As Nathan checked the time on his Tissot watch, he mentally celebrated

Jamie was grateful of the fact that Nathan hadn't said anything about the

grateful that he was feeling overall rather hip and well put together but
when he stepped into the lift and heard the pop music playing, he cursed.
If he was made to hear this crappy tune for the next three minutes then
he would literally need to punch something before the meeting. He removed
the black messenger bag on his shoulder and placed it on the floor
supporting the wall. He made a mental note of all objects in the bag, his
smartphone, laptop, two files, all the four pen drives he owned, his comb
and a deodorant bottle.
The lift travelled up a floor and opened. Both the men waited but nobody
entered. The callers voice sounded over the silence - "First Change." Did
she just say change? Nathan looked at Jamie who shrugged back at him.
Both Nathan and Jamie were of the same height but Jamie had decided to
wear heels today, making him looking taller. Nathan found himself wishing
that he had worn heels as well.
Jamie looked down at his feet and felt confused. He had worn socks today
morning. He positively remembered it.
Then why were they not on his feet present? He tried to recollect. What

thought. She'd never even completed her bachelors! Her highest education
was a high school degree. Nat and Jamie were just going up to apply as
secretaries weren't they? But who invites potential secretaries to
rooftop interviews? Must be some billionaire she thought as she pulled
out her compact and began readjusting her make-up. She began to fantasize
about how he looked like.
"Fifteenth Change." Nathan began to feel a little impatient and
unconsciously began to readjust his bra.
"Sixteenth Change." Jamie admired the smooth skin across is hands. Till
date she ensured to take good care of her elbows, didn't she. She wished

"Seventeenth Change." Lord Nathan thought. Jamie can act so shamelessly

A good half an hour later, on the sixtieth floor Natalie turned to Jamie.
"Jamie honey, we should use the washroom on this floor and take stock of
our appearance. Let's take a good ten minutes to refresh ourselves.
The men wouldn't mind if we're another ten minutes late, would they?"
As they entered the ladies room, Nat immediately stood in front of the
wide angle mirror and giving herself some minor touches (according to her
they were necessary touch-ups). Jamie entered a stall to go about her
business.
"You know Jamie, we should hang out more often outside work. I was
thinking of going to this dinner party tonight. It's my fiance's
brother's birthday. You should come along." Nat said, taking a moment to
study the ring on her middle finger. "Does he know about your profession
Natalie?" Jamie answered from inside the stall.
"I never told him," Nat admitted. "But if he stops loving me just because
I work as a secretary, I swear - wait why did you call me Natalie?", Nat

"Nat, seriously are you okay? Your period isn't due for another two

As they got out, Nat felt as if some force took over her body. Whoever

towards the front desk manager, Jamie in tow. "Those two are expecting
us" she said and sauntered toward two men seated at a table near the bar
stools. Jamie looks at them, their expensive blue suits, sleek haircuts
and shiny watches and felt elated. Her heart had never been beating this
fast since forever.
