She looked
beautiful, especially as she had her small breasts on display. They
would be enlarged soon, Wendy would do the job herself for Lee.
The wedding was typical, but still special. The couple went off in a
limo to a private plane that led to a private island in the Caribbean,
courtesy of Yuri and Petra Marshall. Both were in tears as the Marshalls
offered their island to them for the week, it was rare for anyone to be
allowed to visit it so the couple getting sent there for a dream
honeymoon showed how much they respected and cared for Nora.
Lee had the "luxury" of moving all of their possessions to the couple's
mansion. She was moving in as well, it was her home now and would see
her being close to her new brothers and nephews. It was what she had
hoped would happen, especially as the family wanted her to be among them
for he safety.
The families went home after that, with the brothers enduring their
wives' begging and pleading for the duo to forgive them. Neither
accepted their act, and when told no the ladies went after them any way
that they could. They tried to sue for custody, but saw the two
countering and winning.
Judge Uriah Katz got the cases and smiled at the two ladies trying hard
to explain their actions then how they deserved their sons when they had
no way of supporting themselves without their husbands and their
fortunes. Both wives were struggling for words and threatened Judge
Katz, he simply let the couple work themselves into an arrest then
denied any custody as they were unfit.
The boys were only adding fuel to the fires as they talked with Chad
about their mothers and saw them tell him about their mothers being
harsh with them, slapping them for any reason, and yelling at them to
get them to do whatever they wanted. Chad told Wendy who conveyed it to
social services who had sent a memo to Judge Katz about their actions
leading to his declaration. Judge Katz was proud of the boy, he showed
that he was more man than a lot of fathers decades older than him and
proved why he had approved of his adoption by Brice and Jennifer: he
followed his parents' lead.
Lee and Brice were hard at work on their next projects while filming for
Brice's action movie took up a lot of their time. The two had a heavy
hand in creating the movie as the director worked with them to give the
movie more money to allow it to do more special effects. They had to
cull a lot of what he had tried to do, his vision was too much and what
he wanted was too ridiculous for what was needed.
Brice put his foot down about the costs and refused to include a lot of
the ridiculous explosions and the constant stream of CGI animations that
didn't add anything to the movie except costs. Lee saw what he was going
for and countered that the movie was supposed to be character-driven,
his need to survive as a person among the soulless robots was more
important than showcasing things exploding just to make them explode.
The action was in the escapes, with jumping over obstacles, outsmarting
chasing robots, and finding his way around sentries with subterfuge:
things that were able to be done easily if he had an inkling of trying
to focus on the storyline and not on the visuals.
Lee's telling him what to do was upsetting the director, but Brice
countered, "She knows what I wanted to do before you ever got included.
We talked about what kind of movies we liked and mine were the kind that
had you believing that it was impossible to survive then finding a way
around impossible. She knows how the movie should go without sacrificing
your vision for it. Explosions don't have to be in every single action
movie, you'll have your explosions- just where it's needed. Like the
climax."
The issues lasted for weeks until the director walked out, claiming that
he couldn't work with them on a movie as they were "stifling his
creative process" for refusing to do as he wanted. Brice took over the
job and implemented the needed changes. The cast appreciated the fact
that less CGI and gun battles would be used as well as more action-
oriented scenes involving escapes and trickery as scripted.
Filming took longer than expected and saw the budget getting tighter and
tighter, but in the end it was as Brice had envisioned and was more in-
line with the psychological action film instead of the heavily action-
oriented movie that the director wanted. Things got dicey as the former
director tried to hone in on the movie and demand payment and credit for
the movie, with Nora refusing to do either. When he threatened to sue,
she gladly told him that he was the one who walked out and broke his
contract- one that she had honored including a chauffeur, private plane
to/from the set, and special meals.
His demands weren't too out of the ordinary, but the man was exposed as
a hypocrite over his claims of being "environmentally friendly" and
"carpooling everyday to the set" in interviews. He caved, with the movie
not giving him directorial credit but giving him an "adviser" credit. He
was paid for the work that he had done, but his credit as adviser was
seen as a pity gesture as the man was humiliated by Brice, Lee, and Nora
forcing him to accept that he couldn't get his way every time.
The movie's editing took longer than the other movies but saw Brice
learning more from the editors as he got a good look at the downside:
hours of moving CGI around to fit the scenery and look "real" but also
having to sync the soundtrack, dialog, and sound effects to the CGI. Lee
spent a bit of time in the room with him and had to walk out due to
boredom- she wasn't cut out to be a director, she was more of a writer
and actor than director. She might join her mother as a producer, but
she loved acting first.
Chad had a tough time dealing with Brice working on the movie. The boy
felt like he wasn't going to see his father again, with Jennifer
struggling to tell him that it was part of his job. He visited the set
on a daily basis after school, often having to be driven there by
Jennifer so he didn't have a breakdown at home over Brice not being
there and suspecting that he had done something to upset Brice.
Chad was by his side and wouldn't leave it until filming wrapped for the
day, causing the cast and crew to see how much the boy worshiped Brice.
It was sweet as Chad had his own chair and did homework during the
filming, with the actors saying their dialog or running through the set
while he type away. It was also causing them to act on their best
behavior as none of them wanted to say the wrong thing or do something
that would upset Chad, making the crew happy to not endure the diva
treatment of some.
Chad earned good grades and regaled the kids in school with what he saw,
causing them to see him as a cool kid instead of freak that many had
called him. The fact that he was watching filming of movies as well as
knowing some top quality actors that the kids had seen on TV made his
differences not matter. He was careful with them just in case they
weren't genuine in their trying to get close, but he did like to be with
kids who wanted to be around him- albeit with some who were fake
friends.
He did find two who weren't frauds, with both being noticed by Jennifer
as they were quiet and didn't try to ask about the movie and who he had
met. They were also the class loners, but were great to him in that they
weren't afraid to tell him that he was gloating even if he didn't mean
to. Jennifer had to hide her pride as Chad always rethought what he was
saying and stopped, with the boys changing topics.
Eventually the novelty of having someone in their class who knew a lot
of famous people and got to be on set with movie stars wore off and Chad
was left without his entourage, except for the duo. He kept a constant
vigil that they weren't going to use him, but they never tried to take
advantage. They talked a lot about their gaming systems and challenged
one another at home, with the boys loving the challenge.
Brice was happy to hear about the friendship, especially as he witnessed
it himself. The boys were like a classic trio, with Chad happily
enjoying their friendship while giving them an ear that they hadn't had
before. He blossomed as a boy with them, they were what he was missing
in his life.
Closeness led to the inevitable weekends at one another's house. The
boys had a lot of fun at the Walsh home and at their homes, with Chad
swimming with them while also enduring some embarrassment as they had to
change separately. They blushed as they realized why, but Chad happily
told them that he had seen them before so didn't care but their parents
wouldn't like them seeing what he had.
He did do something that shocked them: he showed them what he looked
like so they wouldn't get any curiosity in the future. He did so during
one of their sleepovers and told them never to tell anyone what he had
done. They saw it, blushed, then didn't care: it was just an empty
space, what he had between his legs didn't change who Chad was and what
they liked about him.
Lola was home and caught the whole reveal and showed the boys her
breasts as well as the bulge in her panties to show that you can be a
woman with a penis just as you can be a boy with a vagina, with the boys
blushing deeply and thanking her for doing that for them. None of them
said a word about they had done, but it was clear to their parents that
something happened and they were different. Lola was a big sister to
them in their eyes now, even if she wasn't actually their sister- they'd
keep the secret.
Lola enjoyed her own growing circle of friends as the ladies in her
esthitician classes were a lot of fun and she was just "one of the
girls" to them. It helped that one was transgender as well and two were
a couple so they weren't a "normal" group yet had great chemistry. She
studied hard and worked hard on her skills, with her instructors pleased
that she was devoted to her craft and trying to blend styles to be able
to work variety of productions. Her weakest area was her artistic style,
she would need to work on it in order to get sci-fi and fantasy movie
jobs but that was something that she could work around.
She was encouraged to take art classes to pass the time, with her uncles
paying for them as a birthday present to her. She was in tears as she
received it, but they wanted her to be happy and if it helped her get
closer to her dream then it was worth it. She was working hard at beauty
school so it was something to calm her and give her something else to do
instead of sitting at home babysitting Little Lee.
The winter brought the release of Brice and Lee's drama. It was a quiet
hit that earned back Inferno's investment as well as made Brice and Lee
household names as their chemistry was tough to deny and led to rumors
that they were more than friends. Both denied the rumors and turned it
around on the gossipers and asked if being close friends with someone of
the opposite sex had to always mean sex or if they were trying to make
up something that wasn't there as the two had known one another for
years and had worked together for months with their families knowing one
another to the point of the kids calling them "aunt" and "uncle" even if
they weren't actually either to the families.
Brice's acting was seen as the "must-beat" role of the year with Lee
seen as the token choice that year as her gender change was talked about
more than her actual work on the movie. The fact that Brice had both
written and directed the movie was forgotten about as his Lee's
impending nominations for acting took center stage for all talk. Brice
was happy that the movie got a lot of buzz even if it was all for the
wrong reasons and what they were accusing Lee of was ridiculous: she did
an outstanding job that year.
The award season was a sea of wins for the movie, so much so that Brice
was eyed as the biggest thing in Hollywood while Lee was the new "it"
girl in drama and would garner a lot of roles for high pay- she could
name her price and she would be paid it so long as she got the movie
money and nominations for her roles. Brice would have acting roles
coming from all angles with directors wanting to work with him to use
his name and connections while producers wanted to exploit his name for
their own money grabs. He was loyal to Nora and wouldn't take any roles
that impacted her and without her blessings.
When the Oscar ceremonies came around the group did the whole dog and
pony show and saw Jennifer getting critiqued by the fashionistas for
daring to go with an "unknown" designer again, but she happily asked if
they were upset that they were ignorant of the designer or that the
dress looked better on her than any other dress there that night. Lee
happily told the fashionistas that their ignorance of who they were
wearing was their own fault: she was a big hit in England and was being
worn by most women at the BAFTA awards the month before and stole the
show. Nora happily asked if they had been paid by the designers yet or
did they accept payment only after they had trashed rival designers,
causing many in the media to ask what she meant leading to Nora happily
telling about their accepting bribes from designers to tout certain
designs over others and trash any "outside" designers.
The group stole show that night as they swept in all categories they
were nominated in, winning Brice "Best Actor," "Best Director," and
"Best screenplay"- an award shared with Lee. Lee won for "Best Actress"
shocking the world as the odds-on favorites were perennial favorites
with her nomination not even being considered let alone expected to win.
Yuri Marshall and Nora accepted their Oscars for the "Best Picture" win
with Valerie Finn, with Valerie again accepting on behalf of John with
her happily telling them that this time he declined to attend due to
overseeing their son's first date- sending all off in a big laugh as she
was clearly joking with them even if it was the truth.
After the ceremony, Brice and Lee explained that they were taking a
sabbatical to focus on developing new pictures and screenplays for
production. They weren't questioned as Brice had been involved in more
movies in the past two years than could be asked of even the toughest
director, with Lee having a notoriously private personal life and family
who were uninvolved in Hollywood except for Nora. Her father may have
been one of the top plastic surgeons in Southern California, but he kept
his life private.
The sabbatical was true, but it was due to Nora finally insisting that
Lee undergo her surgeries so she could feel "whole" and never have
anyone question her sincerity over being a woman. She saved semen from
before her transition so had a healthy stockpile for the future, so
there was nothing hold her back. Wendy insisted that she do it as Dr.
Gomez was afraid that her putting it off was masking issues and if she
held off any longer she might do something that she would regret- or
worse.
Lee openly wept at their insistence, finally confessing to all of them,
"I just didn't want to burden all of you with my issues! I caused mom to
lose several deals due to my being refused for roles and dad has to put
up with people making lies about him mutilating me. I don't want you to
be hurt because of me. I don't want Brice lose his dream roles nor do I
want him to lose deals because I helped write his scripts. I don't want
Lola to see that she's got to be like me. I don't want Chad to think
that he's less of a boy because I'm not strong enough to do what I
should have done months ago."
Nora kissed her forehead while Phil shot back, "I know who is accusing
me of doing that and they are upset that we won't operate on them
anymore. They are more plastic than human under their skin, I don't want
to be any part of their body ripping apart by breathing. As for your
mother, those people are trying to use her new status as an Oscar
factory and had no plans to ever cast you no matter what. They aren't
that good, your mother could see them for what they are: barely breaking
even vanity projects that are only meant to get themselves more projects
while making a few million from the gross. It's all a load of garbage,
your mother refused to play their games and told them that your ideas
were better and would earn them millions while theirs would bankrupt
her. She protected you, you can do whatever you want now that you have
two Oscars and clout. You are driving your future- not them!"
Brice angrily told her, "I'm happy with my life right now. I don't have
to act in another movie to have my legacy secured. I want to work with
you, if someone has an issue with your working with me then I don't want
to sell OUR script to them. You are my partner, I can't do this without
you. We won because of your help and I won because of your words. I'd
rather lose out on a huge budget than work for those who refuse to let
the one person I'll always listen to be involved with me."
Jennifer hugged and wept with her, before finally telling her, "Chad
loves you and is happy that you are going to have your surgery. He's
jealous of you, but he understands why you are having it. He sees it as
you showing that you are a true woman and if he holds out he can do the
same. Lola is proud of you and wants to make the most of her life. She
doesn't worship you: she loves you. There's a difference, one that she
told us before. Worshiping doesn't accept flaws and believes no matter
what, love is seeing the faults in you and trying to help you through
them even if you don't want to. She loves you, she wants to be there for
you to help you recover and feels bad that she made you delay your
surgeries."
Lee agreed to undergo the surgery, thanking all of them for showing her
that she was foolish. They left her to talk with Dr. Gomez, with Wendy
ensuring that everything was prepared for the surgery. She was going to
perform the breast augmentation herself, with a couple of tweaks to her
body to help her look a little more feminine like tracheal shaving and
liposuction with redistribution of fat to build her figure.
Lee had a second opinion from a colleague of Dr. Gomez, with Dr. Robin
Wiles talking with Lee for a couple of hours before giving her the all
clear for the surgery. Lee felt like a weight had been lifted as the two
doctors told her, Dr. Gomez happily told her that she had her final test
three days before: when her family confronted her about her fears. Dr.
Wiles explained that her own mind was keeping her from moving on and
hearing the truth from those she loved gave her the final peace of mind
that she needed.
The surgeries went off without a hitch. Wendy kept close watch over
Lee's gender surgery after she had performed her other surgeries and
ensured that Phil kept out of the action as he kept Nora from being too
anxious over their daughter's final step. Their sons were upset at not
being told until the day of the surgery but seeing their own sons
looking scared they understood why they held off telling them. The boys
were told that their aunt was undergoing surgery and why, with the boys
not caring but telling their fathers that they were happy for their
aunt.
Lola was anxious while Chad needed his friends to keep him calm. Both
were distracted all day and appreciated that Lee had insisted that they
not be told anything until she was awake. The boys had a weird feeling
as they heard what was going on, Chad told them that he was happy for
his aunt and it was going to be a long time until he had his surgery but
he was going to have it no matte what now.
Lola realized that it was only a matter of time for her until she had
her own, she started to think about her friends who couldn't afford to
have theirs and those who didn't want to have it as they liked to be a
bit of both. She smiled as she had the best support network: people who
were honest with her and who would keep her going through the roughest
parts. They wouldn't let he feel horrible about choosing to undergo the
surgery and would be the first to help her get her strength back while
recovering.
Lola found her friend hugging her tightly as her anxiety overtook her,
with Lola kissing her friend deep on the lips followed by her friend
kissing her back. Her friend softly told her, "I know that we are both
trans, but I like you a lot. I'd be willing to keep my penis if it makes
you happy."
Lola blushed and kissed her deeply, leading the two to going further as
they started to strip and admire one another's body. Lola got on her
knees and gave her friend fellatio, leading her friend to happily tell
her that she loved her. Lola had the same done to her, with her friend
telling her warmly, "I meant what I said, I'm a woman but I'm happy to
have a penis if it makes my friend happy."
The two fell asleep naked after that. Lola waking her friend by putting
her penis into Lola's anus for sex. The two kissed deeply after she
climaxed, with Lola thanking her for that needed sex.
At home, Lola's walk of shame led Jennifer to ask about her night. Lola
broke down and told her what her friend had told her, leading Jennifer
to hug her and tell her, "She cares about you more than just as a
friend. To do that means she may even love you. She shouldn't have to do
that for you. It's up to you to see if it's more than friendship or if
you two are just attracted to one another sexually."
Lee called them to check on Lola, leading Lola to tell Lee about her
night and make Lee explain to her, "It's clear that she likes you. Take
it slow, I think she want to be more than friends with you. It's an odd
pairing, but it's been known to happen. Maybe you haven't found the
right person to love you, you may not be attracted to cisgender women
but trans might be the right woman for you."
Lee needed that distraction and saw Nora smiling at her for doing that
for her niece. Brice called to tell her that Chad was asking and saw him
talking with her for a bit before he went off with his friends, the best
possible outcome for him especially after his fears were sated. Lee
looked over at Nora and was happily told, "He did call you 'auntie'. He
loves you as one, you really are an aunt to all of them. Nell, Wendy,
and Jennifer are your friends and Brice is closer to you than he is to
Nell and Wendy. I'm happy for you, you have your final confirmation that
you are doing better than your family ever will be.
Lee took two months to recover from the surgeries, during which time
someone revealed that she had her "final" surgery causing the Kaplan
twins to sue the hospital and clinic that she was staying at for the
breach of her confidentiality rights. When pictures of her walking
around the clinic with breasts and a much larger butt the clinic had to
pay her $2 million as well as fire several maintenance workers and a
nurse for selling the pictures. The news sites that printed the pictures
were sued alongside the clinic, they fared worse as they had
shareholders in an uproar over how far they'd go to get a story while
John Finn flexed his financial muscles and got the editors and talk
"news" hosts fired.
Lee made her first public appearance at the premier of Brice's action
movie, happily walking along and refusing to answer questions about her
changed look. She just smiled and turned around the questions at the,
"Reporters," asking them, making them look bad over badgering Lee for
having plastic surgery as they themselves had undergone numerous
surgeries on their faces and breasts. Her non-reply caught the media off
guard and had the world laughing and supporting her as it wasn't
anyone's business and was a subject they they didn't dare delve into
with other actors making it clear that she was targeted by them.
The movie did shockingly better than anyone could have hoped: a whopping
$700 million for a small $50 million plus $5 million in marketing. It
was Inferno Pictures' biggest hit yet. Brice and Lee had done something
nobody had expected: they had become a powerful duo as they had both the
awards as well as the proven money power.
Brice and Lee had something else that few in Hollywood could claim:
money-making ideas that could be brought to life on the "cheap" and make
into hit movies that gained a lot of money on their initial investments.
They were unique in how their minds worked, they each had ideas but
needed the other to refine them to make into something feasible. They
were also set for years as their points from writing the three movies
gave them leeway to not have to work so much.
Brice alone made $70 million from the action movie, with Lee making
$17.5 million. The two looked at their payments and thanked Nora for
hiring Brice to direct, while then thanking the previous director for
quitting the project. He hated that they had not only made the movie a
blockbuster, they had made his replacement project flop without knowing
that it was up against the movie and was basically the same idea that he
tried to push on them but without the strong acting!
Brice also had $3 million from the drama and $2.65 million from the
comedy, on top of his $650,000 salary for the three movies and another
$1 million from directing the action movie. He paid off his loan and
prepaid for Lola's surgery. Jennifer wept as he signed the paperwork, it
was a dream come true.
He did the smart thing and move the family to a more secure, private,
and less accessible home but was actually closer to Chad's friends'
homes and the school so it worked out better for him. The house also had
the benefit of more bedrooms and bathrooms so the three kids had their
own and their cousins had a place to play whenever they were at the
house. It was clearly meant to be beneficial to Chad and the younger
Lee, but Lola was happy to have a place there even when she move out on
her own.
Lee made a lot less money than Brice but she had done less for it. The
movies were his babies, she was benefiting from him splitting the points
for co-writing with him but he had the scripts sold and was the one to
direct the action movie. She was proud of him, he had done what few
could: broken through his character mold and created something amazing
to see.
The only thing that was missing from their lives was a girlfriend for
Lee. She blushed at the idea but it was clear that Lola was trying to
find her love while Jennifer, Wendy, and Nell were trying to set her up
with ladies that they knew were lesbians. None had success, Lee simply
chose to go stag and enjoy her time alone with her nephew and brothers.
She ran into a woman during a visit to her doctor, with both blushing at
knocking the other down and a slew of embarrassing apologies followed.
When they both stopped they saw something in the other that struck them
deep, leading to Lee asking her to lunch. The woman blushed deeply but
accepted, but did ask that they go to some place private instead of
where the paparazzi could get at them.
They spent hours talking then walking through a nearby park leading to a
kiss under the moon. When she was dropped off, Lee asked for a second
date followed by a third and fourth. Within a week they had kissed
deeply and after two weeks had made love to one another at her
apartment.
The two spent hours together, but Lee hadn't told her about her past
until the third week. When she did, her girlfriend felt betrayed that
Lee felt the need to hide her past as they had shared everything
together. Lee cried and told her about dates that went horribly and
women who used her for their own needs so she stopped dating until she
met her.
It was tough to be upset at Lee, so her girlfriend did the only thing
she could think of: she kissed Lee and happily told her, "I know now. I
like you for you and I've seen what you have. Believe me: you are all
woman. I've never felt like this about women before, you are the first
woman that I ever dated. It's the truth: you have made me happy and have
opened my eyes to women. I don't know if I'm a lesbian, but I think I'm
in love with you. I'm happy to be your lover."
Lee asked her to move in with her, with Nora agreeing provided that she
checked out so there wasn't an issue with her. It was a formality, but
it was also a precaution just in case. The check was negative, she was
who she said she was and had both a steady job as well as small nest egg
to support her.
Moving in with Lee was a lifesaver as she saved on expenses and could
work more without fear of her job getting in the way of her sex life.
She worked as a freelance accountant, she worked hard at her job but not
paying rent let her save money for the future. She told Nora and Phil
that she wouldn't ask for anything that she didn't earn and would
contribute around the house- it was unnecessary, but the sentiment was
appreciated and saw them sending business her way so she could do as she
claimed and give her a boost in her trade so she didn't struggle and
feel like she wasn't contributing.
Nora smiled as she asked Jennifer to work with her. Jennifer checked her
over through her own string of contacts and practically begged Nora to
get them together, she was a diamond in the rough that was the best
accountant you could get that couldn't be exploited that nobody knew
about. Lee and Brice had to hold off laughter as their significant
others got together and hugged: the old classmates were back as friends
after years apart. Brice had to hide his glee, Jennifer rarely mentioned
her friend after they had graduated from college but when she did it was
always with love and affection.
After two months of dating the ladies proposed to one another, with Lee
crying as she asked Lee to be the "donor" to her babies. Lee happily
agreed, with the two announcing their engagement to the media so the
vultures didn't speculate about the mystery woman seen with Lee any
long. She was happy to be the future Mrs. Lana Meyer and announced that
they were pregnant with Lee's first child soon after.
That led to claims of them using Brice as a donor and that their
marriage was a cover for her cheating on Lee. Lee ignored the claims and
refused to answer questions, the couple wouldn't play their game and
anyone trying to find out who the "father" was found out that the couple
weren't afraid to go to the courts to sue for libel and slander. Lee had
unintentionally told the world of their marriage, which she had
neglected to tell Lana about yet.
It was laughed at by Lana, with Lana happily calling her parents to tell
them that she was going to be married and Lee was going to give them
grandchildren. Lee was scrutinized but the fact that she would be the
one to "father" the children caused them great glee as it was simply
doing what would be done anyway, only this time it'd be with both
mothers being biologically linked to the baby. Their only demand was
that the couple get married close to them- back in Massachusetts!
Lee knew she'd include the Finns, but it was tough to not include them
for the wedding. Lana's big family would be drowned out by Lee's
surrogate family, especially with so many people with them who supported
Lee. Lee's own entourage would be just her parents, brothers, and the
Walshes but she'd invite some close people like the Marshalls to it to
expand the numbers to fill out the church.
John Finn grinned and asked that the Turners be invited, with Lee not
sure if it was wise to have them be there but realizing that it was for
the best. He smirked, it was a deal that they were working on that was
the real reason for having them go and with John facilitating it so Lee
and Brice wrote the movie. It was more than business, the Turners were
supportive of her and wanted to get her involved more in a few things
that brought Inferno to being more than just a vehicle for the duo's
movies.
During the planning for the wedding, John was told that it might be wise
to split the duo off into their own company that was owned by both them
and Inferno so they had free reign while Inferno got a lot of the money
from their productions. It would be their baby, they'd find investors
and do the hard work while Nora and Inferno could focus on other movies
like a couple of smaller films and TV shows.
John's give made both brides cry, it was essentially giving the duo
their own means of working and not be under John's eye or fear his
wrath. John gave them the startup capital and first movies, with Lee
told that her own ideas were too good not to make even if she didn't act
in them. Lee kissed her new wife deeply, with Lana thanking John for
blessing them with the best possible start in life.
The wedding was the home stretch for Inferno as the company expanded
quickly with the subsidiary as a separate focus and the duo as the
Chairman and CEO. The split was 75/25 Inferno would get 25% as the duo
had to work hard to get investors and create new content for their
company while also seeing themselves forced to co-produce other
projects. Lee liked this a lot more than acting, with her finding her
knack for the role early on as she looked at scripts from several people
she knew and trusted.
Brice disliked the business side of things and was more of content-
production oriented, he'd leave their finances to the three ladies and
work on getting investments in productions for TV shows, movies, and a
slew of independent yet highly touted independent movie productions. He
had an eye for content and a strong sense of whose movie would be a flop
and whose would need time and an infusion of money to get over the hump
and into a contender for an Oscar. That was in addition to overseeing
their own ideas as well as Lee's two movie projects that awaiting them
acting in.
Things were looking up for everyone after the wedding. Lee became a
mother as the first session took and she had enough semen stored to
allow for up to six children, which caused her to faint while Brice
shook his head at her stroke of luck. She had fulfilled her lifelong
dreams in every way and couldn't be any happier now that she had a
family, children, a wife, and was a women in all ways.
Chad thrived to the point of the trio being inseparable. The three ruled
their school as more and more of their classmates and others saw them
for what they were: trouble to anyone who wanted to hurt them. It was
hard to force your views on any of them without the other two supporting
them and others going to their defense so they weren't seen as trying to
join in on the ambushes.
He softened his need for masculinity but was more aggressive when it
came to defending his friends. It was natural, his instincts forced him
to fight back and defend others. He found solace from those urges in
video games, with his friends and parents helping him but not letting
him go overboard.
Lola had her surgery and became "whole" a week after the wedding and saw
her friend helping her out as she recuperated at home. It was clear that
they shared a special bond, but in time saw that it wasn't love. They
did enjoy some sex, but Lola didn't fall for her as she had hoped to do.
Lola stayed stag and focused on her makeup career, showing why she was a
wise choice as she got into the role quickly after being hired by GCW
studios for their movies. She was good, so good that she had to fight
being poached by other companies hoping to exploit her talents. She
remained with GCW and enjoyed people talking about her wasting her
talent for low-budget films instead of Oscar winners but did get sub-
contracted to work on her father's movies where she saw one Oscar
nomination for all of her hard work on the movies thanks to working on a
period drama that featured grime and blood and a lot of face paint
alongside the aristocratic characters who needed a lot of powdery faces
and makeup that ironically looked like the makeup she had used on drag
performers.
She studied art and film while working for GCW, with Jennifer insisting
that she have something to fall back on in case she "lost her edge" or
wasn't able to work as a makeup artist anymore. She did well in her art
classes, so well that she had offers for her work. She created several
that sold for $50,000 to the Turners, with them happily telling who
painted the paintings and why they weren't available to anyone. It was a
one-time thing, but it helped her a lot for financial security in case
she lost her job.
Little Lee loved his family and grew steadily to the point that he was
his father's son and was into all of the projects as he entertained
himself during meetings and gave glares and grunts at people who tried
to manipulate his father and threaten his aunt. He loved letting loose
during the worst times, making the offending people gag at the smell
while his father laughed at his responses. Little Lee was smarter than
the average toddler, he knew right and wrong early and what he heard
against Brice was often wrong.
Jennifer found motherhood to be thrilling but missed working at an
office. She and Lana chose to go into partnership and contracted with
several small production companies to oversee their finances, it was a
start but it was also a way of getting at the ladies' spouses without
dealing with Nora. It was not the brightest move, especially when the
ladies uncovered the truth behind their clients' finances and just why
they wanted Walsh/Meyer Films to work with them: they were flat broke
and needed their money to get a profit while leaving Walsh/Meyer Films
liable for the flops.
It took months to break even, but the ladies were honest and showed just
what they could do and had a steady stream of work coming in from non-
entertainment clients. It was also helped that they had their own office
yet worked from home, only visiting when meetings were arranged and
never meeting with a client at home unless it was an emergency
orchestrated by someone else. Their reputation was solid, so much so
that they helped the police in fraud cases against production companies
and many actors- like two against Sondra and Aubrey Woods that caused
the two to be fired from one of Inferno's smaller films that Nora hadn't
been kept in the loop about.
Sondra and Aubrey had a strong hatred for Jennifer after that, with
Aubrey vowing to destroy every one of Inferno and Walsh/Meyer Films'
movies even if she had to do it from the inside. She got her wish, only
it didn't have the same impact that she wanted thanks to just who was
involved in the movie. Aubrey got her just desserts and then some, but
it wasn't Brice, Lee, or Jennifer who caused it.
Brice helped Francesca Herman again when she returned to LA for another
summer of small roles, this time helping her get a bigger reputation and
seeing her get a higher payday as her roles increased. She had a total
of six movie, three TV, and two commercial roles that summer earning her
$15,000 and more offers for roles in movies filmed in Boston. Brice's
agent facilitated the deal, with his agent also facilitating a
development deal with Walsh/Meyer that Francesca had to grin at not even
needing as it was guaranteed that she'd use them for her book series'
adaptation.
Francesca drew a lot of attention to Brice, who happily told anyone who
tried to allege that he had an affair with Francesca that she was
staying with him for the summer at the insistence of John Finn and was
John's nieces' friend as well as an owner of Inferno Pictures. Francesca
casually asked if it was a default that any young woman or man staying
with friends be scrutinized or did they only go after the ones who were
highly successful and who lead clean, lawful, boring lives like Brice
and Lee. She then happily added, "I'm proud to call John Finn my uncle
as he's a close friend of my parents as both their coworker as well as
their neighbor. My friends have known one another for years with five of
us being together as classmates and friends since kindergarten. Brice is
letting me stay while i get my career off to a start and don't get
exploited by people trying to get at my personal wealth or what I have
inherited. I'm happy that he does that for me and repaid him for that
with a deal for my deceased mother's book series adaptation- one that
has been highly sought out by producers since my mother's death."
She had them focusing on something huge, with Francesca explaining,
"Wendy White-Clark's books are going to be adapted by Walsh/Meyer Films,
Inferno Pictures, and Marshall Pictures. The main money is coming from
Inferno by way of my buying a larger stake in it. I already own a
portion, I'm adding on to ensure a stronger say in the movie's
production. GCW Studios will be distribution and marketing the movie
with Walsh/Meyer doing the hiring and additional financing. I am
personally starring in it. I'm not the one anyone would choose, but I'm
the one who knows the source material best and won't let the hands of
others destroy the books' message and underlying tone. Nobody else knows
the series as I do, fans may believe that they do but nobody but claim
to have been the sounding board for ideas for all 10 books nor can they
claim to have edited the final two books. I can."
Francesca had the media loving her as she had gotten them a big story
out of an offhand insult that they couldn't use. She knew what she was
doing, with Brice and Jennifer recalling John's tales of her vocal put-
downs of people insulting her family before. She was ferocious, but knew
how to make you into the focus while avoiding it herself and all coming
away better off.
Francesca's summer led to Brice taking some acting roles for friends who
needed a reliable actor and a person who could take on a quick role
without fighting over money. He did it for scale pay, and did so with
the request that they not make a big deal out of it so the focus wasn't
lost on the cast and crew. It was why he was asked, they'd do the same
for him and would do so many times in the future.
Lee's two movies were made and saw them taking the acting roles. Lee
didn't make light of the movie's transgender element and only starred in
it as she couldn't find an actress who didn't try to make it all about
her and not about the child. She lessened her own role in the film,
having the child become the real star of the movie as her journey as a
girl and boy and the inner turmoil among both genders as they questioned
what it meant to actually be a boy or girl become the sole focus of the
movie. It worked out for the best, Brice loved the change and filmed it
that way so the child became a big name afterward.
Their comedy was easier to film as it was done in such away that it
didn't require a lot of money as they used existing offices and houses
to film it. It was also a natural film for them as it was practically
just the two of them talking to one another and making the movie out to
be something greater. The catch was that neither were starring in it,
Lee directed the movie while Brice handled producing it, giving her a
jump into the world of directing while also giving two younger actors a
chance to shine on their own and ensuring that Brice and Lee weren't
seen as only able to work with each other on screen.
The drama was released to great acclaim and performed well for a small
drama, but wasn't a huge hit at the box office. It made a strong profit
of $5 million, but for the first time they were seen as making a flop as
it wasn't a top 5 movie during its run. That was until awards season
hit.
Awards season caused a huge stir as their movie was nominated for
multiple awards, with the duo again getting nominated for "Best
Screenplay" while Lee got a nomination for "Best Supporting Actress" and
Brice got another nomination for "Best Director." The star shocked the
world by earning "Best Actress," then announced that she was a girl and
would live as one from then on and was going to stop acting like a boy
as she wasn't one.
Lee cried at hearing that, with the girl calling her to beg her for
forgiveness. Lee could only tell her, "It's the strongest thing anyone
could ever do. I'm proud of you for telling the world that. You are you
and I can never be upset that you chose to make the announcement in the
best way possible. You are a girl on the outside but you now feel like a
girl on the inside. You can enjoy being masculine at times, just as it
is fine to be feminine. Just be true to yourself, it's all that we ask
of you."
The movie wasn't nominated for "Best Picture" but that was expected as
it was up against competition that was hard to say wasn't better than
their movie. It was frequently mentioned as a huge snub, but the fact
that it was considered that despite it being what was basically a
"Vanity project" was a big vote of confidence to Lee. She was happy that
the movie's renewed interest got the company more money and they could
use that to further their projects in the pipeline.
It made a bigger dent in DVD/Blu-Ray/Digital sales as well as broadcast
rights, earning them another $25 million on top of the $5 million profit
from ticket sales and giving Walsh/Meyer a boost that none of the media
would ever know about. It was enough to call it a success, even if it
was seen as just something that was meant to make Walsh/Meyer into an
Oscar churner. Nobody had any idea what the heck was going on behind the
scenes nor did they know that Lee only played her role in the movie due
to the work of others causing the movie to have issues and she
diminished her role.
Their comedy was a bigger hit, especially as the actors had chemistry
that the duo lacked. The romance angle was hard to duplicate and the
fact that they were both happily married, parents, and had been so close
for years that it was hard to believe they were dating on screen. The
couple in the movie were so natural as a couple, while Lee and Brice
were simply too close to be that way even while acting.
The movie made $75 million off of a $10 million budget giving it a big
boost to Walsh/Meyer while it also added onto the list of successes that
they had a hand in. They had several actors trying to work on projects
with them but most of the projects were rejected outright due to the
actors being too tough to work with or whom had previous bad behavior
with Lee and Brice. They tried to act like that wasn't the case, but
when Lee mentioned a time one threatened to cut off her balls for her to
show her that she was not fit to be a man while the actor was high on
cocaine they backed off.
As Walsh/Meyer thrived, Nora enjoyed her own work as she brokered deals
to produce and film several movies as well as a couple of TV shows. She
didn't have John looking over her shoulder anymore as it was his choice
to allow her free reign to do as she chose with the company provided it
didn't facilitate bad behavior in productions nor did it take on
unsavory projects. To him, those were movies that had a strong racism,
political, pro-drug, or toxic-masculinity theme which she had to agree
with- they might get people talking and get some people into the
theaters, but they weren't that good and really only help a small number
of people who had mad their lives being anti-male or fanning racism
flames.
The projects were fruitful as she chose to collaborate with other
companies to work on the projects and let them take the lead with the
headaches. She did have several productions that worked well for her as
they brought in $700 million over the course of the next year, with her
being touted as doing so without the need to rely on her "go-to" team in
Brice and Lee. The truth was even better than that: the movies were
already set to be made and only needed money from her to get done, they
were going to be done by Weinberg but when that company finally broke
apart without anyone knowing that it had finally had to liquidate the
last of its holdings she swooped in to to rescue them.
She was shrewd in doing that, she had contacts in Weinberg who were
about to lose their jobs and had a need for employment and wanted to
work for her and get themselves put into a stronger position to get
better jobs later on. It was a gamble for them, they could just as
easily be blackballed by the industry for that act but she chose to do
it to help save them and expand her productions. It was also a big move
on her part as it was her biggest indication that she was one of the
biggest forces to be reckoned with in the film industry now and one of
the few that was honest in their intentions with you.
$700 million was a huge amount of money, but it was three movies that
had large budgets and relied a lot on the fact that they were
adaptations of popular book and superhero series that landed in her lap
due to the fraud of Weinberg. John burst into laughter as she told him
about their fortunes at his annual meeting with her, it was really her
own hard work that they had gotten the movies from Weinberg. The
associate producers had come to her with the movies due to their own
respect for her, she had done it before she had ever been hired at
Inferno Productions so it was all due to her keen eye and hard work.
Inferno was growing in power and prestige, but it wasn't one of the big-
name production companies: it was more of the biggest independent
companies and one of the few truly independent ones as they had the
options of going to any studio to distribute their movies. GCW Studios
was their main distributor, but Brice and Lee had gotten them better
deals with the powerhouses but kept them from controlling any of the
movies that they distributed. It was a big sign to the media and critics
that Walsh/Meyer had made their mark on their own and weren't beholden
to what Inferno was doing.
Brice was seeing the fruits of his labor blossoming as Walsh/Meyer grew.
His acting roles were coming in fast and furious but he started to lose
interest in acting. The more he thought about it, the more it was clear
that his passion was now directing movies.
Brice slowed his acting down and took on more directing roles. From
smaller productions to bigger and bigger budgeted movies, he took on job
after job. He spent a lot of time away, but only took a job if it was
only going to keep him away from home for two weeks at most except
during summer vacation.
The directorial roles were slow in coming due to his demand, but the
ones that did meet them were the kind that catered to his style: small
casts, small number of locations and sets, small special effects, and a
cast who could work with him instead of forcing their own way. The casts
learned early on that he'd work with them if they'd work with him,
ironing out issues with the script and plot while seeing that the actors
had some ideas that were workable if they didn't go too heavy on the
acting. It was a formula for success as his movies performed better than
expected and garnered buzz for the movies.
His own projects were the ones that caused him to earn multiple Oscar
nominations, with the duo all but guaranteeing that they'd get one
simply by having their name on the credits as writer after they had a
fourth movie earn a nomination. They didn't care about the awards at
that point, they'd move on and it was all about the movies and their
visions for them. They were doing a brisk business with their scripts
and were the go-to people for any production company looking to win an
Oscar but not willing to do the hard work of hiring someone with a
strong idea and being original at that.
Like others before them, they made a brisk amount of money to the point
that they faced studios who tried to buy them out then force them out by
refusing to distribute their movies unless the duo stepped down from the
company. John happily pushed back against the studios, his clout as a
shareholder of both Walsh/Meyer and of the studios put an end to that
tactic while forcing changes at the studios as the ones responsible for
the threats were fired and blacklisted. John would only ever do that
when there was no other choice, but doing it was something he'd do for
his friends- which the duo were.
Francesca's movie was one that caused Walsh/Meyer to go into the big-
budget world as they were part of the investors with both Brice and Lee
putting their own money into the movie as associate producers and helped
to bring in other smaller producers who wanted in on a big-name project
but without being on the hook for a lot of money. Inferno was the
primary, with both GCW's in-house productions and the financial backing
of Marshall Pictures lending more financial security for it. The duo
were able to be in the mix of the movie yet were "hands-off" and
supported it from afar as advisers to Francesca.
There was conflict within the movie as the director had hired Aubrey
Woods for a role and saw her try to get a bigger payday and more screen
time in the hopes of upstaging and eventually replacing the new and
unknown Francesca. Aubrey miscalculated her attacks, Francesca had
earned herself the starring role and was one of the few who could hire
and fire people from the movie if they were affecting the movie. Aubrey
was disgruntled by that, if she couldn't get rid of Francesca then
Aubrey was in danger of seeing her career tank.
Brice tried to warn the director and the other producers but it came too
late, the director fell for Aubrey and her promises of bigger directing
jobs that Aubrey couldn't deliver on. Francesca listened as did the
people from GCW, with Percy Turner personally having someone ready to
replace Aubrey after she had struck. When she did strike, she did so in
an unexpected way but one that Percy predicted: she tried to go after
the movie's stunt coordinator, a newly outed transgender woman who
happened to be Percy Turner's wrestler niece!
Aubrey was fired, with Brice praised for alerting them and having them
prepared. Lee wisely kept out of all of the drama, but was happy that
someone else was the focus especially as she was just there on behalf of
Inferno and not involved in the project beyond that. Percy's niece was
glad that she let her be her own person and not try to get close to her,
but the woman had a strong support network already.
Ironically, Aubrey's firing helped the movie. Interest hit an all time
high and saw the movie looking as if it was gong to be one of the best
movies of the year. Francesca was thrilled by how hit came out and
thanked Brice and Lee every chance she could- they made it all possible.
Walsh/Meyer kept going on with Brice and Lee taking on more and more
projects, but as they got older they slowed down to just four projects a
year. They still wrote a lot and sold countless scripts that saw the duo
working with top directors and actors, but they slowed their work and
enjoyed their lives. Their wives were grateful that they chose to do
that, raising the kids was tough enough as it was without the two having
to work long hours on sets arguing with directors over every single word
of dialog.
The duo were strong friends and mimicked their wives' friendships. Lee
was over the moon as she had a second and later a third child, finally
drawing the line at three but not fully closing the door on being a
mother in a few more year just in case the itch hit them again. Brice
understood, it was the same with him and Jennifer but they chose not to
adopt more kids and prepared for their inevitable bout of being
grandparents when Lola settled down with a young man.
The duo stayed together until they chose to retire in the early 60s,
they had nothing else to prove and had a large nest egg that they had
built up over time. Each chose to do as they pleased, with their wives
joining them on their trips around the world and seeing places that they
wanted to see. They never grew apart despite being apart, Brice and Lee
were joined together no matter what.
As for Inferno Pictures? That continued on until after Nora's
retirement- the same day that both Lee and Brice retired. Walsh/Meyer
was merged into Inferno and continued onward, with the new CEO not even
trying to make light of it and following his predecessor's footsteps.
The legacy would always be Nora's, but it was tied-in with Brice and Lee
strongly that they were seen as the true founders of the company with
John Finn and his family not disagreeing in the slightest.
The End.
