Having just turned 18, it was quite hard to establish a life after having her family ripped from her so sudden. But here she was in a new apartment in the nice part of town, and with enough inheritance left to not be financially worried for quite some time.
Sofie still hadn´t processed everything that had happened. While she had gotten alot of help with the formalities from her moms former coworkers, all of which were lawyers, she still had a hard time getting herself to sort through the more personal stuff left behind. Most of her parents stuff had fortunately been work related, while her sister mostly had left clothes behind.
Going through their stuff Sofie quickly realised that some of her dads work might have been related to their murder and her sisters disapperance. This led her down a unforseen rabbithole. She had always known her dad was a police detective, but she hadn´t realised how involved he had been with gang related cases. Considering how dangerous it had been, she could understand why he had hid that from her. Especially since most of the stuff was about The Cobalt Ghosts, the most influencial gang in the country. They were especially known for their dangerous underground markets, that sold most everything, including unsanctioned drugs, women and unclassified cybernetic enhancements . One of the reasons why they had been so succesful, were their willingness to infiltrate and bribe most of the political system and law enforcement. Even the city mayor was said to be funded by them. As a result, the gang had mostly been able to conduct their illegal activities with little to no trouble. This had also resulted in them buying otherwise legitimate business, such as nightclubs and bars to launder their money through.
And that realisation was what had led Sofie to believe that they had murdered her parents. Her dad had clearly been investigating multiple nightclubs for their illegal activities and relation to The Cobalt Ghosts, but it would seem that he was also aware that the gang knew. At least she found a couple of statements from his former informants that clearly showed that Sofie and her family had been in danger. The Cobalt Ghost had been known to be eager to get rid of any hindrance to their activities.
In the bottom of all his paperwork, she found a hastily scribled note with an address to one of the more prominent nightclubs in the city, and the initials J.W. Perhaps she could find some answers here?
Deciding she had spent enough time mulling over her dads old casefiles, Sofie decided to take a break and get dressed for the night. Looking at her self in the mirror, she wondered if she could use her sisters old ID-card to sneak into the nightclub. While Sofie was rather slim at 172cm and 51kg, she shared her sisters facial features as they were both blondes with blue eyes and petite, attractive facial features. Maybe putting off the trip to the nightclub until she was more prepared for what she might encounter there wasn´t a bad idea either. Then she could meet up with a friend or even just stay home and go over her options.
