"Chief, it's me, Lt. Rizzo."
"Vlad here. What's the problem?"

Chief Vlad lost his mind for a while and when he recovered he was confronted with a very badly beaten teenager. He really couldn't remember anything after he hung up the phone. Let's see, she had no ID on her, so I guess the town will have to either foot the bill for treating her injuries or we just might be able to dump her in the woods and hope that when she wakes up, she has enough good sense to get out of the county. You know this is the only case like this I've had in the county this year; kind of encouraging when you consider by this time last year we'd already had three incidents.
By the way, I hear that Mrs. V is kind of tied up down at the station. I hope that everything comes out all right for her sake. That Kurtz is one mean bitch. I'd think someone might have taken her down a peg by now, but I guess her father and uncle have too much clout in the county considering one's a judge and the other has enough money to buy lots of influence. However I sure wouldn't mind doing an autopsy on that bitch. I better be going. See you later."
"Rizzo here; I talked to your lawyer and he's not too encouraging about getting Mrs. V out of jail any time soon. Those new charges are kind of heavy, especially the one about not paying Social Security on the housekeeper's wages. Yeah chief, I know the wetback doesn't get any wages, but that could cause even more trouble with the local liberals. The ambulance chaser is worried that the Feds might get involved and then we'd all be in deep shit. So he says to sit tight and hope that Kurtz doesn't do too much damage to your wife. From the looks of things Mrs. V is in deep shit. The only good news I have is that they aren't feeding the interrogation onto the Internet. They say it's too heavy even for the Internet, and besides Kurtz wants to sell the tape to her uncle for distribution in Asia."
