“Mom!” Sandra called out in a disappointed voice. “You are always away from home. I want dad and you to come tomorrow.”
Carol said, “San, honey. I would love to be there, but mama has to work. If mama doesn’t work, then there will no money to buy food, no money to buy toys and no new clothes for you. Sweetheart, Daddy loves to spend time with you, so he will be there tomorrow…”

At that moment, I felt proud of my daughter’s accomplishment. It was I who had played an important role in teaching Sandra and training her in extracurricular activities. I was bubbling with joy at my daughter's progress or rather, at my effort.
“Thank you, Ma’am. I will do my best,” I replied.
“Sure, Mister Simon. Do give my regards to Misses Wilson,” the teacher replied.
As we were heading home, Sandra, who was excited to break the news to Carol suggested that we visit her at the hospital and show her the progress card. I decided to ignore her, but her constant pestering finally made me got the better of me and we decided to visit Carol. The traffic was light and we were at the hospital sooner than anticipated.
After parking the vehicle in the area allotted, we made it into the hospital to pay my beloved wife a visit. Susan, the elderly receptionist, greeted us with her usual smile.

“Susan. I am good. It sure has been a long time since I last saw you. How have you been? We have come to meet, Carol.”
“Simon… About that! I’ve been wanting to tell you something for a long time.” She paused and gave me a helpless look. “I should have warned you a long time ago.”
“Susan. What’s the matter?” I asked with concern in my voice.
“Simon, honey… I don’t know what to tell you…” After a pause, she continued “On the second floor, pay a visit to Dr. Aarons office. You will understand what I mean. I will look after Sandra till then.”
The seriousness of Susan’s voice puzzled me. I didn’t bother to question her but headed toward the stairs in search of Dr. Aarons office. ‘What was that all about? I hope Carol is safe.’
I didn’t have to search for long before finding the door which had Dr. Aarons name inscribed on it. As I lifted my hand to knock on the door, the giggling voice from within, froze me. I looked at both sides to see if I was being observed and then came closer to the door to listen to what was going on.
