A frozen wasteland is all that remains of what used to be a flourishing, green landscape. Climate change has plunged the world into a new ice age. Humanity was not prepared for the freezing temperatures, and much of our technology seized up, became unusable, due to the extreme temperatures.

The Emperor is a cruel leader, taking whatever resources he desires, pillaging and burning villages, killing their inhabitants, with nobody to stop him. The people hate him, but can do nothing.
All traces of effective military resistance have long since been stamped out. Guns have been rendered useless due to the extreme cold, so warfare is now done with bladed weapons.
Most of the world’s population is centralized in what once was Asia, but is now known as New Ambrosia, with some very small tribes living in remote areas around the world.
Tales have sprung up, whispers of forgotten creatures of the past returning, legends of old supernatural forces reawakened by the ice age.
The world is a harsh, cold and unforgiving place, and the Emperor’s presence only serves to make things worse.
